Aoyama's Let's Talk Day 2025 Translation [Unofficial Sources]
Tumblr media
EDIT: [2025-02-01]
The official transcript has been released. Please refer to my translation of it here instead.
Yesterday was Aoyama’s yearly Let’s Talk Day, a day when a lucky few audience members chosen by lottery have the chance to ask him questions. While the Q&A hasn’t yet been officially released, I’ve translated tweets about the questions asked. I can’t guarantee that they’re 100% trustworthy, but generally most questions were posted by multiple unrelated users.
In cases where different users reported slightly different answers for the same question, I consolidated them to the best of my ability. All source tweets at the end. Without further ado:
Q. When Gin travels to other countries, does he stay at hotels, or does he have safe houses? I want to know whether he uses hotel-provided amenities like bathrobes.
A. He sleeps in his car or stays at Organization-provided lodging- the Organization has apartments all over the place. He does also stay at hotels. The FBI still hasn’t discovered them. He does wear bathrobes! He has long hair so I imagine it’s tough to wash.
Q. What sports does the England-born Akai play aside from Jeet Kune Do?
A. He learnt Jeet Kune Do from his father, so has no interest in sports other than that. But I think he might be good at cricket since he’s English. Maybe baseball in America.
Q. Does Hiro have any experience with martial arts?
A. He learnt some at the police academy. He has no other experience, but he’s decently strong- weaker than Kyogoku though.
Q. As you were a guest on Kōhaku Uta Gassen [T/N: A music show that traditionally airs around New Year’s in Japan] this year, do you have plans to write a case based around it?
A. I doubt NHK would let me (haha) I did think a music show case might be fun, but they’d probably still bother me about it.
[Questioner: What if you changed the name? Like, a West vs. East tournament.]
I’ll think about it.
Q. Will the Kuroba family and Kudo family meet each other in the future?
A. Is that something you want to see? I’ll think about it.
Q. What will Momiji do now that Heiji and Kazuha are dating?
A. I don’t think Momiji will give up? She’ll do her best.
Q. How can you think up so many different characters?
A. I don’t know (haha) Maybe because I’ve seen lots of different manga, dramas, and movies.
[Questioner: So they just pop up in your mind.]
Something like that.
Q. Do you plan to write a story where Chihaya and Furuya meet?
A. Ah, so Chihayafuru, you mean (haha) It sounds interesting, so I’ll think about it.
Q. What can you tell us about this year’s movie at this point?
A. When I told Rikiya Koyama [T/N: Mouri’s VA] that Kogoro is the main character this year, he told me he was nervous. Once he was done, Takayama-san [T/N: Conan’s VA] told him he sounded cool.
Q. What’s the best part of this year’s movie?
A. I can’t say, but I think you’ll be shocked.
Q. What’s your favourite case so far?
A. Ran GIRL & Shinichi BOY. I love it.
Q. How did Kogoro manage to become a detective without deductive abilities?
A. He doesn’t have deductive abilities, but he’s good at shooting and judo. And he has Conan around. Everything works out.
Q. Was Nakamori Aoko born in September?
A. When is good?
[Questioner: Since Kaito was born on the 21st, maybe the 12th?]
I’ll think about it. I haven’t decided, but since Kaito’s birthday is June 21st (6/21), maybe September 12th (9/12) makes sense.
Q. What kind of things does Ran talk about with her karate club friends?
A. What would you like?
[Questioner: Romance talk!]
I do think they chat about that. Everyone would be interested to hear about how things are going with Shinichi. If a scene like that ever comes to mind, I’ll think about including it.
Q. What is Furuya’s family situation like?
A. Secret, as I haven’t decided for certain just yet- it might still change.
Q. Will you ever draw the moment Kazuha fell for Heiji?
A. Do you want to see it? I might.
Q. At Abeno Harukas, Heiji confessed and was holding hands with Kazuha, but did Heiji initiate the hand-holding?
A. Yes. I don’t know if I’ll ever draw that though.
Q. At Kōhaku Uta Gassen, were there any artists you enjoyed other than aiko, B’Z, and Fukuyama-san?
A. Ah, I can’t think of anyone but them. But they were all good. B’z was amazing. It was all dark in the audience seating, but when I thought “oh, something is moving,” it was truly amazing by the end. B’z is my choice! (haha)
Q. Do you have any plans for a spinoff featuring Hattori?
A. Like Zero’s Tea Time?
[Questioner: More like Hanzawa-san.]
What’s the difference between Zero’s Tea Time and Hanzawa-san? Did you want a spinoff? There’s no plans for one right now.
Q. Are there any characters you plan to have romantic developments for in the near future?
A. Kansuke and Yui, and Juugo and Chihaya… aside from that [glances at the moderator] that character… if I say who it is, we’ll get flamed online, so… (haha)
[The audience goes abuzz]
Well, yes. I can’t tell you right now (haha). Let’s leave it at that.
Q. What’s the plan for next year’s movie?
A. I can’t say, but they do already have it planned.
Q. Who will be the star of next year’s movie?
A. I can’t say, but it’s already been decided as well as the stage.
Q. I’m from Hokkaido. Do you have plans to draw any famous tourist spots in Sapporo?
A. Hakodate was recently the stage, so it would need to be some time in the future. Any recommendations?
[Questioner: Suzukake Park, Oodori Park, Sapporo TV Tower.]
Ah, got it, I’ll think about it.
Q. We know that Azusa has worked at Poirot for at least one year, but how long has she worked there in total?
A. I don’t know. Maybe since she was in high school. Oops, I just said whatever.
Q. Any plans for a movie set in Tottori?
A. Not at this time. I’ll think about it. I did try to incorporate the Tottori dialect once, but I was told it was incomprehensible. Tottori dialect is pretty hard. If we do a movie here, I’d like it to use Tottori dialect.
Q. It seems Momiji won’t give up even now that Heiji and Kazuha have gotten together, but will Iori continue to serve Momiji in the same way? Will he ever leave due to his old work?
A. He’ll be by her side forever. I think he’ll protect her until the day he dies.
Q. What would you want to eat at a Conan café?
A. Naporitan spaghetti. I have childish tastebuds, so I also like Hamburg steak and hamburgers.
Q. I like aiko, so I want to hear the behind-the-scenes details about your talk with her on Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
A. During our preparatory meeting, I asked whether I should say “Funya!”, but I was told I couldn’t (because it’s from a different agency.) [T/N: Not familiar with this myself, but maybe it’s some idol’s catchphrase or a reference to a show.]
[Questioner: After meeting aiko, did any murder case ideas come to mind?]
No (haha) It would be sad to kill her off. Maybe a case with a singer involved… I’ll think about it. Aiko was cute.
Q. Kurayoshi’s phone number area code is an important plot point in Conan, but will the city be involved in the future?
A. A coincidence. Kurayoshi residents will get mad at me otherwise.
Q. What did you do for New Year’s as a child?
A. Usually my family would ask me to visit a shrine with them, but I’d stay at home since it was too much of a pain. These days, I always go for my health. [T/N: In Japan, it’s tradition to visit a shrine on the first day of the new year.]
Q. What’s Inspector Ayanokouji’s personal life like? What are his hobbies?
A. He feeds Maro-chan. Hobbies… I wonder. He does like Maro-chan. What would you like?
[Questioner: Something like archery.]
Archery? Well, I’ll think about it.
Q. Do you have any plans for a triple date with Heiji-Kazuha, Shinichi-Ran, and Kyougoku-Sonoko?
A. I hadn’t thought of that before, but I’ll think about it.
[Questioner: So you don’t plan to think about it.]
Sorry (haha).
Q. Any information on Akai and Amuro’s chat nine hours later?
A. I can’t say. It’s a truly mysterious tea party (haha)
Q. In your Professional interview, you were eating curry, but is there any other food or snacks you like to eat while working?
A. I only really eat cheap stuff, so (haha)  I’m really into the beef don mini-pack from Yoshinoya- it’s a pretty small portion. It’s healthy and good. Also, curry from Coco.
Q. The Saitama prefecture is right next to Tokyo, but has never made an appearance. Any plans for Saitama prefecture police to appear?
A. Yokomizo did show up in Saitama at first, but he did move to Shizuoka, so (haha) I tried to have him go back, but I was told that then it just seemed like he never moved at all. I’ll write about Saitama eventually. I’ll think about it.
Q. What does Kazuha like aside from aikido?
A. She likes Heiji… (haha) I think she likes cooking just like others like her would. Do you have any thoughts on what she might like?
[Questioner: What…]
[Moderator: Well, that’s what they wanted to know in the first place.]
I’ll think about it.
Q. I’m from Taiwan. Conan has only ever gone to England in the manga. Will he ever go to another country in the manga, not the movies?
A. It would be tough while he’s still Conan, as he doesn’t have a passport. His only choice is for Kid to stuff him into a suitcase, but I can’t use the same trick twice (haha) I’d like to go to Taiwan one day.
Q. Akai and Amuro infiltrated the Organization and know about Sherry, but don’t know of the existence of APTX4869?
A. They do not. There’s a reason why the details of her research and her family isn’t well-known in the Organization, but that’s secret. Even parents wouldn’t tell their children about it in the Organization.
Q. Do you plan to introduce any new Organization operatives?
A. What would you like?
[Questioner: Amaretto!]
I'll think about it.
Q. Do you plan to draw Shinichi and KID facing off?
A. Shinichi. You mean big Shinichi, huh? I’d love to. (haha)
Q. What last name do you like, or would like to have?
A. Kudo! (haha) Since Kudo Yuusaku as portrayed by Matsuda Yuusaku was cool. If I can, I’d love to become one! (haha)
Q. Did you decide that Heiji would confess on a tall Osaka building even before the Abeno Harukas tower was completed? [T/N: It opened in 2014]
A. I decided after the Abeno Harukas tower was completed. But I did know from the start that Kazuha’s mother would make an appearance to include a twist.I wanted everyone to think that he’d confess to her mother by mistake.
Q. Who’s stronger between Kogoro and Ran?
A. That’s quite the question (haha) Kogoro is strong! But, Ran is catastrophically strong too (haha). I think it’s hard to say? But if they fought against each other, he’d probably hold back against Ran. Since he’s her dad.
Q. You can really feel the cultural differences between Kyushu and Tokyo. Do you plan to write a case based on that?
A. I’d like to.
Q. Do you have any special tidbits for us aside from what you’ve already told us?
A. Kansuke and Yui and Koumei’s childhood will appear in the movie. Take a good look at the illustration I drew for the Conan Tanteisha store as well.
Q. Anything you’d want to incorporate into Tottori’s Mystery Tour? Tourist spots and restaurants you’d recommend?
A. I’d like them to make use of Tottori’s Odaiba, crabs, and apple-pears.
Q. Who’s the tallest among all your characters?
A. Date and Gin! Kyougoku is a little shorter, but those three are the tallest. Kazami is too tall in the anime. He should be the same height as Furuya. [T/N: One source also claimed he said that Gin is taller than Date.]
Q. Will Miyano Shiho and Kudo Shinichi ever star in the same case?
A. Ah, I can’t tell you that. Whoops, I almost let something slip (haha)

AU where:
Roier is the Federation’s newest agent, recently drafted out of Quesadilla Island’s police academy. He’s young and inexperienced and kinda super new to being a government agent.
He’s also the guy sent downstairs to work with the Federation’s least favorite employee, former genius and current crackpot conspiracy theorist Cellbit, who has spent the past six months of his employment holed up in the basement looking into things the Federation just really doesn’t need to be bothering with.
See, Cellbit believes in aliens. And the supernatural. And the existence of shady government agencies working from the shadows. He believes in them to much that he quit his old job working as a detective and joined forces with the Federation so he could prove the existence of the unexplained, so-called ‘enigmas’. Or, as the Federation labels them, ‘X-Files’.
But, recently, he’s kinda stopped going on missions. Instead, he’s been in his office, and he won’t leave his office.
But, well. Now he has Roier, doesn’t he? A plucky younger agent ready to go on his first field missions, what else could a crazy researcher ask for? So what if they’re going out investigating the impossible? It’s getting Cellbit out of the office, isn’t it?
(And perhaps Roier isn’t as inexperienced as he seems. Maybe he’s actually a psychologist brought in undercover and finding his morals very compromised because… well. Cellbit is very nice to look at. And he isn’t even crazy, he’s just sad and lonely, and if that makes someone insane, then Roier needs to be investigating himself, too.)
Or: the q!Cellbit Federation Arc/Project Bluebird X-Files au I’ll never end up writing

Do Gallifryans/Time Lords have a similar chromosome structure as us humans? Are there any vast differences? I'd imagine they have at least double the chromosomes we have, or perhaps don't even have pairs, rather groups of three (e.g. XYZ) or something alike.
What's the structure of Gallifreyan DNA?
🧬 Gallifreyan Chromosomes + triple helix
Unlike a human's double-stranded DNA, we know that Gallifreyans rock a triple helix with 69 chromosomes arranged in three sets of 23. This triad structure introduces a level of genetic complexity that includes basic abilities related to time phenomena and psionic capabilities.
🌌 Rassilon's Strand
However, Time Lords take it up a notch. Upon completing their education at the Time Academy, Gallifreyans undergo a transformative exposure to the Eye of Harmony's time energies, integrating what we'll term as 'Rassilon’s Strand' into their genetic makeup. This is what makes a Time Lord.
This fourth strand provides the following abilities:
More stable regenerations: Slightly less worry about turning into a sentient cactus or something.
Time sense boost: Like becoming a living clock.
TARDIS BFFs: This strand is why they can bond with their TARDISes. Without it, time travel would be a no-go.
Matrix connection: Keeps you constantly logged into Gallifreyan Ancestral Memory Facebook.
🔬 Detecting and Inheritance
You can't just spot this extra DNA strand with regular equipment - you need some fancy temporal scanning tech to see it. It's a form of temporal encoding, where the genetic information transcends physical structures and resonates with time itself. Plus, because it's artificially added and 'earned', 'Rassilon’s Strand' isn't passed down through genetic inheritance/normal reproduction.
🏫 So ...
So, in short, Gallifreyan/Time Lord DNA is like the deluxe edition of genetics. More complex, more strands, and packed with stuff that make time travel a genetic obligation.

WIP guessing game: hug or afraid?
So I took a while to answer this one because it turned out that windows had stopped checking my .odt files for matching text when I do folder searches. Which was annoying. So I fixed that by updating LibreOffice which corrected how Windows does it's searches. For now anyway. Goodness knows Windows will eventually undo that on an update. >_<
hug:
Laughing at the mishap, the man threw his arms around Icheb in a friendly hug.
From a fic where Q Jr, who has had being in his dad's 'eternal custody' turn out to be not so eternal, immediately lands in trouble on his own. Which is, surprisingly, not actually his fault this time. He's temporarily powerless and fled to his Aunt Kathy for safety and so long as he's at Starfleet Headquarters with Starfleet Academy just next door... might as well go hang out with his bestie.
Meanwhile, the Academy isn't quite what Icheb was hoping for. Though he's excelling academically, socially... he doesn't feel like he's fitting in. So having his best friend show up to hug him? Really makes Icheb's day.
One of these days I'm gonna be re-inspred for this one and finish it up.
afraid:
Because, well... Wally saw their dad already had Barry, the genius foster son with a masters in Forensic Science and a job working side by with Detective West every day, and was afraid that their dad didn't really need or want another son.
From a fic where Wally was newly introduced to the West family at the time of the Pilot Episode, under similar circumstances to what happened in S2, and he spends Barry's time in the coma bonding with the rest of the family and regretting that by the time he was ready to stop seeing Barry as a threat... well... coma.

RAY! RAY! RAY! I HAVE SOMETHING TO GUSH ABOUT!
So I was watching the Tatsumi family episode in the Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo anime, you know that one? Contemporary with Detective Conan and written by the same person as Detective Academy Q? That one? Yeah.
So anyway Kindaichi, our highschool detective is in a remote village investigating the death threats send to the second wife of the prominent Tatsumi family, which was signed Cursed Warrior. The village is obsessed with warriors by the way, festivals, parades, statues, a whole galore. The family had a curse placed on them by a betrayed warrior from 400 years ago as well.
To spice it up, the second wife's son was surprisingly put down in the will as the heir to all of the Tatsumi family fortune, chosen by the late master of the house over his actual blood related children, so there was inheritance war happening between the elder blood son and the second wife's son. So this Cursed Warrior thing might be related to that instead of some curse.
Ah... Spoiler alert for anyone who wants to watch the episodes I guess? It's 17,18, and 19 of the Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo anime, classic series that is, not the Returns one.
Okay so it turns out that the second wife was harassed by the first wife in her youth and when she found out that they were both going to the same hospital for their pregnancies, she switched the children. And then later, when her own child, Ryounosuke and her stolen child, Seimaru were adults, somehow she entered the family as a servant and was then chosen as stepmother by the master of the house upon his wife's death. She did the switch so her son would have a wealthy life but then her stolen child, the actual blood son of the family was surprisingly chosen as heir in a twist of fate. Ryounosuke, now the Tatsumi family eldest had hated her and Seimaru for being threat to his inheritance so Seimaru had proclaimed that he would outst him from the family instead after hearing the will. She felt as if her old harasser was winning through Seimaru.
So she killed him. Seimaru, who had fed from her breast, who had loved her, who had taken care of her, and defended her from the Tatsumi family after her husband's death, who had only declared that he would throw Ryounosuke out because he insulted her, the child she had raised, the child who loved her....and she killed him. For someone who had done nothing but repeatedly insult her and implied with relish that she was a slut.
For fucks sake, the first glimpse of Seimaru we get is him rushing to her side cos he heard she was sick.
Blood of the covenant was thicker than the water of the womb but evidently the covenant meant nothing to her.
To her blood was thicker than water and that's where it ended.
She didn't even regret it.
And ironically blood bred true, cos once the secret was revealed and Ryounosuke's own misdeeds were unearthed, including attacking his other brother way earlier, her own actions made sure that her son would never get that inheritance.
And it was all beautifully foreshadowed in the character design, with Seimaru looking quite similar to Moegi and Hayato, the other Tatsumi children, while Ryounosuke looked very different, and even acted different, but it was subtle enough that we would only notice it once the truth was revealed.
So I did not expect this kind of juicy family drama from an old detective anime and I am pleasantly surprised. The cold blooded actions of the woman was shocking. This is the sort of impact I want from shows but nobody's providing them.
Just wanted to share this with you! Thoughts?
Sounds to me like this is a classic anime I need to bump up my list of shit to watch cause goddamn

it's interesting how insecure of his masculinity vab!quackity is 🤨 like from appearances alone, you'd think he'd feel equal in his relationship with wilbur bc other than being lanky with no muscle, wilbur's a twink who's been thru the most awful and traumatic shit ever because of his more "feminine" features. but i do get how vab!q feels the way he does 🤔
like, wilbur towers over q, and even tho he's dating mr 6 foot 5, q's probably still on the shorter side for men. i mean wilbur definitely doesn't have much of a muscle building routine so it's also notable that he was able to lift q completely off the ground in his vice like grip, like if q hardly weighs a thing. quackity was a detective in new york and has always wanted to prove to people that he's capable of solving crime and taking down criminals, but who knows if his smaller size (and nothing being said on him being particularly strong to make up for it) and him being gay (which his whole family frowned upon) made it harder for him to achieve the dream job he wanted, be it because of his more masculine and tough competition in the police academy or by lack of faith from his family and friends that he'd make it.
in the first book he didn't rlly feel emasculated by wilbur, but wilbur was playing him like a fool the whole time and even before he found out that wilbur was manipulating him, there was clearly a lot of mockery and belittlement thru other means in their rocky dynamic from back then. now that q gave up his position as detective and his groundbreaking case to another detective, wilbur's been seen mocking q's passion for detective work and belittling his skills and profession, not respecting q's boundaries in front of his colleagues and boss (not just the hug but also making a larger scene when q said not to talk about sex at work) and it's making him look like a real tool a pushover at work
vab quackity doesn't have a traumatic ex relationship with a schlatt, but clearly he's still like cq in that he's always had a struggle in life to maintain his image of self worth and it's still a big obstacle in having a healthy relationship with the guy who's always started off with having a competitive and toxic dynamic with him

Anyway yeah, this is such an excellent analysis idek what to say, I have nothing to add here, you just really really exactly nailed it so much that it's just making me smile/scream so

Far from where we live / I have not learned to forgive
Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem reader Category: angst / multi-chapter / case / second chance Word count: 2,1k  CW: language, canon typical violence pt 1
“I was remediated in the academy also... what was my issue? Marksmanship, physical training, obstacle course, Hogan's Alley, you know, pretty much everything that wasn't technically book related. They ultimately had to make exceptions to allow me into the field.”
Called to Texas on a case, Spencer is confronted with a ghost.
Tumblr media
Present, Austin, TX
As soon as Spencer Reid steps off the jet at Austin-Bergstrom, he is hit with an overwhelming sense of foreboding.
Maybe it’s the oppressive July heat. Maybe it’s the fact that he’s never liked Texas. Maybe it’s the grisly nature of the case Penelope has just briefed the team on, during the flight.
Maybe it’s intuition, but of course, intuition is just your brain picking up on subtle signs without consciously processing them. He wonders what signs he’s receiving right now.
Derek elbows him, indicating the simmering tarmac with his chin. “Reid, keep it moving, buddy. Cars are waiting to take us downtown.”
* * *
The APD headquarters on 8th street are a brutalist eyesore, but Spencer’s relieved all the same to walk into the airconditioned lobby.
Detective Nguyen, a strikingly handsome man with a permanent worry line etched between his brows, hands him a security pass. “This’ll get you through the gates down here, and into the Homicide offices up on the sixth floor.” He pushes the button for the elevator, now addressing Hotch: “I’m so glad you and your team could come. We’ve honestly never seen anything like this.”
Spencer catches a glimpse of himself in the elevator mirror, crowded behind JJ, Emily, and a couple of uniformed officers. He looks tired, the skin under his eyes faintly purple. He runs a hand over his face.
The elevator pings for the sixth floor, and Hotch and Nguyen take the lead heading right, down a hallway with coffee-stained carpet and fading official portraits of APD detectives long gone. Nguyen motions them into a conference room set up with already-overcrowded whiteboards, stacks of paper littering the dinged-up tables at the center of the room.
On the far side of the space, wall-to-ceiling windows afford a view of a busy elevated highway and a Shell station, baking in the heat. In front of these stands a woman, pinning crime scene photos to the divider between the windows, clearly having run out of other available space.
“Everyone,” Detective Nguyen says, as the woman turns around, “This is Detective Valdez, my partner and co-lead on the case.”
The woman turns around, and Spencer feels like he takes a punch to the gut before even fully processing what he’s seeing.
You.
He sees you realize, at the same exact moment he does. You falter midway through extending your hand to Hotch, then visibly pull yourself together.
“Agent Hotchner. Jim and I are so grateful you and your team could make it.” Letting go of Hotch’s hand, you gesture around the room. “If you want to make yourselves comfortable, I can answer any questions you may have left over from the briefing.”
Spencer feels lightheaded. He feels – furious. Ten years, and you want to move right into the Q&A?
Irrationally, he thinks he should’ve stayed on the jet like his gut was telling him to. Irrationally, the first thing he says to you, after ten years, is: “Your name’s not Valdez.”
* * *
You are working what may be the most high-profile case of your career when Spencer fucking Reid comes in and shifts reality into a different fucking dimension.
But you are a professional. You are an APD homicide detective with 8 years seniority and an eighty-one per cent clearance rate and hard-earned thick fucking skin. So you allow yourself to miss one single beat before shaking his boss’s hand and getting back to business.
“Your name’s not Valdez.”
You are very, very careful to keep your face neutral even as it feels like the bottom has dropped out of your stomach.
You face Spencer, head-on, like you always face things: “It’s my married name.”
Watch as his jaw twitches, almost imperceptibly, but not to you.
One of his teammates, a good-looking man with a glint in his eye, quirks his eyebrow. “You two know each other?”
With a sinking feeling, you answer: “We were at the Academy together. Briefly.”
As his teammates find their way to chairs in various states of disrepair, you hear Spencer add: “Very briefly. She never graduated.”
The venom in his voice is evident, and you steel yourself.
* * *
You hadn’t known.
Had studiously avoided keeping up with Spencer’s career. Figured he’d either rise up fast through the ranks of the Bureau, or end up with a Fox Mulder-style basement office, chasing specters and cults and aliens. You were sure he’d be spectacular at either, but you hadn’t wanted to know.
It would’ve been too painful, when you first came back to Texas with your tail between your legs, having to ask for your job back with the Border Patrol, the job you’d come to despise. Too painful to keep tabs on Spencer, as he was living your dreams of working for the FBI.
Too painful not to block it all out, yet you could still feel his thumb brushing your cheekbone, his hand in your wet hair, his lips on yours with disturbing accuracy.
You take a deep breath, down the dregs of your terrible coffee despite the late hour, and rub your browbone with the heel of your palm. The sixth-floor breakroom is covered in out-of-date flyers and still smells vaguely of the gallon jar of pickle juice Castillo dropped in here two weeks ago, but at the moment it’s your haven.
Then, as if sensing you taking two minutes to collect your thoughts for the first time since early afternoon, Spencer walks in.
* * *
“Detective Valdez.”
It is hard for him to say. He can’t wrap his mind around it, and though he’s carefully avoided thinking of you for the better part of the last decade, it still seems wrong for you to be different than when he knew you.
He watches you move your hand from your brow, the fine band of white gold on your ring finger making something in his stomach twist, before you sigh: “Doctor Reid.”
Away from the questioning eyes of his teammates, he allows himself to linger on you for more than a few seconds. You look older, harder, your face thinner. Something sad has settled in your eyes that wasn’t there ten years ago.
He thinks of his own scars, needle marks, Maeve, and wonders what it was for you.
“Doctor Reid,” you say again, and that feels wrong too. It’s a knife to the gut, thinking of the way you used to call him kid and then just Reid or Spence and then, on a few memorable occasions he has committed to a far and buried corner of his heart, sweetheart.
“We have to,” you continue, and somehow he’s surprised you are still speaking, your eyes closed now: “We have to put whatever happened in the past behind us. I know you might still be pissed at me, and you have every right to be, but know that I tried to make amends many times when you wouldn’t take my calls.”
You open your eyes to fix him with a stare, and Spencer swallows. “This case is everything to me, and I can’t see another girl killed, and so whatever happened in the past needs to stay there, okay?”
And in spite of everything, Spencer could never say no to you, so he nods dumbly and says: “Okay, Detective Valdez.”
 * * * * * 10 years ago, MCB Quantico, VA
Spencer Reid will get through this just fine.
Or at least that’s what he has to keep repeating to himself, against the tightening feeling in his chest.
“Kid!” Supervisory Agent Lemoore yells into his megaphone, across the expanse of wet grass. “You’re not done. Give me ten more.”
Spencer groans and drops to the ground, his arms struggling to cooperate. By the time he’s finally finishing his push-ups, he feels sick.
Not for the first time this week, he wonders what the hell possessed him to apply to the Academy. He could’ve been in pre-med right now. He could’ve had his pick of scholarships, of placements. He could’ve been back in Vegas, betting the house. Anywhere but here.
Lemoore’s voice booms over the field again: “Alright. To finish for today, you’re going to do a shakeout run along the trail through the woods. It’s three miles. I expect you all to report to the mess hall at 6 PM sharp.”
He brings down the megaphone, but his voice can still be heard by half of Spencer’s class as he orders: “Dallas, stick with the kid. He looks like he’s about to keel over.”
Staring at the ground, Spencer’s face burns. He feels like he’s back in high school, being humiliated by kids older and stronger than him. I should never have come here.
Then you nudge his arm, and he looks up, and immediately forgets all about it.
* * *
“Reid, right? Come on.” You nudge him again, slightly worried that Lemoore was right and that this guy is about to be sick all over his brand-new sneakers.
Finally, he shakes his head, seemingly trying to focus. “Yes. Sorry, let’s go.”
You fall into a jog, heading towards the edge of the woods, where most of your cohort has already disappeared. Keeping your pace slow, you wait for your new classmate to fall into step with you.
There are almost a hundred and twenty recruits in your class, ranging from fresh college grads to people in their mid-thirties, veterans, ex-police, civilians. Your roommate’s a 34-year-old former in-house lawyer for Delta who decided six months ago that she was tired of negotiating aircraft financing contracts.
You think this kid’s probably the youngest amongst all of you. He looks like he should be in high school.
He’s breathing heavily, so you slow down a little more, rounding the first bend in the trail. “Hey, Reid. How old are you?”
“I’m 21,” he gasps, with a defensive undertone. His voice is a little squeaky, and you find it endearing.
“Relax.” You grin over your shoulder at him. “I don’t mean anything by it. Just curious. I’m 23.”
He colors a little, at that. “Sorry. I’m just not sure how I feel about getting stuck with that kid nickname for the next twenty weeks.”
“Lemoore just doesn’t want to admit he can’t remember anyone’s name.” You smile at him, as he seems to be rallying a little bit, getting into the rhythm of the run. “I mean, I got stuck with Dallas, and I’m not even from there. I’m from San Marcos. They’re like, a full three hours apart.”
He looks surprised, then laughs, and it looks good on him. “Shit, sorry, I just assumed that was really your name. What is it?”
You tell him, and then speed up the pace a little bit, challenging him to keep up with a laugh.
* * *
At 6 PM sharp, as instructed, Spencer is in the mess hall. As he steps into the dining room with his tray, a slight panic overtakes him, because this too feels reminiscent of high school: not having anyone to sit with.
The first two nights he’d sat with Ethan. But then, this morning, Ethan hadn’t shown up to their introductory class on investigative techniques. He’d had to call him during a ten-minute break only to learn that Ethan had decided to drop out.
“I’m sorry, man.” Ethan had sighed down the line, sounding like he’d rather have hung up. “It’s just not for me. I made a big mistake even coming down here. I’m gonna try to get my place at UCB back.”
Just like that. Leaving Spencer here in Quantico alone. In over his head.
He’s just realizing he’s been standing rooted to the spot too long, with his tray, and that he’s going to look weird, when he hears his name called: “Reid! Over here!”
And there you are, waving him over to a busy table at the far end of the room.
He walks over and sits down, trying to suppress a relieved smile: “Dallas.”
You grin back. “Kid.”
A burly guy next to you looks up, a forkful of mashed potatoes halfway to his mouth, and frowns: “What is this, a spaghetti western?”
You shove him lightly, then gesture across the table. “Booster, this is Reid. Reid, Booster.” You grin over at the man, who looms at least a full head above anyone else at the table. “Well, really his name’s Kozlowski, but you can’t expect Lemoore to remember that.”
Indicating the woman next to Spencer, you continue: “And this is Singh, my dorm neighbor. He remembers her name, because it’s short, but also because I suspect he’s slightly scared of her.”
The woman turns to Spencer and gives him a smile and a little wave with her fork. “You can just call me Savi.”
“Oh my God, kid,” you say, and your eyes are so warm, your smile so bright, he almost has to look away. “Tell her what you told me earlier about the unsolved cruise ship disappearances.”
And just like that, something starts to uncoil in Spencer’s stomach, and he feels like things might be okay.

Oh hey... it's been a while since I haven't posted that much on this account since I have done the Morgana design for the AU itself, but since it is almost the end of 2023, it's the holidays and I recently started playing Persona 5 Tactica this month and with me thinking... Man I should make more AU designs on the characters again and well, I'm doing it again!
And it's not one, not two... but three character designs I have made for the AU as like a early Christmas present for you guys, so I hope you like my own take on them!
Do note that there are stuff that I might have to change for both the character designs, their codenames and their descriptions too!
Ryuji Sakamoto (Codename: Athlete)
Tumblr media
Here's everyones favourite bro character that always likes to say "For Real?!?", which he is the AU swap version of Ann Takamaki, I wanted to keep "some" of the appearance of his original game counterpart, but giving him casual clothing.
Ryuji is a first year in Shujin Academy and is part of the track team, where he has been looking out for his childhood friend, Takeishi since they were kids (Yes, it's the same Takeishi that was seen in one of Ryuji's Confidant event in the game), but after what happened in the incident with Takeishi taking the very same fate like with Shiho in Persona 5, he has decided to join The Phantom Thieves to also help reform society itself!
Sumire Yoshizawa (Codename: Coach)
Tumblr media
The character that was introduced in the re-release of Persona 5 in the form of Persona 5 Royal, and will be the AU swap version of Yusuke Kitagawa!
She's both a second year student and a sports coach at Shujin Academy that helps out the different students for sporting activities in the school's gym, Sumire really has been interested on the Phantom Thieves ever since they were being talked about in the school, but the reason for that is because she has requested them through the Phan-site all because of her own father forcing her on getting into fashion instead of sports.
Goro Akechi (Codename: Mysterious)
Tumblr media
Now to finally end it off here is by showing off Goro Akechi in the AU itself where I have taken the whole "Detective" thing too seriously for him lol, but he's the AU Swap version of Makoto Niijima.
He's a third year in Shujin Academy and is also the prince detective that everyone has been awing for (especially his own fangirls on different Internet forms), he actually has been cousins with Futaba ever since his mom and Futaba’s mom, Wakaba are in good relations with each other due to them being researchers back when they were college students ages ago.
Akechi is quite suspicious on the whole Phantom Thieves thing since they were being spreaded around like wildfire and has been talked around in school, but after soon finding about his cousin is the leader of The Phantom Thieves after spying on Futaba, he has been wanting to join them is due to him currently on an investigation on a problem that has been going on with a new type of drug that has being secretly shared all around the school from some students.
I wanted to carry elements for Akechi in the AU with stuff like him being based on Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4 and even wanting Akechi in the AU to be inspired by Sam from Sam & Max because I just find it a perfect fit for him in my take in this AU itself.
And that's about it, with next year in 2024 I do plan on wanting to draw the next few characters that I really wanted to try and do, which would be Ren, Yusuke, Makoto and Haru, but maybe I might draw the characters that we're in the Persona 5 spin-offs, and even the Persona Q games too!
So I hope you all have yourselves a Happy Holidays!

Aoyama's Let's Talk Day 2025 Translation [Official Source]
Tumblr media
They've released the official transcript for Aoyama's yearly Let’s Talk Day, a day when a lucky few audience members chosen by lottery have the chance to ask him questions. The official transcript has a lot more (haha)s, but I translated it regardless.
Generally, there was no new Conan information in the official transcript compared to my unofficial sources translation, but some of the discussions Aoyama had with the audience members were described in more detail compared to tweets about the event.
The official transcript redacted questions that were considered "secret". Some of these questions were reported by unofficial sources. For simplicity, I've included a list of these questions with their sources at the end of this post from my original translation.
Without further ado:
Q&A with Aoyama Gosho-sensei
Questions from Middle Schoolers and Younger
Q. Will the Kuroba family and Kudo family ever properly meet each other?
Aoyama: Huh? In the future?
Questioner: Yes, in the future.
Aoyama: Ah, well… they won’t, but do you want to see it? (haha)
Questioner: I want to see it. (haha)
Aoyama: Then I’ll think about it. (haha)
Questioner: Thank you very much. (haha)
[The audience claps.]
Moderator: “I’ll think about it,” is a great answer, sensei (haha)
Aoyama: Right? (haha) It really is great (haha)
Q. After appearing on Kōhaku Uta Gassen [T/N: A music show that traditionally airs around New Year’s in Japan], do you have plans to write a case based around it?
Aoyama: Ah.. (haha) Right. (haha) Well… I wonder, there’s NHK to worry about. Ahaha…
[The audience laughs.]
Aoyama: They might not allow it. (haha) Well, I did think something like a music show case might be fun, but it might also be troublesome. (haha)
Moderator: What if you changed the name? Like, a West vs. East tournament.
Aoyama: Right… a music show murder case. (haha) But yes, I’ll think about it. (haha)
Q. What will happen with Momiji now that Heiji and Kazuha are dating?
Aoyama: Right… Momiji herself hasn’t given up, so. (haha) I’m sure she’ll be doing her best in the background somewhere. Something like that. (haha)
Moderator: So you’ll have her do her best. She’s like, a woman who doesn’t give up?
Aoyama: That’s right. (haha)
Q. Why can you think up so many different characters?
Aoyama: I have no idea. (haha) It kinda just pops up in my mind. I guess I’ve uh, watched a lot of movies?
Moderator: If I recall correctly, last year you mentioned that a large number of criminals have appeared but you’ve never drawn the same person twice. That you change them in some way every time.
Aoyama: Mm… yes. (haha) That’s right. (haha) I watch lots of movies and dramas and manga. (haha)
Moderator: So it kinda just pops up in your mind. That’s amazing.
Aoyama: It kinda just pops up. (haha)
Questions from the Entire Audience
Q. Do you plan to write a Police Academy-related case where Chihaya-san and Furuya-san meet, or cooperate to solve a case?
Aoyama: Ah, so Chihayafuru, you mean. (haha) Right… it does sound a little interesting, so I’ll think about it. (haha)
Moderator: “It sounds a little interesting”? Don’t tell me you stole that idea just now. (haha)
Aoyama: Ahaha.
Q. What’s your favourite case among those you’ve written until now?
Aoyama: Ah, that would be Ran GIRL and Shinichi BOY of course. [Detective Conan Vol. 87] Not to toot my own horn, but I do think it came out well. (haha)
Moderator: Every year you talk about how you love Ran-chan, romance, and love comedies after all.
Aoyama: That’s right. (haha)
Q. [Asked by a small boy] How did Kogoro become a detective when he’s not good at deductions?
Aoyama: Ahahaha.
[The audience laughs.]
Aoyama: Yes, well… it’s true he’s not good at deductions. (haha) But he has all sorts of other things he’s good at, like Judo… (haha) And like how he’s strong at Judo. And… well, he’s got Conan with him, heh heh. Everything works out. (haha) Yes. (haha) That’s all. (haha)
Moderator: That was a fun question. (haha)
Q. When in September is Nakamori Aoko born?
Aoyama: September, right… (haha) I haven’t decided. (haha) When would you want it to be? (haha)
Questioner: Huh…?
Aoyama: If you give me a date, it might become true.
Moderator: Amazing, it’s your choice.
Questioner: Wait a sec… then… Since Kaito is born on the 21st… maybe the 12th…?
Aoyama: September 12th? Is that good with you?
Questioner: Ah… um… yes…
Moderator: They say that they’ll leave it to you, sensei.
Aoyama: I’ll think about it at least. (haha)
Q. What does Ran-chan usually talk about with her karate club friends?
Aoyama: Huh…? (haha)
Questioner: Do they talk about romance?
Aoyama: I’m sure they do? (haha)
Questioner: I’m happy.
Aoyama: I think everyone is interested to know how things are going with Ran’s love life. (haha)
Questioner: I almost want to join them myself.
Aoyama: Ahahaha.
[The audience laughs.]
Aoyama: Then I’ll think about it including that kind of scene if anything comes to mind. (haha)
Q. Do you ever plan to draw the moment Kazuha-chan fell for Heiji?
Aoyama: Oh…? (haha) Do you want to see it? Then I’ll think about it. (haha) But this… well, I might just actually draw it. (haha)
Q. After the scene where Heiji-kun confesses to Kazuha-chan at Abeno Harukas, they come back down holding hands. Should we interpret this as Heiji-kun taking the initiative to hold hands, and do you plan to ever draw how that happened?
Aoyama: Right… (haha) Well, I think Heiji was the one to try and hold hands. (haha) I don’t know whether I’ll ever draw it, but I’ll think about it. (haha)
Questioner: Please do.
Aoyama: Um… if you go to Conan Tanteisha [the hometown museum], you can see a coloured illustration of something similar. (haha) Please go see it. (haha) I recommend it. (haha)
Aoyama: It’s very fun. (haha)
Q. At Kōhaku Uta Gassen, were there any artists that made you go “Woah, this singer is amazing!” other than aiko and B'z?
Aoyama: Huh…? Oh…? (haha) Hey hey. (haha) No, no… yes, yes… (haha)
[The audience laughs.]
Questioner: Fukuyama-san is also forbidden.
Aoyama: Huh…? (haha) I wonder who I can go with…?? (haha)
Moderator: They’ve zeroed in on all of your answers.
Aoyama: That’s right. (haha) I liked them all? Ahaha. The main thing is that B’z was amazing. The stage was pretty dark to us in the audience, you know. It was pitch black, and I was thinking “I wonder if anyone’s there? I can’t tell…” and then B’z showed up on the screen and I was all like, “Wooooooah!!!” (haha) It was amazing!!! …My choice is B’z. (haha)
[The audience laughs.]
Questioner: Thank you very much.
Q. Are you thinking about a spinoff featuring Hattori Heiji?
Aoyama: A spinoff? Like Zero’s Tea Time?
Questioner: Um… more like Hanzawa-san.
Aoyama: Ah, Hanzawa-san. (haha) H-How are they different? Ahaha.
[The audience laughs.]
Aoyama: We don’t have any plans for that right now. (haha) I apologize. (haha) Did you want one?
Questioner: Yes, a manga where Hattori is the star…
Aoyama: Right… (haha) We don’t have any plans for that right now, so I’ll leave it at that. (haha)
Q. Last year, Heiji-kun and Kazuha-chan were the main ship to have romantic developments. But if you plan to have romantic developments for any other characters moving forward, which ones should we keep our eye on?
Aoyama: That would be Kansuke and…? Something like that? (haha)
Questioner: And…?
Aoyama: Well, um. (haha) A ship I shouldn’t mention just… floated up in my head… (haha) It’d be bad to say. (haha) Well, that’s about it. (haha)
Q. I’d like my question to focus on Gin. I imagine Akai-san and the rest of the FBI are constantly on his tail, so he must travel around to many different places. Does he have safehouses across the nation, or does he stay in hotels like Mary-san and Masumi do? But it might be bad to leave any clues behind, so he wouldn't use the hotel amenities, and would pay for everything himself of course…
Aoyama: Ah… (haha)
Questioner: I really want to know if Gin-san would wear hotel bathrobes, so please tell me if you can.
Aoyama: Ah… (haha) Is that so? (haha) Um…? But I think they’d sleep in their cars or something, right? (haha)
Questioner: They wouldn't look for lodging?
Aoyama: Lodging… right, they probably stay somewhere no one would know about. (haha) Else, maybe Organization-controlled apartment buildings, or getaway houses. I’m sure they have them all over the place. (haha)
Questioner: So he flits from place to place to keep himself from being caught by the FBI…
Aoyama: Right, without being caught. He’s probably not caught. (haha)
Questioner: Does he wear bathrobes?
Aoyama: Gin? (haha)
Questioner: Yes!
Aoyama: Right… (haha) Ah, well, of course he does. (haha)
Questioner: I think it fits him!
Aoyama: I think he probably struggles to wash all that hair too. (haha)
Q. I came from Hokkaido. Last year’s movie was set in Hakodate and if I recall correctly, even had the clock tower show up. I’d be happy if Sapporo tourist attractions showed up next. Are there any plans for that?
Aoyama: Well, it’d need to be a long time from now. (haha) Right? (haha). We might. Where would you recommend?
Questioner: Right, um… maybe Oodori Park?
Aoyama: Ah… (haha) Yes.
Questioner: Um… we have romantic spots too… like the TV Tower, yes.
Aoyama: Yes, then well I’ll think about it. (haha)
Q. I have a question about Azusa-san. I’d like to know how long she’s been working at Poirot.
Aoyama: Azusa? I wonder? (haha) I don’t know. (haha) Well, hm, but maybe since her high school years…?
Questioner: Since she was a high schooler… thank you very much.
Aoyama: Of course. (haha) It was totally off the top of my head though. (haha)
Moderator: It’s interesting to find out what people want to know about.
Q. I’m born and raised in Tottori. Are there any plans for a movie set here?
Aoyama: Huh...? (haha) None right now. (haha)
Questioner: I’d love to see one if ever possible.
Aoyama: I used Tottori dialect in one of my works before, but I was told it was incomprehensible. (haha) Osaka dialect, Hakata dialect, etc. are pretty easy to understand, but Tottori dialect is hard. If we did do a Tottori movie, I’d want to have people speaking Tottori dialect, right… so… (haha) I’d have to find some kind of solution. I’ll think about it. (haha)
Q. [Per a previous question] you said that Momiji will do her best even now that Heiji-kun and Kazuha have gotten together, but will her butler Iori continue to stay by her side? Will he have to leave perhaps because of issues related to his old job?
Aoyama: Ah… no, well, I think he’ll be by her side forever. I think he’ll stay by her side until the day Momiji dies. (haha) I think he’ll keep protecting her.
Questioner: Thank you very much.
Q. I’d like to ask about Conan cafés. I know that you love curry rice, but is there anything else you’d like to eat at a Conan café?
Aoyama: What do they serve at Conan cafés again? (haha)
Questioner: It changes year by year.
Aoyama: I don’t know what the current menu is, but I like dishes like naporitan spaghetti that children like, so. (haha) Also, hamburgers and hamburg steak. (haha) That’s what I like. (haha) Sorry it’s so vague.
Q. Did you meet in advance with aiko-san to plan for the moment where you shot her with a tranquilizer watch? [T/N: Aoyama mock shot aiko-san with a tranquilizer watch at the end of her song on this year’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen.] Or at least, that’s what I wanted to ask, but there might be stuff you need to keep secret…
Aoyama: We had a lot of meetings about that! At first, I uh asked whether I should say “Funya?”, but that was shot down. (haha) [T/N: I don't know enough about aiko to say what "Funya?" might mean. Maybe a catchphrase?]
Questioner: I’m a aiko-san fan so I’ve gone to a fair number of her concerts, so I’ve watched the video of her song on Kōhaku Uta Gassen. Did any murder cases come to mind after seeing aiko-san?
Aoyama: Ah, well, hahaha. No, I can’t say any did. (haha) Do you want to see one? (haha) I’d feel too bad to kill off a singer, but, well, I’ll think about it a plot that would have a singer involved. (haha) aiko-san was very cute.
Q. Since Akai-san was raised in England, were there any sports he was forced to play aside from Jeet Kune Do?
Aoyama: I wonder? But Jeet Kune Do… he probably learnt it from his father, so I think he wouldn’t be interested in any other sport. (haha) But he seems like he’d be good at cricket. (haha)
Questioner: Maybe baseball in America…? Too?
Aoyama: Right, right. (haha) I think he’s good at cricket.
Q. I live in Kurayoshi. The Kurayoshi phone number area code is fairly important in your work, but what kind of role will Kurayoshi play in Conan in the future?
Aoyama: Ah… no, it’s just a coincidence. (haha) Kurayoshi, well… Kurayoshi residents would get mad at me, so. (haha) It would be difficult to use the city. (haha) It’s just a coincidence, I apologize. (haha)
Q. Do you have any New Year’s memories from when you were little?
Aoyama: Memories? Usually my family would ask me to visit a shrine with them, but I’d stay at home since it was too much of a pain. [T/N: In Japan, it’s tradition to visit a shrine on the first day of the new year.] That about sums up my New Year’s memories. (haha) But I always go these days. For my health. (haha) “Um… I’m counting on you this year again.” (haha) That’s what I go to the shrine to pray, basically. (haha)
Q. There was a scene in a chapter the other day where Hiro faces off against a criminal, but did he always have experience with martial arts?
Aoyama: I’m sure they learn uh… self-defence techniques and martial arts at the police academy, so he might not have any experience originally. But Hiro is strong. Though he’s weaker than Kyogoku. (haha)
Q. I’d like to know about Kyoto’s Inspector Ayanokouji’s personal life. Please tell me his hobbies, or what he does in his spare time.
Aoyama: Ah… (haha) Maybe he feeds Maro-chan and such. (haha)
Questioner: Does he have no other hobbies?
Aoyama: Hobbies? (haha) He loves Maro-chan, so that. (haha) Hey, what do you think would be good?
Questioner: Maybe archery…
Aoyama: Archery?! (haha) A bow?! Huh… (haha) Well, I’ll think about it. (haha)
Q. Do you have any plans for a triple date with Shinichi-Ran, Heiji-Kazuha, and Kyougoku-Sonoko?
Aoyama: Not at all. (haha) A triple date, huh? (haha) Ah, well, I see. (haha) I’ll think about it. Ahaha.
Moderator: You aren’t thinking about it at all, aren’t you? (haha)
Aoyama: I apologize. (haha)
Q. I watched your Professional interview. Since you were eating a lot of curry, I went out to eat at Curry Bondy too, and it was good. I’d love to hear about any other meals you enjoy while working, or food you’d highly recommend.
Aoyama: I wonder if I have anything to recommend…? (haha) All I eat is cheap stuff, so. (haha) I’m really into the beef don mini-pack from Yoshinoya- it’s a pretty small portion, so um, it’s good.
Moderator: The portion size is good?
Aoyama: Yes. Oh, any curry from Coco, of course. (haha) I like it.
Moderator: Sensei, you’re very economical.
Aoyama: Well, yes. (haha) It tastes good.
Q. I live in Saitama. Even though it’s so close to Tokyo, no Saitama detectives have made an appearance…
Aoyama: Ahaha. I apologize. (haha)
Questioner: I’d like you to draw a case set in Saitama.
Aoyama: Ah… yes. (haha) One day. (haha) Yokomizo did show up in Saitama at first, but um… he transferred to Shizuoka. (haha) I apologize. (haha) So, I thought to have Yokomizo transfer all over the place, but I was told that almost never happens. (haha) Right… then, I’ll draw Saitama… one day… (haha) I’ll think about it. (haha) I apologize. (haha)
Moderator: Which is it? You’ll think about it, or you’ll draw it?
Aoyama: I’ll think about it. (haha)
Q. Does Kazuha-chan have anything she likes aside from aikido?
Aoyama: Ah… she does like Heiji. (haha) Right, I think she’d like cooking [like others like her would.] Um… also cooking… and uh, I wonder… I hadn’t thought about it at all. (haha) You sure asked a tough question. (haha) What would she like… do you have anything in mind yourself?
Moderator: What she would like? It’s up to your [the questioner’s] imagination…
Questioner: …
Moderator: The questioner says that they wanted to hear it from you.
Aoyama: Right. (haha) But well, I handed them the power to choose, so. (haha)
Moderator: If they think of anything, it might become true, after all.
Aoyama: Does anything come to mind?
Questioner: …
Moderator: Then, please think on it, both of you. (haha)
Aoyama: Well, then, it’s fine. (haha) I’ll think about it. Me. (haha)
Q. I’m Taiwanese, but I currently live in Japan. Aside from the movies, Conan-kun has never been to any country but England. Are there any plans to have him visit other foreign countries? Like Taiwan…
Aoyama: His passport is an issue for him, so… (haha) Um… so he can’t really go overseas, um… because see, he doesn’t have any options aside from being stuffed into luggage by Kaito Kid, so. (haha) Um… going overseas would be difficult. (haha) Well, if he returned to his original body, he could go, but well, in his current situation it would be hard for him to go. (haha) I can’t use the same plot twice, so.
Moderator: It’s more about [the questioner's] feelings of wanting him to go to Taiwan.
Aoyama: Ah, is that so. I’d like to visit Taiwan too. (haha)
Moderator: Huh? You do?
Aoyama: Yes, yes, yes. (haha)
Moderator: Please do. (haha) Make some time. (haha)
Q. Organization codenames are so cool. I love them. I’d love to see new codenamed members appear, but do you have any plans for that?
Aoyama: What kind of alcohol would you like to see appear?
Questioner: To be honest… ●● [the name of an alcohol] or something, perhaps… (haha)
Aoyama: ●●…? Don’t tell me- are you ●●-san?
Questioner: Huh?! You could tell?!
Aoyama: Really?!
Questioner: Yes…! Thank you very much.
Aoyama: Amazing! So you managed to win a Q&A slot in the lottery… you’re the one who loves Koumei…?!
Questioner: Yes…! That’s right!
Aoyama: I’m happy for you. (haha) Koumei will play a big role this year, so. (haha) Please look forward to it. (haha)
Questioner: Thank you very much!
Aoyama: Please do your best. (haha) Ah, wait, I’m the one who needs to do their best. (haha)
Moderator: ?
Aoyama: Amazing… they’re someone I always receive fanmail from.
Moderator: Ah, I see! So that’s why you got so excited?
Aoyama: Yes, yes. (haha)
Moderator: I feel like everyone was out of the loop there. (haha)
Aoyama: Ah…! (haha) I apologize. (haha)
Moderator: I’m sure they’re happy they were noticed by you. (haha) Sensei, onto the next question…
Aoyama: Ah, right. (haha) I was too focused on ●●-san. (haha)
[The audience laughs.]
Q. Do you plan to draw Shinichi and Kid facing off?
Aoyama: Ah… right. I’d like to draw it. (haha)
Questioner: I’ll look forward to it.
Aoyama: Ahaha. Shinichi, huh…
Q. My name is Hattori. I grew to like my name thanks to Detective Conan.
Aoyama: Ahahaha. Wait, wait, wait. (haha) What about Hanzō? [T/N: A famous samurai was named Hattori Hanzō.]
Questioner: Please tell me what last names you like, or would like to have, in your works.
Aoyama: Ah… Kudo. (haha) I do really like the Kudo-chan that Matsuda Yuusaku played in Tantei Monogatari, so if I could I’d love to become a Kudo. (haha)
Q. Heiji and Kazuha deepened their relationship in the most recent chapters at Abeno Harukas. Had you already decided to an extent what would happen even before Abeno Harukas was made? [T/N: The building opened in 2014.]
Aoyama: From before it was made…?
Questioner: From before it was completed… did you already think of… a story where… he confessed, or well conveyed his feelings, somewhere high up…?
Aoyama: Ah… no, I thought it up after its completion. (haha) When was it completed?
Questioner: So essentially it wasn’t a plot you had planned for a long time.
Aoyama: Yes… right, it was after it was completed… But well, I did think that I definitely wanted to include Kazuha’s mother. I thought I’d trick you all. (haha) I wanted to make everyone think, “He’s gonna confess to her mother, right?” then pull the rug under you when he actually confessed. (haha) I had that planned for a long long while. (haha)
Q. Who’s stronger between Kogoro and Ran?
Aoyama: Who’s stronger?! (haha) Right… (haha) I wonder… hm.. A tough question. (haha) But well, Kogoro is strong! But, Ran is catastrophically strong too (haha).
Moderator: Catastrophically, huh? (haha) That’s true.
Aoyama: Well, I think it’s hard to say. (haha) But well… if they did fight, Kogoro would probably hold back since he’s her dad. That would probably be how it ends. (haha)
Q. My hometown is in Kyushu. When I go to Tokyo for work, I can really feel the cultural differences. Could you write a case related to that kind of thing?
Aoyama: Ah… I do want to write a case that incorporates dialects somehow, but it’s tough. I do want to do it one day though.
Questioner: Please do it in Kyushu.
Aoyama: Kyushu, huh? Right, right. (haha) With Hakata dialect?
Questioner: I speak Saga dialect though.
Aoyama: Saga dialect?
Questioner: Saga dialect.
Aoyama: Ah, so there’s a difference?
Questioner: Yes, it’s a little more hickish.
Aoyama: Ahahaha. Right, yes, I understand. (haha)
Q. Tottori has a Mystery Tour. If you have any memorable locations or tourist spots you’d like to include in that tour, please tell us.
Aoyama: Huh…? I wonder? It’s been a long while since I moved to Tokyo. (haha) Odaiba is quite near here, so maybe something that used that… I wonder. Aside from that, hm, Tottori makes you think of crabs, and uh, apple-pears. That kinda thing, I guess. (haha) I have no clue how you’d make use of it though. (haha) All I talked about was good food. (haha)
Q. Who’s the tallest among all your characters?
Aoyama: Tall characters? Right… Gin or Kyogoku.
Questioner: I heard that Date-san is over two metres tall…
Aoyama: Ah…! Date then, maybe?! (haha) Gin and Date might be close in height. Kyougoku might be a little smaller than them. Well, the point is, the three of them are big. Um… it’s definitely not Kazami. (haha) In my heart, Kazami is about the same height as Amuro. (haha) Well, Gin or Kyogoku or Date. (haha) That’s the top three. (haha)
Redacted Questions
These questions weren't mentioned in the official transcript, only by unofficial sources. As with before, I can't guarantee their veracity. Questions with multiple sources are likely more trustworthy.
Q. What can you tell us about this year’s movie at this point? Q. What’s the best part of this year’s movie? [T/N: I'm fairly sure these are referring to the same question.]
Aoyama: When I told Rikiya Koyama [T/N: Mouri’s VA] that Kogoro is the main character this year, he told me he was nervous. Once he was done, Takayama-san [T/N: Conan’s VA] told him he sounded cool. I'll be drawing a key frame for it.

How to Learn to Read an Electrocardiogram (ECG)
Learning to read an electrocardiogram (ECG) is a critical skill for healthcare professionals, particularly those working in cardiology, emergency medicine, or primary care. An ECG provides essential information about the heart’s electrical activity, helping diagnose various cardiac conditions. For medical professionals or students, it’s essential to understand how to interpret these readings effectively. If you’re looking to learn to read an electrocardiogram, this guide will introduce you to the basics and highlight the importance of professional training.
At ECG Academy, we specialize in training medical professionals and students to learn to read an electrocardiogram efficiently and accurately. Our comprehensive courses offer a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application to ensure you master the skills required for ECG interpretation.
1. Why Learning to Read an Electrocardiogram is Important
The heart’s electrical activity is recorded through an electrocardiogram, providing insight into various cardiac abnormalities. The ability to learn to read an electrocardiogram can be a lifesaving skill, as it allows healthcare providers to detect conditions such as arrhythmias, ischemia, or even a heart attack.
Early and accurate interpretation of an ECG can result in faster diagnosis and treatment, which is essential in emergency situations. Additionally, this skill is crucial for ongoing patient monitoring, particularly in people with chronic heart conditions.
2. Understanding the Components of an Electrocardiogram
To effectively learn to read an electrocardiogram, it’s important to understand the basic elements that make up an ECG waveform. These include the P wave, QRS complex, and T wave, each representing different phases of the heart’s electrical cycle.
P wave: Represents atrial depolarization, or the electrical signal that causes the atria to contract.
QRS complex: Indicates ventricular depolarization, which is responsible for the contraction of the ventricles.
T wave: Shows ventricular repolarization, or the resetting of the ventricles before the next contraction.
By knowing these components, you can begin to learn to read an electrocardiogram and identify common patterns in heart function.
3. Common Heart Conditions Detected on an ECG
Once you learn to read an electrocardiogram, you’ll be able to detect a wide range of cardiac conditions. Some common conditions include:
Arrhythmias: Irregular heartbeats can be identified through deviations in the normal waveform patterns.
Ischemia: Insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle can cause changes in the ST segment and T wave.
Myocardial infarction (heart attack): Acute heart attacks often present as significant changes in the ST segment or the appearance of pathological Q waves.
Heart blocks: Delayed or blocked electrical signals can be detected by looking at the intervals between the P wave and QRS complex.
These are just a few of the many conditions that ECGs can detect, making it crucial to learn to read an electrocardiogram accurately for effective patient care.
4. How to Learn to Read an Electrocardiogram
The process of learning how to read an ECG requires both theoretical knowledge and practical application. While the basics can be picked up through textbooks, real proficiency comes from hands-on experience and expert guidance.
At ECG Academy, we offer step-by-step courses that guide you through the fundamentals of ECG interpretation. Our courses provide real-life case studies, which help you practice identifying normal and abnormal ECG readings. You’ll be able to learn to read an electrocardiogram confidently, and apply your knowledge in clinical settings.
5. Tips for Success in Learning ECG Interpretation
Here are some key tips to help you succeed as you learn to read an electrocardiogram:
Start with the basics: Before diving into complex conditions, focus on understanding the normal heart cycle and the key components of the ECG waveform.
Use a systematic approach: When analyzing an ECG, take a consistent approach to reviewing the rate, rhythm, axis, and morphology of the waveforms.
Practice regularly: Consistent practice is essential. Use ECG strips or online simulators to get familiar with various heart conditions.
Get expert guidance: Learning from experts is the best way to master ECG interpretation. At ECG Academy, we offer personalized guidance to ensure that you’re progressing in your learning.
6. Why Choose ECG Academy
At ECG Academy, our training programs are tailored to help you learn to read an electrocardiogram effectively.
