+2 the coachman’s cart appears to be pulled by donkeys (this detail is only dark if you know what happens next)

+21 a bunch of children get turned into donkeys and sold as slaves

+22 in a moment of pure body horror lampwick gets transformed into donkey

+9 we don’t know what happens to the talking donkeys, and I don’t think we wanna know

+12 coachman gets away with turning kids into donkeys

+3 gepetto gets eaten by a whale

+4 gepetto just accepts starving 2 death

+3 monstro smashes his head into side of rock, even if that didn’t kill him it probably injured him and must’ve hurt like hell

+13 dark character: the coachman, dude likes to bait little boys onto his island so he can turn them into donkeys and sell them as slaves, absolutely disgusting human being

I don’t know what’s worse what the coachman actually does or what you THINK someone would be doing when they say that they like to collect “stupid little boys” and take them to a place called “pleasure island”

+3 pleasure island, the whole location gives me the creeps; either the island is the one committing acts of body horror on kids, or it’s getting used by some sicko so that he can use his evil demon powers to strip kids of their humanity…either way this island is worst than Epstein’s

Trivia time: Gideon was originally gonna have a lot of dialogue and be voiced by the legendary Mel Blanc but after the success of dopey from Snow White and the 7 dwarves they decided to make him mute

The Adventures of Mr. Hurty Fingy And His Trusty Pal Shaven Dawg Through The 9 Layers of Hell

Every now and then I'm reminded of this animated short that was featured on the Ice Age dvd we had when I was a kid. It was animated by Blue Sky, and it's called Bunny.

Watching it made me feel a bit disturbed and sad, but the ending always felt bitter sweet.

Warning, there is death in this, so if that's not something you can handle then I wouldn't recommend watching. But if you can handle it, then I'd recommend giving the short a watch.

It's an interesting and somewhat dark piece of children's media that I've never seen people talk about before, and I think it deserves to be remembered and discussed. The musical score is also worth mentioning.

This is definitely one of the first pieces of media to give me an existential crisis as a child, it's up there with Fleetwood Mac's Landslide on the list of things that made me confront my own mortality in elementary school.

There are is no spoken dialog in this short, and yet it helped me understand death in a way that words never did at an age before I lost anyone or anything.
