Hi hello tell me more about one-sided Lupin/Lily (and also if Sirius realizes it lol)
hiii imp.
i was thinking recently that fanon always has lupin and lily being besties and that's a trope that's permeated a lot of good canon-based fic too and i was wondering why---the biggest reason obviously is the poa movie and that weird made up monologue david thewlis delivers about recognising harry by his eyes (which is sooo ?!?!?!) but most of the fandom knows that's a movie only thing. so then i was like alright, theyre both kind people, lily defends his "secret" to snape before she even really knows him, she likes all of james' other friends etc etc--it doesn't not make sense--
except lupin is really...oddly silent on lily in the books. not that we get sirius professing his love for her or anything but we get the letter in DH, at least. lily clearly loves him. he's in the wedding photos and lily obviously agreed to name him godfather. he reassures harry that lily loved james in ootp. the letter from lily also has her calling peter 'wormy' and being concerned about his emotional state.
nowhere in the 7 books do we actually get a hint of lily&lupin friendship. in poa, harry tells lupin he heard his dead parents when the dementors attacked and lupin simply goes 'you heard JAMES?'
which makes me think...they just weren't that close, lol. so i did some digging and it turns out jkr once implied that lupin sort of had feelings for lily, which would serve as a great hc for why he mightve been distant and generally awkward around her. because no way is he going to contest james on this particular matter---1. he LOVES james and 2. this is remus lupin we're talking about.
so the end result is...he just never got that close to her.
james would never notice this, imo. SIRIUS realising it? more likely .i feel like he would, and he'd probably be the type of guy to take the piss out of lupin for it, lmao. and maybe, like @casquecest said, it would build up the case in his mind for why lupin might be the spy later in their lives (some latent resentment towards james; this is ofc not true, lupin resents sirius xD)
SORRY FOR THIS NOVEL

Name: Javier Mijares Species: Human (Non-powered) Occupation: Student / Overnight Attendant at Grimm Family Ski Lodge Age: 23 Years Old Played By: Knifes Face Claim: Xolo Maridueña
"They say lightning never strikes the same place twice. I’m pretty sure that’s a lie."
Youngest of five, and the only boy, Javier was born into a game of catching up. Shortly before he was born, his father vanished. The last few months of pregnancy were a whirlwind for Javier’s mother as she adjusted to the search parties that would eventually dwindle in numbers, and then momentum; the idea of welcoming another baby, but by herself this time; the grief that came with her missing husband; the fresh weight of single parenting. Despite the circumstances, Javier was brought into the world surrounded by love. His mother was spread thin, but that only left more room for his sisters to dote on him.
In school Javier had a plethora of friends, but few very close. Truly, there were only two friends that he ever considered his best friends. Where he was always walking in the shadow of his sisters, he didn’t feel that way with these friends. They were on equal footing. The three of them did everything together from riding their bikes to school together, to creating a “magic club,” where they all learned basic stage magic, and also delved into the lore surrounding Wicked’s Rest. They scoured neighbors’ backyards for clues that the cryptid tales were real, but every morsel they found led to a dead end–logical, mundane explanations. It’s not Deepsnoots, it’s a mole. It’s not Wormy, it’s driftwood. Still, their shared interests bonded them that much further.
When Javier’s mother changed jobs, he and his mom moved to Bangor. His sisters had all graduated college and had their own lives at this point. Javier and his magically enthused friends swore to attend college together one day. They kept their connection through messenger apps and the occasional snail mail, until they had all graduated high school with plans to attend the University of Maine at Wicked’s Rest. Once again, Javier was met with that feeling of having fallen behind. Everyone else seemed like they had everything figured out. Everyone else knew what they were majoring in, and where they were going in life. Javier was struggling to find his direction. At the same time, the trio of friends found jobs in the shops around town, scraped together some money, and rented a flat on Worm Row together, while attending classes. Even with the looming feeling that he was drowning in the shallow end, there was nothing he could complain about. His life was clicking into place. He and his friends even picked up where they left off in terms of their occultish interests.
It came up one night, in talks about the spookier side of things in Wicked’s Rest, that Javier had fully missed the rite of passage that was touching the Mineral Abnormality. This would not do, so an immediate plan of action was enacted to right these wrongs. The drive there and the approach to the Abnormality itself was full of teasing and swapping stories about everything they’d ever heard could happen to you as a result of touching the surface of the Serpent’s Flat. Yet, Javier didn’t believe the tales, truly. If their investigations as kids had taught him anything, there was always a rational explanation for these things. It was easy to debunk. The surface of the Abnormality was warm. No doubt residual heat from the sun. He thought he could almost feel a vibration, like a soft hum beneath the rocks’ surface. His insides did not become his outsides. He did not sprout gills. It felt good to have taken this step as a resident of Wicked’s Rest, but that was all. Nothing more.
For the next few weeks, he did not notice any changes. One of his friends, David, swore that lightbulbs burst when he walked in a room. He could not demonstrate this ability, so Javier laughed it off. When David was struck by a bolt of lighting, on a sunny day, right in front of his friends, Javier was not laughing. David survived the strike, but it left destruction in its wake. Javier had completely forgotten about the lightbulb thing until his other friend, Dylan, reported it was happening to her, too. Surely, there was some kind of explanation, and Javier didn’t immediately connect it back to the night at Serpent’s Flat. When Dylan was struck, and this time killed by another freak bolt of lightning, Javier started to panic. One accident is a coincidence, but two? The thing is, lately, Javier has been noticing that street lights burn out as he bikes past. Lamps get brighter if he walks by. In the otherwise empty flat, he’s noticing for the first time just how loud the electricity can be, and how sometimes, if all is quiet and still, it almost sounds like whispering.
Character Facts:
Personality: Impatient, calculating, paranoid, protective, loyal, curious
Most call him Javier or Javi, but his family calls him Quinto.
His sisters are between 7-17 years older than him.
He lives in a flat on Worm Row that he shared with his two friends. With one of them deceased and the other hospitalized, he only shares it with his roommate’s tortie cat now. There’s a portion of the building that is built onto the Mineral Abnormality. The only thing separating Javi from the Abnormality is drywall and insulation.
He’s constantly getting static shocks during the day. They don’t bother him, but he keeps shocking his roommate’s cat. She’s not a fan.
He is currently of the mind that supernatural things might exist. It’s possible, but is it probable? He’s still explaining away odd occurrences.
If it’s storming out, he won’t go outside at all. If he’s going to be struck, he’d rather not go looking for chances.

SHORT PEOPLE GOT NOBODY
Opening in theaters today:
Saltburn--The title refers to the enormous, somewhat faded English country mansion in which most of the movie unfolds. But it may also suggest the proverbial pain of salt poured into a wound, as might be caused by the very sight of such a residence and the class system it represents.
Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan), a slight, nebbishy scholarship student to Oxford, is befriended by a classmate, the blueblood Adonis Felix (Jacob Elordi), who invites him home for the summer to the title pile of bricks in 2007. Felix's family is a fairly gothic bunch--abstracted Dad Sir James (Richard E. Grant), blithe, cordial Mom Lady Elsbeth (Rosamund Pike) and addled wreck of a sister Venetia (Alison Oliver), along with the sneering biracial American cousin Farleigh (Archie Madekwe). Carey Mulligan is also around as Elsbeth's nutty parasitical friend Pamela, as is Paul Rhys as the imperious butler Duncan.
Rather quickly, Oliver finds himself enmeshed with each of the family members, and drawn into the intrigues and occasional casual decadence of their isolated and mysterious lifestyle. While Oliver initially seems like an honest but in-over-his-head parvenu, like Balzac's Rastingnac or Faulkner's Ben Quick, we gradually see that he has his own wormy, calculating, opportunistic side.
This is the second feature written and directed by Emerald Fennell of 2020's Promising Young Woman. If it's a sophomore slump, that probably says more about the incisive brilliance and focus of Promising Young Woman than it does about any shortfalls of its own. The fury that charged Fennell's first film was direct and uncomplicated. Seemingly wanting to get across something more subtle and nuanced about class, Saltburn flails around a bit and sometimes feels confused, overwrought, overlong, even borderline campy.
But stick with it. It ultimately adds up to a potent piece of moviemaking, and of storytelling. Shot with hallucinatory garishness by the marvelous Linus Sandgren, the movie brings its setting vibrantly to life; there's none of the comforting stodginess of, say, Downton Abbey to it. And Fennell's narrative is involving. Even as we sense the influence of everything from The Shining to Risky Business, we're also pulled into investment in a yarn we haven't seen before. And she doesn't let us down; despite the movie's gratuitous thrashing about, in the end the plot snaps together to a satisfying and fairly devastating point.
Fennell also gets uniformly superb performances from her cast. Probably the wittiest and most endearing is Rosamund Pike, but Barry Keoghan, maybe the single best thing about The Banshees of Inisherin, is spectacular here, giving a tour de force turn in a role that is not only wildly mercurial on an emotional and psychological level, but also required physical fearlessness. Saltburn may end up being most remembered for literalizing a common expression for finding somebody extremely attractive, but Keoghan's draining performance makes a splash.
Napoleon--Returning to France, uninvited, from exile in Elba, the title character is confronted with a regiment of soldiers he used to command. "I missed you," he tells them, seemingly sincerely. Soon he's back in charge.
Apparently there is some historical basis for this scene; Napoleon is said to have had a fond and comradely relationship with his troops, despite his willingness to get them slaughtered. But to the casual viewer of this Ridley Scott epic, the moment may come as a surprise. Nothing in the movie prepares us for it. Played by Joaquin Phoenix, this Napoleon shows little affection or even interest toward anyone or anything apart from himself, and a certain almost adolescent erotic fixation on Josephine (Vanessa Kirby). In between campaigns, he makes rather unromantic attempts to impregnate her, and reacts with sullen outrage when they don't succeed.
Scott's movie, based on a script by David Scarpa, is largely a pageant of carnage. It begins with a graphic depiction of Marie Antoinette's meeting with Madame Guillotine, then shows us Napoleon navigating the deadly mayhem of the Revolution and the First Republic. It then traces him from battle to battle: Toulon, Austerlitz, Moscow and some of his other greatest hits, culminating, of course, against Wellington (Rupert Everett) at You-Know-Where.
This Napoleon isn't boring. It's entirely watchable and well-staged. Scott deploys his forces with the care of a child playing with toy soldiers on his bedroom floor. But it doesn't really hit hard emotionally; something is missing from it. Early on, we see a cannonball splat into the chest of a horse, and the resulting explosion of gore is so obviously computer-generated that, for me at least, it carried little shock (it has this in common with the splatter effects in Thanksgiving, which, exhaustingly enough, I saw the same day). This sort of detached unreality hangs over the movie's horrors, and the same detachment extends to the central character.
While Phoenix holds our attention with his movie star charisma, it's as if he's working in a vacuum. Except here and there in his scenes with Kirby's drolly unflappable Josephine, Phoenix seems to be anomic, walled off from the other characters by his own narcissistic self-regard. Maybe that's deliberate; maybe Scott is trying to dramatize the Napoleon of Walter de la Mare's unforgettable poem:
What is the world, O soldiers?
It is I.
I, this incessant snow,
This northern sky.
Soldiers, this solitude
Through which we go
Is I.
In any case, the movie has a point to make about the appetite for an autocratic "strongman" leader that seems to inevitably arise in reaction to the messiness of democratic movements. It's a theme which would, admittedly, seem to have a slight smidge of relevance to our current times. It should be noted that, warmongering megalomaniac though he was, Napoleon was also a tremendously intelligent and curious person, which puts him in a very different category than our most notable current would-be Emperor.

MINI_REVIEW(s):
The review template of choice for the TL;DR Tribe…
‘HAVE SOME SHAME’ (@alacarterecords_@summerdarlingtapes) is the latest & greatest LP from @dontgetlemontx & it finds the Austin-based trio heat_waving their way across 9 tracks that emphatically wield their synth_popping, electro_dancing & Nü_romancing ways as evidence on the giddily glammed up “Say Something New For Once.”
‘COAGULATED BLISS’ (@closedcasketactivities) is the latest LP from @fullofhell & it finds the Ocean City-based quartet of Spencer Hazard (guitar/electros), David Bland (drums/vox), Dylan Walker (vocals/lyrics) & Samuel DiGristine (bass/sax/vox) continuing their insanely prolific streak across a 12-track spread that further refines their grind_coring, salaciously shrieked & gruffly blast-beating ways as heard on “Vomiting Glass.”
‘GILT’ (@avant_records) is the debut LP from @profitprison & it finds producer Parker Lautenschlager’s hi-nrg-ing Seattle-based project perfectly pet_shop_boysing across 8 aesthetically dialed tracks of deliciously dark_disco’d & electrically body_moving DungeonSynthPop as witnessed on the throbbingly blunted “A Matter of Tact.”
‘ESCAPE FOREVER’ (@cerclesocialrecords) is the latest LP from @softkillpdx & it finds the wholly DIY Chicago-based duo of Tobias Grave & Nicole Colbath dropping their PowerPop masterpiece across an ear-wormy as fuck 13-track spread that waxes upon “the painful & joyful moment of creation, where guitars & melodies are supreme” while unleashing a torrent of street crunched, blitzed up & properly Midwestern’d AlternativeRock as heard on glamorously jangled “My Section.”

Morning Pages 2/8/2023
I’m working on developing my trust for the bigger energies that hold this world together. To trust that i am part of this divine puzzle and i am safe and protected. The systems of oppression have programed us to believe that we are inherently unsafe. The systems that are in place perpetuate the survival and fear when they are fully capable of supporting the health and safety of all. I am no longer interested in adhering to that prediction of reality. I’m in the business of changing the way we allow ourselves to be treated. This is the healing. We no longer allow the systems to separate us. We no longer look at ourselves at separate. We are one whole
I am looking at that last paragraph through my own experience and also through the experience of the collective. We already are connected, and the 3D world makes us think we are separate. Because we are separate in this dimension. Its part of it. Its part of the experience we signed up for.
I like what Val said on You Made It Weird. Something like “we are someone, some of the one. And we are awesome, some fo the awe.” the interconnectedness is something that i feel very easily and i definitely need to work on my boundaries on that. How do i protect my container? I need to do David’s class again. Maybe i’ll do that today.
Taking that walk with Jordan last night was really healing. Im grateful for the honesty i feel and I’m grateful for all the feelings that come up around them. The butterflies and the squirmy wormies. Last night i noticed the part of me that was judging him. And like, my judgment was that he was a weirdo, and i like weirdos, i am a weirdo, but then i felt a part fo me that thought “this isnt cool” or like “this isn't smooth” it was interesting, the more i felt into it, i could feel this ungroundedness that i look for in male partner. I look for that in male partners because i am not connected with my root. My sense of safety came from my father and i didnt realize how much i turned to men to feel safe. Its ok for me to express when i feel unsafe. And its ok for the people around me to feel unsafe and let me know. And we share how we feel, not to make it go away necessarily, although that is a symptom of this practice. Us expressing we’re both feeling unsafe allows us to support each other through our feelings of unsafety.
There is a song that came up on this playlist called “I Am Woman” and its really hitting me right now. Its on a root chakra playlist and the lyrics for this song are in red. I wonder what the weather is like today. I know later this week its gonna get close to 60. I might go to the beach on that day and sit out in the sun. When i think of my new job i get mixed emotions, mostly because i really enjoy and value having flexibility with my schedule. But this is only a necessary evil until the wedding work starts.
Interesting how i use the word evil. I still have a long of negative feelings around work like this. Im wondering what that is. There is a whole lot of judgment around a typical 9-5 job or basically any job that is required to give 40 hours. 40 hours is a whole lot. Id rather work 20 hrs a week.
I think today is the day to flesh out whatever thing i have in my head. Do a practice run of it and get it launched by March. Work it through in March. Record the classes, and then offer it as a grab and play for april. With “guidance hours”
I feel the part fo me that is scared to start this and that is saying that no one is interested. There are people who are interested. Manifesting Mari’s School for Wayward Adults. This is a school for adults who are in a transitional phase and looking to do something different than the system expects. 5 subjects. Reading, Writing, Science, Math, Arts/Music. 4 weeks. 2 offering times. I feel like im getting caught int he details and i need to get more specific on the person who would be a good fit for this class. I think this course is good for people who are working on self discovery
What was the thing i was trying to figure out. Oh. manifesting for disorganized attachment. The law of attraction is hard for me because there are so many different kinds of options that im open to that i cannot commit. The release and surrender had helped me a lot, but im still trying to integrate and process.
Im feeling very disconnected. Schuyler’s class really helped. Maybe i need to listen to David’s classes too. I should also reach out to Naomi or Ezra. i just feel so weird. I wonder if i should talk to jordan about shame around body and vices. The shame is not actually mine, is it? Like i dont think im doing a bad thing or guilty of something. But i do feel that little bit of me thats like “I’m a bad person and i am a temptress, a seductress, a siren, and a succubus.” im not bad for smoking. Im not bad for being fat. Im not bad for not being attractive. I am not bad for accidentally hurting someone. I am not bad. I am a conduit for love, honesty, and authenticity.
I want to get better at speaking my truth and being who i am. I am no longer trying to be someone different and trying to get to this wild point. Well i am. But i know my route will bring me home first. Bring me to myself. Bring me to the pure power of I Am that is the strongest power in this 3D world. You cant change someone who is sure of themselves. I used to be sure that i was a piece of shit. Now im sure im not. Now im sure that i am a loving, kind, and forgiving. I am forgiving with myself and with others to the best that i can. Sometimes being forgiving with myself and others can be a challenge, but i give myself grace and patience and allow myself ot heal on its own time. Healing is not my business. I am in the business of freedom, stability, exploration, and expansion.
Ok. starting now i am living in the present which is a paradise of abundance. I am tuning into what i know is here. I am being present and tuning into the magick that is here. I am tuning into th empower that is here. I am tuning into the love that exist and i amplify it. I am tuning into what the universe has and i amplify that which is authentic. I amplify that which i am able to. I am powerful and stronger than i think. I know i am powerful. I know i am strong. I know i am smart and capable. I am intelligent and witty. I am safe and protected. I am supported by the earth and i am supported by the divine. I am supported through love. I am a powerful human. I am a powerful medium. I am a sensitive psychic. I am a strong container and conduit for the divine. I am working for the greatest good for all and for the harm to none.
I am dedicated to connection. I am the heart. I am the bridge between the higher and lower. I am a goddess of this lower realm. I am a co creator with the divine and the universe. I am open and i am ready for my roles. I am brave and i am strong. I have all the tools i need. I give myself space and time. I have patience and trust.
I am part of this positive change in this world. I am the change that i want to see in this world. I am embodying the practices. I am ready for the next step.
Im gonna take LSD

"The Vain Falcon." Conclusion to the Book of Ruth, 4: 18-22.
The Book of Ruth concludes with a description of how to replace the husbands of the past with one that is brand new. King David and Prince Jonathan were the Romeo and Juliet of the ancient world. Their story began when a vision of a tradition called Ruth "friendliness" met with tragedy, the fall of the Kingdom of Israel. Only once in history do the books tell us the people were happy and it was while this man reigned over a doomed people. Here is how this happened.
A Genealogy in Judaism is not a way of seeing if the Mormons are related to Jesus Christ. They represent the stepwise progression of how pepople, their governments, and their ways of life are supposed to culminate in Shabbat. Following is what we shall call a Ruth Torah, instructions in the observation of Shabbat after widowhood:
The Genealogy of David
18 This, then, is the family line of Perez:
Perez was the father of Hezron,
19 Hezron the father of Ram,
Ram the father of Amminadab,
20 Amminadab the father of Nahshon,
Nahshon the father of Salmon,[d]
21 Salmon the father of Boaz,
Boaz the father of Obed,
22 Obed the father of Jesse,
and Jesse the father of David.
The proper definitions of the terms above are:
Perez= to make the breakthrough
Verb פרץ (paras) means to breach or break, whether through something, out of something or something into pieces. Noun פרץ (peres) means a breach or bursting forth.
Hezron=gather the people
The verb חצר (hasar) relates to the first visual manifestations of a gathering or emergence of some sort: to begin to cluster or gather or emerge.
The noun חציר (hasir) means grass, which is the first plant to sprout after, say, a fire. Noun חציר (hasir) means leek (a bigger version of grass) and חצצרה (hasosra) means trumpet, i.e. the perhaps leek-like instrument with which a gathering of humans is instigated.
The noun חצר (haser) denotes a hamlet or settlement or loose, rudimentary federation; the initial beginning of what some day might become a village or even a city. Noun חצר (haser) refers to an enclosure in the architectural sense, or even a court in the sense of it being a place where people loosely gather.
Ram= raise the social apex
The verb רום (rum) means to be high or high up in either a physical, social or even attitudinal sense, and may also refer to the apex in a natural process: the being ripe and ready-for-harvest of fruits. Subsequently, our verb may imply a state beyond ripe (higher than ripe, overripe), which thus refers to rotting and being maggot riddled. This means that to the ancients, higher did not simply mean better, and an arrogant political status that was higher than it should be equaled rot and worms (Acts 12:23).
Derived nouns, such as רום (rum) and related forms such as רמה (rama), describe height or pride. Noun רמות (ramut) describes some high thing. The noun ארמון ('armon) refers to a society's apex: a citadel or palace. The noun ראם (re'em) describes the wild ox, which was named possibly for the same reason why we moderns call a rising market a "bull" market. The similar verb ראם (ra'am) means to rise.
The important noun רמון (rimmon) means pomegranate and the pomegranate became the symbol for harvest-ready fruit (see our full dictionary article for more on this). Overripe items might suffer the noun רמה (rimma), worm or maggot, or the verb רמם (ramam), to be wormy.
Ammindab=treat everyone like a noble
The verb עמם ('mm) probably expressed to be inclusive or comprehensive. Its rare uses in the Bible relate to making secrets or making info available to an in-crowd. Preposition עם ('im) means 'with', מעם (me'im) means 'from', and עמה ('umma) means 'beside'. Noun עם ('am) means a people, ranging from all of mankind to the in-crowd of a small village. Noun עם ('am) refers to one's (paternal) kinsman.
The verb נדב (nadab) means to give, donate or volunteer, and by implication to be noble. From it derive the noun נדבה (nedaba), freewill offering, the noun and adjective נדיב (nadib), generous or noble, and the noun נדיבה (nediba), generous deed.
Nashon=employ the magic prayers, unleash the bronze serpent
The most fundamental meaning of the root נחש (nahash) is that of intuitive knowledge and near-accidental skill. It describes an ability to achieve a great technological feat — particularly smelting bronze — but crucially without truly understanding what makes the magic happen: the fire or the prayer, the air blasted into the furnace or the zealous faith of the technicians.
Dictionaries commonly spread the following words out over four separate roots, but to the ancients, these words all expressed the same core meaning:
The noun נחש (nahash) is the Bible's most common word for snake. Snakes in the Bible always represent some kind of mental process, usually intuitive and usually impure or otherwise detrimental.
The identical verb נחש (nahash) means to divine or soothsay. Its derived noun, again identical, נחש (nahash) means divination or enchantment.
Either this same verb נחש (nahash), or an identical other one, also appears to have described the production of bronze. It's not used as such in the Bible but the following derivations are: Noun נחשת (nehoshet) refers to copper or bronze, or items made from bronze. Adjective נחוש (nahush) means bronze. And noun נחושה (nehusha) or נחשה (nehusha) means copper or bronze.
Salman=prevent people from becoming your enemies
The general meaning of the graceful verb שלם (shalem) is that of wholeness, completeness or "unbrokenness" (and see for the opposite the verb רעע, ra'a). Our verb is used to characterize the uncut stones of the altar (Deuteronomy 27:6) and the temple (1 Kings 6:7). It tells of a "full" or perhaps "righteous" wage (Ruth 2:12), and the entirety of a population (Amos 1:6). It also tells of "full" and just weights, which are God's delight (Deuteronomy 25:15 and Proverbs 11:1), and of "whole" hearts devoted to the Lord (1 Kings 8:61). This verb may even denote the completeness of sin (Genesis 15:16), and in some rare cases it may denote friendship (Jeremiah 20:10, Psalm 41:10).
In the Hebrew language it's quite simple to indicate not only a condition (like shalem), but also the means to get there (to "shalemize"). The usage of this "shalemize" form in Scriptures is quite revealing. Wholeness is achieved or restored most often by some kind of restitutory payment or covenant: God pays a man according to his work (Job 34:11), but the wicked borrows and does not pay back (Psalm 37:21).
The owner of an accidentally killed ox is paid restitution (Exodus 21:36); oil is sold to pay off a debt (2 Kings 4:7); and the Gibeonites swindle Joshua into making a covenant with them (Joshua 10:1). Likewise, shalem is used when vows are to be paid to the Most High, or when days of mourning are to be completed (Isaiah 60:20), and ties in directly to the Messiah and his salvific work (Joel 2:25).
The derivatives of this verb are:
The famous masculine noun שלום (shalom), meaning peace (Isaiah 32:17). Peace in the Bible doesn't just indicate a warless state, but rather a state of completeness and harmony or rather un-dividedness. It also covers completeness (Jeremiah 13:19), prosperity (Genesis 43:27), health and safety (Psalm 38:4).
The masculine noun שלם (shelem) peace offering or a sacrifice for alliance or friendship (Amos 5:22, Exodus 24:5).
The denominative verb שלם (shalam), meaning to be in a covenant of peace (Job 22:21, Isaiah 42:19).
The adjective שלם (shalem), meaning perfect, whole, complete, safe (Genesis 15:16, 33:18, 34:21).
The masculine noun שלם (shillem), meaning recompense (occurs only in Deuteronomy 32:35).
The masculine noun שלמן (shalmon), meaning bribe or reward. This noun only occurs in plural and only in Isaiah 1:23.
The masculine noun שלום (shillum) also spelled שלם (shillum), meaning recompense or reward (Isaiah 34:8, Micah 7:3).
The feminine noun שלמה (shilluma), meaning reward (Psalm 91:8 only).
Peace and how to make it
Some of the nouns derived from this verb may be construed to literally mean "peace-maker," but that requires some additional considerations. Peace — defined as the absence of conflict or discord — may be achieved in several ways:
By suppressing certain elements of society, particularly those elements that cause trouble to the ruling elite. That's not what this root means.
By suppressing certain elements in people's personal mentality, convictions or behavior. That's also not what this root means.
By achieving such a level of understanding of irreconcilable elements that these can be understood and joined in, as well as given the opportunity to derive their identity from, a unified theory or system of definition. This process requires no censoring and demonstrates all elements to be most intimately related to the identity of the whole. The key-word of this process is relationship. That's what this root means.
In Hebrew, peace-making means whole-making, and not warm-fuzzy-deny-your-concerns-and-stop-being-difficult-making. Hebrew peace-making requires the effortful acquisition of intimate knowledge of one's opponent, and since in Hebrew love-making is pretty much the same as knowing someone (the verb ידע, yada', means both to know and to have sex; it's this verb that's used in Genesis 4:1 to explain how Adam and Eve came up with Cain), the command to "love your enemy" (Matthew 5:44) has not a lick to do with placidly suffering abuse and trying to conjure up lofty feelings for the brute who's mistreating you, and everything with studying your enemy until you know enough about him to either appreciate his motives (and behave in such a compatible way that he stops assaulting you) or else blow him out of the water by being superior.
When Jesus says, "blessed are the peace-makers" (Matthew 5:9), he does not refer to those people who insist we should all assume a state of blissful indifference, but rather those people who grab the bull by the horns and stare deep into his eyes and pick his brain with an axe.
Making peace starts with making a relationship with your enemy, and it results in getting to know your enemy (which in turn makes the chance excellent that at some point your enemy will stop being your enemy).
Boaz= by the means of strength of character, through right action
Prefix ב (be) means in, within or by means of.
The verb עזז ('azaz) means to be strong. Adjective עז ('az) means strong, mighty or fierce and adjective עזוז ('izzuz) means mighty or powerful. Nouns עז ('oz) and עזוז ('ezuz) mean strength, might or fierceness.
Noun עזניה ('ozniya) denotes some kind of bird of prey (this word may actually be a convenient import from another language) and noun עז ('ez) denotes a she-goat (this word may actually derive from a verb that means to be wayward or perhaps strong-headed).
Verb עוז ('uz) means to bring into refuge or to seek safety. Noun מעוז (ma'oz) describes a place or agent of safety.
Obed=hire experts
The verb עבד ('abad) means to work or serve, and the noun עבד ('ebed) denotes someone who works: from a slave to a hired expert. The Greek equivalent of this noun is δουλος (doulos).
Jesse=in the purifying light, men who are enlightened not weak
The verb אנש ('anash) appears to emphasize the weakness of the human individual and mankind's consequent tendency to clan up and have strength in numbers first and then in social stratification. It either means to be weak or even to be sick, or it swings the other way and means to be friendly and social. It yields the important noun אנוש ('enosh), man or human male individual who is weak yet social.
In the Bible, societies are feminine (and maternal) and although some scholars insist on a whole other but identical root, the noun אשה ('isha) means woman or wife. And again perhaps from a whole other root or perhaps the same one, the noun איש ('ish) means man, or rather man of; man in some specific function such as "man of war" or "man of the earth." It's also the common word for husband.
Since societies form around central fires (or the "purifying light" of wisdom, which is where the metaphor comes from), the noun אש ('esh), fire, may also derive from this verb.
David= and achieve unity with the love bringer. This is the way to the revelations.
The root ידד (yadad) has to do with love, and that mostly in the affectionate, physical sense. Adjective ידיד (yadid) means beloved or lovely. Noun ידידות (yedidot) means love, as in "a song of love" and noun ידידות (yedidut), meaning love in the sense of beloved one.
Curiously, an identical verb ידד (yadad II) means to cast a lot and instead of being kin to the previous, it appears to be related to the verb ידה (yada), which originally meant to cast but which evolved to mean to praise.
That our root has to do with physical fondling and love-making is demonstrated by the verb דדה (dada), which means to move slowly. Noun דד (dad) denotes a women's nipple or breast specifically as object of one's husband's interest.
Unused verb דוד (dwd) probably meant to gently swing, dandle, fondle. Noun דוד (dod) or דד (dod) means beloved or loved one, and may also describe one's uncle. The feminine version, דודה (doda), means aunt. Noun דודי (duday) literally means a "love-bringer" and describes a mandrake. Noun דוד (dud) refers to a kind of pot or jar (perhaps one that was rocked or stirred?).
It may or may not be that the noun יד (yad), meaning hand, also has something to do with this root.
The verb דוה (dawa) means to be ill. Noun דוי (deway) means illness. Adjectives דוה (daweh) and דוי (dawway) mean faint. Noun מדוה (madweh) means disease.
This core meaning of this verb probably has to do with a flowing of fluids, and the observation that "someone was ill" literally conveyed that "someone had the flows." The noun דיו (deyo) means ink, which at first glance appears to be due to the fluidic nature of ink. But ink was hardly the only fluid, and this word appears to rather stem from the notion that a solitary human is woefully weak and man's strength lies in his network, which in turn is strengthened both by correspondence and by the preservation of man's collective wisdom in his library.
This curiously connects writing to menstruating (literally "the flow"), which in turn relates the need for written revelation to mankind's failure to conceive; two issues which will both be remedied when the Word is fully revealed within mankind.
Once again, the Torah is telling us to employ experts in government to ensure the Spirit of God has a proper place to roost.

David's Campbell Fortess
The details were vague, but the story itself was too interesting to ignore. It had come from David Campbell in Colbert, Oklahoma, who claimed to have spoken with an old-timer possessing knowledge of some ancient stone tablets he'd found in a cave. The tablets, containing a strange script, had been discovered near a collection of bones belonging to what the elderly man referred to as "little people."
Campbell, a writer and amateur archaeologist, couldn't help but investigate. He and his wife, Sue, went to the home of the elderly man, dubiously named "Mr. Self," and inquired about the find. Unfortunately, the elder denied any knowledge of the tablets or skeletons. His granddaughter did, however, point the couple to a few local sites where they might have a look for artifacts.
On their own, the Campbells hiked through the trees in search of anything out of the ordinary. They never found any trace of the tablets or the remains mentioned to them, but they did stumble across a collection of rather interesting stones. Though somewhat worse for wear, the unnatural formations were composed of concentric layers of hardened minerals. The dense black stones, some rectangular and others more amorphous, were all fitted tightly together and appeared to look like cells in a honeycomb.
David recalled accounts of ancient miners who had worked in the area, and thought that he and his wife might very well have discovered the charred remains of an old smelting furnace. The striations in the stones, he believed, were due to repeated and intense heating and cooling. His research revealed prehistoric copper and iron furnaces that had been discovered in Ohio, Georgia, Virginia, New Mexico, and Arizona, and he believed that this was of similar construction. David was familiar with the story of a sixteenth-century Spanish expedition that had traveled as far as eastern Oklahoma in search of this mythical Seven Cities of Gold. He theorized that he and his wife might have stumbled across a fortress and gold-smelting furnace that once stood as one of those fabled seven cities.
Since then, other formations similar to the Campbells' discovery have been found, one about two hundred miles to the northeast in Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas. Often to as "carpet rock," such formations are regarded as a natural phenomenon resulting from the fracturing and erosion of sandstone and the influence of quartz and oxidizing iron.
David Campbell's discovery gained intrigue, however, after a comparable site was located near the first, this time allegedly featuring symbols carved into the rock. Investigators began to excavate the site, but it was quickly shut down, bulldozed, and buried, reportedly by government officials. According to someone close to the family that owned the land, the family was told to forget what they saw and were warned not to let anyone else dig there.
The story results in a whole new wormy can of questions that, unfortunately, will probably never be answered.

Big Dumb Tour 2024: Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol Live @ The Earl
Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol (RBBP) is a rock/doom wop/groove metal/heavy metal/metal/party metal trio from Austin, Texas. RBBP consists of Leo Lydon (vocals/guitar), Sean St. Germain (drums), and Aaron Metzdorf (bass/backing vocals). RBBP has released three (3) LPs, four (4) singles/EPs, two (2) compilations, and one (1) cassette. Their latest release is entitled Big Dumb Riffs, and I am stoked for this new release to arrive in the mail so I can add it to my RBBP collection. I randomly stumbled upon RBBP one day scrolling through Bandcamp and came across their album, Burger Babes… From Outer Space! Then a few years later, I was surprised that they were announced on the Shaky Knees Music Festival lineup in 2022 among some other wicked bands/artists.
My first time seeing RBBP at Shaky Knees was all that I expected. Loud, heavy, fun, energetic, and full of big dumb riffs. Just the way I like it. This tour stop on the Big Dumb Tour 2024 was also full of meaty big dumb riffs, but this time RBBP gets to play The Earl in the East Atlanta Village on Flat Shoals Rd. One of my favorite smaller venues in Atlanta is The Earl because it is so intimate, and you can get up close and personal with your favorite artist/band while they perform. When RBBP announced the Big Dumb Tour 2024 via their socials, I was ready to get another opportunity to see them perform again but this time with local Atlanta favorites NAW and Pretty Please as opening support at The Earl.
Starting this evening’s festivities was the Atlanta band Pretty Please. Pretty Please is a three (3) piece rock/grunge/noise rock band from Atlanta, GA. Pretty Please was formed as a band in 2012 and consists of Robee Whitmire (guitar/vocals), Brian Martinez (bass), and David Bair (drums). I think the best way to describe Pretty Please is by comparing their earsplitting sound to (the) Melvins, Whores., and very early Nirvana. Also, I think that when you attend a show featuring Pretty Please (or any band on this bill), it is safe to say that you should wear some ear protection because it gets LOUD! That is exactly how we like it. Loud and crunchy. Pretty Please was the perfect choice to start this evening with their deafening and vivacious set of songs from their five (5) LP discography. I cannot wait to check Pretty Please out again at a future show, and you should also. Check out the setlist from Pretty Please below:
· “Vulsella”
· “Lowered Expectations”
· “Wormy”
· “X-Mas box”
· “White Castle”
· “Rock is Dad”
· “It Pays to Complain”
· “Brick Shithead”
You can support and listen to Pretty Please over on their Official Bandcamp page today.
NAW is a four (4) piece noise rock/post-hardcore/noise metal/grunge/rock band from Atlanta, GA. NAW consists of Amanda Sherman (vocals), Jared Singleton (guitar), Kevin Stokes (drums), and Dave Sherman (bass). I did not know what to expect from either NAW or Pretty Please, as I wanted to be surprised with both bands especially since they were Atlanta artists. NAW came onstage to many people in the crowd screaming their names, so I knew something special was about to transpire. Within the first few minutes of their set, I knew why the crowd was going berserk while they were taking the stage. NAW’s raw energy and passion while performing are quite evident and unbridled. Like Pretty Please, I was blown away by NAW’s intense set with some crowd interaction by Amanda sprinkled in for good measure.
The most random part of this evening came from the fact that Dave Sherman recognized me from my stint working at Sam Goody in the Augusta Mall in Augusta, GA. many moons ago. It makes me happy knowing that music can bring people together and over time they can reconnect. Music makes the world a much better and happier place. You can see NAW’s setlist from this evening’s show below:
· “You’re a Coward and This World Will Remain Unchanged Without You”
· “Weed Them and Reap”
· “Meat”
· “I Against I” (Bad Brains cover)
· “Null”
· “Ugly”
· “Cope Atypical”
Head to NAW’s Official Bandcamp page or their linktr.ee/nawatlanta and show them some love!
When it came time for RBBP to take the stage, you could feel the excitement with many folks in the crowd. I overheard some people talking about the previous times seeing them perform live and how they were stoked for this evening. Once Leo had added his setlist to the stage, I was over the moon to see four songs that I hoped they would play made this evening’s setlist. And two of the songs on my list kicked off their unforgettable set. I highly recommend seeing RBBP do their thing if they come to your favorite venue if you like your music thunderous and full of big dumb riffs. Check out this wicked setlist from RBBP from The Earl (04/20/2024) in Atlanta, GA below:
· “I’m the Fucking Man”
· “1-800-Eat Shit”
· “Body Bag”
· “Peanut Butter Snack Sticks”
· “Whip It Around”
· “Blue Collar Man”
· “It’s A Jar”
· “The Worm”
· “Sister Militia”
· “Fly Super Glide”
· “Shoo-in”
· “Baby Man”
· “Gravy”
