STEM DARK ACADEMIA

I'm a little upset at the lack of stem in dark academia, so here's my list of aesthetic science things, STEM ACADEMIA (dark edition)

• relating a little too much to the mad scientist trope (and telling everyone "no, no I would never do anything like that, I just want to help people" but like imagine if we could resurrect people)

• rereading Frankenstein every year, specifically in the month of october

• "why is STEAM a thing?? Art? who that?"

• minoring in classics because you still like mythology and history and reading

• finding the science in art (why things make you feel a certain way, how they do that, what effect they've had on health and medicine) and finding the art in science (isn't it incredible that dna knows how to tell plant cells to break down chlorophyll and this makes the gorgeous fall colors)

• reading every book that mentions at all a scientist or has a character who is interested in stem (they are few and far between)

• enjoying the structure of math and engineering but thriving off the chaos that is science

• where are the mad scientist women? I need this

• people being surprised when you tell them you're majoring in something "really science-y" after being an absolute bookworm and musician all throughout your childhood and having to defend what your heart desires (no? just me?)

• CARDIGANS are peak stem culture

• "why aren't you a doctor? why aren't you going to med school? why are you doing insert reasonable science degree here and not becoming a doctor? don't you want to help people?"

• wanting to go into genetics but wanting to go into botany but wanting to go into theoretical physics but wanting to go into astronomy but wanting to go into geology but wanting to go into chemical engineering but wanting to go into astrophysics but wanting to go into wildlife biology

• for some reason having a huge obsession with morals, ethics, and philosophy

• watching true crime just for the forensic bits

• watching mythbusters as a kid

• LISTENING TO TCHAIKOVSKY, BEETHOVEN, BACH, AND MOZART those are the stem classical musicians change my mind

• doing all your homework and frying your brain then getting to read a simple book that really refreshes you

• you had the astronomy and archaeology obsession as a kid

• listening to synth wave instrumentals

• MITOCHONDRIA IS THE POWERHOUSE OF THE CELL

• when people tell you that one cool science fact they learned and you try your hardest to encourage them but girl that wasn't even close to being correct

• ScienceDirect and PubMed are your go-to databases

• having lots of intrusive, existential thoughts that sometimes suffocate you, because you know better than most how much dark dna there is or how small we really are in the universe or knowing how much math explains and how little room there is for free will or thinking about how we are made up of mostly four types of atoms

• reading science or math textbooks for fun

• reading the fountainhead by ayn rand when you were way too young and didn't understand it but now parts of it emerge from the depths of your memory and you are struck by the power

• watching marvel and x-men and jurassic park just because

• reading sci-fi because it's the closest thing to real science in literature

• knowing a little too much about radiation poisoning and how to really dissolve a body in chemicals

• wearing white to make up for how little your professors make you wear lab coats

(sorry, I don't know that much about technology and I'm a literal grandpa when it comes to using it myself)

FYI these are all based on legit crushes i had on anime/game characters at some point in my life - see if you��ve watched the shows i’ve watched :) ILY I PROMISE I’M DOING MY BEST TO EAT THREE MEALS A DAY AND GET ADEQUATE SLEEP MWAH. also i went overboard and added an extra boy bc why not. Ushijima Wakatoshi

Ushijima definitely knows you’re into anime + games

Having visited your dorm room on multiple occasions he’s seen your extensive collection of manga, anime posters and you always seem to be playing on your switch whenever you have free time

Of course, he notices a significant portion of your collection is centered on male characters

And you’ve definitely mentioned a few games to him - Ikemen Sengoku, Code:Realize, Hakuouki (wow i’m really out here exposing myself) etc.

He doesn’t really mind though? Like - at the end of the day these are 2D men, whereas he is a very real boyfriend

At least he thinks he doesn’t mind

Recently, he notices that you seem to be on your phone a lot, and you seem to be texting the same group chat very often

He asks why and you laugh - it’s not actual text messages you’re just trying out a new otome/simulation game called Mystic Messenger. He finds the name silly but he just brushes it off he’s definitely J E A L O U S

Until one day he walks into your room while you’re calling one of your friends to freak out about that specific game

You sound kind of teary from outside the door “Oh MY GOD OH MY GOD I GOT THE GOOD ENDING WITH JUMIN!” and “[friend name] I THINK I CAN DIE HAPPY I’M MARRIED TO JUMIN HAN WHAT MORE DO I NEED IN LIFE” and “HE’S SO FREAKING ATTRACTIVE UGH I AM BLESSED”

He’s like who TF is Jumin and immediately bursts into your room looking pissed off

Poor babie is all like “you’re married?” and “if you had someone else you were interested in you should have told me.” “Who is this Jumin Han???” 🧐

Oh my god you start cackling, but you manage to tell him that NO you are not married and that Jumin Han is a fictional character from the game you’re playing

Ushijima looks confused after you explain - why would you find fictional men attractive when you’re already dating him?

Tendou almost dies laughing the next day when Ushijima tells him about what happened

Oikawa Tooru

Since practice finishes pretty late he usually goes to see you at your house at night, but tonight things wrapped up earlier - he’s excited to spend more time with you

You’ve finished up most of your homework so you’ve just been rewatching Attack on Titan since you’re super excited for the new season

You’re kinda distracted/have headphones on so you don’t hear your boyfriend knock on the front door. Your mom answers it and lets him in and he climbs the stairs

He can hear your fangirling (freaking out) over something as he walks towards your room

You jump in surprise when he opens the door, because you thought he would be a bit later but immediately release your pent up excitement

“Tooru just LOOK at him he’s such a bad ass like oh my gosh he literally has swords and he’s still running around slaying the MPs who have guns. God whenever he gets angry he looks so hot,” etc. etc.

You’re shoving your laptop in his face, showing him gifs and video of attack on titan, specifically the captain of the survey corps that you are obsessed with

Tooru gets it - for him its space, shitty alien films and astronomy. For you it’s video games and anime - or more specifically, handsome characters from said franchises

Even though he understand that it’s something you’re passionate about he still makes a whole show about whining how you’re in love with Levi Ackerman (lmao i still thirst over our favorite captain) instead of him

“y/n i’m taller than him! And more handsome! He has blood on him all the time! And he’s super annoying because he’s obsessed with cleaning.” *cue pouty Tooru*

You probably shouldn’t tell him that you are an avid follower of the levi x reader tag on tumblr

Tooru still somehow finds out you’re also reading reader insert fanfic and goes BERSERK with his pouting and whining - literally everyone and their mothers have heard his sob story about how “his darling y/n is leaving me for a short germaphobic asshole”

The rest of the team finds it hilarious - the end up pranking him by posting pictures of Levi in his school locker or texting them in the volleyball groupchat (Oikawa is Suffering™)

Makki and Mattsun get him a Levi keychain for his birthday and cackle when he chucks it violently into the nearest trash can

Miya Atsumu

Doesn’t really know you’re into anime/gaming at first

I don’t think that’s on purpose - Atsumu just has such a one track mind when it comes to volleyball and he’s always busy with practice

so he just kinda doesn’t really give all the anime merch in your room a second glance even though it’s a dead giveaway

I bet Atsumu secretly watches some superhero anime - probably shounen stuff like My Hero Academia, one punch man etc.

He probably starts to notice you’re into anime/games because you’ll play games on your phone/gaming device all the time

One day he notices you’re giggling + blushing while looking at your screen. He’s curious to he heads over to you when coach says they can have a break

Peeks over your shoulder because he wants to know what you’re playing - but instead he’s greeted by some 2D samurai guy called Harada Sanosuke asking you to marry him

“Huh, I didn’t know you were into this kinda stuff y/n” tries to sound playful but internally he is screaming / ?????? WOT I DIDN’T KNOW MY S/O WAS INTO OTOME GAMES

Atsumus pretty chill about it at first, he probably teases you a lot about playing the game but isn’t really bugged about it

“Maybe you should thirst over your boyfriend instead of a fictional character babe~”

I mean - he knows he’s attractive and why be jealous? You only really play the game when he’s busy and you don’t really let the game play seep into your dates/hangouts

But one time he walks in on you reading some ~spicy~ hakuouki x reader fanfic and he’s like are u serious

Like you were lowkey quiet screaming to yourself and muttering “omg omg omg” when he walked in and you definitely tried to close your laptop so he couldn’t see what was open in your browser

Too bad Atsumu has mad reflexes and manages to prevent you from making your computer go to sleep

Briefly skims whatever it was that you were reading and smirks at you

I get sleep drunk and stuff, I get weird when I'm sleep drunk. I have ( self diagnosed ) anxiety and anorexia. My anxiety means I panic and say stupid things and then I just can't do anything. Sometimes I can't control what I say or when I lie ( compulsive lying I think ) Daddy issues and a lot of my irl friends are hella toxic. I get burn out sometimes. I have a tendancy to overwork because we just love the feeling that you're never good enough. So I'm very on and off. I use this app as an escapism and coping method so... yeah- I always have a headache so I can be very cranky. I promise I'm not mean though! If I do something that upsets you just tell me!

I have a lot of gender dysphoria within me. If you want some come get it! I never really had gender euphoria so tell me what's it like? Half the time I have no idea what my gender is. Mind you it sucks. I'm going through a just confused, sad and lacking motivational episode. Just a very f- everyone time. I'm having troubles irl and that seriously impacts me here.

Marauders Era Ship

Request: I’m a 16 year old girl, I’m very introverted, but I love being around people I know and feel comfortable with. I love the stars, astronomy, planets, poetry, fantasy, reading and I’m a Ravenclaw. I guess that might be good to know hahhahah. I’m not really sure what else to say but if I had to use fictional characters to sum me up it would be Lorelai Gilmore, Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood and Jake Peralta. Sorry if that doesn’t help 😂 I’m 5’4, light brown curly hair, blue eyes and quite pale. Im also a big music lover, I’m in a band with my friends. You two would meet through Lily Evans, a class friend of your’s who you study with sometimes in the library after class. In fact, that’s where he would first see you. He went with James to go bother Lily and when you got there, all he could do was stare up at you.

He would be instantly be mesmerized your shimmering perfect curls and milk-white pale skin. Yet, it would be your sea glass blue eyes that would truly capture his affections. He wouldn’t know your name for a few weeks, so you would be “Ravenclaw Girl” in his mind.

After that day in the library, you’d be all he’d talk about to the Marauders. He would also pester Lily to learn more about you every chance he’d get. In addition, he would study extra hard in classes to impress you since you’re so passionate about school. It would also give him an excuse to study with you and Lily in the library after classes.

Eventually, the other Marauders would become so tired of hearing about you 24/7 that they’d beg him to ask you out. Plus, it’s very unlike Sirius to act so nervous about a girl. Once he learned from Lily that you liked poetry, he wrote a poem to ask you out.

So I like this girl,

with her hair in a curl,

She’s in a different house,

but boy does she look good in a blouse.

Her eyes are blue,

and it is a beautiful view,

All I can do is stare,

admiring her skin that is fair.

I know this poem is shit,

I’m not the smartest brit,

Please ignore that horrible trait,

because I would like to take you on a date.

It’s perhaps one of the worst poems you’ve ever read, but you couldn’t deny Sirius because his efforts were absolutely adorable.

In which Hannah and Amanda get lost in the woods and they totally don’t end up in awkward situations.

"Admit it," Hannah said, "we're lost."

"That's such a cliché line," Amanda retorted. "No imagination. Can't you spice it up a little?"

"How about this," Hannah said. "We're so far in these woods that the cops will never find your body after I bury you alive for getting us in this mess!"

"Ooh, a death threat," Amanda said, unfazed. "Very nice. But I know for a fact you'd never go to the trouble of digging a grave yourself. Too much dirt involved."

"Oh, I don't know. I might get my hands dirty just for you."

"That's dangerously close to flirting, Miss England."

Despite Amanda's bravado, Hannah was right: they were desperately, hopelessly lost. Who knew the woods around Luna Nova were so treacherous? It didn't help that it was pitch-black, even-the-moon-ain't-showin'-up dark outside. Amanda and Hannah only had themselves to blame. In one of their seemingly constant arguments they ended up challenging each other to a test of courage: journey deep into the woods at night and back out again together—running away meant an automatic loss. The plan had been to touch a particularly recognizable tree stump and then turn back... but they couldn't find the stump.

"How did you even get us this lost?" Hannah groaned. "All you had to do was walk in a straight line in and out!"

"You know me better than that," Amanda said. "I can't do anything straight. That's more your responsibility."

"If we relied on me, I'd have us walking in two different lines at the same time," Hannah replied.

"Right, right." Amanda said. She was still trying to get used to the fact that Hannah was bi. Not that there was anything to get used to. It's not like she had a reason to be acting differently around Hannah or anything. Knowing that Hannah was technically available to date didn't mean anything to her. Not that Hannah being bi meant that she was automatically available for Amanda to date. For all Amanda knew, Hannah wasn't even into Amanda's type. Not that Amanda had any interest in dating Hannah. Nope. Not at all. She definitely didn't spend any time thinking about that possibility.

"Are you listening to me, Amanda?" Hannah was almost yelling. "I said we should stay put until we figure out how to get out of here."

"Oh." Amanda was grateful the cover of darkness that would conceal her blush. What am I doing, get all lost in thought over Hannah, she berated herself. She plonked down on a fallen log and patted the spot next to her, inviting Hannah to join her.

"I'll pass," Hannah said. "Goodness knows what's on that log."

"Suit yourself. Any ideas how to get out of here, bossy pants?"

"One comes to mind," Hannah said. "How are your marks in astronomy class?"

"Dismal," Amanda answered. "Wait, abysmal. Which is worse?"

Hannah rolled her eyes. She should've known better. "Good thing one of us pays attention in class instead of making paper airplanes out of her worksheets."

"Sneer all you like, but when the Royal Paper Air Force hires me as it's top pilot and gives me tons of medals, you'll sooo jealous."

Hannah laughed, despite her annoyance with Amanda. "Royal, eh? Not American? You plan on staying in the UK?"

Amanda shrugged. "Well, England has its appeals." And wasn't that just the Freudian slip of the century.

Hannah coughed and shuffled awkwardly. And told herself not to read too much into that statement. "Um, anyway. We can figure out which direction we need to walk by using the stars."

"Just like sailors," Amanda said.

"Yeah. How did you know that?"

"I wanted to be a pirate when I was younger. Well, I kinda still do."

"Somehow I'm not surprised," Hannah said. "Give me a minute to check out the constellations and I'll be able to point us in the right direction."

"Thank fuck I'm stuck in the woods with you," Amanda said. "I mean—with an egghead like you." Nice save, she thought. What is wrong with me tonight?

It's not like Hannah was anything worth getting worked up about, or so Amanda told herself as she looked over her companion. She's so pale she practically glows in the dark, so who even cares that her skin is flawless? And her hair looks so dorky in that ponytail, it would look so much better if she let it down. And her attitude is almost as bad as mine, we're practically evenly matched. Then Amanda realized that even her insults were failing her. What's the opposite of a backhanded compliment?

Hannah clapped her hands together, startling Amanda. "I've got it. We went north and drifted east, so we just need to follow that star, going south-west."

"If you say so." Amanda hopped off the log and went to Hannah's side. "Lead the way, Magellan."

Hannah shifted awkwardly again. "Francis Drake would be a better reference," she said. "He was an English explorer. And a pirate."

"Do tell."

Whereas the journey into the forest was made in awkward silence punctuated by barbed comments, on the way back Hannah entertained Amanda with the exploits of Sir Francis Drake: his circumnavigation of the globe, his piracy in the Caribbean, his efforts against the Spanish Armada. Hannah grew more animated as the story went on, seemingly encouraged by Amanda's interest increased. Everything was going swimmingly.

Until they encountered complications.

Hannah stopped dead in her tracks. "My foot is stuck."

A tree root had ensnared Hannah. Quite intentionally, seeing as it was one of the mischievous mandrake trees that enjoyed trolling humans who wandered the forest. It was bad enough that they'd made hideous wailing sounds at the pair all night, now this?

"Frickin' mandrakes," Hannah said. "Can you hold your wand light down by my foot?"

"Why?" Amanda was feeling particularly self-conscious around Hannah and didn't want to get that close to her bare legs; the wand light would make it impossible for Hannah to miss the way Amanda had been looking at her all night.

"I can't use magic to coax the root off me and hold the light at the same time," Hannah said.

"What's the problem? I thought all bisexuals could dual-wield. Isn't that one of your class features?"

"Ha ha, very funny." In any other situation Hannah might've laughed for real. "I need my other hand to pull the root off my foot once I've charmed it. Get on your knees and help me out here."

Amanda felt a surge of feelings she didn't have time (namely private time) to address. She did as she was told and held her wand light near Hannah's trapped foot. Hannah kneeled down as well and used a spell to relax the root. As it loosened, Hannah tugged it away with her free hand.

Amanda didn't pay much attention to this process; she was far too distracted by her proximity to totally-not-worth-getting-worked-up-over Hannah. As she weren't so distracted, she might've noticed Hannah's hands trembling for similar reasons.

Hannah freed her foot and both girls stood up very quickly, eager to put some distance between them. They continued their walk in silence.

Until their next complication.

Their wand lights disappeared, snuffed out like a candle flame.

"What the hell?" Amanda yelled. "What now!?"

"We must be near a forest dragon nest," Hannah explained. "Dragons absorb magic energy, that must be why our wand lights went out."

"Thanks for the lecture, doc, but how are we going to find our way back now?"

"Slowly." Hannah was too nervous to say the next part, so she locked arms with Amanda without saying a word.

Big mistake.

"What are you doing!?" Amanda did not need this kind of pressure right now.

"We can't see anything without our wand lights!" Hannah said, her voice shrill all of a sudden. "If we're not careful, we'll get lost. We need to stick together."

"D-Do we need to stick this close?" It was important for Amanda to know; her heart was in danger of imploding.

"L-l-like you aren't loving this!" Hannah stuttered. "I-I-I bet this was your plan all along! You wanted me to cling to you, didn't you!?"

Amanda almost jumped out of her skin. It would've made for a great escape from this situation. "W-w-why would I want you clinging to me with those bony arms of yours!"

"My arms aren't bony! They're slender! We can't all have nice muscles like you!"

"What was that about my nice muscles?" Amanda wanted to know more about Hannah's opinions on her physical appearance, but something more pressing had just come up. "Wait, is that light?"

Amanda and Hannah's eyes were drawn to the tree line. They had made it back to the edge of the forest, and they could see lights coming from the windows of the school building.

"We made it back!" In her excitement, Hannah hugged Amanda. And immediately backed off out of embarrassment.

"Let's get out of here," Amanda said. "You can cling to me later."

Hannah made a strangled noise, but Amanda was already too far ahead of her to hear it. They emerged from the forest and started brushing themselves off and picking grass and other forest debris off their clothes.

"I guess we both lost, since we never made it to the stump," Amanda said.

Hannah made a noncommittal noise. "I wouldn't say that. It doesn't feel like a loss to me."

"I guess I did get something out of it." Amanda conceded. "I learned a bit about being lost in... a forest."

"What do you mean by that?" Hannah asked.

"Wouldn't you like to know." Amanda reached out and pulled a twig from Hannah's hair.

Amanda couldn't be sure because of the darkness, but she could've sworn a blush crept into that pale, glow-in-the-dark, flawless skin of Hannah's. "Like you have any secrets I'd like to know." Her voice wasn't the slightest bit convincing.

"Speaking of secrets," Amanda said, "let's tell the others that we actually made it."

"Let's definitely not mention the part where our wands went out."

"Yeah, that. Definitely that."

Oddly enough, neither of them waited to tell their roommates all about what happened when they were lost in the woods.

A/N: I was listening to “Closest I Get” by Katie Herzig, and this flashed in my head. I recommend listening to it while reading or after reading it?

He was her best friend.

The first moment her eyes met those ordinary green eyes and dopey freckled face, Uraraka hadn’t given it much thought. She was being nice.

He’d tripped over his own feet, and she’d stopped his descent without thinking. It wasn’t a big deal. Uraraka hadn’t thought much about seeing him again. There had to be at least five hundred students there to participate in the entrance test.

She was so focused on getting as many points as possible that she really hadn’t realized he was there until he stepped in to help her.

She’d been pinned by some debris; and instead of running like the other applicants, Midoriya had stepped up to help her. At the time, she wasn’t sure if her small act of kindness made him feel obligated to help her or if he was the type of person who would rip his heart out his chest for a stranger.

Uraraka only wished he’d done something to stop her descent.

She’d saved him from falling that day, the least he would do was let her go gently.

But he hadn’t.

“What did you get for number three?”

Uraraka blinked, eyes bleary as she looked at the green tuft of hair sitting next to her.

Pencil balanced between his lips, dark green eyes staring intently at the textbook in front of him. A serious scowl wrinkled his face as his fingers thumbed against his knee. “Did you finish number three?” he repeated, turning to glance at her.

“Oh,” she sighed, sitting up as she looked down at her empty page. Uraraka tilted her notebook toward her as she pretended to keep working. “I’m still on the second problem.” She would have been further along if she hadn’t been mapping constellations on his freckled cheeks.

Izuku Midoriya had unknowingly pulled her into his orbit.

That clumsy boy who’d nearly face planted in front of her a year ago had morphed into one of the top students in their class. He was everything she wanted to be as a hero.

Thoughtful.

Brave.

Intelligent.

Persistent.

Dedicated.

Uraraka spent countless hours contemplating his virtues and admiring his vices.

Selflessness.

Recklessness.

Of course, Midoriya’s vices were also a beautiful virtue that skyrocketed her admiration for him.

Her hand stilled as she finished writing the problem on her page. “Actually,” Uraraka glanced at him, setting her notebook in front of them on his red, white, and blue covers. “I think I’m having some trouble with this one.” She wasn’t. Balancing equations came easily to her.

Uraraka could do these problems in her sleep.

But…

“Sure,” Midoriya tilted his head, strands of his hair tickling the side of Uraraka’s face.

She inhaled slowly, savoring his natural earthy scent. While the other boys in reeked of cologne, Midoriya’s scent reminded her of the crisp air and fresh grass. It made her think of dewy mornings after a summer rainstorm.

Their knees brushed as he squeezed himself closer to her making her legs burn and her very aware they were doing homework alone in his room.

“Okay, so you start here with carbon...” he instructed as he began the problem. His handwriting was messy and frazzled as if his hands were trying to catch up with his thoughts.

She loved listening to him murmur to himself when his thoughts ran wild with theories and ideas. His shoulders would hunch and a finger would curl against his chin as his lips moved faster than anyone around him could comprehend.

“Then we need to move this.” But there were moments after he processed the seemingly neverending stream of information. His voice would be precise and focused. The low rumble of his voice vibrated through her body as Uraraka pretended to focus on the problem he was showing her.

Resting her hand underneath her chin and elbow to her knee, she leaned closer against him pretending she couldn’t see what he was doing. She watched as he patiently went through the equation with her, giving him a little nod when he’d look at her to make sure she was following.

“And that’s all there is to it,” Midoriya turned to face her, giving her a bright smile. “You got it?”

“Yeah,” Uraraka whispered, picking up her pencil as she moved to the next one. “I think I’m going to try number three now.”

“Okay,” he nodded, turning back to his own book. “Let me know if you need any help.”

Number three was easier than number two. “Thanks Deku.”

“Of course.”

A slow smile curled on her lips when he didn’t move away from her. Feeling brave, she curled her toes into his blanket and brought her knees in front of her as she placed her notebook in front of her. She began to write the next problem out, brown eyes watching carefully for a reaction to her proximity.

It was as if he hadn’t noticed her next to him. His pencil scratched busily in his notebook as he muttered to himself. Uraraka resisted the urge to trace the lines chiseled on his forehead from concentrating.

Inhaling sharply, she rested her head against his shoulder. “Thank you for helping me with my homework.” She carefully darted her eyes from him to her notebook as she looked for a reaction.

“It’s not a big deal.” A small smile curled on his face as he moved to the next problem. “You helped me with astronomy.”

“Oh.” Her ears reddened recalling the night they’d sat outside finding constellations for an assignment. “That was nothing.”

“No,” he paused, lowering his pencil turning to face her. Green eyes sparkled with mirth as a full-blown goofy grin crept to his lips. “You’re really good. I don’t think I would have passed that class without you.

Uraraka dipped her head down, biting her bottom lip as she felt a blush spread from her cheeks to the tips of her ears. Every time she looked into his, she was always astonished how truly green they were. She gave up trying to find the perfect way to describe that shade. “Oh, I’m sure you would have found a way.” she breathed softly, tracing emerald flecks around his pupils.

He chuckled, turning to face her. “Yeah, but you helped me so much,” Midoriya commented leaning in toward her.

Uraraka felt her breath catch. “I-” she stuttered, feeling her heartbeat nearly drowning out his voice. Her eyes drifted down to his lips as she licked her own readying herself for a moment she’d dreamed of. With a long sigh, her eyes lowered to little slivers.

His hand came to her shoulder. “Uraraka…”

Her eyes jolted open, looking at his warm expression.

“You’re a great friend.”

She felt her stomach drop, as she swallowed a lump embarrassment. “You’re a great friend-” Her voice cracked saying the word as she forced herself to smile through it. “Too Deku.”

“I don’t know what I’d do without you, Iida, and Todoroki,” he grinned, patting her shoulder affectionately.

He hadn’t noticed her leaning in for the kiss. “Yeah,” she whispered, vision blurring as tears began to cloud her vision. “We should-” Uraraka leaned away from him, forcing a little cough from her chest. “We should get dinner. Maybe text Iida and Todoroki and see if they wanna join us?”

“Yeah! We need a break.” Midoriya nodded, sliding off the bed and walking over to his desk to retrieve his phone.

Uraraka rested her head against the wall behind her as she willed her tears away. "Sounds good."
