Cremini. These guys look relatively similar to button mushrooms except they have a tan/brown color. They are the same species as portobellos, except younger in age. With a deeper, #earthy flavor, they work well for pretty much anything.

Button. Mild in flavor and slightly spongy, #button mushrooms are commonly seen in markets. They are probably the least expensive so if you are on a #budget, start here.

Oyster. Oyster mushrooms are #delicate with a light #nutty flavor and also have a similar texture to #chicken. My personal favorite.

Shiitake. One of the most #popular mushrooms around. Found in many #asian dishes, they tend to have a rich earthy flavor.

Portobello. Large with a #meat like consistency, #portobellos are often substituted for meat in burgers and other dishes. They are the same species as #cremini mushrooms, except older.

Chanterelle. The most #expensive mushrooms on the list. A sturdy mushroom with a #woodsy taste, they add a nice additional #depthofflavor.
