'Blazing Saddles' Movie and 4K Review
The following review was written by Ultimate Rabbit correspondent, Tony Farinella. When it comes to comedy, itâs all a matter of opinion. Comedy, even more than film criticism, is subjective. For example, Iâm not an Adam Sandler fan and I find his films terribly unfunny, but there is a reason why his films keep getting released by studios. There is really no right or wrong when it comes toâŚ

Remembering British film director and writer Sir Alan Parker CBE, who passed away July 31st, 2020, aged 76.
Born to a working class family in Islington, North London he made his early reputation as a pioneer of creativity in television advertising. He formed a creative partnership with David Puttnam and went on to become one of his generationâs most accomplished film directors.
He directed Jack Rosenthalâs television play, The Evacuees, for the BBC (BAFTA and International Emmy), and his first international cinema success was Bugsy Malone (1976), a musical gangster pastiche featuring a cast of children, including Jodie Foster, Scott Baio, Andrew Paul (The Bill), Bonnie Langford and an uncredited Phil Daniels. He said that he wrote Bugsy Malone out of frustration, as his work was constantly being rejected on the grounds of being 'too parochial'.
He went on to create a commercially successful, diverse and at times controversial body of work, including Midnight Express (written by Oliver Stone: they didnât get on), Fame, Pink Floyd-The Wall, Mississippi Burning, The Commitments, Evita and Angela's Ashes. His final feature film was The Life of David Gale in 2003.
According to his official website;
"...In all, his films have won nineteen BAFTA awards, ten Golden Globes and ten Oscars...In January 1998, Parker took up his post as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the British Film Institute and in August, 1999 he was appointed first Chairman of the UK Film Council; a position he held for five years...In November, 1995, Parker was awarded with a CBE by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the British film industry and he received a knighthood in 2002. He is also an Officier des Arts et des Lettres, awarded by the French Government..."
He was also fascinating to listen to on the subject of the film industry generally, and gave a number of entertainingly grumpy interviews over the years. In the mid 1980s, his Thames TV documentary, A Turnip Headâs Guide to the British Film Industry, which according to his own website âlambasted the British film establishment and film criticsâ, seemed to upset just about everyone but won the British Press Guild award for the yearâs best documentary.
He was interviewed by Warner Brothers executives as a potential director for the first Harry Potter, however during a teleconference (from his kitchen table at home) didnât seem to express enough interest or gratitude at being asked. When a Warner exec told him that lots of directors would just love to do it, Parker said, 'Well go and ask them, then', and that was the end of that.
In conversation with David Puttnam for a BFI function, Alan Parker explained why he gave up making films, and talked a little about his art and drawing.
"âŚIâm out of it, Iâve had enough, I think itâs time for someone else to do it. I get more pleasure out of doing my artâŚIâve been directing since I was 24, and every day was a battle, every day it was difficult, whether youâre fighting the producer who has opinions that you donât agree with, the studios or whoever it is, because film, unlike art, pure art, film is hugely expensive, and the moment it gets expensive, you have people you have to serveâŚIâve been punching out, all my lifeâŚto fight for the workâŚfor our right to make our movie, the way we want to do it, and thatâs hugely difficult, because it seems that youâre forever punching out. There comes a time, when you think, I donât want to do thatâŚI showed (a friend) one of my art works, and he said, whoâs your audience here? Because thatâs what film people think. I said the audience is me, and thatâs all I care about, if someone likes my art, fine, if they donât, fineâŚIf they donât like my movies, I want to kill âemâŚ"
He was Michael Parkinson's first guest on Desert Island Discs in 1986, (a great interview) and featured once again 14 years later talking to Sue Lawley.

Let's give this show more attention, shall we?
Here's a damn solid amount of all the different kinds of media that I like to think both can definitely fit well in and could legitimately share the same universe as what is in my opinion the best children's horror anthology series of all time and one of the best horror anthologies ever made in general, R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series, which you can both read and see below for yourself right about here:
First off, here's what I mean by including the show, in my mind every episode of the entire series (at least most of them which we'll immediately get to) are all set in the same universe as each other since none of them over-step each other. However, not all of them will be for the fact that they don't fit and they suck hard in terms of quality and I've narrowed it down to five exceptions with the following reasons.....
- Red Eye, because it never lives up to its potential and has a cartoonishly written bad mother who never gets her comeuppance.
- The fucking cheese puff one, because the episode is all around trash and everyone hates this one even the creators/showrunners themselves.
- The G rated Critters rip-off, because like I said it's a shitty Critters rip-off and also has an abusive asshole father who never gets his comeuppance at all somehow.
- Mrs. Worthington, because even though it has a great performance from Margot Kidder, it never lives up to its great premise and again has an asshole mother who never gets her comeuppance.
- The leprechaun one, because it's just plain ass and AGAIN has an asshole adult (in this case, grandfather) that never gets his comeuppance.
Other than those shitty five, every. single. episode. are all set in the same universe. All of them are in the same twisted world â the Lilly D. trilogy, Scary Mary, Flight, Dreamcatcher, Creature Feature, Swarmin' Norman, the Pumpkinhead duology, Long Live Rock and Roll (AKA Doom Metal) and so on, so forth.
Also, I'm making a big deal out of the adult assholes that never get what's coming to them in a HORROR ANTHOLOGY SHOW is because in this universe we're talking about, everything is fair. Doesn't matter how old you are, your gender, your race, if you're a bad person than you end up getting what you deserve.
Second, now for the actual shared universe â
⢠Michael Dougherty's Trick r Treat & Krampus
⢠Mark Waters' The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)
⢠Stephen Sommers' The Mummy (1999) & The Mummy Returns (2001)

Xavier: Renegade Angel #19: âDamnesia Youâ | April 10, 2009 - 12:15AM | S02E09
This was just so great, man. I loved this so much. I donât even want to review this all that much. Fuck it! I wonât! There have been a bunch of special episodes lately. The Racist one! The one-long-sketch one! This one! This one starts off like Damnesia Vu, with Xavier in the room with all them colored doors. Heâs in some kind of mind-palace, if youâll recall. In this one the doors lead to different viewer-submitted home-made versions of Xavier: Renegade Angel. Some of them are animated (both traditionally and not), and some of them are live-action, and some of them are a mix of both.Â
A lot of the people and voices and styles seem vaguely familiar, at least to me. David Dineen-Porter is a guy Iâve seen perform comedy, and he is way brilliant. I read something on Reddit saying one of the guyâs is shmorky. I donât actually know who shmorky is except for the fact that people say his name while grimacing and lowering their head in prayer. I googled it: it turns out he was involved in a âno buenoâ situation. AHHH!!!
The episode takes the fan submissions and lets them play, sometimes. Sometimes the editors remix the entities a bit, which is nice of them.
Rather than talk about the content of the episode I am just gonna say this: I got high as fuck before watching it because itâs snowing outside, and thatâs a good reason to use marijuana at 3PM. It probably helped me watch this three times, which I did. I watched it twice on the Adult Swim app, but the second time I pressed play was a mistake, and I just let it roll. âRoll that beautiful bean footageâ I should have said.
The third time I watched it on DVD because I couldnât identify the screengrab from shmorkyâs cartoon, which I wanted to identify out of morbid curiosity, and the Adult Swim Roku app sucks for if you want to pause the episode. It sucks if you want to watch the last ten seconds of the episode without the screen dimming and being covered up by a big thumbnail of the next show in the autoplay, even if the credits are rolling over the final moments of the story. It fucking blows.Â
I broke out the DVD just so I could pause it properly and read the names of the entries. I made a list of all of them here, because I donât think thereâs a list of them online anywhere, and that seems valuable, maybe.
The only other guy I actually remember here is David Dineen-Porter, who Iâve seen perform comedy and thought was brilliant. His IMDB shows that he wrote on the James Corden show. I hope he made an obscene amount of money and is currently buying lots of guns with it (I mean this nicely).Â
Also, I found a link to every entry on itâs own.Â

Also: Those CLOSING CREDITS! A friend of mine told me to look out for them, and I said "okay".
MAIL BAG:
the cinco brothers are electric. they should bring them back and let them tell more stories about their lives.
The Sinko Brothers are in jail for nasty crimes and I hope they stay there. This thought is crude. Shame on you

Owen's 39-ball century, which sets a new record, secures the Hurricanes' first Title of BBL
The Hobart Hurricanes won their first title in spectacular fashion, and Mitchell Owen, who had a boisterous Bellerive Oval crowd in the palm of his hands, finished a breakout season with the equally-fastest BBL century.
After Owen produced an innings for the ages, the Hurricanes easily achieved the highest chase in a BBL final, despite needing an apparently difficult 183 runs. He finished with 108 off 42, including 11 sixes, and achieved his century off 39 balls in 10 overs.
Hurricanes won by seven wickets with 35 balls remaining thanks to Ben McDermott and Matthew Wade.
It was a letdown for Thunder, who got off to a strong start with to a 97-run opening partnership between Jason Sangha and captain David Warner before being held back by quicks Riley Meredith and Nathan Ellis.
Less than six months after his lifelong leadership ban was lifted, Warner failed to lead his team to victory.
Owen decimates Thunder
According to ESPNcricinfo's predictor, Thunder had a 61% chance of winning as the Hurricanes began their pursuit. After Owen's whirlwind, Hurricanes quickly became the overwhelming favorites. Owen scored 58 off 18 balls with six incredible sixes and five boundaries as the Hurricanes were 74 for 0 after four overs.
It was a brilliant move to move seam bowling all-rounder Owen from middle-lower order to opener. Owen supported his winning strategy of swinging hard and slamming the ball over unlucky fielders, saving his best for last.
Owen did not have stage fright after hitting successive boundaries in an opening over that yielded 23 runs and blasting a fast Nathan McAndrew over deep midwicket for six.
Warner went back to using left-arm spinner Tom Andrews, who was always dependable, but Owen was unfazed and hit a massive six over deep midwicket. After that, he kept hammering speedy Wes Agar as he quickly reached his half-century off 16 balls, which is the third-fastest in tournament history.
Even once the fielding limits were relaxed, he persisted in his attack without any pause. Owen eyed the fastest BBL century, which Craig Simmons scored in 2014, as ecstatic supporters chanted his name. Although he was unable to break it, he lapped up the plaudits and matched the long-standing mark to receive a standing ovation. In the eleventh over, Owen eventually fell, but the damage had already been done.
His bravery will undoubtedly garner widespread attention, from other franchise leagues to the national selectors.
Thunder's attack have no answers, Sangha tries his best
To be fair, Owen was in that zone and probably could have been stopped by several attacks. However, Thunder bowled consistently in his preferred hitting arc after getting off to a sloppy start.
They also struggled in the field, as Warner missed an opportunity to run out Owen at the bowler's end in the same sequence and Matthew Gilkes dropped opener Caleb Jewell at cover on 5.
Legspinner Tanveer Sangha was the only bright spot of the season; he bowled well after rejoining the team following an injury and ended the season impressively. To offer Thunder hope before he was overtaken by the Owen show, he claimed Jewell and Nikhil Chaudhary in the eighth over.
Ellis hauls Hurricanes back with superb slower deliveries
Though nothing worked in Thunder's first ten overs, the Hurricanes' varied assault has proved equally vital despite being overshadowed by their aggressive batting order. Warner and Sangha launched an avalanche at spinners Peter Hatzoglou and Chaudhary, who had been so frugal this season, while Meredith was counterattacked with the new ball.
The Hurricanes took advantage of the drinks break, and Ellis took it upon himself to get his team back into the game. He accomplished this by nicking off Warner and then using his signature slower delivery to totally fool Gilkes on the following ball.
Sam Billings cautiously drove just short of mid-off, giving Ellis a chance to clinch a hat-trick, but Ellis kept making an impression. In the fifteenth over, he made the right move by deploying Meredith, who clean bowled Billings with a brilliant yorker to support the decision. Ellis' outstanding performance in the final overs, which saw him dismiss Sangha with yet another slower delivery just before the power surge, demonstrated why he is right on the periphery of Australia's white-ball squads. After that, he gave up just six runs in the power surge's second over, finishing a fantastic season with 3 for 23 from 4 overs.
Sangha and Warner silence crowd initially
Warner was the center of attention, but at first Jason Sangha, who was just playing in his third BBL game of the season, took center stage. In the Challenger, he strengthened a depleted Thunder batting order by making an impact at the top of the order against the Sydney Sixers.
In the third over, Sangha pursued Meredith after a cautious start. In the qualifying final, Meredith had upset the Sixers' top order, but Sangha chose to fight fire with fire. He smashed a boundary through backward point after rocking on the back foot and hitting a six over deep square. For the second time this season, Thunder went through the powerplay without taking a wicket. After the fielding limits were relaxed, Warner joined in on Sangha's 30 of 40 runs. He was creative, sweeping seamer Chris Jordan over the gully after reverse lapping Hatzoglou. Warner's running was a standout; he moved between the wickets with a quickness that belied his advanced age.
As they advanced to refreshments with Thunder at 97 for 0, Warner and Sangha kept combining placement and power. However, Thunder's lack of batting depth was shown, and they were unable to leverage their platform. In the final over, Chris Green contributed two crucial boundaries, but it was eventually insufficient.

Tom Andrews was holding down an office job as a financial planner a month ago, but now he's planning a fairytale BBL title run with the Sydney Thunder alongside superstars David Warner and Sam Konstas. When Tasmania overlooked Andrews for a new contract after the 2022-23 summer, the Darwin-born allrounder accepted that his nine-year professional career was over.He had played 17 first-class matches in that time and 36 one-dayers - a career that may not have hit the highs of former Shield team-mates Travis Head or Adam Zampa, but one he knew he could be proud of."I got nine years on contract, so there wasn't anything in my mind about, 'What could have happened if I had've done this or I had've done that?'," the 30-year-old told AAP. "That sort of made it easier for me to move on."Andrews packed his bags and moved back to Adelaide, where he'd finished high school and spent six years playing for South Australia. He began studying to become a financial adviser and picked up a job in client services at McInerney Barratt Financial Solutions in the Adelaide CBD.For the first time since Andrews could remember, cricket took a back seat. He kept sending down his left-arm offies for grade-cricket side Port Adelaide, and agreed to help the Adelaide Strikers' academy team out when they needed him.University studies and full-time work meant even committing to train with the Strikers was a stretch. But Andrews managed to join his much younger teammates on a trip to Sydney for some friendly matches against Sixers and Thunder.A few days later, in mid-December, Andrews received a phone call from Thunder general manager Trent Copeland that changed everything. The injury-hit Thunder were in dire need of reinforcements."'Copes' just called me and he said 'Do you want to come along?'" Andrews said. "I had to quickly call my bosses and say, 'Can I have a bit of time off? It's probably going to be about a month'. I'm very lucky that they let me do that."Andrews hasn't looked back. He has taken the wickets of Australian white-ball international Aaron Hardie and New Zealand star Colin Munro across his six games so far."I felt like I've come in and played my role, which I was happy for," Andrews said.He now turns his attention to Friday's clash with Sixers at the SCG, where Thunder can likely confirm a double chance in the finals with victory. After he gets home from training for that match and the upcoming finals, Andrews will be hitting the books: the final year of his university studies began this week."I pretty much study the rest of the night, that's when I don't have cricket training and games on the weekend," he said.He knows all about unlikely success stories. His return to the cricket pitch is one. When Friday's game finishes, he'll turn his attention to helping write another as Thunder eye a second BBL title"It'd be amazing," Andrews said. "As much as we're savouring making finals, we have to put our mind on the next step, to not only make finals but hopefully try to win a couple."
