Summary:

Someone has tampered with the Goblet of Fire, naming Harry Potter, an underaged, famous wizard as one of the Champions magically bound to compete in the dangerous tournament. What was supposed to be Dean’s coast year before college is soon going to test him more than a final exam ever could. With the help of some new friends, and a dark-haired, blue-eyed wizard with a Russian accent, Dean plans to find out what is really happening within the halls of Hogwarts.

I have zero self-control when it comes to creature!cas in any form so I saw a selkie!cas option for the @deancaspinefest and all other thoughts ceased to exist uh

I tried a mix of two styles for this fic's art by combining my usual thick black outlines with the crayon pen on Flipaclip to create layered colors, as per my author's request. this let me do almost like a children's story book vibe here but I think that's just the name of the pen talking. either way look seal Cas hdhfndi (and my attempt at drawing a boat but ignore that as well as the weirdly tiny credits)

here's Dean rescuing Cas who looks like he just woke up from a nap or something there. Dean's expression looked better before I erased half of it to make room for Cas' head and I'm now unsure what face Dean's really supposed to be making beyond exertion meets determination. I originally had a lighter blue sky here (as well as in the banner) but the author assures me the sky in Scotland only comes in grey, which has the added bonus of making this whole atmosphere a little more tense

it took me forever to get a decent angle for this one it was just weirdly impossible for no reason and I only got this after trashing six other partially complete sketches and it still looks kinda weird but it was unexpectedly impossible trying to get a view where you can see Dean and Cas. also just now realizing that the pipe on the showerhead leads nowhere oops

still very bad at drawing water but an attempt was made though Dean's pose could be better and Cas looks too small to really be able to swim Dean back to shore. let's just ignore...all of that uh. I intentionally made Dean's outfit here symbolic and all that. in the other pics, he's wearing reds and greys but now he's wearing a tan not unlike Cas' trench coat (albeit darker) and his flannel is a mixture of blue and green, representing both the ocean and ofc him and Cas (desitle colors gjkdhdgf) because I'm weak and Dean was pining for so long that he subconsciously starting wearing Cas Colors ,_,

so yay style experimentation and double yay for Dean and Cas being dumb again 🎉

Retirement. Something Dean never expected he’d get to have, especially with Cas by his side. But here they are, and Dean knows it’s finally time. After months of searching, when Cas finds them the perfect forever home to make their own, it feels too good to be true. But it’s real. And it’s all theirs to start something new together. What was once bags packed with weapons and salt becomes cowboy boots, baskets of homegrown herbs, and feed for the animals. But Cas knows there’s one part of the hunting business that Dean still needs. Saving things. And luckily Cas knows exactly how to make that happen to turn their ranch into a home to create their own found family.

“No,” Dean said, pushing the paper across the table with a frown. “We ruled that one out last week. You’re just getting desperate putting it back on the table.”

Cas dropped his head back, casting his eyes up towards the ceiling with a long sigh. “Dean. There isn’t anything else within a 50-mile radius that has enough rooms to fit everyone, and is the right distance between Sam and Eileen, and Jody, Donna, and the girls.”

Dean shoved his chair back, stalking across the kitchen and leaning against the sink with his back to his husband. “We discussed this, though. A million times, Cas. That house is too dark. It feels like this bunker all over again. And slap bang in the middle of a cookie-cutter neighborhood. That’s not us, man. We can’t do the whole ‘friendly with neighbors' crap. And if something ever does track us down, it just puts hundreds of people in danger.”

Taking a deep breath, Cas made his way over to Dean, wrapping his arms around Dean’s waist and dropping his chin onto Dean’s shoulder. “Then maybe we broaden our horizons. Look at something different?” he murmured against the back of Dean’s neck.

Dean tensed up for a second, before the frustration ebbed away and he turned in Cas’ embrace. Cas was the one to tip their foreheads together, and Dean let him, letting his eyes flutter closed as Cas’ hands slipped under the hem of his shirt to trace patterns along Dean’s lower spine.

“Like what, Cas? What could possibly ever feel like home after all the shit we’ve been through? Nothing on Earth feels safe enough and normalcy isn’t something we can just mold into.”

Cas’ hand stilled on Dean’s back for a moment, before he inched closer, pressing a ghost of a kiss to the corner of Dean’s lips. “Do you trust me?”

“C’mon that’s not fair, this doesn’t have anything to do with—”

But Cas shook his head, the movement separating their lips, leaving Dean with a sudden ache to feel Cas’ mouth against his own again.

“Answer the question, Dean. Do you trust me?”

And wasn’t that a loaded question? All the truth and lies over the years. The betrayals and the forgiveness. The loss and heartbreak, clashing with faith and love.

There was no one Dean trusted more.

“Of course I do.”

Cas smiled, rewarding Dean by bringing their lips together into a kiss. “I’ve got an idea.”

I had the pleasure of doing art for this super-fun story for the @crack-in-the-chassis bang!

Have you ever imagined what Cas might look like if he were magically transformed into a car? Well, I got to paint my interpretation of what that might be (and add a little animated bling to it while I was at it):

I wanted his headlights to flash like angel grace, also as if he were saying "Hello, Dean". This was definitely a bit of a challenge (doing all these hard lines and smooth edges in watercolor isn't easy) but I do think he ended up being a pretty sexy car. Be sure to read the story which also features human!Baby!

Castiel POV

"So…," Dean bridged the gap of their sudden silence. "What's on your bucket list?"

"What?" Castiel asked, wondering what would happen if he simply gave in to his fingers' itching desire to reach out and slide over Dean's arm. Now that he'd gotten another brief taste of it, the urge to feel, to sense, to touch was so much harder to rein in, lighting up the nerves in fingertips that were his alone again after all the time he'd spent locked into his own mind without any control over this body.

"Not in general," Dean clarified nothing whatsoever. "I sure hope you ain't gonna kick the bucket any time soon. Or, like, at all. I just mean while we're here."

Castiel had to admit that standing so close to Dean really impacted his ability to focus, celestial being or not. He could only make half a sense out of this string of words. If he didn't know any better, he'd think Dean was covering some kind of nervousness with the way he kept interrupting himself by adding more sentences. Only that there was no discernible thing for him to be nervous about. There was nothing but them and the open sea.

Dean POV

The frog chirped and hopped away with one long leap. Running on intuition more than any logical reasoning, Dean pushed aside the fern that the animal had disappeared behind, uncovering an opening in the ground. He pulled out his phone and activated the flashlight, shining down into what seemed to be a steep, narrow tunnel leading down into pitch black.

He hated narrow fucking tunnels. A small part of his brain still seemed to be functional enough to have his phone send Sam his coordinates with a brief 'Just in case'. Then he stowed the device back in his pocket and covered his face in his hands, dreading what came next.

Cas, he reminded himself. He was doing this to get Cas back.

in one of my previous ES/LS verse posts, i mentioned how ES!Sam would be immediately and completely enamoured with cas because holy shit!!! an actual ANGEL!!!

sam is pretty religious in the first few seasons, and is genuinely excited to meet him in s4, so i'm sure now that cas is not calling him an abomination, it goes really well!

ES!Sam is giggling and twirling his hair and asking if castiel really has wings. castiel doesn't get impatient and explains enough angel lore for sam to go all nerd-wild, while leaving out important factoids so their future doesn't get upended. cas lifts the table over his head, with sam sitting on it. cas shows his wing outline through that grace-power-up he does. ES!Sam is enamoured.

and that luster lasts juuuuust until he overhears castiel ensuring ES!Dean that not to worry, while he and LS!Dean's bond is made more profound by the passage of time, he will not play favourites.

record scratch. very much "yup. that's me. you're probably wondering how i got into this situation."

LS!Sam&Dean call castiel "their best friend." ES!Sam finds LS!Dean and cas whispering to each other in the kitchen, standing close. like...brother close.

then, the nail in the coffin. dean calls cas a brother. ES!Sam is DEVASTATED. who the fuck is this guy?? some angel poser who thinks it's cool to what--STEAL BROTHERS???

now that he's seen it, he can't unsee it. cas stands uncomfortably close to LS!Dean and doesn't move away when LS!Sam comes into the room. he's flaunting it!! the hussy!!!

LS!Sam turns and asks for a book and cas is already holding it. LS!Sam laughs and thanks him, smiling softly, RIGHT IN FRONT OF LS!Dean????? are they cool with cheating?? what the fuck is going on??

ES!Dean, who has watched ES!Sam flutter and flounce and kick his merry little feet for a few weeks has been over cas since day dot. this little interloper has been collecting his brothers--oh fuck did he just think brothers, plural? no he meant brother, for sure, just the one, ES!Sam--for too long.

killing an angel will absolutely get you thrown into hell, though, right??

LS!Sam shakes his head and laughs loudly and his eyes go soft so fondly whenever cas does something fucking stupid, and ES!Dean wonders if slitting cas's throat would even work? does he need it to live?

LS!Sam puts a hand on cas's back to move him, and ES!Dean wonders if body slamming him off of the cliff-edge they're standing near would do any substantial damage.

now that ES!Sam is on his side, they whisper furiously to each other and glare whenever anyone steps into the room because it might be cas.

cas--this whole time--is thinking, "wow! a second set of winchesters without their most significant trauma. my friends. <3" and is just happy to see them so animated and alive.

it would be hilarious if ES!Sam&Dean are arguing over who let this guy into their relationship to become a throuple. ES!Sam is like "don't get up my ass about it mr 'profound bond'" and LS!Dean shoves him like "fuck off!!! if you weren't eye-banging him every two to three seconds he wouldn't've gotten the wrong idea!"

and when cas says something kind to ES!Sam later, ES!Sam is still stuck between oh shit!!! an angel just said i'm the best researcher he knows!!!! and oh shit 😡 the guy who puts his dick in dean's ass just said i'm good at something 😡😡😡 what the fuck do you know about it ass-stealer

so he just ends up kind of going :/ thanks :) i appreciate it >:(

and cas--whose facial expression reading success rate is 65% on a good day--says :) no problem! :)

they rock-paper-scissor over who gets to break up with him in the future. they hesitate because what if their future selves haven't broken up with him because he can smite them? or something? but they see him pick a leaf off of sam's hair and decide "fuck it. we're dumping him TONIGHT."

Summary:

Dean has been a mess since Cas left the bunker but he’s not ready to face him just yet. In an attempt to quiet his mind after a tough hunt, he decides to work on a salt-n-burn in what appears to be the western town of his dreams. Turns out running away from your problems will often bring you closer than ever to them. 

Cas left the bunker two weeks ago and he’s been avoiding Dean ever since, but that doesn’t mean he can get him out of his mind. So when he hears about the ghost town in the news he can’t help but think about their time in Dodge City, just before everything went wrong. The last thing he expects is to find Dean there.

The town is not what it seems and it has lured them in, so they will have to work together to figure a way out (and try to figure themselves out in the process).

Being part of this project has meant a lot to me. I have been reading destiel fics for quite a few years now, but I had never gathered the courage to publish my own work before. Mitski is one of my favorite artists, so when I first heard about the bang I realized I couldn’t miss the chance to participate in something so special.

The dog motif, which has become a recurrent theme in mitski’s music, always makes me think of Dean, so I figured the best company for a lonely dog would be a crow, as they are known to form lifelong bonds with humans despite being regarded as a bad omen in popular culture. Gemma’s beautiful art truly captures the way the dog and the crow echo in Cas and Dean’s relationship throughout the fic.

And yeah. 

Just the thought of it, of Cas not being Cas, is the bang of a gun—a bullet with an exit wound the size of Texas. Through it all, Chuck is the clown in his mind, yanking out Dean’s guts, inflating them long and thick, twisting them into balloon animals. 

Then popping them, watching the blood burst. 

Dean’s not in the right headspace for this conversation. Maybe he never will be.

“That was a lot of words to say you don’t think Cas is real.”

yoo made art for the @dadstielminibang and forced myself to attempt Furniture. somehow nothing exploded which is chill

I really had fun with this banner as far as telling a story through the fridge art and magnets (like the pie and bee magnets on thee best fridge art in the bottom right there, the cookie magnet existing to reference the first art piece, the sick Jack sketch in the top right, etc). I tried to show Jack's life with Lucifer (his dad in the fic) vs his life with Dean and Cas across the various scenes in the fridge art with hopefully just enough detail to make it obvious what's happening but still sketchy enough to make sense for a little kid

furniture is very much my weakness but an attempt was made anyway to show Jack and Emma (who's not related to Dean in this fic) having a tea party with their stuffed animals, Melly the camel (who's in every art piece lol) and a rabbit whose head is sinking into its own stomach, you know like you do. Emma's outfit is actually kinda based on what the young version of her wore in the episode while Jack's is based on the art I did for this bang last year because I thought it suited him

also I did actually fully design Dean and Cas watching Jack and Emma. okay no they're maybe watching each other instead but that's beyond the point—

oh no more furniture, this time featuring a bed and someone in said bed. fun fact but I originally made Jack too big and had to shrink him down a little. and as with the banner, the background kinda tells a story here with the pictures on the wall being Jack's two families (Lucifer/Nick, and Dean and Cas) and the blocks on the ground kinda do as well, hence why the 'n' (for Nick) is a distance away from the 'd,' 'c,' and 'j'. also also this is the first time I attempted uh making a light like that how's it look

(I kinda lowkey want Cas' bee pajama pants btw, although his flower shirt is very eye-searing and uh probably doesn't match. considering how many seasons he wore his tie backwards, I don't think he'd care about matching lol)

Do you respond to comments? I try, but I've gotten very behind with that lately. My next task is to do just that.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Angsty endings? I don't know them. 😁

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? All of them, but in terms of happy ending compared to the level of angst in the story, I guess either Against the Light or Stop and Smell the Roses.

Do you get hate on fics? I've had the odd unhelpful comment, but I've only had hate once. The commenter didn't like what I'd written, but my dear friend @bayoubodycount quickly leaped to my defence.

Do you write smut? Yes, although lately my solo fics have been smut-free, but I can't really account for it. However, I've signed up for this year's reverse Bang Bang, so I will have to push myself to write smut.

Craziest crossover? What Destiel Does In the Shadows, which is a crossover @anyreiart and I wrote for @queerwolfsstuff's birthday a few years ago. Not just one pair of idiots in love, but two pairs of idiots in love. 😂

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, but it was so long ago, I can't remember what fic it was, or what language it was translated into.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Ohhh, yes. About a third of my fics are co-written, and my biggest collaborator by far is the lovely @eyesofatragedy67, with 15 fics together and counting.

All-time favorite ship? Destiel... they're my OTP. I have other ships that I enjoy, and I'm happy to write Dean and Cas in poly relationships/situations, but destiel has a special place in my heart.

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I don't have any WIPs... Not on AO3 anyway. On Google Docs though, that's a completely different matter.

What are your writing strengths? Um... dialogue?

What are your writing weaknesses? Description. I struggle with that, and when I read a beautiful piece of description, I wish I'd written it. Also, I'm guilty of endless micro-editing while writing, and despite knowing that I shouldn't do it, it's hard to stop.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? No, I wouldn't touch that unless I had help from a native speaker.

First fandom you ever wrote in? Supernatural.

Favorite fic you've written? Against the Light. I'm not ashamed to say that I go back and reread it every once in a while, and I think it's a fairly decent piece of writing.
