i still can’t stop thinking about the moment of sylas calling grog an ‘oaf’

first if all, sick burn. the man knows how to read. (allegedly)

second of all, it’s just funny to me because next to delilah, sylas is the oaf. like, yeah, there’s the running gag of him being a himbo and dumb as rocks with nothing but charisma to his name, and on a more serious note i don’t actually think the contrast is so stark but the contrast is... definitely there.

going off of pure mechanics, on the usual scale of 1-20 delilah's intelligence score translates to 22. (i say translates to, because matt said she has a character sheet but we don’t know if the format is a monster stat block or a traditional character sheet and matt is still too much of a coward to share it DESPITE SAYING HE WOULD, so we just don’t know the specifics other than what we can decrypt from passing combat comments that actually have numeric values to work with.)

twenty-two. i mean, yes, very much doable, even for a PC. also just because the DM does whatever the hell they want. but still. that’s two over the usual cap. she’s out there just galaxy braining life.

and then, there you have sylas. the man who still asks his wife “delilah, what are you doing?” as she drags a corpse across the floor and dumps it in the center of a ritual circle. after YEARS of doing this shit. you’d think he’s caught on by now.

i know, i know, it was a set up for delilah’s iconic “protecting you” line, the sole interpretation shouldn’t be sylas just being confused 24/7 but going along with it anyway because he’s content to see his hot necromancer wife live her best life slashing throats and chanting in tongues. (but it’s more fun that way.)

where i’m going with all this is the joy of the concept that a relationship this devoted and passionate could flourish between them. i mean, bonds like that take time, energy, effort. conversation. is sylas ever going to tell delilah anything remotely intellectual that she doesn’t already know? probably not. and yet. here we are. he still has her attention.

kind of reminds me of romancing scott in monster prom, really. he has so little to offer in the ways of saying anything useful, but the longer he blabbers on the more you appreciate his simplicity. 

i mean, there’s a certain amount of purity to how readily sylas seems to accept that he’s just not on the same level of brainpower. there’s no divide or underlying competition to their dynamic, he does what he’s good at and she does what she’s good at and together they just happen to cover all bases. let us not forget that sylas isn’t just a sweet talker, but a formidable soldier as well.

i’m just enamored with the idea of delilah as a young wizard buried in books, researching, training, holed up in a study, probably forgetting to eat or drink because she’s hyperfixated on getting a certain spell just right. and then sylas pushes into the room with idk, a fucking lemon tart and some tea, probably with his body aching after hours of sparring but GOD FORBID he doesn’t spend ten full minutes kissing delilah’s hands because her joints too are hurting from going through the motions of practicing the somatics for this hot new enchantment she’s stumbled upon.

and if she’s excited to share her new findings, he will listen. he might not understand all of that arcane mumbo jumbo, but he’ll be the soundboard for her enthusiasm and look at her with so much reverence and pride because he knows she’s an unstoppable force and he’s there to support her through all her exploits.

or, you know, maybe a complex conversation is the precise last thing she seeks after a day of running her mind on full capacity. maybe she’s extremely relieved to have him show up and take her into his arms and just talk about his day. he’ll tell her a story about that one guy who strapped his armor up the wrong way around (totally wasn’t him) and then some squire tripping over their own feet. he’ll try to make her laugh, and cheekily ease her out of a state of being on high alert, so her lovely brain can rest.

Been looking at your Jumbros au! It makes me really happy, just the thought of it puts a smile on my face 😁 With the au in mind though, I just couldn’t stop thinking of a mixture of them as well as an au with the seablings in the mix. Just the thought of Lizzie and her two “little” twin brothers is a cute idea to think about! ((Especially with the idea of her introducing them to someone, maybe Joel or something, and just telling them that they are her little brothers, despite the both lowkey/high key towering over her 😂)) With this originally coming from an au I saw from you though, I wanted to ask, what are your thoughts on this?

Yes that is indeed a canon part of Jumbros

You see, there’s two versions of Jumbros:

One where Jimmy was taken from the Jumbo family basically at birth and so his family is Delilah and Justin as his parents, and Grace, John, and Mumbo as his siblings

And the seablings one where Mumbo was also a fish [ hehe salmon >:) ] and was separated from both Jim’s egg and Liz, and then his egg was found by little kid Xisuma while he was in the Overworld with Alex and Doomguy. X asked if he could keep it so it would have a family, and Doomguy was like “lol why not” and so they take the egg back to the End, but wth it ain’t a fish that hatches; it’s a human?? And so x and Alex are like “poggers new baby bro” and Doomguy now has 3 kids and Xisuma named Mumbo bc that’s what he called the egg bc he thought it was a funny name

And then as the 3 of them grow up, Mumbo’s sad cuz he knows he different from his brothers cuz he’s not an Admin and doesn’t have wings. He doesn’t know that he’s a fish dude yet bc he’s never interacted with Overworld water before cuz it’s the End

Doomguy doesn’t tell Mumbo about him like, coming from a big fish egg or whatever bc he doesn’t want him to feel even more alienated than he already does, but DG and him bond over being “human” and not having wings (cuz technnicallyyyyy doomguy isn’t fully human either; it’s a whole thing haha)

But after DG dies and Alex and X fight, and Alex is banished, Mumbo is caught in the middle of it, and is dragged to the Overworld by Xisuma to start Hermitcraft. Once Mumbo is in the Overworld, he finally has interaction with water, and he finds out he’s a salmon dude, and he freaks the flip out ofc ofc

He doesn’t tell X at first bc he hates being different, and this just makes it worse

But eventually he tells Xisuma, and X is like “oh yeah dude, when i was a little kid, i found this egg by the ocean.”

And Mumbo’s like “??? You didn’t?? Tell?? Me??” And Xisuma’s like “Dad told us not to cuz he didn’t want you to feel way different”, to which Mumbo can understand

But X helps Mumbo feel better about the fish thing, which he still keeps a secret from the rest of the Hermits

Xisuma wants to help Mumbo find where he really came from, but it’s obvi super hard

Finally, in S7, Xisuma is able to find who he thinks is part of Mumbo’s family, and that’s Jimmy

Xisuma doesn’t tell Jimmy about him being Mumbo’s bro at first (basically just like the typical Jumbros AU), and so then he introduces them to each other, Jimmy has a blast visiting Hermitcraft and his buddies like Grian, and becomes pals with Mumbo

Then X tells them both the news, and Mumbo’s like “!pog!” And Jimmy’s like “!pog!” And Mumbo asks Jimmy about being a fish, and Jim’s like “heck yeah bro!” And he jumps into the water and he’s a cod :DDD

Mumbo’s like “!!Cool!!!” And he jumps in the water, and he turns into a salmon dude

Basically Jimmy’s face went from :D to D: cuz whoops his bro is the type of fish he hates

But he learns to live with it ig haha

And so then Jimmy tells Mumbo about their older sister, Lizzie, and Mumbo’s super hyped bc bro! More family! And he meets her and she’s elated to have another little bro

And Mumbo finds it cool that all three members of his new family (Jimmy, Lizzie, and his brother-in-law Joel) all know his bestie Grian

I saw a thing where Lizzie was mega tall, and I really like that, and I think it’s even funnier if she introduces her sibs to Joel, and they tower over HIM and he’s like “bruh everyone in this family here is taller than me HJKDHFGDJGJKHD”

Okay there’s also a version of Jumbros that’s a mixture of the two, where jimmy was taken from the Jumbos at birth, and Lizzie was also taken from the family, and then the memory of them was erased bc otherworldly beings find that funny for some reason, and then put them both in different families bc haha >:) bruhhh

And so mumbo grows up not knowing that he has other siblings other than Grace and John, and also he doesn’t know he’s a fish bc he didn’t show signs of being a Luca kinnie at first, and so his family assumed he wasn’t one (and then tried to not let him know about the fish thing bc they didn’t want him to feel alienated…hmm I’m sensing a pattern here)

Anyways, he goes to HC, blah blah still doesn’t know he is fish

S7, x learns from Biffa that Jimmy is Mumbo’s twin (he doesn’t know about Liz tho) and so he introduces Jim to Mumbo

All that jazz and such, they are told they’re bros, boom happy

Jimmy shows Mumbo that he’s a fish and Mumbo’s like “?!?!?!?!?!??!?!? WHAT???” And jimmy’s like “? Aren’t you? A fish?” And Mumbo’s like “lol no???” And so jimmy tells him to hop in to the ocean and just like, wait

So he does

And then like, an HOUR later, boom he turns into salmon boy

And jimmy’s like “dang bro 1. I hate salmon with a burning passion but ily bro, and 2. It took you a long time what haha” and the reason for that was because he had never done it before and he was like 24/25, and so he didn’t have the practice of it growing up

Jimmy and him bond some more and Jim returns to Empires, where he learns that Liz is his sister. He pops back to HC and borrows Mumbo to bring him to Empires to introduce him to Lizzie and yay fun family times :DDD

And then Mumbo goes to visit his parents and is like “?? BRUH I’M A FISH” and they’re all like “YOOO finally!” And he’s like “huh?” And they all show him that they’re also Luca kinnies and he’s slightly mad that they didn’t think to like, tell him this important fact, but hey, what’s an AU without a poorly explained plot hole?

SPG Kazooland Master Post

Kazooland is the alternate dimension in the Steam Powered Giraffe Universe.  This post contains various facts and tidbits mentioned by David and Bunny Bennett about it on tumblr and the official SPG websites over the years.  Please feel free to share more information in the reblogs!

By 1897, Peter Walter had unlocked the power of Blue Matter and   subsequently, created an alternate reality he dubbed   Kazooland.

Excerpt from The Story of the Cavalcadium

The Cavalcadium tried to  make a permanent portal to Kazooland in their building, based on Peter Walter I’s studies.

The  Cavalcadium was wiped from existence in an instant, and it took Peter  a few months to realize it had simply vanished. Time and space itself  left a void to forget it ever was.     

The  Cavalcadium building now exists in the seams of Kazooland, and acts  as a hub to many other parts of the dimension. A few doorways even exist on Earth.

  Asininia*             The dark kingdom of Ignatius Becile. Long having taken refuge from Earth, the   black-handed Becile has built a giant city which is depleting Asininia of its   natural resources and precious rock candy veins. His aim is creating an   unstoppable army of candy-powered automatons to consume the universe.

*name is derived from “asinine”

The 8th Dimension of Absolute and Infinite Terror           The only persistent door to the  terrible 8th dimension. Its history is unclear but it is indeed locked and guarded by Jumbo, The Pink Whale With A Top  Hat.* The 8th dimension is notorious for being the place of fermenting  nightmares and evil Lovecraftian Beasts.

*Jumbo can be found in the album The Vice Quadrant, guarding Commander Cosmo and The Necrostar

Horroria

A jagged mountain range of ash and  death, which is primarily a refuge for monsters. A couple of human  settlements exist, but the majority of inhabitants of the continent  are Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, Zombies, Witches, Cultists,  Poltergeists, Man-Eating Hamburgers, and Hamburger-Eating Men.

Hypexion V     

A presumed alien homeworld of the  Hypexions; thin bipedal humanoids with a sweet tooth.

Ironically Foreboding Shaped Islands     

The Chaos Sea marks these bodies of  land as a legend, but time travelers and fortunate explorers speak of  adventurous sailors, pirates, and buried treasure. It is  believed the famous Captain Albert Alexander was the first to have  sailed the Chaos Sea, yet only stories remain.

Lola     

The Hypexion Moon infested with the  diabolical Moon Worms. The Moon Worm Queen is held responsible for  eating a chunk of Hypexion V before she was destroyed, but a newly  born Moon Worm Queen is the talk among the stars. The   talking stars of course.

Lotsasand     

An ancient dust land belonging to the  ancestors of the Kingdom of Set. Though primarily a land for the  outsourcing of dust and camels, the age old tales of Jackal Men,  Living Mummies, and Scarab People still invoke questions of mysticism  in even the most skeptical of skeptics.

Meh     

An icy northern land of Snow Queens and  Mystical Creatures. Many a wise pipe smoking old bearded man tell  stories about this enchanted place, but few are listened to.

Merveille

Merveille is the remains of the once  great Circus Empire, which exploded eons ago and left a watercolored  land of saturated imagination. The inhabitants are mostly the  Speechless Ones, also known as Mimes. It is often described as a  tangible dream, and artists from all over the multiverse have tapped  into its presence for inspiration and escape.

Cities:                    Bip

The capital of  Merveille was named after its founder, and is a favorite spot for  vacation for Peter Walter VI. It was also in Bip that the Great War of 1823 was ended by a mysterious mime with a magical ��kazoo.

New Pieland    

Once a paradise of wilderness, pilgrims  from Old Pieland settled here declaring it New Pieland after their  former continent was completely devoured since it actually lived  up to its namesake. It was quite literally a giant land mass of flaky  crust with a warm gooey appley interior.

New Pieland is home to many American immigrants and many other multiverse settlers.  Humans, Robots, Clowns, Cat People, and Vleeds are just a few of the races you'll find in the melting pot which is New Pieland.

Cities:                    Biscuit Town

Biscuit Town is a famous small  mining town in the eastern part of New Pieland. It is home   primarily to clowns, wizards, and talking animals. Biscuit Town has   been run by Walter Robot The Jon until recently, and was the first  town in New Pieland to elect a robot for Mayor. Currently, in  the Jon's absence the Mayor's Assistant Boft is  struggling with the encroaching rogue nation of Asininia, a  resource-hungry super kingdom of mad scientists and candy-powered  androids.    Preferbia   This large sprawling landscape   of suburbia is a metropolis of 1950's ideals, where the  beautiful residents are protected from the ravages of time by a blue  matter rich force field over the city. Created by a visionary man  from Earth after slipping through an interdimensional rift, Howard  Lloyd saw the potential of the unstable rift and created what some  have called the 1950s utopia of mankind. Those who enter  the city rarely decide to leave the prospect of eternal youth, but  some do choose to escape Preferbia's roving gangs of fish mutants and  frequent attacks by the Hypexion Moon Worms.

Snornia

Snornia is the last remaining haven for  mystical beings. It is cut off from the rest of the world by a  vengeful Dragon God, but those who have seen it speak of a fantastical world of magic and danger, with princesses in towers,   dexterous elves making shoes, and six winged warlocks. Humans  who find ways to enter usually do so to train to become wizards or  dragons, but many are eaten by the Dragon God, and even more give up  and sail to Party Island.

South Adventurica

A largely unexplored tangle of   constantly transforming jungles, swamps, and plains unbound by  any mappable record of time. Adventurers have sought to unlock the   continent's mysteries for years, and its surprises still continue to   surprise avid surprise seekers. Dinosaurs, giant insects, carnivorous   plants, elementals, Forgotten Gods, Bobby Darin, and Santa Claus are   all said to live here, but the only proof of their existence are the   ravaged journals from explorers of the past...

And that captured dinosaur amusement  park off the coast.

Verk     

A rainy settlement of time travelers  from the 1890s. It is separated from the world by an ethereal mist of  aether called "Henry's Breath," long believed to be   generated by the fat ghost of England's Henry the 8th.  Most settlers began traversing the aether via multidimensional  travel from when Colonel P. A. Walter I discovered Blue Matter in  1896, but all matter of being from the multiverse seems to have  leaked through to embrace knowledge, Victorian style, and to tinker with steampunk abominations.

Cities:                    Dandyton

The Capital of Verk is a bustling city  of inventors, scientists, airship pilots, alchemists, airship pilots,  ghosts, and airship pilots. It is home to the Verk Dandy Candy  Factory, many airships, and the Verkian Rift, a dimensional  hub to countless other realities.

The Temecula Rift

Prior to the 2013 Walter Robotics Expo, an accident occurred while 26 y/o Peter Walter VI accidentally sealed a Blue Matter Rift that he was trying to open for high speed inter-dimensional travel between Earth and Kazooland.  The result was an explosion that singularly hit Peter Walter VI in his face.  He now wears an iconic keyhole mask to hide whatever the results of the explosion may have been.

rapunzel & pascal had a fun day at the bay area rennaissance festival!

this cosplay is maybe around 95% done, but wearable so i brought it out for a test run! the entire cosplay is made by me & historically inspired by the 1600’s. the wig is a silky delilah combined with a jumbo braid & lace front portion from arda wigs. the base pattern for my stays was by american duchess for simplicity, but i modified to look slightly more like earlier pairs of bodies. i dyed both the brocade for the bodice and the silk in the overskirt and hand-embroidered a little chain into the hem of the underskirt. i plan on adding more embroidered & ribbon details to this costume in the future, as well as a longer braid for a photoshoot, but for now this was a good practice run! 🌸☀️💖

The Biggest Regret

A/N: Hi again! I rise from the dead! This is for the fanders angst challenge and it’s “Roman Singing”, which isn’t really that hard. I’ve had this idea in my head for a while, and now I’m using it for this. Forgive any mistakes, as it is 4:30 in the morning, and I don’t really care about perfection atm. Hope you enjoy! Good luck!

Romans fingers lightly plucked the guitar strings as he began preparing his song. He cleared his throat, steadying his trembling fingers on the frets.

“Hey there, sweet Virgil, what’s it like in New York City? I’m a thousand miles away, but boy, tonight you look so pretty.” Roman blushed, the lyrics coming directly from his heart. He thought of his love, how he smiled so softly, his bangs falling over his eyes, a light blush over his cheeks and ears. He looked beautiful. “Yes you do. Times Square can’t shine as bright as you. I swear it’s true.”

A smile crept on Romans face as he gained more confidence. “Hey there, darling Virgil, don’t you worry about the distance. I’m right there if you get lonely, give this song another listen. Close your eyes, listen to my voice, it’s my disguise. I’m by your side.” His smile grew in size as he thought of the few times Virgil would sing. His voice was sweet and light, one of an angel. He was his angel. His light. Roman didn’t know what he would do without him.

Roman winced at the idea of the upcoming lyrics. His fingers began to shake over the strings as he strummed to the song. “Hey there, my love, I know times are getting hard, but just believe me, boy, someday I’ll pay the bills with this guitar.” Faith. One of the things he admired about Virgil. His faith in him and his musical abilities. No one had ever done that. They’d all said he should’ve given up and gotten a real job. Not Virgil. No. He was different. “We’ll have it good. We’ll have the life we knew we would. My word is good.”

“Hey there, my angel, I’ve got so much left to say If every simple song I wrote to you Would take your breath away I’d write it all Even more in love with me you’d fall We’d have it all.”

Late summer evenings, the sun setting, the weather starting to cool down, and it was just him and Virgil. He would play his guitar and sing all sorts of things for his love. If Roman could, he would sing forever just to see that smile on Virgil’s face. He’d give anything for that.

“Oh it’s what you do to me Oh it’s what you do to me Oh it’s what you do to me Oh it’s what you do to me”

Roman remembered the summer. The summer before they had to part for a long time. It was spent with sweet, small kisses, laughter, ice cream, swings, long walks, and just being together. It was the best summer he’d ever spent. If only it would last forever.

Caught up in his thoughts, he realized he messed up on a chord and cursed at himself. He couldn’t mess up. Not for Virgil. He deserved the best, and Roman would try his hardest to make sure he gave it to him. “A thousand miles seems pretty far, but they’ve got planes and trains and cars. I’d walk to you if I had no other way.” He would. He did. Once, Romans car had broken down, and he had no other way to get to Virgil. Sure, he was scolded, but it was worth it. So, so very worth it. Every second he got to spend with him.

“Our friends would all make fun of us, and we’ll just laugh along because we know that none of them have felt this way. Virgil, I can promise you that by the time that we get through, the world will never ever be the same….and you’re to blame.”

The only thing Virgil could ever be blamed for was that. Was making the world greater. He didn’t deserve it. The blame. He always had the weight of the world over his shoulders, and Roman was ignorant, blind, and foolish.

“Hey there, sweet Virgil, you be good and don’t you miss me. Two more years and you’ll be done with school, and I’ll be making history like I do. You’ll know it’s all because of you. We can do whatever we want to. Hey there, Delilah, here’s to you

This one’s for you.”

Virgil suffered from anxiety and depression, and Roman knew that. Yet he still acted like everything would be alright. Like words meant nothing.

How stupid of him

His trembling fingers stopped strumming as the song slowly came to an end. Roman got out of his chair and placed the guitar back on it’s stand. He moved through all the instruments and recording mumbo-jumbo in the room to reach the door.

The hallways were so silent, you could hear a pin drop. It was after hours on a Friday, so the safest bet was that the majority of the staff had left. Roman walked through the building, a place where he had spent many evenings drafting music to play. He was a fairly well known musician now, the years of practicing had payed off. It was humorous to think the well off singer once lived practically on the streets, moving town to town, ignoring all responsibilities. Now he had people who looked up to him, who aspired to be like him.

This is what he gave his love up for?

This is the life he traded for his dearest Virgil?

Roman took out his phone and skimmed through his photos. He was truly the world’s biggest idiot.

And he would never forget it.

I love every single part of you, the flaws and imperfections as well. I must be the luckiest guy in the world. I’m gonna miss you Roman. I’m gonna miss staying up late watching cheesy scary movies.
