So the octopus tradition started back in 1952 when two brothers, Pete and Jerry Cusimano, who owned a fish market, decided to throw an octopus onto the ice at Olympia Stadium, with the eight tentacles of the octopus symbolizing the eight wins it took to win the Stanley Cup at the time. the Detroit red wings went on to sweep the Toronto maple leafs and the Montreal canadiens en route to winning the cup

Since 1952, people have been throwing octopuses (octopi?) onto the ice whenever the red wings play in the playoffs. The octopuses are already dead when they’re thrown, and people have come up with a specific technique on how to throw them. During the 2008 stanley cup finals, in which the red wings defeated the Pittsburgh penguins, seafood wholesalers in Pittsburgh began requiring identification from customers who purchased octopuses, refusing to sell to buyers from Michigan. I think the nhl has been cracking down on this tradition because I haven’t heard of many instances of people doing it recently

About me!

I am both an author and an artist! I draw mainly digitally, specifically on my iPad! Occasionally, especially for my art class, I draw traditionally. Currently I am using acrylics! In terms of writing, I LOVE to roleplay and I am a literate writer. I used to make actual stories until I stopped, but I still roleplay for collaborative story writing <333

I support BLM, LGBT, etc, I do not, I repeat, do not tolerate any disrespect to these movements and groups.

I am bisexual and genderfluid! My pronouns shift from time to time, but more often than not it’s usually she/them <3

I practice witchcraft! Please do not disrespect my beliefs and practice. No, studying witchcraft does not automatically mean I am a satanist or worship demons or any of that crap. It’s the practice of magic. In addition to this, I am an eclectic witch, to which I practice the following: Lunar witchcraft, green witchcraft, and cosmic (astrology) witchcraft! I am a beginner witch so I am not yet experienced PFFT

I’m American, but also half Native American (Cherokee)

My interests tend to bounce from one to the other quite a lot, so please expect me to suddenly switch fandoms! This doesn’t mean I don’t revisit fandoms, though <333

Gaming, I LOVE playing video games :00 I’ve played Skyrim, Halo, Minecraft, Cyberpunk 2077, Assassins Creed, Overwatch, Red Dead Redemption (both the first game and second game!), and much more!

I ADORE, absolutely ADORE space and astronomy. My utmost favorite movie is Interstellar, and I know a lot about space! I have a telescope at home and a stellar map that shows all of the constellations, and I like to go outside times and stargaze!

HORSES. My favorite animal in the world are HORSES! Loved them ever since I was little, and though I sadly have never been able to ride one a lot, I still know a lot of information about them!!! I watched the movies Spirit, Black Beauty (and read the original book!), The Black Stallion, War Horse, Flicka and much more. I plan to own horses in the future

I love animals, too! I have 7 pets, two birds, two snakes, two dogs, and a cat! I love all of my bbys

Soccer is my favorite sport <3

Reading

Rocks and gemology, I have a rock/gemstone collection! I have quartz, pyrite, amethyst and many other gemstones. Sometimes I even collect normal, “boring” rocks!

Psychology! I currently take AP psych and my dad is a psychologist! I love the show Brain Games, which is what originally sparked my interest in the science of the mind <33
