Derek has so much to lose if he opens up, but he's never stingy with his love even though he was manipulated and used as a child in the name of love. He's willing to do anything for the team and his people, and I don't think I appreciate that enough.

a derek morgan caregiver moodboard, because i think he’d be a fantastic caregiver. headcanons under the cut <3

derek morgan caregiver headcanons:

- he was a huge fan of goosebumps when it came out, so he takes every chance he can to read goosebumps to you, but will immediately stop reading if he sense that you’re getting a little freaked out or squirmy

- he has a ton of 80’s rom-coms on vhs and plays them on a little box tv. he makes popcorn and a pillow/blanket/cardboard fort (depending on what’s available, it’s usually all three though) the fort is set up to surround the tv, and he lets you pick any vhs tape you want to watch. he also has a collection of disney and warner brother vhs tapes for whenever you want to watch a cartoon instead.

- if you fall asleep in the fort, he’ll smile and tuck you in nice and tight, and give you a little kiss/pat on the head (depends on your preference, he will know which one you prefer)

- he takes you to small parks to have picnics and play some football, even if that just means rolling it back and forth on the ground while you babble <3

- when you’re obviously occupying yourself, he’ll sit back and go over case details and paperwork, but will consistently lift his head and remind you that it’s okay to come over and interrupt if you want attention

- he carries a pack of crayons for you 24/7 with a little notebook and a little coloring book (you can choose)

- he has two or three teddy bears just for you that stay at his house, however he always buys you a plushie you look at with a little sparkle in your eye

It turns out it’s not the first time hearing about it, but it does allows him to piece together other references from idle chatter around the office; somewhere in the building, there’s a men’s toilet cubicle with a perfectly cut of hole in it. It’s been a scavenger hunt feature on a few trainee classes over the years, five points for the find.

“You mean the glory hole?” Morgan asks, grinning at him, some weeks after he gained the knowledge from Garcia.

“The what?” Reid asks, feeling his cheeks colouring immediately.

This poem is by m.k.poet on Instagram, and it really reminds me of Derek. He struggled so much in his childhood, and I guess he must have thought this a lot as he kept growing older and understanding the world more.

I love Derek even though he's not someone I write for. He holds the team up in ways I don't think the show highlights enough.
