So this was something I put up in the Darksiders discord and thought I'd share a bit of it with you guys here. I'm doing a bit of cooking here: I'm thinking of reworking this concept from another fandom I was doing it for and instead make it a Darksiders villainous au. Cause who doesn't want the four in their Nephilim/villain era? haha. I'm still tinkering with the story a bit but I'm kind of thinking it's a bit of a fantastical roman empire/Olympus aesthetic? But the story takes place that the Nephilim lost the war of Eden so the humans (which are more like gods and goddesses) and the four did not become the Horsemen.
In the temple guarded by her majesty’s moonlight, you slumber soundly. The woods creak and moan with the open breeze sweeping through the pine canopy, pillars of pearly stone shimmer and shine under the powerful, pale rays of night.
Moon and Mother watch over you, her sleeping beauty of this world, a much beloved child she sees fit to only be graced with happiness and never be touched by pain or corruption.
In conjunction, there is darkness to match the light, at times to best it. A devouring and ravenous beast, its villain counterpart that takes the name of Wolf. A tarnished variant of a moniker now since taken. Stolen from him.
____ had always envied the silver queen. Renowned as a stature of grace and love, adored by her worshippers. Where her temples were treasured and praised with gifted offerings left at the foot of her divine pedestal, his temples resided in caves marked in voided pockets of emptiness. Outcast priests vying for his audience perform rites of ancient black magics and light candles to illuminate the obsidian ruins of his long-desolated empire.
There is only one thing he seeks to see the queen become unraveled, to see her poise stumble and watch the creed of her pious nation fall as his own did.
To gain the upper hand in this battle where middleground shades fade in the blur between. And how would he achieve this? Why, by invoking you through your dreams like he always does, a sanctum that hides and resides a power he can do as he pleases with. How he can craft the most wicked of nightmares from the purest of dreams — and yours cause a delicious hunger to burn him from within, his cock strained in the confines of his loins as he devises and desires.
Now, he moves between the marble pillars as a swift shadow momentarily passing over you. He invades the sanctity of your bedchambers located in a tower cast high towards the heavens. Your body is the focal point of a picturesque landscape, the widely cushioned bed draped in a balanced hue of darkened silvers that glow and pulsate in the moonlight, the almost transparent adornment of your white dress serves as little protection for your modesty from his wandering eyes. He pulls you with masterful ease of a puppet on his strings through the fabrication of your dream, leisurely he stalks forward. He twists and turns your slumbering reality into his darkest vision. A fantasy all his own. One that you cannot deny.
Released from your lungs is a sigh on your whispered breath and ____ feels himself stir, the bulge of his aroused cock making itself evident as his hands, clawed with adept knives of a hunter, move with a minstrel’s lead to a rhythm that strokes you with a phantom touch.
Your legs shift and rub together, your hips moving to rotate in a slow grind upon nothing, much to the disappointed whine you make in your sleep. Dreams of innocent tender are defiled by the honey of temptation. You whimper softly, growing restless as your body becomes infected with this need that pools a moistened glaze between your thighs, clenching them tightly together.
His fingers flick with a snaking tsk of his tongue, summoning his power to ensnare you further and driving your legs to part under his will. Like an angelic cord plucked within your throat, you gasp and the pinkish bow of his lips pinch open, mouth dry in his desire for you. You beg for this impurity to stop, to release you. ____ does not let you go, he refutes your internal denial, lusting for what comes after: your inevitable acceptance. Your submittance to his divinity that shall wrack you most uncontrollably.
The high and revealing slits that part your dress open so intimately at the thighs move in thinned fannings across your skin with tantalising display, hiding you from him. In your dreams, you answer to a voice steeped in mystery that calls your name. In the labyrinth of the dark woods, you are lost and only he can serve as your guide. He has broken in your shyness, a coy game that earns your compliance.
From the mists, he offers you an inviting grasp with claws that promise to harm your skin with the most sensual scars and callous palms that speak of undeniable pleasures to caress, hold and strangle you.

[Review] Darksiders III (PS4)
Tumblr media
Great-siders.
After the development of Darksiders II, Vigil Games shut down, tied up in the bankruptcy of THQ. A successor studio emerged in the form of Gunfire Games, whose first task was the next-gen port/remaster of DS2. After a few original titles they then pitched THQ’s successor THQ Nordic on a true sequel. With a slight shift in both development staff and the game’s genre and inspirations, I reckon they finally nailed it.
While the first two games combined Zelda’s puzzling and dungeoneering with character action combat, this one sits firmly at the feet of From Software’s Soulsborne games. The combat is now deliberate and punishing with an increased importance on dodging and countering, albeit more fast-paced and flashy. The “soul retrieval” mechanic, the exploration/shortcut/checkpoint loop, and the upgrade economy are also familiar. Meanwhile puzzles and platforming are mixed in, in much the same way as Respawn’s Jedi: Fallen Order handled things, and with similar success (despite much less budget, I’m sure).
Tumblr media
Fury is even lighter on her feet than Death, springing around with her signature whip and double-jumping by default. But the whip can transform, and the new elemental mode system enables both new weapon types and movement abilities to find new paths and hidden goodies in the sprawling, inter-connected game world. I favoured the Flame Hollow for its triple-jump and quick claws (each of the four modes, unlocked gradually over the game, has a default weapon type and a second one found in a DLC zone which expands on the modes’ puzzle potential).
Tumblr media
The writing and story in these games has been so inconsistent that I had to look into the situation. Comics writers Joe Madureira and Joe Kelly were responsible for the undercooked first game, with THQ ringers Paul DeMeo and David Slagle brought in to script the second with positive results, while Madureira presumably oversaw things to some extent as studio creative director. With Madureira not in the picture anymore—although he has relatives credited on this game and Genesis—the story duties were outsourced to Man of Action (co-founded by the same Joe Kelly), the creators of Ben 10 and other children’s cartoons and comics. They are capable of stories pitched a little older though, as evidenced here.
Tumblr media
Fury is a fun protagonist, a hotheaded and aloof firebrand who actually has an arc and becomes more reflective and purposeful by the end. She plays off a female equivalent to Mark Hamill’s Watcher character from the first game, who seemingly simps for Fury until her sudden but inevitable betrayal. Ulthane the ogre-man also returns from the first game as a protector of humanity, among other decently well-drawn side characters and series mainstay Vulgrim the mercantile demon, who acts as your bonfire proxy. The villainous faction are chaotic personifications of the Seven Deadly Sins, a trite concept but with some fun designs. However...
The story frustrated me in its scope, as AGAIN the whole plot has been set up as a prequel, which makes three entire games (including Genesis) which have refused to resolve a now thirteen-year cliffhanger! A successor studio returning to the property only to kick the can down the road yet further was underwhelming to say the least, and while I think the writing and even voice acting is the best it’s been, I can’t help but feel deflated that ultimately this game does little for the overall story other than establish what Fury (and Strife, shh) was doing during the same exact timeframe. The game even ends with almost the exact same post-credits scene that Darksiders II did. It’s actually kind of funny in retrospect, and the annoyance comes only from my own expectations, but I’m not too out of line here am I?
Tumblr media
At least they do some cool things within that context, like giving humanity a role in the cosmology beyond hapless victims, letting Fury confront the Council, giving her some pathos with the death of her horse (which also neatly does away with that gameplay mechanic to suit the structure of the game world this time around). I appreciated the improvement on the series’ track record on female characters, with more prominent women this time. The setting of this brutalised Earth twisted by mystic forces is also done well, and looks great.
Tumblr media
While I find certain story choices baffling, I like that DS3 is doing its own thing to some extent and that thing works. The only joy I got out of combat in the first game was knocking fools into pits, the second game was mostly swapping between light and heavy attacks for me, but here at last I found truly engaging dynamics. They’ve ditched what didn’t work from the last games, rethought things, and the product is all the better for it. Oh, and the Void DLC is a worthwhile addition but the combat arena one was boring and pointless.

So I've seen some reylos defend Kylo Ren's redemption arc because they say that we should be more open to characters getting redeemed in stories. It made me wonder, what do you think defines a good redemption arc and which characters are allowed to be redeemed?
That is a really complicated question.
Redemption arcs are always personalize to the character.  A childhood bully is going to have a very different kind of redemption arc to a war criminal.
I do think there is a way to reform most characters, but in order to make it satisfying the character themselves has to be interesting.  Reforming a Saturday morning, purely evil villain doesn’t work unless you put in the leg work to make them more nuanced.
I think when people say they’re tired of reforming villains, it all comes down to the writers not putting the leg work to make the villains nuanced characters.  They just slapped on a tragic backstory and called it a day, not taking into account how their actions have effected the world and other characters.  It sends a message to the audience that no matter how much a person has hurt you, so long as they say they’re sorry, you should forgive them, which is a dangerous lesson.  You’re not required to forgive people.  And you’re especially not required to forgive people if they don’t make any real effort to make up for the pain they’ve caused you.
Tumblr media
As for Kylo Ren specifically, his redemption was doomed to fail from the word go.
It is very obvious from the first moment that he takes off his helmet, that Abrams is going for a Zuko style redemption arc.  He’s a character who we see making bad decisions and are supposed to be rooting for him to wake up and realize he’s going down a dark path.
But, here’s the problem.
We don’t know who Ben Solo is.  With Darth Vader, we are told that Anakin Skywalker was once a kind and powerful Jedi.  We then get the Prequels and The Clone Wars to expand on who he was before.  In Avatar: The Last Airbender, we get “The Storm” which shows Zuko being a wide-eyed child who is willing to stand up for others.
We never get to meet Ben Solo.  We don’t know who he was as a Jedi.  We’re never told what kind of student he was.  We don’t meet any former friends.  We have nothing.  The only reason we’re rooting for Ben to come back to the light is because we don’t want Kylo Ren ruining the happy ending of the characters we do care about, namely Luke, Leia, and Han.  And that’s not enough reason to care.
We also never see why he went to the dark side.  We are told Luke felt darkness rising in him, but we’re never shown what exactly that darkness was.  All we know is that there was some darkness in Ben, Luke tried to kill him, and then Ben was like “well, guess I’m evil now”.  And I don’t want to hear any of you say, “well in the novelization” or “in the comic” or “if you listen to the commentary” or any of that bullshit.  We are looking at the movies and movies alone.  And in the movies, we don’t get any motivation as to why Ben fell to the dark side and without the insight into why he’s evil, there is no solid foundation on which to reverse it.
With Darth Vader, he turned to the darkside in a last ditch attempt to save his wife.  And when everyone he had known was dead, all he had was Palpatine.  So, his redemption comes with saving his son’s life.
With Zuko, we see how messed up his childhood is.  His father burned his face off and banished him on a fool’s errand.  We see that the Firelord has no love for Zuko, so his redemption comes only after Zuko realizes this and knows he has to make it right.
Ben doesn’t get anything, which leads me to a key point in what redemption arcs always need; suffering.
We need to see these characters atone for their actions.
For Zuko, it’s renouncing his throne and going to help the Avatar, which include a number of episodes with individual characters of the squad allowing time for him to bond with each of them.  Not to mention his years of exile, face burning, and just getting his ass kicked by the world in general.
Darth Vader’s redemption comes at the cost of his life.  There was no other way he could be redeemed after killing so many.
Now some of you may be saying, “but Ben died to save Rey doesn’t that mean he suffered?” To which I say; no.
Zuko had to go through seasons of suffering before realizing the error of his ways and then fighting to change it.  Darth Vader was turned into a monster before finding his humanity again and coming back to the light.
Ben has been large and in charge of the First Order.  We never see him really suffer at the hands of Snoke or anyone else.  And he changes his mind after one two sentence conversation with his ghost dad.  Again, since we don’t know what turned him to the darkside in the first place, his moment of revelation of the evil that he’s done never hits home.
His dying and apparent love for Rey comes out of fucking no where, with no tie to his redemption or anything else.
His redemption arc is completely empty, void of any meaning. It is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
And if you don’t believe me Reylo shippers who I am sure have read every word of this post, I leave you with this little test.
Picture, in your mind, Danny DeVito.
Tumblr media
Now, picture Danny DeVito, playing Kylo Ren, including that final kiss at the end of The Rise of Skywalker.
Does Kylo Ren’s redemption arc feel narratively satisfying now?

Paint it red (Dick Grayson x Reader)
✾ @riseofnightwing's request: dick sees his darkside again (just like with robin) after the vilain almost kill the reader. gar or rachel tries to tell him she's gonna be fine a so he can stop punching the villain, but his dark side don't allow him to because she's what matters the most to him, love of his life and she tried to protect him in this mission, that's why the villain got her.
✾ A/N: Hope you like it! I don't know how I feel about this one yet, so feel free to ask me to change it if you didn't enjoy.
✾ Disclaimer: violence, but I really don't find it very graphic. also, an unhealthy superhero behavior (smh Batman legacy).
Tumblr media
Ever since his parents were killed in front of his eyes, there was so much anger inside of Dick Grayson. It left the last flying Grayson with nothing but empty hands trying to hold on to something that had already left. He found a sick sense of relief in brutality, even though he was disgusted by his own acts sometimes. Wearing a cape and calling it justice didn't change what Bruce would never admit; everything Batman and Robin were was just an echo of their deepest unsolved dilemmas.
He was willing to control himself. Dick had been trying to do that even before he'd met you, Kory, Rachel, and Gar. At some point, it became easier; especially with his Nightwing persona coming up. Things seemed to be slowly finding their spaces to fit in, but tonight, it all blew up. It was worse than anyone there would expect.
The punches didn't stop after the man in Dick's hands passed out. His knuckles were drowning in blood and bruised from so many hits, while the other hand remained holding the guy's shirt; white fingertips pressed against each other so hard that would concern any doctor about his bloodstream. The circus boy couldn't stop himself. He needed to protect you. He had to protect you. He would always protect you. No one in his life could go again. Not you. Not because of him.
"Dick," Kory said with authority obvious in her voice. She wasn't well-acquainted with the earthlings' necessity of hiding during battles yet. Made up name or birth one, after all, didn't seem to matter. Grayson looked like a painter, too immersed in painting his masterpiece to care about what happened around him. He just needed to keep getting red paint to finish his art. "Dick, stop!"
"Nightwing, he already passed out," Gar tried, his voice hesitant, almost trembling as he glared at his leader punching an unconscious man. He had never seen Dick this mad. "Dude..."
"Please stop!" Now it was Rachel. She was still too inexperienced to try stopping Grayson with her powers. The risk of hurting him was not worth being taken. Still, he kept his mission to hurt. Dick didn't seem to hear anyone, and he in fact didn't. From his perspective, anything outside his unilateral fight was just a noise, like an old television. "Kory!"
"Dick, enough," the Tamaranean said again, walking close to him and holding his hand before he could mangle the man's face more. Finally he seemed to come back earth. Breathlessly, he glanced at Kory. "Let him go."
Grayson placed his eyes on the man, fury filling his bones again, almost pushing him forward once more. Yet Kory's hand wrapped around his wrist somehow brought him back into reality, and in reality, Rachel and Gar's innocent eyes were wide and full of horror. God, he felt like a monster.
He looked at the floor, blood spread over the wet floor, mixed with sweat and water. Water. . . Was it raining? Fuck.
"Dick, you are crying." Rachel's voice was soft, careful even. Kory let go of his arm, and Dick looked at them in confusion. Crying? He wiped away his tears, ashamed of his small collapse. At least (Y/N) hadn't seen how violent he was capable of being. You had joined the team before he became Nightwing-- you didn't know how angry he could get. Of course, he had told you about his past, but Dick was scared seeing it was too much. Rachel and Gar's gaze on him had already changed, and they had seen him like this before. "Dick? Are you okay?"
(Y/N). He needed to see her now. Without any further warming, he just walked away from the Titans, quick footsteps towards the car. Dick needed to check if you were okay. You needed to be okay. He couldn't lose you. Oh God, not you.
"(Y/N)!" he exclaimed, opening the car door to see you, all curled up and aware. You were safe. That man would never dare to touch you again.
"Hey, you. Seems like I saved your ass, damsel in distress." You offered him a playful smirk, like you usually did to tease him. "Can you believe that idiot got me from behind while I kicked his partner? From behind! Be decent and actually fight me if you want to kill me next time."
"Don't joke about that, babe." His words were gentle, and then his arms were wrapped around you. The flashes of seeing you falling on the floor with your head bleeding and not opening your eyes were slowly replaced by the smell of your shampoo, which took him back to long, comfortable bathtub moments with you. You were in his life, you were alive, and you were held by him. You were even making sarcastic comments and obviously annoyed by your aggressor's cowardice. You were okay. "I was so scared of losing you."
Your annoyed moan interrupted him. "Dick, I think I broke my arm. Can you--"
"Yeah, of course. I'm sorry." Dick pulled away from you but remained close. "Is your head all right? Which arm is hurting?"
Kory sighed, watching the scene. As happy as she was for you and Grayson, his behavior was still worrying. It's been long since Dick showed his buried violence. On Tamaran, that wouldn't be a problem; they were raised was warriors and fought combatants as such. Still, earth was different, and Dick had already told her about his uncontrollable anger.
"We need to help him," Rachel said, catching the alien's attention. "I don't think (Y/N) saw what happened, but she could help, too."
"Maybe we should call a therapist." The two females looked at Gar with eyebrows raised. That was obviously the right option, but which health professional would understand a superhero's problem? Even if they did, the trouble with secret names was still there. "What? It helps. He could go as Nightwing or Dick and replace the hero stuff with detective stuff. I don't know."
"Yeah, we will see about that," Kory replied, a smile on her lips as she glanced at the car again. You were now calling them to come close.
"I will always protect you, okay?" The Titans could hear Dick saying that as they stepped in your direction. You replied to your boyfriend with a smile, pecking his lips briefly.
"I know that, but I think I protected you tonight, circus boy."
Hopefully, Kory thought, you would help him too. After all, if there was an interesting concept that humans have, it is the 'love of life'. You were the love of Dick's life, if someone could help him, that would be you.

help me suss out what are the thematic similarities between rey/blake/danvers that lead dudebros to hit them all with the same tedious copy/paste criticisms ("no personality" "mary sue" no 'consequences') despite their differences. the temptation to go "its just that they're all strong female characters" is there, but surely theres room for a deep-dive analysis of what exactly they share in a meta, narrative sense that gets CERTAIN PEOPLE so triggered.
...see, I was gonna say “Sorry, it’s just because they’re all female characters”, but I had a bit of a lightbulb moment.
All of these characters suffer from abuse from their villains, and manage to fight back without the help of others, specifically the male characters they pal around with
Rey undergoes capture and then has her brain invaded by Kylo in the first film, followed by calls of “I know what’s best for you” in the climax of TFA and throughout TLJ. Kylo spends most of TLJ outright gaslighting Rey. In TFA, she successfully fights back against the brain invasion, escapes capture on her own merits, and doesn’t even entertain the idea of training with Kylo. Even in TLJ, which I will admit I don’t like, she refuses to turn over to the darkside for him. Finn helps her over the course of TFA, but her doesn’t save her from Kylo.
Same with Carol and Yon-Rogg. He spent a good six years gaslighting her, making her think her strengths were weaknesses. He manipulates her into fighting on his side of a war. She spends the movie unlearning the lies he taught her, and in the end uses her powers to defeat him, because she was always more powerful than her was. Fury, once again, helps throughout this, but he doesn’t save her at any point.
And with Blake, it’s the exact same thing. She suffered from abuse at the hands of Adam, she broke away from him on her own and destroyed him politically at the Fall of Haven. Sun helped, but never actually saved her. Yes, Adam’s final defeat comes at the hands of both Blake and Yang, but Yang isn’t a male hero swooping in to save a female character, she’s another woman who’s suffered at Adam’s hands and they make a point of defeating him together, not one saving the other.
So I think the connection is that these are all female characters who save themselves from abusive villains, rather than that abuse being used as something a male character has to save them from, as it often is.

who would you say is more of a disaster family? the horsemen of the apocalypse or the bat family? also which members of each family would get along with the other the best you think?
Thanks for your ask,conrad6136, and I’m sorry it took me so long to get to it.
Who is the biggerdisaster fam—the Horsemen or the Bats? You know, I was going to say “hands downthe horsemen, of course—they are even ready to maim and murder each other”,buthonestly, the more I thought about it, the more I came to doubt that. In theend, I realized they are really on two opposite sides of a spectrum:
The Horsemen are morefam than disaster and the Bats are more disaster than fam.
Because let’s face it,there are two parts to a disaster family—the disaster, aka the individualmembers being deeply flawed people who interact with each other in frequentlyunhealthy ways, and the family, aka the unshakeable bonds that still hold themtogether and sit at the core of their relationships, no matter what. From hereon out, there be spoilers for all the Darksiders media (games, novel, comics, you name it) and Batfam comics of any continuity.
Let’s start with thedisasters. Almost everyone in camp Bats has issues up the wazoo:
Bruce is, at best, adeeply traumatized, obsessive perfectionist with a heart of gold and a flairfor the dramatic, and while being Batman has allowed him to help many people,it’s often been to the detriment of his own health (physically and mentally)and that of his loved ones (ranging from being emotionally distant and lackingto outright beating the crap out of his kids).
Dick, depending on whichcanon you’re looking at (Pre-Crisis, Post-Crisis, New52, Rebirth) might seemlike the most well-adjusted one, but he is capable of being anywhere fromtone-deaf to downright cruel to the people closest to him.
Jason started out as atraumatized kid without sufficient therapy, was killed, resurrected, went downsome really dark paths, and was overwhelmingly met with next to no compassionby his family upon his return. Whenever the writers are not choosing to ignorebasically all his history with them, his relationship with the family is shakyat best and murderous at worst.
Tim, depending on canon,is either grossly sexist and entitled, constantly over-worked andsleep-deprived, or both.
Cassandra was raised tobe a living weapon and it left her with a severe disability, suicidalideations, and a deep identity crisis. On the bright side, she never wanted to murderany of them.
Damian was raised to be aliving weapon and it left him with severe socialization problems, an incrediblesense of entitlement, and an identity crisis. Also, he was ready to murderalmost everyone in that family in the beginning.
Stephanie (nottechnically adopted or anything, but fuck it, I’m counting her) had a villainfor a dad and Tim for a boyfriend, and has mostly been disregarded and/ordismissed by everyone in the family. Honestly surprised she does not want tomurder them.
Barbara and Duke… arehonestly two people who seem incredibly balanced and well-adjusted in spite ofthe awful shit they went through, so kudos.
As for the horsemen:
Death is suffering fromsevere PTSD over having had to slaughter almost all his brothers and sisters atEden in the name of the balance, even if his PTSD does not present in thetypical way people associate with PTSD. He had also done a whole lot of fuckedup shit even before Eden, including crafting a bunch of WMDs out of the livingbodies of an entire sapient species. Once chopped off War’s arm when Warrefused to be reasoned with and in another instance implemented a plan that heknew was going to get War killed without telling anyone. And then promptlyswept it under the rug. Generally does not like to hold himself accountable toanyone but himself and can be a truly arrogant bastard.
Fury is a ball of ragewho hates everything and everyone, has a fuse shorter than the wick of abirthday cake candle, laughs at seeing her brother War chained and imprisonedand talks trash about Death and Strife, too. Turns out to loathe herself justas much as everyone else and only admits so after she really, really gets putthrough the emotional wringer.
Strife is a living murdermachine, who freely admits that he loves fighting and killing, but is alsoreally upset about having had to kill almost his entire family at Eden. Questionseverything and everyone and will 100% pick a fight with you if given thechance. Once threatened to kill War (that being the alternative to Deathchopping off War’s arm). Has also done some truly fucked up shit that he hastrouble talking about even to his brothers, though in contrast to Death, atleast he’s trying.
War… is actually themost balanced one of the four, but god help you if you push his berserkbuttons, because he will chop you up within the blink of an eye. What can Isay? All four of them need anger management therapy.
So that’s the disasterside. But on the other hand, we have family and this is where the horsemen aresimply much more consistent, imo.
We are talking thingshere like Strife promising War to always have his back, even if the Councilwere to order him to kill War like he killed his brothers and sisters at Eden.
We are talking Warpromising to do the same.
We are talking Strifeopening up to War about some of the atrocities he committed, even just alittle, and War respecting his boundaries where he draws them.
We are talking Deathbeing willing to sacrifice the souls of all his slain siblings and himself, just to save War, whom he does not even know to be innocent (all the signspoint to him being guilty, but Death’s faith in his brother is so strong herefuses to believe it right down to his last second).
We are talking Furyaccepting the lessons of humility she gets from Strife with a smile in the end.
We are talking Fury usingher last moments on Earth to try and secure help for War, whom she hadinitially believed guilty of bringing about the apocalypse.
We are talking War askingabout where his siblings are the moment he arrives on Earth.
We are talking Warultimately reacting to Fury’s scorn by warning her of the conspiracy against them, trying to keep her safe.
We are talking War havingsuch unshakeable faith in his last three siblings that he knows, without ashadow of a doubt, that they will ride with him against Heaven and Hell and theCharred Council and onto Oblivion.
We are talking thehorsemen, despite all their flaws and the many ways in which they clash withone another and even hurt one another (physically and emotionally), bandingtogether and supporting each other when the chips are down, because at the endof the day, they are family and they trust each other with their lives.
Where, pray tell, do youfind that in the Batfam? Where was that unshakeable faith, that bandingtogether and supporting each other, when Bruce was framed for murder? WhenJason returned to Gotham as a villain, twisted by the Lazarus Pit and trauma ofhis death and return? When Cass was brainwashed by Deathstroke? When Stephanieaccidentally started an unsolvable gang war because she was missing crucialinformation that had been deliberately kept from her? When Bruce beat the crapout of his kids in Rebirth? When he took Jason back to the place of his deathin a deliberate attempt to retraumatize him in the New 52?
I know the batfamcharacters have had their fair share of heartwarming family moments, especiallybetween certain characters (e. g. Dick and Tim, Dick and Damian, Tim and Cass,Barb and Cass, Dick and Barb), but at the end of the day there have been soooomany instances where they could have really needed each others’ compassion andsupport and there was just… no-one… there. At all.
That’s why, in the end, Ithink the Horsemen are more fam than disaster and the Bats are more disasterthan fam.
P.S.: Almost forgot thesecond part of your question, so here goes:
Death: gets along bestwith Bruce—the emotional repression, the untreated PTSD, the jerkish habit ofGoing It Alone At All Costs™…
Fury: gets along withabsolutely no-one, because she thinks they are all ridiculous, would get alonggreat with Damian if they could both get over their egos and has respect forCass
Strife: gets along bestwith Jason, hands-down, appreciates the flair for the dramatic and pragmaticand the sense of humor, can relate to being somewhat of the black sheep in thefamily, also: guns
War: gets along best withBarb because he is genuinely impressed by the fact that she can still kick assin spite of being in a wheel chair and has managed to weaponize her intellect tothe benefit of everyone

All The Game Announcements From The 2019 PC Gaming Show
The PC Gaming Show continues to run rather under the radar with not much hype, but there are always good nuggets of game announcements.
This is the same for the 2019 PC Gaming Show. A lot of good reveals, though most of the games are Epic Games Store exclusives- which is still a point of contention.
youtube
Evil Genius 2: World Domination
Rebellion’s take on a sequel to the evil lair builder and management gets shown for the first time. From the trailer, it still has the over-the-top cartoony aesthetic of the first, which should please many.
The game is slated for a release on Steam, with a chance to enter the beta by signing up at evilgeniusgame.com.
youtube
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
We got a glimpse of real gameplay footage for the long-anticipated RPG sequel. And it definitely shaping up to be a first-person RPG/immersive sim as the original was.
The trailer should set up what to expect now that you’re dead and a low-life Thinblood vampire. The Masquerade, the warring factions and some of the vampire powers you get to use are seen.
Not seen on the PC Gaming Show is the full gameplay trailer, seen here, which guides you on how a particular missions plays out- stealth, optional routes, gunplay, combat and dialogue trees.
Bloodlines 2 is still slated for a release in Q1 2020 on PS4, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Paradox Store) and Xbox One.
youtube
Starmancer
Billed as “Dwarf Fortress in space”, it’s a colony builder by developers Ominux and publishers Chucklefish.
It will be out on Steam.
youtube
Chivalry 2
The sequel to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare by Tom Banner Studios and published by Tripwire Interactive. The sequel will be an Epic Games Store timed exclusive, releasing in 2020.
youtube
Mosaic
A haunting-looking game with low-poly art by developers Kill Byte and publisher Raw Fury. It will be out later this year
The interesting-looking idle game Blipblop is out now on iOS and Android.
youtube
Midnight Ghost Hunt
Published by Coffee Stain Publishing and developed Vaulted Sky Games, it’s 4v4 of hunters versus Ghost, ala Prop Hunt, but with a twist.
The ghostly enemies can fight back a bit, but survive until midnight hits- 4 minutes of a match- and the tables are turned where the ghost will be hunting the ghost hunters.
It will be available on Steam.
youtube
Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy
A rougelite that your actions when exploring in the current run will impact the next. Published by Big Sugar, it’s a beautiful looking action RPG.
It will be out next year in 2020 for PC and consoles.
youtube
Conan Chop Chop
Conan the Barbarian is now a cute rougelike. First revealed on April 1st, now it has been re-revealed that it’s an actual game being in development.
youtube
The Last Oasis
A nomadic survival MMO where the lands are mostly dunes and you have big ships called Walkers as your vehicle. The game will be out on September 3rd on Steam.
youtube
Age Of Wonders Planetfall
The new, sci-fi entry to the 4X series gets a ridiculously fast-paced trailer. It also has Dinosaurs With Lasers.
It will be out on August 6th on PS4, PC (Steam, GOG), and Xbox One.
youtube
Zombie Army 4
The other, unannounced Rebellion game at E3 is another sequel to Zombie Army. The four-player co-op shooter where you shoot Nazi Zombies.
It will be out on PS4, PC (Epic Games Store) and Xbox One.
youtube
Remnant: From The Ashes
The new co-op shooter with procedural elements by Gunfire Games of Darksiders III fame.
It will be out on August 20th for the PS4, PC (Steam, Arc) and Xbox One.
youtube
Griftlands
First debuted at PC Gaming Show, Klei’s new RPG has now reworked as a rougelike deck builder game. And Alpha is coming on July 11 on the Epic Games Store.
youtube
Planet Zoo
The new park management sim game by Frontier Developments, which did Planet Coaster, gets its first gameplay trailer.
Just like modern zoos, the gameplay will have you learning more on how to conserve the actual animals. Fun gameplay and educational.
It will be out on November 5th on Steam.
youtube
Shenmue III
Not something you would expect to appear here. Yu Suzuki appeared on the PC Gaming Show stage briefly to show the new E3 trailer fo the long-awaited sequel.
It looks charmingly janky in some ways. The game is headed to Epic Games Store (and PS4) on November 19th.
youtube
Song Of Conquest
A Heroes Of Might And Magic-inspired RTS published by Coffee Stain. It will be out in late 2020.
youtube
Vermintide II Versus
The 4-player co-op game set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe is getting a PVP mode, and you get to play as the Skavens, naturally.
youtube
Per Aspera
Published by Raw Dury, this is a game about terraforming Mars so we can go live on the planet. A different take on what Survival Mars was.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey
Patrice Desilites was interviewed about his new game where you play as our ancestors 10 million years before, according to Darwin’s evolution theory. You have to survive and evolve the species that will later become humankind in the lush, dangerous jungle.
It will be out on the Epic Games Store first on August 27th.

Auto Chess
After a pretty normal Epic Games Store sizzle reel, Epic dropped a bomb by showing that Auto Chess is coming exclusively to the Epic Games Store. This is based on the Dota 2 mod, by the creators of the mod and built on Unreal Engine.
This is a big coup akin to.. Valve snatching Dota from Blizzard, which began as a Warcraft III mod.
youtube
Cris Tales
A JRPG by Columbian developers where you can see the past, present and future all at the same time.
youtube
Valfaris
Imagine Metroid, but heavy metal. The action-platformer is wearing its metal influences up their sleeves, with grotesque environments, punchy shooting and a headbanging soundtrack.
It will be out on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this year.
Borderlands 3
Another interview session. A few new tidbits were revealed:
Moze’s Iron Bear mech can have different weapons-unlock as her skill augments
Artifacts will adjust your movement ability like slides and jumps
Guardian System replaces Badass Ranks. It still has infinite progression but also unlocks cosmetics
Bosses have multiple phases, and a lot more of them
No confirmation of can you pet the gun
When asked about if Maya’s new partner is a Siren: “Fans are asking the right questions”
Duels are back
Weapons can be transferred between characters

Maneater
Tripwire’s “ShaRk-PG” showcases the main villain- the fisherman Scaly Pete. After the trailer, there was a lot of explanation on how you can evolve your shark to better and stronger.
youtube
  Terrarria
A new update is coming to Terraria. The trailer was not played in full on stream, but the one above should be the whole trailer. The update will appear this year.
youtube
Telling Lies
A new interactive by Sam Barlow of Her Story fame. It has familiar mechanics to what you see in Her Story of piecing together a story based on many jumbled up pieces of video footage.
You slowly learn new things and free to follow your curiosity. Oddly, it’s being billed as an “open world” game in this sense, where you get to see the 10 hours of video content in any order you like.
It will be out on Steam and is coming soon.
youtube
Warframe
As teased before, Digital Extreme’s free-to-play co-op shooter gets a new trailer on Warframe Empyrean, formerly known as Railjack. It’s a new space combat element where you and friends get your own spaceship- Railjack
The full reveal will be at the TennoCon keynote on July 6th. Watch the reveal on Twitch and you can get Nekros Prime for free.
youtube
Genesis Noir
An adventrure game about “stopping The Big Bang to save your love”. It’s a trippy exploration-focused game with surreal noir art.
youtube
El Hijo
Developed by Handy Games. Taking place in a spaghetti western backdrop, it’s a top-down stealth game where you as a kid have to find your mom again.
Baldur’s Gate III
Another interview and no new content outside the reveal trailer. However, there’s an announcement that a tabletop prequel to Baldur’s Gate III will be made available. This should help players catch up with the state of the world.
