muse: freya laurey (district 9 victor of the 66th games turned rebel known for surviving despite losing her leg in the games) verse: main
the capitol was nothing if not an unfriendly husk to her. she never relished her time here. the second she set foot off the train, she wanted to go home. being a victor meant she had to spend some amount of time at the whims of the painted people. she generally stayed within the areas of the city she was familiar with, her routine guaranteed she was largely left alone. until she wasn't, she tried to mask her disappointment as the other sat down in front of her. she couldn't exactly stop them, it was a communal dining area after all. she ought to play nice, especially since it was just them in the dining room. i thought i was the only one that ate this late, she commented.

standing ovation | chaos fc
summary: monkey scores a goal to qualify england for the euros in 2025 in switzerland and decides to celebrate with the fans much to leahs' disagreement about it not being safe
chaos fc masterlist
"This is it. This is the game, let's 'ave it!" You're bouncing with energy as you exit the bus, arriving outside the stadium in Sweden, ahead of the game tonight.
It's an important game, it will be the one to decide whether your team will qualify for the Euros, or not.
You're beyond excited about it!
"Bet you a tenner you'll score the goal for us to win," Grace chimes in, appearing off the bus behind you.
"Pfft, easy money," Your confident, fauxing to wipe dust off your shoulders, "Prepare to hand over your money, Clinton Cards!"
"Alright, that'll do. Come on, inside and stop winding everyone up," Leah ushers you inside with her hand, "Got your boots and everything?"
You faux a distressed expression, "Oh, damn it..."
"Monkey," Leah groans.
"Ha, gotcha!" You replace your weary look with a mischievous smirk.
Leah swats your shoulder, "You little..."
"Swear jar!" You chime in, continuing to grin cheekily, "You swear and you have to put money in, remember?"
"Even when Buddy's not here, I'm still being reminded about that bloody jar," Leah huffs, shaking her head as she proceeds to get the music ready for the changing room, taking the job as team DJ very seriously.
"Swear jar," You repeat, mischievously, "Don't worry, I can always put the money in me pocket for now for safe keepin' if you'd like?"
"Come on. Get in!" You scream aloud, flailing your arms up in the air in celebration, "Ave' it!"
The roar of the crowd is deafening as you slot the ball past the keeper and into the net. It's an absolute stunner of a goal, the kind that will make the highlight reel for years to come.
The stadium erupts, the fans screaming themselves hoarse as the announcer confirms it.
You have scored the goal that has officially qualified England for the 2025 Euros.
It feels like a true dream come true.
You were already running toward the stands with your arms outstretched, your grin brighter than the floodlights overhead.
"Monkey! Don't even think about it," Leah's voice cut through the noise, sharp and commanding, but it fell on deaf ears -- You are too wrapped up in the moment to take notice of her words.
Before anyone can stop you, you vault over the barrier, straight into the crowd of jubilant England fans. They all surge towards you, a chaotic wave of hands and flags and chants of your name.
No matter how much you hate your biological name, for the moment you are too buzzing to care about it.
You were lost in a sea of people, your jersey being pulled and tousled as you basked in their adoration.
Leah is on her feet in an instant, shoving past all her teammates on the bench, "What on earth is she playing at?" She mutters, storming ahead of the chaos.
Her own heart is pounding, not from pride but from pure, unfiltered panic.
"That little menace. She's going to get herself killed," Leah speaks aloud to one of her teammates, none in particular.
It takes several stewards to untangle you from the crowd and guide her back toward the pitch, your cheeks are flushed with exhilaration and your hair is a mess. You're practically glowing as you jogged back, waving to the fans one last time.
Leah's waiting for her on the sideline, arms crossed, her expression thunderous.
"Hi, Mum," You chirp, flashing Leah a cheeky grin as your voice drips with faux innocence.
Leah, however, didn't say a word. Instead, she reaches her hand out and clips her around the ear--not hard, but enough to make a point.
"Ow," You yelp, rubbing the spot with a pout, "What was that for?"
"What the hell were you thinking?" Leah barks in disbelief, crossing her arms over her chest, "You scared the life out of me then! You can't just jump in a crowd like that. Do you have any idea how dangerous that was? You... You could have been killed!"
"Well, I think that might be a tad dramatic," You defend with hand gestures, "I was only celebratin'. Did you see me goal? It was epic!"
"Yeah, it was fantastic, Menace, but you running into the crowd like that-- You could have been seriously injured!" Leah's own pride was shadowed by her panic and fear for your safety, "You need to seriously think before doin' something like that, alright?"
You shuffle on your feet, the adrenaline of the moment giving way to sheepish guilt, "M' sorry, Mum... I didn't think."
Leah sighs, her anger softening as she pulls you into a brief, firm hug, "Just don't do it again, alright? You really scared me then."
"Gotcha," You mumble against Leah's shoulder, not wasting the time to speak again, "But you gotta admit, it was a really sick goal, wasn't it, Le?"
Leah huffs a reluctant laugh, ruffling your hair, "Yeah, it was a pretty sick goal, my girl," She agrees, "Maybe next time, you can celebrate a little less chaotically, yeah?"
You reply with a cheeky grin, "Ye' course, but no promises." Pulling away, your eyes scan around the stadium, "Aye, Clinton Cards! You owe me a tenner, remember? Cough up!"
Grace loudly from where she’s still celebrating with the rest of the team, “You actually scored the winner?! You jammy little–”
“Swear jar!” You cut in before she can finish, pointing at her smugly.
“Urgh,” Grace rolls her eyes, reluctantly digging into her pocket and pulling out a ten-pound note, “You’re unbearable sometimes, you know that?” She grumbles, shoving it into your hand.
“Cheers mate,” You say, tucking it safely in your sock for now, “That’s going towards my Haribo stash.”
“Absolutely not,” Leah chimes in, shaking her head at you before wrapping an arm around your shoulder, “Come on, Menace, we’ve got press to do before you can start robbing everyone blind.”
The adrenaline is still buzzing in your veins as you walk back toward the changing rooms, soaking in every bit of the moment. Fans are still chanting outside, and you can hear your name mixed in with the noise.
Leah keeps you close, her protective instincts still on high alert after your little stunt, “You’re not doing post-match alone,” She tells you firmly.
“Awh, shucks. Seriously? I was planning to tell them about the belter of a goal I scored!” You reply, still grinning from ear to ear, “You have to tell them how good it was!”
Leah huffs and rolls her eyes teasingly, “Yeah, yeah, don’t worry, I’ll make sure everyone knows how little menace is a star.”
You’re lad into the post-match interview room alongside Leah and Sarina, the space packed with reporters, and your eyes widen slightly, “Geesh, this is a lot of reporters in one room, ain’t it?”
That one earns a round of laughter from the reporters. You feel proud of that one.
“Kid! Congratulations on the goal!” One of them shouts in your direction.
You blush bashfully, “Aw, thanks. You guys just keepin’ me humble as ever— Where do I sit?”
“Over here, next to me,” Leah points to the seat beside her.
“Gotcha! Oo, these seats are comfy,” It’s a comment that earns another chuckle from several of the reporters before they fire away with the questions while you glance at Leah, nudging her, “Hey, Le. You know that scene in Ted Lasso? It feels just like that, right?”
“Just sit down, Monkey,” Leah sighs, though there’s a hint of amusement in her voice.
You do, but after a while, the words start blending together. You end up tuning out completely–until someone directs a question at you.
“Huh? Sorry, I wasn’t listening then…” You admit, sheepishly.
The reporter cracks an amused smile, “How are you feeling about scoring the goal that qualified England for the Euros?”
“Oh, uhm, well I’m absolutely buzzin’, to be honest! Best night of my life, and also…” You pause, reaching into your sock to pull out a crumpled tenner, “Clinton Cards–aka Grace Clinton, obviously–owed me a tenner, so I’m quids in! Bloody brilliant!”
Leah groans, shaking her head, “Monkey!”
Your eyes widen in realisation, “Oh, shit, I’m not allowed to swear am I?”
“Monkey!” Leah shoots you a firm look.
“Oh, right… Yeah, I just did it again, didn’t I?” You flash a sheepish grin directly into the camera.
The interviewer chuckles. “Well, congratulations again. I’m sure England fans everywhere will be celebrating this win tonight!”
“Cheers, mate!” You beam, proud of yourself.
A member of England’s staff steps forward, “I think that concludes the post-match interview for now. Thanks, everyone.”
As you saunter back toward the changing rooms, you shoot Leah a smug smile, “I rocked that interview, didn’t I?”
“You certainly did,” Leah chuckles, shaking her head as she guides you along, “Mind you, next time maybe avoid swearing on live TV?”
“I couldn’t help it, I was ecstatic!” You exclaim.
“Now you owe money to the swear jar,” Leah teases, ruffling your hair.
“Oh for fu…fudge sakes,” You correct yourself just in time.
Leah smirks, “That was a close one then.”
“Phew, I nearly lost out on the money I made,” You comment, pretending to wipe the traces of sweat off your forehead.
When you step into the changing room, the team erupts into cheers, showering you with water bottles and clapping you on the back.
“Here’s our little superstar!” Ella shouts.
“Who’re you callin’ little? I’m almost as tall as you!” You insist before attempting to try and square up to her.
“You absolute legend, kid!” Georgia cackles, “That goal was insane, but what the hell were you thinking diving into the crowd like that?”
You shrug carelessly, “It was a moment of passion, I guess. I thought the fans would like it!”
“Maybe next time, don’t nearly give Leah a heart attack, yeah?” Millie smirks, nodding towards the blonde, who is still very much watching you like a hawk.
Leah sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose, “She’s lucky I love her so much, that’s all I’m sayin’ but I’m bound to have grey hairs before I turn 30 at this rate.”
You flash her your best innocent smile before plopping down on the bench, basking in the moment as your teammates continue to celebrate around you.
“You’re not tired already are you?” Keira chuckles, nudging you playfully.
“It’s hard work bein’ the hero,” You sigh dramatically, stretching out across the bench, “Can’t lie, I’m knackered.”
“What? As if!” Keira scoffed, shaking her head.
“Come on, get up and dance, kid!” Lucy encourages, leaving you with no choice but to get up and join in the celebrations, “It’s not every day you score the goal to qualify us for the Euros! Make the most of it!”
The celebrations are still in full swing–you’ve already danced around the changing room, celebrated with the team, and made sure to rub it in Grace’s face that she owed you that tenner.
But there’s still one thing missing. One person missing that you need to see.
Leah has barely let you out of her sight since The Incident, keeping you within arm’s reach at all times. But the moment she gets caught up talking to Sarina, you see your chance to escape.
Without hesitation, you dart off, weaving through the tunnel and making a beeline for the pitch.
“Whoa, Monkey!” Leah’s panicked voice echoes behind you, “Menace! Where are you goin’? Come back here!” Her footsteps pound against the ground as she takes off after you.
You don’t even bother to look back, just wave a hand over your shoulder, “Relax, Le. It’s fine. I’m only goin’ to get Buddy!”
Leah stumbles to a stop, exhaling sharply before groaning in exasperation, “You’re such a menace, I swear to God,” She mutters, rubbing a hand over her face before jogging after you.
As you reach the stands, you immediately spot Buddy, curled up on Jacob’s lap with her head resting against his shoulder, her tiny hands wrapped securely around his neck.
“Guess who,” You tease, crouching behind her chair with a grin.
Buddy sleepily lifts her head, blinking blearily before gasping dramatically, “Monkey!” Her exhaustion vanishes in an instant, replaced by pure excitement, “Ou’re ‘ere!”
“I am, I’ve missed you, Buddy!” Without hesitation, you scoop your favourite little sidekick into your arms, holding her close, “Did you see my goal?”
“Ou’ scored, Monkey!” Buddy exclaims, eyes wide with admiration.
“I did! Proper pocket-rocket, weren’t it?” You grin, ruffling her hair.
“We also saw you running into the stands,” Amanda chimes in, raising a knowing eyebrow.
“Oh, I bet Leah had a field day trying to get you out of there,” Jacob adds with a smirk.
“I wasn’t impressed, believe me,” Leah huffs, finally catching up, still looking slightly frazzled.
“Mummy!” Buddy wriggles in your arms, reaching out with grabby hands, “Mummy! Mummy!”
“Traitor,” You mumble, narrowing your eyes playfully at your favourite little buddy.
Leah’s frustration melts away in an instant as she scoops Buddy into her arms, “Hi, my Bubba,” She murmurs, pressing a kiss to Buddy’s temple, “Oh, am I happy to see you!”
“Oh, and here’s the buzz kill,” You joke, earning a snicker from Jacob.
“Oi, watch it, you,” Leah warns, though there’s no real heat behind her words as she adjusts Buddy on her hip, “You’re lucky you didn’t get hurt pulling a stunt like that.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know,” You wave her off with a grin, “But it was fun though!”
Leah shoots you a disapproving look before turning her attention back to Buddy, “Did you like the game, Bubba?”
Buddy nods furiously, curling her little fingers into Leah’s shirt, “Mummy, ‘ou did an okay job out there,” She informs her seriously.
Leah fauxes a playful gasp, “Just okay?”
“Uh-huh. Monks’ did better. She scored!” Buddy insists, nodding decisively.
“Oh, I see how it is,” Leah hums before launching a tickle attack.
Buddy shrieks with laughter, squirming in her arms, “N… No, Mummy! Stop–I… Ou’ did a good job too!”
Leah grins, finally letting up, “That’s what I thought.”
You lean against the railing, smirking, “See? Even Buddy agrees–I’m the real MVP tonight.”
Leah rolls her eyes but pulls you into a side hug anyway, “Yeah, yeah, Monkey. Just try not to give me a heart attack next time, alright?”
“No promises,” You chirp, flashing her a cheeky grin.
Leah groans while Buddy, ever the little echo, claps her hands and shouts, “No promises!”
You snort, ruffling your favourite little buddy’s curls. “That’s my girl, Buddy,” You grin before pulling out your phone, “Whoa, check it out–I’m trending on Twitter!”

Susie huffed, looking down at the sheer amount of paperwork she had on her desk. She wanted to grab a bite to eat, but she had so much to do and she needed a lot more help than what the employees around her can provide. She pulled out her phone and texted her husband, Toto, for some advice. She was a strong independent woman, but even strong independent women need a bit of advice from their spouses sometimes.
And what she got from him was beyond helpful.
A personal assistant.
She was going to hire a personal assistant to help her around the Academy. The list of requirements wasn't long, but it was specific and the requirements that were listed were important for the assistant to have or they wouldn't work well together. Susie typed out the application furiously, making sure that all her requirements were stated clearly and made sure that whoever was filling out the application knew what they were getting into. She made sure they knew what they would be doing, an estimate about the schedule, and what she expected of whoever applied.
Susie finished up and posted it to the F1 Academy website. She also made a Instagram post about it that was a joint post with the official F1 account and the FIA account. With a sigh and a satisfied smile, Susie closed her laptop and put it in her bag.
Now all she had to do was wait for the applications to roll in. She didn’t expect too many since a lot of people were only interested in watching F1 or were, since the fans were mostly men, protesting against the F1 Academy.
Y/n looked at the link that her sister, Rachel, had sent her. Y/n had told her that she needed a new job after finishing college and Rachel had sent her a bunch of applications to different jobs. They were all just random jobs she had found on the internet, which led to where she was now.
She was staring at an application to be a personal assistant to some billionaire's wife who was the leader of some academy for girls who like driving glorified go-karts. It paid more than any of the other jobs that Rachel had sent applications for. Y/n mumbled on her thumbnail, pondering whether she should aim high and apply for the PA job or should she just go for what she knows that she would be able to get.
Y/n was deep in thought when she was startled by the loud sound of her FaceTime ringtone, which happened to be one the songs from her brother's group. "Ah, shit!" Y/n yelled, nearly falling out of her chair, "Who the fuck?!" The dark haired girl growled, grabbing the phone off the table. "Hello?" Y/n answered, "Hey, Y/n. What are you up to?" The deep voice of her younger brother exited the phone as she set it up so he could see her.
"Ah, baby brother! How are you? Loving the new comeback." Y/n said, standing up to grab a bottle of water from her fridge. "I'm great. The comeback has been good so far. Have you heard the entire album?" Felix asked, "Yeah, of course." Y/n answered, sitting at the table once more. The two of them sat and talked about her brother's most recent comeback before the conversation turned to her.
"So, what've you been up to?" Felix asked, shoving what seemed like a chip into his mouth, "When did you get those?" Y/n questioned, pointing to the box of fried potato sticks. "Ah, Chan bright them to me a bit ago." Felix answered, shoving another one in his mouth, "Well, I was thinking..."
"Uh oh."
"Shut up, Lix. Anyway, I was thinking that now I finished University, I should get a new job. One that fits my expertise better, you know? So I asked Rach to help and she sent me some applications she found online..." Y/n said, looking at the open webpage. "Yeah?" Felix spoke, urging her to continue her words, "She sent me one for some F1 Academy. It pays well and I fit the requirements, but..."
"But what?" Felix urged, "I don't know what the F1 academy is and it's in Monaco." Y/n sighed. "Where's that?" Felix questioned, "It's, like, right beside Italy, I think." Y/n answered, "Okay, so what's the issue? It sounds like a good opportunity." Felix said. "I don't want to move away from our parents and sisters." Y/n set her head on her hand, using it as a way to keep her head up, "I don't think mum and dad would want you to hold back for them. Neither would Rachel and Olivia. They would want you to go. They wanted me to go." Felix spoke up.
"Felix, that's because it was your dream. Your dream was to be an idol, so of course they weren't going to hold you back from doing it." Y/n groaned. "Y/n it doesn't matter whether it's your dream or not. It's a better job opportunity for you until you're able to start modeling the way you want." Felix suggested.
Y/n thought about it. It would be nice to make money until she finds a modeling agency that wants to sign her because waiting around for something to happen won't make her any money. She needed to pay rent and keep herself fed, plus, from what she researched about Monaco, they did not collect personal income tax or capital gains taxes. There were no property taxes in Monaco, but rental properties were taxed at 1% of the annual rent plus other applicable charges.
Monaco sounded like a dream. She really didn't think that places like that existed, but knowing that she'd keep every penny of her hard earned money sealed the deal. Y/n applied for the PA position and closed her laptop, "Okay, now to wait." Y/n let out a breath as she looked around her house.
There was no way she wouldn’t be getting the job. She was once an extremely popular Formula Two driver before she ended up quitting. She had met the likes of so many old Formula One drivers who were excited to see her race alongside them when she was ready, but she unfortunately couldn’t continue due to her mother not having enough money for her to have a seat and unfortunately no sponsers wanted to sponsor her.
Y/n stood up and threw her water bottle away. She hadn’t kept up with Formula One since she had left Formula Two and she was kind of curious how her friends from karting and F2 were doing. They were obviously doing better than her since they refused to keep in contact with her, but it’s alright. She could barely remember anything about them anyway so it didn’t matter. It did when she was younger though.
After she left and they stopped talking to her, she felt like everything was falling apart for her. She was living in the UK at the time, but decided to come back to Australia to be near her half siblings and step mother and start her career in modeling or something in the industry. Of course, her plans to model next to the likes of the Hadid sisters or other popular models, had fallen through and she had only become famous as the half sister of Felix Yongbok Lee, the freckled cutie with a deep voice of the famous Korean pop group, Stray Kids.
Y/n pulled out her phone and ordered some food, hoping that it wasn't a bad decision to put in only one application for a job that might be out of reach for her.
Oh well.
It had been a week since Y/n had sent in the application and she had been waiting for the call back. She was sitting on her couch, staring at the large flat screen TV that was playing a Sidemen Reacts video that popped up on her feed while shoveling hwachae* into her mouth when the sound of another song from her brother's band rang through the air. Y/n picked up her phone with the spoon hanging from her lips and looked at the screen.
It was an unknown number. Y/n didn't usually answer the calls of numbers she didn't know, but something within her told her to answer it, so she did. After pausing the video, Y/n hit the green button on the screen and put the up to her ear, "Uh, hello?" Y/n answered, accent thick. "Uh, hello. Is this Miss Y/n L/n?" A sweet feminine voice that was paired with a Scottish accent, asked, "Uhm, yes. This is her. How may I help you?" Y/n asked, setting the bowl onto the table and sitting up straight. "Yes, this is about the application you put in for the PA position at the Formula One Academy." The woman said.
Y/n sat there for a hot minute before her eyes widened, "Oh! Yes, ma'am. What about it?" Y/n asked, "I wanted to call and let you know that we are interested in having you in the position, but first we need to schedule an interview. Is there a specific time that you're available?" The woman asked.
"Uh, I'm currently living in Australia and not moving to Monaco until a next month." Y/n said. Truthfully, she didn't want to being that up, but she knew that it would be suspicious if she scheduled the meeting so far away. She knew that the fact she was living in Australia could possibly ruin her chances of securing such a good job, but she just didn't have it in her to lie to the very sweet sounding woman.
"Okay, um, I'll be right back. Hang on tight." The lady said, "Okay, ma'am." Y/n said. Once the woman put her on hold, Y/n put the phone on speaker, muted herself, and continued to watch her video until she heard something from the woman on the other line.
"Uh, hello?" The woman's voice spoke up. Y/n paused her video and quickly unmuted herself, "I'm here." Y/n spoke up. "Okay, so, we usually wouldn't do this, but we really think you'd be a good fit for the position, so I'll tell you what. Save this number. My name is Susie Wolff. Once you're moved into Monaco and finally settled down, give me a call." The woman, Susie, said. "Okay, thank you, Mrs. Wolff. I'll call you once I'm in Monaco." Y/n said, "Alright. See you then. Bye." Susie said before hanging up.
Y/n looked down at her phone with wide eyes before jumping up and onto her couch with a large smile, "I got it! I got it!" Y/n cheered loudly, jumping up and down as if she was a child on a super bouncy bed. "Holy shit, I have to let Felix know." Y/n said, jumping down from the couch and grabbing her phone, which fell out of her hand after she jumped up onto the couch. Instead of calling him, she texted him since she never knew his schedule.
누나- Noona? 아, 누구세요?- Oh? Who are you? 현진- Hyunjin 릭시에게 전화기 좀 주실래요?- Can you give Lixie the phone please
⋘ 𝑙𝑜𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑎… ⋙
Y/n quickly went to the room that held the boxes that she would use to pack away her things and smiled. It was never too early to begin packing.
Susie cheered. She had finally found the person she was looking for after a week. She was super lucky that she had decided to continue searching through the online applications rather than giving up on looking at the mediocre applications and deciding to hold a hiring fair or something.
Not only was Y/n L/n the most perfect candidate for the PA position, but she had the most relaxing and attractive voice Susie had ever heard other than her husband's.
Susie cleared her throat and looked at the work she had on her computer. She had never been as excited as she was now other than the time when she found out she was pregnant, had Jack, and started the Academy. Okay, she had been this excited before, but this is different. She can tell that she was going to be good friends with Y/n and shoe couldn't wait to work with the younger woman.

Hi! Glad to see you back! How about Jax Teller having a younger twin sister and what a day is like for them? If you don’t like that one how about Jax as a single dad to a daughter and how he takes care of her hem she is sick
She’s Teething
Jax Teller
As this is a flash fic this hasn’t been edited
As always reblogs and feedback is highly appreciated ❤️ if you want tagging in future parts let me know ❤️
Jax stared at the well stacked shelving units at the grocery store, right now he felt like he was drawing with no life ring to save him. His head was spinning as he bounced his seven month old daughter in his arms, he had tried everything to sooth her cries but nothing was working.
“Come on, babygirl,” he sighed, so close to admitting defeat, he had no clue what he was doing and he hadn’t admitted this to anyone but he was scared, ever since his girl walked out on him leaving him to raise their daughter on his own. “Please, stop crying,” he whispered, holding his hand on her head as he pressed a tender kiss against her skin.
He had no idea what medicine he needed, all he knew was his daughter was burning up and constantly screaming, nothing he did was soothing her.
“She’s teething,” a voice appeared from behind him.
“I’m sorry?” he questioned, spinning on the balls of his feet, cocking a brow at the old lady standing in the aisle.
“Your baby girl, she is teething,” the old woman said softly, pushing past Jax and grabbing, “try rubbing some of this on her gums,” she smiled, passing him a box that contained some sort of gel. Jax smiled gratefully at her, before taking the small box from her. “Also this, and also some of these.”
Jax just let the old woman toss stuff into his basket, he didn’t care how much it cost, all that mattered was that his babygirl wasn’t in any pain. He didn’t care as he tore open the box of teething biscuits, at the end of the day he was going to buy them anyway.
He watched intently as he daughter reached out grabbing the biscuit in her tiny hand, automatically pulling it to her mouth. At that moment Jax thought he had gone deaf as for the first time today she had finally stopped crying. He couldn’t help but let out a large sign of relief.
“Thank you, for everything,” he said softly, smiling at the old woman, “you have been a lifesaver.”
“You are more than welcome, son,” she hummed, resting her hand on his arm. “Your daughter is beautiful and don’t stress too much, you are doing amazing.”
Jax couldn’t find the words so he just smiled gratefully at her, as quick as she appeared she disappeared leaving Jax once again standing alone in the baby medicine aisle. Looking down at his daughter she was happily sucking away at the biscuit in her grasp, Jax didn’t care she was getting his Kutte covered in the food all that mattered was she was happy and content. Leaning down he pressed a kiss against the top of her head before heading to the check out.

SR-71 pilot recalls when he accelerated his Blackbird to Mach 3.2 and denied an F-15 pilot an “easy,” simulated kill against its Habu during a training sortie
The SR-71 Blackbird
During its 24 years of service, the SR-71 Blackbird gathered intelligence in some of the world’s most hostile environments. The Blackbird evaded all 4,000 missiles fired at it and, to this day, remains the only US Air Force (USAF) aircraft to never lose a crewmember associated with it; whether in the air or on the ground.
The Blackbird was designed to operate at extreme velocities and altitudes: in fact, from 80,000 feet, it could survey 100,000 square miles of Earth’s surface per hour. Thus, achieving a radar lock on it was extremely difficult for any hostile fighter.
Nevertheless, according to former Blackbird driver Col. Richard H. Graham, USAF (Ret.) there were two fighters that could achieve (simulated) SR-71 kills, but only under certain conditions.
F-14 and F-15 achieving simulated SR-71 kills
‘Don Emmons and I, as well as many other Habus, had flown numerous at “Tomcat Chase” and “Eagle Bait” sorties against our best fighters—the Navy’s F-14s and the Air Force’s F-15s,’ says Richard H. Graham, former SR-71 Blackbird pilot, in his book SR-71 Revealed The Inside Story. ‘We flew the SR to provide the fighters practice at finding, tracking, locking on, intercepting, and simulated firing of their sophisticated F-14 “Phoenix” missile and the F-15 ‘s AIM-7M “Sparrow” at a high-altitude, high-speed target. The “Tomcat Chase” missions were flown over the Pacific Ocean and “Eagle Bait” missions the Nellis AFB training area.’

Until the latest technology of Air-to-Air missiles came along (the AMRAAM, a fire-and-forget missile which in the first versions had a range of about 35 miles), the AIM-7 Sparrow, the only all the long-range missile fielded by the US Air Force (USAF) required the aircraft’s radar to continue tracking the SR-71 long after the missiles were launched. The Sparrow had to remain locked-on to the SR-71 in order for its Fire Control System (FCS) to relay tracking information back to the missile, so it could make appropriate corrections, racing towards the target. By turning on their Defensive systems (DEF, pronounced “deaf”) SR-71 crews could easily deny the F-15 fighters any meaningful radar information to guide their missiles.
Graham continues;
‘All I ever heard on the radios from the fighters as they sped underneath us was, “Ah damn it, we’re too late!” We tried for years to get SAC Headquarters approval to practice the same intercepts with Det 1’s SR-71s against Kadena’s F-15s. Every Det 1 Commander, particularly Col. Lee Shelton, pushed to get the practice intercepts approved because they believed a lot could be learned by both aircraft. Eventually SAC gave in to Colonel Shelton’s repeated requests and approved the practice intercepts. In order to get high enough to take a reasonable shot at us, F-15 crews were given special permission to do a zoom-climb to 50,000 to 55,000 feet before a simulated AIM-7 launch against the SR-71. They had permission to be above 50,000 feet for a maximum time of 90 seconds without wearing a pressure suit.’
Kadena intercepts
Former SR-71 pilot, Capt. Steve “Griz” Grzebiniak, writes about the Kadena intercepts in Graham’s book SR-71 Revealed The Inside Story.
‘We flew the HABU as a high-altitude target for the F-15’s only on our infrequently scheduled “DEBBIE” training sorties. We were the fighter’s “training aid,” but it provided us with some valuable training and insight as well. I think it’s common knowledge that our aircraft and pilots are the finest in the world and if anyone could shoot down an SR-71, it would be one of our own.
SR-71 pilot recalls when he accelerated his Blackbird to Mach 3.2 and denied an F-15 pilot an “easy,” simulated kill against its Habu during a training sortie
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/692720faf06ea4bacf27c652025e1aa3/0f1089d5fc5ac20b-78/s540x810/10368877983fa5c1ebcb7ac9f77c541404f5d786.jpg)
‘Our pre-briefed mission required us to fly a specific track, at Mach 2.8 and no higher than 70,000 feet. In addition, we were required to fly over a designated point in space (the IP) and call our time out from the IP in one minute intervals starting five minutes back. If that wasn’t enough, we would dump some fuel at the IP to help the fighters get a visual “tally” on us. After each mission, we would debrief by phone, and the F-15 drivers would report “four AIM-7’s launched, four kills on the HABU.”
SR-71 Blackbird crew denying an F-15 pilot a simulated kill against their Habu
‘The next target sortie Jim and I flew had a different outcome. We were scheduled to make two passes over the intercept track. The F-15 guys were excited to have another chance to “smoke” the HABU. On the next pass, Jim and I flew the plan as briefed. One minute calls from the IP, on course, on altitude, Mach 2.8, “here’s some fuel dump guys, come and get us.”
‘The next pass was different. I said to Jim that our F-15 jockeys are the best in the world, let’s give them a challenge. Jim and I knew that we were flying our favorite jet, tail number 962—she never let us down. We came down the track to the IP, making our one minute calls, but there was no fuel to dump because we were at 86,000 feet and Mach 3.2. The inlet doors were slammed shut and the jet was purring like a kitten. I made a shallow 10 degree bank turn, not so much to foil the F-15 ‘s intercept, but to allow Jim to see the contrails flailing below us.
‘In the phone debrief after the mission, the F-15 flight lead reported “four shots and four kills” on the first pass and mumbled something about radar problems and no kills on the second pass. Even with the world’s best planes, pilots, and missiles, it would take “a golden BB” [a lucky blind shot by the enemy] to bring down a HABU.’

I promise: Leah Williamson x reader
It was the UEFA Women's Champions League Final, the match was between Arsenal WFC and FC Barcelona, you were the captain of FCB.
You were in the 35th minute of the match when a collision between two girls made the referee call both captains, Williamson and you.
So far the game had been very close, neither team had scored a goal but there had been no shortage of attempts, both Arsenal and Barcelona were defending well, you felt a lot of pressure, you wanted that trophy, you and your teammates had worked so hard, they left tears and sweat in every game to get there, you knew AWFC did too, but you wanted it, you wanted that trophy.
When you got to where the referee gave both Williamson and you some 'advice' to keep the girls calm, there was tension, and neither team wanted a red card, while the referee was talking to them Leah lifted up her shirt to dry her sweat and you couldn't help but see it, you became deaf to what the referee was saying because you were looking at your opponent's perfect abdomen.
When the referee finished talking Leah nodded and thanked him, she was so cute, she looked at you and smiled "stop trying to get my attention Williamson" you told her biting your lower lip, Leah and you had a dynamic where you both flirted but neither made the first move, there was a lot of chemistry between you, everyone could see it and you loved it.
The referee's whistle blew and you ran to your position, Mapi who was nearby when you made the comment for Leah told you "concéntrate" (focus) "I am" you replied, and although for a moment watching Leah you liked it you had your mind on the game, you wanted to win.
The game continued in a tie until the end of half time, at half time you gathered your team to motivate them, to get this far they had to give their best and that was exhausting, but your words reached your team "VAMOS!" (let's go!) you finished saying.
The game was almost over and the score was tied, both teams had scored a goal, in this half time some things had happened for example a yellow card for McCabe you were surprised that it hadn't happened before, for Bronze there was also a yellow card.
You heard the shouts of joy from the thousands of people in the stadium celebrating AWFC's victory, in the extra minutes added to the game Miedema had scored a goal giving the victory to his team, you felt bad for your girls, your team, your family, you felt you had failed them, you threw yourself on the grass and your tears began to wet your sweaty face.
You raised your head because someone was approaching you, you saw and it was Leah, she threw herself on the grass near you "that's how it is" she said pausing and watching her teammates lifting the trophy "while some celebrate others cry, you and your team were amazing" you turned your head to see her "I let them down" you said wiping your tears "don't say that, you are an excellent captain, they know it, you gave everything in the match, you played with passion and that's what matters".
Leah's words gave you some peace of mind but you still felt bad, seeing your teammates crying broke your heart, but you were proud of them.
"Shall we exchange shirts?" leah asked you "I want your shirt" you looked seriously at Leah "I want you" you both stopped looking at each other to put your gaze on Ingrid who had teary eyes, as she got closer to you she made a military salute bringing her hand to her forehead "captains" she saluted them, you were glad to see she wasn't crying anymore "Maria and I want to have a drink, are you coming?" "Williamson no" you said lifting up "drunk and sad, something might happen if I have Williamson around" you winked at Leah "see you" Ingrid shook her hand as a goodbye and you both started walking
You stopped suddenly "I must do something" you said to Ingrid and ran to where Leah was "Williamson!" you shouted, being close to her you could speak "I already lost the game, I don't want to lose the opportunity too" you took a breath "what are you doing tomorrow?" Ingrid was a few steps behind you when Leah answered "maybe show off my trophy" you made a bad face at her, rubbing salt in your wound "fuck you Williamson" a laugh escaped from Leah's lips "fuck me" Ingrid came closer to you and looked at you as if she had heard something impossible, you were surprised too, had sweet Leah Williamson said that?
" I promise" you told her with a defiant look.

Sign language for FC Bayern Frauen
As with the men's team, the Red Deaf fan club has developed the names in sign language for the women team, the posters will be used at FC Bayern Frauen matches at the Allianz Arena, such as Saturday's game against Frankfurt.
Magull: "Breaking down barriers".
"I think it's great that FC Bayern fans have developed the posters for us players. A club like FC Bayern is a home for all people, and this project is a wonderful example of how people get to know each other, get closer, discover and cultivate common ground. Inclusion is always about breaking down barriers that should not exist. We are glad that, as FC Bayern, we can contribute to this." - Lina Magull
Gwinn: "Signs for everyone".
"The supporters of the 'Red Deaf FC Bayern Fanclub' have developed some very cool, beautiful and interesting signs for us; I would like hearing people to learn them too, because sport connects all people. When it comes to inclusion, it's crucial that we all find ways to do it together. No one has to feel excluded, neither on the playing field nor in our society." - Giulia Gwinn
Harder: "Encourage each other".
"In a team we always have to help each other. Things don't always go well and in one direction. So we have to support each other to be brave, even if we don't feel like it at the time. And what is true for us as a team is true for society as a whole. We have to encourage each other to be open, to step out of our comfort zone and take the first step towards others, even if we are not sure. I'm sure people will be surprised at how positive the reactions will be, and in the end we will all grow as a society." - Pernille Harder
Hansen: "Be open, take your time."
"Inclusion is important to me because absolutely everyone should belong in our society, whether it's in sports or wherever. It's important that we, as players, set a good example, serve as role models and make people think. Personally, I am grateful to be in a position where I can promote these issues. Everyone can contribute, and it often starts with being open, spending time with the other person and simply listening to what they have to say." - Tuva Hansen
Belloumou: "A school subject like other languages".
"We should all learn at least basic sign language at school. Just like we learn French, English or German. It would be a great sign for everyone, and society would become aware of what's outside the box. It is useful, and at least a first step, for athletes to become aware of the issue, as we do through our names in sign language. Personally, I am happy to be able to raise awareness of inclusion through our project." - Inès Belloumou

27/04/24 EDIT: Sorry for reposting this same yesterday's pic of my PT OC for the third time, because some of the textures in the picture have various errors, and even, I often forgot to show Peppino's blush. So, whoopiee 🙃.
Ughhhhh, man! But, after all, at last! It was literally lasted 19 days long, since I sometimes turned away from it as unfinished with sketchy details, until a few days of this week and even now I managed to complete it in terms of line drawing, coloring along with detailed schemes and even more texture applications, with barely diligent effort.
And even more especially, before the artistic work on the phone, I was thinking all the time in the invisible deaf about coming up with the idea to make an OC (or maybe FC, so I don't know for sure) for Peppino from this game, Pizza Tower as a new OCXCanon ship even now, because after the last year I watched some gameplay videos on YouTube and started to like this game so much, first of all, like others do, I started to have the most delicate crush on him together with others like the Noise and Fake Peppino (as for Fake Pep, I would rather consider inventing the idea of creating another but non-Peppino-related OC clone as a new OCXCanon ship only in the future).
Plus, regarding the name "Gommaticarer" I came up with it myself for this OC, I just accidentally connected it so automatically from between the two Italian words "gomma" and "masticare", mostly borrowed from the Italian-translated description on Google Translate website such as "gomma da masticare", which simply means "chewing gum" or "bubble gum".
But on the contrary, she will still fit in case I rather draw her more, say with her pose on the term, her physical abilities, even her side with Peppino in a romantic relationship, etc., whatever I do.
And I hope you really enjoy it.
Art and Lady Gommaticarer belongs to me (C)
Peppino from the Pizza Tower belongs to McPig/Tour De Pizza (C)

Olympique Lyonnais Behind the Scenes (Episode 5)
This covers the month of January. Better late than never but alas some of us have jobs that we want to keep and cannot be chronically online. The Behind the Scenes translations is one of those times where I wish I was technologically apt because then I could just upload the video and add subtitles, alas, neither OLPlay nor my technology skills will ever make that happen.
I have no shame in confessing to this - I didn't want to do this one because Carpenter is in it and I am so irked by all the fucking Arsenal fans/stans suddenly thirsting for her to join their godawful team after the abuse she is has gotten from Arsenal stans the past two years. To act like she should join that club after what those people have said / done is so completely tone-deaf. Likewise, suddenly using "le clean sheet" every time your goalkeeper does their actual job is not as cute/funny as you think it is. It's annoying. It's so fucking annoying.
I will also save those godawful stans the time and say that Lyon / Carpenter do not address Carpenter's engagement to van de Donk as Lyon is a serious club who doesn't use a player's personal life as a marketing ploy. The purpose of the Behind the Scenes is to get to know the players' mentality and thoughts about the month's events.
Blah blah standard disclaimers apply; @OL Comms I feel like chipping in to contribute my Starbucks fund is the least you could do considering all the free work I am doing for y'all; how amazing would it be if some of you would actually get the mental help you so desperately need; y'all know the speech.
OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS BEHIND THE SCENES (EPISODE 5)
Ellie Carpenter: We had a lot of games. We had Champions League games. I think it was a much needed break for everyone.
Selma Bacha: We really needed to have a break, because there are players who went straight into the World Cup so they didn't have a lot of rest. Everyone benefited from the break. For me, I went to Tunisia, where my family is originally from. So I had a great time with my family. And then we started up again. The break was short.
Damaris: It was good for everybody I think to go home, to be with our families and friends. Just to push football aside and enjoy ourselves. Yeah, that's always a good thing.
[OPENING CREDITS]
[TRAINING FOOTAGE FROM GIRONA]
Sara Dabritz: We went to preseason camp. It was really good. We spent a lot of time together. We had a nice hotel. It was intense but it's like that in camp. But I think it was good for us to prepare for the [second half of the] season.
Carpenter: The training camp in Spain was a nice way to come back at the start of this year to train well, to get the basics back, get back in the gym. And it was also really fun for the team morale. The camps with the team are always really fun. We have to work fun but also enjoy ourselves off the field.
Bacha: It was hard because you come back from break and you have to dig deep and work hard. So it was really hard because we had a fitness test over there.
Carpenter: The worst moment was probably the running test we had to do, the 1.5km [1 mile] sprint test.
Bacha: Honestly, that's when you realize that Olympique Lyonnais is a family. You can see it in the video clips, we're encouraging each other. The cohesion was top.
[TRAINING FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: My favorite moment was the team cohesion activity with the golf carts. Honestly it was so good. We had to do stuff - well, we had to do funny things. It was the best part.
Carpenter: Driving around the hotel trying to find clues, that was very fun.
[TEAM COHESION ACTIVITY FOOTAGE]
Carpenter: Yeah, we knew we had Paris FC as soon as we got back from Christmas break. After having been off we thought it might be hard to come back and play against a top team in Europe, in France for sure.
[LYON - PARIS FC GAME FOOTAGE]
Bacha: We got right into it. We know that those sort of games, they're going to very very big games because Paris FC is a really good team who has really improved and recruited really well. And honestly, it was a big game. We had to work for that win, so the game was won on mentality.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Paris FC has shown that they're a great team, they're a top team in Europe, doing well in the Champions League and, yeah. The intensity was high. I think you could feel that everyone just came back from holidays but we'll fight, until those last five minutes when we did score.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: Ah, Ada's goal, that's just Ada Hegerberg. That's it. There's no other forward who can do that. Honestly, when we celebrated - even I spoke in English, I said "what a goal". [Hegerberg speaks English when she's annoyed, which is why Bacha brings up the linguistic switch] Her shot was really incredible. You can watch it over and over. If you ask her tomorrow to do it it, she will. And it's true that she's the kind of player whom you can count on in big games. Everyone should have an Ada on their team.
Damaris: Yes, it was a magnificent goal. Speaking for myself, I was far back. It was a long ball, I headed it forward. I saw the ball stay there and I saw Ada [Hegerberg] call for the ball. When you're behind, you can see everything. Right before she took the shot, I was like "well, that's going to be a goal."
Carpenter: Yeah, she's a big game player, she scores big goals. So we needed that in that moment and she did that. So it was very cool.
[LYON - PARIS FC POSTGAME FOOTAGE]
Bacha: Honestly, it's good for us and it gets us going. I think we've been really good since the start of the season. And when I talk with players on other teams, or other coaches, they tell me that Lyon this year is unbeatable, so I hope it continues like that and we'll bring all the trophies home.
Damaris: The work we did for that game, we worked really hard. I don't think we were really efficient but we had a lot of opportunities to score.
Carpenter: Yeah, I think it was important that we started the year off with three points and continue our perfect streak in the league.
[LYON - MONTPELLIER COUPE DE FRANCE GAME FOOTAGE]
Dabritz: We had the game against Montpellier in the Coupe [de France]. I remember Amel [Majri] scoring a magnificent goal. It was a right on target.
Majri: Yeah, I saw Lindsey [Horan], she won the ball back. I called for it, she passed it to me. I think Ada [Hegerberg] was besides me asking for it as well, but I don't know, I think I was focused on what I was doing. So I just took a shot and it went it.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: Yeah, it's really great. Good on her as well because you can see she is starting to get her rhythm back. It's not easy when you're not playing all the time. Here, honestly, I'm just so happy for her. I hope she continues like that because she's the sort of player we really need.
Carpenter: Yeah, I love playing with Amel [Majri]. Yeah, I think she's one of the best players in the world I've seen or played with. [is she though...] She's an amazing talent and you can see what she's capable of now when she's getting back to the top of her game.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: The team is in very good spirits at the moment, and you can tell that on the field. Off the field, we're a very close group and we work for each other. And on the field, you can see we're very connected. We're just enjoying ourselves out there, we're not too much pressure [on ourselves], we're just trying to play good football.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Majri: So really, when I went to call for the ball, I could see that even if I got it, I didn't think I could do much with it. So I said to myself, "Amel, leave it", so I left it and there was Ada [Hegerberg] and then a goal. And I thought - well I'm not going to lie to you, when I left I thought to myself "I hope she gets it". And to be frank she was doing great work before, because Lindsey [Horan] got past the opponent, and she [Hegerberg] just shot across. Honestly, it's a great goal.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Majri: Yeah, I'm happy because it's always nice to implicated in the build-up to a goal. I think that what I bring in terms of the style of play, I try to be involved in the ball movement, moving with the ball, moving without the ball. And I have good sensations, I feel good. Beyond that it's also the fact that I have been playing in consecutive games. But in terms of full games, I think it's one of my best performances since I have come back.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: I guess playing a team one week after the other, twice in a row, it's quite difficult. It was a different Montepellier we faced at their home as well, away. Yeah, it was a tough game, it was one we had to grind out. Yeah, we knew they were going to come out different, like after beating them in the Coupe [de France], we knew it would be a completely different game since they're at home, and they totally showed that.
Bacha: We know that the league and the Coupe de France have nothing to do with each other. We know that Montpellier is a very, very aggressive team. And we knew that playing at their stadium was going to be hard. But here, yeah, it was really hard.
[MONTPELLIER - LYON GAME FOOTAGE]
Bacha: The night before the game, I was really focused on myself. I knew there were people coming to watch us, members of my family. And then, corner. It comes back to Eugenie [Le Sommer], who gives it back to me, and I was like - I knew exactly where I wanted to put it. So I pulled it in and placed it on Vanessa [Gilles]'s head. So really, really happy.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: It's that left foot, it's my left foot. What can I say. But beyond that, I work really hard. I know that I always want perfection. Because I know there are games where the crosses aren't good, but I really want perfection.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: My second assist for Ada [Hegerberg], it's vintage Ada-Selma. It's that connection that I think not a lot of people have. Honestly, with her, I know where she wants the ball and - honestly, I don't even have to look up. Because I cross, but I already know where she is.
Carpenter: Yeah, Selma [Bacha] is a great crosser, a great assister. Yeah, they're perfect, those crosses, pinpoint. If it wasn't for her we probably wouldn't have gotten the three points. So it was great to have her service [LOL at the Franglais here - the correct word would have been contribution], it allowed us to score goals.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: I remember that it was a very intense game. But it's always like that against Montpellier. It's always a game which comes down to the duels, to aggression. They came back with that goal, it was a game which was a little [Dabritz mimes going back and forth] But then we won it and that's the most important thing.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: We gave it all on the field. And it's normal to have games which are more complicated than others. And yeah, Montpellier is a good team, I can admit that.
Bacha: That's why I said that Olympique Lyonnais, the mentality - honestly, there are few players who can walk on to this team and say they already have that mentality. [@/any team other than Lyon. A blood lust isn't innate. It's learned behavior.]
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: We went to Austria for a Champions League game. Those are always special games for us. It's a particular game, playing the Champions League, those games are seen as the highest level.
[ST POLTEN - LYON PREGAME FOOTAGE]
Carpenter: Yeah, you never know really, when you go to other teams, other countries, how the pitch is going to be. Yeah, the pitch wasn't great. But we made the most of it and we had quite a good game.
Bacha: A stadium which was ... [Bacha laughs] It was a complicated game. No, playing on that pitch was complicated, it was a bit hard. But we started strong. We attacked from the start, even if we were starting to feel the tiredness. But we attacked from the start and were playing simple. And honestly, we were very efficient as well.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE]
Dabritz: And yeah, we played a really good game, with a lot of goals and a really good performance from the entire team.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: [forcefully] We never underestimate a team. When you play simple and individually you're clean, technically you're clean, and you're all on the same wave length, honestly there are not - we're good.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Getting players back from injury, it's always nice, especially when they're providing assists and scoring goals. That's even better.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: Yeah, it was a good goal. [laughs] We really enjoyed ourselves on the field, we had nice combinations, we were explosive offensively. At least I think so. So we were really happy after the game.

[TRAINING FOOTAGE / COUPE DE FRANCE LYON - FC NANTES FOOTAGE]
Bacha: Yeah, it wasn't an easy game because maybe in our heads, even if I think it's not really like that, but instinctively it's human nature and we underestimated them. FC Nantes came in with their game plan. They're a really good team, I was surprised. The first half was difficult. I think it's a little bit because exhaustion is starting to creep in. But the changes at half time did us some good and we were really efficient. The coach [Sonia Bompastor] yelled a bit at half time but it's normal. It's like that.
Carpenter: Yeah, I think fatigue comes into play there. I think it was our fifth or sixth game in a run. They were a different team, we hadn't really played them before. I think we can put that first half behind us and I think we really came out better in the second half. But yeah, I think we ended the game better than we started.
[LYON - FC NANTES GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Yeah, it was so nice to see Delphine [Cascarino] make her return from her ACL. Obviously it's such a long rehab, such a long journey. It's tough to have an injury and go through something like that, and it's her second one as well. But I think she's done an amazing job. You can see in the way she's come back, she still has her speed, has her footwork.
Bacha: It was a really good moment for Delphine, the return against FC Nantes. We saw her struggle, her mentality is just incredible. It's really hard to have the ACL injury happen twice, to have missed the World Cup when we were expecting her, we wanted her there. Now she had the mentality, she dug deep. I'm really happy to see her back because it will really do us good.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D / LYON - SLAVIA PRAGUE GAME FOOTAGE]
Carpenter: Yeah, we knew we were first in the group and obviously qualified, but we also knew we needed to put out a strong performance [they did not]. We wanted to keep the flow going for how well we're doing this month [of January]. On game day, obviously not everything went to plan. Obviously I think fatigue played a little bit in that as well, but that's not really an excuse. We should be better. We had 10,000 people come and you know, the more people that come the better, at least for us. We want to perform well, put on a show, for them to come back again.
Bacha: First of all we have to thank the fans who come out and support us. They're becoming more and more, so we need to thank them and for them to continue coming out and supporting us. After, it was hard because - well personally, I could feel the exhaustion. Then Slavia [Prague] was playing with a really low block. They came to get something at Lyon, even if we were already first and already qualified. At the end of the day we're Olympique Lyonnais. It's not acceptable to have played that sort of game.
LYON - SLAVIA PRAGUE GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Yeah, it was very frustrating. I think games like that, you want to play the next game very quickly after so you can have a good reaction.
Dabritz: We were a little disappointed because we weren't happy with our performance. We wanted to show to the public that we can put on good performances, they came for us. That's why we were a bit disappointed. Beyond that, we want to continue, we always want to improve, progress. We always want to give our best. But it's not always possible.
Bacha: I'd rather it happened to us then than get to the quarterfinals and you're knocked out I hope it will serve as a lesson to us.
Carpenter: No team is perfect in the world. Some teams have draws or a loss and it's not the end of the world. I think we need to remind ourselves that we're also human as well. Not every game is the best game. January is probably the biggest month we've had in a long time. We knew we had a lot of games, we had to get points, play well, perform. I think as a team we did that great, especially as we have some injuries at the moment as well so we had to adapt. I think the team has held up well. We're ready for February.
