All The Things I Did (Interlude): Wave Goodbye to the End of the Beginning
a/n: ahhhh it is here! i am so freaking excited to do this little band of brothers crossover with cass. we have all been dreaming of what her friendship with nix would look like and i am happy to report that it is phenomenal. this is most certainly not the last we will see of him because i know for a fact that a night of him and john drinking together can only end in debauchery and we should all be able to experience that for ourselves. side note...what other characters should we explore? part of me wants to write a full cass x ron speirs BoB au? not sure. let me know and i love youuuuuuu
The room was more full of soldiers than she had been used to recently. Thorpe Abotts had been shrinking, slowly but surely, with each and every mission. The hole in her heart growing and growing before it tore to shreds with the loss of her husband. All her days were spent working on ways to get him back. To leverage her capability to get to the camp as a way to get him out of the camp. A man like John was not built to be caged and she would be damned if she let it go on any longer than it already had.
“Jesus Christ, it had to be you?” Cass smiled as she turned away from the pot of burnt coffee and took in the sight of the one and only Lewis Nixon.
“I’m just getting a cup of coffee, Nix. Not sure what Jesus has to do with it.” She put the cup down just in time for his hug, the smell of an old friend comforting her in a way she hadn’t known since London.
“Of all the intelligence officers in the entire Army Air Force…it’s good to see you, Coop.” Her smile didn’t reach her eyes, he noticed, and she pulled him back in for another hug. This one tighter and almost sadder. Like she was asking him to confirm she was here and she was okay. “We got a lot to catch up on?” Lew could almost tell by the way she was carrying herself that she had experienced the gamut of war over in England. Had already learned what it was like on the frontlines before he had even suited up to jump and join in.
“More than a lot.” She looked over to the maps that were covered in canvas until the briefing was set to begin. “But I think we’ve got an invasion of the European mainland to learn about first,” she muttered.
“Didn’t ever think we’d see the day.” Nixon drank from a flask and Cass smirked.
“The boys need this. Hope that it will end soon.” Lew noticed the way she was playing with her necklace, it looked like a ring, and had a hauntingly far away look in her eyes with her words.
“You got someone to bunk with?” He led her towards two empty chairs in the back of the room and sat next to her, arm slung casually over the back of her chair.
“If I say no, does that mean you are going to offer your company?” Having already known how this was going to go, Cass had a few bottles of Vat 69 in her suitcase. Nix may have been surprised to see her but she had done her research.
“Because we didn’t have a blast in DC a few summers ago? Don’t you remember how hard you laughed while swimming in the reflecting pool? You even let me hold you while we watched the sunrise.” Lewis Nixon had first met Cassandra Cooper at a seminar in Washington, DC for all recent intelligence course graduates. It had served the purpose to prepare them for their transition to the life of espionage before they shipped out. One last weekend of an air of normalcy before everything changed forever.
“That is the perfect reason as to why I would be apprehensive about sharing a hotel suite with you this weekend, Nix! I can’t afford to get into any more trouble than I’m already in.” The lights dimmed and he had to swallow his question.
“What kind of trouble?” he whispered. “Can’t be that bad if you’re a Captain now.” Cass looked at him out of the corner of her eye.
“I’ll tell you when you buy me a nice dinner tonight.”
“Now we’re making bargains?” Someone coughed a few rows behind them.
“I’m getting soup and salad and dessert.” Partially, they had bonded over the family legacies that they had run from but knew were still waiting for them at home. For that reason they both knew they could afford whatever kind of luxurious night on the town that they could find.
“You’ll tell me everything that has happened since we last spoke? Not a single detail spared?”
“Just ask if I got laid in England, Nix, it’d be easier.” He laughed out loud and the entire room shushed them. Cass snuggled deeper into her seat with a smirk as the canvas in front of them was finally illuminated and an officer stepped out to brief them.
“Ladies and gentleman, the ground invasion of Europe is here.” Everyone cheered but Cass wanted to cry. Why couldn’t it have come sooner? Why couldn’t it have come sooner to prevent the need for John to go on that last mission? The map revealed landing points along the coast of Normandy, France. She was already calculating how long it might take them to reach Germany. How long it might take them to reach the POW camps. Every calculation came back that it wasn’t soon enough. That she would have to do this herself if there was any hope of saving John. And she would need to move quickly. The minute American soldiers landed on the shores of Normandy, the SS would take control of the camps.
“Well? You impressed?” Nix asked as he held the door open for her, leading her out onto the streets of the English countryside.
“Sure. Quite the orchestral undertaking.”
“Dinner?” he asked as he offered her his arm.
“Yes. Dinner.”
----
True to their bargain, Cass spared no expense when ordering. In turn she had answered all of his questions as best he could. What had happened to that fiance that she ran from? Had she gotten to fly in a B-17? Was she really the girl on that mission to Berlin? He stayed away from the ring on her neck. From the circumstances of her promotion and relocation. The last name on the registration paper that wasn't Cooper.
“Tell me, Coop. What’s it like being in Moscow? Soviets planning to take us out with the Krauts?” She dabbed at her mouth politely as she chewed her bite of steak.
“It’s busy. They have me doing a lot of internal things. Not a lot of mainland travel but I’m trying to get back there.” Soon.
“You really are fascinating, Coop. Southern belle from so much money it could make the angels weep. Gives it all up to become a spook. Lands in Berlin before the paratroopers and gets a cushy yet high profile gig in Moscow and wants to scoff at it because she prefers the mud.” He made her sound better than she deserved. Her family money wouldn’t get John back. She had to fall back on her intangibles. The skills that she had always had, before OSS school, and that they had just taught her to weaponize. Once this conference was all over she would have the time to practice with them and sharpen them and get ready to wield them at the gates of the Stalag.
“You want to ask about the ring,” she remarked as her eyes stayed glued to her mashed potatoes.
“I’m curious. But it’s not on your finger, leads me to believe the man on the other side of it isn’t with you anymore. Yet you have it on a chain around your neck which means you parted amicably, still in love even. There are only two ways that happens. And neither of them are good dinner table conversation.” Cass had to admit she was impressed. His logic and skills of deduction were impressive especially when you considered the sheer amount of whiskey he had consumed since she bumped into him at the coffee table alone.
“And you told me you learned nothing while you were in Maryland,” she teased as she stabbed a green bean with her fork and pointed it in his direction. “He’s not dead. I’ll take that thought right of your head.” If anyone thought about it then that would give it life. Allow it to fester like an unattended wound. Cass would allow no such thing to happen.
“So the worse option then. Captured.” It was oddly comforting for him to acknowledge that it was the worse option. An odd sense of validation from an old friend blooming in her chest.
“Yeah. But like you said. Not dinner table talk.” He nodded in agreement and was back to tucking into his dinner. “I don’t have a roommate. But I do have a few bottles of Vat 69.” Life was breathed back into Lewis Nixon in an instant.
“God, I fucking love you.” They continued to laugh around dinner and she forced her stomach to compensate for the chocolate cake but then guilt started creeping in. Guilt that she was enjoying this time and living this life and it wasn’t with John. They should have been able to live these joyous moments together. “Ready?” Nix was standing and grabbing her blazer from the coat hook.
“Lew, if the tab is too much, just say so. No need for us to dine and dash.”
“Handed them cash on the way in. It’s taken care of, Coop.” Her cheeks heated as he helped her arms into the jacket. “Someone’s gotta take care of you while the other half of that ring is out of commission.” His arm was around her shoulder and he pulled her in close.
“He is very protective and very jealous. I’d be careful if I were you,” she cautioned as they walked towards the hotel in sync.
“Tell me about Mr. Cassandra Cooper.” Cass tugged the hand that was resting on her shoulder tighter around her.
“He’s a pilot from Wisconsin. Joined before Pearl.” Lew hummed in acknowledgement. “Has a mustache,” she added with a smile.
“Always saw you ending up with a mustached man.” She laughed, working her way through the hotel lobby and towards the elevator. “Sit tight. My bags are with the desk.” While waiting, her hand unconsciously drifted to grab the ring around her neck. If she focused long enough, she would almost feel it burning her palm. On particularly lonely nights she would run it down her cheeks and feel wisps of his fingers. Press it to her lips and feel the way he would whisper how much he loved her. It was exhausting to be without her other half. The piece of him that resided inside of her trying to reach him. Stretching herself thin and wearing down to the bone with the effort it took.
“How’s Kathy?” she asked when Lew got back.
“Fine,” he shrugged, “we fight over the dog a lot.”
“The dog?”
“Why? You and Mr. Mustache a picture of peace and tranquility?” His arm held the elevator doors open as she stepped inside and pressed the button that said eight.
“Major Mustache to you, Lieutenant.” Pulling her own rank on him would feel ridiculous. “And our play fighting and bantering is what gets me out of bed in the morning. Or…got me out of bed in the morning.” Now the only thing that fueled her was her plot for revenge. She was half tempted to throw a lit match into the camp and see how far that got her.
“Major. Your mother won’t be upset he isn’t a Colonel? General, even.” Harding flashed across her eyes quickly.
“She’ll be upset he isn’t a politician or a banker or a lawyer or some other traditionally pleasant profession. And she’ll be even further incensed when she learns I got married in London without her permission.” Just past the open doors, her shoes were kicked off angrily as she stalked towards the crate in the corner. “Bottle or glass?” Nix weighed his options.
“Bottle.” The one in her left hand went to him and the other went to her mouth. “It’s that kind of night?”
“That kind of year.”
----
They lost track of time as they finished their bottles and decided to share another one. They were on the floor, pillows under their heads as they looked up at the peeling paint of the ceiling.
“When this is all over, I need to meet this Major of yours. We can meet in Chicago or New York or bumfuck middle of nowhere. We can get drunk just like this and be fucking happy.” Cass smiled and laughed as he fumbled to try and light his cigarette.
“John will love that. We’ll still be married but you and Kathy…” Nix groaned.
“Kathy.” He handed it to her once he finally managed to capture it in the flame. “Absence is supposed to make the heart grow fonder, Coop.”
“I don’t like being away from him. I don’t feel like myself when he isn’t with me.” She absent-mindedly played with the ring that was resting against her chest. “I was so close to getting him out of there. He was in my arms…I just couldn’t get him on the damn horse. I wasn’t strong enough to get him out and now they have him caged.” A tear snuck out of the corner of her eye and she wiped it away harshly.
“Cass,” Nix set the bottle to the side and opened his arms up to her, “your love is going to survive this. Whatever version of you makes it out of here and whatever version of him makes it out of there are going to be so fucking in love I am going to be sick.” She snuggled deeper into his chest.
“Do you think they’ll fire me if I get myself thrown in a POW camp on purpose?” He’d warn her against it if he thought it would make a difference.
“Well, walk me through the tradecraft. Do it right, they’ll never know.” When she sat up, she looked more alive than she had in awhile.
“One of the guards has a very sick mother…”
The rest of the night was spent with her walking him through her plan. The network she had built to get her to the edge of the camp in the first place, the vulnerabilities she had found within the ranks of the guards to get her husband brought to her when required and the web she was weaving to get past the fence and into the barracks. He challenged the motivations of the guards. Challenged the security of her assets along the path. Offered her perspectives on a cover story and made sure she was emphatically aware of the danger she was taking on by enacting this plan.
“I can’t think of anyone more qualified in recklessness to take this on, Captain,” he said as the sun was beginning to peek over the horizon. “He’s one lucky fucking bastard to have a girl willing to do this for him.”
“I’m the lucky one. He’s given me a home. Something to look forward to and a place to feel safe while doing it.” She laughed with no humor behind it. “That future…he’s the only one I want it with. Any other version and it isn’t worth it.” He heard the meaning behind her words. If this was her last mission, she would be going out exactly the way she wanted to. Cass was not meant to live without John. And she didn’t plan on doing so either.
“As if I needed another reason to want Hitler dead. Now I have to add your love story to the list.” Nix rolled his eyes but there was nothing but love in them.
“Oh, have you heard the tale of Princess Spook?”
“Does she have a dashing advisor named Sir Nix?”
“Not yet but she can.”
Saying goodbye to him hurt in a way she couldn’t describe. The time spent with him shielding her from the pain and suffering that her reality had to offer her. It had felt good to talk to someone about John and not have to comfort them. Not have to recognize their pain in losing him as well. To share her thoughts and have him listen and provide solutions and not try to dissuade her from the path she was on. It was the first time she had been able to let her guard down in a long while. It would be her last chance to do so for many months.
Cass waved goodbye from the door of her train until it pulled away and Nixon was a speck on the horizon. She stayed there and looked in the same direction until the wind whipped too cold. And as she did everytime the breeze kissed her cheeks, she imagined it was John. And she kissed her fingertips and held them to the wind with a message in the hopes it would return her sentiments in kind.
I love you, John.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.

Headcanon: Every year FACE fam and Japan go to see the cherry blossom festival in Washington, DC. It’s a time honored tradition to have a picnic under the trees.
Headcanon: Every year Canada makes mochi with Japan for the picnic, while America watches after “ruining” the mochi the first time.
Headcanon: Canada loves to drink Englands special floral tea blend at the picnic. Something about that pickled cherry blossom, honey, hibiscus, and rosey blend hits the spot.
Headcanon: France always makes some new pastry to have for dessert. You’d think he’d run out but Canada counts a new one each year. This year was cherry tarts.
Headcanon: If it’s windy enough America and Canada have a kite flying competition to see who can keep theirs up the longest. Canada’s record is 4 hours.

Persuasion
Pairing: Alex Blake x Fem!Reader
Warnings: slight alcohol consumption ig
Genre: pure fluff
Word Count: 1800+
A/N: Last day of the bingo!! This fic covers the "flower petals" square. For the purpose of this fic Ethan is alive and well, Alex deserves to be happy. Absolutely UNEDITED. Enjoy!
It was going to be perfect; you had no doubts about it.
You’ve spent weeks planning this evening, making sure everything would go according to the plan and it just so happened that the universe aligned itself with your plans. Alex didn’t get called away on another case, promising you she’d return home right when her workday was over. Ethan was spending the week with his dad, and although you’d love nothing more than having the little boy included in this special moment, knowing him well enough you were sure he wouldn’t be able to contain his excitement and keep the secret. He was 8 after all.
It was your day off at Georgetown. Most Fridays you opted to work from home as you didn’t teach any classes, but this time you took an extra precaution of actually booking the day off to make sure you didn’t get called in any meetings with your students.
The morning was reserved for a trip to the farmer’s market. You picked up a few ingredients necessary for the dinner you have planned. A few aubergines, butternut squash, asparagus and fresh strawberries, the rest could be found at home. You were walking down the busy alleys, the sun shining through the clouds filled the city with warmth unusual for this time of year, but you didn’t complain, stopping by another stand to pick out a gorgeous assortment of red, white and pink peonies, one of Alex’s favourite flowers.
Strolling down the streets of Washington DC, you made a few more stops on your way home.
You stopped by a frequented by you and Alex wine cellar, picking up a few bottles of Pinot Noir, after asking the seller countless number of times whether he’s absolutely certain that the wine will pair well with the dinner you have planned.
The last stop was Cartier, were you finally got to pick up the ring you customised a few weeks prior. The golden band was adorned with diamonds, a beautiful tear-shaped stone in the middle. It was pretty simple, classy for that matter, and in your opinion absolutely perfect for Alex.
You made your way back home, after unpacking the shopping you immediately got to work. You pulled out all the decorations you have stashed them deep inside your closet when Alex was away on cases, starting with setting the table, a white tablecloth covered the wooden furniture, flowing off of the edges just right. You put a set of golden candle holders in the middle, placing the candles in their corresponding spots. You attached a few strings of warm lights to the window curtains, hoping they would enhance the atmosphere of the evening.
After that, you finally got to assembling the peony bouquets, taking out a few flowers to lay them on the table. The rest went into decorative vases you placed in the vicinity of the table, replacing previously given to you by your girlfriend irises. Although as a result of time (and your forgetfulness when it came to keeping flowers alive), the bouquets were rather dried out, you didn’t throw them away, but moved them to your bedroom. For an unknown to you reason Alex was adamant on keeping them until they were fully dry, then getting rid of them herself.
After the whole setup was finished, you started with preparing the main course: Butternut Squash Ravioli with Seared Chicken, handmaking the pasta that was to be filled with a butternut squash and ricotta filling, a recipe Rossi provided you with after your endless begging and pleading for it. When the raviolis were done (you did check with the Italian man whether the pasta was properly shaped), ready to be cooked right before the linguists planned arrival, you set them aside to start working on the dessert, cheesecake filled strawberries. You set those aside in the fridge and with a little time to spare you got to making the starter, an Aubergine Tartar.
With all the food either ready or ready to be cooked when the time comes, you started on getting yourself ready. You took a quick shower, after which, feeling refreshed and ready, you got to putting your makeup on. You decided on a natural eyeshadow, enhanced by your eyeliner and red lipstick. The clothing of your choice was a little black dress, one of Alex’s favourites, one that hugged your curves perfectly in all the right places. You put on a pair of black heels, a pearl necklace and matching to it earrings.
Looking at the time, you were certain the linguist might walk through the door any minute now, so you rushed to light up the candles and turn on the window lights, dimming all other lighting in the room. You put on Alex’s favourite playlist, one full of classics, setting the atmosphere perfect for what was about to come.
The last thing to be done was placing the ring in a case you prepared yourself. You opted for something more personalised than a simple box. You got one of Alex’s favourite novels, the one she would never admit is one of her favourites, Persuasion by Jane Austen. You carefully cut a heart shape through the pages up to page 148, where you highlighted the words “I”, “love” and “you” and hung the ring on a piece of ribbon so that it would sit amongst the highlighted text, although now thinking about it you were worried that you might give her a heart attack, so you made a mental note to reassure the brunette that her beloved copy is still safe and sound on her bookshelf. You decorated the book with a red ribbon, tying in in a perfect bow that sat right in the centre of the cover.
You placed the book on the table next to the couch, making it easy to reach when the moment for you to gift it to your hopefully soon-to-be fiancé would come.
Just as you were done setting everything up you heard the familiar sound of clattering keys outside of your apartment. You quickly rushed away from the small table, heading towards the kitchen. Just as Alex entered the apartment you managed to open the wine you purchased earlier today and pour some for the two of you, leaving the glasses on the kitchen island.
“Welcome home.” you said heading towards the older woman. God was she ever so beautiful, you must admit you had a soft spot for all her suits, and despite the tiring workday behind her she still looked as stunning as ever.
She softly smiled at you, taking her coat and shoes off before heading deeper into the apartment. You placed a gentle kiss on her cheek before taking her hand in yours
“Is there something I’m forgetting?” she questioned taking in the surroundings, the room was lit by the dimmed light coming from the fairy lights hung on the curtains, accompanied by the warm light of the candles. “I’m pretty sure our anniversary isn’t until February?”
“Can’t a girl treat her girlfriend to a nice dinner after a long day at work?” you replied with a sly smile, picking up the wine glasses and handing one to Alex.
“I guess she can.” The linguist replied, placing a kiss on your cheek.
“Come, you relax and I’ll have the food plated.”
Alex did just as you asked, taking a seat at the table, you served the starter and took your seat as well. The two of you chatted over the food, Alex catching you up on all the recent cases as well as the typical BAU “drama”. You laughed together while you served her the main course, now definitely knowing you’ve fully exposed your cooking skills and there was no way back.
“I have a feeling there is more to this than just an after-work dinner?” she asked with a smile plastered across her face.
“You’d be right about that my love.” You giggled as you stood up from your seat. “Seen right through me, wouldn’t expect any less from a profiler.” You added with a grin, walking towards the little table the novel was resting on. You took the book in your hands, heading back towards the linguist who was still sitting at the table. “I got you a little something,”
She took the book in her hands, carefully examining the cover, tracing her fingers over the indented feathers scattered across it. She gently untied the ribbon, taking in the beauty of the limited edition of the novel when she whispered “How did you find it?”
“I have my sources.” you replied with the utmost adoration for the woman sitting in front of you. “I think you should open it.”
Alex did just as you asked, her eyes widening at what was hidden inside. “I-… are you-“ She looked up from the book to see you down on one knee right in front of her.
“Alex Blake, will you marry me?”
“Oh my god.” she whispered, still not fully believing what was happening. “Yes, god yes!” she added, cupping your cheeks in her hands and placing one of the softest yet most passionate kisses on your lips.
You giggled into the kiss, wrapping your arms around her waist and pulling her even closer to you. When you finally pulled away you could see her eyes glistening with tears of happiness, you untangled the ring from the ribbon that was holding it, sliding it onto her finger.
She carefully wiped the stray tears that escaped her eyes, her face still painted with that beautiful smile of hers, when she spoke again. “Give me one moment.” Alex said before she ran off to your bedroom.
The woman came back holding what looked like a glass vase filled with something you couldn’t quite recognise and a little black box. She walked up to you, setting the items on the table in front of you.
Looking up at you, she took one of your hands into her embrace. “I um… These are the petals from all the flowers we’ve ever gotten for each other, you’ve been always asking me why I’m so adamant on getting rid of them myself so I think it’s time to give you an answer now.” The older woman chuckled slightly as she kept explaining. “From our first date I knew I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I thought this will be a nice addition, the petals representing the whole length of our relationship being thrown down as we walk down the aisle.”
“Alex… I-“ it was time for you to start tearing up, the smile not leaving your face.
“Now I know you beat me to it,” she whispered, picking up the small black box off the table “But will you marry me?”
The tears were now freely falling down your cheeks as you looked in her beautiful hazel eyes. “God, you know I will!”
It was now Alex’s turn to slide the ring onto your finger. Although this wasn’t exactly the turn of events you expected you couldn’t be happier. You get to spend the rest of your life with her by your side after all.

more questions (sanrio asks)
@nuklearis-sutotok I keep finding these lists on your blog so this means I'm doing it
sanrio asks
kerroppi: what's your comfort film?
There are so many movies that it's soooo hard for me to choose just one. I don't usually watch movies more than twice, either. But I'm gonna have to go with Forrest Gump.
chococat: what do you miss the most about your childhood?
Not having to worry about college and my future and politics and world news and everything. When I was young I didn't get it.
gudetama: which animal do you think you're most like?
My mom thinks I'm like an elephant. Guess we'll go with that, then.
hello kitty: if it were possible, which planet would you want to live on other than earth?
I'm boring so let's go with Mars.
pochacco: are you a naturally flirty person?
I don't really try that hard.
little twin stars: how would you describe your style?
It's mostly hoodies and jeans.
my melody: what is your dream job?
I'd really like to be a chemist one day.
badtz-maru: favorite place you've traveled to?
Medford, Oregon.
Washington, DC. Maybe I'm biased because I went in April and took selfies with the cherry blossoms and literally all of the monuments on the National Mall. And the weather was good. Reminds me of this song I was listening to after waking up at 5:30 am in my hotel room. What was I talking about again?
pompompurin: how tall are you? do you wish you were any taller or shorter?
I'm like 5'1 but I have these platform sandals that make me around 5'2 or 5'3 and I wear them whenever I can. I wish I were taller honestly. Then I'd be able to reach things.
tuxedo sam: what is your love language?
That's hard. I just try to support people by listening to them whenever they need help. Like I don't try to fix all their problems I just try to make them feel validated. That should be enough.
cinnamoroll: favorite dessert?
Almond cake from IKEA.
pekkle: beach or mountains?
As a born-and-raised San Diegan I am required to answer with the beach. There's always something special about that feeling when I'm jogging by Torrey Pines and taking pictures with the birds. The best time to visit is when there's the King Tides.
kuromi: if you could have any hair color, what color would you choose?
I've always wanted to dye my hair dark blue.
pandapple: what genre of music do you listen to the most?
J-pop obviously but also I'm kind of into thrash metal.
charmmy kitty: what are your favorite video games?
Pokemon and Project SEKAI.
chi chai monchan: are you more introverted or extroverted?
Honestly, I don't know. That's what I tell everyone. Going by Jungian psychology an introvert is someone who recharges by spending time alone and that's actually very true. Like I'm all for social gatherings but after that I just need some alone time.
lloromannic: what are your favorite pizza toppings?
Barbecue chicken. That's just how we roll in California.
bonbonribbon: do you have any tattoos? if so, how many?
None and I don't want to get any.
dear daniel: can you sing well?
It's not up to me to judge my own singing voice. I just sing because it's fun. And so I can mix covers and make music videos because that's my favorite part of the process.
my sweet piano: which social media app do you use the most?
Tumblr obviously and also Discord. Those are the only two socials I have.
So yeah I guess I'm done

2023 Capricorn Solstice
Friday, December 22, 2023, 03:27 UT Chart erected for Washington, DC (Thursday, December 21, 22:28 EST)
Merry Yule north of the equator, and Merry Litha south of it!
I just love this chart. There is a fantastic double sextile (I think some people call them “mini grand trines” but “double sextile” is more accurately descriptive):
the Sun and Mercury Rx in Capricorn, are sextile Saturn/Pisces;
Saturn/Pisces is sextile the Moon and Jupiter Rx in Taurus;
the Sun and Mercury Rx are trine the Moon and Jupiter Rx.
An Earth sign trine giving us great potential for practical, material achievement and blessings - and Saturn/Pisces working to help, asking us to aim high. Not so much “fabulous earthly success,” though, as “living up to our higher ground.” We’re really motivated to do things. With both Mercury and Jupiter retrograde, we’re more thoughtful. If you’re working on your New Year’s Resolutions, this is good energy for coming up with sterling ones.
Warnings include being aware (wary) of fanaticism, either our own or others’; going to emotional extremes because we’re bored; and staying in toxic situations because we are related or married to the perpetators.
It will also be easy to snooze on through the promise of the double sextile. We have to actively take advantage of it.
🎄🎄🎄
This time of year always makes me think of cookies. My maternal grandma absolutely excelled as a baker, my mom was a very close second - and every December they collaborated on baking many different kinds of cookies. My younger sister and I were allowed to decorate the sugar cookies, using colored icing and various sprinkles. Good times.
Alas, I did not inherit that “baking” gene - but my family had another tradition I can pull off: dessert after Christmas dinner was always peppermint ice cream. My daughter and I improved on that when we discovered that putting some chocolate sauce on the peppermint ice cream, is ambrosia.
Every year, on or about Christmas Eve, the transiting Sun is sextile my natal Neptune. This is one Neptune thing I can and do pick up on - even as a little girl, at night I would take myself off and sit alone by the Christmas tree, enjoying the silence and the lights. No thinking about “the significance and message of the season,” just the peace and quiet.

revelations in hawaii - jack hughes.
Warnings: talks of racism. swearing.
Word Count: 2.6k +
────────────
daphne landeskog is the adopted younger sister of colorado captain, gabriel landeksog. and after his relocation to the us, she decided she would go to school in nyc. so she accepted her acceptance at columbia university and was majoring in political science, with a minor in journalism. she had hopes of either returning to europe and settling in london or make the big decision of staying in new york or moving to washington dc. she knew that either way, she would be happy. however, she was more drawn to staying in new york because of her boyfriend of 3 years. she met jack at a party in new jersey one weekend, visiting some friends of her roommates. they have been dating since 2019, the year he came into the league. though they were extremely young - they knew they were the one's for one another.
despite them being together for 3 years almost, she had yet to tell her brother. in particular, who he was. yet, nobody really knew besides jack's sibiling/parents and some of his friends and hers. he wanted to protect what they had, especially against ignorant and close minded people. besides, the two had barely met up with one another anyways so it wasn't that difficult. mel had somewhat of an idea of who it might be, because of how secretive she always was when gabe came to town to play the devils. though daphne never gave any verbal confirmation, mel saw the subtle glances and texts that she sent when they watched the game together. it was a standing tradition for mel to fly to watch the new york games and new jersey game, when the avalanche came to town. mel didn't know who, but she would figure it out soon enough.
daphne was laying on her and jacks' hotel room couch in hawaii. it was now by week and the two had jetted of to the state of coconuts and the disney hotel. though jack joked he couldn't be caught dead there. she was on her phone, waiting for jack to finish up with his hair, which was taking longer than usual. "ugh come on dude." she yelled jokingly to which jack responded with, "im coming bro." as he walked out. she took a double take at the custom made suit, and walked over to smooth it out. "not bad jacky." she smiled wrapping her arms around his neck. he laid his hands on her lower back, admiring her effortless yet chic dress. "looking beautiful as always." he smirked pecking her lips quickly. "lets get a move on chief." he smiled pulling her along out the hotel room door. they took a slow stroll towards the restaraunt on the property. taking in the warm, dusk breeze that was rolling on through. they walked towards the hostess, and was seated not a moment later. where they spent the next two hours enjoying carribean food and yummy dessert.
────────────
it was 9 am the next morning when gabe was taking a stroll with mel on the beach. they walked along the shores of maui, taking in the morning sun. they were walking along the beach facetiming gabes' mom when he heard a familiar voice. he looked to his left, searching for the voice. "gabe?" his mom asked, trying to regain his attention. mel followed the voice and she immeditely starting freaking out. "hun - look!" she said pointing towards the voice. daphne yelled for jack to come back to put some more sunscreen on his face. "jack rowden!" she said playfully, giving him a mocking glare. he grinned, jogging back up to the girl and allowing her to spray his face. "there, now you may go swim." she mused, pushing him away. he winked at her before setting back off for the water. gabe stood their, looking dumfounded while mel smiled widely and took the phone from gabe. "we found your daughter." she mused, flipping the camera to show daphne. "oh yes! she said something about taking a girls trip to hawaii for the weekend." she said matter of factly. "oh well, it doesn't look like one." mel responded giggling. "wait what?" her mom asked, and mel grabbed gabe's hand. "no, it look's like she's with a boy." she mused, as she flipped the camera back to them. gabe was still watching the scene unfold. "did you know about this mama?" he asked. his mom didn't speak for a few seconds, "she told me awhile back she was seeing somebody but didn't tell me who." she responded and gabe seemed like he was gonna burst. "Oh gabriel, don't make that face. it's not the end of the world." she said and that's when gabe figured out who the guy was. "jack hughes?" he said confused. "that name sounds familiar." his mom said, "what do you mean?" gabe asked looking down. "she said something when she was here during the summer. it was on her phone, when i was passing her room one day. and i recgonized that she was in new jersey alot though she said her friend had friends there." their mom explained and gabe nodded. "ill talk to you late mama, im gonna go say something." he said and they said goodbye.
daphne sat down on the beach lounger and fixed her sunhat before leaning back and picked up her book for the weekend. she looked up as she saw somebody or somebodies standing in front of her. her eyes went wide with shock for a moment before shutting her book, "oh hey guys. what are you guys doing here?" she questioned. "its by week, so we took the trip just the two of us." mel responded quickly. she smiled widely, "can we pleae meet the boy?" she questioned excitdely. to which gabe rolled his eyes, and looked back to find jack. daphne shot up, "uh, im here with some friends actually." she said trying to get gabe to turn around. too late. jack was walking back up the beach and caught the glare of gabe. he continued to walk up, and then past them to grab his towel. "hey gabe." he said nervously, as he ran the towel through his hair a few times. "jack." gabe said giving him a curt nod. "hi! im melissa, but you can call me mel." mel said putting her hand out for the young boy. he smiled politely, "hi mel, im jack." he said. ofcourse jack was calm and collected, daphne thought. she smiled when he pressed a kiss to her cheek and stated that he was going to get some iced coffee and that he'd be back. as soon as he was out of ear shot, daphne looked nervously to gabe. "i-" daphne was cut off by gabe. "please tell me this is new." he said. she swallowed and looked down. gabe breathed in a huge breath. "how. long." he stated. she looked at mel before responding, "um- three years this weekend actually." she confessed. gabe ran a hand through his hair. "three years daphne? three fucking years and nothing?!" he said frustrated. "im sorry." she said, trying to hold back tears. "no! sorry wont cut it." he said before walking off. "ill talk to him." mel said hugging her quickly and then walking off to follow him.
daphne sat back on the beach chair and rubbed her eyes. "daph?" jack said as soon as he sat down. he was very concerned as he saw her body language. "darling are you okay?" he questioned pulling her into his chest. she sniffled as she shook her head no. "he's mad." she said before sobbing. her only sibiling was mad at her, she just didn't understand. "im gonna go back to the room." she said a few minutes later, beginning to pull away from jack. "i'll go with you." he said and she nodded, thankful. they walked back to their hotel room, and headed towards the elevator. as soon as they walked out of their room, they saw mel down the hall. she caught sight of the two and walked towards them. they stopped at their room, "he's walking it off. so dramatic for no reason." mel explained and the two nodded. "i shouldn't even have to explain why i've kept it to myself these past few years. why we don't post on social media. he should already know." she said and mel nodded. she understood. jack walked in leaving mel and daphne alone. "let's grab lunch at 3?" mel offered and daphne nodded, and the leaned in for a hug. "talk to you later." daphne said before walking in the room.
daphne sat down at the table waiting for mel, but that wasn't mel's plan. gabe walked into the french restaurant and spoke to the hostess and then she led the way to daphne. daphne looked up and saw gabe, and as soon as she was about to get up, gabe put his hand up. he sat down across from her, and daphne shifted in her seat. "don't go." he said softly. she looked up from her plate, catching his eye. she nodded, before sipping her water. gabe ordered his go to drink, and daphne ordered an arnold palmer. they ordered a charcuterie board and some bread. they thanked the waiter and they sat in silence for a few minutes. "im sorry." gabe started, startling the girl. she cocked her head to the side, furrowing her eyebrows a bit. "i over reacted and im sorry for that. i understand why you haven't said anything privatley and publicly. im not naive, and i apologize for making you uncomfortable or upset." he finished. she nodded, swallowing. "thankyou gabe. even though i felt the need to 'hide' my relationship, i didn't need to hide from you or mel. you guys deserve that respect. i've kept mama and papa in the dark for almost three years as well and that was wrong of me. it honestly made things easier, when i didn't go home during the summer or atleast didn't have extended periods there." she paused as the waiter came back up with the food. "however, i was terrified. our relationship hasn't been easy when we are in public. so i didn't want to let people in, especially via instagram and twitter. we've been heckled and talked to when we go out places. or if i leave to use the washroom or something, people have come up and told jack that he shouldn't be with somebody that wasn't white." she paused sniffling and gabe reached across and grabbed her hand. "i wanted to tell you guys so badly, i really did." she added. "but after we told some people in jacks life just because somebody told somebody in a groupchat and like, he had to drop those people because they said rude things about me and our relationship. and so after that, i decided to keep things private. because i was afraid somebody might say something on the avalanche. i didn't want it spreading." she finished. he shook his head, "dont apologize, no explanation needed. i appreciate your honesty though, ill need that list so i can take care of things on the ice though." he said half joking at the end. she grinned before shaking her head.
the sibilings spent the next two hours talking, catching up, talking about jack and his family. "dude, i seariously think jack is the one though." she said towards the end of the lunch. gabe took a double look at his younger sister before smiling. "really?" he questioned, a look of pure awe. she nodded, "yeah, i don't see myself with anybody else. and even though we are young we talk about it a ton." she mused. gabe smiled, smiling widely. "his family loves me and i adore them. and i know everybody will love him. ive decided to bring him home for a month this summer. the minute i told him, he immeditely booked our flights." she said laughing. "and actually, jack really wants to meet with you. he wants to talk, hang and get to know you. and if you can, that would mean so much." she added. gabe nodded, "ofcourse, how about we all meet up for dinner at the mexican restaurant at 8? and then jack and i can meet at the hotel bar at 6:30?" he said typing away on his phone. she nodded, and they walked out of the restaurant.
the time was 8:15 pm and the guys in question had yet to arrive to dinner. mel and daphne, ordered appetizers and some drinks, waiting for them. "gabe told me, that you said he was the one." mel smirked sipping her vodka cranberry. daphne blushed as she sipper her spiked arnold palmer. "yeah..." she mused. "love that. im so excited to talk to him!" mel said giddily. daphne playfully rolled her eyes, "go figure! you literally would of figured out things if we weren't having this, somehow someway." daphne laughed and mel gave her a knowing look before winking. a second later they heard two guys laughing and they were drawn to the sound. they saw jack and gabe laughig about something. the two were definetly intoxicated, but at the point where they could still hold a conversation. but they looked relaxed and looked like they were having a good time. "hi guys!" mel said smiling, trying to stifle he laugh. gabe leaned down and pecked mel. jack did the same once he sat down. he grabbed ahold her hand and brought it to his lap. "have fun?" she asked leaning closer. he smirked, "you had not reason to be nervous." he smirked before pecking her again. they pulled apart, as the waitress came back up to get the two guys' drinks. "stick with water, this round." mel cut in and the two playfully leand back and pouted. "yeah, we don't need any chaos." daphne joked to which mel pointed at her. "well, dig in. we didn't order this many appetizers for them to go to waist." daphne said taking a tortilla chip biting a piece off. "yes, please!" mel added and the two hockey players dug in.
the dinner went smoothly and the four got on very very well. which meant that ej and his fiance had some rivals in the dinner date department. jack and daphne walked back into their room, and she quickly tore off her heels. she adjusted back to her usual 5'4 height and headed straight for the bathroom to wash her makeup off. "hey hun!" she called out, and a minute later he walked in ready to help her. "can you grab my zipper?" she questioned and he nodded unzipping her dress. she smiled thankfully, about to reach over for the robe. he wrapped his arms around her from behind and looked at her through the mirror. she smiled placing her hands on his, "hi honey- everything ok?" she questioned and he nodded smiling. "yeah, yes. everything is good, just admiring my girl." he said before placing a kiss on her shoulder. "i love you so so much, today just confirmed it once more." he mused and she nodded unsurely. "don't get sappy on me right now, i need to take my makeup off first." she joked and he chuckled a bit. he untied his arms and began to walk into the master room, but before he did he turned around at the door. she quickly tore off her dress and put on the hotel robe. he turned around as she wrapped tied it. "im gonna marry you someday, y'know that right?" he asked startling her. she froze, and looked towards the man grinning. she slowly smiled before nodding. "uh huh." she stated before going to grab her double cleanser. "well- expect something to happen. soon." he said non chalantly before walking out. daphne's eyes went wide, "jack rowden hughes- you can't say things like that and just walk away!" she playfully screamed, going after him.

Hey, Sis,
So, I've been thinking about putting together a bucket list. I had one a long time ago and my ex saw it and helped me to cross some of those off. He took me horseback riding for my birthday. Of course, we didn't have a guide and we needed one cause the horses knew we didn't know what we were doing and mine stopped to eat grass and i told him to go and he tried to buck me off. Needless to say, we had to change horses. But that was cool. I'd like to do it in a situation where I had a guide, or someone could teach me a thing or two first.
He took me to The Grand Canyon. We didn't get to stay long but I definitely saw it. Well, part of it, lol. I definitely want to go back and see a different part or look at it a bit longer. And he helped me with a few others.
Anyway, I had been thinking about this - before I even met you and learned of your love of cherries - but I have ALWAYS wanted to try Cherries Jubilee. I mean, always. I absolutely LOVE Bananas Foster - it is my all-time favorite dessert. We have a Cajun restaurant here that makes it, but it's mostly ice cream, lol. I've had it once where there was a lot more banana and a lot more Foster and that was good too. But I am putting Cherries Jubilee on my list. I know of no one who serves it. So ... I will probably only get it if I ever go on a cruise that offers it, or I make it. But I'm going to work it out.
That leads me to going on a cruise. But it has to be the right one to the right place, because I am not rich. I am not married to Izzy Stradlin unfortunately. I will get to go on one cruise. And really, did he ever have to go on a cruise? I mean, he probably had a yacht chartered once or twice. What am I saying? Probably a lot of times. I think he once performed at a wedding in St. Tropez and another one in Spain, so ... I digress. Sorry.
So:
Cherries Jubilee
Cruise
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Graceland / Memphis
Washington D.C.
(I didn't go on the 8th grade trip - sure wish I had cause it would have been much cheaper with the whole student discount/8th grade program the government works out with the schools. Did you go on it?)
Oh ... I think I want to try Caviar one time. Not a lot. Just once.
Hmmm ... a couple I will not share here, lol. But I still think they are very necessary and worthwhile endeavors!
So, these are not goals, but just things to check off.
Have you done any or all of the things on my bucket list above? Have you had Cherries Jubilee, and if so, where?! Actually, I'm pretty sure you've been to Graceland - and I know you have been to Memphis. Just unsure of the rest!
Love,
Your Sis xoxoxo
I have done three of the things on your bucket list: Graceland twice, two cruises, and Washington DC.
The DC trip was my 8th grade class trip. I would love to go back now because I feel like I didn’t appreciate it as much back then as I would now.
I have been to GL twice, once when I was 17 and another time probably about 9 or 10 years ago with Eric. Of course, I’ve been to Memphis, I’m still here. 😆
One cruise was when I was 8. My mom and stepdad took my sister (who was 18 at the time) and her boyfriend and me on the Disney cruise/Bahamas for my sister’s graduation present. I got a cruise for MY grad present too, but ours was a bit different: a three day cruise to the Bahamas (on a smaller cruise ship, where I was seasick the first night), then 4 days in Orlando for all things Disney. Just me, my mom, and my 6 month preggo sister. Fun fact about the Disney cruise when I was 8: they thought it would be funny to feed me escargot, so they ordered me a dish, told me it was PORK, and I loved it so much, they ordered me a second dish. I did not find out until much later that escargot = SNAILS lol. I was not as grossed out as I probably should’ve been, and I’ve had it a few times since then. I still love it. Go figure.
I have also had caviar. I love that too. Goes great with smoked salmon and cream cheese on some fancy ass crackers.
Never had cherries jubilee, but it sounds yummy.
The R&RHOF would be fun. I love doing that kind of shit.

🐴 + Yasmin ❤️❤️
OMG, MY NEW BB! THANK YOU SM FOR ASKING!
1. Their favorite musical: Aladdin, definitely
2. Their first ever Halloween costume: Yasmin’s mom dressed her up as Tigger from Winnie-the-Pooh, and let me just say that she was freaking precious
3. Their favorite 2010s song: Mine by Taylor Swift
4. Their favorite kind of weather: Yasmin is the kind of girlie who loves those cloudless, scorching hot, summer days because it means she can lay by the pool in her bikini and do absolutely nothing, but read and listen to music
5. What extracurriculars they did in school: McKinley High Girls’ Tennis Team, Student Government, New Directions Glee Club, and lead singer/guitarist in Cherry Bomb (her best friend, Ruby’s, band)
6. Their favorite word: Elegant
7. About their first kiss: Yasmin’s first kiss was with the son of one of her parents’ old Washington DC contacts. The family had come to Lima when she was about 8 or 9 to visit, and the two kids went out to the backyard after dinner to eat their dessert and hang. They started talking about how dorky their dads are, what their favorite school subject was, if Ravenclaw was better than Hufflepuff, anything they could think of. In the middle of their Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff debate, the kids both realized how close their faces had gotten. Suddenly, the son asks if he could kiss her. Taken by surprise, Yasmin said sure, and thus proceeded to have her first kiss. It was a little slobbery, but not terrible as far as first kisses go
8. What kind of posters they had in their room as a kid: Yasmin IDOLIZED Serena Williams when she was younger, so her room was covered in Serena posters. There was also a few Aladdin posters (as that was her favorite Disney movie), and a poster of Corbin Bleu because she had a massive crush on him after seeing HSM for the first time
9. If they have a lucky object (and what it is): Yasmin’s mother gave her one of those Juicy Couture charm bracelets before she started middle school, and it’s been her good luck charm for everything
10. Their saddest injury: Yasmin saw Kurt getting slammed into a locker by Karofsky one day, and she just started going at him: hitting, kicking, punching, you name it. It wasn’t until she punched him in the face where Karofsky punched back, making Yasmin ricochet into the lockers. She ended up with another concussion and a black eye
