[ID: Bitch mail sent by Todd Beard in 1988. He wrote: ‘I was extremely disappointed by Son of The Demon. Jerry Bingham's artwork was first rate, but the story left much to be desired. I think Talia is too unbalanced for The Batman to be genuinely attracted to her, and I don't care for stories that take The Batman out of Gotham for very long. He sees himself as Gotham's guardian, and I just can't accept that he would leave Gotham for months at a time. The "torn-page" ending was a weak use of a mystery cliché. I hope that The Batman and Talia's child is never seen in the DC Universe again, and the events of Son of The Demon are forgotten.’ END ID]
“I think talia is too unbalanced for the batman to be genuinely attracted to her” he literally dresses up as a kevlar bat and nearly gets himself killed every night because he never got over his parents murders. get out of here.

Dazai canonically rambling about his loved ones at every possible opportunity is so dear to me.
Mori knew a lot of the things he did about Oda because Dazai told him. Akutagawa also knew about Oda and how important he is to Dazai because of Dazai's ramblings. Random, unnamed PM members know about Oda being very dear to Dazai, because Dazai praises him and talks about how great he is.
Chuuya knew straight away that Dazai had been speaking about him to the ADA. It wasn't something he expressed feeling betrayed or suprised about. It was just an immediate understanding that of all the ways they could probably have known about him and his ability despite it being confidential information in the PM, Dazai's ramblings were most likely the reason.
The way that Dazai speaks about Ranpo to quite literally anyone who will listen. To Fydor, to random cops, to Atsushi.
Dazai canonically brags about the people he cares about in an 'omg omg omg my person my people I love them look how amazing they are' way.

I just know that there's a record of Charles comparing his relationship with Edwin to extremely famous romantic couples.
Probably, there was a moment, during a case, with both of them in extreme danger, between the lines of:
Charles, looking down a balcony: "Isn't this just like Romeo and Juliet?!"
Edwin, who just fell two floors to the ground: "Charles, they both died!"
Charles: Just like us, mate
(he didn't finish Romeo and Juliet either)

I know in hell where Edwin meets Simon that Edwin only looks at one page, and it has S+E on it, but it's probably very likely that every page has it. So it's not just him being punished with papercuts. He also has to tear out his queer feelings essentially, and he will only be freed once the pages are all gone, but the book keeps replenishing. So, he has had to sit with the fact that he is queer and eventually started to believe that's why he was being punished. He believes it has to be torture to be queer, only for Edwin to come along and tell him that if he hates himself, he will always be tortured, and only then does he think that maybe he doesn't have to tear out the pages anymore. Because someone told him it was ok and he didn't have to punish himself.
So yeah, I love this scene a lot, and it says a lot of very interesting things.

[ID: a cropped letter from Detective Comics letter column. It's from 1967 and was sent by Mark Dillman from Topeka, Kansas. It reads, “Dear Editor: I was not overly impressed with the cover on the June Detective Comics. The colors were too bright and gay.” END ID]

do you think edwin never saw any red flags in the way charles talked about his father not just because charles was so good at hiding how it effected him and the true extent of it by only making off hand comments here and there, but also because edwin grew up in a time where corporal punishment in schools and hitting children as punishment was especially normalised? because i do. corporal punishment and caning wasn’t banned in state schools until 1986 and in private schools until 1998 and we can assume that being in a seemingly private boarding school meant it was something edwin absolutely experienced, as it was in all schools and probably homes when he was a child, and something we can assume charles probably experienced depending on how strict the school remained up until his death but that’s not really relevant. what i’m trying to say is that hitting children and pretty brutal punishment by today’s standards was incredibly commonplace for edwin, it was an everyday occurrence, so no wonder he didn’t bat an eye at charles’ offhand comments about his fathers temper. on top of that george has said that in his mind edwin’s father wasn’t a very caring man to his son which isn’t surprising considering the time period and wouldn’t have aided him in realising that something was wrong with the way charles’ father treated him (always assuming he didn’t know the extent of it, of course). edwin’s obliviousness to how much charles’ father hurt and also effected him comes from an early 1900s perspective where a comment or two about his fathers temper wouldn’t be as alarming as it was to crystal, because aren’t all fathers cold and uncaring? aren’t all children disciplined with force?
