Happy Day 1 of Cast Appreciation Week to George Rexstrew!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know George is not on Tumblr, but I'm singing his praises everywhere today!
Thank you for everything you've given our fandom, George. Our perfect Edwin Payne, we love you so much! 💜💀🔎
Transcript of my letter below the cut!
Happy Cast Appreciation Week October 20, 2024
Dearest George,
First of all, let me start by saying that I cannot believe Edwin was your first on-screen performance: you are one of the most polished, dedicated, naturally gifted actors I've ever had the privilege of seeing on my TV screen. I was captivated by your performance from the moment you stepped on screen, and I think you could put some "Big-name" actors in the industry to shame. The love you have for Edwin, and the work you put into portraying him, is evident. Also, you have one of the most soothing voices in the whole world, btw - I don’t know if anyone has ever told you that, but your voice is absolutely lovely.
I've rewatched Dead Boy Detectives more times than I can count now, and your portrayal of Edwin's journey of self-discovery, and his journey with accepting not only his sexuality but also being in love with his best friend, is reverent and breathtaking...it moves me every single time. Edwin's story is one I related to on a personal level and I imagine I'm far from the only queer person who can say that (falling in love with your best friend kind of feels like a right of passage). The way you handled such a sensitive, poignant part of Edwin's story cannot be overlooked or understated, and so many queer kids have seen your performance as Edwin and feel braver now as a result. I hope you are immensely proud of all you've given the LGBTQ+ community so far.
Lines like "If you punish yourself, everywhere becomes Hell," "Bad guys do not worry about being bad guys... I dare say we all worry about who we are, deep down," and "It's not what you did, it's what you do" live within me forever, and it's your voice I hear when the reminders are needed. I will never be able to put into words, as a Charles-adjacent-spirit, how much your portrayal of Edwin felt healing to me. The voice in my head is not always kind, but now there's another voice there from time to time which is far kinder so thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart.
I hope you know how loved and appreciated you are by this fandom not just today, but every day. I hope our words and our continued fight will remind you that you've had such a significant impact on so many people and that you are adored and appreciated. Your sheer presence has brought immense joy to us; "Gameo" week alone was one of the highlight experiences of being a Dead Boy Detectives fan, and that's due to your kind, generous heart and the amount of work you put into those Cameos. Your authenticity, passion, heart, wit, dedication, and incredible sense of humor are all things I admire about you, and I feel thankful to be one of your many fans.
I wish I had Edwin, and Dead Boy Detectives as a whole when I was a queer kid figuring my shit out, but I'm tremendously glad the world has both of them now. Thank you for everything you've given us, and thank you for being you.
You are our Edwin, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica "V" @ atfsims1

Happy Day 6 of Cast Appreciation Week to Lukas Gage, Joshua Colley, and Gabriel Drake!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am once again fashionably late lol, but we're still pushing forward! None of these guys are on Tumblr (to our knowledge haha), but I’m singing their praises everywhere today!
Our perfect Cat King, Monty, and Simon… we love you boys so much! 💜💀🔎
Transcript of my letters below the cut!
LETTER 1:
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 25, 2024
Dearest Lukas,
You poofed on screen in your little throne and I yelled at my TV, “YESSS BITCH!” very loudly. That sentiment toward The Cat King pretty much persisted every time you appeared, just so you know!
You are an enthralling, incredible actor. Your gestures, your delivery, your expressions, the way you played off of George’s Edwin so, so well... it was simply genius. I would believe you were half-cat if you told us that in earnest because The Cat King’s mannerisms were spot on. You masterfully walked the fine line of a character that’s as incredibly charming and alluring as he is wicked and dangerous, which is no easy feat. Some of the most divine characters in fantasy are the “Chaotic Neutrals,” the tricksters, the ones who do what they want, when they want, and will go to any lengths as a means to achieve their ends because the audience never knows which version of them they’ll get next. I felt like every time we saw you on screen, we learned something new about your character, no matter how brief the time was.
I never wanted Edwin with The Cat King, yet I found their chemistry to be electric. I could not imagine anyone else playing the role, and I don’t know if I’ll ever view a “Shifter” entity with the same kind of delight I view The Cat King, and I know that’s largely due to your unbelievable performance.
You are our Cat King, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1

LETTER 2:
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 25, 2024
Dearest Joshua,
When an actor can take a character I would normally not love and somehow charm the heck out of me, that’s when I’m really impressed... and you did that with Monty!
You radiate such a fun, warm, inviting energy; that part of you found its way into Monty and, somehow, into my heart. I joke that I’m a Charles-adjacent spirit, so much like Charles I was averse to Monty at first, but I was shocked to find myself starting to see him as a little possible extension of the group and hoping he would stick around and shake Esther’s influence! I blame you, really, (a compliment, lol) because you’re so darn talented and you made Monty glow on screen. He was complex and naiv, innocent and whimsical, and you captured his essence and “Born Yesterday” sparkling outlook on the world with expertise.
I didn’t even want him and Edwin together and I pouted, full-on pouted, and said, “Awww, poor Monty... we’ve all been there babe” when Edwin told him he didn’t reciprocate his feelings! I can’t say enough about how impressed I was with you, truly. Monty is a quintessential part of the narrative in my opinion, and I could not imagine anyone else playing him.
You are our Monty, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1

LETTER 3:
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 25, 2024
Dearest Gabriel,
First off, you played your role so well that Simon, despite his flaws, became one of the characters that fascinated me the most. Seriously!
I wanted to see more of him, to see more of his and Edwin’s past dynamic, and to understand how he got to the point he did in life. When I’m watching the show back, I can’t help but wonder if Edwin might have told Charles about Simon, or about their brief passing in Hell, and what Charles would have thought about their conversation. While Simon’s actions angered me and were objectively abhorrent, I still felt immense sympathy for him, and during his scene with Edwin in Hell, I wept for them both. I was moved by your portrayal of his complexities, and although our time with you was brief, it made a lasting impact.
The scene you and George had together in Hell is perhaps one of the most provocative conversations between two canon queer characters on screen. When I think of the impact Dead Boy Detectives has had on the LGBTQ+ community, your scene is one of the first ones I think about, and Simon’s self-hatred is a tragedy all too common amongst our own. Seeing it play out was heartbreaking, but necessary. You did a phenomenal job.
You are our Simon, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1

Happy Day 4 of Cast Appreciation Week to Yuyu Kitamura!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yuyu is not on Tumblr (to our knowledge haha), but I’m singing her praises everywhere today! Thank you for everything you’ve given our fandom, Yuyu!
Our perfect Niko Sasaki, we love you so much! 💜💀🔎
Transcript of my letter below the cut!
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 23, 2024
From the moment we met Niko, I knew she would be one of my favorite characters; what I didn’t know was that you would become one of my favorite actresses as well! Your performance on screen was such a blast to witness, and I felt like the role of Niko fit you like a glove.
I’m sure you’ll be told this a lot today, but you radiate positive energy and your zeal is infectious. Niko's whimsy and delicate gentleness softened the edges of some of the more intense moments of the Dead Boy Detectives and filled a gap in the Agency that was desperately needed.
One thing she doesn't get enough credit for is how astute and intelligent she is. I loved watching your acting choices in scenes where Niko wasn't talking, but rather observing. The subtle expressions you would make; a quirk of an eyebrow, eyes shifting thoughtfully between whoever was talking (or arguing, in some cases), and the micro-reactions that believably didn’t draw the attention of the characters around her but were the perfect amount of notable for the audience and so on were simply brilliant. It felt like you breathed life into her, and that when you stepped into costume you transformed into a different person. She felt very authentic and believable, which made it easy to fall in love with her, and I couldn't imagine anyone playing her as perfectly as you did.
To me, the girls complete the agency: they shake things up and push our boys to not be so "Frozen in time," so to speak. They challenge the boys, but they also love them unconditionally in a way that neither is accustomed to, at least not so openly. If Crystal brings things like courage and self-reflection to the table, Niko brings heart and compassion. The show might be Dead BOY Detectives, but the alive girls that you and Kassius play are just as important.
As for us fans, sweet Niko brought so much joy into our lives and you played her immaculately. Her soft encouragements, her journey with grief, her immense kindness, her unshakable selflessness even in fear are inspiring to us... so thank you for the time and the love you put into her. Your work certainly reads, and we all are endlessly grateful. You’re a star!
You are our Niko, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1

Happy Day 3 of Cast Appreciation Week to Kassius Nelson!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kassius is not on Tumblr (to our knowledge haha), but I’m singing her praises everywhere today! Thank you for everything you’ve given our fandom, Kassius!
Our perfect Crystal Palace Surname-Von Hoverkraft, we love you so much! 💜💀🔎
Transcript of my letter below the cut!
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 22, 2024
Dearest Kassius,
I want to start this letter by saying how blown away I was by your talent from the very start. To be able to balance comedic timing in scenes where Crystal is having a tift with Edwin with the more serious-toned, empowering moments where she's facing down her abuser or demanding justice for girls everywhere who were victims of Esther's cruelty is no small feat, and you did it masterfully.
Also, let me just throw out there that you get the award for "Best American accent by a British actor or actress." When I heard your true voice in an interview for the first time, I nearly fell out of my seat. I was already so impressed by your performance, but there was never even a single moment where I thought you had an English accent in real life (lol) so major props to you.
Now, on a more serious note: one thing that drives me nuts about a lot of fantasy shows is that women can be treated one-dimensionally, but that was never an issue with Crystal, and I believe a big reason why is because of the way you portrayed her, and the acting choices you made. There are not enough strong, complicated, nuanced, and yet incredibly lovable characters like Crystal Palace in media today, especially not for girls to look up to, and that's why I LOVED every second of her on my screen. You played Crystal's duality with such expertise and precision that it took my breath away, multiple times!
More than that, I found Crystal's storyline to be deeply moving and important for women everywhere, and that importance can't be stated enough. Too many women can relate to being abused and controlled in the name of "Love," and I found Crystal's experiences with David, her powers (and ancestors), and her realizations surrounding her parents to be emotional, compelling, and empowering. She is an incredible character who adds so much depth to the story. There is no Dead Boy Detectives without Crystal Palace; they are better for having her around, and I can't imagine anyone else playing her with the grace, care, and love that you gave to her.
I hope you know that you are beautiful and radiant, inside and out, and that our fandom is so thankful you have shared your brilliance with us. I also have to mention that your support of the fandom through engaging in the art, the edits, and so on shows how much you care not just about Crystal, but about us as well... and that's genuinely special. Not many fandoms can say they get that kind of love from cast members, but our fandom is especially lucky! I hope we can return some of that love right back to you today, ten-fold.
You are our Crystal, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1

Happy Day 2 of Cast Appreciation Week to Jayden Revri!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like George, Jayden is not on Tumblr (to our knowledge haha), but I’m singing his praises everywhere today!
Thank you for everything you’ve given our fandom, Jayden! This letter struck a particularly emotional chord for me, but I hope it still made sense despite that haha!
Our perfect Charles Rowland, we love you so much! 💜💀🔎
Transcript of my letter below the cut!
Happy Cast Appreciation Week!
October 21, 2024
Dearest Jayden,
I have no idea how I will keep this brief, but I promise to do my best! I want to start by saying that you are a beacon of light in our community; from the way you root us on and engage with us online to the lovely environment that you've curated with your streams (where I've met some wonderful people), you have made our fandom so much better. We are incredibly lucky to have you. You’re a one-of-a-kind talent and your joy reads in everything you do. Honestly, it's simply FUN watching you act; I’m not sure how else to describe it, it’s nearly impossible to watch you on screen and not be completely taken by your thoughtful, intentional expressions. All this to say, I hope you’re aware of how multi-talented you are. (You even have a beautiful singing voice!)
Now, on a more personal note.
I relate to Charles in more ways than not, and I've rarely seen a character like him - one who deals with anger, shame, and trauma - portrayed with the kind of love, care, and reverence that you gave him. So often characters like Charles, and real-life people like him, are boiled down to their worst parts, and it's ironic because that's how they see themselves, too. (Again, I know this all too well. Shame is a liar, but when it's beaten into you as a child, you cling to it like an old friend.) I cried with Charles, I felt for him, and your performance is what initially locked me into Dead Boy Detectives.
I will never be able to find the words to describe how thankful I am that YOU played our Charles Rowland. I need you to know the pivotal impact this character has had on people like me: people who rarely get to see our stories told, but more than that, rarely get to be the "Heroes" in those stories. It’s the strangest thing, really: I found myself immediately sticking up for Charles and wanting the best for him before I even knew why. In having grace for Charles, I started viewing my own shame, my own trauma, with a little more grace, too.
Because to hear, over and over again, that people like Charles are not bad... they’re loved, actually, and not just loved but also enough, is life-changing for someone who carries shame with them everywhere they go. To see a character that I relate to be told that they deserve love, even when they can't "Keep smiling for everyone," is invaluable. This character will stick with me for life. You have given us such a gift through your portrayal of Charles, and I'm deeply grateful to you. I genuinely don’t think anyone else could have done what you did with this role, and you deserve to know that the work you did was never in vain. Charles’ story matters, and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for telling it.
I am rooting for you big time, Jayden Revri! I think the world needs more of your sunshine, more of your talent, more of your immeasurable kindness and humbleness. I can’t wait for the next “Streamden” (lol). Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for loving this fandom in the way we love you!
You are our Charles, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love,

Happy Day 5 of Cast Appreciation Week to Ruth Connell, Jenn Lyon, and Briana Cuoco!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are late, but it has been a DAY so I'm just happy I got them out before bedtime honestly! None of these incredible women on Tumblr (to our knowledge haha), but I’m singing their praises everywhere today!
Our perfect Night Nurse, Esther Finch, and Jenny Green... we love you ladies so much! 💜💀🔎
Transcript of my letters below the cut!
LETTER 1:
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 24, 2024
Dearest Ruth,
I have adored you since you played Rowena in Supernatural, so it’s no surprise that I loved your performance as the Night Nurse. You are a legend to me, you give an absolute masterclass in acting every time you step on screen.
I’ve rewatched Dead Boy Detectives more times than I can count, and every time I am stunned by how you balance the delicate line her character walks with such finesse and expertise. She’s not a full antagonist, certainly not a protagonist either, but some much more complex middle-ground. (I’ve gone down the rabbit hole analyzing her character in abundance because of that.) The fact that you had my emotions all over the place for this character should tell you that you did an absolutely bang-up job. Everything I learned about her made me want more, and brought new questions to my mind! You managed to make her a bit of a nightmare presence at times while making her feel very human (and clearly a bit perplexed by that sensation, lol) at other times. She was gripping and witty and everything I could have wanted from a character of her nature, and that is because of your incredible talent.
You are our Night Nurse on Duty, the Afterlife’s Finest, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1
------------------------------------------------------
LETTER 2:
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 24, 2024
Dearest Jenn,
I need you know know that I have never loved a villain more than I loved Esther Finch. My god, every time she came on screen I wanted to cheer. Everything about her awful, wicked ways shocked me and, at times, made me laugh to the point of tears. Every time I tell someone about Dead Boy Detectives, your character is one of my first selling points; I’ll usually tell them, “There’s this villain, Esther, and yes she is awful and she does a lot of bad things, but you LOVE to watch her do it.”
What makes my love for Esther even more perplexing is that I always rooted for the core-4 protagonists, but I was never sad when Esther came up with a new scheme because I wanted more of her, more of you, on my screen! You are a phenomenal actress and I’m so glad Dead Boy Detectives introduced me to you because I am in awe of you, sincerely! Esther Finch is my new favorite villain, and I don’t think she will ever be topped.
You are our incorrigible, immortal, illustrious Esther Finch, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1
------------------------------------------------------
LETTER 3:
Happy Cast Appreciation Week! October 24, 2024
Dearest Briana,
What a surprise Jenny Green was; upon first introduction of her character I was like, “Oh hell yes, these disaster children need this woman to reign them in from time to time...” and I was definitely right on that call (lol). Everything about Jenny was intoxicating to me, and I believe it was your expressions and the way you carried her that made her that way!
Every now and again we would learn something about her in this perfectly nonchalant but titillating way. Every line you delivered, from her unsuccessful ventures in love to her family life and upbringing (the line about her father’s alcoholism and raging narcissism haunts me, I NEED her and Charles to have a chat about abusive parents, good lord), made me want more! Her vulnerable moments with Crystal and Niko were beautiful, and I found Jenny to be a wonderfully complex character with a scary exterior and a heart-of-gold interior. You can’t watch Dead Boy Detectives and not fall in love with Jenny, or not root for her future happiness. She is easily one of my favorite characters from Dead Boy Detectives, and your incredible performance is a big reason why!
You are our lovely goth butcher, our perfect Jenny, always and forever, and we will all be here to support you (and fight for you) in all your current and future endeavors.
All my love, Veronica “V” @ atfsims1
