300 Followers Design Contest!! [rules below]

Thank you guys so much for the 300 followers! TBH I’m not sure why people have been following me recently due to my lack of content, but I really appreciate it <3

I feel like it’s become a sort of tradition on my blog, so to no one’s surprise, it’s time for another Design Contest!!

The rules are pretty much the same as last time, but for any newcomers or those who need a refresher, you can find them (and the theme picture!) below 👇

(oh also, in your comment to apply make sure to add the code word somewhere in there so I know you read all the instructions! I’ll hide it somewhere in the text ^^)

Rules

You’ll design a pokemon character that somehow related to the theme! You can go as crazy or simplistic as you like, so whatever sounds the most fun to you

Anyone can join! Even if you feel your art skills aren’t great, the contest will be judged on design, not art skill, so feel free to jump in.

You’ll have about two weeks to get your design in (January 7th!), but that’s a really loose deadline. (Code word jump scare! Include the word blue in your comment) I’m always happy to give extensions, just make sure to dm me if you need one

The winner(s) will receive a drawing of their character from me!

All winners will receive a drawing of their character from me! Since my motivation comes and goes I can’t guarantee a certain quality, but you will at least get a colored drawing! We’ll start with First and Second place, and depending on the amount of people who join, I’ll add more.

Welcome to Our Game Development Journey!

We are a young game development studio based in Graz, fueled by creativity and a passion for gaming. Our team consists of three dedicated design students: Hanna, Bastian, and Jay. Together, we are embarking on an exciting journey to bring unique ideas to life!

Our Team Dynamics

In the studio, each member plays a vital role. Jay focuses on forming the ideas that Hanna and Bastian provide into a cohesive vision, handling necessary tasks and guiding projects to ensure everything stays on track. Hanna, with her amazing drawing skills, brings creative concepts to life on paper and screen, infusing projects with stunning visuals. Bastian, the head designer, presents these ideas and sketches in the best way possible, making sure they resonate with the team’s vision.

Tiny Glade

I spent some free time this morning playing Tiny Glade! Today's daily challenge was "Island Fort". This is what I made!

Day 713

Normally when I say I’m playing a game, I have the image in my head of solving a puzzle, running around in an open world or growing plants to sell at market. Yet, playing Tiny Glade, is more like playing with lego, that morphs when you combine it with other lego like it is clay.

The fascinating thing about Tiny Glade is that it’s like solving a puzzle, except the game doesn’t have any puzzles for you to solve. Instead, it’s the puzzle you, yourself, want to solve because you want to make a thing.

When I first started playing Tiny Glade, I didn’t understand how the coding worked nor did I understand how the objects scaled with everything else. This caused me to make a very large building block with very tiny windows, it was not great.

The third time, I was with Were-Ah walking her through what I discovered. This also allowed me to experiment with her on stream as I mixed and matched blocks to figure out how things were put together.

The fourth time onward, I decided I would take a picture (or two) of others in the community, and figure out how they made that work. Because in reality, the basic rules of Tiny Glade are not hard to learn, but it can be hard to understand how you can make something complex from those rules. It’s much easier to see someone else’s results and then reverse engineer it.

Which is how I came up with this project. At the current moment I am laying out the foundations for a little town. It has occurred to me, if I want to make a town it’s easier to make a layout and build on top of that. It’s a lot of work and kind of tedious, but the soundscape and the way the blocks morph make it relaxing.

Also, because I wanted to know if I could, I decided to try and figure out how to make stairs that are complete OSHA violations.

Expectations from you- to be honest you're quite consistent with your blog. Posting pick a pile once in a while, and holding lots of ask games. I think you can keep up this consistency if you can. But also take care of your health and energy, because all these might drain you sometimes.

Is my expectations fulfilled- OF COURSE ✋️ I can't come here often nowadays, but whenever I do I certainly don't get disappointed cause you're always offering something.

How can I improve- hmm, all you do is keep learning. Which is all of us are doing with life going on.

Any messages for me- I miss you and our conversations. I know you've said I can always dm you but I just can't find enough time idk why. So much is going on with life. I wish I could tell you and I will if you'll allow me🫡 anyways lots and lots of love. Please take care of yourself.
