recent events have me thinking back to a couple months ago when I got into it with my parents over immigration and said “if your family was in danger and you had no other option but to cross into another country illegally in search of help, you would.” that’s it. that’s all I said. both my parents were visibly pissed off and they floundered for an excuse before just replying “that’s not the same thing”, and I did clarify that they meant not the same as a mexican citizen coming into america for the same reason. they think it’s different because they’re white and american. I’ve watched both parents commit crimes in moments of necessity for the safety and health of their family members with my own eyes. it’s not different at all.
#g talks#memorizing how to say ICE is coming in Spanish to protect my neighbors#while my parents cheer that workers and families are being dragged out of the country#‘they’re going after criminals!’ they say#‘only criminals!’#yet ICE isn’t recognizing native membership IDs#they detained an innocent US veteran for HOURS#they’ve had other innocent US citizens detained for months#but sure#they’re just going after the criminals#like your friends and your neighbors and the people you’ve been in community with for 4 years#suddenly they’re criminals because they’re brown#and your first response is ‘who am I to question the law?’#we’re commanded to treat the stranger in our land as the native born#so much for walking in the way huh#mine#/mobile#/okay to reblog

was reading up on recent developments on ICE both near and far bc it's. relevant. and got stressed enough that i started looking up macaron recipes. as though that's even remotely in my wheelhouse (and as though i have the necessary ingredients -- or equipment -- for that)
such is the way of things. sometimes when there's a problem you can't immediately tackle... you make new complicated baking problems
#the navajo nation called for a meeting w/ arizona and new mexico's governors#bc apparently. several navajo citizens have been questioned and detained by ICE already#so that's. y'know.#another horrifying thing that's going on.#have already been reminding myself abt the extent of FERPA bc that's something that can be leaned on when dealing w/ ICE re: students#nobody is getting a scrap of information on any student without going thru the proper channels#showing up is not the proper channel. come back with a warrant.#but jesus.

i went on TikTok the other day to check smth and also private my account and wow I forgot how TikTok removed a video of me… talking about experiencing racism for “harassment and bullying” and “hateful behavior”. meanwhile around the same time TikTok found no violation in comments I received calling for the death of my people or saying that my people exist to be servants or countless comments about how im going to hell or should be stoned to death. All that’s fine according to TikTok, but someone sharing a story of a time they experienced racism is where they draw the line.
#i also got reminded that after I posted a video talking about how my white mother made and laughed at jokes about#me being detained and deported by ICE#ppl commented like ‘i think ur the issue. family’s are supposed to be able to joke around’#or that i need to have a sense of humor and laugh along instead ot being upset#about my own mother laughing at the concept of me being violently detained and deported

How are you feeling today?
"I'm fine." The response was automatic, knee-jerk, and he barely looked up from the paperwork strewn across his desk. To be not fine was never an option, so to entertain the idea of otherwise was pointless and unwelcome. People were counting on him -- W.ashington and his friends were counting on him -- and the brunt of such a responsibility could never quite be measured.
Finally, Ben lifted his head and offered what he prayed to be a more genuine smile. "I thank you for the concern, but it's unmerited," he said. "I've just been a bit detained as of late, that's all. It's the inevitable ebb and flow that comes with one's duty."
#Anonymous#// wasn't sure if this was directed at me or ben lol#but i answered IC since i prefer not to get personal on the dash#thanks for sending regardless! <3#love how my auto correct initially changed detained to drained#cuz yeah that's more truthful lol

over the last 24 hours Tom Homan has flip-flopped on what exactly is going to happen this upcoming week in the US, but we know he has threatened a “big raid across the country” and Chicago seems to be the first target with leaked plans for tuesday, January 21st, 2025. if you are here and live in a sanctuary city, brace for ICE raids to begin this week. if you're able, you can request or print your own red cards (available in multiple languages) from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and offer them to people within your community.
if you see ICE, let people know. shout "ICE" and "LA MIGRA." do not open your door for ICE.
You have constitutional rights:
- DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR if an immigration agent is knocking on the door. / NO ABRA LA PUERTA si un agente de inmigración está tocando la puerta. - DO NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS from an immigration agent if they try to talk to you. You have the right to remain silent. / NO CONTESTE NINGUNA PREGUNTA de un agente de inmigración si el trata de hablar con usted. Usted tiene el derecho de mantenerse callado. - DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING without first speaking to a lawyer. You have the right to speak with a lawyer. If you are outside of your home, ask the agent if you are free to leave and if they say yes, leave calmly. / NO FIRME NADA sin antes hablar con un abogado. Usted tiene el derecho de hablar con un abogado. Si usted está afuera de su casa, pregunte al agente si es libre para irse y si dice que sí, váyase con tranquilidad. - GIVE THIS CARD TO THE AGENT. If you are inside of your home, show the card through the window or slide it under the door. / ENTREGUE ESTA TARJETA AL AGENTE. Si usted está dentro de su casa, muestre la tarjeta por la ventana o pásela debajo de la puerta. I do not wish to speak with you, answer your questions, or sign or hand you any documents based on my 5th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. I do not give you permission to enter my home based on my 4th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution unless you have a warrant to enter, signed by a judge or magistrate with my name on it that you slide under the door. I do not give you permission to search any of my belongings based on my 4th Amendment rights. I choose to exercise my constitutional rights.
What to do if you are detained - National Immigration Law Center
there's also the ICE Detainer FAQ and the ICE Raids Toolkit from Immigrant Defense Project. and you can also get information on DACA, various resources for preparedness, and flyers at united we dream:
this one is Chicago specific but another organization that is helping people prepare:

So... I promised myself I was going to cut back on the politics posts, because I need to protect my mental peace. But this one...
ICE has reportedly been picking up members of the Navajo Nation, as well as members of other Native nations, in urban areas of Arizona and telling them that they do not accept either state IDs or Certificates of Indian Blood (CIBs) as proof of U.S. citizenship. ICE is detaining them as having no identifiable U.S. citizenship.
So, you know.... the actual, true native citizens of the soil we call the United States. Yeah.

Navajo Nation leaders address reports of ICE detaining tribal citizens
Navajo Nation officials have contacted the governors of Arizona and New Mexico to address concerns about Navajo citizens being detained by ICE.
In response to President Donald Trump's executive order targeting the deportation of immigrants in the country illegally, Acting Navajo Nation Deputy Attorney General Kris Beecher recommended that tribal members carry their Certificate of Indian Blood along with other forms of identification.

I’m ill and miserable so I’m tinkering with my Pennyworth universe fics and giving myself emotions about Patricia Wayne, of all people.
Non-Pennyworth fans can scroll on if you want, but do we think, just for a moment, that Bruce might adopt his party boy persona a little bit from his Aunt Pat?
I do. I think he looked at his bottle blonde auntie with her giant sunglasses, ditzy demeanor, cigarette always in hand, rumored to have a coke spoon up her sleeve, and a different lover ever week and saw someone sad and hurting but also someone smart enough to put up the exact kind of facade that lets her maneuver through their world, this high society minefield of gossip, judgement and scrutiny, and force people to look the other way out of sheer mortified scandal.
“Did you hear what Patricia Wayne got up to last week?”
“No, tell me.”
She’s all anyone can talk about. This ditzy socialite heiress with her too blonde hair and her too short dresses. Too loud, too bold, too much.
But none of them really know her.
The real her—the auntie with the sad eyes and the biggest smile who used to show up out of nowhere and take him for ice cream in the middle of the school day much to Martha’s annoyance.
The auntie who used to stand behind his father and mimic his serious facial expressions just to make Bruce laugh.
The auntie who showed up to the school run one time looking like a Christmas tree, hair still in foils from the salon because Alfred got detained and when Tommy called to ask she left before the hairdresser had a chance to take them out.
His Auntie Pat who lets him ask questions about the sister he never met and who everyone else is too sad to talk about.
Patricia Wayne who appears at Wayne Manor the moment she heard about Tommy and Martha’s deaths, looking pale and gaunt, aged about a hundred years in the time it took to drive from New York to Gotham because while flying might have been quicker, driving let her scream and howl her grief out because Bruce is a quiet child who needs quiet words and Patricia has never been very good at that but for him she’ll do it. She’ll rip her vocal cords out to give him the quiet solace he needs if that’s what it takes.
Patricia Wayne who signs over full custody to Alfred Pennyworth the moment she can because she loves Bruce but knows herself well enough to know that she’d be a terrible co-parent but also because it makes her want to jump into Gotham harbor with stones in her pockets seeing Tommy looking up at her from behind his eyes.
Auntie Pat who dips in and out of his adolescence like a lightning strike, teaches him how to act and move and glide through the world his parents tolerated and Alfred only knows how to interact with from the sidelines.
Teaches him how to flirt and charm and smile, how to be a darling of the press while never giving anything away.
Auntie Pat who catches him hiding in his parents old bedroom at a party, looking at himself in Martha’s old mirror and listens to the heartbreak in his voice when he admits he can see Martha’s features fading in his face as his jaw squares out. Pat pierces his ear for him, holding a needle over a flame, so he can wear one of Martha’s earrings, Thomas’s cufflinks on his wrists.
Patricia Wayne who watches him start to bulk out. Sees the bruises and cuts that definitely don’t come from polo practice or whatever the fuck Bruce claims they’re from.
Patricia Wayne who looks Alfred dead in the eye when a caped crusader begins stalking the streets of Gotham and remarks loudly at a party that she has no idea where Bruce has got to, but if she had to guess, he’s been detained by a pretty face. You know how Tommy was at his age, the apple never falls far from the tree…
She’ll never ask, and Alfred will never tell, but she’s always got an alibi ready.
Bruce was with her the whole time, officers. Batman? Don’t be absurd. He’s a Wayne. What kind of family do you think they are? Why, you might as well accuse her dearly departed brother of being a secret agent for the government. His wife too while you’re at it. Honestly, the nerve…
Patricia Wayne who coos sweetly at eight year old Dick but tells him quite seriously if he ever calls her “Great Aunt Patricia” ever again she’s taking the toaster for a bath.
She hasn’t had this much work and Botox done for nothing, thank you very much.
I dunno man. I just want him to have someone in his life that when the Brucie Wayne persona jumps out the whole of upper Gotham goes, “oh, he got those Wayne genes. Oh okay. Carry on.”

If ICE Shows Up at Your Door, Know Your Rights!
Do NOT open the door. ICE does not have the right to enter your home without a valid warrant signed by a judge.
Remain calm. Don’t run and most importantly do not lie about your name, age, immigration status, etc. Anything you say or do can be used against you.
Do not sign anything. Ask to have documents translated. If you do not speak English ask for an interpreter. Have an attorney look over any documents that ICE gives you.
Make a family plan. If you have children, identify a caretaker.
Record. If you witness someone being detained by ICE, you have the right to record as long as you do not interfere with the arrest. Pictures, videos, and any information you can gather, can help verify an immigration raid and also help someone’s immigration case.

ALERT: We’ve received several reports of the FBI visiting activists in response to their social media posts criticizing Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. We want you to #KnowYourRights if approached by federal law enforcement (🧵 thread)
The FBI’s discriminatory targeting of people who speak up for Palestinian rights on social media is an attempt to silence popular criticism of Israel. You have a right to speak up against genocide. You have a right to refuse to speak to FBI agents without an attorney present
Our partners at the @ADC have also documented a disturbing uptick FBI targeting and intimidation of Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims since October: We have received multiple calls today regarding Palestinian nationals detained by ICE, and/or visited by the FBI. The FBI has also visited multiple mosques today, in different states, as well as Arab inmates. This is a troubling trend.
#KnowYourDamnRights: Know your rights if you’re ever approached by law enforcement! Read this booklet by our partners at
@theCCR “If An Agent Knocks”
And our partners at the @NLGnews 's Know Your Rights booklet for dealing with law enforcement: https://t.co/5scK7eb8Ba
You can read more about the increased reports of FBI harassment of Palestinian, Arab and Muslim community members in this article by

Ok a few things because trust me I am aware about how awful everything feels
One.
If you know someone who is not legally here no you don’t. Do not mention them online even if it’s expressing concern. Again.
DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ONLINE ABT FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO MAY NOT BE HERE LEGALLY.
Two.
Know your rights if ICE comes to talk you. You have every right to not talk to them.
This is for my state so your rights may be different state to state so please do your research. If you know someone here non legally make sure to pass this information to them.
Three.
If you are an employer or employee here are your rights if ice comes to your school or workplace.
This man is a lawyer
Four.
Do not talk about someone or yourself getting an abortion if you are in states currently in danger of reproductive rights. Both irl and online.
Five.
Trust only close friends and family WHO HAVE EXPLICITLY GIVEN THEIR VIEWS with your reproductive health if you are in states currently under threat of reproductive rights being taken.
Six.
If you are in states with no protections for transgender people or youth. Do not mention being trans or knowing trans people.
Seven.
If you are going to a protest here are few things to note and bring.
Cover your face, tattoos, scars, and hair if it’s dyed abnormal colors.
Do not engage with police. They are not there to protect you they are they for arrests.
If someone is trying to rile up the crowd into looting or burning ignore them.
Bring a first aid kit.
Bring bottles of milk to help with pepper spray. (Correction do NOT USE MILK! Use water or saline solution and take out contacts!!!)
If you are white or cis advocate for your poc and visibly queer people. They will be targeted first during arrests.
Lastly say nothing if you are arrested. Request a lawyer immediately.
Always film if someone is being arrested you have a right to film. This goes for if someone is also being detained by ice.
Anyway please stay safe. We will make it.
