saw one of your old posts about Davina and Bonnie. I know you ship Klonnie and I was curious if you think Klavina?(klaus/davinas) dynamic is what Klonnie’s would’ve started off as

I felt like Bonnie was robbed in canon but Davina is elevated in the show even when she’s kicked aside she still gets her happy ending by the end of it all.

So, while I used to be so against her, towards the end of the show's run, I didn't mind Davina because, at the end of a very long day, she was a kid caught in supernatural business. However, it was painfully obvious to me that Davina was who they refused to let Bonnie be. She was their pitiful attempt to erase Bonnie. However, it didn't work because she was quickly cast aside, which I believe was because they never had a real purpose for her EXCEPT to erase Bonnie.

With all that said, yes, the way Davina kept her foot on Klaus's neck would have been identical to how I imagined Bonnie would be. We already saw her be that way with Damon. Damon couldn't pass gas without Bonnie showing up to make sure no one else smelled it lmao.

The possibilities in which the two of them would eventually warm up to one another are endless, and I feel like every Klonnie story in existence has found its own ways of showcasing how the two of them would eventually come together.

I am a SUCKER for forced proximity which I think works excellent for Enemies to Lovers tropes. But I also think the two of them would just naturally realize that they're two sides of the same coin and find their stake in each other's lives that way.

(This next part is me rambling and has nothing to do with what you asked, so you can skip past the italicized text if you want lol.)

People always see Bonnie as this moral beacon that is full of light but if you really dig deep, Bonnie is a very dark character. She is the antithesis of evil, which does not always equate to what we define as 'good.' Bonnie's goodness is rooted in the way she masters evil, and she knows how and when to tap in. (For example: Trying to kill Damon by fire.)

Most "good' characters we see in media today aren't actually good, they're harmless. Elena is a perfect example of this. Just because she was physically unable to hurt a fly doesn't mean she was a good person. Her selfishness placed Bonnie in ugly situations plenty of times, but it was brushed off because she was trying to be good. (Think of how Seattle responded to the BLM protests and how it negatively affected the whole movement. They 'meant' well, but we caught the fire behind that mess.)

On the flip side, Bonnie would be classified as an 'extremist' if she was in a political landscape. That said, Klaus is also an extremist but on the opposite end. (Think 'right-wing' and 'left-wing' but without the political connotations.) In my opinion, this is why they work so well together but they're bound to bump heads because of it.

(And now, back to Klonnie!)

There are so many commonalities between the two of them that make shipping Klonnie so fun.

Similar to how two siblings can grow up in the same house and face the same trauma but end up polar opposites of one another, that's how I view Klonnie's commonalities (minus the sibling bit, obviously). They both faced similar traumas, but how they processed it turned them into different people. Klaus is the Yin to Bonnie's Yang.

Shared Traumas:

Parental Negligence

Bonnie: Rudy was negligent after Abby left him and Bonnie and thus Bonnie grew up alone with only Grams who failed to teach Bonnie about her heritage. (I'm aware it was against Rudy's wishes but I'm still side-eyeing lol.)

Klaus: Esther was negligent in keeping his father's identity from him and allowing her husband to abuse him. Also, she created that necklace to weaken him for her own selfishness, thus putting the target on his back when it came to Mikael.

Abandonment

Bonnie: Her mother walked out on her for no legitimate reason. Her father was always gone and Grams was an alcoholic (so they say). Even the people in her life were emotionally absent. Then you have her friends who left her to deal with the consequences of magic alone.

Klaus: After killing their mother, he had a deep fear of his siblings abandoning him. Therefore, he became obsessed with loyalty. His biological father was nowhere to be found until a thousand years later.

For brevity's sake, I'll stop with those two but they have others.

How they processed these traumas is so interesting:

They both gained an unnatural sense of loyalty, which lies in the fear of abandonment. Klaus forced loyalty onto others, while Bonnie gave loyalty to those who never earned it or didn't deserve it.

Bonnie became codependent on her friends because she had no one else, and Klaus became co-dependent on his family for the same.

Bonnie became overburdened by responsibility. She became everyone's 'go-to' for morality and protection, which gave her a skewed sense of importance, but it also burned her out. Klaus became controlling and constantly sought validation (from Elijah in particular).

Klaus ruled through fear because of Mikael's abuse. Everyone's acceptance of Mikael's abuse sort of validated his use of fear as a way of controlling people. Bonnie used her morality as a means of control for both herself and others.

Klaus is very self-loathing, and while Bonnie doesn't initially appear to be that way, she is too. Her strong moral code is just that, her way of torturing herself. (For example: Constantly sacrificing herself for 'good' simply because she has the duty of wielding magic.)

If Klaus controlled his siblings, Bonnie's control came with how she wielded that moral compass of hers. Seeing everyone around her live freely was triggering because she had to be responsible so early in her life. She never got to make mistakes. Mistakes meant abandonment to her, so she walked a fine line and tried to force others to do the same. (This may be why she struggled with her magic so often. I often wondered if the spirits were actually punishing her or if she was self-actualizing and punishing herself subconsciously.)

This is the tip of the iceberg with these two, but can you already see the pattern? My favorite aspect is how one craves what the other has. Klaus craves loyalty, and Bonnie craves control. They both want what the other (seemingly) has.

I had this super weird dream last night and I think my brain needs to stop.

It was basically like a scene straight out of the David Tennant Cinematic Universe.

Alec Hardy, Davina and Anthony Crowley were identical triplets. In that age order as well, with Alec the eldest, then Davina and Anthony the baby.

Alec was the token cishet male of the trio, grumpy and snappy with health problems up to his eyeballs, who seemingly drives everyone away with his surly nature but who will murder anyone who looked at his siblings with even a hint of disgust on their faces. And then proceeds to verbally tear them to shreds until they cry. Very much became a detective to defend people like his siblings.

Anthony the baby of the trio was chaos incarnate. Like a chihuahua just not as small. Decided one day that their gender identity was "uhh...all of them?" and spends all their money on red hair dye and designer clothing and taking their soft angel of a partner for dinner. Also fiercely protective of both their siblings. Was ready to rage war on Sandbrook and Tess on Alec's behalf. Often threatens Alec's pacemaker like that will make sure it keeps working.

Davina was the middle child and the eye of the storm between two halves of a hurricane. When she came out and transitioned Alec & Anthony instantly swapped pronouns for her. If looks could kill, anyone who tried to flirt with Davina or spent too long seemingly trying to "work her out" was at risk of bursting into flame under the heat of Alec's and Anthony's glares. Davina's actually the one to be concerned about though, she'll give you a sweet smile as she snaps your fingers in half. Prepare for endless torture if she finds out you hurt her siblings.

Oh. That's where the familiarity comes from. It's in his face, in his magic, in his blood. She hadn't spent time around him when he was a child, not much, and really, had only seen or heard about him in passing, but she knew who he was.

"You're Kol's nephew." It was easiest to think of him that way. Not as her son, not as one of them, just Kol's nephew. Even though it was her death, something that happened to her, a little guilt seeps into her expression, and she can't imagine how she looks now. Freshly resurrected, guilty and suspicious and a little angry.

"You remember that?" He was only a kid when it happened, and she can't think too much about that because he's clearly not a child anymore. "How long have you been trying to do this?"

Matthias grimaced at the suspicion in her tone, knowing that it was justified. "Because. . . I wasn't strong enough to save you before," he answered softly, guiltily. "That day, when you. . ."

He turned to face her, but kept his head bent down as he spoke, clutching the cup of coffee with both hands in front of him. "I watched my mom drain the magic from you, condemning you to something worse than death. . . I heard you screaming. . ."

Matthias sighed heavily before finally looking at Davina again. "I was just a kid," he said, desperate for her to understand. "I couldn't stop her and Elijah, no matter how badly I wanted to. . . But I could bring you back. I knew that I could do that. I just-- I didn't realize how long it'd take me to be able to do it without killing myself in the process."

Soap was frantic, going back and forth between pacing and rambling. It was only their second day of leave and his dad asked Soap to bring his new boyfriend.

Ghost didn't want to tell him to calm down since he had Soap's coat on so instead, he just stopped him with his hands.

"Johnny, it's going to be okay."

"You're about to meet my family!"

"I've been talking to your mom for weeks." Ghost reminded him gently. "You're going to be okay."

"My sisters will be there! Both of them!" Soap said softly. "What if they don't like you? What if you don't like them?"

Ghost laughed. "Usually that's my line." He moved closer and held his hands. "You like me and I like you. That's all that matters."

Soap nodded. "My dad is..."

"I know. I know." Ghost sighed. "We'll get through it. It's just two days and after this, we can go back to our cabin."

Soap leaned into his shoulder. "I don't understand why he wants to meet you."

Simon softened and squeezed him. "It's okay, love. Promise." They were rather close to each other.

"You called me love."

"It's a good nickname for you." Simon tried not to blush, aware that he didn't have his mask.

Soap leaned forward and kissed him softly. "Mo fhíorghrá." He pushed Simon's hair back and trailed his fingers through it.

"What does that mean?"

"A devious insult. You probably don't want to know."

"You're a fucking bastard. Go finish getting packed. I'm going to ask Price to extend our leave when we're done."

"Thank God. I want to spend more time here."

Ghost grinned. "With me?"

"Nah. Wish you'd stay outside, you bawbag." Johnny teased back before pulling away to get dressed.

Ghost grabbed his things and waited for him.

The journey there was luckily quick and then they were on Soap's parents doorsteps.

Soap had managed to chew all of his fingers to the quick in anxiety.

The man that opened the door was... well, he looked almost exactly like Soap. His hair was longer though, cut in a more... traditionally male cut to Soap's mohawk. His eyes were green and he was clearly a bit older.

"Hello, sir." Ghost straightened up, glad he had his mask on. The man set him on edge and he couldn't decide if it was what Soap told him or just... the vibe around him.

Soap smiled. "Hey, dad!"

"Fergus MacTavish. So you're my sons..."

"Husband." Ghost saw his eyes go to the coat.

"I see. Come in. Your mom is in the kitchen, Johnny." Fergus made a dismissive motion and Ghost watched him shrink down just a bit before slinking off to the kitchen.

Ghost sat across from Fergus and immediately noticed someone walking right behind him.

Davina, Ghost could tell because her hair was dyed a bright purple, smiled at him. "Are you Ghost? Johnny's talked about about you before!" She was the other selkie.

"Oh? He's talked about me?" He could feel Fergus staring at him.

"Yep. Said you're a giant hardass who works him too hard." She smiled and winked. Ghost huffed.

"He's right. I'm his Lieutenant. Someone has to keep him in line."

Davina laughed. "Cup of coffee?"

"I'd kill for a tea."

Davina laughed harder. "Wow, you actually are that british. I'll see what I can rustle up. Mom keeps some usually." She left him in the room with Fergus again.

The man was still staring at him.

Simon thought about when he came home from the army for the first time. The way his mom's sleeve had lifted up just a little and he had seen his dad's handprints on her. He had dragged him outside and beat him in the street like he was a dog.

This man hadn't done anything in his sight, but already, he felt the same anger he had felt that day bubbling up. His mom had tried to pressure him into seeing his dad in his final days and he hadn't because he was sure he would take him out of the bed and finish the job. The anger was something he knew well. He dealt with it occasionally on missions.

"So Simon." Ghost grit his teeth. "How long have you had his coat?"

"A week now. Not too long. Still getting... used to it." Ghost measured his words carefully.

"I see. Treating my son well?" Fergus tilted his head, looking genuine enough. "Selkies are a bit fragile. Emotionally. I'm sure you've noticed how sad they can get."

No. Ghost hadn't. "In their eyes right? Always so sad."

"Exactly. It's best to keep them busy. So when can I be expecting him to leave the military?"

"What?"

"You're not going to let him reenlist are you? Shouldn't you keep him at home?"

Ghost stared for a minute, more than a little taken back. He was expecting cruelty like he experienced as a child. Beatings or being told you were useless. Not this. It caught him off guard.

"I want to keep him in the military. Keep him close to me."

"Makes sense. Easy access huh?" His tone was light. Normal. Like they were talking about the weather.

"I like spending time with him." Ghost answered honestly.

"If you tell him to shut up, they can't speak until you give them permission to. Comes in handy. Especially with my kids." He laughed and had sorta leaned in. Trading secrets. "You really can make them do whatever you want. As long as they can physically do it, they will. They have these instincts too. This drive to be the best for their person. Best partner. Best friend. Anything they can. Eventually, you barely have to order them."

Ghost felt bile in the back of his throat. "That simple huh?"

"Yep. Snap your fingers and he'll jump." He snapped his fingers. "Just make sure they stay busy. Can't let them find the coats, ya know?"

Ghost held Soap's coat a little closer around himself. "Right..."

Davina came back with a cup of tea for him and cup of coffee for her dad. She perched on the window seat, right behind Fergus. She glared into Ghost, her calm demeanor disappearing.

Slowly, she mouthed at him. "Watch yourself."

Oh thank god. She was cool.

He didn't pay much attention anymore, just staring blankly ahead as Davina and Fergus talked. Already, he was starting to regret this.

Soap sat next to him, almost but not quite touching him which he was thankful for. Ghost picked up that Fergus didn't talk to him with the others around. He tried not to think too much about that.

Soap's mom was lovely. She smiled at him and commented that it was nice to have someone else that doesn't drink coffee.

"I hope vanilla is okay? I don't really keep Earl Gray in stock..." She was a tiny lady, but her hair was incredibly dark for her age. It curled around her and was clearly something she took care of.

Ghost quickly shook his head. "No, vanilla is fine."

"It's his favorite but he won't admit that." Soap laughed and Ghost instinctively pulled him just a little closer. Fergus gave him a sharp look but Ghost interrupted before anyone got the chance to say anything.

"Maybe." Ghost smiled.

"Oh! Do you want to see some baby photos?" Moray, Soap's mom, said excitedly. "I never get to show his partners these!" She grabbed a book and his sister quickly crowded on Ghost's other's side. He tried not to fidget too much at all the contact.

"Mom..." Soap whined but he let her.

Moray put the book on the table. "A little hard to explain that he was born with white hair." She showed him the baby photo of tiny Soap. His eyes were almost black, like an actual seals and his hair was a pure white color like snow. As the photos changed to his toddler years, he looked perfectly human but they were now intermingled with pictures of a tiny seal pup.

''You were so small." Ghost hummed. "So you guys actually turn completely into a seal?"

"Completely." Soap smiled. "It's pretty fun. I'd have to have my coat back though."

"Never going to happen then." Ghost replied like he was told. He saw Moray flinch but one glance between them and she immediately relaxed.

As hard as he tried, Ghost couldn't imagine being this vulnerable and also this trusting. He could be puppeting Soap to act like this around his family and none of them would know.

What a disconcerting thought. He glanced at Soap.

Ghost hadn't noticed it earlier, but around his family, he could see it. This faint sadness. It was more prominent in their mom. Davina had it, though only when looking at her family.

He couldn't handle this. He needed air.

"Excuse me." Ghost pulled away and went outside, hugging the coat closer. He couldn't feel the cold, but he knew outing himself as not human wouldn't be smart. The snow piled up but he just stepped out.

Fucking hell.

He missed his mom.

Ghost jerked up, straightening his posture. Where the fuck did that come from?

He thought about her. She'd love Soap. Of course, she would though.

Mary Riley was a good woman.

What would she do?

She'd help. Somehow.

Ghost should help too.

Simon let out a breath. "Alright. I'm going to find this woman's coat if it fucking kills me."

If everybody had survived at the end of TO, after hope was out of school and living her own life, do you think Hayley and Elijah would travel the world together? Would they continue to just live in New Orleans? Or do you think they would settle down somewhere like Manosque?

One reason I love haylijah is because I truly felt like they wanted the same things out of life. It felt like they found their missing piece that would help them create the life they wanted. All they wanted was family. So I don't think they would leave their family just because Hope is off at school.

First, they wouldn't have sent Hope to school. Hayley sending Hope to boarding school never made sense to me. Hayley fought so hard, even lost her life, for Hope only to send her to boarding school and see her a couple of times a year? Absolutely not. Hayley grew up without her family, she wouldn't have done that to Hope. Sure the school allowed Hope to be around supernatural creature, but so did New Orleans. And in New Orleans, Hope could be herself. She was protected by the factions. She was the heir to the pack, Davina and Vincent wouldn't let anything happen to her so she had the witches protection, and she hadn't the strongest vampires watching over her. All of whom could teach her more than human Alaric could. So at the end of TO, if they all had lived, Hope never would have gone back to that school, especially once Klaus and Elijah caught wind of how Alaric was talking about their family. They would have kept Hope in New Orleans with them and focused on her education in New Orleans, allowing her to learn with the supernatural community down there.

But even if Hope decided to move away for college or just to travel herself, I don't see Hayley or Elijah leaving New Orleans completely. At least not for a while. New Orleans was the first place either of them had ever felt at home. There is a scene, I can't remember when, but where Hayley tells Elijah she wanted to fight for New Orleans because she wanted Hope to have a home. Like the traumatized kids they were, both Elijah and Hayley just wanted a home.

They would have eventually moved out of the compound when Hope was old enough and gotten their own place. Hope of course would have had her own room if she wanted to stay with them. It would have been out in the bayou because Hayley would want to be with her pack and Elijah would enjoy being out of the city. It would be close enough that their family could still stop by unannounced at all times, but far enough to keep them their own space.

Don't get me wrong, they would still travel. Elijah would want to show Hayley the world. Some vacations Hope would come with them, or even the whole family. But they would make sure they went on at least one by themselves each year. Hayley would enjoy finally being able to travel and relax, with and without Hope. Klaus or one of her aunts or uncles would take Hope on solo trips when Hayley and Elijah traveled so that Hope wouldn't feel left out. They would all love showing Hope different places they had been throughout history. Hayley would love watching Elijah ramble on about the historical significance of each place and Hope would grow bored and try to move him along. I wish we could have seen the Mikaelsons travel together.

Long answer short, Hayley wouldn't want to leave her pack or the Mikaelsons and Elijah wouldn't want to leave his family. I see them spending a considerable amount of time in New Orleans. They would eventually move away, after all they have eternity, but New Orleans would remain their home. They would always keep their house there and return from time to time. Not only was it their first home, but it was where they fell in love and it was where Hope was born. It would always hold a special place in their heart.

tvd at it's core is about people doing unjustifiable things for 'love'. Whether i choose to read some relationships as more of a predatory obsession, the crux of this show is damaged grieving people sacrificing and further damaging themselves and others in the pursuit of it, see the mikaelsons with eachother and the salvatore's with Elena and Elena with basically everyone. And I've always read Video Games as both one of the most beautiful love songs of all time but also as an acknowledgment of codependence and lost potential. The song romanticises monotony and mundane life, which is fair. but there's a touch of melancholy beneath the surface of picture perfect normalcy. much like tvd itself.

"part of the past but now you're the future," Could refer to any of the vampire's in the show but I personally love it when thinking of Elena and the doppelganger's before her. In the background of all of history but with an endless future before her. "You could get the blues, But that don't mean that you should abuse it," EVERY FKN KID ON THAT SHOW. And yes I mean kid, the MF gang were children. And they did, in fact, get the blues and abuse it.

Anyone who's read my endless rambling before knows where I'm going with this but, jfc the salvatore's !!! Both Stefan and Damon (and canon as a whole but wtv) view their mistreatment of Elena as something unavoidable. Following the theme of horrific acts in the name of love from earlier, Stefan didn't have a choice in entering Elena's life. To him, it was his right, his purpose. (he had to know her).

Despite Elena being a grieving child who did not need any more bullshit in her life. He had too. And when that later caused even further turmoil, both from his own actions and indirect, unintended consequences. He metaphorically put his head in his hands, it wasn't just her suffering but him. In fact, if he really thought about it, later in canon, that is. It was almost equally her fault what happened. From his POV atleast.

Damon basically follows all the same beats but is more open about it, bemoaning his own lost chances with Elena as something completely disconnected to his very purposeful and avoidable choices to cause her pain. He's impulsive, it's not his fault.

Damon could only dream of being 6'2 but you get it.

When I tell you that Hosie literally means the world to me- especially in season 2- building off of this post they're giving each other the reassurances they both need because they have an understanding of each others emotional needs.

There is so much to expand on just in that conversation Josie and Hope have together in 2x07 where Hope goes to Josie to ask whether or not she's welcome to stay at the school (because Hope doesn't want to be in a place where she's not welcome.) The fact that she's actively seeking out Josies opinion specifically and wants her assurance because she values that above all else and also doesn't want to cause Josie any more pain. Hope was willing to put her own wants aside and leave if staying was only going to hurt Josie which proves how much Hope really does value and prioritize Josies feelings and happiness. And Josie tells her 'he made his choice, we can make our own...you belong here, I want you to stay' she's reassuring that Hope will definitely still have a place at the school where she'll be loved, even with Landon gone, and that she doesn't have to worry the decision hurting Josie because she would be happier if Hope stayed. This again shows that longing Josie has for Hope and in turn gives Hope the reassurance that she's actually wanted. That whole scene had me- 😭 they really are heartbreakingly beautiful.

And then later on Hope makes the choice to save Josie from the prison world because she knew that she was in danger, telling Josie that she made 'her own choice and that it wasn't Landon', even when Hope knew Landon was in danger too, she's again prioritizing Josie over anything else. You cannot tell me that Hope was not thinking back to that conversation when she said that !! Anyway I could literally talk about these two all day thank you for giving me the excuse to ramble bye-

ohhhhhhhhh, god. YEAH, exactly :( exactly this. Like even in The Originals right now, in season 5, most of Hope's emotional conflict centers on feeling unwanted and not good enough. She tells Marcel she's afraid Klaus doesn't love her anymore and it really personally hurt her that he said he was always bound to leave her broken.

Which, really, that dialogue was only reflective of just how much Klaus actually loves her. Klaus is afraid of hurting her by being a violent person because his biggest fear is being Hope's very own Mikael. He genuinely thinks that Hope is better off not seeing him, both because of the hollow and because he thinks he hurt and betrayed her (and he did, in a sense) when Hope saw who he 'really was'. But Hope is still young and she's still figuring all of this out, so all she can tell is that her father 'doesn't want to be around her' and she wants nothing more than to be loved and wanted, so it hurts. Freya is talking about leaving with Keelin, Rebekah is in New York, Kol and Davina are in Belize. Her family members all have lives that she feels like she barely fits into and then Hayley goes missing and she feels even more adrift and alone.

She constantly worries about if she's doing good things and living up to the sacrifices they make because of the hollow. She feels like a burden that's keeping these other people (who love each other very much and have done so for over a thousand years) from being together. She feels like she can't possibly live up to that or live 'well enough' to not be guilty over it. She feels constant pressure to be perfect. She's constantly agonizing over how much she both loves her family and wants to have what normal families have but also knowing that it's impossible and she will always be this miracle baby newcomer who, in her eyes, caused problems. Enough 'problems' to break up a thousand year old family vow. Of course, it wasn't actually broken and she didn't do this, but that's not her perspective.

But with Josie, all of that is put to the side. Josie admires every part of Hope and she specifically is moved by Hope's ability to be good, hence "Hope is strong and she is good" being the crux of how she was able to overcome her own dark side. I feel like a lot of the time people started to take for granted that Hope was saving them and to some extent there's this attitude of "Well, she's the tribrid so she just has to, it's an even exchange for her power level" but not from Josie. Josie has deeply internalized how much she admires every single part of Hope. To the point she was literally her light in the darkness and pulled her out of what the dark magic did to her head

Hope was able to get through to her before the Merge ceremony because Josie loves her so much that the fact she was refusing to let go of her even when everyone else said there was no getting through to her... It touched her so deeply and it gave her everything she's always wanted. Everything she still wanted after, which we see in the Finch speech.

Hope doesn't have to worry about being good enough for Josie because even when her humanity was flipped off and she was at her WORST, Josie's subconscious was telling Ted that if he gave up on Hope he would basically be giving up on all of the people she would save. Because she believes without any hint of doubt that Hope is good at her core and will always come back. She will always save people, just like she did Josie. Hope is quite literally her hero and her anchor and her soulmate and not even Hope's humanity being off (and Ric almost dying) changed that even for a second.

The therapy box is representative of one's subconscious and despite her father almost dying because of Hope, there was not resentment in her subconscious. It was literally a scenario constructed around how Hope has a complex legacy that's basically impossible to navigate without help (and Josie's help specifically) but Hope is still good. The best person she knows. There was not even a sliver of doubt about that. She knew Hope would come back from that darkness. When you contrast this with Lizzie's, where Lizzie's therapy box was giving this perspective that Hope was too far gone and needed to be killed, it's even more obvious just how unwavering her faith in Hope is. And like, no one person should never be questioned on their actions, obviously, but that's not what I'm talking about really. Josie still wanted to stop Hope and keep her from hurting herself and others in the same way that Josie did when she was controlled by her darkness. She intimately understands what it's like to harbor immense power and have it bent out of your control because of the dark side of magic. But at her core she still believes in her and that kind of faith is directly soothing to Hope's “I think I’m just tired of everyone being so scared of me”.

Those fears of not 'living up' or not being wanted enough are just taken care of when she's around Josie because now they're connected and they have this understanding. That's why Josie is the one who holds onto the weapon that could kill her, in the end. There is literally no one else in the world Hope trusts and feels more connected to than that. And it's because they both were able to be each other's anchors and soothe those fears. They were perfect for each other

I mean its a little bit that the most powerful witches were the White ones. It's very much related to how the Original Vampires were all White and went so far as to seed fake lore and myths around the world in other cultures to hide it. That just made these lame ass family ridiculously important. Its a really gross Eurocentric view of history

I probably could have worded my response to that ask a little better, but as someone who is a big fan of witches and magic users within this genre, I like all the characters that get to utilize their craft. And it's, like you said, very Eurocentric when it comes to everything supernatural related on that show.

The fact that the Originals were presented in place of the Old Ones from the books, who dated back the Bronze Age or even earlier, but now are a barely 1000 years old Viking Family. It's the fact that before that backstory was given we had the Aztec and Roman references to the Sun & Moon Curse, only to have it be an elaborate prank by the Mikaelsons so that Klaus could feel more like a man.

To circle back the witch aspect because I feel like I'm rambling, I stand by what I said before. I don't dislike characters like Davina or Liz and Luke Parker for their ability to be incredibly powerful witches. Given how overpowered even the weakest vampire on this show is, it's nice to see witches (and werewolves) flex their power to even the playing field, even if only briefly.

When it comes to Bonnie, she was allowed to he powerful, but then was IMMEDIATELY humbled afterward so as not to upstage the white characters. I would argue that Bonnie was actually the most powerful witch we had in this universe (though admittedly, I never watched any of Legacies so I don't know about the Tribrid - god I hate that word). And obviously, yes, this was because of the racism of the showrunners and the writers, whether intentional or not, but it still burns all these years later.

Ultimately, this all comes down to Plec & Co. watering down the source material so that they could make it more palatable for people who were just tuning in for the love triangle and relationship drama, a staple of The CW. And I'm not saying that like the books were these literary masterpieces, because they weren't, but st least thought had gone into those, whereas the show was just "how do we make this the most simple version we possibly can so that we can get back to the drama?"

Chapter 1: Love At First Sight

Logan was on his rounds, patrolling the palace grounds, when he heard a loud crash from the east wing. He rushed to investigate, sword in hand, and found a guy lying on the ground. It was Prince Patton.

"Are you hurt, Sir?" Logan asked, offering him a hand to help him up.

"No, I'm fine," He said, brushing herself off after taking the knights hand. "Just a little dizzy."

Logan looked him over and saw that he wasn’t really injured, though he would probably have a bruise on his knee. "May I ask, Your Higness, what are you doing out here alone?" he asked.

The Prince looked down at his feet, avoiding Logan's gaze, scratching the back of his hair. “I was just trying to.. Well find a shortcut.”

Logan raised an eyebrow. Something about this man didn't add up. He could feel it in his gut. "I see," he said, lowering his voice. "Well, if you're sure you're okay, I'll escort you back to the main entrance. Come on."

He offered him an arm, and he took it gratefully, still avoiding his gaze. As they walked, Logan couldn't help but take note of the way he walked. He was graceful and elegant, like a dancer. Even though there was a slight limp to it.

Logan escorted the Prince back to the main entrance and made sure he was okay before taking his leave.

As Patton made his way towards the sleeping chamber, his father ran into him. “Hello, my so-“ he cut himself off as he noticed the limp in Pattons walk. “What happened?” He asked, looking down at his son’s knees.

“I was trying to get to the sleeping chamber with a shortcut but I fell and then this knight helped me come here.. I haven’t seen him before.. I think he’s new-“ Patton rambled.

“I see, you must’ve met Logan, he’s new, he’s Princess Davina’s brother. He’s here to protect the castle, he’s the one with glasses, right?” His father asked, making sure he was right.

Patton nodded.

In the following days, Logan found himself thinking more and more about the strange encounter. He couldn't get the image of the Prince out of his mind - his messy hair, his nervous smile, he was kind as well.

As he went about his duties, Logan noticed that he began to pay more attention to the Prince's activities. He was fascinated by his passion for art, impressed by his generosity towards his subjects, and intrigued by his shy, yet extroverted nature. And yet, there was always something holding him back. Logan couldn't shake the feeling that their encounter meant something more, something he couldn't quite put into words.

As the days turned into weeks, Logan found himself looking for the Prince at every opportunity. They would share a glance across a crowded room, or exchange a few words at a royal function. It was love at first sight.

WHITEHALL, CELLAR

Mari petted Snowball, the cat disliking being in the cellar of Whitehall. They were only a few blocks away from the Ministry of Magic where they were going to attempt to steal. . . retrieve. . . hmm, borrow (?) the time turner. 

Delphi had gotten her hands on ingredients to make Polyjuice potion, which Mari knew must've been prepared over the summer since it took a month to make the potion. She also knew from her visions that these must've been taken from the Hogwarts potion cupboard since that's what Headmistress McGonagall had noticed was gone. 

Mari wasn't sure how she felt about that, the vibes from the Delphi woman growing more untrustworthy as time went on. 

"So we just take it?" Scorpius asked, looking at the bottle in front of him. 

"Scorpius, do I really need to explain to you- ubergeek and Potions expert- what Polyjuice does? Thanks to Delphi's brilliant preparation work, we are going to take this potion and be transformed, and thus disguised we will be able to enter the Ministry of Magic." 

"Okay, two points, one, is it painful?" Scorpius asked hesitantly. 

"Very- as I understand it." Delphi said. 

"Thank you. Good to know. Second point: Do either of you know what Polyjuice tastes of? Because I've heard it tastes of fish and if it does I will just vomit it back up. Fish doesn't agree with me. Never has. Never will." Scorpius rambled on. 

Mari had read her mothers' books and knew that her Uncle Harry thought that Polyjuice Potion was the worst thing he'd ever taken, including Skelegrow. Mari had never had to take Skelegrow as she had never been active enough to break a bone. However, when Davina had broken her leg climbing a tree, she had cried when she had to take the medicine. 

All in all, Mari was not looking forwards to taking the Polyjuice Potion. 

"Consider us warned." Delphi said, before knocking back the potion in her hand. "It doesn't taste of fish. Actually it tastes quite pleasant, yum. It is painful but. . . take it back. There is a- slight-" Delphi burped before turning into Hermione Granger. "-Slight- overpowering- fishy residue." 

"Okay, that's. . . wow." Albus mumbled. 

"Double wow." Scorpius said. 

When Delphi spoke, she sounded exactly like Maris' Aunt Granger, "This really doesn't feel how I- I even sound like her! Triple wow." 

"And I'll be Quadruple wowed when we get into the Ministry, get the time-turner, and get out alive." Mari said dryly. 

"Right. Me next." Albus said quickly. 

"No. No way, José. If we're doing this, we're doing it together." Scorpius said as he put on a pair of Harrys' glasses. 

Mari dropped her mother's hair into the glass, wondering what it was going to be like, being her mother. She watched as the brown sludge turned a beautiful turquoise colour. Scorpius' turned gold while Albus' turned a dark red, almost light brown for Ron. 

"Three. Two. One." Albus counted down. Mari tossed back her drink and immediately wanted to retch. It was indeed one of the worst things she'd ever drank, tasting like a mixture of mud and sewer water. 

The taste is only drowned out by the pain of Mari changing. She shrinks down to her mothers size, her shoulder length black hair growing and lightning up. Her anorexic thin body becomes bigger, though still slender. 

Mari observed herself in the mirror, realizing that she was not perfect. She had tired bags under her eyes and she had stretch marks along her thighs and stomach. And yet, she was still beautiful- her mother that is. 

She noted how sad she made her mother look, since it was her resting face on her mother. Was this how she constantly looked? She knew she was different from the other kids. Didn't laugh or smile easily, but her life wasn't bad either. She wasn't depressed. But looking at her sadness on her normally cheerful mother made her realize something deep inside. . . she just couldn't place her finger on it. 

"This is going to be slightly weird, isn't it?" Her Uncle Rons' voice came from behind her. While she had been observing herself in the mirror, Scorpius and Albus had been looking at each other instead. 

"Go to your room. Go straight to your room. You've been an incredibly awful and bad son!" Harry/Scorpius cried out dramatically. Maris' lips twitched into a smile, which definitely looked more natural on her mothers' face, which made Mari realize another thing. 

To really pull this off, she needed to not only look like her mother, but act like her as well.

"Scorpius. . ." Albus/Ron laughed behind her as Mari looked back in the mirror, trying a larger smile. It didn't fall naturally to her, but it looked a lot better. 

"It was your idea-" Scorpius defended himself as he fixed his glasses on his face. "I be him and you be Ron! I just want to have a little fun before I-" He burped "-Okay, so that's utterly horrible." 

"You know." Albus commented as he ran his hands over his body. "He hides it well, but Uncle Ron's got a bit of a gut growing." 

"I think my mother has been hiding her stretch marks with magic." Mari commented with another smile. "She shouldn't though, I actually kind've like them." 

"Your mother is actually really hot." Scorpius said and then paused, "You know what, I think I should probably take that back." 

"Considering you're disguised as Elizabeth Potters' brother, I would agree with that." Delphi said and then added, "We should go- don't you think?" 

As they walked onto the street, Scorpius continued to backtrack his thoughts, "I said that wrong Mari. What I meant was that many guys think your mother is hot. Like you've heard them at school, right?" 

"Harry!" Mari complained, pushing his shoulder playfully. "Knock it off! I don't want to think about it." 

"Right, right, sorry Elizabeth." Scorpius coughed, holding his hands up in surrender. 

Delphi led them to the telephone box, dialing 62442. Mari almost jumped as a voice in the box spoke suddenly, "Welcome, Harry Potter. Welcome, Hermione Granger. Welcome, Ron Weasley. Welcome, Elizabeth Snape." 

Mari smiled as the box started to descend into darkness. 

Hmm. . . this smiling thing was coming more naturally with time!

Hello!! I was rereading Little Favors (for the hundredth time now probably, it's just so good and wonderful and always gives me butterflies when I read it) and getting to the part where Kol says that he's never been anyone's best friend before just hit me so hard. Like when was the last time he'd been able to just be around someone? To be able to nerd out about magic without it being a life or death situation? To just have fun with people he can trust won't stab him in the back? It all just made me want to wrap him up in a blanket and let him relax and have fun.

(On a slightly lighter note, I was listening to the song Seven by Sleeping at Last and the whole restless wanna see and know and experience everything really reminded me of Kol)

Thirdly, you are so right! I thought it was so, so sad that we never once saw Kol make an actual friend without any drama or ulterior motives to hide. I mean there's that undefined period of time during which Kol pretended to be friends with Jeremy Gilbert but, honestly, that's just more sad. It's why I headcanon that Kol has BPD or Borderline Personality Disorder. It's highly likely that he believes he has to create an entirely different personality in order to be liked or cared for or loved - that just Kol himself will never be enough for anyone, that no one will ever love him for who he is instead of what he can do for them. Of course, he had Davina, but that relationship was drowning in drama and hidden agendas from the very start. Though she forgave him for abiding by Esther's mandates seeing as he really didn't have much of a choice, Davina still only associated with him after that for his "witch encyclopedia brain". I think that's just incredibly sad.

Anyway, Anon, if you're still willing to associate with me after this train wreck of a post, I just wanna say that I listened to Seven. scott & allison, ugh these babies like that was scott's first love and he was a stupid teenage boy with his heart on his sleeve and he made so many mistakes but allison holds so much of his heart. always. even if they break up, or don't get back together, or are just friends now, or whatever. she's so so important to him.

scott & lydia, the best of buddies. like this girl could have been like him, bitten by the same wolf and would've been part of the same pack ( even if it wasn't a pack ) but she didn't turn. she had something else going on, and scott wants to help so much with that and he feels such a connection to her anyway. and later he'll never understand how he could have ever gotten through life without lydia because she is one of the most important people in his life. i also do like exploring the idea of scott and lydia romantically ?? like, interesting how that would come around, but mostly i like them being platonic bffs.

on a role reverse for us muns, i'd like to explore dean and sam winchester interacting with scott because hunters coming across a true alpha like scott !!! that would be interesting, especially considering what part of the timeline dean and sam are at.

klaus & hayley !!!! one of my otp's, whether that's romantic, platonic, familial or enemies. i love these two's dynamics so so much, like it honestly has so much of my heart no matter what is going on with them. i love getting into the gritty realities between them as well as exploring how much they have changed and grown and evolved together. also so much potential for canon divergence's !!!!

hayley & davina's friendship !!! like these girls know what you have to do to survive in new orleans and they just ... help each other out when they can. it's all they can do. I think there's just something so sweet about this and i love it. i'd love to see hayley and davina also being like, older, and sister-in-laws, and being like, ugh, mikaelson christmas.

I just finished Vixen and The Fox. I have a lot of thoughts but one thing that stuck out to me is Elijah and Kol's relationship. It's surprisingly..... good. Is that just because you like Elijah as a character? I totally get it if so, lol, because I've written my share of fic and realized later that my bias came through.

I only ask because if I were Kol, I would sooner make up with Klaus, Finn, hell, even Mikael rather than him. He was SUCH a terrible brother to Kol specifically that it pissed me off sometimes. Even when Kol became a witch again. Like, he never listened to what he had to say (even Klaus, Freya and Rebekah did! Those three sometimes don't listen to anyone but themselves!), he was ALWAYS last on Elijah's priority list, he didn't even really care when he came back to life after he died. That's why Elijah believing him at any point surprised me, especially in the beginning. I mean he literally smirked when Klaus daggered Kol sometimes and went out of his way to keep him daggered to 'keep Klaus on the right track' (hello? stand up to your damn brother sometimes and stop making Kol suffer for it!), this in addition to finding out what he did to Davina, I can't believe Kol trusted him as much as he did. I love that Kol had support (especially his friends outside the family) but I was so surprised that a lot of it was Elijah. I was even more surprised than Big Davina, who hated Elijah passionately and got fucked over by him MANY times, was rooting for Hayley and Elijah. Little Davina, I got, but big D was surprisingly supportive for someone who got repeatedly manipulated and betrayed by Elijah. I would've expected her to prefer Jackson because she actually got to spend time around them both.

(I'm all for Hayley being happy so I was happy with whoever she ended up with, but from a Davina POV, I mean)

Although I'm aware my bias against Elijah and Kol being my favourite Mikaelson could come into play, I tried to specifically only leave it to things that canonically happened (and I know it's a divergent story, which is why I left it to things that canonically happened by the time the story starts that Big Davina knows about future wise, and Kol knows about past wise) so it doesn't just come off as senseless rambling, lol.

Some other rapid fire thoughts: We definitely needed more kolvina centric stories! Love that Henrik's alive. Love that Finn got to live with Sage. LOVED that Vincent was a major player. Kaleb and Isaac was so funny. Bonnie Bennett!!!!! Marbekah got their happy ending! Mikael making a sacrifice for the kids felt right. Coming up with all those names must've been difficult, I salute to you.

I will admit Kol and Elijah are my favorite Mikaelsons, it was a blatantly obvious bias, but not the base on what I built off of in Vixen & the Fox.

I like Elijah from TVD & Seasons 1-2 Originals Elijah, I feel that season 3-5 are a caricature of Elijah in the end to boost Klaus and tear apart the Mikaelsons. Elijah in TVD was devoted to finding ALL his siblings, including Kol and Finn, and he was wanting to destroy Klaus when he believed his little brother destroyed them. THAT is the Elijah I used as my base.

As to Kol and his general relationships with his siblings, well, that one is a bit more complex given we don't actually know much about Kol's immortal life or the general dynamics of the Original family before immortality. What we do know as canonical fact is the following:

Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah were the closest siblings of the family.

Finn and Kol were frequently singled out by their siblings.

Klaus likes to keep his siblings close, even if Kol scares the ever-loving shit out of him. (And I say that watching the first time we're ever introduce to Kol and Klaus looks like he wants to run away).

Mikael is abusive.

Esther coddles Klaus, but is cruel to her other children by Mikael. Which lead to Klaus NOT killing someone before he was turned and hid his wolf's curse, but it also enabled Mikael's abuse on his children for most of their lives.

Freya and Finn were very close in both age and emotionally before they were torn apart by Esther and Dahlia. After Finn lost Freya he couldn't connect with his younger siblings emotionally.

Kol is not with the family unit in ANY of the flash backs of their mortal time, which insinuates he was living on his own. Same with Finn.

They were established as Vikings, the runes use are predominantly from Iceland region, but the names for Dahlia and Esther are in Sweden and Norway, insinuating that Mikael travelled and was very wealthy.

They owned land, so they were POWERFUL as a mortal family. And in Viking hierarchy and culture this probably meant that Finn and Kol were establishing their own homes and managing their own lands.

Kol and Elijah scare Finn and Klaus on a primal, base level, and they're the brothers least understood by their siblings (as shown by Finn's use of talisman magic believing Elijah the noble Stag, and Kol's ability to terrify Esther enough to put him in the body of a weak witch thinking that would stop or slow him down). No one bothers to genuinely understand either of these brothers beyond a superficial level and a reputation level.

The lack of actual historical context for the Originals, and the full scope of their histories lead to how I structured their family unit. Yes, I do have a bias towards Elijah and Kol, because Elijah had the coldest and coolest introduction of any character, even Klaus, in the TVD universe. And I was introduced to Kol when he was played by Daniel Sharman (I watched Originals before TVD, I had no idea the two shows were connected, but Daniel Sharman's Kol was just amazing, and I loved him so much), anyways that added a lot of context for how the characters would interact because if Kol was introduced as human, that's the closest to his true self that he could be and what perversions did that mean for him and his siblings over the course of a thousand years.

Building Elijah's and Kol's relationship off of that possibility, of the perversions of their true selves is what actually structured the characters. I did it with all of the Mikaelsons, because I do think Klaus was still cursed by the Hunter's curse nearly a millennia later, and that the siblings were out of touch with their true selves and their humanity. So, I built the story around them regaining their humanity slowly. Elijah was probably the quickest to regain his humanity, but if you factor in the idea that he's acted as patriarch and protector of his family since he was human, then it made sense that his priorities would be the quickest to adjust and shift. Elijah was also, canonically, the one to form a deep, profound bond to Hope before she was born, he was the one to advocate for Hayley and protecting her as a Mikaelson before Klaus got interested in having his family, and Elijah was the one to work at making room for the 'mortals' in the family initially, so he's the one I could see having the priorities shift swiftest and his growth being more prominent. Also, remember, Kol and Elijah have a thousand years of history, and Davina has a handful of years with Elijah and Kol, so that history and sibling bond, it was always there, Elijah hadn't severed it by destroying Davina at the time of Kol and Elijah reconnecting. It's not to say Elijah was a good brother to Kol but he is Kol's brother at the end of the day and that's what matters the most sometimes. Also, Kol clearly scares the shit out of ALL his siblings when he goes off the rails, so I don't think Kol is the most pleasant being to be around when he's running around wreaking havoc. And he's clearly difficult to stop if KLAUS has to plan ambushes to dagger him. So no, Elijah and Kol might not always be the best brothers, but they are brothers, and that counts for a hell of a lot even when you dislike one another.

And Big Davina, even if she made peace with Elijah, couldn't and wouldn't tear that relationship away from Kol when what he wants most is those connections. Davina's core is about love, selflessness, selfishness, and suicidal bravery (she faced off with Klaus, multiple times, with nothing but her wits as a teen). Davina as a base character, isn't cruel to her loved ones, and she wants her loved ones happy, so she would sacrifice her own thoughts, grudges, and opinions on Elijah so Kol could have that connection. But she also got to see Elijah's humanity resurface with Haley, and I think she'd focus on that connection to try to keep Elijah grounded, so he didn't get to the point of sacrificing her again. Big Davina's goals were to undo the damages the Mikaelsons had done, even on themselves, and that's what drove her. Lil Davina just wanted to keep her family together and safe, and have her loved ones happy, and that's what drove her. In the end, the core aspect of Davina is love, and it's her drive. Davina is a deeply, intensely, loyal person at her core, and she loves Kol the most, so she'll do whatever it takes to make him happy.

Hayley and Elijah just fit in this mismatch, star crossed way, and it seems Haley connected to Elijah's humanity in a way that no one else had bothered to. And I think Davina seeing how she could do that for Kol, saw it with Elijah and Hayley which is why she focused on their romance blossoming.

Kolvina is the best ship in the TVD Universe, anyone who says different is lying.

Henrik deserved to live a life beyond being a catalyst for his family's tragedy.

Finn also deserved a life beyond being an antagonist for his family.

Vincent is King and I love him!

Daniel Sharman... he's adorable as any character, but we all love Isaac and Kaleb most!

Bonnie deserves so much more than what TVDU offered her, she's a queen and deserves the world. I also always wanted her and Davina to meet.

Rebekah and Marcel deserved to be happy! And have a life outside of Klaus' tyranny.

Mikael is honestly one of my favorite TVDU characters, I find him absolutely fascinating in a morbid, cruel way, because he's so tragic and yet so cruel and selfish, you see he's truly the father of the Mikaelson clan and how he shaped his kids is just fascinating.

Naming the kids required a lot of baby name sites, I'm still being spammed with baby thing advertisements because of the name hunting... -.-' ... But I hope everyone likes the names.
