Most evil thing I've thought of today
Recently I've been playing with the coffee loaf which Dylan Hollis made on his channel.
Now, due to certain circumstances my spouse is having to work very long hours, and will for the next month. I like to be supportive and sometimes send in baked goods.
My spouse has directly forbidden me from sending in the coffee loaf, on account of it having as much caffeine as 24 cups of coffee and this is to most people a lot.
But what if I did?
What if...
This week I make it normal, with 1/2 cup of instant coffee granules.
Next week, I make it with 3/4 of cup of instant coffee.
The week after that, the loaf will have a full cup of instant coffee - equivalent to 48 cups of brewed coffee.
And then... and then... I switch to decaf.

I've found I'm quite sensitive to most stimulants which is cool and cost-efficient for some things like mdma and so on but caffeine in normal amounts just sucks. I've felt much better since I switched to drinking decaf (which for those who don't know still has a small amount of caffeine in it, about ~1-10% compared to regular coffee), which I only did because I was trialing ritalin since the combination fucked me up, but I decided not to switch back after and it has been nice. I don't get that caffeine energy crash in the afternoon and the anxiety and other adverse effects is not nearly as much, but it's still just enough to wake me up a bit and get me moving a bit better. and I don't feel dependent on it at all anymore. I can go over somewhere and not have any coffee in the morning and feel fine it's whatever. would feel sooo tired and find myself craving a cuppa joe if I had to do that before.

Due to the realisation that my blood pressure is very high at about 180/110, my mum has “suggested” that I stop with caffeine, so now I’m drinking decaff tea and coffee.
I haven’t been able to find decaff Yorkshire tea at my local shops so I’m having to resort to tetley.

I’m an eepy girly today 🥱 but as a chemistry person I do have fun facts anyway.
Did you know decaffeinated coffees still usually have caffeine in them? Gas chromatography studies have confirmed that decaffeinated coffees still contain caffeine, albeit less so than their caffeinated counterparts.
