talking about the topic of animated movies not Hitting, I accidentally reminded myself of one time on twitter, I think around the time that Raya came out?? I was poopooing on how much the dragon looks like elsa, and then talked about how I wish 2d animated and hand animated films were still The Medium instead of nothing but the highest resolution skin texture fur textured 3d animated films bc I'm tired of seeing it, etc etc and then someone who I was not mutuals with, they must've been someone working under the disney IP in some form, and must've either done some work on raya or just worked on 3d animated projects in general, replied to me SEVERAL TIMES as if I was subtweeting them, with something to the tone of "just say you hate me and you think my art is trash" and I think about that ALL the time

#I wish I could find what they said bc it was so much weirder than what I paraphrased. but this was years ago #like I had accidentally REALLY. bothered them and they thought the tweets were directed straight at them.#they were following me apparently (unfollowed me after that. obviously. bc they decided that I hated them specifically)#(bc I didn't like the dragon design from raya and I was fantasizing about it being 2d animated)#they deleted the tweets like 24 hours later but I was literally like. finally finished my animal crossing island. :3 it took 2 years and over 425 hours to complete, but i had a lot of fun. the dream address is 6841-0314-8099 if the text isn't legible. if i can inspire even one person to pick up the game again and start from scratch, my mission will be accomplished. feel free to steal any ideas or builds, i know i took a lot of inspiration from other people while making this.

#also if you do decide to try to do your own island for the love of god google animal crossing treasure islands #i would not have been able to do this the hard way and it would not have been fun #technically i wanna update once i figure out my real actual weather seed but the weeds are how i like them right now #and time skipping is liable to screw them up

How did you get so good at animating and drawing? Aside from practice, what techniques do you use? What software do you use?

I only know the basics/fundamentals of both drawing and animation.

For drawing, I've carried out lessons about the Elements and principles of design, the history of graphics design, traditional drawing techniques, color theory, anatomy, character design, blah blah blah. Lots of info I still do my best to practice/put in my art. If y'all notice me animating gifs then it's bc I have time to do so... ( I'm in term break until late July ) They're likely short, but it's through animation blocking, timing, and incorporating both in-betweens and tweening.

I've used Adobe Animate/After Effects for school projects, sometimes for doodles only, I currently use Clip Studio Paint bc it's where I'm more comfy with ^^ Maybe someday I'll be able to afford Toon Boom hehe.

Look I love the OP anime, like it has Issues Galore and yet despite that it's an absolute treasure with so much artistic value and beauty to it, there's just as much good to the anime as there is bad and I unironically love it so, so very much

But it never fails to crack me up how much Toei just hated Crocodile's guts and went out of their way to disrespect the man at every turn during Impel Down/Marineford

Like look at this panel of Crocodile clashing against Mihawk to defend Luffy

The power, the sheer force of the impact, I can HEAR the way metal meets metal in this panel (and not because of the sound effect that's blocking half the bloody art). The way Crocodile jumps in out of nowhere to completely dominate the shot to everyone's (Luffy, Mihawk and us the readers) surprise and asserting his dominance, hiding Luffy from Mihawk's sight entirely and showing that he is force to be reckoned with. The movement in the art, the dynamic composition and posing, the dimension and depth, it's SUCH a good action panel, it's so fucking good
