Młoda ogrywa ochroniarza w karty. (na kasę) (typ zapomniał jak sie gra po reboocie) (jest bezlitosna) | twt | ko-fi
fanfic inspired by this by my talented moot!!! 🥺
we dont have any examples of braytech security outfit ive made quick design for cayde. Completely dark one seemed bit too gloomy and hostile so i added some red and white from symbols concept art. Braytech symbols make it clear he is affiliated with corp and ishtar band signifies his job at protecting sundaresh in particular. And in his pocket is bray id card.
For micah i made hoodie based on penguin outer shell. Those toys are like matryoshka with plushie actually being inside the plastic so if micah took mishaylova with her for comfort it would make sense penguin would be "peeled". Way more huggable than a plastic statue.
The cards they play have backs with what i wanted to slightly resemble ace of spades (gun) decorative lines.
Also i wanted to make it clear its Eventide in some way so i took some screens of Exoscience. I like Operator symbol and it's halo makes it look divine so i put it on micah's side as she is a Dreamer. And jupiter for cayde cuz i fckin love jupiter in the bg raaaahh!!!! its so awesome. Couch is stolen from neomuna tho, lol. We dont have any access to civilian areas on europa but since its golden age there shouldnt be much difference. Couch is a couch!!

Personal Log: Means for Hope
"Lyn-5, Personal Log: Eventide Colony, Europa
"Dr. Abrams doesn't recognize me. He barely knows anything outside of why he's here. He doesn't recognize his husband or know anything about his son, Mica. I'm starting to have memory lapses too. I'll find myself in the middle of my work without any memory of how I got there, lapsing in the middle of conversations...
"I've noticed it happens more often around Mr. Bray, me doing things I don't remember agreeing to but finding my signature on all of it.
"I think he's doing something to us. No, I know he's doing something to us. Resetting us for his own purposes, to make us more pliable, more agreeable to his plans. And I know what this does to us, how it destroys our memories, our minds. I know where this ends and I can't let him do this to us... I have to find a way to help everyone. But... that also means I have to help him, play his game. If I don't, there won't be any hope for any of us.
"... I'll do it. I'll play his game... and hope I don't lose my soul while doing it."

Do you think Hawthorne has some sort of connection to Morrigans's wundrous song? I'm not going off on a lot except that the song talks about a son of the morning and that Hawthorne feels like the definition of sunshine. And the fact that Morrigan is an eventide kid and she has something with darkness. (??)
Idk what the song could mean, but maybe it's like a foreshadowing to their dynamic, maybe they'll become enemies or opposites or like kids with a destiny because so far it feels like they're far too buddy buddy. Hawthorne is Morrigan's first friend. And he's her best friend. Like. Help.
Also the song talks about the son of the morning being liked, or well someone who has something good ahead of him, and that reminds me of Hawthorne's promising career in dragon riding. He has a lot ahead of him, and in that snippet of Holliday Wu with Hawthorne she said 'the kids are gonna love him', and I feel like Hawthorne is gonna be super popular and well-liked. (Like maybe that's what the song means with 'up with the sun where the winds are warming', he climbs the social ladder.) Meanwhile Morrigan seems to become more and more unpopular because she's a wundersmith. Like it doesn't matter who Morrigan is, it just matters that she's a wundersmith. And soon she'll go down to where the pale things bite or something. As in she'll be an outcast. Or worse.
But if that's the case, then what could it mean??? What will it lead to?
Can we then connect the two wundrous songs of Morrigan's and Squall's? If Morrigans's song is foreshadowing then what if Squall's song is a warning? Or another foreshadowing? A foreshadowing to what then? Is it a prophecy? Are both prophecies??
Help.
🫠
Oooh this is a great question. I don't think that Morrigan and Hawthorne will find themselves not being friends at any point, because I feel like they've already gone through a lot together and have had each other's backs, so I can't see that ending at any point.
I do love any opportunity to discuss the Nocturne songs though!!
I'm hiding my ramblings on this below the cut, because as a true "spaghetti theorist", I am truly just throwing everything and anything at the wall:
One thing I wonder is if the Morningtide nursery rhyme is derived from Little Crowling, or if both songs are derived from a third same source, or if perhaps they are two songs that existed at the same time. Why does Squall seem to recognize Morrigan's song, and Mog recognize Squall's song?! It haunts me. I wish Wundersmith was adapted so maybe we could hear both songs (because hopefully Little Crowling will be in the movie...?). Maybe as Mog trains with Squall we might learn more!
On Discord awhile ago, I said
they’re not like 1:1 but like “o daughter of night” and “with button black eyes” have the same # of syllables (and are possibly depicting the same thing/idea), and “swoops down into the meadow where the rabbits all hide” and “deep down below where the pale things bite” are similar ideas and maybe even an inversion a bit
and I really think there's something there. Maybe it's playing with who/what is "good" vs "evil"? IDK.
In one of the Garrett interviews (which are my favorite Nevermoor/Jessica Townsend interviews everrrr), there's this bit:
ASTRID: Jessica, back to Ezra Squall. When a Wundersmith calls Wunder they sing something. They sing a tune that means something to them, and we know that Ezra Squall's tune involves the words ‘little crowling, little crowling’. Look, Morrigan Crow. Crow Manor. My question here is obvious. What can you tell me? JESSICA: Actually, I can't tell you anything… but that should give you your answer. ASTRID: Look, I had to try. JESSICA: I can tell you that's a really good intelligent question and it's a good observation. Don't worry, there will be satisfaction there. All I can tell you is that there will be satisfaction.
I hope we learn more about Nocturne songs at some point, because I wonder if Little Crowling has been Squall’s song the whole time, or if it’s a new thing? He calls Mog “little crowling” a few times, so yes there’s definitely a connection there.
You sent this question at a great time because I had asked a question about Nocturne songs during the Q&A and she answered it after you sent this. I asked if there was any reason the Nocturne songs sound similar, or if I was reaching, and (in short) she said:
This is a really good question. I think they probably sound similar because they're both intended to be nursery rhymes. I wrote them as to be nursery rhymes in this world, in Nevermoor. I think you should think about the fact that they both chose nursery rhymes as their songs to call Wunder.
I have many thoughts, but at the same time, it’s so hard to theorize when there’s no info to go off of. I hope we learn more of the verses of Little Crowling at some point— I don’t care if the last verse is too grim to end up in a book!
Some ideas:
— Do Wundersmiths write their own songs? Is this perhaps how Nocturne is mastered?
— Maybe choosing nursery rhymes to summon Wunder could indicate something about their personal relationships with gathering and using Wunder?
—— Are they above Wunder, or below it? Not sure if that's the right wording, but just trying to think about what the dynamic between Wunder and Wundersmith for both Squall and Mog could be.
——— While writing this point I misremembered for a moment and wrote "Summoner and Smith", for which the full phrase is, "Summoned Wunder shows itself to summoner and smith." Are "summoner and smith" both the same person or entity (such as a Wundersmith), as "once it's summoned, any old Wundersmith can see it," or are there people out there that can be a summoner but not a smith, etc.? IDK.
— Maybe Little Crowling is a song encouraging Mog to be evil? We don’t know how long Squall has been keeping tabs on Mog.
— Lots of discussion lately about that one dream and if it could relate to Mog’s mom:
—— Maybe she was singing a song and then Squall sung Little Crowling afterwards
—— Maybe Mog’s mom was singing a happier version of Little Crowling, or it’s a song that Squall twisted.
——— Unrelated: everyone thinks that Mog’s mom must have been nice and caring… imagine if she wasn’t really that kind, LOL
—— I think it would be interesting if Mog’s mom was singing Little Crowling (or a variation of it) because of a reference to a rabbit… perhaps inspired by a certain toy rabbit passed down from mother to daughter? And again the obvious “crowling” and a baby (Morrigan) Crow… 🤔🧐🤨
— Perhaps Little Crowling is an older (anti-?) Wundersmith song. Squall was part of the last generation of Wundersmiths so maybe when he was young people were getting tired of them and the system they are a part of.
—— The “button black eyes” just makes me 🤔 because so far the only two Wundersmiths we know notably have black eyes…
— Also back to rabbits having to stay with their mother to be safe from the crowling… y’know who doesn’t have a mother?? Both Mog and Squall!!
Anyways. I really just took a sliver of your ask and ran with it, lol. We don’t know much about Nocturne songs, especially these particular ones, and I hope we learn more soon. Perhaps by training with Squall, Mog might be able to learn more? More verses and more history and information? I certainly hope so!!
I also have to take a moment to shoutout u/AlexWigg on Reddit, who made these renditions of Morningtide's Child and Little Crowling that I really enjoy.
#[muscle man voice] y’know who else doesn’t have a mother?#thank you for this ask I genuinely didn't know you could send asks this long#on my hands and knees I need a garrett interview for silverborn SO. BADLYYYY.#nevermoor#nevermoor theory#asks#whenever I go looking for my sources to cite I get distracted and then forget what I was going to write#so I hope I remembered all my thoughts from earlier lol#it’s been like a month since I started this post and finally picked it back up oops#I feel like there's one or two things I was going to mention that I forgot but whateverrr#giving a new crazy theory that’s out there and that is maud being the sister of mog’s mom

Ball-dancing with Morax
dragon emperor morax, a ball, and you.
The royal ball is a time when nobility and commoners come together at the palace in honour of the kind emperor’s birth month. Emperor Morax is a just and fair ruler, beloved by all. Well, all except you.
You are a prophesied Hero sent by a holy oracle to kill Morax for his genocide of the people of Khaenri’ah some centuries ago. The incident had been erased from the memories of all other land-dwellers, giving him the appearance of having a clean slate. It’s your destiny to bring about justice for his actions.
Your plan is to dance with Morax, who often enjoys dancing with his subjects, slip a magical poison into his drink, and let it destroy him. The poison takes three days to act and blends seamlessly into the bloodstream once it has done its duty, so nobody will ever be able to trace it back to this day.
The day of the ball, you are dressed in your finest gown, your face and hair done to perfection as well. There is no need for a concealed weapon in case things go awry, as Morax operates under a strict moral code of never harming the people under his reign. Oh, how that will come back to bite him soon enough.
He looks ravishing tonight, his golden horns decorated with small rivulets of silk and glass beads. His tail is out on full display, the fine gold fur shining with every movement. His toned body is draped in a rich brown silk long pao, his own dragon emblem adorning the fine cloth. His deep amber eyes, accentuated by the red on his lower eyelids, are mellowed into a beaming smile as the festivities begin.
He is the kind of man you would fall in love with; he is the kind of man you would plunge a dagger into.
Emperor Morax dances with some of the men and women brave enough to share the spotlight with him, until finally his intense gaze settles on you invitingly. You step up to the offer with ease, taking his hands - calloused and big - and following his lead.
It’s magical, the way he guides you along the ballroom with all the grace of a Qilin. It feels like gliding, and for a second you wonder what it would be like to soar through the skies with Morax in his pure dragon form.
His touches are gentle, his words equally soft as he regales you with amusing anecdotes from days of yore, soft laughter ringing like temple bells every time you nearly fumble a step.
Soon enough, he suggests going to the balcony from some fresh night air and a drink, and you readily oblige. His hand rests on the small of your back, like that of a lover, and you cannot help but melt ever so slightly at the gesture. Your heart refreezes itself once more as you remind yourself what this dragon had done once upon a forgotten time.
Still, as he pulls you to himself while he tells you how beautiful you look tonight, you decide to indulge.
His kisses are just as tender and gentle as his hands, and they linger on your skin like eventide dewdrops. When your lips connect, it feels like the earth itself has given way and you are free-falling, with Morax being the one to break the fall. Minutes pass before he deems it fit to pull away.
The way he slides his hands along the curve of your waist and settles there; it is almost as though you are someone completely familiar to him. His smile is like stars bursting forth through shadow. You cannot get enough, it’s intoxicating.
His beautiful brown and gold tail flexes and coils around you tenderly, the scales shimmering like quartz. So enamored by his tail are you, that you hardly register the sinister golden gleam that flashes across his irises for a split second.
He leans in close to your ear and whispers, “My dear, you are the seventh incarnation of the Hero I have had to deal with.”
(just a concept, might turn this into a full-fledged fic if people are interested.)

Flavor Text Highlights
So, one thing that I did two years ago (and have kept updated since) on twitter was my flavor text thread, where I went through each set in Magic history and picked the top 4 (or, for some exceptional cases, 8) best pieces of flavor text in my opinion.
Since then, I have regreted some choices and very much dislike the fact I can't edit the original tweets to reflect changes on the rules I followed for card selection... So I might as well use Tumblr as the place to correct all that.
Every day from now on, I will re-post a set from the list until I catch up to it, then eventually update it as new magic sets come out. The rules for selection can be seen after the linebreak below (as well as a full list of sets I've already gone through, with links). The first one can be found here.
1- Categorization
I will always try to select a diverse list of cards so as to fill the following 4 categories of flavor text types:
Cool - Boasts and descriptions that serve to make the subject matter of the card seem powerful and/or interesting.
Funny - Dialogue, descriptions or epigrams meant to get a laugh out of you
Worldbuilding - Flavor text whose biggest strength comes not from what it says on its own, but how it helps build upon either the world the set takes place in or the story of the set in question
Emotional - This one could conceivably be separated in two whole categories, but it encompasses cards that would fill the same niche as the "Cool" category but with a specific focus on either sadness or horror.
However, there will be situations where there might be a number of good flavor texts within a certain category while another is found lacking of any truly great options. In such scenarios, I will simply remove one (and in rare cases more) of the categories and repeat one of the remaining options. For an extreme example, the first Un-sets barely had any non-Funny options, so when picking cards from those sets most/all of the picks will be from the Funny category.
2- Card Selection
Cards will be reviewed only if they have new flavor text (using scryfall's "new:flavor" filter) and only if it's original flavor text (aka no real world references or quotes from literature) while sets will either be reviewed alone or grouped up depending on the amount of eligible cards in the set. Although I don't have a hard cut-off point for how many new flavor texts a set needs to be reviewed alone, the general range is around 150.
For sets that don't reach that number, they will either be bundled with an associated set (i.e. reviewing Commander precons with their associated Standard set) or bundled with a lot of other smaller products until a suitable number is reached (i.e. bundling all early Masters sets and Duel Decks together, since the amount of new flavor texts in those products is very low).
2.1 - Cycles
For some sets, a collection of cards (usually a cycle) will have flavor texts that work together, expand on each other or combine into a single theme. If said interaction is particularly good or if there isn't already a good flavor text that can stand up on its own, a cycle might be picked for a specific entry. Below, I will try to set up a list of every post for this, in order:

Hi. I wasn't sure if you saw the reblog with the stuff I learned, so I'mma just send it as an ask.
This is something that I just learned that I think could be very interesting. The difference in how Gerudo & Fōrea'ole'āina perceive power based on how their distinctive cultures define it.
Now, before I start, I wanted to get some stuff out. Fōrea'ole is just the term that natives of Faron refer to the region by with Fōrea'ole'āina being another word for Faron natives. And, if we were to put this into real world terms, which would approximate Faronites with Hawaiians. However, much like Hawaii, even though the residents of Faron (especially the islands off the coast of Faron) are considered to be residents of Hyrule, they are natively part of another culture; Holōreans which are a wayfaring society originating from the Holōrean Ocean. The Holōrean Ocean encompasses all the water between the Hyrulean eastern seaboard (the Akkala, Lanayru, Necluda, & Faron Seas being smaller sections of the Holōrean Ocean that surround Hyrule) & New Hyrule's seaboard similarly to the Atlantic ocean. And the Holōrean Ocean is where you'll find not only the Oshus Archipelago & Holodrum, but many others. Eventide is the smallest island in the Koholina Archipelago, which is part of the Fōrea'ole island family (but forget that part for now, this is already getting long). However, only Eventide & Lurelin are actually part of Hyrule proper. With all that in mind, think of Holōrea as being equivalent to Polynesia, with the islands in the Faron Sea being the Hawaiian islands, & Lurelin basically being like if there was a tiny fishing village in Florida settled by Hawaiians.
Now, onto the part in question: The Gerudo tend to see power through the lens of the words Xïdad (physical) or Qútàdrā (in-general). Well, those are the words that I made up for them, but ya know.
Anyway, this is how those words are defined in my hc:
*Xïdad = Strength or strong. Might. Power. Chiefly physical.
Qúdrāta or Qútàra or Qútàdrā = Literally, means “power,” but is also edged with “strength,” “might,” “vigor,” “intensity,” or “force.” However, it also has strong, implied connections to the concepts of destiny, control, ability (as in capability, capacity, fitness, or qualification), potency, domination (either dominance or dominion), predominance, command, rulership, reign, prevalence, mastery, ascendancy, & empires. It is a word heavily associated with the concept of rulers & royalty, which are, likewise, heavily colored by the concept of divine right with Gerudàn culture, as well as dictatorship & tyrants. A much more general term than xïdad, as it refers to not only physical power, but also authority & can even be applied to magic & its practitioners. The term that Ganondorf typically perceives when he thinks or hears about “power.” Due to its use of Drā, it also tends to bring to mind the imagery of great or noble dragons. - A mix of the Arabic words qua, qudra, & saytara.
However, in Holōrean culture, power is translated to mana, which has a very different implicit meaning:
Mana = Though it translates to power, it is considered one of the most meaningful Faronic words. However, something important to note is that “mana” isn't in any way defined by power that is exerted over others in order to get something you want. In contrast, it is thought of as a spiritual construct: specifically, the energy, life force, & healing power that is believed to permeate the very universe itself. In this way, it can also be interpreted to mean “good or positive energy.”
As such, this could create an interesting conflict or misunderstanding between Ganondorf &, not only Leilani & her family, but the Fōrea'olen people as a whole. It’d also create an interesting misunderstanding with Demise as well due to how similar his interpretation of power likely is to that of the Gerudo, if still a bit different as his seems to be more associated with displays of overwhelming power that results in destruction & ruin.
It would just cause this befuddlement & confusion between them, as their perceptions of what “power” means would be near opposites.
But, yeah. Sorry.
Don't apologize! I didn't see this information before. I usually keep up to date on all the reblogs and the like, but I am very airheaded. I may have missed this.
************************************************************************
This cultural divide between how Ganondorf (across various versions) and Demise perceive power versus the Fōrea'ole'āina could lead to some profound moments of realization or tension between the characters.
Here’s how each version of Ganondorf and Demise might react:
1. Wind Waker Ganondorf
Wind Waker Ganondorf has a contemplative side, shaped by years of longing and regret. He’d likely be bewildered by the Fōrea'olen concept of mana. His experience with power is shaped by dominance and survival—his pursuit of the Triforce is driven by his need to gain control over Hyrule’s fate. He might initially view the Fōrea'ole'āina concept of power as naive or sentimental. However, after more exposure to them, he could start reflecting on his own history, especially since his desires in Wind Waker are tinged with sorrow. Their perspective might make him question his own pursuit of power—perhaps considering, in rare quiet moments, whether there’s more to life than the dominance he’s always sought.
Reaction: “Power as life force? That sounds like a dream. But dreams do not conquer kingdoms, nor do they protect your people from the storms of life. However... their tranquility... it is... admirable.”
2. Ocarina of Time Ganondorf
This Ganondorf is in his prime, and he fully embodies the Gerudo definition of power—Qútàdrā as dominance, rulership, and divine right. He’s arrogant and driven by his destiny to conquer Hyrule. The Fōrea'olen concept of mana as spiritual power would baffle and even irritate him. He would see their interpretation of power as weak, impractical, and detached from reality. His own ambitions revolve around strength, fear, and controlling fate through sheer force.
Reaction: “Mana? Spiritual force? That is no power at all. Real power shapes empires, bends wills. You cannot heal the world with energy alone. You must control it.”
3. Twilight Princess Ganondorf
Twilight Princess Ganondorf is cold, calculating, and vengeful. He sees himself as the embodiment of an inevitable fate, driven by the Triforce of Power. For him, power is about manifesting destiny, and the Fōrea'olen concept of mana might strike him as quaint, perhaps even foolish. He wouldn't respect it because it doesn't offer him the same tangible control over the world that he craves. That said, he might see their belief in mana as a weakness to exploit.
Reaction: “Their so-called power is nothing but an illusion. True strength comes from bending the world to your will, not living passively within it.”
4. Hyrule Warriors Ganondorf
This Ganondorf is perhaps the most aggressive and warlike, reveling in combat and destruction. His entire being is centered around overwhelming power—conquest through brute force and dark magic. The idea of mana as a positive spiritual force would not resonate with him. He would see it as an entirely foreign concept and would dismiss it outright. He thrives on conflict and destruction, making the Faronic ideals feel incompatible with his worldview.
Reaction: “Power is dominance over all, crushing those who oppose you. There is no room for softness in war. The weak may speak of harmony, but they will fall before true might.”
5. Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf
Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf is twisted by the Zonai stone and his desire to reclaim his perceived rightful place as ruler of Hyrule. His connection to power is deeply rooted in dark magic and the consumption of life force itself. Mana as a form of peaceful energy and life force would utterly confuse him, especially since his power is drawn from destruction. He might mock the concept at first, but he could develop a grudging respect if he sees how strongly it empowers the Fōrea'ole'āina community.
Reaction: “Mana? Your people believe in such fantasies? Power that does not break, burn, and bend is no power at all. But... perhaps there is a strength in such foolish hope...”
6. Demise
Demise is the ultimate manifestation of destructive power and chaos. His interpretation of power is all about domination and fear, and he would have no patience for any concept of power that doesn't involve crushing one’s enemies. He would view the Faronites’ idea of power as completely incompatible with his own worldview. Mana, as a life force, would mean nothing to him—power is only worth something if it allows him to destroy and conquer. He wouldn't just reject the idea; he'd likely see it as an insult to his existence.
Reaction: “Power that heals? Power that creates? What use is that? True power destroys, annihilates, conquers. Anything else is weakness.”
Each Ganondorf and Demise brings a different flavor to the conversation, but they all share a fundamental attachment to power as control, dominance, and destruction. The Faronic idea of mana as life force would present a challenge to their worldview, but it could also provoke some reflection, especially in versions of Ganondorf that have experienced loss or regret.

Day 2: Beloved / Ritual for @tes-summer-fest
Each night on the twentieth of First Seed, the keepers of Azura’s shrine were on their feet even earlier than usual. High up on Mount Anthor the cool springtide wind danced and sang with nary a cloud passing by to obscure the Lady’s crown. Though many hardships had tried and tested them throughout the years, the Mad Star would not claim this night, nor the next.
Most folk from the city celebrated the dawn of the twenty-first in their homes or temple, but chosen priesthood and a few lay people would make the ascent, where in the darkness their distant forms bearing lanterns and magelights dotted the slope like torchbugs. The altar at the foot of the statue greeted them long since prepared and gleaming to impress the Queen of the Night Sky.
Flowers newly bloomed spun into wreaths, the dust of wayward spirits, iridescent shells and pearls, the phases of the moons carved into silver all caught the eye, but in that splendor what held most worth was aught offered from a worshipper’s own heart. In each hand a silvered mirror was held, so as not to gaze at their Prince’s fulsome brilliance directly.
Afore the first sign of dawn, the wind ceased for a moment as a breath held in anticipation. Where the golden spark first arose from the sea, a ring of light followed, encircling all they could and couldn’t see. They began the incantation. More so than usual, the acolytes were skittish, following their seniors to the point of inflection foreign to Winterhold-born youth.
With seafoam and petals and scent of roses did Azura come to them, senses captured, the presence overflowing from every facet of their surroundings. The words she spoke to each soul gathered here were obscured from others, her love a sanctum where all they wished to know of their destiny lay hidden.
How would one convey such joy for those not privy to it? Her most devoted were guarded and prone to jealousy. A mirror shattered, and an acolyte’s tears poured hot into the snow. And then it was over, and the harmony of voices turned to scattered birdsong.
The holiday that had grown around Azura’s summoning day was also one for loved ones to celebrate, feast and toast to all the gateways already crossed and those that awaited them. As soon as it was acceptable, the gathering scattered like leaves on the wind, and cleaning up in preparation for the eventide was left in the capable hands of Diviner Ienith, who had no family.
Her lot in life was not as sorrowful as one may think, since she was beloved by the Lady of Twilight, and each night that she would stroll the mountain restless with naught but a pallid light in hand, she would hear the same voice that had time ago brought the false gods to heel, but gentle as a breeze. She spoke in the word of Azura, and all willing to listen would receive it too.
Of the scant people still gathered, one caught her eye whom she’d known as Lay Priest Varen afore he left to pass his storied knowledge of Mysticism to students of magic. At times when her faith had been tested she’d considered that path as well, but learned to cherish her simple life. As one of few older than her, he was oddly spry enough to climb the mountain, though the many amulets hung about his person shimmering with enchantment must have helped.
“Aranea! Such a delight to see you,” he spoke with inordinate familiarity, and heeded not the ways that she gave off disinterest. “Even more so to tell you that an associate of mine has located Azura’s Star. For certain this time!”
That’s what you’ve said a few too many times before, was the thought on her mind, but she pushed it aside and tilted her head in feigned interest. “For certain? And where was it located?”
“Ah, that is yet uncertain. But in the case that I set out to find it, I extend the invitation to you. Azura must want you to recover her artifact, and with your vision-”
“Lady Azura wants for me to stay at this very shrine, and that is most certain.” She reached for the first thing she could grasp, and spun around to descend without looking back once, down and around until she reached the cairn from where the Prince was only partially seen.
Head spinning, she slumped down to the frozen stairs and dangled the crushed wreath in her hand like a pendulum. For all it was worth, it was true. Azura had shown her destiny, and the premonitions, cryptic as they could be, had never deceived her. Those who had no such guidance in their lives could never truly understand the responsibility she bore with pride, and only sought to use it.
She craned her neck towards the wall far more ancient than their statue but hewn from the same stone by those who had come before, and froze to a halt. A mighty, winged shadow descended upon it, but was gone in a moment. No, beyond her mind’s eye someone was there, heavy robes and likewise steps making no sound. She blinked a few times and stood up very carefully.
They seemed to be a Dunmer as well, perhaps someone from town who had wandered and was now lost, or simply interested in ancient Nordic structures. She knew she was out of practice in addressing ordinary folk, that was part of what Azura demanded from her.
Before she knew it, she threw her wreath and turned back the way she came from, at some point breaking into a sprint that left her out of breath by the time she returned to the now fully deserted shrine.
It was midday at the very least, and her preparations for dusk should have been underway much sooner. She scolded herself in her mind, but wasted no time. All would be ready for the crimson gate by the time it would even slip the minds of her juniors that they were needed for the ceremony too. But she could never fault them for enjoying their Hogithum dinner, for she would do no different in their place. Fortunately, she was bestowed with her own purpose.
The sky would take on each color of bruise soon enough, and having had her meal of scrib jerky she could only sit in silence with the offerings, wringing her hands with faint scratches left on them until it was time to conduct the ritual, perhaps on her own. There was no sorrow in that, for it made her holy bond even more special.
“Kena Aranea!”
She turned to the sound of her name and the voice that could only belong to one, well, two people running towards her up the slope at a speed most unwise, just waiting to trip on the stairs yet balancing quite well with some sort of cake in hand. Both of them, at that.
“You have returned in time! Azura commends you, and so do I.”
The acolytes giggled at that, looking back and forth at where they could set down the food. “My ama wanted you to have this, well, I was going to bring you a slice-”
“And my folks told me to bring something too! They all remember you from back when-”
“Ama then said to just bring the whole cake!” At a closer look, it was a comberry cake by way of snowberries, and a mushroom quiche.
“My warmest thanks to you and your families. I will just put these in the inner shrine, and you best be prepared. Think of what you would like to ask our Prince.”
She tried not to linger inside, to simply do what she came here for. While barely hungry, she was happy enough to weep, so she let her tears flow. That not only her acolytes but those she had known once thought about her on this day, that they would think to bring her…
But they are just here for an education, they will leave for greener pastures as they always do, soon enough you will be left alone, shoveling snow for all time, a voice in her head spoke.
“I am never alone, as long as Lady Azura is with me,” she replied, hand to her heart.
The silence that ensued was finally broken by the howling wind.

Dies kleine licht in mir
May this borken path of mine be lit like the scorn of the devils eyes Her mighty hand covering me in an attempt of veiled darkness Like a blanket of cold, forlorn the light I so despairingly lusted
And much like the fatale of violent pleasure There is much to be haunted by the palm that raises To cast sorrows upon the steadied ashes No small spark will ablaze what has dimmed For it is naught the eventide of enlightenment
The dawn of fortitude enduringly succumbs to the evernight forevermore For this path stays still to its oath No glimpse of morn to wane the long ache As destiny holds true to its violent psalm
