Town Event: Helping Hand

Hear ye, hear ye! Let each help the other and in so doing, help themselves.

We invite everyone to join in Darkest Dungeon month--a community event to bring fans a little bit closer in the wake of atrocities big and small!

It feels as though the DD community has separated in smaller, isolated shards who don't share things between one another as much. This project is an attempt to encourage sharing of ideas, creation, and to show newer people that there is a vibrant community in the DD fandom!

To promote this, we offer a list of prompts for each day of the month, and we will reblog your creations so that everyone can see the contributions as well as connect with one another. Everyone is welcome to participate, whether it be with art, writing, theorizing and more!

Today's Re: Dracula got an accidental boost in creepiness when I looked out and saw a red sun in the fog.

I'm back to this "space-time loop" with birthdays again. When I see a huge number of coincidences and strange things, chaos appears in my head, so there is a desire to put it all in order.

All this is fake, CPN and my speculation.

So, on October 5th the magic circle with birthdays and DD's journey closed. New circumstances have emerged, and this makes this magic cycle even more interesting.

The Discovery episode about the desert was filmed in Inner Mongolia, this place is called 阿拉善 (Alxa League), a few hours drive from Lanzhou, where DD arrived, and it turns out that this is the same place where GG filmed his vlog on August 5, 2021, which was released on his birthday on October 5, 2021!

Of course, this is pure coincidence, perhaps this place is very suitable for filming picturesque desert landscapes, so different film crews at different times choose the same place. But it very luckily fell into this magic loop.

This year DD posted the photo of the desert with the caption "27" on August 5th, the desert episode came out on October 5th, and DD posted the photo of the desert on October 5th within 1 minute of XZS's post, and he put 3 emojis 3 times each — "33".

The turtles conducted an experiment on their phones, I don't really understand what this function is and how it works, but it is with this combination of emoticons with the tag #探索新境 that the number 33 appears. But the strangest thing is that if you enter this combination without the tag, you get 27! What kind of magic is this that connected the numbers of their ages?

If we continue playing with the number 33, it is literally everywhere: DD posted a total of 33 photos on his personal account during the series' release until October 5, on October 5 DD posted 6 more photos, and 6 is, as we know, 3+3. And also the connection between their ages: 27 is 3 cubed, that is, 27=33. I feel like my brain is refusing to process this information anymore!

In GG's night photos we can see deserted night streets of Beijing, but at the same time, on these streets, next to GG, motorcycles (or battery-powered cars that look like motorcycles) appear. What’s even more interesting is that in one of the photos, GG is standing next to a motorcycle, on the trunk of which, quite by chance, “Adventure” is written and a snowy mountain is depicted. This motorcycle is on the edge of the photo, it could easily be cropped. Why is it there?

At 11:59 PM, the last minute of October 5th, GG posted the video with he singing "Thank you for wishing me goodnight," this is the exact wish that DD had been saying in every part of his journey before going to sleep. And there is one more nuance: in the video, GG says the words “thank you” exactly at the 18th second, and the words “good night” at the 23rd. On this mysterious note, October 5th ended.

And this is just part of what happened on October 5th. Everyone has probably already heard about the same clothes, the portrait on the wall, DD's sudden love for bicycles…

And one more touching moment: by chance or not, but the last photo of the six DD's photos and of all the photos that DD posted during the Discovery show is a sunrise in the desert. It is so symbolic and so good, it looks like a good wish, like a good omen - the darkness will dissipate, and the dawn will surely come. May everything be well with them. 💚❤️.

Ok so I've been meaning to read all of @bluecatwriter 's wonderful Dracula hc fics in order for a long time but I never have time to get with it so I decided to read it along with Dracula Daily this year.

"Two Sides of the Same Coin"- Two things that are regarded as part of the same thing. Even if they're very different, they have at least one common thread that helps them fit into this trope.

"For context, Hisoka and Chikage are family. They were taken in by someone named August, and raised together. August brought them into the spy organisation where he worked, but when he got older, he regretted his decision as it obviously hurt them. August made a plan to get both Hisoka and Chikage out of the organisation, which neither of them knew about, but August was caught.

August was killed on a mission in front of Hisoka, while Chikage was far away. Due to events that took place while August was dying, Hisoka fell off a cliff and swam to shore, and in the incident, lost his memory. With amnesia, Hisoka wandered into Mankai Company, where A3! is set. In Mankai, he was saved and looked after. August’s plan worked sort of, as Hisoka was safe, but Chikage was left behind.

While Hisoka forgot, Chikage remembered everything, and because of the nature of the Organisation, he wasn’t allowed to grieve August’s death. He was also told it was Hisoka who killed August, and was made to get revenge on him. When he finds him at Mankai, safe and free, Chikage is enraged as he is stuck here suffering while Hisoka gets to live a life of comfort. Chikage is forced to suffer the death of the person most important to him, while Hisoka didn’t even remember what he did in Chikage’s eyes.

While Hisoka forgot, Chikage remembered everything, and because of the nature of the Organisation, he wasn’t allowed to grieve August’s death. The game very deliberately contrasts Hisoka being free and forgetting, to Chikage being stuck and remembering. They are very literally two sides of the same coin (Chikage even loved coin tricks :DD) as they were raised as family, but turned out very differently from the same trauma. Even when Hisoka remembers, and manages to prove his innocence, Chikage vows to keep Hisoka a secret from the Organisation so he can live a free life like August wanted. (But August wanted them both to be free. :(( ) Hisoka gets his “character development” before Chikage, as his life in the Organisation is in the past. He can move on from his life as “December” (secret agent name) in a way Chikage can’t, because he is still presently “April.”

The Scarlet Mirror event uses a pair of biological siblings to parallel Hisoka and Chikage’s relationship. The event emphasises how Hisoka and Chikage mirror each other, as they play Holmes and Moriarty in the event’s play. One of Moriarty Chikage’s lines in this play starts “You’re my mirror Holmes.”

In the event, Hisoka reflects on what he cannot remember still about the Organisation, while Chikage is shown doing work for the Organisation. When they encounter the agent July (who turns out to be August’s true murderer) Hisoka tries to help, but Chikage won’t let him because again, Chikage is still an agent, and Hisoka is not. Hisoka has to fight to join his brother, because Chikage no longer sees him as an agent despite their shared past.

While two of Hisoka's focus events: Risky Game and Sunny Blanc focus on Hisoka's amnesia and grief, Chikage's focus event: Moon Traveller focuses on Chikage's life and vivid memories, answering questions about his life with August, as he still struggles to grieve healthily. Chikage's memories are vivid and intense, while Hisoka's are messy and very much separated by the past of being in the Organisation, and the present of being away from it.

Also, their personalities are opposites too! Hisoka is very sleepy, you can find him sleeping all over Mankai, while Chikage hardly sleeps. Hisoka is a sweet tooth, while Chikage dislikes sweets and loves spicy food. Hisoka loves cats, while Chikage hates animals.

They are very sad but also very silly. They bicker a lot, but ultimately they really love each other and want to protect each other. They were raised as family, but are shaped differently by their shared trauma."

Yes, GG especially is a big coffee lover, and they've both been seen with and talked about coffee quite a bit over the years.

I won't make this a comprehensive account of all the times they've been seen with or talked about coffee, I just don't have time for that, but here are a few examples that come to mind:

Turtles have always loved the moment in the BTS where GG was seen listing off all the things he felt like eating and drinking. Starbucks was one of them (as was Japanese food, which was where they ended up going for the Dragon Boat Festival Dinner Date, that same day). GG and DD were seen on set multiple times with Starbucks coffee (and often tea as well).

When he was with XNINE GG spent a day (30 October 2016) as a barista for a cat cafe, which is adorable and a must-see.

GG has been photographed many times at the airport with a coffee in his hand (back when airport photos were still allowed).

During the fanmeet for the brand that shall remain nameless, DD talked about how he enjoys drinking coffee when he goes camping.

Hi for those who missed it, I have recently got some of my graphics printed and I have been considering opening preorders for a proper run, so this is a small informal interest check if that would be something worth doing.

All graphics that would be available would be available in size 5 x 7 inches (~12.7 x 17.78 cm, slightly smaller than an A5) on a relatively thick paper at €5 for 1, €10 for 3, €15 for 5, as well as selection of some graphics at 8.3 x 11.62 inches (~21 x 29.5 cm, about the size of an A4) €7 for 1, €15 for 3, €25 for 5 on more of a poster paper.

Shipping would be about €3, shipped in B4 envelopes reinforced with either cardboard or chipboard

(* all of these prices are only rough estimates, however aside from higher quantities on larger prints they are unlikely to change

It would be done all through preorder style and handled and processed by me, since this is a quick and informal interest check, if there is an okay turnout I would probably open preorders on Monday July 22nd and close them on Wednesday July 31st to get it out in the first half of August

This entry refers to the first ever event banner this game had: Ollie.

During the duration of the event, if you pulled in the gacha and got a legendary Esper, there was a 10% chance that it would be Ollie. After making 350 pulls, this chance would get increased by another 10% every 50 pulls (400 would be 20%, 450 would be 30%, 500 would be 40% and so on)

This means that you would only be guaranteed an Ollie at your 850th pull. This has, understandably, made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

Luckily, the system has been changed since then into something a bit more sensible.

Official NSFW commissions

Essentially, late 2023/early 2024, Lilith has been preparing to officially launch Dislyte in China. This was a pretty big deal, and so a lot of promoting and effort went into it.

This preparation period included a bunch of artists being commissioned to make art for the game to help promote it. A lot of being rather... risque

Fruity Five was a nickname given to Ch. 5 of the in-game chat. It was known for being the go-to hangout for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.

However, as the number of players dwindled, so did many of the channels. Ch. 1 is the only consistently active, with Ch. 2 getting bursts of life here and there or during resets.

Essentially, August 2023, an announcement was made on the game's official Discord server, discussing the possibility of including alternate versions of espers as playable characters - the first one being Lian:

From what I remember, the general reception to the idea was mostly negative - most players viewed it as a cheap, lazy way to charge players for new characters without putting in the effort of actually developing them.

Due to this reaction, the idea has been dropped and not brought up since.

On the game's subreddit, user SoLongAndGoodnight_ has become lovingly known as "that one user desperately trying to get Li Ling". They documented their pulls on the subreddit, the journey becoming a sort of inside joke within the community.

People suggested just using wish stones to get him, but a consensus of 'it's the principle of the thing' quickly took root.

After nearly two years of getting unlucky, on the 25th of March, 2024, SoLongAndGoodnight_ had finally pulled a Li Ling from the gacha - marking the end of an era and one long-ass journey. The post announcing it is now one of the most upvoted posts in the subreddit.
