Here’s a quick little Daniel/Jenson Tudor AU since part 2 of my Maxiel Renaissance AU is going to take another week because I found myself disliking how some parts were written when I was editing it

A daughter.

He gives birth to a daughter. A beautiful daughter he loves more than anything or anyone he has loved before. But the baby is a daughter and the King wants an heir. Not a female heir because he already has that in Mary, but a male heir – something his first wife couldn’t provide him and had hoped that Daniel could provide him.

“My Queen, you should be in bed,” his attendant says, running after Daniel as he gets ready to attend court.

Daniel cannot be abed. He cannot hide away in his rooms with only his daughter for company. He cannot show weakness. Not now when his position isn’t secured and courtiers whisper about the King’s desire for a son.

The King had married him for love. He had separated England from the Vatican for him. He had set aside a Spanish Princess for him. He had done all that for Daniel. For Daniel who is still young and has plenty childbearing years ahead of him. For Daniel who aroused both his body and mind.

Daniel is the Queen of England, the wife of King Jenson, the mother to his second daughter and future heirs. Daniel is who Jenson changed history and traditions for.

He will not hide. He will not cower. He will take his place by his King’s side, by his husband’s side with a crown atop his head and a smile on his lips.

“Help me dress,” he orders, “the King will take the throne soon.” There’s a red gown Jenson loves to see him in. It’s a deep red that Daniel didn’t often wear, preferring his favored dark blues and light greens. But every time Daniel wore it, Jenson was more amorous, more willing to listen to Daniel, just more everything.

His nether regions ache as the gown is pulled on and tightly laced. There is nothing he wants more than to rest. It had only been three days since he gave birth — it had been a long birth with Daniel’s screams echoing in the palace halls as his husband paced outside the bedchamber. “My necklace,” he asks. It’s a long string of pearls with a golden D hanging at the center. Daniel almost always wore that necklace. It had become a part of him once he’d married Jenson.

The crown is the last piece. He chooses one made of gold and pearls that rests in his curls. It is more extravagant than his daily headpieces. Heavier than them too. Daniel can already feel the ache he’s sure to experience in a few hours.

“I truly must ask you to refrain from-”

“I cannot rest in bed all day. Not anymore,” Daniel cuts him off. He had security when the child was still in his womb. They hadn’t known then that the babe was a girl instead of a boy. Jenson had wanted him to rest to ensure the safety of his unborn heir, for the health of the boy Jenson had desperately wanted since he became King.

The walk to the throne room is slow and tortuous. But Daniel keeps his head high with an easy smile on his lips. All around him courtiers stop and bow when they pass him, only to talk about his failures as Queen when they think he cannot hear them.

Jenson sits on the throne when Daniel enters, ready to begin the petitions. But all activity stops when Daniel is announced by a steward. Daniel ignores all of that as he makes his way toward Jenson, staring into the eyes of the man he had married. “My King,” Daniel says, curtsying when he is at the foot of the throne. “Apologies for being late,” he continues.

“There is no need, my love,” Jenson says. To his surprise, Jenson stands from his throne and takes a few steps down to stand in front of him. “You should be resting,” he says in a low whisper as he leans in for a kiss. Jenson had broken England from the Vatican for him, the court expected affection from them. Their love had changed the lives of all their people.

“I could not bear to be apart from you, husband dear,” Daniel says with a gentle smile, lying straight through his teeth. He wanted his daughter’s company, not his husband’s demanding gaze. But wants do not outweigh needs.

Daniel says nothing about the whispers he had heard. Of how Jenson didn’t entertain whores but noble ladies and lords in his bedchamber. Whores were of no threat to Daniel’s position, but noble ladies and lords? He was sure more than a handful wanted his crown for themselves. Daniel had ousted one Queen himself.

“Bring a chair for the Queen,” Jenson orders one of his men. It takes only a few minutes for a chair to be procured. “Rest, my love,” Jenson says, helping him sit in the chair before returning to the throne.

Daniel smiles up at Jenson.

In a few weeks, he’ll be okay to resume marital duties and give Jenson a son. Jenson may wander, but at the end of the day, he returns to Daniel.

He married Daniel.

He wanted Daniel.

I'm still figuring out what Daniel's going to end up like. For most of my world sacrifices (the last Pokemon left in the file before you reset the game), they remember dying and then being brought back when you recapture them. On my Soul Silver team, Daniel is still figuring it out. I realized that, because I caught him in the Slowpoke Well, he's been personally victimized by Team Rocket (in both game files), and I think he's more aware of that than he is of the entire world getting reset. We just finished up Team Rocket's siege of Goldenrod City, and that means we had the second battle with Proton, the Rocket Executive who was down there in the well cutting off tails. Daniel recognized him, and that was the most alert I think the kid's ever been. So that's why I decided he has the little growing-back tail nub. He feels pain on a delay but that doesn't mean he doesn't remember it. Some time soon I'll have to talk to him about how he experienced the file reset.

I included a little drawing of Daniel with Danson, a Bayleef, the starter from the original file. Daniel is named after that file's OT, and that file's Pokemon (there are only five of them) think of him as being their responsibility to protect. Those Pokemon are sitting in my Platinum cartridge until we beat the E4, and in the meanwhile, my current Soul Silver team thinks of Daniel as being their kid to raise. He has two families in two worlds who care about him. Maybe I'll transfer them back in so that Daniel can explore postgame Kanto with them?

(Side note, the starter from Edmond's original file is a Swampert named Edson, and the two don't really know how to feel about each other. That Emerald file was complete, as opposed to Daniel's Soul Silver which was abandoned after one badge. Edson's bond with his original trainer would be much stronger than anything he could form with some new legacy character I offer to him. Edmond doesn't like to think about it, and avoids being around Edson.)

Started watching A Man on the Inside and I just want to know what demon Mike Schur made a deal with because I'm already emotional about an old man losing the woman he loved for most of his life and having to try and find a way to live without her and I'm less than 10 minutes in.
