This is 1000% something that Zifnab would do.
Completely by accident.
Why haven’t more people written about magic-users going to the moon? I can think of a single solitary book I’ve read that had dragons living there, but that’s it. What about the magicians who want to explore, the wizards who want to get away from it all, the sorcerors who screw up royally?
There are so many reasons for magic-using characters to wind up on the moon, and I would love to read about them.

"Tell me a secret?"
Mike asks, like he's come to do every day, late at night, when the darkness can swallow the guilt and the regret rushing out of their hearts, when their sides press together, the floor long forgotten, ever since the first Will, please, come up here.
Will is a terrible person.
I'm in love with you. I'm having visions. I'm in love with you. I'm not really having nightmares, Vecna is tempting me with a version of you that loves me back. I'm in love with you.
“I think my death is the easiest solution to everything. The Upside Down will die with me."
Will can hear Mike swallow next to him.
Will, I would let the world burn down to ashes if it meant keeping you in it."
or
They're back in Hawkins, everything is the way it's always been, except - yeah, it's still the middle of an apocalypse, Will is having nosebleeds and Mike would sacrifice the world for him but is still losing him.
there’s one bed, forehead touch and protective mike while will slowly succumbs into madness. enjoy! updates every monday x ALSO THIS IS A LATE BDAY GIFT TO THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE TAL ILYSM ILL BE MEETING MY DEADLINES FROM NOW ON I SWEAR

[NOTE: I wanted to complete this post before posting it, but turns out I don't have the time to... So I will post it unfinished, and the rest will become a separate post]
I am still not done with my "fatness in fantasy" posts!
Another topic of discussion, an element which appears from time to time in fantasy: important weight gain as a sign of a character's major change.
I have here two examples to talk about. One I am not very familiar with, the other I am more familiar with.
The first is from the "Dragonlance" series. This is a D&D affiliated book series created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, the acclaimed authors of fantasy series such as the Deathgate Cycle. It is famous for being a nice and comfortable traditional, basic, almost cliche "D&D fantasy", but written well-enough to be pleasant to go through. I can't tell you if it is true, I haven't had time to find a copy of these books yet, I rely on confessions made to me - I did read other series of the duo, such as the Deathgate cycle or The Rose of the Prophet, and I quite enjoyed them. (About the Rose of the Prophet, there's a fat character of note - it is an Arabian Nights-styled fantasy series with a lot of jinn/genies a la Aladdin, and while the genies keep alternating between huge muscular hunks, youthful slender sprites and sexy women, there is one genie noted to be obese and who is constantly described for his many rolls and chins and how he keeps jiggling with every move. Unfortunately he fits into the "fat character as a joke" category since he is a lazy, cowardly, gluttonous and spoiled genie who is just a secondary character and the butt of many jokes...)
Back to Dragonlance, the main group of protagonists are your classical D&D party. One character is Caramon, the typical D&D "Barbarian", as the tall, handsome, muscular and armored hero. He has a brother, Raistlin, the wizard/sorcerer of the group. Dragonlance begins with a first trilogy of books (the Chronicles trilogy) - and at the end of this trilogy, Raistlin "betrays" the group of heroes, so to speak, by turning towards evil. His brother Caramon, who was always loyal and loving, even quite co-dependant to Raistlin, unable to let go of his brother, even offered him to join him into evil (it's a thing of "As long as I am with you, everything is fine")... Only for Raistlin to just reject him big time and leave him alone.
Cut to the sequel trilogy (the Legends trilogy), and this loss has reduced Caramon to wreck of a man as he became a lazy alcoholic and grew massively fat. A part of the trilogy is him being forced back into health and shape to return to his heroic self of the past - with moments such as him trying on his own armor and insisting to want to be dressed in it despite him being too fat for it (a scene quite similar to how Robert Baratheon in the first ASoIaF book also tries to fit in his armor only to realize he is way too fit for it). Again, however, we have this recurring thing of the fat character being considered for joke and humiliation, and a sign of weakness, mixed with a bit of misery-writing, as the woman he lives with suffers quite a bit from Caramon's bad behavior and unhealthy lifestyle.
(Also, if you are interested, Rose of the Prophet is one of the earliest fantasy series with an openly gay wizard, alongside the Heralds of Valdemar series a few decades earlier. Unfortunately, both are also representation of this early type of the "tragic gay character" as both suffer from stuff like losing their lovers, not getting the man they love, or suffering from discrimination and rejection despite being good guys and obvious heroes - but at the same time, in fantasy series of the 70s and 80s, what do you expect? "The Fionavar Tapestry" is also an early example of the queer wizard, but it doesn't really count because A) the wizard in question and his lover have a happy end, but that's because B) their gay relationship is never explicitely stated and only very, VERY strongly implied)
Jumping back to the comparison example: the "Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser" series.
[And that's where I had to cut my post short. I hope I'll have time to write this part later - pictures will be included!]

sender collapses into receiver's arms - @malumxsubest
It was with quick work that he dispatched the hunters that had come for her, that had wounded her with...something. He used Weaves of fire to incinerate them and sent a couple more through Deathgates that quickly cut off their screams. Were they surprised to find him there? They hadn't expected to be taken out so quickly. Not when they had dealt with her already. Once the night resumed a silent song, the smell of charred flesh lingering in the air, he returned his attention to her in his arms.
It felt strange to hold her up, to feel her body slacken in his arms. It was something that he had never expected to feel, that loss of strength that had always seemed so grandiose within her. Her strength had always gotten her through their most brutal of endings together and yet there she was, laying seemingly incapacitated in his arms. Carefully he lowered her to the ground, keeping her draped across his lap as he gently took her face into his hand. Suddenly she seemed such a small thing without the weight of centuries in her eyes or the denial of whatever this was that existed between them. He cradled her gently and softly called out her name, a thick of emotion being swallowed, and her features blurring there before him. He whispered to her to wake up but cursed the fact that he had never blossomed in Healing. How was he to wake her up now?

If i understand the online gossip correctly, recently at Gencon Margaret Weis confirmed that a rumor circulating for years is true- Larry Elmore did pay a male stripper to model for the cover of one of the Darksword Trilogy books.
Between that and the unfamous Raistlin snake-bondage illustration (for the Dark Queen Of Krynn video game), it has become more urgently alarming that there is no bizzarely skimpy Haplo official art.
The grave task of remedying this fatal oversight has been left to me...
LUCKILY, I AM VERY GAY.
The way Patryn runes offer total protection, surely some runners would favour more.... minimalistic armors, right?

8+11 for the ask game!! :]
8. Oldest WIP
Oldest WIP that's still active? Knights and Novellas or Artistry Incomplete, if AI still counts as active. Knights and Novellas is six years old, just about, and AI is... eight?
The Final Deathgate was my first project with my current google drive, and I wrote that when I was 14. I'm currently 23.
11. Books and/or authors who influenced you the most
Tamora Pierce, my brother and sister, Aristotle and Dante, and I'm sure there are more but they are not coming to mind right now.

@throned sent: ∗ 22﹕ sender finds receiver [ injured / bloodied ] . / from darion, since this just feels right for koltira!
This was a disaster.
For a time, the Ebon Blade held the line against the demons, wave after wave of the creatures crashing against their blades and faltering. But even in the face of their continued success, Koltira had felt something...off. A hint of intuition that hadn't left him in death, telling him that the tides were about to turn, and not in their favor. For a time, he had tried to ignore the feeling that hung over his head like a guillotine, but that proved to be a mistake, as a Legion ship suddenly just appeared overhead. Koltira had barely had time to yell at those around him to find cover before the blasting began, fire raining down from the ship above.
The line broke at the arrival of that ship, sending both Horde and Alliance racing for cover, Koltira counted among that number. While the Ebon Blade had no qualms about fighting the worst of things to give others time to flee, there was no fighting a ship like that, not from the ground. Koltira raced towards cover but found himself short of protection as another shot impacted the ground not far behind him. The resulting explosion sent the Death Knight hurtling through the air, crashing some fifteen yards ahead of where he had been standing, and dazed to boot. It took him a moment to haul himself to his feet, ears ringing so loudly that the battlefield was eerily quiet.
Deciding things had progressed too far in the Legion's favor, Koltira threw up his hands, dark energy pouring from his fingertips. This was no offensive spell though, for quickly the dark energy coalesced into a gateway, a Deathgate, and Koltira stepped through before another shot could send him flying. Stepping into Acherus, it was plain the battle had gone wrong, Koltira covered in dust, debris, and no small amount of blood. He had barely gotten both his feet on the stone floor of the Necropolis before finding himself face to face with none other than Darion Mograine, Highlord of the Ebon Blade. "Highlord." Koltira addressed the other, straightening himself as much as he was able after what he had been through. "My apologies, but the front has been broken. A Legion ship appeared overhead and began to bombard our forces, forcing a retreat." Koltira paused, wiping some of the viscous blood from his face, oozing down from a wound on his scalp. "What are your orders, Highlord?" That was all that mattered. The fight, the mission. They would do what the living could not.
