DRAGON PRINCE S7 SPOILER ALERT:

No they did not ruin Ezran’s character this season. They’ve been building up to it for a while now.

Look, I am not a person who enjoys seeing an innocent character mentally snap when confronted with the horrors of the world, but in Ezran’s case it feels inevitable given what he’s gone through and where the story is going.

Remember in Season 4 when he gives this speech:

He then says that he chooses to move forward towards peace, instead of falling into a cycle of violence.

But that doesn’t mean he’s not still angry.

This characterization of Ezran isn’t back peddling his arc, it’s an inevitable boiling over of all the hurt and pain he’s been dealing with. It doesn’t help that the only family he has left totally ditched him when he needed him in his time of need *cough* Callum *cough*

Luckily he had Aanya, who is probably the only person who understands what he’s going through.

This doesn’t make Ezran a bad person, and it doesn’t mean his character is ruined. It just means he’s not exempt from letting his feelings get the best of him, like any other human (or elf).
