Google Celebrates Ferdinand Berthier

Did anyone see the new Google Doodle for Google's homepage? Every day, they would have a new Doodle in tribute to honor someone or something. Today, they have decided to dedicate Ferdinand Berthier, a Deaf person in France - known as a Deaf educator and earliest of champions of Deaf identity and culture.

International Day of Sign Languages (23 September)

The annual celebration of International Day of Sign Languages on September 23 is done to raise awareness and extend support for the linguistic identity and cultural diversity of hearing-impaired people.

Sometimes people ask stupid questions when they don’t fully understand something. But here is my new post about the most cringe-worthy questions people who are deaf get asked is proving how surprisingly tone-deaf people can be (pun not intended).

Do not assume that we, deaf people who aren’t physically capable of doing regular things.

People who are hearing often think that having the ability to hear automatically means you have a “perfect” life. But seriously, they’ve never experienced our life or our world.

Like, “Are you really deaf?”

College of Education names its top students

Bloomsburg University’s College of Education recognized its Outstanding Seniors in each of its undergraduate for the 2019-20 academic year.

From the deaf and hard of hearing of education program Julia Krueger was recognized, while from American Sign Language/English interpreting Kate Andres was named the top senior.

In special education Abigail Potter is the top senior, while in early childhood education Joseph Kline was recognized. From middle level education Taylor Prehotsky was named the top senior, while Brett Budwash from secondary education was named the top senior.
