Meet Ivo Novak!

Ivo is an ex-toppat that wants to change after a section of events during his stay in the clan, and one of his ways to change is by giving several informations related to the group to someone to the government (which, funnily enough, the first person he found was Charles Calvin). He is a bit hotheaded from time to time, but mostly because he is tired and stressed from work. Most of the time, he is pretty chill and enjoys music, specially play his flute. Despite everything, once he has an idea in mind, he won't let it go unless it loses sense or meaning overtime, making him extremely loyal when not betrayed.

At the start, Charles almost brings Ivo to prison, but he got curious when Ivo mentioned about having informations about the toppats. With this, Ivo also made a deal with Charles that if he ever lies about any information, he allows Charles to give him the amount of time needed in jail.

During certain days a week, they meet each other to share informations and documents, but they slowly started to become friends, going out to drink and have some fun!

HOWEVER, as it was said previously, Ivo has been through some issues in the Toppat Clan, making him develop trust and abandonment issues. Because of that, he is constantly scared that maybe Charles prefers Henry/Ellie over him (mainly Henry), being desperate of losing such a good friend as him.

Since I'm a Henry x Chales shipper but also an Oc x Charles shipper, I wanted to make this idea because it just sounded fun!

"Why don't you tell Echo why you really wanted him to join our team back then, mm?"

The words echo heavily in the silence of the cockpit of the Marauder. Tech stops tipping on his datapad and glances up, surprised; Wrecker gulps and plays with his own hands nervously. Crosshair is glaring at Hunter; and Echo turns to look at his sergeant as well, his face filling with aprehension and uncertainty.

That's the thing with Crosshair, isn't it? He doesn't handle his trust issues very well, and inmediately attacks everyone, even the people he loves, upon a new threat. Hunter's been spending more and more time with the ARC lately; discussing strategies but also having long quiet talks in their free time, simply enjoying each other's company when nothing is expected from the two of them. And Crosshair is seing this developing attachment as a dangerous competition for the sniper's own attachment to Hunter. Hunter doesn't know how else to reasure him that he has space on his heart for both of them. Cross will always be his brother. And Echo... Echo...

Echo is terrified of what he's about to find. He knows Crosshair's words can cut deep if they want to; and he's got that sort of dangerous glint in his eyes now. He's going to push the whole Batch to a drifting point. Echo... Doesn't think he's ready to hear this. He has a guess of what he's about to say; and knowing Hunter only offered him a spot in their team because he pitied him, that... That would break him. It hadn't been so long ago when Echo felt nothing more than a pathetic mix of metals and scrapped bones. Half-droid. Half-human. No longer a reg, a proper clone... His sense of identity had been swipped in a blink, and among the nauseating guilt of having had his mind used to kill other people, other vods... It had been extremely dificult to carry on. He had worked a lot on it, though. He had moved on. Day by day, his confidence and capacities as a soldier, as a person, had returned. Echo prays the trooper's next words won't bring all of it down.

"Shut up, Crosshair" Hunter warns, with a sharpness rarely seen on him. "You've got no fucking right".

Echo winces. It's definitely nothing good if Hunter reacts like that. As a leader, he's use to mediate; to be patient, remain calm.

Crosshair smirks. He ignores Hunter's death stare and gives Echo a smug grin. A promise of destruction. The spark of a fire.

"Surely Echo is smart enough to figure out how much of a fan boy you are by now" he continues, Hunter's standing figure not quick enough to shut him up. "I'm just not sure if he thinks this is a recent development. Wether he knows that you only offered him that spot on our team after Anaxes because you couldn't help but take the chance to have your little crush close to you".

It all happens so fast; Crosshair's confession, and Hunter's harsh slap on the sniper's cheek. The rest of the Batch are left staring at them, doumbfounded.

"You just can't help but pull people into your own missery, can't you" Hunter hisses, cheeks flushing with either embarassment or rage. "You're such a dickhead, Crosshair".

Hunter rushes out of the cockpit; not daring a single glance towards the others. Crosshair huffs, stands up, and leaves as well; taking the opposite direction and walking out of the Marauder into the hangar they're stationed in. Wrecker and Tech sigh, perhaps more used to his; but Echo remains silent, in shock, trying to process what happened between the brothers.

"What... What does Crosshair mean with "crush"?" He asks, hesitant, still not able to believe he has heard that word coming out of the sniper's lips.

It must have been sarcastic. Some sort of joke to make fun of the two of them.

Wrecker scratches the back of his head, his eyes flickering over the room before answering.

"Hunter has always liked you. From before Anaxes, I mean" he whispers, and Echo answers with a lost blink.

Tech decides to throw some light on the subject; since the cat is out of the bag now.

"Wrecker's affirmation is correct" he agrees, and explains "As the leader of the squad, Hunter and I have studied millions of strategies for all sorts of usefull variants in battles. Our trainers encouraged us to learn from other's experiences, and when you made ARC and started to help Captain Rex with them, we studied those too. In adition, Hunter finally started to show his first signs of sexual maturity and attraction; so it was naturally easy for him to fall for you. Even in the distance, without a proper meeting between the two of you, he grew to admire you. To like you. Considering all of this, I'd say Crosshair's use of the words "crush" and "fan boy" to be decently accurate; though I can understand Hunter's anger about him revealing this private information without his consent. I also agree on Hunter's observation that Crosshair tends to hurt others when he is unhappy as well".

Echo is having trouble to think. This is too much to take in; his mind can't quite understand that Hunter –handsome, sexy, competent Hunter– had all this feelings for him burried for so long. He would have never guessed. He is not naive enough to not have noticed that they were getting closer lately; but Echo had only had hoped that maybe, in the future, the sargeant would grow to think of him as a possibility. But not now. Not that he already did. That he always had. That just...

"For the record" Tech continues, holding his index up. "I don't believe Hunter only offered you to join us solely based on his previous attraction to you. He believed you to be a good addition to our dynamic; you were a seasoned experienced soldier, an ARC no less, and that would always be valuable for the team. He asked us and we all agreed on it".

Echo is honestly relieved to hear that. He'd prefer to have been picked for a pretty face than pity; but it was nice to now it hadn't been based on just that. Echo's panick disolves into stunned confusion and surprise.

"And... Crosshair implies Hunter still feels this way for me now, after all this months?" He finally manages to ask, heart speeding up.

There's a new feeling surging inside of him; hope.

"I wouldn't catalogue it into a "crush" any longer" Tech hums, thoughtfully. "After so many experiences together, and the way I've seen you both interacting over the weeks and the few comments he has made about you to me, I'd say it would run deeper than that. Hunter is also not a teenager anymore; the word "crush" sounds too childish for what I think he feels for you now".

A rush of excitement and warmth flows through Echo's veins. This has to be one of the few times he is this glad that Tech is always overly concise and explicit. This information soothes so many worries, gives him so many chances to work on...

"Thank you, Tech" he pats his shoulder. "I think I'm gonna' go see how Hunter's doing now".

Before either Tech or Wrecker has had the chance to say goodbye, Echo is already leaving the cockpit into the direction of the Marauder's common bunk room.

Hunter is sprawled down on his bed, laying down with his face pressed dejectedly against the pillow, and Echo can almost hear him floating in his own shame. He guesses he'd react similarly if someone had decided to blurt his secret out to the world so suddenly.

"So you liked me, then?" He decides to ask, straight to the point.

The time for hidding and making up excuses –both for Hunter and himself– has ended. If he has a chance, Echo is not going to waste it.

The sergeant groans, pushing his face further into the shield that is protecting him from the outside world.

"You were hot and smart" he reluctantly mumbles, his muffled voice barely audible if not for Echo's implants. "Of course I did".

Echo's heart swell. He can't believe this is happening; that this is real. It almost feels like a dream; those he invented to try to comfort himself at cold nights full of dark memories and fear.

"And you still do? Even if I now look like... This?" A tiny sliver of uncertainty inevitably makes it's way to Echo's mind, and it's enough to finally pull Hunter's face out of his refugee.

"You look different, but you're just as hot and smart now" Hunter replies, a surge of fierce confidence acompanied by a defiant tilt of his chin, almost as if he's daring Echo to contradict him.

Echo feels a pleasant tingle on the base of his spine. Hunter likes how he looks –how he is– right now. Hunter think he's... hot. Echo feels aceptable to look at most days; to know he is admired and desired is... Electrifying. He hadn't really felt like this since Skako.

Echo takes the liberty to slowly walk towards Hunter; carefully sitting in his bunk besides him.

"And you've run all the way down here to...?"

Hunter huffs.

"To not throw a punch at Crosshair's face, mainly, and because I didn't know how to behave around you after he esentially confessed for me" he deadpans.

Echo chuckles quietly.

"You did slap him" he points out, and Hunter shrugs.

"Deserved. He should be glad. A slap hurts less than a punch".

Echo laughs; and it's such a rare sight that Hunter can't help but smile looking at him. His eyes turn soft, his own smile fond; and Echo suddenly realises how this kind of expresion has always been reserved for him.

He catches one of Hunter's hands in his and infuses as much sweetness and warmth in his voice in response.

"I know it must have been embarassing. Perhaps humiliating" his thumb caresses the man's skin and Hunter shivers staring at him. "But I'm somewhat glad this happened, even if in this circumstances. Because I've also been liking you for quite the time now, and I wasn't planning on confessing anytime soon".

Hunter's breath hitches; and he moves to sit straigther in the bed, so that they're almost face to face.

"Why not?" he asks, fingertips caressing Echo's face, almost reverent.

The ARC exposes his own vulnerability.

"Because I didn't think there was a chance someone like you could like someone like me" he whispers, and the words send darts to Hunter's heart.

He sighs and traces a thumb over Echo's lips.

"I don't know how to make you understand how I feel" he softly presses a peck to the trooper's sharp cheek, pale skin reddening inmediately. "You're gorgeous, Echo".

The soldier shivers and melts against Hunter's quick embrace.

He wants to share so many things with him; ask questions, confess some. But he suddenly feels exhausted, and he lets the shorter man pull him down so they're both laying on the bed, legs and arms entwined in a sweet embrace. Echo pushes his nose against Hunter's neck and smiles, giving it too a small peck. The sergeant shivers and answers with a low, pleased hum; and soon sleep falls upon the both of them.

When Crosshair slips into the room in the middle of the night –Tech and Wrecker sleeping soundlessly too in their respective bunks– and sees two shapes on Hunter's bed, he stares for a few seconds before silently climbing into his own and resorting to rest as well. Over the next few days and weeks, when he sees them briefly kissing and caressing each other here and there, he stays peacefully quiet as well.

But omg their story, yes! They DO have one - albeit it's still very rough - but essentially their story is about Saoirse rescuing Llyr from evil forest creatures that killed his campaign that were seeking to bring their religion to "purify" said evil forest, and now they're on a quest to bring him home while avoiding other creatures (and developing a mating bond along the way heehee...)

Saoirse's arc very much centers on her sense of identity as a woman turned into a dragon beast, and how she struggles to know WHO and WHAT she is and how it affects her sense of self worth (which is nonexistent lol)... also her being conflicted with her attraction to Llyr because she doesn't know how much of it is the genuine human emotion she craves and how much of it is dragon mating instinct. Also SEVERE abandonment issues as her village sacrificed her to the evil spirits of the forest years ago soooooooooo😔💔

Llyr, meanwhile, is centered on feeling betrayed after realizing his religion was a lie and seeing the humanity in nature he was taught to dominate and fear, as grim as it may be, and how his kingdom's religion is a facade over the brutality of it's conquest of the natural world around it.☝🤓

Saoirse is just super stoic and silent at first because boo vulnerability and revisiting the past, and Llyr doesn't trust her because uhhhhh a dragon lady hybrid that is capable of intelligent thought??? but also has no one else to turn to if he hopes to return home and yeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhh, and he calls her "dragon-maiden' yeahhhhh🥺

i deeply love broken characters like Vinny and Johan, their character development, how deep they gonna fall just to understand that the path they choose are wrong, and they actually have friends who are ready to help them and they don’t really need to go all by themselves (it honestly already happened to Johan since Jay payed for his mum surgery and his relations with Zack finally moved from dead point… the same cannot be said about Vinny…)

Just about anything, honestly? But for the vast majority of it, it's music and whatever game or book I'm into at the moment, three times as much if it's the source material for the verse I'm writing. It's rare that I can pick up Genshin or the Remake games and not walk away with some kind of inspiration or plot related thought by the end of my play session, and the light novels I'm reading now have sparked up a ton of it in regards to things like Sera's health and worldbuilding. Music often makes me sit and daydream out plots, too, so it brings its own form of inspiration - Heck, the Halcyon Era storyline/Sera's full backstory was inspired by a gorgeous mecha figure promoted in an email from one of the shops I buy Gundam model kits from, though I wasn't expecting the colorscheme and words 'Snow Phoenix' that inspired me to create to turn into the massive story it has!

Tl;dr? Never let me read or play games, I make things happen after. XD

The asshole, in your face, stuck up, only here to be a jerk types. The ones whose personality is "I'm here to be a problem and have nothing else going for me". I love a good antagonist and I have a few more blunt, serious, will fight you for fun muses (Leandros, Kalistratos, and Kagota over on @thundertide being primary examples of this XD), but I really struggle when their entire personality is abrasive jerk and they don't ever act like anything but, or they're just the scheming type constantly trying to cause issues - Even just a straight antagonist who would cause problems and smirk and leave is difficult for me to grasp, regardless of if they have more to their character or not? Like I could never write Rufus Shinra even though he's a pretty well rounded character 'cause I just can't get my head around that character, and it'll never not impress me others can and write him and characters like him so well. <3

I'm also not very good with writing canon characters. I have a handful, both on @shinrarisen and Thundertide, but unless they're characters like Kunsel or Cissnei, who have more open to interpretation storylines and big gaps to fill in, I end up feeling suffocated and struggling to match what canon gives. Basically, I didn't create them, so trying to match what the creator made gets hard because I can't just step into their mind and know everything about the character, if that makes sense? It's why the canons I do have end up being at least somewhat divergent in their portrayals - Because I love them and click with them enough to write them, but I don't feel like I do a straight, fully canon compliant take any kind of justice. ...Or I just don't agree with part of their story, looking at you old Yu-Gi-Oh multimuse of mine-

Both, but I will say the later requires heavy trust in my partner, and isn't really exactly a 'we ship now' and go. I have maybe three incredibly close friends I trust to skip the developmental phases in a ship and the ship still work out, but we have years of friendship and rp'ing partnership behind us for that to happen; this is seen best in my Genshin multimuse, where new characters get added and already have a ship tag - But to be fair, too, it's not exactly an insta-ship, either. While Kasa ( @honorisen ) and I jump into them pretty quick, what people don't see is the behind the scenes discussion on it, deciding if the muses even get along, letting them meet in short, one off things off-dash, let the muses flirt, really talking out how things worked out... We're jumping right into it and avoiding writing out the buildup (which gets usually drabbled or even a flashback thread much later on - It's avoided at the start but ends up happening eventually anyway to flesh out the characters and their relationship(s)), but we're still in heavy talks beforehand to make sure what we're really eager to do for a ship will even work, first - And if we actually like it when it's more than just a thought, even though our muses generally always just... Click.

For the most part, thought, I LOVE developing a ship! I love the buildup, I love the working things out and getting on the same page, the seeing if the muses get along, the figuring out of "how do we navigate this" - It's a big part of why even with close friends I can just skip into the ship with, we eventually come back and develop an entire story with them and even rp or drabble out those developmental stages. Sera and Zack had years of buildup even though their blogs were launched with their ship already in place, both on dash and off, but over on Thundertide and @yoroiis, Childe and Kagota swandived into a ship, yet we've gone back and worked out not only the developmental stages, but have a couple of ideas from those stages waiting in the wings to rp out and are constantly learning more about their backstory together, both as a ship and as old, childhood best friends.

I can't just 'okay, we ship now' with most partners - I can't even do it with you, Knight, OR with Kasa, even though you're both two of the three previously mentioned friends. I can launch blogs with ships in place, I can skip the developmental stages and go right into a ship when the muses click as well as we have - But I can't just cast it aside completely. Even when a ship is decided, we're still discussing how they met, how the ship happened, how they got where they are. We still go back and rp that out, or write it up. The development may be skipped in one verse, but it's very much present in another, and mimics the first regardless. In my personal opinion, ships that don't have any development, even discussed, feel shallow to me? And I mean that as in my muses and my ships and my experiences - Everyone else's varies and it may not feel that way to someone else, and that's totally awesome! <3 I'm glad other people can pick up two characters, tell them to kiss, and it works! But me personally... I can't. I have to have something, somewhere, and I have the best partners in the world who do the same. <3

ok so having just finished Sword Catcher…here are some of my random thoughts or things I want for book 2! *spoilers may be ahead* first and foremost. i loved this book so much!! the plot and characters were all really well done and i can’t wait for book 2!

now…

- the king. he’s presented as being mentally unstable??? like he’s just in his tower all day w the stars and his advisor, but is he actually? bc during some interactions w kel and later in the story he seems perfectly lucid. or at least less unstable w some possible anger issues? he has a lot of strength, he’s flinging people around and stuff so. idk. he’s a bit of a mystery to me. and also, was he even into the astronomy stuff and was he seeing true visions from the stars? or was it just BS being fed by fausten? (was fausten telling the truth or was he an imposter? and for what?) i also want more background of the king and andreyen, how did they even connect?

- i loved ji-an, merren, and andreyen’s dynamic so much and i want to know more!! how did andreyen save ji-an? what’s their history? i just really want to know more about those two and i want more merren content in general bc i really liked his character.

- i saw a theory saying andreyen could be the exiled son of the maharam and i really like that idea.

- jerrod. along w the theory of andreyen I saw someone saying that Kel’s friend Cas from the orphanage could be jerrod and that’s why Jerrod didn’t kill Kel when he had the chance and also why he wears a mask. I think there could be some merit to it, but idk…wouldn’t Kel recognize Jerrod if he was Cas? I know it’s been years and people change but idk. If they were truly best friends in their early years you’d think he’d know him. But I like the theory!

- more on Jerrod. I really liked him from what I read and I want to know more about him and Ji-an. It’s kinda hinted they know each other pretty well? Merren was even teasing Ji-an about knowing Jerrod’s preferred meeting places (tho I could be wrong) so it makes me think they have a past. I want to know if Jerrod ever went to the Ragpicker King to see about a job, if he’s part of the crew in book 2 I would really like to see the changed dynamic.

- I totally thought Mayesh would die. I don’t know why but I felt like something was gonna happen to him after he was interested in showing Lin the ropes…I can still see it happening tbh.

- Conor and Lin. I was thinking Kel/Lin was gonna happen and then she and Conor interacted and I was obsessed w them. The dynamic, the scenes, it was all great and I want to see more of them. ── Once he's comfortable with Tarhos: absolutely. Haruko has a lot of issues showing genuine physical intimacy and it stems from a long list of trauma regarding his body as he grew and developed into an adult. Being close to someone still feels tainted, and just not right - it makes him feel dirty and ashamed. He'd sleep with someone but never kiss them, never reveal a very soft and vulnerable side to him that could be smashed. People joke about how holding hands is soooo intimate but for Haru it is, and I know the first time Tarhos interlocked their fingers he blushed and couldn't look at Tarhos when he finally squeezed back. Nowadays he practically never leaves his side, they're constantly cuddling, even in the hottest summer days.

🎶Do they have a type?

── Haru frankly doesn't care what his partners look like, he basically has no preferences and has liked people of all shapes, sizes, and genders. Regardless he feels the most attraction towards Tarhos, but that stems from him being in love with him moreso than anything to do with a type.

😡What are their deal breakers?

── Standard ones, frankly. His big one is that he doesn't want to be thought of in terms of sex by his partner, its something he's dealt with enough in his life and he still hasn't come to full terms with it. He's put up with it for long enough, and he is starting to recover from it and see his true worth, he won't settle for going back.

── Yes. Haru absolutely wants to - he loves Tarhos and he loves the commitment a ring and being married brings; he's a little old fashioned that way but he saw his parents in love his whole life (despite the distance), and wants to have that too. ── Haru absolutely loves the outdoors and camping! He and Tarhos go horseback riding and hiking pretty much every other weekend in the nearby mountains, where they can take their time, talk, and just escape from the city for a little bit. Another really big part of Haruko's character is cooking, he loves spending time with Tarhos in the kitchen - it's very domestic and he can't help but giggle like an idiot when Tar cups his waist and kisses the side of his neck while hes over the stove. Finally he's extremely fond of brushing, washing and styling Tarhos' hair, its a very intimate act for Haru to show how much he loves his boyfriend - he treats his own hair like gold, and for him to do the same to Tar means a lot.

💚Are they prone to jealousy?

── I'd say Haruko is less jeaous and more wary about people trying to flirt with Tarhos for the fact that he knows Tarhos is a very quiet, private man who doesn't like to be prodded or poked at too much. Haru doesn't trust anyone except like 3 people, and that paranoia definitely leaks into deluding himself about people's actual intentions with someone he cares so much about. He's a very protective individual and Tarhos is the top person for him to keep safe - even above himself. He knows Tarhos is loyal, but he gets irritable when he thinks someone is trying to possibly take advantage of Tar or sway him in a direction he doesn't want to in. Its important to remember that Haruko sees relationships as ways to instill power on someone, and given Tarhos' only recent realization of autonomy? Yeah - Haru's wary.

💔Do they have a certain type of person they will not enter into a relationship with?

── Haru's a little too old nowadays to fall for actual assholes, he has a pretty good read on most people, and he now knows when someone is actually a red flag. Two people immediately come to mind and its people like Danny and Robin; Haru doesn't like disingenuous people - and he doesn't like the idea of keeping secrets. People like them scream trouble to him, and he knows better than to go into that kind of bs again.

🔮Do they believe in soul mates?

── He is quite a superstitious person but this is definitely up in the air. He definitely looks at Tarhos and feels like they have always, will always, and should always be together - like life only feels right together - but I don't think he believes in the concept itself. He does find it odd that the painting in Vit's museum looks just like himself and Tar though.

📺 Do they share information about their relationships freely with friends and family?

── If its shared business between the of them then yes, Yvonne knows exactly how Haru is feeling about Tarhos because he never shuts up about him. Haru and Hina share the same personality trait that they will talk and talk and taaaaaalk about things that make them happy or giddy, and when Haru calls his mom she's always prepared for a 20 min long "this is how my boyfriend is". Granted she doesn't mind it at all - Tarhos is like her son now, she loves him a lot. That being said, he doesn't share anything sexual to anyone except very vague descriptions - he doesn't need anyone imagining what Tarhos looks like under him.

💭 Do they tend to sleep better when in bed with their partner?

── Like Tarhos, Haru suffers from constant nightmares - and they were even worse when he would sleep alone. He did have Bonnie to help calm him down, but there's something so safe and comforting about being in Tarhos' arms that he wouldn't trade it for the world. Its the active knowledge that even if something were to happen, he knows he can trust and depend on Tarhos to protect him as much as Haru does back. Plus its an act of nonsexual intimacy that Haru loves; its so vulnerable and just allows the two of them to really connect them being together with a warm, comfy, gentle space.

Dream! I can’t decide who I’m most mad at, Clover, Benedict, or you! (Kidding, of course!) this chapter is amazing, the pain is so real! Really well written!

Their lack of communication is so huge, and so relatable. Clover should have asked him to stay when he offered, and Benedict should have known that if Clover wanted to talk at dinner then it was important. But so often in relationships we can be so bad at talking to one another about what we need.

And man that fight, clover really knew where to hit Benedict. Im worried about how quickly she lost control - it was so easy for her to lose her trust in him after one miscommunication, and to not be able to stay calm and rational. I really hope Clover is able to see that her trauma is causing her to make rash decisions and hurt others as well - it’s not just about being able to trust Benedict and his actions, but also being able to recognize her own trauma and learning how to react and work through situations when she is triggered. Not to go too personal, but I definitely have trauma from a past emotionally abusive relationship, and sometimes when something triggers me and I want to go straight to defensiveness or pretend everything is fine so I don’t have to talk about it, I’ll have to stop and say to my current partner, “look, I know I have baggage attached to (whatever the issue is), but this is how it’s making me feel and here’s why.” And that helps us both figure out how to deal with whats going and and better see where we’re both coming from. But it also took us a long time to get there, and I would imagine for Clover, having been so young when she was abused, she hasn’t developed those kinds of coping and communication skills. And, even knowing some about her past, Benedict has never had to deal with trauma like this, and doesn’t know how to spot when she’s being avoidant or know how to help her through it.

I’m wondering if Clover will eventually be the one to tell Benedict about the letter from her parents, or if he’s going to find out about the situation from someone else? I think knowing about the letter will help him understand she’s reacting from a place of pain and panic, but if someone else tells him, I think he’ll also be hurt that she didn’t tell him initially. I’m sure he never would have left if he’d know what was going on and she hadn’t insisted she was fine.
