In another universe, for whatever reason, Testuji is the one that died first, before Kayleigh. She would take Riko in, raise both boys as athletes (firm, authoritative, but still kind, still a mom), because in no universe would the moriyama main family take riko back in.

Would she take his place as master at evermore? Or would someone else?

The worst part of this au is that this may save riko, may save kevin, but wouldn't save neil, nor jean. Especially jean.

riko wakes up with a start, looking around the room wildly, his mind racing. however, he finds himself in his room in the nest, the walls still dark and familiar, and the automated lights buzzing on. whats going on? hes supposed to be dead! ichirou had held a gun to his head and pulled the trigger... whats going on? hes looking around the room when his eyes land on the lump in the bed across from him. that was kevins bed. that bed was supposed to be empty. he slowly gets up and moves over to the bed, walking quietly, his mind racing. he slowly reaches for the covers and pulls them aside, revealing...

"kevin?"

riko is so confused, and when he doesnt get an answer he shakes kevin roughly, making him gasp and fly awake.

"ah-fuck-riko stop-im awake!" he flails around and shoves riko away a bit, rubbing his eyes "is it time to get up already?" he stretches and yawns before his eyes catch on rikos bewildered expression, "uh, you okay 'ko?" the use of the old nickname makes riko intensely nostalgic, and he realizes something weird is going on. kevin hasnt called him that since he left. he decides the best course of action is to lay low and figure out what the hell is going on. he clears his throat. "uh, yeah. fine."

they get ready in silence, kevin rushing as usual so they can at least eat something before practice. they manage to get ready and riko gets through practice without raising too many red flags, but after practice, tetsuji calls them aside, and what he says makes riko freeze. the erc wanted them to compete. they suspected kevin was holding back. he could practically say the words as they came out of his uncles mouth. hes left in a daze afterwards as kevin rambles about how the erc is wrong and rikos the best and how hes not holding back really he isnt- but rikos not listening.

hes somehow been sent back almost 2 years.

hes been given a second chance.

“I asked nicely. And when that didn’t work I warned her, Kevin. I gave her three strikes, now she’s out.” Andrew says, crossing his arms. He doesn’t regret it. He doesn’t like the tiny scar that he has over his ear thanks to broken glass. He doesn’t like that Aaron didn’t appreciate it. But he would do it again if he had to.

In fact, if Nicky wasn’t so hung up on his relationship with his parents, Andrew would’ve killed them by now. After all, they’re hurting him just by existing. And if they were dead, Nicky wouldn’t have to worry about their approval. Of course, Andrew doesn’t need another reason to slaughter Luther Hemmick. He’s got plenty already. 

Andrew’s almost talked himself into visiting Columbia tonight when Kevin Day’s Memory Show starts playing in his head. Abuse from Riko, abuse from Tetsuji. Towards Jean, towards Kevin. Fear, panic, pain.

Andrew’s seen flashes of Kevin’s time at The Nest. Kevin’s mind dredges it up constantly, most often for no reason. He hears a random noise and suddenly it’s the sound of a racquet against a body, bones being fractured, a scream. Kevin stares blankly for a moment, lost in the past, and Andrew taps his forehead to bring him back.

WIP Wednesday - 10/11/23 (Closed) | A Foxhole Bake AU

"This week's showstopper is a bit of a new one for the tent. We have asked the bakers to make a complete and immaculately decorated sheet bake. We do wish to see 3D visuals on these sheet bakes." Prue reminds the bakers, "It cannot be a flat frosting drawn image on your sheet bakes." she says.

"With that reminder to exist in the 3rd dimension now thoroughly implanted in your heads you have 4 hours for your Show Stopper challenge this week." Noel Fielding says. "So on your mark." Noel starts.

"Get Set," Sandi continues.

"Bake!" All four yell the same time.

"This week Andrew is bringing Halloween to his sheet bake since he will be making a fudge brownie graveyard." The announcer explains over a drawn picture of the brownie graveyard with a tombstone that read RIKO with a small dead raven on it.

something i often think about in relation to kayleigh day is we don't actually know anything about her

she could have been as abusive as tetsuji or at least close to it and it's not like kevin would've been able to tell

i dont actually believe she was abusive but its an interesting thought, that in any universe kevin would have ended up with an abuser at one point

God that would be fucked up. Entirely plausible, though. A big point of the Kayleigh Lives AU is that I don't believe that anything could have stopped Kevin from going down the path he did, not just because of The Plot™, but because it's integral to how the AFTG universe works that the Moriyama's will get what they want, and I can't see a reality where Tetsuji doesn't want Kevin for his team. I can see a universe where, if their worldviews were similar enough, Kayleigh could surrender him willingly to Tetsuji.

But yeah part of what makes me so interested in Kayleigh is how much of a character she isn't, you know? Even compared to the other Dead Moms™, we know very little about her personally. The circustances of her death and the details of what her relationship with Wymack was like all are things Nora only answered in the EC. And I think it's fun to extrapolate what she might have actually been like. What we know of her personality comes from very biased sources, people who loved her, and the picture of the kind, generous person is a sharp contrast to the actual facts we know about her. I don't think I can say enough times that LIYING to someone, with whom you had an otherwise positive relationship, about having their child because YOU think that's what would be best for them is not a Good Person thing to do. It's very fun playing with the contradictions! I love ruthless evil ambitious Kayleigh just as much as well-intentioned naively optmistic Kayleigh and everything in between.

Realistically, she probably wasn't neither good nor bad. They (Kengo Moriyama) just hated to see a girlboss winning.

Yes, he knew. Neil was a special case, but from what he’d remembered most of the people at the nest had maybe known that the school considered them expendable if they’d be more useful as spare parts. Only Kevin had even known the truth about Riko, and that was only because he was Tetsuji’s ward, not the school’s. He had to know, because they lived together.

Still.

“Sure. But you know enough that you wanted to mention something last night. What was it?”

Neil needs to know. He needs to know because Stuart and the Hatfords might be his best and only chance at living his life Whole, even if he doubts he could do it free. But he’s been in North America for too long, and the last contacts his mother spoke to lied to her. The criminal world can move and change fast. Even if Kevin doesn’t know much information, it might be more than Neil knows right now. Which might make the difference between living two years or two weeks.

So I have to say, @isshinene kind off inspired me to do this Animatic ;w; Like thanks to you I listened a ton to “I won’t say I’m in Love today” and, I just got...very inspired? Also when I listened to the male Version again, it just kind off really made me think off Yakuza AU (because of course it did). I mean all the denial that’s going on there. I would have loved to make an animatic for it anyway, so why not ;w;

Honestly, I’m such a mess. 

I’ve been debating with myself the entire day if I should do it or not and of course I, the genius, settle on doing it when it’s 00:22! But I honestly had a lot of fun, and I hope some of you might enjoy it as well.

It’s mainly the LA5T 5HOT5, Eizan (I swear why is it that whenever I make an animatic a person with the surname Eizan plays a primary role?), Isshiki and Kuga. But there are a three guest appearances (because I just couldn’t not include them honestly)

can i ask why you dont think jean would've been saved if kayleigh took over rather than tetsuji? because to my understanding jean would've been sold to the ravens and as riko grew up under better care, he wouldn't implement those tortures on jean. sure his life wouldn't be amazing but it'd be significantly better than now right? i think neil is the one who wouldn't be saved and by association, andrew. mary still would've had to have run, taking neil with her and neil still likely would have joined the foxes but without a partner to obsess over exy with, would he have survived? the foxes wouldn't improve that much and Neil's lifeline would kind of dissipate. without a thread to hold on to via promise of keeping kevin safe, andrew also has no lifeline. neil never would've pushed back for his survival against the moriyamas and his father if kevin wasn't at threat and a constant diva about it. I'm so sorry for veering off topic but I basically wanted to know if you had any gut-wrenching reasoning for why jean wouldn't be saved in that au

Okay SO. The thing is, i'm unsure about what would happen to the ravens is testuji was gone, which is the main problem with discerning what would happen to jean. It would be cool if keyleight was in fact to take over as "master", but honestly outside of making a cool au i doubt that is what would have actually happened, because the main branch of the Moriyamas use the side branch to do like..money laundering and they hold meetings in the nest, and why would keyleigh be cool with that? Also the entire raven cult holds onto having a Master that is as a God to them, and again, why would keyleight be cool with that? I think that put in that position, she'd dismantle the cult part of the team, but that is not at all useful to the moriyamas, so why would Kengo appoint her as master?

But anyway, let's analyze the two possibilities:

1) She is not the new master, let's say someone that works for the main family is, or one of the coaches.

2) she is in fact the new master.

What would happen to Jean?

Let's remember that in both of these cases, the Moreaus are indebted to the Moriyamas specifically.

1) Why would Kengo decide to settle the Moreau's family debt by taking a 14yo and sent him to the nest, where he'd be the only person under 18, to be taken "care" of by this coach? The perfect court was Tetsuji's project. He was the one that had a plan to groom children into stars. That's a personal project, not a shared idea; even if it were to be a shared idea, it wouldn't be at the time of this AU, which starts with his death when riko is less than 9. At the time, he was already grooming him specifically, but it didn’t become a whole thing (a public thing) until after he 'acquired' kevin too. The moriyamas would require this debt to be settled differently without Tetsuji there to ask his brother for a 'gift'. And this opens two possibilities: Jean being sold to someone else, so the money can go to the moriyamas (improbable, because they probably were severely in debt and like,, i don't think people sell for that much. Im not at all an expert though) or go to the main family. Now. Being owned by the main branch? As a slave? I can't see this going any better than canon honestly. They'd put him to work, one way or another, or use him for spare parts. Or both.

2) Now onto the second option, with Keyleigh being the new Master: again, the perfect court isn't her project, so she wouldn't even think about it probably, let's say that kengo decided to hold his business meetings somewhere else and let her run the court, and she'd know that something foul is going on with that part of the family but she decided not to care or not to investigate... kengo can't just gift her a whole ass kid. (Not that he would, again, why would he even think of that) "hello best friend of my deceased brother, here, take this french kid. No, he doesn't speak english. Yes, he is 14. No, you own him now, don't worry about his parents" like?? So once again, to settle the debt they'd sell him, as in 1

So yeah, this is how i'd see it play out. In canon, he was tortured in the worst ways possible, and now he owns 80% of all the money he ever makes to the mafia, but like. At least he is alive. He has a chance at happiness. In this au, he'd either be killed before adulthood or spend his whole life as a slave (sexual? For work?) He'd still live through torture, and if they made him work for them he'd also be force to kill or torture OTHERS which isn't an easy toll to shoulder, but he'd never even get the chance to be somewhat free. So yeah.

Neil is a whole other story, maybe i'll explain how i see it play out later if someone's interested

Also! Me too! <3 I'm so glad y'all are pumped about my writing as well. It makes me feel insane how... Well, Insane I get about my own AUs. Spoilers for Angel Neil below!

Yes. Kayleigh is Kevy's angel. We don't know that yet so don't tell anyone, okay? ;) As opposed to Mary, who was too murderous and was taken from her son... Kayleigh was too 'easy going' I guess. Not on purpose. She just wasn't sure what to do to stop the abuse without killing Tetsuji and losing Kevin forever.

But... She's the one who pulled out that letter explaining that David was Kevin's father for him to find. She's the one who whispered 'Get out. Run. Go. You have to. They'll kill you.' after Riko broke Kevin's hand. She tries really hard to guide Kevin, but doesn't actually interfere- that much.

It's very fucking hard. I mean... She's been dead since Kevin was like... eight. He's almost twenty now. She's thought about appearing to him a dozen times, but was afraid of the consequences. Because being in Kevin's life this way is better than nothing. And she's very proud of her boy.

(Eventually Neil will bump into her and be stupefied. The woman who created exy and Kevin Day spoke to him??? Star struck.)

As for the other's, I honestly haven't given much thought to them. TwT I'm sorry guys. I guess Neil and Kayleigh are the foxes' angels? But yeah, Andrew pretty much watches out for his people and Neil watches out for him. So... :)

Neil is Adora but only in like a Raven!Neil situation. 

Glimmer is Kevin and Aaron is bow. They’re best buds, beech! 

Also, Nicky and Erik are Aaron’s dads bc that’s already canon.

Queen Angela is Wymack and King Micah is Kayleigh

I debated this one for a long time but eventually decided that Scorpia is Jeremy. Jean keeps being an absolute ass to him while Jeremy never fails to keep his head up bc Jean is his friend! He loves him :’)))

It took me .2 seconds to decide that Andrew was Double Trouble. It would explain why everyone is so distrusting of Andrew. Also, angsty Aaron and Andrew learning they have a twin fighting on the opposite side of the war

How do Neil and Andrew get together in this Perfect Court AU?

It starts with Riko getting Doe - he’s Minyard now, Minyard Nathaniel has to remind himself - off the medication. A stupid mistake on Andrew’s part, to get caught up beating the men half to death just for the sake of a cousin he barely knew. The court case, the mandated medication that kept him flying with dead eyes and a smile that was as bad as Riko’s when Kevin wasn’t forcing Riko’s pills down his throat. 

The teenager Nathaniel met at juvie was cold and considering, faintly amused. The one that comes back to them, finally, to the castle where he belongs is manic and laughing - always laughing. It’s never funny, not when he has a knife in his hand or when Riko thinks he can make Nathaniel afraid. Riko is quick to get tired of it, because he didn’t recruit this diminutive goalie to laugh at them during practice. 

He assigns the withdrawal to Nathaniel, because Nathaniel was the one to convince Andrew to come to Evermore, to be a Raven. The one that made a promise to Minyard. Get him clean, or else, Riko hissed to him, with a knife in his hand that Nathaniel still isn’t afraid of. Not now, not ever. Riko made him a promise, hands off his perfect court, and Nathaniel knows Riko won’t break it. 

So it’s Nathaniel in a black room with Andrew as the drugs leave him manic, then shaking, then sick. It’s Nathaniel that brings him water and food, but never touches him when Andrew says no. Even when Andrew is thrashing, almost seizing in his withdrawal, Nathaniel quietly asks if he can help and it’s Andrew’s hands clasped in his. It’s not wrists pinned down, it’s not platitudes that Andrew will get better, that he’ll be okay. 

It’s scarred hand in scarred hand and Nathaniel telling Andrew that it will pass and Nathaniel is going to get him through this. He made promises.

Andrew cares very much about his promises, because nobody has ever kept them. (Cass tried, but she didn’t know. She couldn’t. Andrew took a knife to his skin again and again to stop her from ever knowing the truth. Now all she can do is cry for her dead son.) 

It takes a week to flush it out of him. The room smells of sickness and sweat, and Andrew is drained and half delirious but he can remember. He can remember Nathaniel’s hands in his own, he can remember Nathaniel asking each and every time before those careful hands ease him up to drink water, to push sweat matted hair back from his forehead, to hold his hands while Andrew empties his stomach of everything Nathaniel tried so painstakingly to get in to him. 

And when he looks up on his first day of sobriety in nearly a year, it’s to blue eyes, so so blue. Like ice, jagged and crystal clear and seeing Andrew. He thinks ‘this will be a problem’. 

Two months later he’s watching Nathaniel pick himself to his feet on shaking knees, the side of his face beginning to swell from the tip of Tetsuji’s cane. Andrew knows there’s more beneath his jersey, stripes of green and yellow that will turn to black and blue and leave Nathaniel breathless as he tries to dress. The beating that he took because of Andrew, for Andrew, because Andrew let goals in during their game with USC. 

Defiant, beautiful, dangerous Nathaniel that gets to his feet and stares at Tetsuji’s retreating back not with fear but with loathing. Andrew thinks ‘this is definitely a problem’. 

It’s a problem because Nathaniel finds him on the roof of Evermore castle a week later, his eyes like pale lanterns in the darkness. He takes the cigarette from between Andrew’s fingers - the cigarette Andrew would be beaten for, because it’s a risk to his lungs, to his health - and sucks on it. Gets the scent of it on his clothes, in his hair. Those dark lips around the filter Andrew’s mouth had just touched. 

There’s a 4 on Nathaniel’s still bruised cheek and a 5 on Andrew’s unmarked one because Nathaniel keeps playing the fucking martyr and Andrew never asked him for this. Never wanted someone to save him. He’d yelled and hissed and spit about it with Riko and Kevin and Jean staring at them. With Nathaniel folding his arms and promising that Tetsuji will pay. Nathaniel will make him pay. Soon. Soon. 

And Andrew is leaning in and smelling the cigarette smoke on Nathaniel’s mouth and whispering “yes or no?” and he hates that Nathaniel smiles at him and he hates the curve of those dark lips and he hates the vicious light in those blue eyes because it’s defiance and danger and it’s been used to promise things to Andrew, to protect him. Nathaniel keeps his promises and Andrew fucking hates him for it. 

He hates the way Nathaniel whispers back, “yes” before Andrew kisses the taste of nicotine off his tongue.

All Noboru wanted to do during the Winter break was to be away from all the stress, and he was pretty successful in doing that… for a while. He was currently sipping coffee, very pleased with the silence. It was one of the rare occasions that he should treasure-

Ding dong.

He placed his mug down and looked at the door cor a couple of seconds. It must have been Ran or any one else from the Elite Ten. He just hoped it wasn’t Hiraku. He sighed softly before walking to the door and he hoped he wouldn’t regret the choice. He twisted the knob and opened the door, and the first thing he spotted was… a fellow First Seat.

“… Tsukasa.” He mumbled her last name and the girl lit up, a grin on her face. Since he was so up close- he really noticed her fang. Her eyes gleamed in happiness and before he knew it, she began holding his hand and dragging him outside. “What are you doing?!”

Takara decides not to answer, she only begins humming a tune that they were both familiar with. “Do you want to build a snowman?” Great… Just great. A song from Frozen. She was singing a Disney song to try and persuade him to join her. “Come on, let’s go and play!”

Noboru was surprised that she was the first seat when she seemed so chill. He had to deal with his work, and he was constantly stressed with all the work piling up. He sighed and rolled his eye. “We’re not going to play.” With his response, he pulled his hand away and went back to his house. He shut the door at her and he felt the female bump his door. “How dedicated are you?!”

“I never see you anymore-”

“We met last week!”

“Come out the door-”

“No!”

“It’s like you’ve gone away! We use to be best buddies, and now we’re not. I wish you would tell me why!”

Noboru was tired of this, and he knew that if he denied her more, she’d magically end up inside his place… he wouldn’t know how she did- but he knew that she would. He opened the door slightly, slightly twitching.

“Do you want to build a snowman?” Takara almost went out of tune because of laughing. He finally gave in. “It doesn’t have to be a snowman.”

“Let me finish my coffee first.” He told her this, his face looking tired. “Come in. You’re going to freeze outside.”

The girl only entered the room before dusting off the snow particles off her clothes. “Thank you, Noboru!”

“I can’t believe I’m doing this…”

Seeing people from a different universe was truly something new to everyone! It was nice knowing that people could actually gain friends with other people that they’ve never seen before! But in exchange… there are possibilities of enemies too. This was to be expected since the two bicker a lot with someone similar in their own universe.

Takashi was eating walnuts and drinking a milkshake for a snack. It was break and the cafeteria was pretty empty at the moment! It was one of those times which Takashi surprisingly preferred it to be quiet. He was currently waiting for any news from the Elite Ten for a meeting so he could prepare. 

Without any warning, he bumped into and a very hot liquid poured over him. He yelped and jumped off his seat, trying to shake off the coffee that just spilled on him. “What in underworld’s name is this-!” He shouted at the person who spilled the coffee at him. He would have eased down immediately if it were someone younger than him or a friend- but his anger only strengthened as he saw the person.

He spotted Shigeo, who has his eyes widen but he quickly regained his composure. He didn’t want to apologize to the male he hated most. Definitely not. He shouldn’t back down or else he’d be considered as the “loser” in this situation.

“I didn’t see you there, Kuga. You were much too small.” A snicker came from the Eizan who Suzume hated most. “Maybe if you were a bit taller, I could have avoided this… accident.” He began chuckling at his own joke and the blonde began shaking in anger. First, coffee spilled over him and now… he had to bring up something that would piss him off ten times more?!

For one of the first times in his life, he actually decided not to censor his words with what he came up with. Meat? Medusa? Hah. He had no control as of the moment. “You fucking bitch!” Takashi swore, finally fully snapping at him. “I didn’t do shit this time! And this was one of the days I decide to wear the damn sweater my brother sewed me!” He instantly picked up his milkshake before spilling it over the male’s shirt and pants.

Shigeo stared at his own clothes, his expression darkening. “Wow. What a mature kind of revenge, Kuga.” He got his handkerchief before wiping off some drink off of him. “I never expected to curse like that, but I give you props for looking strong. Maybe small creatures do hold in anger more.”

Takashi began hissing, just getting angrier each second. “Now I know what my dad meant by Eizans are bastards!” He didn’t exactly want to judge them at first, but now he has experience… he does not want to do anything with their bullshit.

Kaoru knew what he needed to do to save the person he loved. He had no other choice. She was a planner, and he had trusted her skills completely. But he knew that the amount of people after them could actually bring them down. Maybe it was his mistake for being such a “hero” in this worlds. Saving others but never himself. 

He pushed her away before shooting the metal door to close completely. He knew that the red lights marked something- and he surely didn’t want the enemies to shoot that first. He breathed out heavily as he reloaded his gun. “Sorry flower, but we’ve broke rule 1 from the start.” He didn’t know if the person behind the other door could hear him. All he heard was her knocking on the door several times.

“Aroon-! You dumbass!” She shouted from the other side, slamming the wall with her hands even if caused some pain to herself. She knew if she continued, it might even cause bruise on her hands. “Why would you do that?!” She began turning on her ear piece, trying to contact him. “Aroon!”

Kaoru couldn’t do anything but listen to her voice. He decided to turn on his so he could speak back. He only let out a chuckle, and it was obvious that everything was connected to the whole alliance. “You should all escape. You all have a total of 5 minutes to escape. Their back-up is coming soon.”

He heard the door get slammed again and he only looked back. He began biting his lips, worried about the female. “You idiot! We’re not leaving you behind! If we leave you inside yourself, you’re doomed! Do you have any idea what they can do to you?!”

“Lotus. Please.” He punched the metal door, and this made her wince a bit. “Just leave. I already know all the consequences…” He mumbled. “But I’m not fucking afraid of dying. Not if it’s for you guys…”

“How do you think we feel about this?! We could have left with you, there would be no problem with that! We could have went with Plan-”

“Hanako. Please.” Kaoru whispered, and even people could hear him- he had to say it. “Leave. Now. If I didn’t do this, they’d chase over us. They’d know our location. Isshiki Satoshi and Kinokuni Nene would have been doomed. It’s fine.” He reassured. “I’ll be okay.”

“You won’t!” It was obvious by her voice that she already began crying. “You won’t be okay…. You won’t!” No matter how many times she hit the door or even pleased- the barrier that separated her from her leader wouldn’t happen. “Kaoru… I… I…” She finally broke down. “You’re not immortal! I know you’re strong, I believe in you… But you won’t come out alive!”

This was the first time everyone heard he break down and it made everyone’s hearts fall into pieces. Emile was currently crying and Rin was trying to calm him down and Masae clenched her fists as tight as she can- it was so tight that her nails began digging  in her skin. Tetsuji felt himself drowning, but he had to act strong to make sure he’d be there for the rest of the group.

Kuga only closed his eyes shut- he was unable to say a word. Eizan couldn’t look back… if he did, he knew he’d be trying to save someone he originally thought he wouldn’t care about. Nene was gripping Eizan, not knowing what to do- but she wanted to think od a way to save him. Isshiki didn’t show his expression to anyone, but he was obviously in pain.

Dai was currently inside a car, his vision getting blurry with the tears piling up. “Cross… Take Lotus away from there.”

Kaoru spotted several people running to him, different guns with them and he was sure he’d be shot dead on the spot. He laughed sadly, saying his last words before turning off the ear piece so they wouldn’t be able to hear the shots.

“I love you guys. Remember that, alright?”
