last thing(s) i googled: Definition of "monsoon". So. In my area of the world it's currently the monsoon season, where generally we get lots of rain and typhoon weather. I've always thought it just meant "the wet season". But throughout May we've had a heat wave in the region and all the official reports kept saying "due to the monsoon season the heat wave is expected to last through September" and I was like, HOW can you still call it the monsoon season it's too hot? So I looked it up. And it just means "weather changes", which although historically in this area was from baseline -> WET, this year it's baseline -> VERY HOT. It rains for 5 minutes and then it's just humid and hot and horrible.

The other day I accidentally took a nap in the middle of the afternoon and woke up feeling like a cooked lobster: boiling to death in my own sweat. I DON'T LIKE THIS YOU ALL :(:(:(

I do like to wear my hair down but actually chances are when i'm anywhere outside of the work office (which has AC), i will have my hair tied up in a ponytail or in a bun because of the freaking hot weather. also, there was no option for ballet flats so i went with the closest looking alternative ^^;;

It suits me. Good for clothes and I like it generally. Sweet, spicy or savoury: Wouldn't like to live without either sweet or spicy. Both are mandatory (though not at the same time, obviously). Last TV show: Just caught up with Slow Horses, finished S3. S3 not as good as the first two. Last film: Night at the Museum. It crops up on my tumblr dash now and then and I'd never seen it. It was okay, not amazing. Last thing i looked up online: How best to farm an obscure item for an achievement in Elder Scrolls Online. Relationship status: Married. Been together 30 years in May, though only married for two thirds of that. Current obsession: That would be Burn Notice. A year and three months in. No one judge my list. I'm a gay depressed ND british person who's really a grandma in the body of a 22 yr old.

1. Downton Abbey

This is my most rewatched show. I can quote it all in my sleep. No more needs to be said.

2. Midsomer Murders

Also heavily rewatched. If it's on on the TV, my friends do a game where they see how long it takes for me to guess what episode it is. Shortest time has been a few seconds, longest time a minute. It has over 22 seasons and I know all the episodes so well.

3. BBC Merlin

What's not to fucking love? Gay, fantasy, swords, humour... perfection. Apart from the last episode... we don't talk about the last episode.

4. Star Trek - The Original Series

This was a big part of my childhood cause my mum is a huge Trekkie, but it was also on the TV every night at 6pm during sixth form. Which became a ritual and an emotional support crutch. Didn't matter what happened during the day - tos would be on the TV at 6pm and everything would be fine.

5. BBC Miranda

I don't need to say anything else apart from: look at the gif. Of course I have an emotional connection to this show.

6. The Vicar of Dibley

Similar to the caption for Miranda... the gif speaks volumes... I also listen to this to go to sleep.

7. The Good Life

Now this is a British sit com from the 70s, based around a man and his wife who live in the posh suburbs of London. One day he decides to quit his corporate job and become self-sufficient, so he and his wife turn their garden into a farm with crops and animals and it's just carnage. They live next door to an uptight posh woman (right in the gif) who's very disapproving and her husband who is Done™ with life. I can't explain it well but it's funny and very entertaining.

8. Dance Moms

Can't believe I'm putting a reality TV show on this list but it's iconic. It's really familiar so I like rewatching random episodes and watching clips on YouTube. I just find it entertaining.

Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin never feels nervous. No, negative, not in a million years. So when he stands out of the office of Admiral Kazansky - the COMPACFLT - in his best suit, his forehead sweaty, he regards his crazy heartbeat as…positively wound up, yeah.

2. Icarus (complete, Top Gun, icemav)

Ice has known the story of Icarus since he was eight. He still remembers the day when his father told him the myth in his stern way.

3. The Black cat (complete, Top Gun, icemav)

After they moved in together, Maverick found a little stray black cat in their backyard and immediately decided to adopt it. Ice just rolled his eyes and said he had no interest in fluffy animals, refusing to pet its head when the cat rubbed against his leg.

4. Plans (complete, Top Gun, icemav)

Maverick never makes plans. He bases his judgment entirely on intuition. He didn't plan anything, excited at the randomness and freedom. He is flying both in the sky and on the ground.

My dearest Faramir, Winter is approaching - I can feel it from the chill in the air and the water. This morning I woke up and found my feet freezing. I have to ask Holdwyn to add logs in the fireplace - can you believe it, my dear? I never feared coldness before.

Writer questions!!!

this is from the weird questions for writers list!

1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting? I write in Verdana! This is a holdover from ff.net where fics were posted in Verdana font. I got in the habit of writing in the same font so I can predict what my fic would look like when published. Also I just prefer writing in sans serif fonts in general, so even now I just default to Verdana.

2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil? Oh dear, I couldn't, not exclusively. I occasionally outline/brainstorm by hand, but I need to flexibility of technology to cut and save my scraps, and rearrange scenes and everything. Also I just type so much faster than I write, and when I have a thought in my head speed is of the essence to capture it before the exact words fade.

But if I had to write anything by hand, it's with pen.

16. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark? I don't really use bookmarks (i usually memorize the page number before i close the book) but a hair clip/pin!

32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you? I covered an example from a poem and a novel when i answered @qserasera's set of questions, so here's an example from a fanfic. It's this passage from @/bendingsignpost's Cooperative Principle (a Johnlock Sherlock BBC fic), specifically the last dialogue John speaks.

“Are you sure you don’t want to try apologising?”

John shakes his head. “I don’t want to be that bloke.”

“Who do you mean, John?”

“The bloke who mucks everything up forty-eight times and then begs for a second chance.” John had been an idiot like that up until uni, at which point another boy was an idiot like that toward him. At which point: never again. It’s incredibly annoying.

At the time, I was having a falling-out with a friend - we went on an overseas trip together and the whole thing was just wrecked with problems from the planning to the actual trip itself. I left the trip feeling very hurt and although my friend apologized I still held a grudge in my heart. I started thinking it was something wrong with me - why couldn't I just forgive him? I was a mess fluctuating between feeling angry with him and feeling angry at myself. Then this fic updated, and I realized: my friend was that bloke. He mucked everything up at least a dozen times and then then begged for a second chance each time. And yes, it was incredibly annoying. And unlike John, who in this scene is speaking to his therapist, my friend will never try to work through his own issues and figure out what went wrong, so he doesn't end up hurting people again.

I gave my friend one last chance, and he mucked things up again. At which point I said - never again. And that was that.

There are a lot of incredible fics with amazingly written lines, but I will always remember that line for the way it impacted my life directly.

I was tagged by @derpinathebrave — Omg, I’ve never been tagged in one of these before. I’m so happy! Thanks for tagging me! :D I also love learning about new music, so this is great, especially as I love pretty much all genres.

1. Guilty - MARINA (I love her! Glad she appeared in this music shuffle game—also an underrated song by her, as I never hear people mention it)

2. Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart - Chris Cornell (I love everything Chris Cornell’s been involved in: Soundgarden, Audioslave, his solo work, etc. I was so sad when I first learned of his suicide a couple years ago)

3. Otherside - Red Hot Chili Peppers (They’re not my favorite band, but I absolutely love this song! The lyrics are very poetic and the song itself is so atmospheric and gloomy. From what I’ve interpreted myself of the lyrics and what I’ve read, it seems to be about heroin addiction. Really gets me in my feels, even though I’ve never experienced substance addiction myself. The song is relatable to a lot of mental issues in general)

4. You Make Me Feel Like It’s Halloween - Muse (My favorite band! Going to see them live later this month! This is from their newest album!)

5. Careless Whisper - Seether (Honestly, I love this song in general, both the original and all the covers. I like this cover in particular!)

6. Te Aviso, Te Anuncio - Shakira (Shakira’s music was actually the first I ever heard when I was a kid. Definite nostalgia factor, although her music is genuinely very good! I prefer the Spanish versions of her songs)

7. Tempest - Deftones (I always enjoy a good metal song, and Deftones releases consistently great music!)

8. One Step Closer - Linkin Park (Love this song when I want to vent out some anger! Another band where I’m sad about the lead singer, Chester Bennington, dying by suicide)
