So we all know by now that Dazai is comfortable enough around Chuuya to show nervousness/worry.

Enough times for Chuuya to pick up on that pattern. The pattern, may I remind you, that doesn't have evident correlation to either nervousness or worry to most people. One that can even be interpreted as misplaced given the situation.

Which means that Dazai has done this in front of Chuuya so often, that Chuuya at first was hella confused, before he finally made a connection between when and why it happens. And still remembered that connection after four years of separation. Which gets us to my point:

What if this isn't the only emotion Dazai displays weirdly?

What if he has multiple unconventional patterns he displays for sadness, frustration, content, or disgust? The times he really feels them, and they become too strong for him to just deal with normally? What if these are the only times he's actually being genuine with his emotions?

And Chuuya is the only one who is familiar with them all?

Dazai would be jumping rope and Chuuya would be like, "quit sulking, let's get icecream"

Dazai hanging upside down on the couch and Chuuya going, "It's okay, mackerel. You can cry."

Dazai actually crying, full on heart-wrenching sobs, and Chuuya unironically going, "What, good news?"

It's just... comforting, for one person in Dazai's life to read him like a book. Everyone else would look at him like he's crazy, displaying wrong emotions/behaviors at the wrong time, but Chuuya knows that it's just how he processes feeling properly, and thus he's the only one Dazai can count on to put things into context and understand, which makes him display them even more openly.

Because Chuuya never shamed him for his quirks, as much as Dazai never did his.

I saw this one post and it was like, dazai and chuuya only understand each other on the battle field (that wasn’t the main topic of the post, just something that Was there. The topic was if dazai considers anyone else a friend like he did oda)

I 100% disagree with that take. Their relationship is so much more than how they fight together, that's the point of Soukoku, that they make each other better.

Chuuya was the only character in Fifteen to acknowledge Dazai as a child first and a threat second. Dazai was potentially the first person to give Chuuya a direct choice in 8 years. Their conflict comes from the fact that they do understand each other, they just disagree with the other's methods.

Of course, their relationship was partly forged on the battlefield, as was Zenki Soukoku's and as is Shin Soukoku's, because this is a world at war, but that doesn't mean that's where their relationship starts and ends, there's so much in BSD that contradicts that.

Atsushi is asleep long before Akutagawa. It is not unusual, given their respective jobs, but Akutagawa wishes, just once, that he could be the one lulled to sleep instead of the one still at war with himself. At the thought, Akutagawa's fingers curl into the fabric of Atsushi's shirt, desperate, guilty, lonely. It feels so wrong, the loneliness despite the breath of his partner beneath his head. Taking a deep breath, Akutagawa closes his eyes again. He shuffles closer, pressing his entire body against Atsushi's side. Atsushi mumbles something under his breath, head-turning so his cheek is on top of Akutagawa's, and then he snores again. A huff escapes Akutagawa's lips. The warmth seeps in, dispelling the cold hold of loneliness, one breath at a time. He focuses on Atushi's heartbeat, how it pulses right against his ear. Akutagawa has to actively stop himself from ripping it straight from Atsushi's chest and devouring it whole so that it can be just as much a part of him as Akutagawa feels it should be. Feels that it is. He has to resist the urge to open Atsushi's ribcage and climb in there himself, to make them one and the same. Is this what love is, he wonders, gore with sentiment?

It was always going to end this way. A fake person living in decaying skin with a rotten apple core where a heart should be is not meant for pretty things. Jouno is very pretty. Even when he turns to particles, shimmering in the light, Dazsai found themself admiring him. Even when Jouno slipped back into old habits, a criminal, bloodied grin on his lips and a horrific idea, Dazai thought no one looked more beautiful. When Jouno held them, solidifying himself in Dazai's embrace, he was wholly, truly Dazai's, and peace never looked so good on anyone before. And that is why, Dazai thinks, it had to end. Anything Dazai could ever hope to want is lost. Anything Dazai touches rots and turns to ash beneath their fingertips. Jouno is no exception. Dust, swept away in the wind, just like everything Dazai has ever loved, but much more literal, much more cruel. Something cracks, something shatters, and then something screams. It was always going to end this way, with glass and dust and blood and Dazai in the middle of it all, still alive despite all their efforts and prayers.
