With America's birthday tomorrow, here is one meme focused on my favorite unofficial mouse couple from one of my favorite American-themed movies, An American Tail.

Remember the ending to The Good, The Bad and the Huckleberry Hound when Huck retired as sheriff, married Desert Flower, settled down at a ranch, and had pups of their own?

Well, I'd like to think this happening with Fievel and Cholena years after the events of Fievel Goes West.

In this sense, Cholena and her tribe eventually found a way back to the surface and like the previous New Yorker mice, they traveled way out west, and Cholena reunited with Fievel and Tanya, catching up and getting reacquainted. As years grew by, Fievel and Cholena grow closer and closer to each other, developing new feelings for each other. Eventually, Green River's top lawman mouse and the Native Lenape maiden admit their feelings and decide to marry. Fievel's parents, as well as Tanya and Cholena's father, Chief Wulliso, give their blessing (and Wulliso had no hesitance whatsoever as Fievel was the first surface-dwelling mouse he trusted). Once hitched, the two decided to settle down at a ranch of their own, raising a couple mouselings of their own, telling stories of their father's American tales (see what I did there?) to them, while the new sheriff would be Fievel's deputy, either one of the kid mice from the TV series or a grown-up Yasha (I don't know).

I love to draw very little known characters. So I drew Desert Flower, the Huckleberry Hound's Native American girlfriend in the movie The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound.

There is very little art of it. It is very nice and I appreciate it. So I also include myself and draw her as "my tradition" as a sexy native. I base myself on this Pin Up image because it is one of my favorite styles for many reasons XD :

Speaking of the Cerulean Avenger…

I now have a few more ideas of how this story would go, thanks to watching Date a Live for the past week!

I’m working on how Droop-a-Long will fit into this story. He’ll kinda be like this story’s Shido Itsuka, minus the harem elements, lol. And because he’s going to be this story’s Shido, well, he’s gonna be put through the ringer a bit in this story. But that’s for another post!

@blazing-shadows has been really helpful in creating a few of the ideas for Ricochet and Huck’s beef in this universe, but I had a few ideas of my own. It started because Huck killed Ricochet’s sister, Rose, during a mission, and in retaliation, he killed Huck’s first wife, Clementine, when the hound endangered Mireya, Ric’s last link to Rose. This would fully cement their vitriol and hatred for each other. However, as with most things, Rose’s death and Clementine’s murder weren’t exactly cut and dry. In fact, these were outright planned. I took some inspiration from Honkai, DaL and Star Fox: Assault.

In this universe, Rose and her husband Isaiah lived longer and had a happy marriage, raising Mireya together until she was about 5 years old. She was a close friend of Hokey Wolf, whom she had helped turn his life around, especially once he discovered he had a son, Ding-a-Ling. Unlike most of the people, she knew of the Celestials (this story’s version of Spirits), and had heard of their incredible power—she had initially given Huck his code name, “Avenger”, after witnessing him exacting vengeance on a murderer—but had the belief that they should be regarded as people rather than as enemies or playthings. While Hokey initially shared this belief, Ding-a-Ling’s gruesome death at the hands of a rogue Celestial twisted his mind with grief and it gave him the notion that he could cheat death—he just needed a Celestial’s power to do it. His obsession with both finding the “Celestial of Origin” and to obtain their powers concerned Rose, but he assured her that this was nothing to worry about and he wasn’t doing anything illegal.

Her concerns were heightened when she discovered that Hokey was ordering Huck to kill rogue Celestials in order to harvest their Imperium Crystals—the source of their incredible power—in order to use them to gain enough power to resurrect his son and avenge his death. Even worse, Hokey’s missions were layered in a way that Huck wouldn’t feel bad about doing so, taking advantage of Huck’s desire to bring the guilty to justice and stating that these rogue Celestials were beyond saving. Rose attempted to warn Huck and expose the truth, but not only did Hokey thwart her attempt, but also infused her with an Imperium Crystal in order to forcibly turn her into his personal servant. It backfired horribly when Rose’s body and soul rejected it, causing her to start going berserk.

Her last words to Ricochet—who hadn’t received his powers yet— were to tell her husband and daughter that she loved them.

Her last words to Huck—who had been told of a “failed experiment” going berserk in the labs—was a final request to kill her before she went completely berserk, as she didn’t want to be an accomplice to “that fiend”. With a heavy heart, Huck carried out her request.

And Ricochet, who watched her die, vowed then and there that he would make it his life’s mission to end Huck’s life. He sought power as destructive as Huck’s and would get it from Hokey, who used the same destructive Crystal that had taken Rose’s life to give Ricochet his “soul reaping” ability. While he initially played on the rabbit’s grief and rage, the wolf’s true reason for this was so he could use his power—specifically, if and when Ricochet underwent an Inversion.

Unfortunately for Hokey, both Ricochet and Huckleberry Hound had outside forces to keep both of them stable and from undergoing said Inversions, which pissed him off. So he decided to speed up the process by killing Desert Flower—who Huck met years later and was starting to open his heart towards—and Droop-a-Long Coyote in front of Huck, Ricochet and Drag-a-Long, Droop’s brother. Huck’s Inversion form nearly levels the city and killed the population of Jellystone…which would bring about Yogi’s desire for revenge.

So yeah. You can thank Hokey Wolf for the insanity that Huck and Ricochet go through in this story, folks.

And one more thing. Yesterday, I was scrolling through some Looney Tunes fan art, and I got hit with an idea:

I had a funny idea to make this a Hanna-Barbera/Looney Tunes crossover, with inspiration from Date a Live (and probably taking elements from that Lippy and Hardy story that I was working on). I got to thinking if Bugs Bunny was like Huck and Ricochet, in that he’d be like this world’s version of a Spirit.

The reason I got to thinking that was that his code name would be something badass, like “Warmonger”, inspired by his famous phrase, “Of course you realize, this means war.” In the story itself, he’d probably be close to his canon self—real easygoing and friendly, doesn’t take BS from anybody, and is cool under pressure until someone does something to REALLY piss him off. And then he’ll get his revenge in any way he sees fit.

Warmonger vs the Reaper (Ricochet) would be one heck of a fight. I love this version of Ricochet, but my money’s going on my boy Bugs.

✪: Have they ever let a rare opportunity slip them by?

Of course! Lots of times. For as hopeful and optimistic as he is, there always has been that rare opportunity at him getting something that he’s let slip up just due to either his pride or his poor timing. It really stings him up on the inside and he wish he could change that, but it’s hard for some toons/people to change their self from who they are at the moment into what they wish to be.

💣: Did they ever get caught in a situation because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time?

One too many situations happen to him like this, whether he’s in the studios, or actually out doing the various jobs that you see him in, or actually just and casual moment on the street. Huck is either at the wrong place at the wrong time, the right place at the wrong time, or rarely the wrong place at the right time. One could say he has bad luck with that, but there are wins and losses in that war of his life and he’s not going to back down from the challenge until he has no more resolve left to give, which will be a while before that happens.

💞: What was their first love like?

Huckleberry’s first love? Why, that really depends on the universe as there are moments where his love is actually Clementine (Yogi’s Treasure Hunt), or Desert Flower (The Good, the Bad, and the Huckleberry), or could really be a number of potential significant others. Even at this point in his life, he’s gone through so many of them no matter the universe (Outside of Trio of Triumph, he’s an alien there), that he honestly can’t remember his first love. He remembers what they did, but he just can remember them. No matter how racked his noggin is, it’s like they were just gone from his memory but the trace of them is still there…

Hanna-Barbera Head Dump 1: Into the Honkai-verse

I never did a H-B head dump post here? Huh...you learn something new every day.

Anyhoo, I’ve been playing Honkai Impact like crazy, and I’m kinda sorta hopping back on the H-B stuff I’ve been working on, so naturally, my mind has been going back to my H-B crossover. And if you think that’s the oddest thing you can crossover with Hanna-Barbera, you should check out their actual crossovers. They have one where Fred and Barney meet The Thing. Yes, you read that right.

The trouble I had here was coming up with the male equivalent of a Valkyrie. Some quick research shows that it would most likely be the Einherjar, the slain warriors who are carried by the Valkyries to Valhalla. Since the Honkai verse is about a long drawn out war with the Honkai (spanning three games, if I’m right), especially considering the recent events in the game, I figured this would be a good fit. And some of the H-B characters do die here, though only Top Cat’s mirrors Himeko’s death; I’m trying to make sure that this story isn’t a cut-and-paste crossover with the original game.

The cast is halfway complete, though two characters are kind of evading me: Bronya’s and Seele’s. I’m torn between choosing Boo-Boo or Augie Doggie to fill the role of Bronya, since Augie’s got the smarts, and Boo-Boo occasionally has that snarkiness. Doesn’t help that here, this stand in will have most of Bronya’s original battlesuits and Herrscher form. As for Seele, I’m toying with the idea of maybe having Melissa in this role, though Huck was also a strong contender. Picturing her with a sadistic double side would be pretty interesting.

Touché, of course, had to be Durandal. But unlike the original Durandal, he’s gonna have a lot of battle scars here, and it’ll show.

A lot of series will probably be featured, and like my first major crossover, The Heroes of Time, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, and Scooby-Doo will be featured. While Orbit City, Coolsville, and Bedrock will be featured, only a few of those characters will be featured alongside the main protagonists. The reason for that is because their stories are told in the Chronicles side stories, similar to the actual game where you learn more about the Valks there than you do during the main story.

The battlesuits were difficult, too, but also a lot of fun. Some I lifted from the series each character is based on, while some are taken from the game. And the Herrscher forms were changed around a bit (minus the Herrscher of Reason and the Herrscher of Sentience) due to the character motivations being different here. A lot of H-B characters, including a few of mine and Vulaan Kulaas’ OCs, have original battlesuits, though the ones that are lifted from the game will be marked in bold:

Some thoughts...

So, I’ve been thinking of getting back to the Hanna-Barbera fandom. I’ve had some conversations with some people at my job (who do have some interests in the old stuff, mind you), and the joy I felt while having those conversations kinda rekindled my fondness for H-B. Not quite as extensive as it was a few years ago, but it’s been coming back in spurts. The fact that Boomerang is playing Top Cat, Magilla Gorilla and Huckleberry Hound from today onwards probably helps, too.

So, some of the things I’m thinking of in terms of Hanna-Barbera stuff include (but are not limited to):

Chapter 4 of Mirror, Mirror

Rewriting the final chapter of Blazin’ Trails

Finally completing some old Huckleberry Hound/Desert Flower stories

A new Huckleberry Hound story (might be HuckleFlower, though I’m also thinking of doing a Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear and Top Cat friendship story, with a sprinkle of HuckleFlower there).

Hoping to finally finish that Magilla Gorilla fic I started (and abandoned)

Getting started on that Temporary Truce sequel (and hopefully getting to finish Big City Tabby as well)

And finally, thinking of writing either that Odin Sphere/Hanna-Barbera crossover or doing a story that’s essentially a cross between Hanna-Barbera and Honkai Impact 3rd (which I started playing recently and really enjoyed!)

But yeah. Perhaps a new Hanna-Barbera story is in order to send off 2020. Who knows? 😊

So, about that H-B x Honkai Impact 3rd crossover...

I haven’t had the chance to play the game recently even though the Evangelion event is going on, namely because I have no WiFi at the moment, and I have to rely on unlimited data to update the game 😒 But while I was plotting out my week in my planner, I was hit by several ideas for this. I admit, this crossover is more of a “lol how would this even work” in the same vein as The Heroes of Time, but I can see it growing big like that story did.

A few ideas I had were as follows:

Thinking of having Ricochet and Droop in the roles of Kiana and Mei, respectively. Though there are a few friendship pairs that I would go for as well (Huck and Snag, Quick Draw and Baba Looey, Yogi and Huck), these two seem like they would be a good fit, especially given Ricochet’s speed and his reputation as the fastest shot in the West. I can’t really picture Droop with a sword, lol, but more like a rifle/shotgun, maybe. Plus, I’m biased and I love writing content for these two. Naturally, this would follow the Blazin’ Trails portrayals of their characters, and I’m thinking a few characters from that universe will show up here.

Not quite sure who Bronya’s stand-in would be, though.

I am thinking of having T.C as Himeko, though, as a reference to Yogi’s Treasure Hunt where he was the only one to lead a crew of crazy treasure hunters behind the scenes. Plus, I pictured his reaction to half of the cast becoming Herrschers and it’s nothing short of hilarious.

Other characters that I’ll include will be Touché Turtle, Dum-Dum, Magilla Gorilla, Peter Potamus, So-So, Yogi, Snagglepuss and of course, Huckleberry Hound. Desert Flower will also have a role here, too, as well as Vulaan Kulaas’ OCs, namely Serena and Drag-a-Long.

Mystery Inc. MAY or may not show up here. Velma would be perfect for Fu Hua, in my opinion.

Unlike The Heries of Time, this story kinda follows the game’s story a little more closely, but not beat-by-beat, though. I’ll probably take a few liberties with it, though, especially when some of the Herrschers are revealed.

Those are some of the thoughts I have so far. I may put up a little snippet of one idea on my writing blog, or on FF.net if I polish it enough.
