Hey, it's Dean/littlegreenfag. I don't really know how to open this, honestly, and don't really want to spend much time on that-- I kind of want this to be as succinct but comprehensive as possible. This is a sort of one-time, one-off account-- its as complete as an apology I can really give you guys. This account is going to do that; be as complete as a collection of addresses as I can really make, because I honestly want to be able to continue to, well.. exist on the internet. I am going to be making a new account (pretty obviously not this one) and I ask that you guys please don't just go and harass it without cause, if you find it. I'd really appreciate that. I do not want to be ran off of every platform I go to with pitchforks. I've sorted this into a bulleted list for efficiency's sake. When I read through my callout post, and the callout blog, i noticed a lot of, like.. fluff words. I'm trying to cut down on that here. It is completely and totally true that I’m not Romani. I have confessed to this, both on the account I deleted and many times afterwards, and am incredibly sorry for telling that lie. I first told it nearly a decade ago, when I wasn't even a teenager yet, and didn’t fully consider or understand the severity of the lie, and how disgusting it was. I know that’s no excuse, and that even as an eleven year-old I should have known better. I just want you to know the context-- this is not an excuse, or a justification, or even me trying to provide a reason-- it's just wrong. I should have absolutely confessed earlier, but I was too afraid to admit it. It spiraled out of control, and I’m sorry that I let it get to that level. I completely understand and accept if some people will not forgive me for this, and I am deeply, extremely sorry to all the people i hurt with that lie. I have no expectation of forgiveness, nor expectation of 'total understanding.' I'm just really sorry for this lie i told.

I am Jewish, and I will continue to say I am Jewish, but there seems to be quite literally no way for me to prove that to anyone short of doxxing myself. The people claiming I was lying about being Jewish (and even going so far as to call my dead relatives “Holocaust OCs”) are one of the things that hurt the most. Due to the nature of my situation, I can no longer practice my religion. I am going to a college in Michigan next fall, and there’s a nearby synagogue. I plan to once again become a fully observant Jew at that point. I have seen people and heard of people claiming that I am a polish catholic pretending to be jewish for pity points, and going so far as to release entire videos of scrolling through "my" dms with the account where I claim to be 'soon converting' to judaism. this account has not, and HAD not, ever reached out to me when they released the callout post-- even before I had deleted my old account. I have quite literally NEVER dmed them before, and it is disgusting that people would go so far to continue to make new posts and dedicate entire accounts to claiming new and increasingly absurd things about my past out of nowhere besides a callout post. I, pretty frankly and politely as possible, don't really care if you guys believe if I'm jewish or not, but my 'true jewishness' is not and will never be something for people to make judgements about.

-I understand that I have hurt a lot of people with the lie that I told, and they have every right to be mad. However, it has escalated to a sort of harassment that I find unacceptable. Complete strangers, people who didn’t even know me before I deactivated, were calling me a bitch and a cunt and saying that my parents “should knock some sense into me” and that I should put a gun in my mouth and pull the trigger. Your anger is completely valid, but that level of insults and harassment I was receiving was a genuinely terrifying margin. Again-- nobody is under any obligation to forgive me, but threats against my life and the life of my pets is not something I ever want to receive.-The “littlegreenfag-archive” blog has threatened to dox me many times, both directly on anon on my account and indirectly through their posts. They, allegedly, know my address and the contact information of both of my parents. They have also released my deadnames and childhood nicknames in a post, another behavior that I find unacceptable and extremely creepy. Their claims to have been 'suggesting multiple times in anon for me to come clean' are completely false-- I only received a few messages from them in my inbox, all of which were threats. I do not know how this person got my information and I do not know where this person got my information, but I do not think it is solely for their care about romani or jewish people that they did this. -All I want is privacy. I am an adult, and would like to have that wish respected. Claiming I should be 'stuck in a psych ward', that I'm a narcissist, that somebody should 'contact my parents' are all incredibly invasive and infantilizing things for people to do. Alongside all of this, some of the things that people claim I was lying about were things that I have no ethical way of proving. I am autistic, I have spent time in a psychiatric ward, I am currently being abused by my parents, and I was raped as a child— and I should not have to prove that to you people. Those are disgusting things to have to prove to people. Just for the fact that I discuss them on my blog does not make any of you entitled to that information, nor entitled to be able to speculate and degrade. People used my admitting to not being romani (once again, an incredibly disgusting thing that I did. I am not diminishing that.) to claim that almost every single thing I've said about myself is a lie– going so far as to claim I am, apparently, a trust fund kid? These are all weird and, again, invasive things to just go and make up. I am not going to prove to you that I grew up poor, or fat, or anything like that. None of you are entitled to that information.

All I want is to continue to exist on the internet without being harassed. As I stated before, I am incredibly, extremely, sorry. If there’s anything I can do to make it up to the people that I hurt, I will do it– but I understand if many of my previous mutuals and friends never want contact with me again, and accept that. I am not entitled to that and am under no presumption that I am. I know that many of my friendships have ended over this, but I don’t want this to completely ruin any chance I have at making new friends. People called me a coward when I deleted my blog, but those same people told me to delete my blog. It’s paradoxical and confusing to me, and I’ve realized that there really is no end to this campaign besides to continue to harass me and slander me for their own personal enjoyment and feeling of justice with renewed ‘callout’ campaigns– the end goal achieves literally nothing besides me getting harassed. I have a job, I’m getting out of the personal situation I am in, and, again I am a person who wants to be able to just exist on the internet. This isn’t me asking for pity, or for complete and total forgiveness- it's just an apology. No expectation attached. I am incredibly and deeply sorry for all the harm I’ve caused.

A new town with a new identity every week, or if they were lucky, a month. That had been Dean and John’s life ever since Alastair forced the omega into a mating. In the eyes of the law, Dean was Alastair’s, and the only thing that could get him out of it was if Dean found his soulmate. However, he didn’t need another abusive alpha chasing after him. So why bother putting much thought into it? That was how the alpha felt until he went to stop a group of alphas from attacking an omega and woke up with a soul mark on his bicep. With his soulmate nowhere in sight, Castiel knew it was a race against the clock to find the omega before it was too late.

It's so interesting too, that in sundering themselves from their humble backgrounds, Crowley and Rowena mirror that which was inflicted on them, trying to become their oppressors (a Godstiel theme, if you care):

In Hell, Crowley is a king who commands no respect and begets no real loyalty. He's become a classist bastard. Dark ages-mentality.

Along with Rowena, Crowley inflicts pain on the ones "beneath" him, trampling the rebellious demons, especially the ones that stand up for "equal pay for equal work."

And it's not exactly as Crowley tells Sam at the end of s10—a long con to "change" Hell for the better.

That's a half-truth Crowley is using to make himself feel better.

A LOT of Crowley's behavior has been shown to be flagrant, for his own amusement to satisfy his own pain and loneliness. We got to see that all season long. Even before Rowena showed!

This line is intended to appeal to Sam and soothe Crowley's deeply wounded humanity. It's another version of "for the greater good."

Sam also uses things like this to pad his own wounded humanity.

In Girls, Girls, Girls, Crowley insists that "human trafficking is tacky," which is another form of padding to protect his pride. This helps Crowley look away from reality. He did the same, trafficking Dean to Cain, as Randy trafficked Claire to Randy in order to get a stronghold against his enemies/debt.

Most importantly, Crowley is looking away from the fact that his clients are all selling their souls, that his Hell-workers have already sold theirs.

But most importantly, he's looking away from the fact that he trafficked himself. That's how he got here. Crowley, like Rowena, was dealt a horrible hand.

It's as in 10x21:

And it's no accident that s10 dead-ends in themes of Frankenstein.

Crowley wanted to rule over Hell, but in Demon Dean, he wanted to patchwork someone together who could "see what he sees, feel what he feels."

Dean becomes Crowley's very own Nick the SIren, an immature combination of all things familiar, someone "just like me!"

And when Dean fled to Anne-Marie, to his "humanity," Crowley was gob-smacked. "That's someone the old you would fall for," he says. Spoiler alert: Dean was falling for her. Anne-Marie is, in essence, a stand-in for Dean's humanity.

Dean and Anne-Marie linger in the spectre of Daniel and Adina, Adina resembling Anne-Marie AND Dean, wanting to go "somewhere else," and Daniel like Cain in: "just wanting to be left alone." (It's no wonder, then, that it is Crowley who kills Adina.)

Dean was supposed to be Crowley's perfect Hell-"Queen," someone just like him. But Dean wasn't a queen. He wasn't a lot of things people wanted him to be.

Not what John wanted, not what God wanted.

Dean wasn't even a proper knight. As much as Cain pegged him for a mirror, as being "just like Cain himself," Dean didn't do ANYTHING Cain predicted because Cain, like Chuck, like the audience, has got Dean dead wrong.

Dean is Dean.

He's not John. He's not Crowley, and he sure as Hell isn't Cain.

Next,

Let's note that in 10x21, a girl was killed and her EYES were taken. This is emphasized for many reasons.

But in a big way, this blindness mirrors Demon Dean himself. His "pretty black peepers." Crowley said to him, "See what I see, feel what I feel."

These themes swirl around the whole season because as Dean is reckoning with what Crowley did to him, Crowley is reckoning with his own life.

What Rowena did to him. With his original, terrible, abusive human life. With his own demon deal.

To Crowley, it seemed like Dean could be the answer, the balm to his boredom, to his lack of purpose and, like with Amara being wounded by Chuck, a Holy tourniquet to that core wound left in Crowley by Rowena.

Aside/// Dean is more successful than Crowley:

Crowley gets much of his kingdom through MOC!Dean's battle prowess/defeat of Abbadon. Dean's sacrifices are the foundation of Crowley's current kingdom and ability to succeed.

There's an off-key parallel with Sam here. Dean's sacrifices in many ways enabled Sam to go to college and have a chance to succeed.

Even now, Sam gets a lot of friendship and love by proxy through Dean's preexisting, strongly forged connections. In season 10, we see Sam at his worst: Sam manipulates others via the loyalty Dean has earned.

Sam's (and Rowena's and Crowley's) lack of social grace and inability to make friends stand in stark contrast to characters like Dean. Sam, Rowena, and Crowley feel like outsiders, and they can't reckon with why. Even getting power and status doesn't seem to help them, and that frustrates them all!

SPN has plenty of other outsiders, sure. But I get the sense that Sam, Crowley, and Rowena struggle more than others do.

Even with awkward characters like Cas, people seem to follow him even when he doesn't want them to. People don't naturally follow Sam, (and actually, it's even more complicated than that—he's afraid of leading). Sam really has to work on it with the AU hunters.

By comparision, Dean, Mary, Cas, and Jack, all characters with big hearts, seem effortlessly able to form these deep connections. They don't seem to need recipes or a rulebook for "How to Win Friends and Influence."

(Aside/// It doesn't save big-hearted characters from getting duped, of course, and respectively, Cas and Dean are fresh off being manipulated by Metatron and Crowley!)

But anyway, Crowley wants to be top dog, and it's a losing battle.

Crowley denigrates those who remain loyal to him, calling them stupid and useless, and one wonders if this is what Crowley heard daily after his mother left and he went into the workhouse?

As a leader, it's not a good look for Crowley, and it's shown that his behavior actually makes him a weaker king, not a stronger one. He becomes paranoid that their loyalty is cheap and that they'd betray him the first chance they get.

And well. He's right.

Interestingly, it's this that Sam senses in him—this that Sam hates. It's a self-hatred, too. It's about the rigged game, maestro!

Rowena hates what Sam represents; Sam hates what Crowley represents

Rowena hates The Men of Letters. At first, spitting on Sam and Dean is a big "fuck you" to the upper class.

So, too, does Sam spit on Crowley as emblematic of Hell, as emblematic of the thing that had tried to lure Sam in as a "boy-king," a promise of power but with the harsh reality of only being needed ONLY for his parts (meat suit).

Sam beats on Crowley because he can't beat on Ruby, or on Lucifer, or on John. Because (and Sam's not exactly wrong!), "because Crowley has it coming."

Crowley killed their loved ones (Sarah, etc). Then he duped Dean and dangled him in front of Cain as cannon fodder for his war.

(But it isn't all Crowley's fault! It's the system of Hell at fault.)

And the Crowley-Metatron parallels are delicious, too...

VS

Metaron duped Cas and used him as cannon fodder for his war. Then Metatron ordered their loves ones (Kevin) to be killed.

(But it isn't all Metatron's fault. It's the system of Heaven.)

They're ALL in Hell, in one way or another. In a sense, they're climbing down off the rack to stick it to perfect scapegoats (monsters, demons, whatever) who "have it coming."

Metatron and Crowley are also intrinsically linked. They both have extremely UGLY family wounds, and they're slowly falling towards their own humanity.

Preying on desperation isn't just a demon thing:

You know the ruse: finding vulnerable people and preying on them by promising them either protection or something to protect their families.

Like Cas preyed on Jimmy, like Dean manipulated Kevin emotionally, like Metatron preyed on Cas, like Crowley dangled Dean in front of Cain then used him as a Hell-worker, like Randy swooped in on Claire, like Rowena is trying to prey on Crowley.

YET. Sam doesn't want to admit that he's done the same! He swooped in on Lester when he was at his lowest in order to manipulate him, like Sam's using Charlie's love for Dean to get her to go whole-hog into a dangerous mission.)

The backdrop of forgiveness:

Interesting then, that you have this whole backdrop of forgiveness: Claire forgiving Randy, Dean forgiving Crowley, Claire forgiving her mom, Cole forgiving Dean, Claire forgiving Cas.

Crowley laments that Rowena is a liar, and Dean frankly calls him out about lying to him and setting him up to be the fall-boy with the Mark, "guess it runs in the family."

Cas laments that he can't put Claire in danger, and she calls him out too, "Anything else, you mean."

But it's not THAT simple either! Even "virtuous, forgiving" characters like Dean and Claire are still spiraling down into hunting, and Cas is still eagerly sticking his knife into low-level demon-soldiers.

No one's hands are clean, not even those who symbolize forgiveness and change. It's so messy!

It's so interesting, then. How Sam and Rowena mirror each other more directly.

They can't seem to forgive anything. Because they can't bear, in all of their stalwart perfectionism, to really look at themselves.

Sam can't forgive Crowley. He can't forgive himself.

Sam goes through the motions of "a team effort" with Charlie and Cas, but like Rowena, he trades more easily in the business of selective truths and manipulation.

And that's a big thing, isn't it? Sam, Rowena, and Crowley are alike in this manner.

They want people beside them to assuage their own wounds.

They tend to rule in fits of misguided ruthlessness and subterfuge to get people into positions where they can use them, as they themselves have been used. They struggle out from under the boot...

Rowena can't forgive the entire world for being rigged.

Neither can Sam.

He couldn't be further than Claire Novak this season. But can we blame Sam? Let's step back for a sec and cut him some slack:

Sarah Blake in season 8. That was like two seconds ago for Sam. She was killed right in front of Sam BY Crowley. To think this is ONLY about Dean runs the risk of oversimplifying Sam. (And yeah, Sam could've tried harder to save the Trans fam, but let's not forget that Crowley was who he had to save them from.)

His need for vengeance shouldn't come as a surprise, and I don't think it should be simplified to "homophobia" either, like I sometimes see.

CROWLEY: Well, I think the people you save, they're how you justify your pathetic little lives. The alcoholism, the collateral damage, the pain you've caused – the one thing that allows you to sleep at night, the one thing is knowing that these folks are out there, still out there happy and healthy because of you, you great, big, bloody heroes! They're your life's work, and I'm going to rip it apart piece by piece because I can, because you can't stop me, and because when they're all gone, what will you have left?

This is a very Luciferian comment by Crowley, and it's interesting to how very like Lucifer some of his actions can be. Lucifer says very similar dialogue to the above when he's posssessing Vince Vincente/rockstar.

It's another way that Rowena and Sam's plots are hopelessly intertwined.

Sam's hangups are about being squashed beneath the boot, but instead of finding another shoe, he's so afraid and so paranoid that he becomes the boot.

Dean and Cas are not immune to this. (Ahem, see Godstiel.) And perhasp Kevin Tran is to Dean as Charlie is to Sam. Miracle cure-Gadreel is a little bit like miracle-cure Book of the Damned, if you think about it... just on a smaller scale.

Sam tries to save his family not dissimilar to how his family saved him, by locking Deab up for detox, for doing "whatever it takes to save him."

But he's Sam, so it comes out... very Sam-like. On a big, destructive, and very CUNNING, pragmatic, and manipulative way. As we see in the early seasons, Sam is willing to go further. Into forbidden knowledge and outright human sacrifice.

Like Rowena, Sam WILL tend to save his own skin this season, and with them both, there are "substitute sacrifices" involved.

Symbolically, Oskar is a substitute sacrifice for them both. (And before you get too into the idea of Dean being "immune," it's the way Jack will later, unfortunately, be allowed to be a "substitute sacrifice/bomb" - re Dean's: "Thank you, Jack. " Dean also expresses relief that for once he and Sam won't be the ones sacrificing etc etc' ; war son stuff etc etc)

ANYWAY.

Other characters' struggle with this theme of class doesn't seem as prolonged and ever-present as what we see in Sam, Rowena, and Crowley.

Cas and Dean are, on the whole, more likely to be upset with systems and forgive the individuals caught up in it. (SEE: Dean forgives Crowley for selling him out, Claire forgives Randy for betraying her, and Cas has mercy on Metatron in s12).

That was a lot of words to say that Sam, Rowena, and Crowley are fundamentally linked and it's so tasty to me.

It can be overwhelming to humans and so can my real voice." However, Castiel stated certain, "special people" are able to tolerate his true appearance and voice. Although his true form has never been seen, it is known that he has two feathered wings. When Castiel becomes a seraph, he describes himself to Samuel Campbell as a "multidimensional wavelength of celestial intent" and his true form is "approximately the size of your Chrysler Building" in height. As he was promoted to a seraph, it stands to reason his true form has changed to one of a seraph's. It is presumed to be very tremendous and terrifying, as the mere image of it was enough to cause Crowley to flee in fear of being smited. In addition, Castiel has been referred to as being attractive on more than one occasion, both in his human vessel and his true angelic form. One female demon, while talking with Crowley, once instantly said Castiel was, as she said in her words, hot, as she also said, "I mean, human Castiel? eh. But, feathered Castiel? Phew." The same demon even once called him "Captain Sexy." Another instance was a woman who referred to him as "young and sexy" while he was god and had recently killed a pastor at the church she attended. Since having his grace removed for Metatron's spell, Castiel has lost his wings, even with Theo and Adina's grace. Though he has since regained the remnants of his grace and been restored to full power, his wings are broken. adina/dean is still claiming to be jewish on twitter snd instagram as of 4th may 2024. they were previously @/littlegreenfag on tumblr. you can read about everything they’ve lied about on @littlegreenfag-archive. clearly there is no intention to stop the lies despite saying they would, and they have friends supporting this behaviour which does not help.

i’m sorry to everyone this person has hurt. block them, let people know, and be vigilant and look after yourselves because they probably will remake a tumblr if they haven’t already. i can only hope they can access some mental health services at some point because i feel an intervention with someone in their private life and consequent support is the only thing that’s going to help. however that doesn’t excuse them in any way.

Hey I can pretty confidently say that I’m not cool with the things dean did but releasing his other social media and discord accounts and claiming you have means to contact his parents on this blog is only going to encourage people to harass him which is, no matter what, not a great thing to do.

I’m a romani guy, and was friends with dean for a year. I had thought i’d met another roma-jew on here for the first time, and was deeply, *extremely* hurt to find out it wasn’t true. Racefaking is a disgusting thing to do, but releasing all of someone’s information—including their deadnames—onto a public blog in the hopes of trying to ‘keep people safe’ in retribution is a pretty rancid thing to do as well

I do understand what you are saying, and I will remove some of the information, but I don’t believe that I was in the wrong to post it.

I need you all to understand that Adina has continued to contact several of their old friends and mutuals who have explicitly stated that they want nothing to do with Adina anymore. I do not believe there is anything wrong with giving people the information necessary to block Adina from contacting them; especially since I did not dig up a single one of those accounts myself. Several were found by others, and I received DMs from people informing me about each of the ones I already did know about. None of this is new or secret information, all I’ve done is gather it in one place.

Regarding the names, I will agree with you here. I don’t like that I felt the need to post that. However, for those of you who were not here while Adina’s remade Tumblr was still active, I must emphasize that they did not use the name Adina or Dean. They used one of those old names. If it hadn’t been for that, I wouldn’t have posted the list of names. But due to that blogs use of the name, I now have no way of knowing what is a deadname and what is an alias. Dot, at the very least, is an alias that they’re still comfortable using. I will, however, remove the rest of the names from that post.

For the purposes of this list and on this page, whenever I say “dark skinned,” I mean a traditional brown crayon or darker. I grew up around Black people, so the words “dark skinned” do not mean the same thing to me as it do to nonblacks.

love club commentary part 2

okay we're nearing the home stretch, folks. anyway. one of the reasons it took me so long to make this video is that i was worried about... the possibility of misinterpretation. because this video has a lot, and i mean a LOT, of themes and things to say. and not a lot of space to say them in. so one of the things i was concerned about is like... this video is partly about the tragedy of the angels, you know? and that's something where cas' complicity/fault is... complicated. while cas certainly bears some of the blame, it's also true that... this was historically inevitable. the angels were always going to eventually wipe themselves out because of the nature of their inherently unstable authoritarian cultgovernment means that when that collapsed, of course they all killed each other before they could figure out any other way to live. and it was always going to collapse.

and like, there were chances! there were chances. maybe eventually after half a decade of continuous civil war the remaining angels could have gotten their shit together. that's what's so compelling about stairway to heaven: that was their best chance. but it gets wrecked. and it gets wrecked because cas can't say no to his cult leader. like that's the great tragedy.

but also, it gets wrecked because of hannah's angel conflict resolution skills. the only way she knows how to solve the problem in stairway to heaven is by demanding that cas kill dean. hannah is certainly the rachel of season nine in terms of being a kind of synecdoche for his relationship with other angels, but also for her inability to resolve things without violence. (there is a reason why rachel's death plays such a prominent role in this video, and also why her "but what does god want us to do with it?" is so emphasized. she is synecdoche for the tragedy of cas and the angels in every respect. she expects to follow a leader. she has no framework for choices. she tries to kill cas. he kills her instead. he doesn't want to).

this is why i specifically included the fight with daniel and adina in black in the little flashes of angel violence during the rachel fight. that whole thing is a direct result of stairway to heaven, it's happening because that little attempt at like, angel non-authoritarianism has failed, and now hannah has the reins she is immediately falling back on authoritarianism because that's all she knows. it's really just like godstiel. you need a father, and i am your father now. which is of course projection, she is the one who feels like she needs an authority and is floundering. but i digress. and as soon as other angels reject her authority, the result is deadly violence. which is because of the authoritarian cult mindset instilled in her and cas and others by their upbringing in heaven.

so while cas is complicit in the angels wiping themselves out, i don't want it to come off like i'm putting all of the blame on him, you know? and while it matters that dean hates angels and will never accept cas' relationship with them it's also... it isn't the whole story. like, it matters that cas participates in wiping out the angels, it matters that sometimes the reasons why are related to how being in the winchester family cult has harmed him, it matters that being in the winchester family cult has also prevented him from effectively assisting the other angels. there's a reason i put the "i hate those flying ass-monkeys just as much as you do" -> "if i see what heaven's become... what i... what i made of it… i'm afraid i might kill myself" scene in this video. but they're not the core. the core of the tragedy is that the angels killed each other because they were always going to. and that's what the video's about.

my other concern about misinterpretation is essentially that i'm tackling a lot of themes and topics in this video and i didn't want to blur them together. like, cas inducting jack into the cult of the winchester family doesn't really have anything to do with the extinction of the angels, except insofar as they are both distant results of cas' indoctrination into the angelic cult, you know?

anyway, one of the reasons i couldn't make this amv way back in september 2021 is that i did not truly get jack yet, because i hadn't had @restlesshush explaining to me the horrible reality of his life for a year and some change.

anyway one thing i've always liked about this song is the double entendre of go get punched for the love club. like, punched as in tapped, as in initiated, but also punched as in hit. and so i put cas sacrificing himself in lucifer rising in the first chorus because you know, it fits. he's sacrificing himself to be initiated into dean's good graces. there's a reason why the thing that finally pushes him, in both lucifer rising and the monster at the end of this book, is dean saying "we're done." which is, you know. it's definitely bad for cas. but the true tragedy is in the last chorus, when cas unintentionally teaches jack that he too must destroy himself (this is why when cas is saying "take me in his stead" from byzantium he is mouthing go get punched for the love club). like, the end is a kind of. jack suicide compilation. it's all the times that jack has tried to destroy himself in the name of the winchester family. the most notable ones are obviously unity and ouroboros, ouroboros because it's like. it's an attempt by jack to earn his place in the winchester family through self-destruction. unity (the rib scene) because dean openly demands that jack sacrifice himself.

and then of course there's the level on which like... the beginning of jack's relationship is cas trying to get into another cult. like, he's had a pretty miserable year in season twelve so he just. finds himself a new authority figure. he craves being brainwashed, and he kind of gets his wish. of course, once jack is a flesh and blood person in front of him and not a vague concept, that's no longer how he relates to jack.

but there's still a level of one-sidedness in their relationship in a new way, where cas thinks of himself as not really having the right to be jack's family, of his task being to love jack one-sidedly. and this results in lots of things but one of them is him intentionally indoctrinating jack into the family cult. like he is not bringing jack into his own family. there is no family unit that is headed by castiel. instead, he's bringing jack into the winchester family.

which is why that whole conversation at the end happens. like, cas sacrificing himself for jack in front of jack may have been destructive to jack, bringing him to be around the winchesters, ditto, but this conversation in destiny's child is like. the worst thing cas has done to jack. and like. i have my qualms about the writing in this episode, because of buckleming's garbage jack thesis. but it's crucial to understanding the whole point, because what's happening there is cas teaching jack to process dean's abuse the way cas does. he is teaching jack to accept emotional abuse as an inevitability, and love dean anyway. and that's the end point of cas' trauma, trauma that starts all the way back in heaven.

Summary:   Castiel has spent years keeping his head down, playing the long game. His plans are unexpectedly moved ahead of schedule when he is summoned to the year’s Unity Event by his parents, leveraging their position as head of both the Krushnic family and business to get him there.    His first time back in the Orion system in years is for the singular purpose of being mated off to his family’s advantage. Bracing himself for the longest two weeks of his life turns into something else, when he learns that the Omega he had a literal run-in with on the day he arrived is technically a crown prince. Dean has a similar issue of his own to contend with. Just because his parents don’t intend to force him into a political marriage doesn’t mean a small army of officials and rich merchants don’t want to try anything. They hatch a plan, pretending to court each other, knowing the other would be a dream match for their respective lines. It works well, too well. Castiel hadn’t expected to start really caring for Dean, much less for it to be mutual.

Excerpt:   A scowl crossed Castiel face when he realized there was no option on how the call this time. Visual only. He couldn’t just do an audio call. Wonderful.    Wandering into his living room, Castiel answered, watching as his father’s visage appeared over the com unit. A bust of the man regarded the younger Alpha, tone crisp as he said, “Hello, Castiel. How kind of you to pick up.”    “I have received your official messages, father,” Castiel reminded him. “I know what you want. I have no interest. There’s nothing to discuss.”    “On the contrary, I have plenty to discuss with you. Is this any way to treat your benefactor?”    It took biting his own tongue to keep from challenging that last bit. Ishim had not been his benefactor in years. At this point he was convinced someone could be stabbed to death in front of him and he could maintain the facade of polite interest. His body language matched it, but his scent was harder. It had taken a lot of practice, and the way this day was going, he’d need to brush up.    Visage unphased, Castiel pointed out, “Micheal makes it a point to attend each year. He’s a fixture. And now that Rapheal’s pregnancy is no longer a hindrance she intends to- ”    “That is not what we mean.”    “I thought you would be grateful, I am going out of my way not to be an embarrassment. You recall, don’t you, mother? These things are hardly my strong suit.”    “You will attend or there will be consequences,” Ishim snapped. “We have arranged for your passage on the next passenger transport to Gaia Station, and if you are not on it you won’t like what happens. Is that understood?”    “I do, father.”    When the call ended, Castiel could hear his apartment’s defrosting system kick in. He glanced down at himself, scowling when he realized frost was starting to climb down his limbs. He really was out of practice.
