If Sam wouldn't have dragged him, I guess he would have asked for a telephone number
Every time I’ve seen this episode, I notice that Dean attempts to put his hand in his pocket just when Sam pulls him away.
I’ve always wondered what he was going to do. He was drunk and being flirty. Was he about to start searching for a business card to give the deputy? Was he starting to search for a pen to give the deputy his number?
Dean wasn’t fumbling for his pocket for no reason. He had an intention before being interrupted by Sam.
Supernatural Notes: Dean & Deputy Linus
I just love these interactions, so I giffed the whole thing.
Deputy Linus is so young and fresh and looks like he hasn’t worked much time in this department, but he’s trying to be confident, especially in front of FBI Agents, but it’s a little ashamed because his boss is taking too much time.
So he smiles and gets caught on Dean’s sight because he returns the smile very nicely. His boss comes out and reprimand him, like if it was his mistake when in fact it was his boss’. And Dean notices that from the very first moment, and what does he do? He gets mad, looks at Sam, and Sam knows which little mistake the Sheriff did to piss off his brother. It’s just that Dean has issues with authority.
Dean walks to the Sheriff’s office, but not without offering an empathetic smile to Linus, telling him with just his eyes that “everything is alright, you did a good job.”
It’s such a great detail to see later an outcome to this encounter. And Dean didn’t miss the opportunity to raise Linus’ spirit with a nice comment. Linus is so flustered, and surprised an FBI Agent looks up to him, and Dean is proud to make someone happy, cause no one deserves to be treated as they’re less.
Of course, this is part of Dean’s personality when he’s happy with himself, and when he likes certain people. But in the middle of this interaction he’s under the Yellow Fever influence, which makes his comment to Linus one that maybe he wouldn’t have done if it’s not for the fever.
One can think the fever makes him feel free. And a free Dean is a happy Dean. Which says so much about the fever’s symptoms, considering its main pattern was to provoke fear.
So what I love about this episode and this specific interaction is that I can read it in not just one way. And what we know about Dean in this episode is that he feels fear about things that usually would scare normal people. He feels free to say he doesn’t like his job, and even that it’s not normal to be with his brother 24/7. That he himself knows his own personality is insufferable, and that he doesn’t want to die. It’s just such a wave of personal information that makes me want more and more, and oh, Dean, please keep talking.
But Dean wasn’t infected at the very first interaction with Deputy Linus. And his smile and gesture, and “can’t take my eyes off you” attitude was all Dean’s natural state. So I’m going to think he liked him. He liked him so much, when he got the fever he dared to make the nice comment and flirt with him. Because why he would be afraid of his orientation when it’s not something bad? Bad are monsters, bad is the codependency, bad is repressing what is just healthy, bad is thinking about suicide! Not try to flirt with the cute Deputy. Flirt with the cute Deputy is what Dean would normally do when he likes a person.
Free Dean is one of my favorite Deans. If Sam wouldn’t have dragged him, I guess he would have asked for a telephone number, and got himself a date, cause apparently Linus felt the same about him.

Supernatural (Dean Winchester x Female!Reader)
Yellow Fever
Masterlist
"Agent Tyler, Agent Perry, Agent Kramer, meet Frank O'Brien." the coroner said to me and the boys as he opens up a body bag. "He died of a heart attack, right?" Sam asked. "Three days ago." the coroner said, nodding. "But O'Brien was 44 years old and, according to this, a marathon runner." I said as I look through the man's file.
"Everybody drops dead sooner or later. It's why I got job security." The Coroner said. "Yeah, but Frank kicked it here. Now, just yesterday, two perfectly healthy men bit it in Maumee. All heart attacks, you don't think that's strange?" Dean asked the coroner. "Sounds like Maumee's problem to me." the coroner said then he looks between us.
"Why's the FBI give a damn, anyway?" He asked us. "We just want to see the results of Frank's autopsy." I said. "What autopsy?" the Coroner said and the boys and I share a look. "The one you're gonna do." Dean said.
Moments later, the coroner cuts open the dead body but then he looks between the three of us. "First dead body?" he asked us. "Far from it." Dean said as Sam and I shake our head. "Oh, good. Because these suckers can get pretty ripe." The coroner said then he looks over at Dean.
"Hey, hand me those rib cutters, would you?" he asked. Sam and I take a fortifying breath while Dean picks up the cutters and hands it to the Coroner. The Coroner cuts the ribs open while Sam keeps himself from squirming and I bite my lips when I noticed some sort've marking on Frank's finger.
"Is that from a wedding ring? I didn't think Frank was married." I said. "Ain't my department." the coroner said as he cuts the ribs open. "Any idea how he got these?" Sam asked as he picks up Frank’s arm, which is full of scratches.
"You know what? When you drop dead, you actually tend to drop. Body probably got scraped up when it hit the ground." The coroner said, sounding a bit annoyed of our questioning, then he looks into the body. "Huh!" the coroner said, confused.
"What?" Sam asked. "I-I can't find any blockages in any of the major arteries." The coroner said then he breaks off the heart while Dean tries not to vomit. "Heart looks pretty damn healthy." he said then he hands the heart to Dean. "Hold that a second, would you?" He asked me and I see Sam smirking. Dean glares at him and holds the heart as the Coroner cuts something else in the body.
Then some blood hit me and Sam in the face. "Oh, sorry. Spleen juice." The coroner said, apologetically, and Dean smirks at us.
After that mess, Sam, Dean and I were sitting down in front of Deputy’s desk, waiting. The Deputy smiles at me and Dean just as the Sheriff opens his office door. "Hell's bells, Linus, have you seen my...." He said then he noticed us. "Who are they?" the Sheriff said as the boys and I stand up.
"Federal agents. I, uh...." Linus said but then the Sheriff speaks up. "And you kept them waiting?" he asked him and Linus looks taken aback. "You, you said not to disturb." Linus said then the Sheriff turns to me and the boys. "Come on back, fellas." he said and we walk over to Sheriff’s office but Sheriff stops us.
"Shoes off." He said and the boys and I share a look before we take our shoes off and walk into the office. "Al Britton. Good to meet you." he said as he shakes our hands. "You too." Sam said and the Sheriff gestures for us to sit down. "Thank you." I said as we sit down. Then Britton takes out alcohol gel and start slathering his hands. Dean looks at me and Sam with a weird look on his face.
"Okay. So, what can I do for Uncle Sam?" Britton asked us. "Well, we're looking into the death of Frank O'Brien. We understand some of your men found his body." I said to him. "They did. Me and Frank, we were friends. Hell, we were Gamecocks." Britton said and Dean snickers and I elbow him in the side. Britton gives him a stern look and Dean looks abashed.
"That's our softball team's name." Britton said and Dean nods. "They're majestic animals. I knew Frank since high school. To be honest, I just this morning got up the strength to go see him. Frank was...He was a good man." Britton said. "Yeah. Big heart." I said, a bit of sarcasm in my voice.
"Before he died, did you notice Frank acting strange? Maybe scared of something?" Sam asked Britton. "Oh hell, yeah. Real jumpy." Britton replied. "You know what scared him?" Sam asked him. "No. Wouldn't answer his phone. Finally, I sent some of my boys over to check on him, and well, you know the rest." Britton said then he starts and pours alcohol gel on his hands again. Dean looks over at me and Sam with a look of bewilderment.
"So, why the Feds give a crap? You don't really think there's a case here?" Britton asked us as he slathers the gel on his hands. "No, no. It's probably nothing. Just a heart attack." Dean said as he looks at me and Sam.
Later, we walk out of the office and head to the Impala. "No way that was a heart attack." Dean said. "Definitely no way." I said as Sam nods. "Three victims, all with those same red scratches. All went from jittery to terrified to dead within 48 hours." Sam said. "Something scared them to death." I said and Sam nods.
"All right, so what can do that?" Sam asked. "What can't? Ghosts, vampires, chupacabra? It could be a hundred things." Dean lists off. "Yeah. So, we make a list and start crossing things off." I said. "Alright, who's the last person to see Frank O'Brien alive?" Dean asked. "Uh, his neighbour, Mark Hutchins." Sam said then Dean stops.
"Hang on, hang on." he said, making us stop. "What?" Sam and I asked him then Dean turns to face us. "I don't like the looks of those teenagers down there." he said and Sam and I look around and see some teenagers talking near the Impala. "Let's walk this way." Dean said and he crosses street while Sam and I stand there then we share a perplexed look.
"Tyler, Perry and Kramer. Just like Aerosmith." Mark Hutchins said as we enter his home, which had many animals inside and a snake was around Mark. "Yeah, small world. So, the last time you saw Frank O'Brien?" I said as I notice Dean seeing a big lizard and suddenly faces forward, swallowing.
"Monday, he was watching me from his window. I waved at him, but he just closed the curtains." Mark replied. "Hmm. Did you speak to him recently? Did he seem different? Uh, scared?" Sam asked Mark. "Oh, totally. He was freaking out." Mark said and I watch Dean and notice he looks freaked out.
"Do you know, uh..do you know what scared him?" Dean asked. "Well, yeah, witches." Mark replied. "Witches?" Sam said then he, Dean and I look at each other. "Like...?" I asked. "Well, Wizard of Oz was on tv the other night, right? And he said that green bitch was totally out to get him." Mark said and I raise an eyebrow at this.
"Anything else scare him?" I asked him. "Everything else scared him. Al-Qaeda, ferrets, artificial sweetener. Those pez dispensers with their dead little eyes. Lots of stuff." Mark said as I notice Dean looking around again at the animals inside the aquariums.
"So, tell me. What was Frank like?" Sam asked Mark. "I mean, he's dead, you know? I-I don't want to hammer him but, he got better." Mark said. "He got better?" I asked, confused. "Well, in high school he was, he was a dick." Mark said. "A dick?" Sam and I asked. "Like a bully. I mean, he probably taped half the town's butt cheeks together..." Mark said and Dean snickers. "Mine included." Mark added and Dean's smile disappears.
"So he pissed a lot of people off. You think anyone would have wanted to get revenge?" Dean asked and Mark looks at him, confused. "Well, I don't...Frank had a heart attack, right?" Mark said. "Just answer the question, sir." Sam said and Mark thinks for a moment.
"No, I don't think so. Like I said, he got better. And after what happened to his wife." he said and this peaks my interest. "His wife? So he was married." I said and Mark nods. "She died about 20 years ago. Frank was really broken up about it." he said and Mark looks over at Dean.
"Don't be scared of Donny. He's a sweetheart." Mark said to Dean as he pets the snake around him. "It's Marie you got to look out for." Mark said as he nods to couch. "She smells fear." He said and Dean and I look between us and see an Albino snake creeping up from behind the couch. Dean gasps and stays very still while it crawls down his lap while I bit back a scream.
Dean and I were sitting in the Impala, after looking up about Frank's wife, when I notice him scratching his left arm. "You okay?" I asked him and he looks over at me. "Yeah...I'm fine." He said, but his voice was a bit shaky like he was nervous. "Dean, you sure you're okay? You've been acting strange lately." I said but before Dean could respond, Sam climbs into the backseat of the car.
"Hey. Any luck at the county clerk's office?" he asked us. "I'm not sure I'd call it luck. Frank's wife, Jessie, was a manic-depressive. She went off her meds back in '88 and vanished. They found her two weeks later, three towns over. Strung up in her motel room, suicide." Dean explains.
"Any chance Frank helped her along to the other side?" Sam asked. "No, Frank was working the swing shift when she disappeared. Airtight alibi." I tell him as Dean turns on car.
"How was Frank's pad?" Dean asked Sam. "Clean. Searched it top to bottom. No EMF, no hex bags, no sulfur." Sam replied. "So probably no ghosts, no witches, no demons." I said and Sam scoffs at this. "3 down and 97 to go." Dean said. "Yeah." Sam said and I noticed how slow Dean was driving.
"Dean, you're going 20." I said and he turns to me. "And?" he asked. "That's the speed limit." I pointed out. "What? Safety's a crime now?" Dean asked and he drives through intersection, past our hotel.
"Dude, where are you going? That was our hotel." Sam said to him. "Sam, I'm not gonna make a left-hand turn into oncoming traffic. I'm not suicidal." Dean said and I look over at Sam then both of us look over at Dean, confused.
"Did I just say that? That was kind of weird." Dean said as he shakes his head then we hear a noise. "Do you hear something?" I asked and I look over and see Sam taking out the EMF meter, moves it from and to Dean where it makes a sound. "Am I haunted? Am I haunted?!" Dean asked, panicked, as Sam and I exchange a look.
Later, I was standing outside of the Impala, leaning against it, while Sam was on the phone, talking to Bobby. Dean had music blasting from the Impala speakers and I look over and see Dean lying on the front seat doing air drums to Eye of the Tiger.
Sam comes up to us then watches Dean for a moment before he looks over at me. I shrug at this and then Sam bangs on the roof of the car, scaring Dean as he sits up. "Dude." Dean shouts at him and Sam chuckles as Dean gets out of the car.
"Look at this." Dean said and he shows scratches on his arm. "I just talked to Bobby." Sam said as he hands a box of donuts to Dean. "And?" Dean asked as he smells the box of donuts and throws into car. I give Dean a perplexed look as normally he would be tearing into those donuts, acting like he hadn't eating in years.
"Um, well, you're not gonna like it." Sam said. "What?" Dean and I asked. "It's ghost sickness." Sam said. "Ghost sickness?" Dean asked. "What the hell is ghost sickness?" I asked, confused but also curious.
"Okay. Some cultures believe that certain spirits can infect the living with a disease, which is why they stopped displaying bodies in houses and started taking them off to funeral homes." Sam explains. "Okay, get to the good stuff." Dean said.
"Symptoms are you get anxious...Then scared, then really scared, then your heart gives out." Sam explained and I could see Dean's face of shock but a bit of confusion. "Sound familiar?" Sam asked him. "Yeah, but Sam, we haven't seen a ghost in weeks." I said.
"Well, I doubt Dean caught it from a ghost. Look, once a spirit infects that first person, Ghost sickness can spread like any sickness through a cough, a handshake, whatever. It's like the flu. Now, Frank O'Brien was the first to die, which means he was probably the first infected. Patient zero." Sam said. "Our very own outbreak monkey." Dean grumbles, sarcastically.
"Right. Get this, Frank was in Maumee over the weekend. Softball tournament. Which is where he must have infected the other two victims." Sam said. "Were they gamecocks?" I asked. "Cornjerkers." said Sam.
"So, ghosts infected Frank. He passed it on to the other guys and I got it from his corpse?" Dean asked. "Right." Sam said. "So now what, I have 48 hours before I go insane and my heart stops?" Dean asked, a bit panicked. "More like 24." Sam corrected. "Super." Dean grumbles but I furrow my brow.
"But, why him? Why not you or me? I mean, we got hit with the spleen juice." I said to Sam. "Yeah, um, you see Bobby and I have a theory about that too. Turns out all three victims shared a certain, uh, personality type. Frank was a bully. The other two victims, one was a vice principal, the other was a bouncer." Sam said. "Okay." Dean and I said.
"Basically, they were all dicks." Sam said and Dean gives him a look. "So you're saying I'm a dick?" He asked Sam. "No, no, no. It's not just that. All three victims used fear as a weapon, and now this disease is just returning the favor." Sam said. "I don't scare people." Dean said, a bit offended.
"Dean, all we do is scare people." I said, exasperated. "Okay, well then, you and Sam are dicks too." Dean said. "Apparently, I'm not." Sam said. "Whatchu' talking about? I'm an absolute angel." I said and Dean snorts at this. "Yeah, you're something." He mutters and I stick my tongue out at him.
"Whatever. How do we stop it?" Dean asked Sam. "We gank the ghost that started all this. We do that, the disease should clear up." Sam said. "You thinking Frank's wife?" I asked Sam and he shrugs. "Who knows why she killed herself, you know?" he said then he looks over at Dean.
"Hey, what are you doing waiting out here, anyway?" he asked and I sighed. "He's now scared of heights. I've tried to get him to come inside and he argued." I said. "Hey, our rooms on the fourth floor. That's really high!" Dean said, defensively, and I gesture towards Dean to Sam as if to say See what I mean?
"I'll see if I can move us down to the first." Sam said and Dean sighs with relief. "Thanks." he said. "Sure." Sam said as he goes to the front desk of the hotel and Dean climbs into the Impala and looks at donuts.
"Hey..." I said as I look through the window of the car. He turns to look at me and I give a sympathetic look to him. "We'll figure this out." I said and he gives a small nod. "Yeah, we will." He said then he turns his head and looks down. "I've missed this." He said.
"What?" I asked and he looks back at me. "Us. Having a decent conversation. We didn't really talk much since that shapeshifter vampire wannabe fiasco." Dean said and I nod back. "Well...we've been so busy lately, we just haven't had really anytime alone." I said as he looks around a bit. "I'm really good at this apology thing, but I do feel bad about our argument. I couldn't imagine it being one of our last conversations when I found out you were taken and were about to be killed." Dean said. "Awww, you do care." I said in a fake cheery voice and he scoffs.
Dean kept looking around, like he was afraid someone would come up. "Oh, don't worry, honey. I'll protect you." I said then I lean in and kiss the side of his head. "Shut up." He grumbles and I giggle. "Oh, you love me." I said, smiling. “I’m starting to have second thoughts now.” he said and I laugh. “Nope, can’t get rid of me that easily, Winchester.” I said as Sam comes back over to us.
"Well...that was a bust." I tell Sam as we make our way back to the hotel, later that day. "Yeah..." Sam said. "So...what now?" I asked him as we enter the room and see a broken clock on floor. I look around and see Dean on the sofa, drinking beer.
"Everything all right?" I asked him. "Oh, yeah. Just peachy." he said, sarcastically. "Find anything?" he asked us. "Yeah, Jessie O'Brien's body was cremated, so I'm pretty sure she is not our ghost." Sam said and I notice Dean picking at the scratches on his arm. "Hey, quit picking at that." I said and slap his hand and he looks up at me, like a child that had been caught.
"How you feeling?" I asked him. "Awesome. It's nice to have my head on the chopping block again. I almost forgot what that feels like." he said, sarcastically. "Yeah." Sam said. "It's freaking delightful." grumbles Dean.
"We'll keep looking." I assure and Dean starts to cough. "You okay?" Sam asked him and then Dean starts to choke. "Hey!" Sam said, worried, as Dean goes over to the sink. "Dean." I said, worried and fearfully, as I run up to his left side and place my left hand on his shoulder and my right hand runs up and down his back.
Dean begins gagging over the sink where he spits out a wood chip. Sam and I stare at this in shock as Dean recovers. "We've been completely ignoring the biggest clue we have, you." Sam tells him. "I don't want to be a clue." Dean groans.
"The abrasions, this, the disease, it's trying to tell us something." Sam said and I look over at him. "Tell us what, wood chips?" I asked, confused. "Exactly." Sam said and Dean and I stare at him.
Later, Sam takes us to a lumber mill and I could see Dean looking at the mill, apprehensively. "I'm not going in there." he said, fearfully. "Dean, c'mon. You'll be fine." I said and he takes a drink of whiskey. "Let's do this." he said and we get out of the car.
"It is a little spooky, isn't it?" Dean notes as Sam hands him a gun. "Oh, I'm not carrying that. It could go off. I'll man the flashlight." Dean said and Sam sighs at this. "You do that." I said as I hand Dean the flashlight.
We walk around the mill when the EMF goes off. "EMF's not gonna work with me around, is it?" Dean asked. "You don't say." Sam mutters and I shake my head. "Come on." I said as we walk deeper into the mill.
"Wait..." Sam said, which startles Dean, and he picks up an envelope. "To Frank. Love, Jessie." He reads then opens it and see something inside of it. "Frank O'Brien's ring." He said.
"What the hell was Frank doing here?" I asked him. "No idea." Sam said and we walk into a room full of lockers where we hear rustling. We cautiously walk up to the locker we hear the rustling. Sam and I share a look then i look over at Dean, who looked scared. Sam opens a locker and Dean screams after being startled by a cat.
Sam and I stare at him until Dean stops screaming and catches his breath. "That was scary!" he said and Sam shakes his head before he walks away. I walk up to Dean and pat his shoulder as I walk off. "C'mon, Jamie Lee Curtis." I teased as we walk to a different part of the room.
I go to another locker and found an ID card inside of it. I puck it up and read it. "Luther Garland." I said as I turn to the boys and show it while Dean saw something. "Hey, this is uh...this is Frank's wife." He said as he gestures for us to come of and Sam and I stand next to him to see a drawing on the table.
"Plot thickens." Sam mutters. "Yeah, but into what?" Dean said before he tears off the drawing and a machine turn on. Looking around, Dean sees something in the corner. Sam and I look at Dean and see him looking behind us, Sam and I turn around and see the same thing.
"Hey!" Sam and I shout and we turn around and see Dean running out the mill. We shoot the apparition and then go after Dean, who ends up hiding behind the Impala taking another drink. "Guess we got the right place." I said.
"This is the Garland file." Linus tells me and Sam as he hands a folder to us. Then he looks over out shoulder. "Is he...drunk?" He asked as he nods behind us and I turn and see Dean swaying back and forth. "No." I replied as Sam reads the file.
"Deputy, according to this, Luther Garland's cause of death was physical trauma. What does that mean?" Sam asked him. "The guy died 20 years ago, before my time. Sorry." Linus said. "Then can we talk to the sheriff?" I asked him. "Um, he's out sick today." Linus replied. "Well, if you see him, will you have him call us? We're staying at the Bluebird." Sam said then he holds up the file.
"Mind if I take this?" He asked and Linus shakes his head. "Know what? You're awesome." Dean said to Linus, who looked confused. "Thanks. Um, y-you too, I guess." he said and we leave.
We walk inside an assistant living building when Dean begins to speak. "This isn't gonna work. Come on, these badges are fake. What if we get busted? We could go to jail." he said, panicked, and then a resident walks past us and startles Dean, I turn to him.
"Dean, shh! Calm down. Deep breath, okay?" I said to him, calmly, and Dean takes a deep breath. "There. You feel better?" I asked him and Dean shakes his head no. "Just come on." I said to him and he begins to scratch his arm again. "Don't scratch." I said, sounding like a parent disciplining their child.
Eventually, we come up to an older man and Sam walks up to him and introduces us. "Mr. Garland." Sam said and the man looks over at us. "Hi uh, I'm Agent Tyler. This is Agent Perry and Agent Kramer, FBI. We'd like to ask you a few questions about your brother Luther." He said as he gestures to me and Dean.
"Let me see some I.D." Mr Garland said. "Certainly." Sam said and we show Mr Garland our badges. "Those are real, obviously. I mean, who would pretend to be an FBI agent, huh? That's just nutty." Dean said and I elbow him. "Sorry, he's new." I assured Mr Garland as he looked over at Dean, suspiciously.
After a moment, Mr Garland looks at the badges then hands them back. "What do you want to know?" he asked us. "Uh, well...according to this, your brother Luther died of physical trauma." I said and Mr. Garland scoffs. "You don't agree." Sam stated. "No, I don't." Mr Garland said, firmly.
"Well, then, what would you call it?" I asked him. "Don't matter what an old man thinks." Mr Garland said. "Mr. Garland. We're just trying to get the truth on your brother. Please." Sam pleads and Mr Garland considers this then begins to explain.
"Everybody was scared of Luther. They called him a monster. He was too big, too mean-looking. Just too different. Didn't matter he was the kindest man I ever knew. Didn't matter he'd never hurt no one. A lot of people failed Luther. I was one of them. I was a widower with three young 'uns. And I told myself there was nothing I could do." Mr Garland said.
"Mr. Garland, um...do you recognize this woman?" I asked him as I hold up the drawing of Jessie. "It's Jessie O'Brien. Her man, Frank, killed Luther." Mr Garland said.
"How do you know that?" Sam asked him. Everybody knows. They just don't talk about it. Jessie was a receptionist at the mill. She was always real nice to Luther, and he had a crush on her. But Frank didn't like it. And when Jessie went missing, Frank was sure that Luther had done something to her. Turns out the old gal killed herself, but Frank didn't know that. They found Luther with a chain wrapped around his neck. He was dragged up and down the stretch outside that plant till he was past dead." Mr Garland explained as the boys and I listen, I frown a bit at this.
"And O'Brien was never arrested?" Dean asked him. "I screamed to every cop in town. They didn't want to look into Frank. He was a pillar of the community. My brother was just the town freak." Mr Garland replied. "You must have hated Frank O'Brien." said Sam and Mr Garland shakes a bit. "I did for a long time, but life's too short for hate, son. And frank wasn't thinking straight. His wife had vanished, he was terrified. A damn shame he had to put Luther through the same, but...that's fear. It spreads and spreads." he said and the boys and I exchange a look.
"Now we know what these are, road rash." Dean said as he holds up his arm and we head to the Impala. "And I'm guessing Luther swallowed some wood chips when he was being dragged down that road." I added. "Makes sense. You're experiencing his death in slow motion." Sam said to Dean. "Yeah well, not slow enough, huh? Say we burn some bones and get me healthy." said Dean.
"Dean, it won't be that easy." I said. "No, no, it'll be that easy. Why wouldn't it be that easy?" Dean asked. "Luther was road-hauled. His body was ripped to pieces. He was probably scattered all over that road. There's no way we're gonna find all the remains." Sam explained. "You're kidding me." Dean said, disbelieving, and he looked angry about this.
"Look, we'll just have to figure something else out." I try to assure him. "You know what? Screw this." Dean said and he starts to walk away. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Dean." Sam and I said as he go over to him.
"Come on. No, I mean, come on, guys. What are we doing?!" Dean asked us, in a shaking scared voice. "We're hunting a ghost." Sam said. "A ghost, exactly! Who does that?" Dean asked, panicked. "Us." I said. "Us? Right. And that guys, that is exactly why our lives suck. I mean, come on, we hunt monsters! What the hell?!" Dean exclaims and Sam and I share worried look.
"I mean, normal people, they see a monster, and they run. But not us, no, no, no, we -- we search out things that want to kill us. Yeah? Huh? Or eat us! You know who does that? Crazy people! We...are insane! You know, and then there's the bad diner food and then the skeevy motel rooms and then the truck-stop waitress with the bizarre rash. I mean, who wants this life, guys? Huh? Seriously? Do you two actually like being stuck in a car with me eight hours a day, every single day? I don't think so! I mean, I drive too fast. And I listen to the same five albums over and over and over again, a-and I sing along. I'm annoying, I know that. And you, Sam --you're gassy! You eat half a burrito, and you get toxic!" Dean said and I look over at Sam.
"He's got you there, Sam." I said. "I mean, you know what?" Dean said and he tosses Sam the keys. "You can forget it." he said and he starts to walk away. "Whoa, Dean. where are you going?" I asked him then he turns to us and points at us.
"Stay away from me guys, okay? Cause I am done with it. I'm done with the monsters and -- and -- and the hellhounds and the ghost sickness and the damn apocalypse. I'm out. I'm done. Quit." he said and he walks away.
I turn to Sam, beyond worried. "Sam...we gotta do something." I said and he nods as he pulls out his phone. "I'm calling Bobby." He said as he dials a number then puts it to his ear while I place my hand over my face, holding back my tears.
*3rd Person POV*
Dean was sitting in the hotel room, anxiously, when the door opens and (y/n) walks in. "We looked everywhere for you, Dean. How the hell did you get here?" she asked him. "Ran." Dean said, like it was the most obvious thing. (y/n) sighs and goes to sit next to him.
"What do we do now? I got less than four hours on the clock. I'm gonna die, (y/n)." He said, his voice full of tears, as (y/n) looks ahead of herself. "Yeah, you are." she said and Dean looks puzzled. "You're going back." she said. "Back?" Dean asked, his eyebrow raised.
"Downstairs Dean, hell. It's about damn time, too. Truth is..." (y/n) said then she turns to Dean with yellow-eyes. "...You've been a real pain in my ass." She said and Dean stares at her beyond, terrified, then she throws Dean against wall with a hand gesture.
"No! You get out of my girlfriend, you evil son of a bitch!" Dean yells. "No one's possessing me, Dean. This is what I'm going to become. This is what Sam's going to become. This is what we want to become. There's nothing you can do about it." (Y/n) growled and she starts to choke Dean.
But a second later, the hallucination disappeared and (y/n) was still standing in front of him but she wasn't choking him. She had a look of concern on her face as she had a hand on his chest.
"Hey, hey, hey, Dean." she said, worried, just as Sam comes in. "Hey, Dean. Dean. Dean." (y/n) said again as Dean coughs and regains his breathing.
*(y/n)'s POV*
Bout an hour or two later, Sam and I were sitting on the Impala, at the Lumber Mill, as a car drives up. The car shuts off and Bobby gets out of the car. "Howdy, kids." Bobby said. "Hey, Bobby. Thanks for coming so quick." Sam said as he shakes Bobby's hand and I go and hug him.
"Where's Dean?" Bobby asked us. "Uh, home sick." I replied and give Bobby a knowing look then he nods. "So, have his hallucinations started yet?" Bobby asked. "Yeah, a few hours ago." Sam replied.
"How we doing on time?" Bobby asked us. "We saw the coroner about 8:00 a.m. Monday morning, so, uh...just under two hours." I said and Bobby shakes his head. "What about you? You find anything?" Sam asked Bobby. "This uh, enencyclopedia of spirits dates to the Edo period." Bobby said as he gives me a book. I look it over and see it was written in Japanese.
"You can read Japanese?" I asked Bobby and he answers in Japanese. "Guess so, show-off." I retort and Sam laughs. "Anyway, this book lists a kind of ghost that could be our guy. It uh, infects people with fear. It's called a Buru Buru." Bobby replied.
"It say how to kill it?" Sam asked. "Same as usual. Burn the remains." Bobby replied and I sighed. "Wonderful. Uh...is there a Plan B?" Sam asked. "Well, the Buru Buru is born of fear. Hell, it is fear. And the lore says we can kill it with fear." Bobby said and I raise an eyebrow at this.
"So we have to scare a ghost to death?" I asked him. "Pretty much." Bobby replied, nodding. "How the hell we gonna do that?" Sam asked and I think then I get an idea. "Aw, crap." I said and they look over at me. "What?" They asked me. "I think I know what we gotta do...and you boys aren't gonna like it." I said as they give me a look
Minutes later, I call up Dean's phone and it rang only a couple of times before Dean answers. "Hey." He said. "Hey! So, uh, just ride out the trip, okay? You're -- you're gonna be fine. We got a plan." I assure him. "What is it?" Dean asked me. "Uh, just a good plan, all right? Hang in there." I tell him and I hang up.
"This is a terrible plan." Bobby said. "Yeah, tell me about it." Sam said. "I know I said, scare the ghost to death but this?" Bobby said and I turn to him. "Hey, you got a better idea, I'm listening." I said but Bobby doesn't answer.
3rd Person POV*
Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Dean starts to hear barking then the door rattles, breaking off its hinges. Dean turns and sees Britton had entered the room.
"Sheriff?" he asked then he notices the gun in Britton’s hand. "What are you doing?" Dean asked him, confused. "Why are you looking into Luther Garland's death?" Britton asked, angrily and panicked. Then Dean sees blood on the Sheriff’s right arm. "Hey, hey, you're -- you're sick. You're sick. You're sick, all right? Just -- just like me, okay? You got to relax." Dean tried to explain but Britton hits him.
"Frank O'Brien was my friend. So he made a mistake. So I didn't bust him. So what? And you're gonna bring me down over that?! No, sir." Britton exclaims and he points gun at Dean but Dean swats it away and they began to fight.
They punch and throw each other around until Britton starts to hyperventilate. "Get away from me!" he shouts to Dean as he falls on his back to the ground and Dean steps away from him.
"Al, you got to calm down!" Dean tries to assure but then Britton clutches his chest, he's having a heart attack. "Step back!" Britton shouts as he clutches his chest and screams out in pain until he goes limp, leaving Dean staring at him in utter fear.
*(y/n)'s POV*
Later, Sam and I enter the mill and look around for a few moments but there was no sign of Luther. "Any luck?" Bobby asked us through the walkie-talkie. "I don't know what's wrong, Bobby. Last time he came right at us." I said and Sam nods. "Yeah...It's almost like he's, uh...like he's scared." he said then we exchange a look then Sam puts down shotgun.
"So now what?" Bobby asked. "I guess we got to make him angry." I said then Sam steps up. "Hey, Luther!" he shouts as we start to tear up the drawings, that were still hanging up, until the machines turn on. "Come on, Luther! Where the hell are you? What are you waiting for?" Sam shouts then we turn around and see Luther.
He charges at us and we began to fight him. We lure him to the spot we need him in until he backhand me, making me fly across the room. Dazed, I shake my head and see Luther attacking Sam.
I raise my hand, making the chain rise up on its own and gesture to make the chain wrap around Luther’s neck. "Bobby, punch it!" I shout into the walkie-talkie and I hear the roar of the engine and Luther was pulled backwards. Sam and I run out and see his spirit being dragged across the road by the Impala until Luther completely disappears.
I sighed with relief then hug Sam as I see Bobby stop the car and look out of the window at us.
*3rd Person POV
Meanwhile, Dean was sitting at the hotel, trying to stay calm, until he hears barking. He looks down at his watch, wondering how long this plan (y/n) told him would take when he sees something on the floor. He picks it up and sees it’s the Bible.
"Hi, Dean." A little girl voice greets and he turns and sees a small blonde girl in a white dress, Lilith. "Huh, no! No!" he said, panicked, as he stands up. "Yes! It's me, Lilith." the girl said, excitedly, then she embraces Dean.
"Oh, I missed you so much. It's time to go back now." she said and Dean moves away from her. "You – you are not real!" He said. "What's the matter, Dean? Don't you remember all the fun you had down there? You do remember. 4 months is like 40 years in hell. Like doggy years. And you remember every second." she said as Dean continues to backwards from her until he falls to the floor.
"You are not real." he said as he clutches his chest. "It doesn't matter. You're still gonna die. You're still gonna burn." She said, smiling. "Why me? Why'd I get infected?" Dean asked. "Silly goose. You know why, Dean. Listen to your heart." she said.
"Whu...?" he asked. "Baboom, baboom, baboom, baboom." Lilith taunts as she hits her fists against her leg. Everytime she said baboom, Dean's heart would start to beat harder and he didn't know which heartbeat would be his last. He tries to stay calm but hearing Lilith's taunts and his heart beating against his chest and ears, he didn't know how much longer he had until, suddenly, it all stopped.
He gasped then looked around to see no Lilith and his heartbeat was back to normal. And that's when he realized whatever (y/n) and Sam did, it worked.
*(y/n)'s POV*
"So you guys road-hauled a ghost with a chain?" Dean asked us as we stood somewhere outside of the town with Bobby. "Iron chain etched with spell work." Sam said. "Hmm, that's a new one." Dean said, impressed. "It was what he was most afraid of. It was pretty brutal, though." I said and Dean shrugs a bit.
"On the upside, I'm still alive, so uh, go team!" He said as he holds up his bottle of beer. "Yeah." Sam said, chuckling a bit. "How you feeling, by the way?" I asked Dean. "Fine." Dean replied.
"You sure, Dean? 'Cause this line of work can get awful scary." Bobby said. "I'm fine. You want to go hunting? I'll hunt. I'll kill anything." said Dean and Bobby smiles. "Awwww, he's adorable." he teases and we laugh.
"I got to get out of here. You kids drive safe." Bobby said as he goes to his car. "You too, Bobby." Sam said. "Hey, thanks." I shout after him as Bobby gets into his car and drives off.
"So uh...so, what did you see? Near the end, I mean." Sam asked Dean after a moment of silence. "Oh, besides a cop beating my ass?" Dean asked and I roll my eyes. "Seriously." I said and Dean looks between us for a moment, he had this look of he wanted to say something but was afraid to.
Before I could ask him, he said. "Howler monkeys. Whole roomful of them. Those things creep the hell out of me." Sam rolls his eyes and I shake my head. "Right." I said. "No, just the usual stuff, guys. Nothing I can’t handle." he said and he takes a sip of his beer but I still had a feeling Dean was hiding something from us.
But I know how he is with revealing his feelings and thoughts so I don't push it...for now at least.
Outtake
(y/n) was leaning against the front driver side wheel of the Impala, her arms across her chest as Eye of the Tiger begins to play. Everytime the drum beat comes on, Dean's hands would come up to do air drums with the beat. The drums stop as the music continues.
Rising up, back on the street
Dean rises up in his seat as he lipsyncs this line and (y/n) face-palms at this as he continues.
Did my time, took my chances
He pulls his upper body through the window then sits on the windowsill of the car door, still lip-syncing.
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
He bobs his head and does a bit of a dance while (y/n) runs her hand down to cover her mouth then looks up at Dean as he points outwards and moves his arm across the air, like he was pointing at everyone in sight.
Then he goes and scratches his left arm, making (y/n), Sam, the Author and many readers laugh, as he continues with his lip-syncing.
So many times it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
He taps at his chest and at the word glory he points upwards then he gets up on the roof of the Impala and sits on top of it. Then (y/n) removes her hand off of her face then goes to sit on the hood of the car.
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
Dean pops the collar of his outter shirt as he bobs his head to the beat and lipsyncs along. (Y/n) then pulls her legs up and pull them close to her chest as she watches him.
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Dean made his game face, or glare or whatever you call it, as he stares at (y/n) then points to his eyes with his left hand pointer and middle finger then points at her as he lipsyncs those lines. All the while, Sam, the Author and the readers continue their laugh and (y/n) sticks her tongue out at Dean.
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
Dean lipsyncs as he raises both his arms up and points to the sky. Then he brings his right leg up and started to act like it was a guitar.
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
Then he lowers his leg and that's when (y/n) stands up on the hood, leans over and grabs his right hand. He smiles and slowly starts to stand up as the two began to lipsync the last lyric together.
And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger
The duo raised their joined hand as they act like they were holding the note then when they were done, Sam, the Author and the readers cheer. Dean and (y/n) smile then he jumps off of the roof then turns around to her and holds his arms out to her.
She places her hands on his shoulders and he helps her down but only set her feet on the ground for a split second before he starts to carry her bridal style. (Y/n) let's out a surprised squeal as he walks off with her in his arms as everyone cheers and laughs.
(I know that last part is an outtake on the show but I couldn't help myself. I forgot how funny it was and I was like, I gotta add this. So I hope you guys enjoyed!)

The three Winchesters are stood in a morgue dressed as agents. The coroner zips the body bag open while addressing the three.
"Agent Kramer, Agent Tyler, Agent Perry, meet Frank O'Brien." He says.
"He died of a heart attack, right?" Sam asks, looking up from the body to the coroner.
"Three days ago."
"But O'Brien was 44 years old and, according to this a marathon runner." Y/N says, gesturing to the folder in her hand.
"Everybody drops dead sooner or later. It's why I got job security." The coroner says.
"Yeah, but Frank kicked it here." Dean says. "Now, just yesterday, two perfectly healthy men bit it in Maumee. All heart attacks, you don't think that's strange?"
"Sounds like Maumee's problem to me. Why's the FBI give a damn, anyway?" The coroner asks.
"We just want to see the results of Frank's autopsy." Dean says.
"What autopsy?" The coroner asks.
"The one you're gonna do" Y/N replies, smiling at him. Minutes later the four are decked out in scrubs and aprons. The siblings watch as the coroner uses a scalpel to cut open the body's chest.
"First dead body?" He asks, giving them a side glance.
"Far from it" Y/N says with her arms crossed. Sam however tries his best to not squirm as much while Dean looks slightly pale, but none the less stable.
"Oh, good. Because these suckers can get pretty ripe. Hey, hand me those rib cutters, would you?" The coroner asks, gesturing his head to besides Y/N. Sam takes a fortifying breath while Y/N picks up the cutters and hands it to the coroner, who uses them 'as they are called' to open the ribs.
"Is that from a wedding ring?" Dean asks, placing his hand on the body's hand to look at its hand "I didn't think Frank was married."
"Ain't my department." The coroner says, continuing to look through the body. His gaze focused on it.
"Any idea how he got these?" Sam asks, holding up Frank's arms which is full of scratches.
"You know what?" The coroner questions "When you drop dead, you actually tend to drop. Body probably got scraped up when it hit the ground." He stops what he was doing "Huh!"
"What?" Y/N asks.
"I-I can't find any blockages in any of the major arteries." He replies. He puts his hand back into the body and a loud crack surround them as he breaks off the heart while Y/N tries not to vomit "Heart looks pretty damn healthy." The coroner hands the heart to Y/N. "Hold that a second, would you?" Y/N does so and Dean turns his head to Y/N, smirking. She glares at her. The coroner begins to cut something else in the body and just as Dean turns to face him, blood hits both him and Sam in the face. "Oh, sorry. Spleen juice." The coroner says, with a slight smirk. Y/N looks at her brother's, smirking at them.

Later that day, the three are sat down in front of the Deputy's desk, waiting. The deputy smiles at Y/N. She smiles back politely. The door to the Sherriff's office opens and outcomes said man.
"Hell's bells, Linus, have you seen my.... Who are they?" The Sheriff asks, seeing the three siblings. They begin to stand.
"Federal agents. I, uh...." Linus says, stuttering.
"And you kept them waiting?" The sheriff asks.
"You, you said not to disturb" Linus replies.
"It was no bother, really." Y/N says, smiling at them. Sam and Dean nod. The Sheriff returns the nod and sticks his arm out to gesture for them to follow him.
"Come on back, fellas, lady" The three walk over to the Sheriff's office only to be stopped before they entered "Shoes off" They do so and they make their way in.
"Al Britton. Good to meet you" Britton introduces, shaking their hands.
"You too" Sam replies, smiling at him. Britton gestures for Sam, Dean and Y/N to sit down. "Thank you" The sheriff takes out alcohol gel and start slathering his hands. Dean and Y/N exchange a weird look before looking to Sam, giving him the same look.
"Okay. So, what can I do for uncle Sam?" Britton asks, closing his laptop and sitting down.
"Well, we're looking into the death of Frank O'Brien. We understand some of your men found his body."
"They did. Me and Frank, we were friends. Hell, we were gamecocks." Britton says as Dean snickers. Y/N bites the inside of her cheek to stop herself. The sheriff then gives Dean a stern look, causing him to look abashed. Y/N looks at him.
"Sorry about him." She says. Britton lifts his hand up and shakes it, smiling at her.
"It's not bother." He says, before looking back at Dean "That's our softball team's name." Dean nods "They're majestic animals." Britton looks down at his desk "I knew Frank since high school. To be honest, I just this morning got up the strength to go see him. Frank was...He was a good man."
"Yeah. Big heart." Dean says, causing Sam and Y/N to look at him-knowing what he meant. Y/N elbows him in his arm, before they turn their heads to Sam who speaks.
"Before he died, did you notice frank acting strange? Maybe scared of something?" He asks.
"Oh hell, yeah. Real jumpy" Britton replies.
"You know what scared him?" Sam asks.
"No." Britton replies "Wouldn't answer his phone. Finally, I sent some of my boys over to check on him, and well, you know the rest." The sheriff begins to cough as he reaches for the bottle and pours alcohol gel on his hands again. Dean looks at Sam and Y/N and mouths "What?" while giving them a 'WTF' looks. Y/N shrugs as the three watch him. "So, why the Feds give a crap?" Britton asks, slathering gel on his hands "You don't really think there's a case here?" Y/N looks between her brothers.
"No, no. It's probably nothing. Just a heart attack." She says.
==
The three Winchesters walk out of the police station and cross a road.
"No way that was a heart attack." Dean says.
"Definitely no way." Sam agrees "Three victims, all with those same red scratches. All went from jittery to terrified to dead within 48 hours."
"Something scared them to death?" Y/N questions.
"All right, so what can do that?" Sam asks.
"What can't?" Dean asks "Ghosts, vampires, chupacabra? It could be a hundred things."
"Yeah. So, we make a list and start crossing things off." Sam says.
"Alright, who's the last person to see Frank O'Brien alive?" Dean asks.
"Uh, his neighbour, Mark Hutchins." Sam replies.
"Hang on, hand go." Y/N says as she stops, Dean and Sam following. She looks ahead.
"What?" Sam asks. Y/N turns to face Dean and Sam.
"I don't like the looks of those teenagers down there." She says, and Dean and Sam look around to see some teenagers talking near the Impala. "Let's walk this way" She says, crossing the street. Sam and Dean stand with perplexed looks on their faces.
"What's up with her?" Sam asks. Dean shrugs. The two then proceed to follow her.
==
The three arrive at Brian's neighbour's house, and they sit in the living room, which is surrounded by reptiles and snakes. Mark, in question, has a snake wrapped around his shoulders.
"Tyler, Perry, and Kramer. Just like Aerosmith" Mark says, stroking the head of a snake. Y/N looks around the room, her brows furrowed.
"Yeah, small world. So, the last time you saw Frank O'Brien?" Sam asks. Y/N turns her head around and sees a big lizard and suddenly faces forward, swallowing. Dean gives her a weird look.
"Monday, he was watching me from his window. I waved at him, but he just closed the curtains." Mark answers.
"Hmm. did you speak to him recently? Did he seem different? Uh, scared?" Dean asks, turning to face Mark.
"Oh, totally. He was freaking out." Mark says. Sam and Dean look at Y/N, who looks freaked out too. She shakes her head and looks to Mark.
"Do you know, uh..do you know what scared him?" She asks.
"Well, yeah, witches."
"Witches?" Sam asks. He, Y/N, and Dean look at each other. "Like...?"
"Well, "Wizard of Oz" was on TV the other night, right? And he said that green witch was totally out to get him."
"Anything else scare him?" Dean asks.
"Everything else scared him. Al-Qaeda, ferrets, artificial sweetener. Those Pez dispensers with their dead little eyes. Lots of stuff." Mark says. Y/N looks around again at the animals inside the aquariums.
"So, tell me. What was Frank like?" Dean asks.
"I mean, he's dead, you know?" Mark says. He stutters "I-I don't want to hammer him but, he got better."
"He got better?" Sam asks.
"Well, in high school he was, he was a dick." Mark says.
"A dick?" Sam repeats.
"Like a bully. I mean, he probably taped half the town's butt cheeks together," Dean snickers and Mark looks at him. "Mine included." Dean stops laughing.
"So, he pissed a lot of people off. You think anyone would have wanted to get revenge?" Y/N asks.
"Well, I don't...Frank had a heart attack, right?" Mark asks.
"Just answer the question, sir." Sam says.
"No, I don't think so. Like I said, he got better. And after what happened to his wife."
"His wife?" Y/N asks, sharing a look with Dean. "So, he was married."
"She died about 20 years ago." Mark explains. "Frank was really broken up about it." Y/N starts staring at the snake around Mark's neck. He notices. "Don't be scared of Donny. He's a sweetheart. It's Marie you got to look out for." Mark nods to the spot between Dean and Y/N "She smells fear." A big albino snake creeps up from behind the couch. Sam looks over to them and double takes after seeing said snake. Dean sees it too and moves himself over slightly to Sam. Y/N is the last to see it and gasps. She looks at Mark, smiling back shakily while he smirks. She stays very still while it crawls down her lap and when Dean sees her strange petrified look, he bites back a smirk.
==
That night, Y/N is sat in the car reading while scratching her left arm. Dean then opens the passenger door, Sam doing the same to the back door. The sudden arrival surprised Y/N and she jumps slightly.
"Hey. Any luck at the county clerk's office?" Sam asks, leaning forwards.
"I'm not sure I'd call it luck." Y/N replies. "Frank's wife, Jessie, was a manic-depressive. She went off her meds back in '88 and vanished. They found her two weeks later, three towns over. Strung up in her motel room, suicide."
"Any chance Frank helped her along to the other side?" Dean asks.
"No, Frank was working the swing shift when she disappeared." Y/N answers. "Airtight alibi." She turns on the car and drives in the middle of town. "How was Frank's pad?"
"Clean." Sam answers. "Searched it top to bottom. No EMF, no hex bags, no sulfur."
"So probably no ghosts, no witches, no demons." Y/N says.
"Pfh..."
"3 down and 97 to go." Dean says, sighing.
"Yeah." Sam replies before noticing the speed Y/N is driving in. "Dude, you're going 20"
"And?" She asks.
"That's the speed limit" Dean answers.
"What? Safety's a crime now?" Y/N asks. She drives through intersection, passing their motel.
"Dude, where are you going? That was our hotel."
"Sam, I'm not gonna make a left-hand turn into oncoming traffic. I'm not suicidal." Y/N says. Sam and Dean give Y/N a confused look. "Did I just say that?" Y/N asks. "That was kind of weird." She laughs and she continues to drive.
"Do you hear something?" Dean asks. Sam feels around in his pockets and pulls out the EMF meter, moving it from and to Y/N where it makes a noise. Y/N looks back at the EMF in fear.
"Am I haunted?" She says, her eyes open wide. "Am I haunted?!"
==
The next day, Sam is on the phone talking to Bobby, walking past a building holding a box of donuts with Dean following beside him.
"Okay Bobby, keep looking." Sam says, hanging up. They stop walking when they hear music from the Impala.
"What is she doing?" Dean asks. Sam shrugs and the two walk towards it to see Y/N lying on the front seat doing air drums to Eye of the Tiger. Dean bangs on the roof of the car and scared Y/N. She glares at him before getting out the car, rolling up her sleeve.
"Guys. Look at this." Y/N says, showing the scratches on her arm.
"We just talked to Bobby." Sam says, passing Y/N the donuts.
"And?" Y/N asks, smelling the box of donuts before throwing them back into the car. Dean and Sam look perplexed at Y/N ignoring the donuts.
"Um, well, you're not gonna like it." Dean says.
"What?" She asks.
"It's ghost sickness"
"Ghost sickness?" Y/N asks.
"Yeah" Sam nods.
"God, no."
"Yeah"
"I don't even know what that is."
"Okay. Some cultures believe that certain spirits can infect the living with a disease, which is why they stopped displaying bodies in houses and started taking them off to funeral homes." Sam explains.
"Okay, get to the good stuff." Y/N says, crossing her arms.
"Symptoms are you get anxious..."
"Yeah." She nods.
"Then scared, then really scared, then your heart gives out. Sound familiar?" Dean asks.
"Yeah, but guys, we haven't seen a ghost in weeks" Y/N says.
"Well, I doubt you caught it from a ghost." Sam says "Look, once a spirit infects that first person, Ghost sickness can spread like any sickness through a cough, a handshake, whatever. It's like the flu. Now, Frank O'Brien was the first to die, which means he was probably the first infected. Patient zero."
"Our very own outbreak monkey." Y/N says.
"Right." Dean says. "Get this, Frank was in Maumee over the weekend. Softball tournament. Which is where he must have infected the other two victims."
"Where they gamecocks?" She asks.
"Cornjerkers" Y/N nods slowly. "So, ghosts infected Frank. He passed it on to the other guys and I got it from his corpse?"
"Right" Sam confirms.
"So now what, I have 48 hours before I go insane and my heart stops?" Y/N asks.
"More like 24." Sam corrects.
"Perfect." She says.
"Yeah."
"Well, why me? Why not you two?" Y/N asks "I mean, no offense but you two got hit with the spleen juice."
"Yeah, um, you see Bobby, Sam and I have a theory about that too." Dean says. "Turns out all three victims shared a certain, uh, personality type. Frank was a bully. The other two victims, one was a vice principal, the other was a bouncer."
"Okay."
"Basically, they were all dicks" Sam answers.
"So, you're saying I'm a dick?" Y/N asks.
"No, no, no. It's not just that." Sam says. "All three victims used fear as a weapon, and now this disease is just returning the favour."
"I don't scare people"
"Y/N, all we do is scare people." Dean says.
"Okay, well then, you two are dicks too."
"Apparently, we're not."
"Whatever. How do we stop it?" She asks.
"We gank the ghost that started all this. We do that, the disease should clear up." Dean says.
"You thinking Frank's wife?" Y/N asks.
"Who knows why she killed herself, you know?" Sam says. "Hey, what are you doing waiting out here, anyway?" Y/N looks up at the hotel.
"Our room's on the fourth floor." She replies. Sam and Dean look, shaking their heads. "It's...it's high"
"I'll see if I can move us down to the first." Dean says. Y/N smiles.
"Thanks." She says.
"Sure." Dean says, walking away. Sam climbs in the back seat while Y/N opens the driver's side and gets in, looking slightly embarrassed. She picks up the donuts and opens the box, looking down at them in disgust before handing them back to Sam.
"Now this is embarrassing. " She says, looking outside. "Here's me, someone who fights demons, vampires and murderous clowns and such. Terrified of almost everything." She huffs out a laugh. Sam joins, leaning forward and looking at his sister.
"It's not embarrassing." He says. "Everyone still has fears. Always will have. And besides, it's an illness that is making you scared of everything, not you." Sam says, opening the donut box and eating one. She continues to look around, nodding.
"Yeah. I guess your right" She agrees, yet her eyes the opposite.
==
In the motel room, Y/N sits at a table with a book in front of her. She stares at the wall clock ticking loudly before going back to reading and starts coughing when she sees disturbing images. She begins to have hallucinations of words popping up on the book. Words that a bully or a 'dick' would say. She begins to panic before rubbing her eyes, dropping the book as her vision hazed. The ticking sound soon becomes irritating to her, and she looks back at the clock with a death glare.
Sam and Dean come into the room, seeing the clock now broken on the floor. They then look to Y/N, who is on the sofa drinking beer with her feet up on the coffee table.
"Man, did the clock deserve this?" Dean asks jokingly. She ignores him.
"Everything all right?" Sam asks, closing the door.
"Oh, yeah. Just peachy. Find anything?" She asks. Sam places the bag he was carrying on the table and a folder. Dean walks over to the sofa and sits down.
"Yeah, Jessie O'Brien's body was cremated, so I'm pretty sure she is not our ghost," Sam says, sitting down and placing his feet on the table. "Hey, quit picking at that," he says when Y/N begins itching at it again. She doesn't listen, and Dean slaps her hand, causing her to glare at him but nonetheless stop.
"How you feeling?" He asks.
"Awesome," she replies. "It's nice to have my head on the chopping block again. I almost forgot what that feels like."
"Yeah."
"It's freaking delightful," she says, going to take a sip of her beer.
"We'll keep looking," Sam says. Y/N begins to cough and sits up.
"You okay?" Dean asks, patting her back. When she started to choke, he got worried. "Hey!" She places her beer on the coffee table and shot up from the seat, Dean and Sam following.
"Y/N!" They both say. She begins gagging over the sink where she spits out a wood chip. She picks it up, and her brothers stand on either side of her, watching her clean the wood chip before holding it up.
"We've been completely ignoring the biggest clue we have, you," Sam says.
"I don't want to be a clue," Y/N says sadly, looking at the wood chip.
"The abrasions, this, the disease, it's trying to tell us something," Sam continues.
"Tell us what, wood chips?" Dean asks, gesturing to the wood chip. Y/N looks at Sam, also confused as to what he means.
"Exactly," Sam says.

By • Olalekan Fagbade Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has warned that any traditional ruler in the state found harbouring criminals would be dealt with, irrespective of his position. He gave the warning at the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Umuahia during the inauguration of the 9th Executive Council of the Abia State Council of Ndi Eze. Otti described traditional rulers as valued personalities whose support is needed for the security and transformation of Abia, describing the new leadership of the traditional institution as worthy. He maintained that his administration was meticulous in choosing Eze Linus Nto Mba and other royal fathers to lead their colleagues, advising them to avoid rancour among traditional rulers. He expressed dismay that some traditional rulers are ignorant of events in their communities which hamper community development. Otti charged the traditional rulers to collaborate with his government in securing the state, reminding them of the newly launched Operation Crush and why the security combined outfit should be given the necessary support. The governor who expressed his determination to capitalize on Abia’s agricultural potential and other mineral resources in developing the state said such lofty plans cannot be achieved in a situation of insecurity and crisis. In his inaugural address, the new Chairman of Abia State Council of Ndi Eze, HRH Eze Linus Nto Mba promised that rural communities in the state would experience uncommon development under his watch. Eze Mba who promised to rally his colleagues for the development of Abia, assured that his administration would also engender peace, unity and love in their various communities. He further thanked Governor Otti for entrusting him with the task of leading the royal fathers and for increasing the monthly stipends of traditional rulers in Abia, saying that the confidence reposed in him would not be disappointed. Other members of the traditional rulers’ executive council are HRH, Eze Nelson Mmerengwa, the first Deputy Chairman, HRH, Eze Franklin Nwosu, second Deputy Chairman and HRH Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu, the third Deputy Chairman #abia #GovernorOtti #harbour #Monarch #Politics

THE PARALLAX VIEW (1974): Warren Beatty DIGS DEEP In This Twisty Political Thriller
There is a great scene in “Ocean’s Twelve” (a very underrated chapter in the “Ocean’s” series) where Brad Pitt (Rusty) and George Clooney (Danny) haze Matt Damon’s Linus, who has requested to take on more of a leadership role in their current job. It’s a great scene performed with assistance from the fantastic Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid from the “Harry Potter” series). The joke is that Pitt, Clooney, and Coltrane all communicate with each other in an indecipherable allegory of which they can understand each other, but Linus is left out of the loop in a confused panic. The following is part of Esmarelda’s Summer Seventies Series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP7SSmRtArc That is how I felt on all three of my viewings of “The Parallax View.” Every time I watch this film I feel as though the actors are speaking another language, and I am perhaps a trillion times less intelligent or educated than I ought to be. There’s something here, I know there is, but the construction of the story as a whole is so convoluted and crammed together that even after three separate viewings I am left scratching my head. I have a general rule for films that were made prior to the year 2000: I am not smarter than the director. I have a dislike for internet trolls who search through films desperately digging for the tiniest little insignificant out-of-place detail so that they can then project themselves as being smarter than the filmmaker for having spotted the mistake. I am not that person and I wholeheartedly believe in giving benefit-of-the-doubt. So, when it comes to “The Parallax View,” I have to give both Warren Beatty and Alan J. Pakula credit based on the merit of their other (better) works. It also must be said that I was not alive when Kennedy was shot and thus conspiracy theories and coverups are not as intriguing to me as they might be to older generations... but perhaps I have only been looking at “The Parallax View” from one angle. The story follows Joe Frady (Warren Beatty – hey that rhymes!) as a regional journalist who sets out to investigate the strange circumstances surrounding the deaths of peripheral witnesses of a presidential candidate’s murder. Initially, his former girlfriend, Lee (Paula Prentiss) comes to him in hysterics as she reveals to him that others who were present at the assassination have been turning up dead and she might be next. Frady is dismissive of her worries until the next scene cuts to Lee in the morgue, having died in a car wreck while high on barbiturates and alcohol. Consumed by his guilt, Frady seeks to investigate further, and from there, the film navigates through a series of ex-FBI agents, psychopaths, psychology professors, and dim-witted deputies while Frady seems determined to get to the truth. Again, I am not smarter than Alan J. Pakula and I like a film that makes you watch it twice, but perhaps it’s a lack of establishing shots or the overall lightning-fast pace of the film that makes the viewer start to squint and go, “wait a minute, who is that guy again?” “The Parallax View” was rather popular upon its release, probably due to Warren Beatty’s feathered hair and its slick tagline “As American as apple pie” (what??) All in all, the film expects us to believe that there is a corporation run out of Los Angeles that recruits candidates with psychopathic tendencies to brainwash them into political killing machines. Okay, fine, I’ll bite. But the fact that this mysterious company recruits those candidates by mailing out cryptic narcissist-bait fliers all over the country with its address printed on them is a little much. Further, the same company would seek to kill all witnesses to an assassination in the hopes that no one would ever be suspicious of the circumstances surrounding the assassination while at the same time not getting suspicious that the witnesses to the assassination are all being assassinated kind of feels like we are running in circles. I, a hapless millennial raised on Nickelodeon and GoGurt, can imagine a time when the political suspense genre filled with coverups and conspiracies could be seen as cool and interesting in the wake of the JFK and Bobby Kennedy murders, however, in a post-January 6th world where we now know what jacked up believers of conspiracy theories know and look like, for me, for whatever reason, I’m just not drinking the Kool-Aid. Stylistically, the film is shot beautifully – Warren Beatty is usually shot at a distance, giving him the appearance of being followed. And there are wonderfully fun set pieces, such as a car chase and a rushing dam that keep the action moving forward. But in the lexicon of Alan J. Pakula’s political conspiracy films, I think I’d much rather stick with “All the President’s Men.” In my knowledge of not being smarter than a filmmaker, and also dutiful to take the advice I once heard from Cate Blanchett, I try dearly when watching a film not to focus on what it is that I like or don’t like about a film, but rather what it is that the filmmaker is doing or saying. And while I wholeheartedly have faith that there is an intention here to give an alternative perspective to (at the time) recent political controversy, I’m still not convinced that the filmmakers had entirely grasped the concept of the story they were telling at the time they were telling it. Warren Beatty’s Joe Frady (I rhymed again!) doesn’t go through any type of arc or change. I’m not a stickler for box-checking character development, but at the same time, I feel like I know little about Frady and thus don’t really care what happens to him or what he finds out. Whereas in another Beatty seventies classic, “Shampoo,” I know exactly what his character George wants out of life and, as thus, find his journey more enjoyable to watch. It’s that sense of purpose lacking in “The Parallax View” that forces me to question whether or not the film is intended to entertain as a realistic political conspiracy thriller or to serve as a conspiracy perpetuated by the filmmakers themselves to create an indecipherable allegory intended to keep the viewer in such a state of guessing that they are forced to spend money on additional tickets in an attempt to decode the convoluted plot. Ex-Reps member, Okorie reveals How he made Umahi governor
A former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Linus Okorie, who represented Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency has tasked the outgoing governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi to acknowledge how he (Okorie) made the arrangement and connection that led to his (Umahi) becoming governor of the State in 2014. Okorie, was the Senatorial candidate of Labour Party, LP, for Ebonyi South senatorial zone in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections that were held on 25th, February, 2023. The former member of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Okorie, who has dragged the outgoing governor Umahi and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the election petition tribunal sitting in Abakaliki, vowed that he will retrieve his alleged stolen mandate from the governor. Umahi is the senator-elect for Ebonyi South senatorial zone. Okorie had alleged that the Independent National Electoral commission, INEC, stole his mandate and gave it to Umahi. According to him: “I got connected to the family of the former President Goodluck Jonathan, within my very 1st tenure in the House of Representatives. I was close enough by the Grace of God, that I had ears at a very important point. “And as late as February, 2014, the issue of who becomes the governor of Ebonyi state was raised by me and taken by me to the first family. I was the one who made the arrangement and the connection, the introduction of David Umahi as the deputy governor to the then Jonathan family. “I had the chance to run for governor. I had the chance to run for the ticket of PDP governorship in Ebonyi state in 2015. Only the will of God, will ultimately give power to whom He wants to give power. But if I did, Umahi wouldn’t have gotten to where he is today because a lot of the effort that made him (Umahi) was mine and that of my wife. “Umahi has never come out to say that I (Okorie) helped him to become the governor of Ebonyi State. He is not talking about it. Is it only him (Umahi) that gives, why doesn’t he acknowledge what others did for him. I will never fail to appreciate what he did for me in 2011. Can he (Umahi) acknowledge what I did for him to become governor? I will not tell the story of what he (Umahi) did as he became governor.” Okorie lamented that Umahi after assuming power, especially in 2020, started to work on how to bring him down. “It took governor David Umahi six (6) years and that was November 2020, when he decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, that he (Umahi) called me (Okorie) and apologized for hurting me for the past 6 years. “I was driving to attend a meeting in Abuja, when he called me. I asked him what happened? He told me that he was with Jonathan and his wife last night, and they told him (Umahi) that it was not even Senator Pius Anyim, that made him governor, that it was I (Okorie) and my wife, that made them (Jonathan) support him (Umahi). That he didn’t know, that he is sorry. That night, he (Umahi) told me (Okorie) that I should join him in the APC. And that he will send me back to the National Assembly as a House of Representatives member. “And that he (Umahi) will sponsor everything, and that he has intimated the first family, which he did. To cut the story, the first family called me and told me what he (Umahi) had discussed with them. And that he will give me an opportunity to nominate a commissioner or any other position if I will join him to the APC but I told him no. What I told the Jonathan family was that I will stay with Pius Anyim, because Anyim will tell you what he will do, or what he will not do. “But I will not join David Umahi because he will promise you heaven and earth, and at the end, he will succeed in not doing anything for you. That I better stay, if you like, the devil I know is better than the angel I know not. These are the things that have transpired between me and him (Umahi) since 2020. I won’t bother to tell you about what he (Umahi) did concerning my ticket in 2019. “It was all about to stop me running for Senate, that I was abducted by Ebubeagu security operatives on October 16, 2022. From there, I was tortured, stripped naked, videoed in public, dehumanized and from there, thrown to prison on trumped-up charges of murder. Murder charges of people who are already in trials, those people were charged by DSS, six (6) months before my abduction. What did they do?They took the same charge sheet and cleaned the names of those people and entered my name. And gave it to police to go and charge me “And while I was in Ebubeagu office at the old government house Abakaliki, being tortured, the question they were asking me was that, why will I be running for the Ebonyi south senatorial seat position with the governor, David Umahi? That’s the only question they were asking me. I have paid Umahi back in a million folds. He has done me good and I have done him a great favour. And he (Umahi) knows this very well” he stressed. stardew headcanons - twin peaks edition
HELLO all! with the little amount of free time i have, i've been binging twin peaks - a very quirky show about an fbi agent coming into a small, otherwise very normal and humble town, and quickly realizing just what lurks under the surface... being the city girl i am, i've always longed for what it would be like to live in such a rural town, getting to know the townsfolk, falling in love with the small things it provides... and solving murders of course! anyway, naturally i'm going to want to compare it to stardew valley... see below!
note: name credit to @angelsdelicate because her name headcanons are literally top tier! <3
THE TOWNSFOLK
*the sheriff, shane jackson, a man who's got his heart in the right place but he himself finds that easy to forget, leads the valley's sheriff department, along with its deputies: deputy samson carmichael, lovable but rather simple-minded and deputy sebastian hawthorne, quick and quiet. and don't forget about miss penelope routier, the lovely secretary that deputy carmichael seems to be head over heels for, and mr. demetrius darnell, the local scientist that helps with forensics and autopsies. the team usually deals with the mundane lost pets and cheating spouses- imagine their surprise upon the telephone call from the local fisherman, willy lyons, about a body floating in the lake...
*the stardrop saloon, owned by augustus chandra, is always lively and bustling with folks in and out. they are known county-wide for their homely diner-style meals and strong black coffee, along with their lovely waitresses: emily calvin, a young woman with the brightest smile in town, and jodi laurent, older than her counterpart but with just as enough pep. jodi's husband, kent richards, currently is awaiting his parole hearing, hoping to be able to make it back to the valley after his year in prison- jodi wishing desperately he doesn't get it.
*and with every small town, there's always an ultra-rich tycoon waiting for the next buck- the valley's very own mr. pierre rosenburg, with the wife, caroline, and the daughter, young abigail. mrs. rosenburg barely recognizes her husband anymore and doesn't bother with the shady deals he does in the dark- but abigail is determined to take him down, doing her own sleuthing on what her father really is up to when he leaves for his many business trips.
*the local high school is rather small and underfunded, but the students there feel loved and closely knit. everyone knows everyone else. among the few hundred, there's the expected valedictorian, maru darnell, with her outstanding academic record and eager commitment to do great, alexander mullner, the football team's star quarterback who seems to love getting in trouble with girls, and abigail rosenburg, the beautiful and cunning daughter of local businessman mr. pierre rosenburg.
*there's the small hospital, led by doctor harvey mccarthy MD and helped by many nurses, such as mrs. pamela wilson RN. the two have their own baggage- dr. mccarthy having abruptly moved here after nearly a decade of work in a city across the country, unwilling to state why, and nurse wilson battling an addiction to alcohol, wanting to get better for her estranged daughter...
*there's young miss haley o'henry, who dropped out of high school in senior year to marry trucker clint o'henry, unfortunate enough to get coerced by his seemingly empty promises to provide for her, leaving out how he in the end just wanted a maid he didn't have to pay for. while he's out making 'deliveries' [which she highly suspects isn't the case], she lets alex mullner come over to give her the attention she desires so much - not even trying to think about the consequences if clint ever found out. she dreams of alex saving her from her mistake of a marriage.
*some other oddballs in the town include linus wickerson, a quiet man who seems to live in the forest, only coming out to the saloon every once in a while for a hot cocoa, mrs. leah white, a shut-in artist who refuses to leave her home after the unexpected death of her wife, and elliott mariposa, the valley's paper editor- eccentric and keen to many of the town's residents' secrets.
*sheriff jackson knew things were becoming far too much for small-town cops like him and his team. and with that, a new person popped into town, dressed professionally with a clean haircut and fancy shoes - an air of deductive intellect to them... they shook hands with the team, deputies hawthorne and carmichael sharing a suspicious look upon the newest addition to the department, and with a smile, said: let's get started! [insert your farmer here!]
THE RELATIONSHIPS
*penny and sam had a few flings throughout the time they've worked together- penny thinks he's rather handsome in his uniform and sam loves her sparkling green eyes- however, the two both don't know what to do with themselves when they are alone, sam being rather shy and penny believing men need to step up and make the first move. eventually penny realizes sam just might not be very mature and she sees the writer elliott, who gives an air of extreme maturity and haughtiness that rather turns off penny, but she's trying to send a hint to sam to fight for her, so she continues to see him despite not being in tune with her. sebastian catches on to this office romance, stopping sam in the hallway- what are you doing? fight for her! and staring down elliott whenever he has the chance!
*kent had been involved in an accident, sending him in for 2 years, with parole. jodi never truly loved him, having married him out of spite to her rather controlling parents and running off with him in hopes he'd take her to better place. instead, he got caught drunk driving and sent to prison, leaving her a waitress barely making ends meet for herself. the only thing that keeps her motivated to live another day is caroline- with her husband out so often, the two came together lamenting their lives, having expected it to be so different when they were younger. the two would share a bottle of wine on weekends while her daughter at a friend's and husband out of town on some business trip- one night things had escalated with the two finding themselves in the same bed, not wanting to get up and stay in each other's arms! the two make plans of leaving their husbands but that's all they are- plans for another life.
*clint wasn't always this unshaven, hot-headed, greasy trucker- he had money and loved to spend it on shiny things- a fancy corvette, slick boots, a leather jacket- upon seeing how laid-back and free haley was, he simply thought it'd be easy to get her under his roof with his expensive car and wads of cash, to fold his laundry, wash the dishes... when she saw him for what he really was, she began to hate herself for getting caught up with such a deadbeat- cutting off her parents, dropping out of class, halting her entire life for this man that she couldn't stand to look at. he'd be so nasty to her the days he was home, the days he wasn't providng some relief to haley. she'd have alex come over, meeting him through clint no less- alex'd help clint with local deliveries- and would dream of how he'd be a far better husband to her, a far better lover!
*pierre had been a hotshot in his prime years, thinking he still is something women swoon over in his late-forties. his lack of self-awareness allowed for his ego to be inflated through the purchasing of a certain gentlemen's club up north- he chases after its young women employees, using up their young girlish charms as vitality to keep himself afloat... without their sweet words, suggestive touches, and nights where he can feel young again, he'd be bored- as simple as that!
AND THE MURDER
the town's sheriff department received a phone call one morning on february 24th, a body being found washed up ashore by the local fishermen, willy talking to sheriff jackson with a quivering voice. the boys take a trip to the pier, deputy carmichael sobbing as he takes photos of the young woman's body- nothing like this had ever happen in this small town. overcome with sadness, shane makes the call to the parents of miss delilah lalune [my farmer], the victim, to their unparalleled grief. the whole town mourned her together, her absence having an impact upon every nook and cranny of the town. her closest friends made it their mission to find what really happened to her- they knew she was in some sort of trouble but never in their wildest dreams thought it'd turn out like this and that and that and this- questioning suspects and analyzing clues- unearthing the story, it getting even deeper and deeper, with more dark and perverse parts of society coming out to the light...
