NEW ROTTMNT OC REF PIC (Leo’s twin)

So! Here’s what our boy will look like during the story! I’m sure you’re all curious about him, and while I would LOVE to tell you everything about him, I simply can’t as I want you all to be surprised when reading this fic that will come out soon.

But, I can definitely tell you his name and a tiny bit of a background on him.

His details:

Name: Three (he has another name but I won’t spoil it yet)

His background: So Three was created by Baron Draxum like his brothers, he is the biological twin brother of Leo. They share the same DNA (both turtle and human DNA, unlike the other turtles who only share the human DNA of Splinter). The lab exploded as it does in canon, but Splinter couldn’t get to Three on time and Draxum managed to get his hands on the turtle instead. Years go by and Draxum has raised Three to become the warrior he created him to be (although he def doesn’t deserve the father of the year award, cause Draxum is an asshole in this fic). Long story short, Three meets his brothers after years of separation, Three knew there was other turtles but had no idea he actually had a twin (Leo).

Aaand that’s about all I’ll give you for now. If you wanna know more about him, you’ll just have to wait BUT you’re free to ask questions about him or about the story as long as I can answer it without spoiling large bits of the fic. You’re also free to doodle/animate/etc him and send me your creations of the boy. You can also request headcanons and oneshots, etc, of him if you want a more insightful look on his personality and whatnot.

basically, these two boys were like.. acquaintances with each other during undergrad. they never spoke much, and obviously simon didn’t know archie’s secret identity. that all changed when one day, archie was severely injured during a pretty rough fight and literally couldn’t get home, so he picked the closest apartment and collapsed on the fire escape in front of the window.

obviously, it ended up being simon’s apartment who was… very confused. he took in this random person, patched him up, realized it was archie from school and from then on he kind of became archie’s personal nurse (great practice for med school, everyone at his program was shocked at how quickly he picked up suturing) and also his closest friend (possibly more….. but that's neither here nor there)

eeeee i love this ask!!! tysm for asking this, i def need it to help develop benny more :3 i’m gonna try to answer as many questions as possible

5) exactly thirty three minutes. benny did so as a fun challenge for themselves and ended up having to get up because his legs and pelvis started to ache

6) benny laughs pretty easily! he uses humor as a coping mechanism and you can’t be sad if you’re laughing! at least, that’s what they think

8) it’s very hard to earn benny’s trust. they grew up getting harassed and bullied for being half-solennian (see here for context) so they learned to be on guard with new people. benny doesn’t actually trust many people; sure, he can buddy buddy with many people but trusting them is a whole other story. it’s very easy for benny to lose trust in people, especially if they find out he’s half-solennian and react negatively to it

Luca x Aurora

Mr. and Mrs. Changretta from my fic My Sun My Moon and All My Stars. I've answered questions about their backstory in comments which I've included below the cut for anyone curious about their early days.

As in canon, Luca worked for the Spinietta family as a low level soldier when he first came to America to avoid prosecution for his crimes in England. When the Sabinis took over, Luca was promoted through the ranks and took over protection. His temperament and general inclination toward rage and violence worked to his advantage in this arena bc people were afraid of him. As we see in my fic tho, this approach is incompatible with business. His education on the streets makes him far more likely to employ brute force than carefully engineered strategy as Aurora has been taught to do. Mr. Sabini-- and by extension Aurora--appreciate more cloak and dagger tactics to overpower their enemies. Luca just isn't capable of this sort of nuance.

Aurora would have met him eventually and begun dating him due to his "bad boy" reputation bc she's lived a sheltered life of privilege. Her family is wealthy and she's had every opportunity in life, except the chance to experience a few thrills. Luca is the first man who is willing to stand up to her so Aurora believes him to be her equal and Mr. Sabini likes him bc he appears to be so fiercely loyal to the family and his daughter. I imagine their courtship moved quickly bc Luca was quite charming. After the marriage, Mr. Sabini gave him more authority and their reputation as a power couple grew. The abuse didn't begin right away. In fact, it's probably only been happening for a period of two years or less and Aurora naively believes it's something she can change/reverse bc she loves him. Everyone has a weak spot and Luca is hers. 

She def makes a conscious effort to protect him from her father's wrath, partly bc she doesn't want to disappoint the family, but also bc she is beginning to believe Luca's hateful words about running to daddy for everything. She wants to prove she can make her marriage work under her own power. It's just another way to let him isolate and abuse her further tho.

Obligatory gonna talk about my stuff under the cut cause I’m SHY but yes!! I have one more resident of my self ship city!! Her name is Rosalie (Luffy calls her Rosie) and she’s a fairy!! In my little lore I have it so fairies are hidden from the world and are only known to the outside via folktales and all that so they’re essentially wiped off the face of the earth, known to no one except probably the gorosei. And the fairies have grown to fear and despise outsiders because they were the ones who attempted to wipe them out before the void century, but Rosalie is a curious fairy and fast forward she has a big crush on on gasp!! A human!!! A pirate nonetheless!! Luffy has her in a chokehold 😔 she gives off Ariel from the little mermaid vibes in terms of personality and she’s like super important to her fairy homeland but I’m not gonna dive too deep into that!! And she has a devil fruit that allows her to control all aspects of nature within her domain AND HERES SOME PICS ENOUGH YAPPING FROM ME!! The first two are from @rainnartt the second two from @noicevibes (everyone commission them btw) and the last one I did!!

Hi coff-in! :D Thank you so much for sending an ask! ^-^ Don’t worry abt asking a lot of questions! It means a lot to me that people wanna hear abt my ocs <3

1) Alice was hardcore into their science classes (minus chemistry) Anything biology related, they especially loved. Though they also liked algebra, and would often help Ashley out with homework… and sometimes helped her cheat. Anything for their big sis :) They also took a forensics class, so they know more than they should (in Andrew’s opinion) about disposing of evidence/corpses

2) Def love ranting about their special interests/hyperfixations! Alice has that autism adhd swag lol. There was this book abt dinosaurs in their high school’s library that they loved so much, they bought a copy of the book for themselves. Unfortunately that book is now ashes thanks to that fire at the apartment :/ Other than dinos, I think they’re also heavily into goth music and gothic literature. Totally not projecting, but Jekyll and Hyde is their fave cause it made them realize they were trans :)

3) Prom was ok. Crowds and parties aren’t really their thing, but they do love having an opportunity to get all dolled up! I think they convinced Ashley to go with, if at least so they can make fun of other ppl there together. (Also so they could see Ashley dolled up as well) Idk if their school had this, but my school had a thing where you could bring a plus one from another school in the district/21 or younger. If their school had that, then them and Ashley definitely did everything they could to convince Andrew to go with as well. Alice made sure to drown them, especially Ashley, in compliments abt their outfits. Alice probably also did a little prom-posal for their sibs, in the privacy of home tho. I like to think the 3 of them went to some cheap ice cream place afterwards while still in their prom getups. Here’s what I think their dress would’ve looked like:

I absolutely adore lia, she is one of my most tragic characters and I spend a lot of time mulling over her wrecked emotional state, her doll look to her design is very very fun for me to draw and I 100% feel you on the doll enjoyment, I've been following an account where this guy unboxes these ball jointed dolls and shows off their assembly and the outfits n stuff they come with, the modeling of some the dolls he has are so beautiful !! I'd love to have a mask that looks like some of the dolls faces I've seen

I've also been noticing a bit of a doll/model haver streak in my character tastes too as of late (Aesop, Philippe, Yukito, Scaramouche, heck if you go way back to my homestuck days you have Dirk)(also I'm interested to see what you come to think of Philippe ! he's quite an unusual character to work with and most certainly don't like him LOL so I'm always curious about what influence my posts have on the fandom's take of him)(I'm glad you enjoy my posts ! I always pity my followers for how inconsistent my blog is sometimes GHSDDGJ)

I think Lia would love to have a pet tbh, she loves animals and has an extremely gentle touch so anything that comes into her care is always well-loved. Her loneliness goes beyond just company alone, she has a very terrible and complex living situation with no clear solution so most of her sadness comes with wallowing in not being able to do anything, but I think having a pet to talk to would make her happy. I think she'd enjoy having birds, canaries and other finches especially would delight her. I also think a big fluffy cat like a mainecoon or a ragdoll would be so lovely.

how do you come up with your character backstories? they're all so detailed and well thought out and you always seem to have an abundance of fun and interesting trivia for all your characters as well. would you be willing to give tips to someone who has a hard time coming up with anything beyond like. the basics lol 😔👉👈

WAH THANK YOU FOR SENDING THIS 🥺 i always feel a little embarrassed talking abt my ocs because i tend to start and never stop lol, and theyre all very special to me so its a sort of vulnerable extension of myself in a way. even if im only sharing with them with the lovely ppl who live in my phone its always a little stressful, so i really appreciate that they left a good impression!!

as for tips, i just wanna say as a disclaimer that i am very chronically online. ive also had multiple periods of extended free time in which ive been able to really hyperfocus on certain media and the characters i want to create within them. ALSO, a lot of my ocs ive had in development for several years and theyve just evolved naturally. ashara, for example, i made when i was 19, and im 26 now lol. ik this is cliche to hear, but i rly do think its important to go at your own pace when developing characters and do whatever makes YOU happy, before looking to anybody elses ocs , because we all have different lifestyles and creative processes and whatnot ❤️

that being said, i can def share a few things that helped me! firstly, i always start developing characters based solely on vibes and sensory stimuli, so i'd highly recommend making a pinterest moodboard for them and/or a music playlist! pinterest esp, since its such a great way to start brainstorming and getting a visual idea of what you want your character to look like/embody/represent. its a great place for inspiration in general.

secondly, one of the most important steps in developing any character is motivation. what does your oc WANT? why? what would they do to get it? should they get it? would would happen if they got it vs if they didnt? do they ACTUALLY want it or just think they do? answer those questions and you've already got a pretty solid foundation to work with. another really useful piece of advice a friend gave me several years ago was this: "what is something your character believes in at the start of their journey, that they no longer believe by the end of it?" for example, my warden oc elspeth believes in traditional heroics and black-and-white morality. by the end of dao she does not. theres a LOT to explore between point A and point B.

lastly, when i make ocs its very important to me personally that they feel inextricably TIED to the media they belong to. this is completely optional ofc, bc lots of people enjoy characters they can drag and drop into different stories, which is fine! for me though, i like taking cues from the world around them. it makes them feel natural to the plot, the setting, the canon characters, etc, because it helps me pin down some of their more hyperspecific quirks. there are a few ways to go about this.

the easiest way imo is to look at any major Core Issues within whatever media you're working with. like real life, people have OPINIONS about ISSUES and POLITICS lol, and those opinions are usually influenced by their own lived experience or personal belief system. so if you can identify a few key figures, factions or events in your story, and give your character an Opinion or Reaction to those things, it can pretty naturally be evolved into a unique and interesting backstory. to use elspeth as an example again: "elspeth dislikes orlais". thats a political opinion about a faction. and then to expand on why? "because her family/country fought in the occupation and she loves her family/country". from there we learn she's nationalistic and places value of lineage. then you could say — "she enjoys history and geography because it allows her to better appreciate her country. she cares deeply about all ferelden peoples, and has studied techniques from avaar and chasind communities". and you can keep branching out and expanding from there. and once you've exhausted that thread, move on to a diff one! "elspeth is nervous around mages". why? "because her religion tells her to and shes never thought to question it." why? etc etc etc.

alternatively, i find it really helpful to find an overlining theme in the type of media im working with/creating. sometimes its easy (baldurs gate 3 has a confirmed theme of autonomy vs authority, da4 will have a confirmed theme of regret, etc) but if its not as clear cut or your designing your own original world, its fine and great to take your own creative interpretation of things and run with it. for example, origins for me is very reminiscent of loss of innocence and war. inquisition is, to me, about personhood and losing it to your own mythology. once you've got a theme it can really help help translate into a cohesive story you want to tell and a character you want as an outlet. and since the character will be thematiclly relevant, you might also find it easier for them to connect to the cast/setting/story etc.

sorry this is so long, but i hope you gained something out of all this word salad lmao. one more thing i want to mention — its also fine to NOT do any of this. sometimes i get overwhelmed feeling like i have to come up with a unique/multi-faceted character every time i go into characterization, and virtually 100% of the time its Never that deep. if you find yourself getting stressed or overwhelmed, remind yourself that its perfectly fine to dream up a simple and straightforward character who makes you happy, and let the rest come to you as your character goes forth into the story. sometimes simplicity is best because you arent held down by the restrictions you've placed on them yet.

I'm more than happy to give recommendations (and as my username might suggest, I'm highly biased toward one of those recommendations). A couple of questions to consider about what you like about BG3 that you might find in other games:

Do you like the darker parts of BG3 (i.e., Durge) & don't mind outdated mechanics & graphics (and/or modding)?

Check out Dragon Age: Origins. Your classic 'save the fantasy world against impossible odds' RPG, with a certain apocalyptic darkness as you and your ragtag team of heroes scramble to defeat an invasion of blighted monstrosities called darkspawn. Mind the Mature rating especially for Origins, but I personally think that it's the best introduction to the Dragon Age setting and lore-- your character's backstory is deeply meaningful and does a wonderful job contextualizing your unique perspective in a world that is much more politically rich (if often insufferably center-left) than what BG3 offers.

It also came out in 2009, which is as evident in its occasional deep dives into misogyny as it is in its low-def textures and agonizingly slow combat. If you decide to go within Origins, you can send me another message & I'd be happy to offer some mod recs for making the game look & feel more contemporary (and with more bisexuality, which is always important).

Check out Dragon Age 2. You play a refugee trying to provide for their family in a city marred by deep political inequity and social injustice. The game is of a smaller scale than any other in the series, focusing on just one city, and you have less flexibility in designing your character, but the story built within those limitations is excellent. Not for nothing, but Cyrus was originally an OC I made for DA2. The companions are splendid, the romances are exquisite, it very much has the BG3 tadfools vibe of a collection of wounded people (who are sometimes at each others' throats) trying their very best to make it through a world that is, at every turn, against them.

Gameplay-wise, the combat is much less real-time strategy like in Origins and much more fluid (& imo fun). The graphics are also significantly better than Origins, though far below BG3's. The game can feel quite repetitive, as it reuses assets, level designs, and enemies frequently (it was in development for less than two years...), and if you love the blank canvas of Tav, Hawke might feel too narrow/prescriptive.

Do you like BG3's turn-based combat, TTRPG mechanics, and strategic gameplay?

Check out Owlcat's Pathfinder games! I've only played Wrath of the Righteous personally, but I've heard good things about Kingmaker too. Their gameplay has a steeper learning curve than BG3, because Pathfinder is a more complicated system and the games cater in part to intense strategic minmaxers. BUT there are many build guides online, the game has plenty of difficulty settings (and the Toy Box mod lets you finagle things further), and I've been getting by just fine on Normal using the companion auto-builds & making my own haphazard build choices for Cyrus.

And there is a strong role-play component. WOTR's setting feels very much like the Forgotten Realms/Sword Coast of BG3 (though, for lack of a better term, de-WOTC-ified). While the story feels a bit cliche at times (magic chosen one rallying an army against the tide of darkness-- here in the form of demons), the deep lore and dark tone keep it interesting & fun. The companions and their romances are also excellent (...dare I say I find the romance writing to be more sensual & intimate than BG3's sex scenes???), and I especially love how Owlcat handles & writes inter-party dynamics.

Coming from BG3, I should also warn you that there is a VERY limited CC. Even more limited than BG3's slider-less presets. You don't get up close & personal with your PC that often, as the game is always in an isometric perspective, and that may be a turn-off too.

(All the Dragon Age games have good but not imo excellent character creators-- more facial customization than BG3, no body customization, and plenty of mods for expanding hair options)

More interested in action (maybe even very intense action), exploring, poking & prodding an open world?

We've reached the edges of my personal fantasy RPG knowledge, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Elder Scroll games and the FromSoftware games like Elden Ring. I'm neither a hardcore action nor an open-world RPG person, but if you are, I think these games could serve you well!

I am also always a supporter of indie games, so here's one much smaller fantasy recommendation. Porpentine Charity Heartscape's With Those We Love Alive is an emotionally intense text-based game about trying to live in a repressive, surreal fantasy world. And while they aren't games you can sink hundreds of hours into, I'd encourage you to browse itch.io and find fantasy games there too!
