Something supremely interesting is that the Daughter is missing from the monuments of the Force Overlords, but suddenly this is the first time we've seen Morai in the series. It's not the first time Morai was seen with Ahsoka, she was there in Ahsoka's Rebels episodes and the finale of season 7 of The Clone Wars, so it's not that Morai was here the whole time, she's been with Ahsoka ever since the Daughter sacrificed her life to save Ahsoka, but what does it mean that the Daughter's statue isn't here? All of them died, the Daughter, the Father, the Son, they all died on Mortis, but there were other examples of their influence or remnants living on--all three of them appeared on the Lothal Jedi Temple mural. So why is the Daughter missing from this planet? Are they just stone statues? Is that half of her in the rocks there (it doesn't look like the Daughter's hair, though?) because it looks like it could be a broken statue, just random rocks, or maybe transformed into something else. Is it that these are connection points to something with the Overlords? Is that truly them, in some form? Clearly, this is why Baylan is here, possibly to try to destroy the Force all together or something, but what does it mean that the Daughter is missing from the mural here, a mural that looks like it would have had to be thousands of years old, but the Daughter died within Ahsoka's lifetime???

I always see the Ones of Mortis paralleled with Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka as the Father, Son and Daughter, respectively

but Obi-Wan, who lived and died in the Light as a Jedi, feels off as the Father, but seems perfect for the Daughter, who could not wield a weapon to kill her Brother even when she knew he must be stopped but was able to help others do the deed in her place

and while Anakin does make sense as the Son given the whole Vader situation, Ahsoka was actually touched by both the Son and the Daughter, killed and brought back to life through their respective power

it would feel more appropriate for her to be the Father, given her long-standing insistence that she is Not A Jedi but not Dark either

this would reinterpret Moirai's presence as the Daughter's spirit following the girl she saved, who reminds her of her Father, which is an interesting twist

realized i haven't posted this shin & baylan sketch i did few weeks ago... just a wholesome father&daughter moment 😊

wait one more thing. in previous episodes it's been clear that shin is fiercely loyal to baylan, and that she looks up to him and respects him immensely. but in this episode i feel like we saw that it goes beyond that. shin cares about him. and more than that, baylan cares about her too. i kept expecting him to chastise her or dismiss her when she asked questions about their goals or his past, but instead he indulged her and corrected her when he believed her to be wrong without malice. and like. shin's body language when she leaned into his space without fear. i think because baylan is a dark side user a lot of people assumed that their relationship was at worst abusive and at best cold. but there's real affection there! shin seemed at her most vulnerable around baylan in this episode - felt safe to be vulnerable. and baylan responded by putting his hand on her shoulder. this is such a departure from the usual dark side master/apprentice dynamic and it is fascinating

In Shades of Reason, the scene cuts off as the Death Watch soldiers run towards the throne. Had that scene continued, we would've seen Satine brush off their hands, stand up and walk out with them of her own accord. They didn't drag her off her throne or march her to that cell in cuffs, she got up and left on her own because she would not give them the satisfaction.

You have now infested my brain with "teen brother mother" anakin, like yes they gave a whole child to a man they thought was not yet mature enough to handle himself in the bigger picture and said "yea make it work bc we think you need to wisen up" AND they did this in the middle of a war mind you, then the mad lad with all his issues manages to actually do a mostly decent job about it all and yea I just think it's so interesting (also irrelevant but him having ahsoka 1000% in my mind is what made him not fear having a baby with padme in general, like he still had practical worries yes, bc hello theres a war n such. but he was excited to be a father in general, and I give that part to being with padme but also in part to having ahsoka first, he didnt mind being someones something and helping them along in life, he actually learned to love it)

thank you!! the circumstances around ahsoka are CRAZY and sooo underdiscussed and they shouldn’t be!! bc it’s fascinating and enriches a lot the themes of corruption and exploitation and moral rot imo. and it’s sooo interesting and honestly tragic that anakin managed to not continue The Cycle despite the circumstances bc it shows he was not in fact a lost cause from the start and like…agh!! much to think about!

and yeah i totally think she was a factor in his excitement for parenthood! it definitely adds to that retroactively (and also makes it make more sense to me personally but that’s a me problem bc parenthood scares me sooo bad and being excited about it breaks my brain. but i’m not anakin so shrug)
