my mother taught me to crochet when i was young. she was left handed, so she taught me how in the bathroom mirror so her hands would be in the right position.

she learned to crochet from her grandmother, who was right handed. her grandma was the one that originally used the bathroom mirror to teach her granddaughter properly.

i find something poetic about that. here in this bathroom mirror, through generations, we adapt to our young who have a different way of learning and interacting with the world

another thing I dont think we talk about enough is what I like to call "armands interviews". so armand became fixated on video cameras and generally recording media during his movie buff phase. he recorded himself just standing around, reading latin or Italian poems and last but not least sleeping (which was creepy af to daniel). but eventually he would make daniel follow him around NYC with the camera and armand would interview random people on the street about presumably odd shit lol

my huge gripe w modern httyd aus is that it’s always set in the suburban midwest in podunk nothing town without taking it to its natural conclusion. As if berk would not be a steel mill town on the rust belt with the gas prices jacked sky high for tourists driving through the middle of nowhere. As if the barbaric archipelago would be the suburbs of a big city rather than rural towns in the Deep South. as if hiccup would not somehow end up hiking in the appalachias or turn up half dead after missing for 6months in the oregon wilderness.
