Ok so the poll is finally closed and I have the final results now! Let me tell you that while I am not surprised, I almost had a heart attack when I saw them.

People who voted - were you just fucking with me or were you serious ? Or maybe you just didn't know the title ? Because, like, come on, you call yourselves "Dragon Ball fans" and you've never watched the original version of the anime ??? You only know the english dub ??? You don't know the og voices, characters and themes ??? You don't know THE most epic and iconic theme of Dragon Ball history??? Come ON. I seriously don't understand. I hope you were just trolling lol.

ANYWAY. If you really don't know, "Tamashi tai Tamashi" is a ref to Gohan's ssj2 transformation scene theme. The complete name of the song is "Unmei no hi - Tamashi tai tamashi (運命の日〜魂ＶＳ魂)". It means "Day of destiny - soul VS soul". And it is one of the greatest music in anime history. It is so ICONIC and INCREDIBLE. A damn masterpiece! I know they changed it in the english dub but the dub version is shitty next to the og theme. Unmei no hi - Tamashi tai Tamashi is just way too AMAZING. Here it is :

If you really are a Dragon Ball fan you have to listen to this! It's so GREAT!

Also, for those who didn't know this song, I guess you've never watched Gohan ssj2 scene in japanese, so here it is ! Clearly one of the best and most iconic scenes of DBZ, and of anime history - and soooo much better in Japanese than in english ! (Why did they added Gohan's thoughts right before he screams... his silence and the song sarting to play was so much more powerful!)

Anyway ×2. English speaking Dragon Ball fans, I know y'all are used to everything being in english, but please watch the Japanese version. You have no idea how many things you're missing ! (Like Masako Nozawa. She's Gokū's, Gohan's, Goten's and Bardock's voice. And she's... so fucking talented. Their voice in Japanese is amazing and iconic)

So! As I mentioned in my prior post, a Dragon Ball themed amusement park has been announced, and I am using this as an excuse to make a series of relevant posts.

A few years ago Universal Studios in Japan offered a special attraction for Dragon Ball fans, “Dragon Ball Z The Real 4-D.” It was one of those short movies where the theatre interacts with the film by hitting the audience with water/air blasts/ whatever to ‘enhance’ the experience. You can find the 3D animated video from the attraction on youtube and I recommend you do, it’s worth a watch. But more importantly, they released a bunch of merch you could only get in the park!

….or on ebay, if you’re me and couldn’t manage a trip to Japan.

Ramble ( TW // Ideation headcanon )

Had the devastating realization/headcanon that maybe Z Broly saw fighting Goku as his only way out of the hellish suffering he was being put through by his own father all his life. There was no rivalry. Death was his only escape. Broly likely knew that he’d end up killing himself by letting loose all his power at once, or that Goku could at least be the catalyst for it.

Maybe Broly wasn’t even fully trying to destroy the Z Fighters, but just making it a good show for his father to give him the impression of doing his bidding—until Paragus ran. Abandoned him, after everything.

And then Broly didn’t care anymore. His efforts, wasted; every day he has ever been alive. His freedom after crushing Paragus wasn’t worth sticking around for anymore, given that the Z Fighters and everyone else would already consider him a threat in need of being put down for good, anyways. A freak. The devil himself. Nobody would ever even try to save him, like he once did for another, even as a baby.

Broly was screaming for mercy when he called for Kakarot, challenged him to fight, threatened to take away everything Goku loved. Of course the Z Fighters were in mortal danger, BUT, they were still in good enough condition that a senzu bean could heal them. That just… Sticks out to me. Broly easily could have one-shot TPK’d every single one of them once he went LSSJ.

He just wanted to escape.

(Of course I’m reading way too far into it all lol BUT this character speaks to me personally somehow. Broly’s tragedy of a story tears at my heartstrings like no other character before him the more I delve into what his character can be and mean. His story is a powerful warning and a heartfelt comfort, a devastating mirror.)

Emotional damage aside

How do you think buggy arc, assuming we will get one, can play out without him interacting with shanks? And do you think buggy just getting over his past friendship would be having equally satisfying impact on the story as them becoming close again?

well, my shuggy bias is 100,000% at play here, but i think a version of buggy’s arc that doesn’t involve shanks in the end just can’t be as satisfying as one that does involve him, whether it’s a proper reconciliation or just confrontation/closure. the way buggy thinks and feels about shanks has been such a huge part of the way buggy talks about his life and thinks about his goals, it would feel imbalanced to me if he wasn’t there at the end, somehow.

but what could a buggy arc without shanks in it look like? that’s an interesting question. two options (one a hurt no comfort version of my lt fic still pretty shanks-oriented, one an honest attempt at a shanksless buggy arc) below the cut.

if we’re just saying no interactions, shanks can still be part of buggy’s story in absentia, as he has been for much of canon. something to strive for, the measuring stick of buggy’s life, always frustratingly out of reach… until now. now buggy can practically taste the look of shock and awe on shanks’ face when buggy beats him to the one piece! it’s gonna be so good, getting everything he wants and rubbing it in his stupid face. but then shanks dies. shanks is dead. he never got the one piece, and he never got to see buggy get the one piece, and buggy’s never going to see him again, and— the one piece is within buggy’s reach, and so is the person who killed shanks. what does buggy want more: riches or revenge? what does he value more: treasure or an old friend?

buggy wants the one piece for two reasons, right? one: because it’s the biggest most valued most legendary treasure on the planet, and buggy loves treasure. and two: because it’s captain roger’s treasure, and buggy wants to inherit that legacy, if shanks won’t do it. so i think we could manage a satisfying no-shanks arc for buggy if it involves him proving himself worthy of roger’s legacy. not by getting the one piece—i may be engaging in buggy-centric speculation but i think we all know that thing’s meant for luffy—but by gaining the respect of cross guild, and of the other emperors, and of the wider pirate world. the marines are wary of their misapprehension of buggy’s charisma; let’s see his real inspirational ability used for a good purpose. let’s have half the world call him a hero and half call him a monster, and either way mean that they consider him roger’s successor! let’s have rayleigh show up and tell buggy he’s proud of him!!!

Countdown to Christmas- Day 13- Bulma @spinomaster17 and @thunder-jolt

Day 13 has everyone’s fave blue haired Dragon Ball hunting scientist, Bulma! She’s taking to the ice in a brand new costume she just bought.

I decided to make it glittery and purple because why not?

So… in light of the announcement that a Dragon Ball theme park is being built, I will be doing a series of posts related to the topic on this and @uglydbzmerch- mainly discussing things like the Universal Studios Japan Dragon Ball collab (which I own some merch from, and will be sharing), for example.

Ya see, your mod, Maji, is a major park enthusiast (with a particular love of rollercoasters). I am extremely lucky in that I live in SoCal and get to go to Disneyland/California Adventure, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Universal Studios Hollywood somewhat frequently.

My enthusiasm would be through the roof for the upcoming park- two of my favorite hobbies coming together!- except for the choice to build it in Saudi Arabia. But I still figure this would be a good place to start a series of posts.
