the craziest thing about the mixtape is it sets up a precedent, we had no idea dean gave it to him because it didn't happen onscreen, we only knew about it because we saw castiel trying to return it.

so how many other gifts may dean have given castiel that he just kept?? whose gifting or returning wasn't crucial to the main plot and so we didn't get to see??

how many destiel scenes happened offscreen during all those years?? another example of this is them watching tombstone. so many little throwaway lines or moments here and there that basically confirm that for as much insane couple behavior we saw onscreen, there was a whole other level of offscreen insanity going on

I feel like we don’t talk about the mix tape nearly enough! LIKE HUH! I’m sorry! Dean spent time making cas a mix tape of his favorite zeppelin tracks!?!?!? Huh!!!! Like!!!! I’m sorry what?! He spent time to make that (which it isn’t easy as it would be to make a cd) (so he took time out of his hectic insane life to make this for cas) and when did he give it to cas?!? How?!? Did he just drop it in front of cas and run away?! These questions need to be answered! If not gay why mix tape scene when we hadn’t had any knowledge on it previously?!?!?!?!?!

If I were Dean and I had

1) just given Cas a mixtape

2) told Cas that he is part of my Team with a fun name

3) said “we” including Cas in it and emphasizing that he is part of the “we”

4) told Cas that he and I were stronger together

5) shared my own recent failures to show Cas he isn’t alone

AND HE STILL LEFT?? I would be in shambles. I’d be screaming and crying and blasting Olivia Rodrigo. Dean is stronger than me

You know that one time, Cas goes something like: "Dean the music maker's been broken the entire car ride and you've not complained once, what's up hot stuff?" (source: Cas Formerly of the Lord et al.).

And it got me thinking about how stupid Cas is to not realize it was because he was there, or remember their long ass phone calls, probably what Dean used to pass out to in the earlier seasons, and then just long calls while driving both of them filling the space with each other no need for music, and then talking on hunts too selfishly, even if they'd probably focus better without it. Because they want to talk to each other. Constantly. Because they're in love.
