I know a lot of us were so lost in the euphoria of punching the First Warden that we never got to learn about this, but if you talk him down, when you find him again later he is willing to talk to you, and will tell you that Isseya often looks at a feather she kept. This is the conversation that follows.

Davrin: I know who you are, Isseya [not shown above, sorry]. A Grey Warden who lost her way. You Blighted the griffons. You doomed them!

Gloom Howler: The Wardens doomed them, by their own decree. I saved them. The eggs--these are the future! With Blight in their veins, the griffons will be immortal. The Wardens will never harm them again. I will be their shield against the pain.

Rook: What about this feather? It belonged to a griffon you cared for, didn't it?

Gloom Howler: Revas...

Davrin: That was your mount?

Gloom Howler: And a friend.

Rook: Did the Blight free it from pain?

Gloom Howler: It drove her mad. I had to...put her down.

Davrin: And you would do the same to these griffons?

Gloom Howler: I'm sorry.

Saying this, Isseya puts down her knife, curling forward onto the ground and dying.

So, you can talk her down. Isseya is still in there.

My Hero-of-Ferelden-worshipping Rook when Davrin gets his baby griffon Assan

I was thinking about Veilguard and the griffons and I got wondering about the names of the other griffons besides Assan, so on my second playthrough I’ve written down every name I could find, scoured the codex, and done both of Davrin’s endings to try and find names and here’s what I got.

- In total, there are 13 griffons counting Assan, so that means there are 12 unnamed/unknown griffons.

- Most of these names come from Davrin’s first quest where they’re in cages. I couldn’t get a good look at any of the griffons so I have no idea what names go to each model/color.

Here are the names I found:

1. Heidas. Heidas’s name is mentioned twice, both in Davrin’s first quest when you come across two griffons in cages before fighting the gloom howler, and again in a letter from Davrin’s Uncle Eldrin if you choose to keep the griffons in Arlathan. Eldrin uses she/her pronouns for Heidas so safe to assume she’s female. I looked through the elven dictionary for DA on the wiki and couldn’t find a translation for the word Heidas so if it’s elven it’s not a word I could find.

2. Rumptail. Rumptail is also in the first two cages with Heidas. They are the only two griffons (aside from Assan) that have their names said aloud. Rumptail is mentioned again in a letter from Evka and Antoine if you give the griffons to the Wardens, and is also described using she/her pronouns, so also female.

3. Stormwing. Stormwing is in the cages directly opposite of the area where the cutscene of the gloomhowler taking all the griffons happens. There is a plaque on the cage that if you read says Stormwing.

4. Beaktooth. Beaktooth is in the cage right next to Stormwing.

These are all the names I could find and none of Davrin’s other quests ever mention any other names. If I had known about the AMA earlier I would have asked but I didn’t so this is what we’ve got. If I missed any let me know!

I'm just saying, if one were to say, I don't know, draw parallels between the connection Davrin is supposed to have with Assan and the connection the Warden has with their mabari, could we not say that the Warden, especially a Cousland, had turlum with their faithful wardog?

Like he leans in and needs to physically brace himself on Rook's leg? And then Rook's hand on top? My man out here trying to steal my heart 💘 and he's so smooth oh my goodness.

Also Assan is all for this. Look at him run up to Rook like "Mom, did you see what I did!?" 🥹 My son my baby boy my little feathery offspring I love you so much.

DRAGON AGE VEILGUARD SPOILERS

So like, like, like WHY THE FUCK DID NONE OF YOU TELL ME THAT NOT ONLY DOES FUCKING VARRIC DIE BUT SO DOES FUCKING DAVRIN AND IM GUESSING HARDING IF YOU CHOSE HER LIKE WHAT THE FUCK 😭

What the fuck man 😭 i was sobbing throughout that entire scene from the moment davrin and assan all the way to Rook escapes the prison, finding out the true memories of what happened that day she trapped Solas cause man. Man what the fuck.

I GET IT, I GET SOMEONE HAD TO DIE. BUT WHY WHY WHY WHY WHYWHY

Also idk what the fuck some of yall smoking saying the game has Fortnite graphics, that the story is shit and the companions are ass. I genuinely believe you are just piggyingback off others opinions and your either too scared to say you enjoy something or your just so fucking stupid you just agree with the majority of the crowd. Because i fucking loved everything about this game. ESPICALLY THE STORY, like holy fuck was the fucking last battle scenes were crazy asf but so much fun to watch and play.

I loved everything about this game and this will be my new hyperfixation for as long as I live.

(I also highkey wanted Rook and Solas to kiss multiple times throughout the game and i honestly think BioWare was just to pussy to add that in bc what the fuck was the chemistry going on with those two, fanfic writers i am willing and waiting please)
