Upon seeing a video of Trevor Fitzroy broadcasting a livestream about murdering mutants on camera, Cyclops calls up the X-Men for a meeting and he tells them that Fitzroy needs to be stopped at all costs. However, Cyclops' team is a little short-handed as the two psychics - Quentin Quire and Psylocke, are too busy with the Psychic Rescue mission. Thus, the 'Operation Stop Fitzroy' team consist of Magik (as the field team leader), Idie Okonkwo, Juggernaut and past-Beast clone. As Cyclops appoints past-Beast clone to be on Magik's team, the latter (past-Beast) protests at the idea of going on a field mission as he claims that he is busy with his projects. Magik points out to past-Beast clone that since he is on Cyclops' team, he has to do some teamwork and if he doesn't want to, then he has to join Rogue's team in Louisiana.
At Detroit, the random mutant is hunted down by Fitzroy's drones. As she collapses to the ground, Fitzroy and his All-New Upstarts hover around her and they gloat that she needs to cut down her sedentary lifestyle. Before the All-New Upstarts could advance on the exhausted random mutant, the X-Men pop out of Magik's portal to stop them. As the battle rages on, Magik fights Fitzroy but she finds herself too evenly-matched as the latter (Fitzroy) has teleporting powers too. In the middle of the fight, Juggernaut recognizes the three new Upstarts as the mutants from O-Force, the D-List mutants who used to be on the reality show like the X-Statix. As Juggernaut asks why he is murdering mutants, one of the former O-Force mutants replies that he doesn't care about morality, he only cares about fame. While Juggernaut and past-Beast clone are fighting the three new Upstarts, Idie manages to save the random mutant who did not know that she is a mutant herself. Even though Juggernaut and past-Beast clone beat up the three new Upstarts, the battle ends with Fitzroy and his new Upstarts teleporting away. Before retreating, Fitzroy gloats at the X-Men that they will always be hated and feared while his Upstarts will be loved for hunting mutants.

Ship Sunday: Connor/Hank Anderson
Tumblr media
Today, we’re highlighting HankCon, the pairing of detective Hank Anderson and his android partner Connor from the game Detroit: Become Human.
Hank and Connor's buddy-cop dynamic quickly made them a favorite duo for fans, with many viewing their relationship as one of, if not the most, well-written parts of the game. Fanworks for the pairing usually feature classic tropes like Hurt/Comfort and slow burn, as well as more kinky ones like Wireplay.
Although HankCon is the juggernaut ship of the fandom, it is also a controversial one, as some fans prefer to interpret their relationship as a platonic (pseudo) father/son relationship, while others feel uncomfortable with the supposed large age-gap between the two.
Do you ship HankCon? Visit Fanlore and consider adding to its page!

Task Force 29 operative / Juggernaut Collective agent 2029 (formerly)
Afterlife merc around 2035+ - ongoing
Jensen is described as a "working class hero" and exhibits personality traits consistent with that mentality: dependable, resourceful, curious (in a stand-offish way), and with a streak of cynicism. Jensen's childhood and experiences with his mother Margie may have impacted his life and career decisions in that it may have inclined him to a life of service and a desire to help others.
The most prominent fixed element of Jensen's personality is that he is a loner, though he was allegedly getting better before the train attack. He undertakes missions exclusively alone and rarely displays strong emotion even towards close acquaintances. He's also stoic and maybe even a bit melancholic when expressing himself, rarely showing any emotion, be it happiness, joy, sadness or anger when speaking to others. However, a few people in Jensen's life do provoke him to more emotional reactions and his inner thoughts and monologues are highly emotional, but he keeps those emotions to himself. He retains strong affection for his ex-girlfriend Megan Reed.
Despite his emotionless appearance, Adam often displays a sarcastic, sometimes ironic, sense of humor. He is both a smoker and a drinker. Jensen's preferred beard style appears to be the "anchor beard." (from author: this one I still lack of as a mode for him).
--
Head canon:
Adam officially declared dead, despite his body was never found. He survived only due to his military augmentations and after a long recovery moved to the Night City to start a new life as a merc. Since he is heavily augmented with top tier military cyberwave, Adam gain reputation among the other mercs pretty quickly as highly effective.
Jensen uses alias V for public and fake id under the name Vincent to hide his true identity. Viktor Vector is a only trusted ripperdoc who knows "his inner secret" aka his real cyberware, where it came from and assure it works properly and get constant upgrade.

Today's compilation:
25 Hard-to-Find Motown Classics, Vol. 3 1986 R&B / Soul
Alright, folks, I can't tell you what next week will bring, but rest assured that this is my last Motown comp for this particular week. And while I've been having a whole lot of fun with some surface-skimming chart-toppers over the past couple days, today, to close out this little Motown stretch that I've been on, we change course by digging a bit deeper, and getting to know some much more underrated soul and R&B gems from the enormous catalog of this indispensable juggernaut of black popular music.
I really don't even know where to begin with this final and third dispatch from this 25 Hard-to-Find Motown Classics series, but I suppose we can start with the most well-known song of the entire bunch, one-hit-wonder The Contours' "Do You Love Me," a super catchy and dancy bit of R&B from 1961 that featured the infectiously passionate shrieks of lead singer Billy Gordon. Motown owner Berry Gordy actually intended for this song to go to The Temptations, who themselves had not scored a hit yet either, but when Gordy wanted them to come and record the song, he was unable to locate them. So, he enlisted the struggling Contours to perform it to his liking instead; and they obliged, managing to net a #3 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with it.
A number of much less successful Contours singles would then end up following that one too, like 1966's terrific and uptempo "Just a Little Misunderstanding," which didn't appear on any of the group's studio albums, and was their first hit to not feature Billy Gordon on lead, either. Instead, they used Joseph Stubbs, brother of The Four Tops' own frontman Levi Stubbs, and it would turn out to be the only time that Joseph would actually lead a Contours single, as he'd vacate from the group and Motown altogether soon after. But did I mention that this song that only made it to #88 on the Hot 100 was also composed by Stevie Wonder and that he played drums on it too?😯
Now, there's so many other very high-quality tunes in this collection that I could extensively go on about here, from Kim Weston's underappreciated and heart-poured "Love Me All the Way," to a trio of songs that showcase the tremendous, high-pitched tenderness of Eddie Holland, to the Isley Brothers' "Behind a Painted Smile," which never actually managed to chart in the US; but I can't go anywhere today without gushing over this album's closer, "I Wouldn't Change the Man He Is," by the mononymously named Blinky. This lady's biggest claim to fame ended up being that she supplied the lead female vocal to the theme song for the 1970s sitcom Good Times, but this debut single of hers, which was actually written by none other than Ashford & Simpson, is really something else. It comes with wonderfully dramatic drum fills that accompany her own dynamic and very powerful voice. Blinky would unfortunately end up falling through the cracks at Motown, but she totally slayed on this underrated, rollercoastering soul nugget here 😍.
So, this is really one of the greatest Motown comps of all time, as far as I'm concerned. It's nowhere near being a cheat-code release that's made up some of the label's most popular hits, and instead digs into the vaults in order to assemble a batch of largely underheard gold.
Highlights:
Kim Weston - "Take Me In Your Arms" Kim Weston - "Love Me All the Way" Velvelettes - "A Bird in the Hand (Is Worth Two in the Bush)" Tammi Terrell - "Come On and See Me" Shorty Long - "Devil With the Blue Dress" Edwin Starr - "Agent Double O Soul" Edwin Starr - "(S.O.S.) Stop Her On Sight" Eddie Holland - "Leaving Here" Eddie Holland - "Just Ain't Enough Love" Eddie Holland - "Candy to Me" The Isley Brothers - "This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You)" The Isley Brothers - "Behind a Painted Smile" Detroit Spinners - "Truly Yours" The Contours - "Just a Little Misunderstanding" The Contours - "Do You Love Me" Marv Johnson - "Why Do You Want to Let Me Go" The Elgins - "Stay in My Lonely Arms" The Elgins - "Put Yourself in My Place" Blinky - "I Wouldn't Change the Man He Is"

So No One Told You Life Was Gonna Be This Way - Film Review: The World According To Allee Willis ★★★★
Tumblr media
Never heard of Allee Willis? If not, trust me, no matter your age, you know her work. This iconic songwriter/visual artist was responsible for writing or co-writing “September” and “Boogie Wonderland” for Earth, Wind & Fire, “Neutron Dance” for The Pointer Sisters, “What Have I Done To Deserve This?” for Pet Shop Boys, The Color Purple musical, and the inescapable earworm juggernaut that was “I’ll Be There For You”, the theme song from Friends. She also threw legendary parties at her Pee Wee’s Playhouse-style North Hollywood home and was her own work of art with her loud, colorful outfits and asymmetrical hairdo.
Director Alexis Spraic and Producers Nicholas Coles and Prudence Fenton, Allee’s partner, bring this one-of-a-kind person to vivid life in the documentary The World According To Allee Willis. The fact that Willis seemingly documented her life with over 10,000 hours of footage and every snippet of paper on which she ever scribbled out lyrics, has given the filmmakers a rich base allowing Willis to virtually tell her own story in her own voice. Combining this with sit-down interviews from a wonderful gallery of famous faces such as Lily Tomlin, Paul Reubens, Lesley Ann Warren, Bruce Vilanch, Pamela Adlon, Verdine White, Brenda Russell, Stephen Bray, Julie Brown, Patti LaBelle and many more gives us as complete a picture of its subject as possible considering Willis sadly passed away in 2019 at the age of 72.
Despite her enormous success, Willis had a complex life, with her mother dying when she was young, her father not approving of her embracing Black culture, and battles with self-esteem, her sexuality, and surprisingly with money issues. Spraic paints a warm and lovely picture of Willis, but admirably doesn’t shy away from her very human struggles. She may have been a major talent and a blast to be around, but what made her even more special were her very relatable foibles. You may end up feeling that dichotomy of knowing her and not at the same time.
Every interview feels supported by footage which amply illustrates their stories, while Allee herself dominates the film. Some of the sound and image quality may suffer, but the filmmakers have wisely chosen to put story above perfection. This allows for the many facets of Willis’ personality to shine. What surprised me the most about her was the fact that she felt lonely for much of her life but also experienced great love with her partner, Prudence. You might have thought she had amassed extreme wealth until you find out how small her percentages were with regard to song royalties. Although out to her friends, she never introduced her partner to her father nor did she really like to discuss her sexuality in public. As a woman in the music industry, she was an outlier and treated as such, only finding acceptance and celebration later in life when she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame just a year before her death.
This film should serve as a template for how to create a well-rounded portrait of a complicated person and yet still retain a sliver of her mystique. Ultimately, it’s a celebration of a highly accomplished woman who gave and continues to give big-hearted joy to our lives. The ending scene alone made me want to reach into the great beyond and dance in the streets with this special person. At a time when there’s so much conformity in our world, it feels exactly right to bow down to someone who refused to be anyone else but her wacky, driven, flawed self.
The World According To Allee Willis opens in New York, Los Angeles and Detroit on November 15th with Nationwide One-Night-Only Theatrical Screenings on November 19th, 2024 and will be available on VOD starting November 22nd.

Introduction
12 weeks into the football season and all hopes for a super bowl appearance is all but dashed. I currently root for 4 teams at the moment (I know you're not supposed to but whatever), Saints, Seahawks, Browns and Bucaneers. The Browns were cooked from the first snap but damn it the other three gave me hope. The Saints started off on fire the first 2 weeks of the season absolutely humiliating the Panthers and Cowboys. Then injuries reared their ugly head, and they lost 7 games in a row before beating the falcons oddly (fuck the Falcons).
How many times does Baker have to waste incredible performances on this damn team. The Bucaneers have played have played some really close, really great games and nearly beat the undefeated chiefs. Even through injuries to their best receivers and defensive players they played teams close. However no matter how good Baker Mayfield plays (and he is really good this year) They seem to lose in the most heartbreaking ways you can imagine. To this day their best win as a team was against the Detroit Lions who are an absolute juggernaut at the moment.
The Seahawks had the most potential coming into this season. New defensive head coach, great weapons on offense, really good pieces on defense in the secondary and pass rush. This was supposed to be their year to maybe win the division, but the same issues from last year continue to show up on game day. Poor O-line play has Geno Smith under constant pressure unable to operate in the pocket, he somehow still works miracles and is on his way to another 4,000 passing yard season. The pass rush is decent but they still can't stop the run, funny how the young defensive guru can't fix the problem the old sage couldn't remedy. I have to give Mike Mcdonald some grace though, he needs time to build his team the way he wants it and to get the defensive the way he likes it.
Sadly my season as a fan has not gone the way I wanted, there's still hope for the playoffs, but any chance of a Superbowl appearance has been completely dashed.
Yay football I guess.

NHL Buddy System Season
Or, my idea for a silly season of hockey where all 32 teams in the league are paired up with another team in a different conference. Best eight reach the playoffs, salary cap is non-existent, and everyone has to get along with each other. I'll also come up with each hybrid team's starting unit too!
So, here it goes...
Atlantic Division/Central Division
Boston Bruins/Dallas Stars - Tyler Seguin, welcome home!!
Seguin - Marchand - Pastrnak Heiskanen - McAvoy Swayman
Montreal Canadiens/Minnesota Wild - Get Flower in a Habs jersey!
Caulfield - Suzuki - Kaprizov Matheson - Spurgeon Fleury
Toronto Maple Leafs/Chicago Blackhawks - OG 6 team-up
Marner - Matthews - Bedard Reilly - Jones Stolarz
Detroit Red Wings/Colorado Avalanche - The ultimate get along shirt.
Rantanen - MacKinnon - Larkin Makar - Seider Georgiev
Buffalo Sabres/Winnipeg Jets - One team needs a goalie, the other youth.
Thompson - Scheifele - Zucker Dhalin - Morrissey Hellebuyck
Florida Panthers/Nashville Predators - Kitties unite!!!
Tkachuk - Barkov - Stamkos Josi - Ekblad Bobrovsky
Tampa Bay Lightning/St Louis Blues - Music on the beach, anyone?
Kucherov - Point - Schenn Hedman - Parayko Vasilevskiy
Ottawa Senators/Utah Coyotes - The Tkachuk Connection.
Tkachuk - Giroux - Stenlund Chabot - Marino Vejmelka
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Metropolitan Division/Pacific Division
New York Rangers/Los Angeles Kings - Gretzky's final teams.
Kreider - Zibanejad - Kempe Fox - Doughty Shesterkin
New York Islanders/Seattle Kraken - Ebs and Big Rig, welcome home!!
Eberle - Barzal - Horvat Romanov - Oleksiak Sorokin
New Jersey Devils/Anaheim Ducks - Zegras + Hughes = profit?
Zegras - J. Hughes - Vatrano Dumoulin - L. Hughes Dostal
Philadelphia Flyers/Calgary Flames - So. Much. Orange!
Huberdeau - Koneckny - Hathaway Andersson - Johnson Vladar
Washington Capitals/Edmonton Oilers - McStrome 2k25?
Ovechkin - McDavid - Oshie Bouchard - Carlson Lindgren
Pittsburgh Penguins/Vancouver Canucks - We're married already, right?
Boeser - Crosby - Rust Letang - Hughes Demko
Columbus Blue Jackets/San Jose Sharks - Sure, why tf not, y'know?
Gaudreau - Couture - Wennberg Werenski - Vlasic Merzlikins
Carolina Hurricanes/Vegas Golden Knights - A storm in the desert.
Svechnikov - Eichel - Stone Whitecloud - Burns Andersen
If anyone has any ways I could fix this, chuck them in the replies or reblogs! The teams I'm not familiar with were difficult to put a unit together for. I fear some of these teams would be literal juggernauts, and others would be just as well in the minors.
Pairings were mostly on vibes.
NFL 2024 Wildcard Round Preview & Predictions
Tumblr media
While I haven't posted any NFL blogs this season I have been sure to keep an eye on the happenings throughout the league, and we're finally in the part of the season that matters.
So lets dive in to the full plate of nuggets and preview this weekend's games.
Tumblr media
1. Detroit Lions vs Los Angeles Rams
Of all the games that will be played on this weekend, this one has the most storylines and subplots.
Starting with quarterbacks who traded places 3 years ago and now face off. Fortunately, this matchup will likely be decided by more than just the quarterbacks.
The Rams appear to have found a remedy to thier run game through Kyren Williams, who is 3rd in total rushing yards, and in contrast the Lions have a more balanced attack with David Montgomerry leading their run game and Amon-Ra St. Brown leading thier pass catchers.
This is a situation where I am opting to pick with my head over my heart, and while I'll actually be rooting for the Lions to win the game because thier story in 2023 has been phenomenal, I am going to pick the Rams and Sean McVay to win in Detroit and upset the team with a better record.
MY PICK: Rams Win 27-24
Tumblr media
2. Tampa Bay Buccanneers vs Philadelphia Eagles
I am in a state of near-catastrohic horror at what has happened to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
What started out as a promising season and Philly repeatedly executing the greatest play ever executed in NFL history, has turned into a late season collapse that started with that really bad loss to the 9ers in week 13.
Thier defensive back issues have now spiralled in to a team that leak points so badly, they lost to the New York Giants in week 17, and it's crept it's way on to the offense, and the Eagles were shutout and put up 0 points.
Then you have to factor in Philly's history against Tampa Bay itself. Flashbacks to 2002 when Gruden's defensive juggernauts domniated Donovan McNabb and the Eagles, as well as the more recent 15-31 demolition at the hands of Tom Brady's Buccaneers in the 2021 playoffs.
I will say this, I am glad that Bruce Arians isn't calling plays in Tampa because he'd air it out on these Philly db's.
My biggest concern though, is that Jalen Hurts has 9 fumbles this season and Tampa safety Antoine Winfield, is joint-leader in forced fumbles with 6, and Tampa have been good at that as a team with 18 on the season.
I'll pick the Eagles to win here, only because I still think the Eagles offense has some life left in it and I am a Jalen Hurts believer.
MY PICK: Eagles Win 21-16
Tumblr media
3. Kansas City Chiefs vs Miami Dolphins
Honestly, I don't root for the FIns and I don't even enjoy watching them play neccessarily, but I do enjoy the schadenfreud of watching Tua Tagovailoa, lead the league in passing yards and quarterback a team in the playoffs.
The Chiefs are different story and to be honest with I have enjoyed watching the Chiefs more this year, than any other season of the Mahomes era, at times it's been kind of comical.
The Dolphins are dealing with a bunch of injuries. Jaylen Waddle, Bradley Chubb, Xavien Howard, Raheem Mostert were all out in week 18 and likely in the Wildcard round too.
The Chiefs have to like thier chances and thier recievers can breath a little bit easier, knowing the Dolphins won't be thier usual high-scoring selves. I fully expect the Chief's recievers to drop passes, but this particular opponent can't make them pay them when they do it on 3rd down.
The only issue I see, is Kansas City are not a high scoring team in thier own right either, and while the Fins'injuries are worse.
I want the Fins to win but their too injured and will likely lose a close low scoring game in Arrowhead on Tyreke Hill's return.
MY PICK: Chiefs win 21-17
Tumblr media
4. Buffalo Bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers
I honestly think that the Pitburgh Steelers are doing is winning games via witchcraft because just as recenty as week 14, the entire state of Pennsylvania wanted him fired.
The Bills for thier part, started the first 10 weeks of the season with a 5-5 record and have since ripped off a 6 game winning streak that sees them in the 2 seed.
The Steelers offense sputtered badly midway through the season, but since week 16 and putting Mason Rudolph on the field, things have been looking up.
It sucks that TJ Watt won't play, he leads the league in sacks and that matters because the Bills are the best team in 3rd down percentage this season with 49%.
Buffalo finally appear to have found some balance between Josh Allen heroics and establishing the run. To make matters worse, Buffalo also rank as one of the best pass defenses in the league, ranking 7th in opponent passing yards.
What this comes down to, is that the Bills have Josh Allen and the Steelers are quarterbacked by Mason Rudolph, and in contrast to most of the weekend's games, you can't convince me that the favorite isn't winning this.
MY PICK: Bills Win 28-16
Tumblr media
5. Cleveland Browns vs Houston Texans
The Browns have been my guilty pleasure all season long, and those sideline-to-sideline videos on thier Youtube channel are honestly awesome.
A team whose defense has been lead by Myles Garret, and has had to find thier identity on the offensive side of the ball becasue of injures to 3 different quarterbacks this season, and while I don't love Kevin Stefanksi's play calling, he does deserve credit for the circumstance he was in this year and how his team kept winning.
The Houston Texans have undergone a rejuvenation in thier own right with newly drafted CJ Stroud under center.
While Deshaun Watson will have to watch his current and former teams from the sidelines as a result of a shoulder injury, Joe Flacco will quarterback the Browns and has since week 14, and with him has come a new confidence to the Browns' offense.
I'll gladly take the Browns and thier newly minted Joe Flacco offense, alongside the best defense in the NFL to win this one.
MY PICK: Browns Win 27-20
Tumblr media
6. Dallas Cowboys vs Greenbay Packers
The Packers are in a unique position because of how quickly they've gotten back to playoff contention.
I get that Jordan Love has been given the mantle as appears to have been the plan since he was drafted, and I don't know what to make of him getting the Packers to the playoffs in his first season. It's kind of unreal that the Packers got over Aaron Rodgers this quickly, add to that Love isn't the finished article yet.
The other major storyline is Cowboys head coach, Mike McCarthy playing host to his former team and that will surely dominate the headlines and previews going in to the weekend.
Dak Prescott leads the league in passes completed, as well as passing touchdowns, and CeeDee Lamb leads the league in passes caught.
Plus I like the idea of Dallas' defense against a young quarterback, playing in thier home building and Dallas corner DaRon Bland leads the league in interceptions.
I'm picking Dallas to win, but beware because anyone who picks the underdog is not crazy. Jordan Love is completing 64% of his passes and the sneaky Packers, always seem to come up with something from special teams through Keisean Nixon.
MY PICK: Cowboys win 34-27
Fantasy football QB rankings Week 8: Who will start, top sleepers at quarterback
Tumblr media
With no crew on the bye, 32 signal-callers return to our Week 8 fantasy QB rankings. Whereas this may occasionally look like an optimistic factor in concept, extra choices can complicate our start-up choices. Worry not; as a result, we're right here to help you perceive which quarterbacks have one of the best probabilities of persistently leading scoring drives, raising your fantasy soccer crew's probabilities of nabbing a dunk this coming week. Exterior of Gardner Minshew's 305-yard, four-TD effort towards Browns protection that entered Week 7 as essentially the most environment-friendly cease unit, Week 7 performed true to kind. The standard juggernaut (Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen) lived up to the hype, whereas a number of lower-tier QBs (Russell Wilson, Tyson Bagant, Brian Hoyer) had quite underwhelming fantasy days. How will all of it shake out in week 8? Extra: Watch NFL RedZone Stay with Sling (50% off first month)
Which QB is bye in Week 8?
Week 8 Commonplace Rankings: RBs, WRs, TEs and D/STs kick That being said, we nonetheless have a number of banded-up QBs to watch all through the week, so a number of fantasy homeowners will nonetheless be on the lookout for viable alternative choices. Week 8 PPR Rankings: RBs, WRs, TEs and D/STs kick
Who's one of the best fantasy QBs in Week 8?
Patrick Mahomes (@ Broncos Week 8) goals to keep up his good 12-0 file towards Denver, seeking to construct on his 300-yard, one-TD effort within the Chiefs' Week 6 win over the Broncos. Justin Herbert (vs. Bears) is licking his chops this week, going through a Bears protection that entered Week 7 permitting the fifth-most fantasy factors per recreation (FPPG) to QBs. Even when the Brian Hoare-led Raiders decelerate, search for Herbert and firm to seek out success against the Bears on Sunday night. Lamar Jackson (@Cardinals) noticed a slight improvement in his Week 8 rankings, drawing a Cardinals protection that entered Week 7 because it was the least environment-friendly protection on a down-to-down foundation, with a league-worst 50.6 percent success fee. Count on Jackson to continue his sturdy play with one other dependable fantasy day. Jared Goff (vs. Raiders) and C.J. Stroud (@Panthers) additionally sit as top-10 performers in Week 8. Fantasy homeowners might look to bench Goff after a 38-6 blowout loss to Detroit; however, Raiders protection is precisely what Goff wants. Watch her regain her confidence. Stroud is getting higher each week, and since he is a rookie, we do not fairly know his fantasy ceiling.
Who's one of the best fantasy QB sleepers and waiver pickups in Week 8?
Jordan Love (vs. Vikings), Derek Carr (@Colts), and Kenny Pickett (vs. Jaguars) profile because of the crop of sleepers and waiver-wire pickups in this week's QB-friendly matchups. Whereas the Packers offense hasn't run as easily as they'd like, Love has crushed it from a fantasy standpoint. Inexperienced Bay's QB1 enters Week 7 ranked as Fantasy QB8 in factors per recreation (19.2 ppg), and he turned in one other two-TD day towards the Broncos. An inviting matchup towards Vikings protection that ranks beneath league common in dropback EPA provides Love loads of sleeper enchantment. The Saints hope their second-half offensive surge towards the Jaguars is an indication of issues to return, and if there's ever a week to roll out Carr, Week 8 is the time. The Colts enter Week 7 permitting the eighth-most fantasy factors per recreation to a QB, so there's cause to consider New Orleans' offense will function at an environment-friendly clip and prime 300 yards via the air for the third straight recreation. Pickett drew a Jaguars protection that allowed the second-most fantasy factors per recreation to a QB getting into Week 7, and with Deonte Johnson again wholesome, we may see his finest fantasy output of the season. In deep/superflex leagues, contemplate taking Desmond Ryder (@ Titans), Gardner Minshew (vs. Saints), and Baker Mayfield (@ Payments). The Raiders and Falcons aerial assault can exploit a vulnerable Titan move protection that is among the least environmentally friendly models towards the move in comparison with its dropback EPA. We do not anticipate Minshew to copy his elite Week 7 fantasy display; however, he did a commendable job filling in for the injured Anthony Richardson. Regardless of a tricky matchup for Mayfield towards an elite Payments defensive position, a probably unfavorable recreation script permits him to put up a good fantasy day for some rubbish time factors.
Who's the largest potential QB bust in Week 8?
Joe Burrow (@49ers), Geno Smith (vs. Browns), and Matthew Stafford (@Cowboys) all noticed vital drops in their Week 8 rankings, as they have been compelled to create drives towards the league's most full protection. Barore definitely appeared like a special QB, together with his calf getting higher by the week; however, we might counsel leaving him on your bench if the 49ers matchup. Smith did not do a lot in a positive matchup against the Cardinals in Week 7, and we anticipate a harder fantasy day against the Browns this week. We'll depart Stafford with bench duties in Week 8, as now we have no real interest in beginning him towards a well-rounded Cowboys cease unit on the highway.
What were the largest QB accidents in Week 8?
Earlier than Week 7, Justin Fields (finger), Jimmy Garoppolo (again), and Daniel Jones (neck) weren't wholesome enough for accidents to sideline them in Week 8. Backup Tyson Bagent (the Chargers) will probably make his second straight start in Week 8. Nonetheless, Garoppolo ( @Lions ) is leaning towards returning to Detroit on Monday night time. We'll see if Jones can log no less than one restricted session in observe this week, probably resulting in his return to the Jets. We anticipate Tannehill (ankle) to overlook Week 8, placing Will Levis in line for his first profession to begin. Concerning in-game accidents, Deshaun Watson left the primary half with a head injury. Watson didn't undergo harm and was cleared to return to the recreation motion; however, head coach Kevin Stefanski was determined to play PJ Walker in his place. As mentioned, we put Watson in our preliminary Week 8 rankings because we predict he'll return to the field this week. We'll be updating these QB rankings all through the week, so test again for the most recent participant actions and evaluations.
Fantasy QB Rankings Week 8: Who Will Begin, Sit at Quarterback
This rating is predicated on 4-point passing TD Scoring Rank participant 1 Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs @ Broncos Lamar Jackson, Ravens and Cardinals Jalen Hurts, Eagles and Commander 4 Josh Allen, Payments vs. Buccaneers Justin Herbert, Chargers vs. Bears 6 Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins vs. Patriots Jared Goff, Lions vs. Raiders 8 CJ Stroud, Texans @ Panthers 9 Kirk Cousins, Vikings @ Packers 10 Dak Prescott, Cowboys vs. Rams 11 Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars @ Steelers 12 Jordan Love, Packers vs. Vikings 13 Derek Carr, Saints @ Colts 14 Joe Burrow, Bengals @ 49ers 15 Brock Purdy, 49ers vs. Bengals 16: Kenny Pickett, Steelers vs. Jaguars 17 Matthew Stafford, Rams @ Cowboys 18 Geno Smith, Seahawks vs. Browns 19 Desmond Ryder, Falcons @ Titans 20 Sam Howell, Commander vs. Eagles 21 Russell Wilson, Broncos vs. Chiefs 22 Gardner Minshew, Colts vs. Saints 23. Hey! I'm rather new to your blog, and you made me a bit curious. What are the (old and newe) fandoms you're addicted to? :)
--
Uh... old as in I like them currently and they are old? Old as in all the things I've been into since 1994 when I found fanfic?
I used to bounce between a million fandoms, often tiny, mostly-dead ones. Weirdly for me, I'm currently in a long BTS phase. That's pretty much the only fic I've read in the last couple of years aside from some Wen Ning porn and a brief detour back into Onmyouji fandom when the two Chinese adaptations came out.
I first found fic in X-Files fandom. I was obsessed with Scully. I didn't really care about ratboy, though I did read a bunch of badwrong fic.
In the 90s, I read a lot of Highlander and Ranma fanfic and was into manga like Crying Freeman. (Nobody really writes fic of that, do they? I vidded the live action once, but it's not really that kind of fandom.)
In the 00s, I was big into anime, especially Saitou/Sano from Rurouni Kenshin. I hung around Harry Potter fandom during the three year summer and was at Nimbus 2003. I had a Jack/Daniel from SG1 phase somewhere in there and bitterly resented all the people who got into the far inferior SGA while sneering at SG1.
Then I had a phase exploring ye olde slash fandoms that were finally all accessible on DVD, like Starsky & Hutch and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. I fell hard for Miami Vice, which got me into film editing. Too bad the main slash zine publishers loathed my fave in a racist way.
More recently, I was into the Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie big time and finnpoe for a while. I had a brief Detroit: Become Human phase. A friend just reminded me that she got me into harrisco for a hot second.
...
I dunno... I feel like this question's phrasing reminds me more of my friends who don't make things who just follow their favorite BNF authors from fandom to fandom and settle on the latest juggernaut ship for a several-year stay. That isn't how I do fandom.
Except for when I read all of astolat's Witcher fic
Cristian Vogel - “Lock Onto The Signal” Tresor 5 1997 Techno
Cristian Vogel has consistently been one of the world’s greatest experimental techno producers. Originally from Chile, he and his family fled to the UK in the early 80s to escape the brutal Pinochet regime when he was just a kid. What perhaps makes Vogel unique from most of his peers is that he has an academic background in music. Graduating from the University of Sussex with a degree in 20th century music, he was able to build the foundation for what would eventually become his “sound”. Sean Cooper, writing in AllMusic, puts it best:
Fusing the techniques of earlier Detroit, German, and English innovators with insights gained through active study of composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and Brian Eno, the results would often agitate his professors. But Vogel's knack for combining elements of flux and sound collage in a style of music normally concerned with rhythmic conservatism and strict repetition has placed him at the bleeding edge of roots-directed experimental techno.
Vogel’s music career started to take off even before he graduated from college. His earliest recordings found their way into the hands of techno and electro maven Dave Clarke and that led to Vogel’s first solo release, Infra EP, put out by Clarke’s label, Magnetic North in 1993. It was recorded in the University of Sussex studio. Ever since Clarke put Vogel on, Vogel has achieved great success as one of techno’s top experimenters.
In 1997, an exclusive track by Vogel called “Lock Onto The Signal” was released on the juggernaut Berlin label Tresor’s Tresor 5 compilation. Clocking in at a little over seven minutes, “Lock Onto The Signal” is a brilliant mid-tempo techno groove that mixes a deep, authoritarian Detroit backbeat with a scattershot of different sounds. It’s that sound collage style that Cooper refers to set over a hypnotically dystopian techno beat.
Vogel starts with these soft, metallic bludgeons, a 4/4 kick drum, a rim-shot, and some closed hats. After that, he adds in a minuscule, high-pitched, onomatopoeic vocal sample and jingling open hats. This forms the song’s dark,and industrial, Motor City foundation. With this mechanical beat in place, Vogel contrasts it by laying an emotively melancholy synth melody on top. Throughout the rest, he cuts and pastes his elements and adds in new ones, too, like a whimpering metallic chirping sound, a peppered-in robotic, modulated, and faint female vocal that says the title of the song, more layers of synths, and a hard, lo-fi, distorted, clapping, popping snare. The song peaks when Vogel manages to combine this litany of different noises all at once into one cohesive and complex concoction.
Mesmerizing and dark UK techno. Something you can dance to as well as chill and groove to. Stay the fuck inside you freaks.
I don't care how much you hate Eminem or his music, you're not erasing his legacy. He influenced 2 of today's rap juggernauts (and many more), Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. This isn't speculation, both have confirmed in interviews that Eminem was a major influence for them. #Eminem #kendrickLamar #Jcole (at Detroit, Michigan) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEDgRTzh5ss/?igshid=gsea37bgnokg
The End of Time
Tumblr media
The End of Time
The End of Time (Doctor Who) Doctor Who Christmas special Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part One & Two (DVD) This action-packed two part finale is the blockbuster final story of thetenth Doctor, David Tennant, written by Russell T Davies, the mastermind behind the rebirth of the modern Doctor Who. The story will culminate in the dramatic regeneration of the Doctor, givfans their first glimpse of the eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith. A milestone in the history of the enduring UK sci-fi series Doctor Who is reached with this two-part serial: David Tennant, whose portrayal of the iconic Time Lord is arguably the most popular since the program's launch in 1963, ended his tenure as the Tenth Doctor, along with writer-producer Russell T. Davies, who revived the series to great acclaim in 2003. The End of Time pits the Doctor against his greatest foe, the Master (a terrifically wicked John Simm), as well as the Time Lords themselves (led by Timothy Dalton as an imperious Lord President), who seek to reverse their destruction at the hands of the Doctor at the end of the Time War. The crux of the plot is good old-fashioned adventure, with the Doctor and companion Wilf (Bernard Cribbins) attempting to stay one step ahead of the universe-wide doom the Time Lords hope to unleash, but the real raison d'être for The End of Time is to give Tennant a hearty sendoff for his four years as the Doctor. Davies provides a fond and, at times, quite emotional conclusion for his hero, complete with return engagements by many of his friends and companions (among them Billie Piper's Rose, Freema Agyeman's Martha, and even Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith) before his regeneration into the Eleventh Doctor, the much-discussed Matt Smith. As finales go, The End of Time is solid science fiction from start to finish, and most likely, will leave a few Who fans feeling a bit choked up after Tennant's final scene. The supplemental features on The End of Time are more plentiful than on most of the Tennant/Who DVD releases, though still not quite on par with the archival disc presentations. Tennant is front and center, naturally, for most of the extras; he's on both commentary tracks, with Catherine Tate (Donna) and director Euros Lyn on part 1 and Davies, the amusing Simm, and Lyn on part 2. Both are exceptionally light and upbeat, as are his video diaries, which cover all of the 2009 special episodes. Then it's off to Comic-Con with Tennant and Davies for a 20-minute capsule of their appearance at the 2008 edition of the pop culture juggernaut, as well as some cute BBC Christmas IDs and a handful of deleted and mostly forgettable scenes. Episodes of the behind-the-scenes series Doctor Who Confidential round out the two-disc set. --Paul Gaita
BBC Presents: Doctor Who End of Time - In US Cinemas 8/7/19
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly ten years since David Tennant left Doctor Who in his heart-breaking finale “The End of Time”. To commemorate the occasion, BBC Studios and Fathom Events invite you to relive the agony and ecstasy of this absolutely thrilling story on the big screen. You’ll see the full two-part “The End of Time” including appearances by fan favourites Billie Piper, Catherine Tate, John Simm, Elisabeth Sladen, John Barrowman, and many more! In “The End of Time,” the Doctor’s psychotic nemesis the Master (Simm) has been reborn. Reunited with his friend Wilfred Mott (Bernard Cribbins), the Doctor desperately tries to locate the Master only to find that an even greater danger is approaching. As a terrible shadow falls across the entire universe, an ancient trap closes around the Earth. With the sound of drums growing louder, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. But sacrifices must be made, and a deadly prophecy looms: “He will knock four times.” The evening will also feature a brand new interview with David Tennant in which he reflects on his time in Doctor Who and all that has come since. You won’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime special cinema event!
