Crimson, the colour of Cale’s hair.

That was the colour Cale can see right now. However, he is not looking at his hair.

“Ugh!”

Instead, he was looking at the blood dripping from your mouth.

“Stop speaking. This is not good for you.”

“Why not? You cough up blood all the time. Why can’t I do the same?”

You joked lightly but Cale didn’t like how weak your voice sounded. Indeed, he always coughs up blood. Especially whenever he overuses his ancient powers. But the blood he coughs up is dark red. Dead blood from his regeneration powers cleansing his body.

Not the vibrant crimson blood dripping from your chin. Blood from a beating heart, a sign of vitality as Eruhaben would say.

“I need to continue, you need to know about this. We must hurry up so just- ugh… so just listen.”

When you told Cale you were going to pull a “World Tree-nim and a Cale combo”, he didn’t know what he expected. 

It certainly wasn’t you trying to give out spoilers from your beloved book and coughing out copious amounts of blood.

“There will be monsters. Ones too hard to– Ugh! Fuck! I’m sure you understand what I mean.”

“That’s two out of five. Those things will be in a pit. It’ll look like statues, you will also see… you will also see an altar there…”

“You don’t need to speak anymore. Please, the rest of us will figure it out.”

“No, no. I’m fine really… Bear bastard, you know who it is, hostages. He’ll– Ugh!”

“It’s Tasha’s people. For a summoning– Fuck that one really hurts! I'm trying to speak as vaguely as possible already, what the hell…”

Cale wanted to refuse. He wanted this to end.

At first, it was just from your mouth.

The blood that is.

Then it started dripping from your left eye. Naturally, your right eye was next.

Then your nose. Then your ears.

Before the commander knew it, your entire face was covered with blood. He tried to wipe it, but they were dripping so quickly that it did nothing.

Cale doesn’t know how are you still conscious. He isn’t even sure if you’re still breathing. That was why he wanted you to shut up. That was why he desperately wanted this to stop.

But it can’t

Cale can’t refuse nor can he end this.

It was because you already made up your mind. And since you did, there’s no stopping you now.

So he gets Raon. Warned the toddler that the sight inside the room would not be pretty, but he must listen. Because their futures are resting upon the words you are about to say.

Upon the words written in your beloved book.

“Human…”

“I know… If you can’t listen I’ll listen for you and rely on the message.”

“No… I’m great and mighty. Because I’m great and mighty I shall listen to this conversation myself.”

Raon flew over to where you were. Placing himself on your lap as he uses his stubby paws to hug you.

“Ah, it feels comforting to have such a great and mighty being comforting me. But you’ll get blood on you– Ugh..!”

Drip. Drip.

The black dragon didn’t care about the blood. He just hugged you tighter at the sound of you coughing up more blood.

“Raon Miru-nim remember this well. Things might get messy and despite my meddling things might still go awry. So I’m telling you right now. In Endable, Cale might become incapacitated to fight– Fuck! Ugh, I promised to not curse in front of you…”

Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.

“It will be hard, you will need to do everything yourself, without Cale. In fact, you will have to do his job– ugh… but you must do well. Remember, the first thing you have to do is have Mila-nim on standby. She can heal him.”

Raon tightened his hug and you weakly reciprocated it. You aren't sure if the wetness you feel in your shirt is from your blood or the dragon’s silent tears. Nonetheless, you still tried to hug Raon tighter.

In the meanwhile, Cale was already calling for servants and healers to attend to you as soon as you admitted your limit. His voice was laced with unusual panic. It made the others who didn’t know what was happening move with urgency.

“Raon-nim…”

“Yes?”

“You are strong, smart, great and mighty, always remember that.”

You weakly stroked Raon’s back, trying to comfort him in advance for the things about to come.

“Young master what’s going on–”

Beacrox and Ron stopped in their tracks when they saw the condition you were in.

“Ahahaha, you guys are right on time. I think… I’m going.. To…”

You couldn’t even finish your sentence for you already fell unconscious. Your body dangerously swaying to fall off from your sitting position on the couch. Luckily, Cale was nearby and managed to catch your falling body.

Cale glanced at you, then he glanced at the open book on the table.

As usual, he couldn’t see what was written on the pages. He could only see the cover title at the front and the synopsis at the back.

But that doesn’t stop him from hating that damned book that put you in this state.

If only you haven’t read that book before coming here.

it was the rain.

i swear i was fine until i watched the droplets of water begin to pour down onto the ground.

the sickening crack of thunder accompanied the obnoxiously loud sounds of the rain, almost as though the universe was laughing at me.

as my wet t-shirt stuck to my skin, i was brought back to the one night that i wanted to forget more than anything. the night that i ruined everything.

i was holding her in my arms, consoling her after another failed attempt at a date. she had grown desperate, fearing that she would never truly find the right person for her.

but how could she think that when i was right there? i was always there.

i dropped everything and anything the second she needed me, yet it was never enough for her. usually, i would suck it up and push my feelings aside. but not that night.

“this dating thing is stupid. you’re never gonna find love if you keep trying to force it. this is getting exhausting, aren’t you tired?”

i had finally reached my breaking point, and i snapped. i snapped at the one person who i genuinely didn’t think i could live without.

it was selfish of me, and she made sure i knew it.

“you’re my best friend, you should be supporting me instead of discouraging me. just because you’ve given up on finding love doesn’t mean i should”

she was right, to a certain extent. a good friend would support her, but that was the issue. i didn’t want to just be her friend anymore.

“i’m not discouraging you, i’m just trying to point you in the right direction”

“why the hell would i even take advice from you? no offense, but your love life has been pretty non-existent lately”

she had never spoken to me that way before, but i could tell that she meant the words.

i was so wrapped up in the pain that her words brought me, that i hadn’t even realized that she was making her way towards the door.

before i could will myself to stop her, she twisted the knob and stepped out into the pouring rain. she stood there for a few seconds, waiting for me to speak up. she wanted me to fight for our friendship, but i simply couldn’t. i was tired of this same cycle, repeating itself over and over again.

she goes on a date, it goes terrible, she comes crying to me, i encourage her to get back up onto her feet, and she finds someone new. every. single. time.

i couldn’t spend the rest of my life chasing after someone who was waiting on some stranger to sweep her off her feet.

the idea of confessing to her did strike my mind, but i decided to avoid it. part of me was relieved that she was stepping out of the door, maybe it was time to focus on myself.

after a few more seconds, she walked out and slammed the door behind her.

sixty seconds. that’s how long it took to completely destroy our friendship. it all happened so fast, the gravity of the situation didn’t hit me until well after she left.

the only evidence that she had been there was the smudged mascara and tear drops that she left on my t-shirt.

all i wanted was my happy ending. i wanted her to look at me with the same loving look that i gave her. i wanted her to see me as something other than her pillow to dirty up and cry on. i wanted to know what it felt like to be loved by her.

i wanted her. i loved her.

i think she knew that deep down, she was just too scared to say anything.

maybe it was better this way, for both of us. people come and go, and that’s normal. that’s just the way life goes.

I do have some other IFs that I worked on in the past but I don't recommend playing them (I was still learning how to write at that time, so they aren't great). But if you want some IF reccs, I can recommend some IFs I've read recently.

(Sorry for the tags friends, and for the rants!)

(Released) My all time favourite is The Fernweh Saga by @lacunafiction - it's just genuinely so good and it always gives me the vibes of one of those shows you watch after dinner, that becomes part of your routine and you want to see desperately what happens after, and the characters become part of your memories, almost like people. It's just UGH such a good IF. If you like nostalgic hometown horrors, this IF is for you.

(Released) Very close favourite is Blood Moon by @barbwritesstuff - WEREWOLVES GUYS!! I've replayed this game so many times. It's one of those games that after you finish, no matter how long of a break you take from it, you always return to it. I love the "found family" of this game, even though it's not really found, it's just... family. I miss them! The romance in this story is also written so beautifully.

(Released) Another fav is The Golden Rose by @anathemafiction - it was one of my favs while it was still in WIP and after it's released I took so long to play it cause I never wanted to finish it. Like, I grew so attached to its story that I didn't want to let it go. 😭 Very well written characters and the descriptions of things, places, feelings, expressions, mannerisms, is so endearing and eye-catching, never a second where I skipped a line, I was CAUGHT. If you like a story with ominous beginnings, middles and ends, this is for you, not to mention the whole religion themes that are so interesting to dive into.

(Released) I miss this one so much but The Soul Stone War by @intimidatingpuffinstudios - there's two books out for this one already and each one is better than the previous. It's fantasy and about powers and there's a dragon lady that you can romance, and the POLY IN THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! Very soulmate-y romance and just generally captivating storytelling.

(Released) Nothing will ever hit the same as The Passenger by @the-passenger-if - there's just something so familiar, so memorable about this story. I don't think in my next lifetime I will ever forget it. It's about an eldritch horror battling with humanity and it's raw primal role as a monster. It feels short but only because you're so into it that time passes you by, but the tone and the flow of this story is very well done (as well as the characters! 🥰).

(WIP) I feel like everyone and their mothers know about Infamous by @infamous-if - but I'm going to talk about it anyways. It's a BAND IF, yes, music, yes, adrenaline, fame, and all the bad decisions that come with it. It's only one chapter out right now, but it's very worth it. I guarantee you the brainrot you will get from this game is going to consume your life.

(WIP) A somewhat popular one as well is Body Count by @bodycountgame - I haven't seen a game do the whole modern reality TV show with a tinge of horrifying brutal horror as well as Nell has, and even though it's still in its early stages, it's very well done and interesting. Lots of ROs to choose from, and genuinely funny humour to laugh about in between the crying sessions of a favourite character dying.

(WIP) Haven't heard that many people talking about this one to be fair but Chop Shop by @losergames - Also a very early stages game, but it's very adrenaline inducing and has so much potential that has me shaking in my seat. I'm already half in love with the cast and I can't wait to go need for speed and play a super chaotic individual.

Someone (who doesn't even watch football) posted about how bills fans hate Daniel and their evidence was exactly 3 comments under one of the instagram posts calling Daniel a bad luck charm because he's attended games that the bills have lost. I went to the bills insta comments and I had scroll down to find it, they weren't even the top comments i had to ijbol 😭 just dropped by because I remembered your tags from 2022 when you said

Loki Season 2 – Episode 1 RECAP

HERE WE GO AGAIN! FINALLY! LET’S DO THIS, SHALL WE?

As always, HEAVY SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 1 BELOW THE CUT!

Did I stay up until 3 a.m. to watch the first episode again? Yes. Yes, I did.

We are starting off so damn STRONG. Damn it, I just wanted to hug Loki so bad. He’s been through so much shit and he was so heartbroken and desperate! Imagine you get to cup his face and just tell him to take a deep breath with you! What made it even more painful was the moment he fully realised that Mobius didn’t recognise him—his one friend, the one person who likes him for who he is… and he doesn’t remember him… and then the relief on his face when was in the right place again!

Loki was so panicked about the impending war. For good reason, obviously but it truly shows that Thor: Ragnarok lied. Loki wouldn’t be a bad king, now hear me out—in The Avengers, Thanos had the upper hand. You all remember that one scene where he sort of backtracks and says “It’s too late… it’s too late to stop it…” but can’t join forces with Thor because The Other was watching him? Loki understands the sacrifice for sure and in the first Thor film, when he tried to wipe out Jötunheim, what I believe is that he wanted to prevent the war that Thor himself had started by attacking those Jötuns. Loki’s not about violence and causing pain and destruction, he just got caught in the middle of it several times, and circumstances forced him into choices that were not heroic. We knew that already, of course… but it’s nice to see that reflected in the series. Besides, we don’t need him to be a hero. We just need him to be Loki. 🥰

The jokes were spot-on, not too silly, not out of place, in my opinion, but sprinkled in just right so far. Skin? Also, can we please talk about the warning on the floor that said Spaghettification? Come on! 😂😂😂

Now in that sense, O.B. is indeed brilliant. A lovely and light addition to the serious bureaucracy of the TVA for sure!

I really wasn’t worried about Loki making it back safely, somehow. Let’s face it, they wouldn’t have killed him in the first episode of Season 2. With that being said… I hope for their sake he stays safe at the end too, otherwise, I will hurt a lot of people! 🙂

X5… X5, what are we gonna do with him? I hate him. Of course, I do. He’s got something about him that just makes you want to slap him in the face. 😒

Now there are two questions we immediately ask ourselves, right? Where, or rather, when did Sylvie come from? And who pruned Loki? Was it another Sylvie, or another Loki? Another Mobius? B15? An antagonistic character who realised their wrongs? A new character? A Kang Variant? They’ve definitely left us some loose ends! 🤔

And lastly… it’s absolutely heartbreaking to see how much Loki cares for Sylvie despite what happened at the end of Season 1. She basically betrayed him! For reasons Loki understands, of course, but still… it broke his heart… and hence it broke mine. He was so ready to stop the others from going after her even though he was facing the very gruesome time slipping problem. 😭

If you’ve seen the video I posted earlier, you’ll know that I have already seen Episode 2 as well today. I won’t lose a word about that one until next week though! 😉 All I’m gonna say is that we’re in for a treat. 😏

This has been sitting in my inbox for almost a week because I needed to make a futile effort at organizing my thoughts into something coherent--but this is as organized as they're going to get for now! Thank you so so much for the ask though bc I do love to yell about MHA <3

(Obligatory reminder that I'm watching this show in such a confusing order so if what I'm about to rant about has been addressed before and I'm harping on it unnecessarily I Am Sorry.)

SO. It feels relevant to mention that my sister and I were talking about All Might in the first place because we were talking about MHA Moments That Haunt Us. For me, it's the 'I am not here' sign hanging around the neck of the All Might statue in Kamino Ward after the Paranormal Liberation War. It literally lives in my brain rent-free 24/7 365 days a year, especially with the AM vs AFO fight being relatively fresh in my mind. The reversal of All Might's catchphrase and all it represents hurts, but to display it at the site of his 'last stand' in Kamino? That's brutal.

All Might vs All For One and how that rematch plays out is so so important to the story for so many reasons, but one of them is that the fight itself is a sacrifice. Toshinori gives everything he has, short of his life, to defeat All For One. He gives up his physical strength, his public image as the unbeatable Symbol of Peace, and, effectively his Quirk ("Goodbye, All For One. Goodbye, One For All" haunts my every waking moment, still!)

This battle is also the culmination of years of All Might's life and heroic philosophy (because Toshinori has been both practicing AND preaching self-sacrifice in the name of the greater good since we met him. It's what he thinks a hero does). Kamino is the sacrifice to end all sacrifices, if you will. Yes, he does get to walk away from the fight with AFO, but he walks away irrevocably different, almost unrecognizable. He's forced to totally change his focus and his mindset and his life. Everything he has given up is made literally visible in the deterioration of his body.

But most most importantly, All Might's sacrifice at Kamino was... all for nothing. Even if AM defeated him in that moment, All For One is free less than a year later. The world is in shambles. People are afraid, and their faith in heroes is crumbling. Heroes are afraid, and this time, they have no idealized symbol to rally behind. When Dostoevsky wrote "Your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing," he was talking about All Might btw.

Toshinori gave this fight (and his career, and being All Might) everything he had, and it still wasn't enough. He sacrificed so much of himself, and so much of how he perceived himself and his purpose, and he didn't even save the world. He just bought them time--and not much of it. I think that's why he's so desperate to keep fighting, no matter the cost, no matter what condition he's in--even 'quite literally half-dead.' He can't let Kamino be the Symbol of Peace's final stand, because Kamino was ultimately for nothing. Instead of saving the world, it has been reframed through the sign on the statue as All Might abandoning the world. And ever since then, he's been scrambling to prove that he is still here.

(There's also probably something here about Sir Nighteye telling him that he was going to die. Since Nighteye used his Quirk on him, Toshinori has been anticipating sacrificing his life for good. Knowing that his entire hero career is effectively a fight to the death has probably maximized his self-sacrificial tendencies.)

1. Were you named after anyone?

Nah, my English name is a weird, fairly original one that my parents came up with (so many people pronounce my English name even though it's literally phonic, but I love that it doesn't have a pre-set meaning) and Chinese naming is a whole different thing, where there's not really a concept of naming your kid after someone, and even then it's not like English where you take the same name.

But I will say my Chinese name means "such a beautiful jade", which I really like, and am really happy with, so thanks Mom for that!

2. When was the last time you cried?

When I went to my bi-monthly counselling/ therapy on Friday

3. Do you have kids?

No, I'm 19 lol but I do want some in the future

I have a group of kids, essentially my sister's friends and schoolmates to whom I act as a big sister/mentor figure, I call those kids my children/my ducklings (I say kids but they're 16)

4. What sports do you play/have you played?

I used to do ballet until I pulled my legs and couldn't go on pointe anymore, so I quit in 2020 after fourteen years. And if anyone says dancing isn't a sport I will fight you

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Not really, just occasionally with my sister when we're clearly joking with each other

6. What’s the first thing people notice about you?

Either my naturally wavy/frizzy hair, or me being trilingual (I have a draft ranting about being a polyglot lmao)

Honestly, this chapter was a blast to write. Lloyd, Colette, and Genis as teenagers being goofy and having a good time was so healing. It took me back to when I went to an amusement park with my band class at 16.

The group's wait for Supersonic 2.0 was inspired in part by that trip, and our experience waiting for Millennium Force (front seat PoV at the link!) at Cedar Point. Of course, back in those days we didn't have cell phones, so we were forced to watch a middle-aged couple ahead of us in the queue line make out for the entirety of the three and a half hour wait. Thank goodness these guys have the group chat lol.

Millennium Force was such a marvel when I rode it. It broke all kinds of records so it was super popular even in May, which is when we went (and when Colette's birthday is). I took pity on their queue times though.

I had a great time with Phraidra and Aithra too. I really just wanted a nice family vibe.

Anyway, Colette's doggo is indeed a corgi named Moriah ("Momo")! For some reason any time I give a character a corgi (yes, it's happened more than once) I name it the same thing. I probably need help. I'm not even a corgi enthusiast. It's just...sometimes a corgi fits.

And Presea gets to have a dog, too. I figure in any kind of modern setting they deserve to be able to have that much. Apollo is a terrier mix.

Though, if I'm being 100% honest, I did desperately want to give Presea a minpin. (I mean look........ this is a Creature.)

Colette was definitely teacher's pet, at least when Raine was her teacher. In this story, they mostly know Raine from the two years she was their teacher, but they still see her on occasion because she picks up/drops off Genis sometimes (and they don't live in a huge town, so they might see one another out and about at the store).

Dude this is fucking horrible to me I watched Quackity a lot 😭 In these situations I tend to think like "what could have caused this?" because tbh? I'm always a little denier, I always think "maybe this happened because this or this happened in his life and it was a big misunderstanding", but this? This sucks. I felt the littlest bit of what Dream probably has felt and I can tell you, it's no fucking good. Because when MY best friends started ignoring me, started looking like they didn't want much to do with me aside from frequenting me at school and only if there was no other choice for them then we hanged out, I wanted to rip my hair out, scream and cry and slam my head into the fucking wall. It's not a good feeling. It fucked with me a ton, my mental health got at the lowest it's ever been. And I didn't have TONS of people waiting for me to breathe a word so they could stalk me and go to my house and harass me on the internet every day. I had a lot of friends and my parents supporting me and helping and still, it was bad. Dream has friends and fans supporting him, of course, but he also has a ridiculous amount of people ready to commit literal fucking crimes just because they're slightly pissed at him.

I'm just so damn disappointed man. I really loved Quackity and it hurts knowing that this is probably going to get worse. I hope everyone is ok and if I dare say something, it's take your time. Take a break, mute socials, think about the situation (or don't!), talk with someone about it if you need to. Block tags, block people. Your well being is more important than taking a stance right now and participating in discourse.

Maybe I am still a little delusional, maybe I still hope somewhere that this all was a giant misunderstanding, but still, I think this behaviour is not good, to say the least.

They’re both lying on the dirt floor, around them the walls are beautiful painted murals—  sea creatures, buses, cities, and people—Above , only glass stands between them and a never-ending ocean. 

Everything is a beautiful blue. 

Skye turns to the man beside her. She can’t quite make out what he’s thinking, but for all his rough edges, Skye thinks Yoru isn’t as complicated as he seems. It’s in the furrow of his brows, the difference minuscule enough to seem like nothing. It’s in the slant of his downturned lips. It’s in the look in his eyes. 

Indecision.

She thinks about the bullet she had to extract from his arm and bandage up, of the way he hesitated when he pulled the trigger. She imagines his thoughts are ricocheting endlessly in his brain, trying to make sense of this mirror world so incredibly familiar and… not. Skye understands. She understands because the moment she laid eyes on the majestic whales of this world and heard their mournful song, and when she saw the flowers in the town square curling up against the walls like they were home, she felt the same. 

 They were dooming a world to save their own. 

She doesn’t think of the person he had hesitated to shoot. Or the all-too-familiar freckles and green eyes they had. She doesn’t.

Skye looks away from his messy hair with the gel all but gone, and away from his too-expressive eyes. He still hasn’t looked over at her. 

The endless sea stares back at her, and her heart tightens in her chest. She can hear waves crashing and children laughing and can feel the sand below her feet. She can feel the smoothness of the sunscreen and sweat intermingling on her face. Can feel the smile on her face as she turns to grin at- 

Then she’s on the farm she grew up in. She’s watching as the cows graze, and the way the blades of grass sway and dance in the wind as the sun beams down on them. It’s tranquil and lovely. And -

Then there’s blood on a gloomy day in the city and Ja- 

Then Skye feels her eyes burning as she stares into the abyss of this world they’re killing as she desperately tries to pretend Yoru isn’t madly in love with her. And god what is taking Neon so long to power up the portal and take them back home where Skye can easily pretend she needs no one, because she doesn’t, what she needs is to keep her distance because relying on others, trusting others- 

She refuses to do it again. If she were to lose someone again… If she lost Yoru- 

Oh.

 She loves him too. 

It’s like the glass breaks and sea water comes flooding in because there is no oxygen. And all she can think as she drowns is he should run as far as he can while she swallows up the tide, as she gulps down mournful songs lost at sea. Maybe there’s still time for him to leave and avoid the flood. 

Please don’t say you love me. 

She cuts the silence before he can sink them both. “I’m sure they’re done by now, don’t you reckon?” They ignore the raspy quality of her voice, and the emotion behind it. 

He’s silent for several moments. “Yes.

I suppose so.”

7) in skyes lore she apparently lost someone important to her. Since we don’t know who this someone is, be it family friend or lover, I’ve decided to leave it ambiguous. The beginnings of a name are mentioned. “Ja-“ this could be anyones name.
