I have a friend who is trying to come up with a list of characters who are arguably villains who have done terrible things, but who are still widely loved by the mainstream audience. He's come up with a few, but most of them are men, and he asked me if I could think of any female characters who have done terrible shit who are loved by mainstream audiences. And I was like... honestly? I don't know? Because women characters aren't even allowed to be *complex* without being ripped to shreds, let alone *villains* and still loved by mainstream audiences. And my exposure to so much fandom in the years where I was more heavily involved were all on Tumblr, and I just wouldn't consider most of the folks I followed to be mainstream audience members?

Like I mentioned Cersei Lannister as a possibility, and my friend was like "... people *hated* Cersei." and yeah that's definitely true, but I also followed some folks who were really into her (even though I wasn't into her myself).

My friend mentioned Yzma and Cruella de Vil as possibilities, because they were funny. I mentioned Debbie from Addams Family Values, and my friend was like "Really? I thought she was an annoying bitch, and I didn't like her at all." And I'm just sitting here thinking "... Did I spend too many years on Tumblr? 'Cause everyone I know thinks Debbie is fabulous on some level." My friend suggested Regina George, and I was like "I hated Regina? So, Regina is a good character for this list, but Debbie isn't?" And he said that they were on different levels in his head. And I'm just like... bruh, I don't know what you want from me right now? I don't know what to add to this list. My other suggestion was Morgana from Merlin? But my friend hasn't seen Merlin and can't speak on that one. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I blame @random-emerald-thoughts for this one and it wasn't totally her fault, but she's getting the blame because of a post that she reblogged about Debbie and my brain works weird ways this is an Addams family what if.

What if Debbie embraced the addams? What if she didn't have to marry fester in order to belong to the family who accepted her for the first time in her life? Who thought she was just like them. What if she actually pushed past her trauma and realized that she was part of the family that was creepy and cooky and weird and came home for the first time.

No romance just acceptance. OK OK minor romance but not between Debbie and Fester.

Like since Mark Williams played both Arthur Weasley and Brian Williams I thought oh hi hello Arthur has a twin now but has denounce magic and eventually does regain his brother (after he punches him, look it was along time coming). While also playing with the family trees we love to mess with a family tree in this house.

It's incomplete because the muse has left the building but one day i hope to get it at least done so I can feel accomplished.
