#dark bug type

I made a concept design for a Dark/Bug type Mega Yveltal as a possibility for Pokémon Legends: Z-A!

Now you may be wondering, why Bug? Yveltal is a Bird!

Well, if you check one of it’s dex entries,

Note the word choice of “Cocoon”. Now, I’m only looking at that direct word, not what it could possibly have been mistranslated from, and you know what cocoons are?

Usually they are a silky barrier created to house a larva undergoing metamorphosis! AKA, BUGS!

I haven’t noticed anyone else make this same thought process and found it interesting. I’ll insert my initial thought sketches below, I’ve got a Mega Xerneas idea in concept as well which I will digitise soon!

My personal favourite detail of this is turning the neck fur/feathers into a stylish swarm of flies! I thought it would be cool to also have it around the wrists, originally I was going to connect the cloud flies to the neck like chains, but I figured that’s be too complicated.

If anyone happens to know Gaismagorm from Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, I see the relationship between Mega Yveltal and its flies to be the same as Gaismagorm and the Qurio: The small flying things steal life force from other creatures, and then bring them back to the host creature. This would help make Yveltal’s destructive powers even MORE threatening as a mega!

Fakemon Challenge #10 - BEEZZARD (Dark/Bug) The Scavenger pokemon

It is based on the Vulture Bee or Carrion Bee, a type of bee that makes honey out of animal meat, and the Bearded Vulture or Lammergeier

This pokemon has a symbiotic relationship with BEEKREEPER.

BEEKREEPER makes its honey by consuming meat, and needs to keep consuming it in order to make more. BEEZZARD constantly looks for carrion and gives it to BEEKREEPER so they can make honey, and in exchange, BEEKREEPER allows BEEZZARD to eat the excess honey it produces. Sometimes a large hive of BEEZZARDs will form around a single BEEKREEPER, mimicking the relation between a Beekeeper and its bees.

What would you call the genre of 2010s-2020s TV shows which are:

stylistic, with cinematic transitions and colorful shots

kind of tonally YA adjacent but aimed at adults; snappy, irreverent, probably centering some amount of mystery or detective work

mildly goth/alternative aesthetic and tone

involve pursuit by some manner of Paranormal Agency with a 60s bureaucracy aesthetic, either time travel or something similar, and a range of superpowers

the/a villain is almost certainly a woman with piled up hair and a skirt suit who character design and affect wise is doing what Michelle Gomez did in Doctor Who. Separately, Michelle Gomez may or may not also be there.

have an ensemble cast of quirky, sarcastic and jaded characters, interacting with a rotating cast of similarly quirky side characters

often but not always a comic book adaptation; either way, involves a heightened reality which aims to be as 'comicsy' as possible while achieving emotional verisimilitude.

I'm reasonably certain this has to now count as a genre or at least a concrete aesthetic cause I can reel off so many of these. Off the top of my head; Dirk Gently, Doom Patrol, Umbrella Academy, Loki, and Dead Boy Detectives, just to start. I think weirdly tonally and aesthetically these shows owe a lot to Pushing Daisies.
