Why did death come so easily to some? You’d never know. It wasn’t that you enjoyed it, no, you would never count yourself a sadist but it was that it didn’t bother you the way it did others. Soldiers came back from war with scars that ran unseen, medics returned from their chambers with tears on their cheeks and red-stained hands. Leaders were chosen because they could make the difficult choices and live with the consequences. You were chosen because your conscience never carried the weight of those choices. There was a freedom in that, a choice that let you swing the ax and watch the head roll before heaving it into a basket. This was the Queen’s justice, these people, these guilty few heralded by the booming voices of knights who’d make a fanfare for the crowd before you yourself dealt the necessary blow. Masked and unloved, the magistrates obscured identity so that you didn’t have to worry about recourse from the jilted crowd of those who loved the damned. One drink in, two, and then someone asked you if there was anything in the world you’d want. Anything you’d give your soul for, you laughed, because what kind of stupid question was that? Your ask was simple: you never wanted to face the Queen’s so-called justice.

I love show onlys being like suspicious of Verin for a second and then being like "no Verin can't be a darkfriend" and immediately dismissing their suspicion because its Verin and they love Verin

After all has been said and done, I feel super bad for Lady Anvaere Damodred. Lady thinks she’s played the absolute shit out of Daes Dae’mar to manuver her House into prominence again after “Uncle” ruined them, and she comes to find out that her dirty rotten offspring bargained with the fucking Dark to make it happen instead! All her effort, all her work, all the indignities she suffered, all her diligence, it just kind of breaks my heart, you know?

And now what is she left with? Surely Barthanes will be executed for being a Darkfriend, that’s what most nations do when they’re found - though I don’t know how his status as Queen Galldrian’s fiancé will affect that because she could be a Darkfriend, too! In Cairhien, you never know!

So yeah, my sympathies are with Lady Anvaere. (Plus she was so well done, gracious me.)

The fish wives are fine! Either that ending did not happen or it was all a planned thing for everyone to get stuck in THEIR nets. Whatever. Those are the only 2 options.

Still in all seriousness it was a planned thing between Moiraine and Siuan IMO for too many reasons. The delusion is real

Oh I have no doubt they'll be alright, nonny! Rafe Judkins is smart enough to know that if he was going to canonize Siuanraine, we wouldn't accept its mishandling. We're gonna be fine.

Personally though I do think that conflict was real, not planned. Of course, I do love the idea of them orchestrating a fake falling out! But it just doesn't peg me as something that wins them anything.

I think Siuan is so used to her and Moiraine being in agreement about how to handle the Dragon prophecies that she truly didn't expect for Moiraine to go rogue. The way I see it, Siuan sees two things: for one, Mo has been stilled. That is agony no matter how you slice it, and she's deadset on taking as much of the Dragon burden off of Moiraine's shoulders as she can so Mo has more of a chance to heal (remember, there's been a whopping two Aes Sedai who ever managed not to kill themselves after being stilled in the Tower's known history).

Secondly, she sees that the time of the Last Battle draws near, and Moiraine has been withholding information for the past six months and also very pointedly not tried to prepare Rand at all. Siuan is the Amyrlin Seat. She's made of strategy, and that is a bad one, whether it was her lover's choice or not. I think Siuan was certain that if she made a point of taking the burden off Moiraine's shoulders, she'd be met with acquiescence---perhaps even appreciation.

Watching the episode, I took Siuan's reaction to Rand having been released to be one of complete shock. I'm sure she expected stubbornness, but not outright double-crossing. That's why she made a point of chasing after them alone, with no guard. She felt betrayed.

Then she runs in to see Moiraine channeling. I'm sure she was floored, and this is why I think the theory that she suspected Moiraine of joining the Dark to hold weight. I mean, how bizarre from her perspective. Six months of correspondence, and Rand hasn't been trained even a little, and this alleged stilling was kept from her completely until Lan tattle-taled. That's outrageous, especially since it doesn't seem like Moiraine has ever been that dishonest with her before. And now it was apparently a complete lie? It shouldn't be possible. Unless of course Moiraine made an oath that supersedes her previous ones...

Which is why she forced her to close the Waygate. Twas a test. Once Moiraine obeys, you can see just how much Siuan regretted doing it. Her eyes well up immediately, like all she wants to do is apologize. Had Lanfear not walked in that very second, I'm sure she would have.

So, we'll just have to see how Siuan feels once she hears about the events of Falme, that Ishamael is dead, and that Alanna and Verin were Mo's accomplices. Hopefully she reacts well, or at least well enough to still want to talk it out with Moiraine when she gets the chance---and I think she will. This has been the burden that's ruined their lives for 20 years. She's not just gonna let that go.

So yeah, we'll be okay. We're just gonna need some medicine, perhaps an emergency operation. 😭

While I do have some problems with Seanchan, I’m actually grateful that Jordan introduced them to the series. It’s refreshing to see a horrible society which benefits from slavery and abuses its people not to working with the Dark One (they even fought on the opposite end on the final battle). It shows that not all evil people are linked and neither all of them have the same goals.

Still, those who benefit from Seanchan’s cruel practises are as bad as dark friends. Just a different type of awful.

Okay but the CLEVERNESS of using the little girl as the PoV for our first glance at the Dark Friend Social. The way it lets them drop hints while keeping everyone's identity obscured and hidden. The way it keeps from giving away to much information to quickly to the viewer. The way it lets us see the Shadow from an outsider perspective, and at the same time see the Shadow working it's tendrils to convert and twisted someone to their way of thinking.

HUGE wheel of time late-book spoilers ahead you have been warned but i loved the whole sequence of verin in the tower this episode like. obviously she sees right through sheriam's shitty lie and liandrin's tryhard coverup but then raising the issue of compulsion to her brown sister (i didn't get the name) to throw her off sheriam, as she's probably oathbound to do, while still putting her on alert to the black ajah in general?? that's my 4d-chess-playing bookworm grandma! i love her so much

Hi hello, about to go to bed thinking about the fact that they’ve already established that Liandrin is willing to use compulsion on high ranking Aes Sedai, the last time we saw her with Aes Sedai was when she was talking to Siuan, and Lanfear made sure she had nothing left to lose in Tar Valon

We're getting to see the different things the Dark One promised to each Darkfriend with the Liandrin and Suroth preview! They do not share the same vision at all and I love it!

For the most part I am supportive of changes wheel of time show has needed to make, and I do understand that it's not the most important part of the book by far,, but

Ingtar being a darkfriend but turning back to the light and no man can walk so long in the shadow that he cannot come again to the light is so important ✨ to me ✨
