Bury Me Low Snippet 1
Watching as the robot president announced the Americube, Rylie sighed deeply. She had never been a real fan of the ROBOTUS project, but it wasn’t her place to voice her worries about a project that wasn’t hers. But now it was another mess to clean up with ghost powers and then cover up. Probably. Though, then that would lead to questions on where ROBOTUS went when she dealt with it…
While watching the office descend into chaos was kind of fun, it also hampered her own work. Which she wanted to get back to as soon as possible, she was so close to a breakthrough with project REGOO.
Taking a swig of an ecto-shake, Rylie realized she didn’t know much about the scientist in charge of the ROBOTUS project—Dr. Reagan Ridley—if she was being honest. They had met in passing a few times, but both of them seemed to prefer working on their own so not many pleasantries had been exchanged. Which was fine with Rylie, she didn’t know a majority of her coworkers to begin with.
Rylie didn’t let anyone else work with her in the Ghost Department of Cognito Inc. With her ghost powers, it was more of a danger to herself if she let others in. But there was also the fact that she worked best on her own to begin with.
Thinking about it, Rylie realized she wasn't much different from Dr. Ridley. Brilliant scientists devoted to their work, work they felt would change the world. Some days, Rylie wondered what it would be like to work with Dr. Ridley and the rest of her team, but then she was reminded that she needed to stay on her own. Her powers made keeping people close an impossible task. Not if she was keeping what she could do a secret.
With a sigh, Rylie stood up and transformed. “Time to go end an evil robot president.”

I haven’t read as much as I usually do in the past few weeks because things have been so busy, but I bring to you a very delayed fic rec friday! ♥️
closed doors by anonymous
Beans Comment: Only the first chapter has been uploaded so far but I already love this fic. It’s definitely going to be a painful but beautiful ride I think. Obviously beware of the tags.
rubbed raw and throbbing in the light by reaganing
Beans Comment: I went into this with a very open mind because I’m not usually into genderswap, but I’m SO glad I did. I love the development throughout the fic, how each chapter feels like a progression, and also how the fic is bookended with a kiss! It’s also absolutely searing hot.
poolside convo (about your summer last night) by hobfox
Beans Comment: Short and sweet, I’m also a big fan of fics that are set in the present and so it was cool thinking this could be some alternate reality that is happening right now. Also I adored Max being so annoyed that Daniel had bumped into George on holiday and not him.
kiss it better, make it wetter by @sleepyverstappens
Beans Comment: Absolutely outing myself as an enjoyer of omo fic with this one, but I loved this! Firstly, I think this kink works really well with this pairing and secondly I’m desperate for more Max/GP fic in general! I hope this becomes a series!
kinda by @formulacherry
Beans Comment: So incredibly hot. I was very warm after reading this one. I love fics where Max is really comfortable with what he wants/likes in the bedroom and this was absolutely that! Daniel was never going to be able to resist. Curious minds and all that.
something borrowed by @toastandvegemite
Beans Comment: This is a reread. Obviously. This is my favourite fic and I read this tucked up in bed in the middle of the night after a really hard day and I truly felt all the feelings just like the first time. I love on this fic so hard that Danni has actually gifted it to me on ao3 which is such an honour.

How did everyone meet their respective giants/tinies in your stardew au?
Did Serena/Jacob just happen to head in the mines/forest on a very bad luck day and suffered the conquences or is it kinda an abridged version of their main stories, but they are just in less shitty/horrible circumstances than their mainline counterparts?
I'm going to assume that everyone else has a pretty simular backstory to their mainline counterparts since there probably isn't too much that had to be changed for their stories to work in this au.
Ie. Jasper, Milo, and etc.
Little bit of both, it's sort of implied that this town is a hub of activity, which led to ABC and Athena keeping watch for the giant monsters and aliens respectively.
Serena would have been stalked/kidnapped while walking home at night and upon surviving, be recruited to work at the ABC Superstore (which is essentially Joja/Best Buy). If you have good friendship with her, she'll gift you various surveillance gear that you can use for Felix's mission to gather different types of "strange evidence". You can find redacted files that explain chunks of her story, and one day per season she'll be extremely spacey and may reveal extra details if you talk to her
No one knows what happened to Jacob, just that he went missing in the woods for a couple days and now refuses to go anywhere near them, except to look for Reagan whenever she goes in. He pretends it doesn't bother him but still refuses to talk about it and insists you shouldn't go messing around in there. You can find clues about a meteor shower the night he went missing and his sketchbook in the woods, so he was probably out there doing nature studies for art before he got yoinked.
You can overhear conversations between Jacob and Reagan about him warning Reagan that the woods are too dangerous, while she insists that the kitties are nice and one of them wants Jacob to come back and play again. If you find Reagan's toys in the woods and return them, you'll gain her friendship, and thus win Ylva's favor. Jacob tends to babysit her on weekends and festival days, so they've probably had plenty of previous playdates in the woods, hence why Reagan would go and find the kitties on her own adventure
Kumiko is an exchange student for college, Taiyo simply followed her. Which sucks, because the reason she went to an abroad college was to be halfway across the globe from him.
Jasper's story is pretty cut and dry from his original fic. You can find the journal notes in the cliff tunnels from C.A.R and himself. The lighthouse island is closed during winter though, so he'll be on the mainland and Deus will be hibernating.
Dean and Jamie already know each other as their stories have taken place in their hometowns previously. Dean is allegedly here on "business" and Jamie followed for no particular reason at all and certainly not to make sure news about Negasonic doing something nefariously illegal doesn't pop up for Nano to stop.
Felix will only meet Athena after enough evidence has been collected for him to launch an investigation in the desert region, where he'll finally catch her and start a similar plotline to their canon story.
Ben has already accidentally adopted Milo at this point, but it's still a vary fresh relationship, so he may ask things about parenting and pet ownership but get very uncomfortable if you press for details. You're also not allowed in his home unless you have a high enough friendship and proof of borrower activity. After he trusts you, you can actually go to his house and meet Milo, which will then boost your status with local borrowers and increase the chances they'll leave you with a gift every so often.
Don't ask Mayor Danny about anything, she doesn't know what the fuck is going on, but she'd got a rly comfy chair to sit in at town hall (:

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 🤍
you AND @youngpettyqueen both sent me this which 💜 this just means ten deranged self-recs because. deranged. i'd like to pretend this will be a diverse collection of recs, but. lmao.
1. None of Us are More Than Caretakers (The West Wing)
I wrote this whole story in about six weeks, and I loved every minute of it! About my only real complaint for season 7 of TWW is the transition stuff was so largely focused on the incoming administration, and I wanted to focus more on CJ and Danny (and the secret relationship!) and it overall turned into a little thing about legacy. And all because Gerald Ford happened to die during that time frame IRL! The alternative title is "what if I spent this whole fic setting up the events of Institutional Memory".
A snippet:
“Off the record?” Danny laughs, leaning back against the headboard. “How exactly would you expect me to quote you on this, CJ? The president’s chief of staff, while sitting in this reporter’s bed eating ice cream after sex, was quoted as saying…” CJ smiles too. “Force of habit.” “Sure.”
2. Don't Bet Your Future (M*A*S*H)
My most indulgent, most SILLY passion project. The combination of my love for M*A*S*H + Back to the Future = "Don't Bet Your Future". Essentially, it's a retelling of Back to the Future only BJ is Marty, Daniel is Doc, and... in 1955, Hawkeye is Daniel's son whom BJ has never heard of. This was the best thing I've ever written if only because it was so much fun. You should all write a fic based on your favourite movie, actually. 🥰🥺 (someday, sequels...)
Snippet:
And then a minute later, “What year is it?” BJ scoffs a little, turning on his side. He can just see the outline of Hawkeye in the dim of the room, a negative space with a warm voice, “Don’t laugh, I’m serious.” “It’s 1955.” “And who’s the president?” “Ronald Reagan,” BJ says grumpily. “Can I go back to sleep now, or are you gonna keep making me think about Ronald Regan?” “Is he a good president?” Hawkeye asks curiously. BJ thinks of AIDS and grimaces, his reply a little shorter than he means it to be. “No.”
3. What Unites Us (M*A*S*H)
One of my favourite gen fics I've written for MASH! Essentially, all of the letters sent back to the 4077 post-party. 🥰
4. Ties That Bind (Star Trek: TOS)
The Journey to Babel tag because Jim and Spock accidentally being linked by Amok Time and only finding out because Sarek lets it slip can be so personal (my first K/S day fic)
5. xenia (M*A*S*H)
The first time Peg meets Hawkeye, as seen through a classical lens (aka I wrote this one December while procrastinating studying for a classics final. Triad-ish, Peg's POV.

Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
I got like four of these which is very me! You are getting the West Wing one!
Back when I first watched season 2 of TWW I was like "what if he died tho?" (This surprises no one who knows me.) I don't know if I'll ever actually write the Josh Dies AU because it would be so involved, but I have a decent number of beats worked out for it!
About two years ago, I decided to do it as a series of shorter fics, if I do it at all, and stumbled into the idea of having each one open with the last scene and do a "how we got here," as a few episodes of the show do. I have a lot, so I'm putting this under a cut!
The first one starts with Jed addressing the nation on TV the night of the shooting, while still in the hospital, then we see the rest of that night. The doctors tell Jed and Abbey first. Abbey wants to tell the staff herself, but at the last minute she freezes and the doctor does it. Sam throws up, CJ and Donna are distraught, but Toby quietly asks about his body. It's Jewish custom not to leave the body unattended, so Toby is determined to stay with him until his mother gets there.
Danny continues pestering CJ about who was in charge and CJ blurts out that Josh died. She panics immediately, because that isn't public yet, but Danny tells her everything she says tonight is off the record and hugs her. Danny is clearly shaken too.
In my current notes, CJ agrees to do the morning shows, because I thought she might feel differently about doing them if Josh was dead, but I'm still waffling between that and Sam doing them. Whoever doesn't is waiting for whoever does when they get off the air. Josh's death has been announced already, so they talk about it. In the CJ version, she says a lot of what she says at her briefing in ISoTG, about the other victims of gun violence, and specifies Josh would have wanted to. She also says "I'm sorry, mi amore." Sam gives her her necklace when she gets off the air.
Leo, Sam, CJ, and Toby via cellphone plan to release a statement from the president, but Jed insists on making the statement himself. They decide if they do a tight angle on his face and keep it short he can do it from the hospital. Sam needs help preparing the statement, and goes and sits outside the room Toby and Josh are in. They talk on the phone from opposite sides of the door. Toby can't come out, and Sam can't make himself go in. When they're ready to do the statement, Toby shows up, indicating that Josh's mother is now here with him. Abbey asks Jed if he's sure, and he makes his address.
The notes get less detailed as we go. 😄
The second story opens with Donna telling Sam she's resigning, then shows us the last couple of months, starting shortly after the shooting. This is an AU of The Midterms, and Sams is following a with hopeless odds. During a briefing, a reporter asks CJ when the president is replacing Josh. Afterwards, Danny confronts his colleague, saying Josh's body isn't cold, and the other reporter accuses him of being too close to the administration.
Leo and Toby have a conversation where Toby asks if Leo is asking for his blessing. Later, Toby goes home and his brother David is there. He's been spending time with Toby since the shooting. David says Andi has been calling and she's worried, but Toby brushes him off.
Leo takes Sam to the Oval Office, where Jed, Toby, and CJ are waiting. Jed formally asks Sam to be Deputy Chief of Staff and Sam barely manages a "thank you, Mr. President" before fleeing. Leo finds him and explains that someone has to do the job, and he thought he'd be able to handle it better if it was Sam rather than a stranger. Sam agrees, but asks to be called Acting Deputy Chief of Staff. (I got this from Reagan's press secretaries, who were all "acting" so James Brady could keep the title, although he was still alive, I took a bit of poetic license). Sam and Leo go back into the Oval and Sam accepts the job.
The day of the midterms comes. Sam, Toby, CJ, and Donna have a beer together. The next day, Donna tells Sam she's resigning. He understands. His new office still looks like Josh's office, but the gun range target from season 1 has been taken down. Sam gets it back out and draws a two centimeter line on its chest (this fic's title would be Two Centimeters" after Sam's line about Josh living due to "two centimeters of a miracle").
The rest isn't structured yet, it's just beats:
Sam finds Will Bailey in a bar. Will ran the hopeless odds campaign and lost. He tells Sam he's planning to work a race in California next cycle, but Sam offers him a job as Deputy Communications Director.
Toby has run off all the more experienced candidates for Sam's job. He tries to run off Will, too, but Sam confronts him about it. He points out that he doesn't want anyone, but that Toby needs a deputy, and Sam can't keep trying to do two jobs. Sam pulls rank as DCoS, Toby points out he's acting, and Sam reminds him he took that title out of respect, but that his rank is unaffected.
Toby doesn't think the president and Leo care enough about guns. Sam says they do, and tells Toby to write a speech about gun reform and that he'll sell it. He also makes him hire Will for a probationary period.
Sam tells Leo that Toby thinks they're not doing enough. Leo assures him they are, but Sam says Toby is right and pushes for the gun bill. Sam says "I sit in thirty meetings a week listening to people tell me what my best friend was working on when he was murdered."
Charlie hires Debbie to be Sam's assistant since Donna quit, saying he could use an aunt to look after him.
As his probationary period ends, Will is planning to leave. He doesn't feel accepted by Toby and feels out of place with the general staff, who are all mourning someone he never met. One of the assistants forgot to not order Josh's burned hamburger, so they gave it to Will as a form of hazing. As Will is preparing to quit, Charlie gets the phone call about Mrs. Landingham's accident. Will silently decides to stay.
When the president is trying to replace Mrs. Landingham, Charlie says he knows the right person. This turns out to be Donna. She thinks Charlie is going to ask her to come back and work for Sam, but he says he isn't. She agrees to work for the president.
Donna is the first person to warm up to Will, and explains the burger to him. Sam thinks Will likes her, but Donna isn't interested.
Sam and Donna start sleeping together out of shared grief for Josh. They do care for each other, but it's messy and unhealthy. Even Sam thinks dating Will would be better for Donna, but doesn't push her to do it. When Donna wonders if she and Sam have anything in common, he says "we both love Josh."
CJ and Danny's relationship in this universe is complicated; the grief brings them closer, but CJ doesn't want to start a relationship because Josh died. They are endgame, but CJ and Simon happens in the middle (more on that later).
Charlie and Zoey stay together for a while, but they feel obligated to stay together because Josh died for their love, and this eventually drives them apart, amicably. Zoey wants to go to France with Jean-Paul because they have gun control there, but in the end she doesn't go. Instead of going to the bathroom when she realizes he spiked her drink, she goes to an agent to ask to go home. When they realize what happened, they're both treated for the drugs. The kidnapping is averted, but Zoey breaks up with Jean-Paul and eventually gets back together with Charlie.
Simon is assigned to CJ under similar circumstances to canon, but everyone is even twitchier about death threats. When she finds out he shot one of the Rosslyn shooters, she says "good" in a way that's so cold and venomous he finds it disturbing. He meets his canon fate.
After he's made DCoS, Sam gets the NSC card. He tries to give it back to Leo, and Leo tells him Josh did the same thing, but he won't let Sam do it. Sam protests, but Leo says he's having more trouble keeping a deputy alive now. Sam argues it wouldn't have changed anything, but Leo won't budge. Leo does tell him he's free to go directly to the president.
If it got this far, Sam would end up running the Santos campaign, because "he's who Josh would have picked." I might keep the tension of Will running the Russell campaign. Maybe Sam and Donna's situationship even puts her on that campaign, too.

Any possibility of a Danny Reagan headcannon or fic of him dating a mafia girl? And not in the sense that her family's mafia, but she's like second in command and does a lot of dirty work. I've always thought that would be an interesting pairing for Danny!
That would be an interesting pairing, but I'm so sorry, I actually haven't written in ages, and for Blue Bloods even longer.

Imagine being set up on a date with Danny
Tumblr media
(A/N: Not edited. Sorry, it’s awful, I’m telling you in an advance. I’m aware that I mentioned taking a break which I am so I’m not ignoring you. But this was almost finished and you had all waited long enough because I barely know what I’m doing anymore)
Imagine being set up on a date with Danny
“Reagan?” You questioned, hoping you were wrong, but as the man turned around to look at you from his seat on the bar, you realised you were right.
“Y/L/N?” He shot back his eyes widened in shock as they locked eyes with yours and his body tensing at the sight of it, “Oh wow!”
His words were helpless as if they just slipped out of his mouth, as you caught the moment his eyes looked you up and down, drinking you in. You had tried for tonight, wearing something that you would usually wouldn't wear but your best friend and colleague Kate instead that you looked fantastic in the clingy velvet red dress she’d picked for you. Wearing more dramatic make-up with your hair done. It was supposed to be a first date after all and even though it had been a while and you had protested about going, you did want to make an effort. Even your brother Ethan had complimented you, so you knew you looked decent.
But you couldn't focus on your blind date right now. You were too focused on the man in front of you. The only person you didn't want to see tonight.
“What are you doing here?” You accused.
“What are you doing here,” He repeated, “Wait, did you follow me here?”
“You wish,” You jeered, folding your arms and glaring at him.
“Well, it isn't much a stretch,” He snapped, “What are you doing? Writing another article about awful I am,”
“Don’t flatter yourself, Reagan,” You sneered, “And I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. My article was on the NYPD’s Major Crimes Department, not you,”
“Well, I’m the Head Detective of that department so it’s basically about me,” He waved off dismissively.
“Of course you would think that,” You laughed dryly, “You’re such an egotistical bastard,”
“In the flesh,” He winked.
You shook your head at him and gripped your folded arms tightly, seething. Of course on the one night you let yourself be forced to go on a blind date, he was here. And now you were not only going embarrass yourself, but you were also going to have an audience. This was the last place you would have expected to see him, an upscale modern restaurant in Manhattan, one of the most popular in the city, though to be honest, it was the last place anyone who knew you would look for you too.
You took a deep breath and looked at him again.
“You still haven't told me why you are here,” You reminded.
“What’s it to you?” He fired back, “Going to write another article about it?”
“Depends,” You shrugged, “Is it worth writing a story about?”
“Do you want to sit?” He asked avoiding the question.
“With you?” You asked, sceptically.
“You can stand their and glare if you want,” He shrugged before turning back around and looking straight at the bar.
You bit your lip before sitting down beside him with a huff, your date wasn't here yet anyway so you might as well take a seat and get a drink while you waited for whoever this mystery man was.
“What’s your poison?” He inquired before taking a swig of his beer.
You rolled your eyes at him before pointedly making eye contact with the bartender, “I’ll have a beer please,”
You saw Danny smirk as he took another sip. You looked him over for a second. In your annoyance, you hadn't noticed how differently he looked tonight. In all your previous encounters with him, he was always dressed up for work. So he looked smart if not a little ruffled in a suit. Tonight he was wearing a white dress shirt, with a skinny coloured tie and tighter pants than usual. Which you surprised yourself by noticing, He looked good though, nicer than usual but you knew you always thought he looked good. But like always you shook of any nice thoughts you ever had for Danny Reagan. He had become the bane of your life ever since you had met a couple months ago and ever encounter left you annoyed and not furious. And he obviously felt the same. You got under his skin as much as got under yours.
“If you must know I’m waiting for my date,” He finally admitted after a brief but surprisingly comfortable silence between the two of you.
“Oh,” You acknowledged, an undeniable sinking feeling settling in your stomach, were you disappointed? Were you jealous? No, you couldn't be, ignoring the feeling and masking it in your voice so he wouldn't pick up on it.
What right did you have to be jealous, anyway, you didn't even like him.
You met Danny while you were researching a possible corruption scandal within the NYPD a couple months ago. You worked as an investigative journalist and though you usually investigated Big Corporations, your boss thought you would be perfect for this job.
And he was right, you weren't ashamed to admit you were damn good at what you did but then again you had to be. You needed those promotions, advances and bonuses, you needed them to survive. So you worked hard, you were ruthless and you and your family were comfortable especially now as one of the youngest ever senior contributors in your papers history. But you still threw yourself into work every day, letting it take over your life in a way because you knew at any second something could happen and change your whole world. It had happened before, so you needed to be prepared. At all times. Which meant besides sleeping and taking care of your brother all you did was work.
So you went in fully admitting that you were a reporter but hid the real intention and subject matter of your article secret and giving them something else. You had been given a name that your tip had said was the one they knew for sure was taking bribes. But you wanted your story to be fully fleshed out and for that, you needed all the details. Everyone was very forthcoming at that department expect for Daniel Reagan, who admitted openly that he couldn't stand reporters. And you’d met types like him before and you could be extremely charming when you wanted to be, anything for what you wanted. But you couldn't charm him, in fact, you annoyed him as much as annoyed you.
You continuously butted heads and he was the only one to suspect that you might have some alter motive with your sneaking around and even though he was right you weren't about to give him any of the satisfaction. You had a couple of heated arguments about it all, surprising as no one could get to you like he could. You did back off a little and made your investigating more covert after the last one before publishing your story which ran on the front page. Which made Danny even more annoyed as he was the face of the department as Head Detective. But your article focused on one particular officer in the department after you figured out that he was the only one taking bribes and everyone else, including Danny, were very good at what they did. Danny did track you down and confronted you about the article and you defended it to no end. The people deserved to know that the cop in question had been covering up crimes and taking bribes for his almost forty-year career.
And even though Danny accused you of lying and blindsiding the NYPD at the time. That was true either. You had respect for cops and what they did every day and you weren't going to start a major scandal that could ruin the people's trust in them. So you made sure to inform the internal affairs department before the article with all the evidence so they had the upper hand. And you were sure Danny didn't know it at the time but you had even talked to the Commissioner of the NYPD who you found out was Danny’s father. And he thanked you for exposing essentially a criminal within the NYPD which they didn't know about.
But ever since Danny, didn't like you. Perhaps it was pride or something else but either way you didn't get on. And after everything was said and done and you thought you would never see him again and yet you just kept on bumping into each other around the city and every single time, you would both mess with each other even more. The last time you had run into each other you were been shopping for groceries with your brother and he was there as well.
Your brother thought it was hilarious how quickly you guys became engulfed into an argument seemingly unable to have a conversation without antagonising each other despite it being a short encounter. He left quickly because of work and you spent the next fifteen minutes complaining about him which just led to you brother teasing you about it for the rest of the day, just like your best friend and colleague Kate did whenever you complain to her about him too.
“So who's the unlucky girl?”
He turned to face you directly, a sharp retort on the tip of his tongue but he was interrupted by the hostess appearing behind you both.
“Mr Reagan, your table is ready,” He smiled, two menus in his hand.
“My date isn't here yet though,” Danny informed.
“Is this not…” He began to question, looking at you.
“Oh no,” Danny waved off, “This is…”
“We’re not together,” You piped up.
“Are you sure?” He asked, looking puzzled, “The reservation by Mrs Franklin had both of your names listed,”

“Whose Mrs Franklin?” Danny demanded.
“My best friend Kate,” You informed, “This is her husband’s restaurant,”
“I still don't understand. I’m here because my sister set me up on a blind date,” Danny began to explain still confused.
“Wait you are?” You interrogated, looking straight at him and catching his eye in shock, “Because I am too,”
“Are you messing with me?” He accused.
“No, Kate set me up on a blind date, she sorted everything out and just told me to turn up here at 8,” You elaborated.
“My sister told me the exact same thing,” He confessed, “Though she added that she had found me the perfect date,”
“You sister’s the DA, right?”
He nodded.
“Kate is a court reporter. They must know each other and set us up,” You deduced.
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
“Oh, I wish I was kidding,” You seethed, “I can't believe she would do this. After all the times I told her how annoying you are,”
“Obviously, this is some kind of a joke because I told my sister all about you,” Danny huffed without thinking.
“Really?” You asked, raising your eyebrows at him.
“Oh don't act like you didn't admit about talking about me constantly,” He snapped, rolling his eyes.
“With disdain,” You added insistently.
“So can I take you both to your table?” The hostess, taking the brief pause as an opportunity to interrupt you both.
You both wordlessly snatched your jackets and headed over to the table where you were seated opposite each other. You watched each other as you both silently scanned the menus. Both of you clearly acting like you didn't want to be there yet either of you protested or made an attempt to leave.
“You nervous Reagan?” You finally asked, eyeing him up from across the table unable to hide the amused grin on your face as he seemed to squirm under your gaze.
“You wish,” He countered, quickly, “I can't believe she would set me up with you out of all people. After…you know you just weren't the person I was expecting to be spending dinner with,”
“Who were you expecting?” You entertained, “Considering this a blind date and all?”
“I don’t know anyone but you,” He sighed.
“Anyone but the person you confronted in the middle of the street about an article she wrote about your department while she was just trying to get coffee?” You offered, blankly with a false smile.
“Exactly,” He muttered.
An awkward silence developed between the two of you and lingered along with the tension, incessant and ruthless, filled with heavy breathing and the sounds of a bustling, upscale Manhattan restaurant. A waiter came over and took your drinks order while you both separately pursued the menus. Coming back with your drinks before leaving you in silence again.
“Well, this blows,” Danny huffed from across the table, his palms pressing against the table as he looked from side to side, scanning the restaurant around you.
“Tell me about it,” You agreed, folding your arms across your chest and purposely trying not to glare exactly at him, your usual confidence apparently disappearing but you were determined to hold your own.
“And just for the record if I knew it was you, I wouldn't have come, okay?” He insisted unconvincingly, leaning across the table slightly towards you before jerking away and leaning back in chair uncomfortably.
“Likewise,” You muttered, not looking at him still, cursing yourself, you had so much more to say to him.
“I should just go,” Danny announced, grabbing his phone and wallet from the table, “I’d rather waste my money on food that I’ll actually enjoy,”
“Why are you worried about that?” You questioned, taking a sip of your wine, “Dinner’s on the house tonight,”
“What why?” He counted, settling in his seat ever so slightly.
“My best friend Kate and I’m assuming your sister are covering the bill tonight,” You informed, “I guess to try and minimise the chance either of us walking out on this,”

“Well, I’m never going to turn down free food,” He stated, with a confident smirk.
“I’ll toast to that!” You chuckled eagerly, lightening up a little.
“How about a toast to making it through tonight without you throwing a drink on each other,” He suggested, raising his second beer to you, “Cheers?”
“Cheers!” You agreed after pausing for a second, thinking it over.
You had promised Kate and Ethan that you would try on this date and not make any excuses to leave. Which was a promise you found weird at the time and now you understood why they had. They had clearly set all of this up maybe as a joke or perhaps as revenge for always complaining about how annoying Danny was to them.
You and Danny proceeded to make idle small talk before and after you ordered your three courses. It was only after the starters arrived, all those topics had been covered and you figured while you were both partially distracted it was the best time to ask.
“So…” You started.
“So…” He echoed, mockingly before taking a hearty bite.
“I’m trying to figure out what would have lead to your sister and my best friend coming to the conclusion that setting us up on a date would be a good idea,” You explained.
“Well, I have mentioned you to her a couple of times,” He confessed, looking down.
“Romantically?” You questioned, taken aback.
“Don’t flatter yourself,” He warned, flatly, “At first it was about you and your story and then it was about your article and then it was how you were always getting on my nerves,”
“You started it,” You insisted. “What about you?” He demanded, changing the subject, “Why would your friend think this would be a good idea,”
“Well similarly to you I may have mentioned you a couple of times,” You sighed, “All of which including a less favourable description of you being the bane of my existence,”
“Don’t you think that’s a tad dramatic,” He quipped.
“Not as dramatic as that tie you're wearing,” You fired back referencing the brightly patterned tie he was wearing.
“My son bought this for me. He said it would bring me good luck on my date,” Danny revealed, smiling down at his tie.
“Is it working?”
“It’s not not working,” He grinned at you, “It could be worse,”
“It looks good on you,” You agreed shyly, “You suit the dramatic look,”
“I guess Erin may have thought that I had a little crush on you,” He continued, “She said it was because I wouldn't stop talking about you,”
You let hearty laugh in response.
“Don’t hurt yourself,” He muttered.
“No,” You continued in an attempt to clear things up, “I’m laughing because Kate and my Brother said the exact the same thing. That you annoyed me so much because I liked you…romantically,”
“Oh,” He acknowledged, clearly surprised, “Was she right,”
“Maybe,” You teased, not looking him in eye and running your tongue over your lips.
“Well, the feeling is mutual if it is,” He said confidently.
“Really?”
“You’ve seen yourself right?” He chuckled, “Way too pretty to be at dinner with me,”
“Hey, don’t sell yourself short,” You defended, “Plus, I’m never usually this dressed up. I just wanted to make a good impression…”
“Check,”
“And this place is way too fancy for my usual non-work attire,” You continued, beaming.
“Tell me about it,” He agreed, “If I’m not working, I’m not wearing a suit,”
“This isn't even my dress,” You added, “The kid insisted I wear one of my friends or it wouldn't look I was trying,”
“The kid?” Danny asked.
“Oh Ethan,” You corrected, “You met him at the store. I didn't have a chance to properly introduce him between our arguing,”
“I didn't know you had a kid,”
“Well, he’s not actually my kid,” You attempted to try and reason, “He is my baby brother but it’s been just been the two of us for so long. He’s basically my kid, I’m only parent he’s got,”
“I have two boys,” He smiled with evident understanding.
“I saw a picture of them on your desk with…” You remembered before trailing my wife.
“Their mom,” He finished for you, smiling fondly at you but his eyes filled with sadness, “She died a couple years ago now and ever since then it’s just been the three of us,”
“I’m sorry Danny,” You comforted and without thinking but thoughts wouldn't have changed your action, either way, reaching across the table and grasping his hand.
“Don’t be,” He shrugged off, squeezing your hand a little, “It’s been a while and I have dated since. Linda made it clear that she would want me to move on if anything happened. She just said make sure they were a good person and be a good influence on the boys,”
You nodded in understanding.
“This is not something you should bring up on a first date,” He sighed uncharacteristically apologetic.
“I get it, Danny,” You soothed, “I’m a single parent too I guess,”
“You are,”
“And I know how hard it can be especially with the whole dating thing,” You sympathised, “This is my first date in almost two years,”
“Really?”
“Yeah, my whole life since my parents died has been about working so I can take care of Ethan and being there for him so you know he didn't miss out on anything. Which meant I didn't have a lot of time to myself,”
“What changed?”
“He’s going to college,” You beamed, proudly.
“Where?”
“Stanford for Pre Med,” You revealed.
“That’s amazing,” Danny congratulated, “He must be a smart kid,”
“The smartest, way smarter than me,”
“San Fransisco is far though,” Danny acknowledged.
“Yeah, which is why I think he was so insistent that I go on his date,” You breathed, “I think he’s trying to make sure I’m not lonely when he goes,”
“Make sure you thank him for me,”
“Will do,”
The night continued proceeded pretty well. You and Danny deep in conversation getting to know each other beyond what you already knew. He even ended up apologising for the overreaction to the article, explaining that he took his forestation out on me, as the detective in question was his hire and he was upset that he didn't pick up on what was happening, as the head detective, sooner.
Danny helped you to put your coat on as you made your way out the restaurant together. You had spent hours there so it was late and Danny insisted on walking you back to your apartment that was close by.
“Can I ask you something?” Danny inquired as you made your way down the dark and empty Manhattan streets, your arms linked together, you didn't know how it happened but neither of you were making an effort to disentangle yourselves.
“Shoot,” You agreed.
“Why investigative journalism?” He pondered out loud to you.
“It actually wasn’t the original dream,” You confessed, “My whole life I dreamed of being on air correspondent doing international affairs but you can’t travel all over the world with a kid so I had to change my plans quickly. I needed a job that was flexible and preferably I could do at home. So  I took this crappy job as a fluff writer for this smaller paper. It sucked but it paid well enough. I thought I would do that forever. But then I was invited to a college friends wedding,”
“A wedding?” He questioned, sceptically.
“I’m not finished,” You stated before continuing, “My friend was marrying into the richest family in her little town. And it all seemed like a fairytale but something was off. And I couldn't shake the feeling so all weekend I did some digging and I knew something was up especially after the groom went missing. I had to stay and get to the bottom of it because everyone was trying to cover it up including the local PD. So I called my boss and told him that I was chasing a story, she thought it wasn't worth pursuing and said I was fired if I didn't turn up on Monday,”
“What happened Monday?”
“I found out that the family had built their fortune in the 70s by smuggling for the Serbian Mafia and that that they had called favour which the family refused so they were holding their son hostage,” You revealed, “And I was fired but it didn't matter. I collected my evidence, gave it to the FBI, wrote my article which was published on the front page on the most popular newspaper in the country. Who offered me a job. And I’ve been exposing fortune five hundreds ever since,”
“You caught the bug,” He chuckled.
“There is something exhilarating about cracking a case open,” You sighed, contentedly, “What about you, why did you become a cop?”
“You’re not allowed to do anything else in my family,” He joked, before pausing and continuing, “I knew I was halfway decent at it and what’s better than making the city a better place?”
“I guess we can’t all have exciting origin stories,” You commented, teasingly.
“Har har,” He snapped, rolling his eyes.
“This is me,” You announced, looking up to see your apartment building.
A silence consumed you both as you let go of him and took the first step up the stoop. You turned around to face him.
“So,”
“So,” He echoed.
“I had a lot of fun tonight,”
“Me too,” He grinned sheepishly, “We should do it again sometime,”
“Really?” You let out helplessly.
“Yeah,” He nodded, “I really do like you, Y/N,”
“I like you too,” You smiled, “But…”
“But?” He repeated with an almost defeated look on his face.
“I also don't want to give Kate or Ethan the satisfaction of knowing they were right about us,”
“I’ll never hear the end of it if Erin hears this went well especially the second date well,” He shared in agreement.
“So what are you going to say happened?” You inquired.
“That I bolted as soon as I saw you and spent the night at a bar,” He winked.
“You dick,” You giggled.
“Yeah, yeah,” He played off, “What are you going to say?”
“That I threw my drink at you before you could say hello and walked out.,”
“What, why?”
“It’s funny,” You smirked.
“I’ll take it,” He sighed, “But only because we have a second date,”
“We do indeed,” You said, “Text me the details,”
“I’ll call you,” He insisted.
“Such a gentleman,” You joked, “Goodnight Danny,”
“Night,” He returned before you walked up the steps, turning back around at the top by the door to wave at him as he was waiting of you go inside.
As you spun around, your eyes met and he headed up the stairs after you.
“You forget something, Reagan?” You questioned, puzzled, as you looked into his eyes and your breath caught in your throat as you registered how close you really were to each other.
He nodded before whispering, inches away from your face, “This,”
And with that, he pulled you into a kiss. His hand sliding around your waist to steady you as you were losing balance in your attempt not to break contact. Your arms flung around his neck as you pressed yourself into him even more, letting go and giving into your impulses.
Eventually, you pulled away breathless but content, “Satisfied?”
“More than you know,” He winked before pressing a final kiss on your cheek, “Goodnight,”
“Goodbye Danny,” You whispered before he headed down the steps and disappeared into the night.
He wasn't gone for too long though. Calling you the next day to arrange your second date.

Title: Give Me The Keys
Rating: G
Paring: Danny Reagan/Linda Reagan
___________________
Linda knows this week has been tough for Danny. He won't- or maybe he can't- tell her about his case. She respects and understands that, she really does. He's come home every day for the last two weeks past midnight. As soon as his arm wraps around her and his head hits the pillow, he's asleep. He looks like he hasn't gotten any sleep when he wakes up the next morning.
It's nine on a Saturday, he's finally home, and she knows what she has to do. He's napping in their bedroom, and she needs to be extremely quiet while gathering all she needs. She steps into the bedroom, sits on her side. "You awake, babe?"
"Barely," Danny answers, turning to her.
"I need to run a few errands. Try to sleep while I'm gone, yeah?"
He nods, "mmkay."
She smiles and presses a kiss to his forehead. "I should be back soon."
*********
"Come on," Linda says while Danny sits at the table, eating cold chicken for a late breakfast.
"What?"
"Come on!" She yanks his arm, encouraging him to stand up and follow her.
He follows her out to the car, "Where are we going? Do we need anything? What about the chicken I didn't get to eat?"
"We have all we need, let's just go." She climbs into the driver's seat, and he into the passenger seat.
"Linda, what are you doing?" He wants to know, buckling his seatbelt.
"Kidnapping you." She answers immediately and matter of factly.
"Babe."
"I'm taking you out of the house, against your will. And I've forced you into this car, against your will. And I'm going to drive, with you buckled in this car, against your will. Pretty sure that constitutes as kidnapping, Detective."
He plays along, "when you're done, I'll probably have to throw the book at you. Kidnapping a police detective and all."
"You should definitely arrest me, make sure I've learned my lesson."
He matches her suggestive smile before asking again, "where are we going?"
*********
"What is this place?" Danny wonders as he rides the elevator with Linda to one of the top floors.
"You'll soon find out," Linda answers, grabbing his hand as the elevator doors open. She leads him to a white door, and he's shocked to see she had a key.
"How on earth do you have a key?"
"Would you just stop being a detective for one minute and just trust your wife?"
He sighs but keeps his mouth shut... until the door opens and he sees linoleum floors, big windows, mirrors reaching to the ceiling, and a picnic basket and blanket set up in the middle of the floor.
"What the hell is this?"
"You remember my friend Elliot, right?"
"Yeah, the fashion designer."
"This is his studio. He's in Paris for the summer, and he gave me the key to use this space when and however I want... with whoever I want. It's not exactly out of the city, and I can't exactly take a hotel on the waterfront, but it's away from the house."
He looks around the room, then back at her, "you did this all for me?"
"No, Danny, I did it all for Tom Selleck," she says evenly. Then, "of course I did it for you! You needed a break after the last two weeks, and what better way than a secluded picnic? We have Mexican street corn salad, grilled chicken wraps, watermelon and strawberries, brownies for dessert, and wine."
"This- Linda, I don't know what to say."
"Ask your wife to join you in a picnic lunch," she says softly, holding out her hand for him to take.
He does so and leads her to sit on the soft picnic blanket. After blessing the food, he asks her, "how long have you had this planned?"
"Truthfully? Seventy two hours." Linda takes a bite of her wrap, "I knew I wanted to do something to get you to relax and forget life for a while. I thought of a bath, but it's a hundred ten, and even I'm not that crazy."
He laughs at her tone and eye roll.
"So I came up with this. I texted Elliot just in case, and he said 'have at it'. So here we are, having at it," she spreads her arms- her wrap still in her hand- and shrugs.
"You're amazing, Linda. I love you so much."
She smiles and blushes, amazed at how easily he can make her flustered. It's like they're in high school again, sweating they're just really good friends. "You've done so much for me, especially those first two years after the accident. I can't possibly thank you or repay you enough for all you've done. And I know this picnic isn't even close to all I want to say and do to you and for you, but it's a start, y'know? And if it takes me the rest of my life to finally show you how incredibly lucky and thankful I am that you chose me to spend the rest of your life with... well, I won't mind so much. Because I love doing this for you, and I love seeing you happy. I love you."
Linda's speech tugs at his heart. "You don't have to repay me, baby. That's not why I did it-"
"I know, and I'm not at all suggesting that. No way. I just- don't know how to thank you properly for everything you do for me."
He grabs her hand and holds it tightly, "by being my wife, and being you. Patient, compassionate, kind, funny, sexy. You can repay and thank me by doing exactly what you've been doing."
"I've just been loving you-"
"Exactly. I don't need big gestures, babe. Just you, and your big blue eyes and toothy grin."
She smiles widely at his sweet words.
"That's the one. I love you, Linda. So much. I can't even possibly begin to tell you or show you how much you mean to me."
"Then I guess we're in the same feelings are too much boat, huh?"
He laughs and leans over to give her a kiss. "Thank you for this. It means a lot to me."
"I love you, Danny."
"I love you more."
"I love you most."
He smiles- he really does have the best wife, doesn’t he?

I've been dying to share this fic for a while, because it's the first Blue Bloods fic I started writing since I picked up watching the show again. I got this idea as a way for Frank to get through some of his grief in the aftermath of his son's death, but soon it turned into something more.
Mainly there's a recurring theme I will have in several of my stories as of now, and that's an undercover op going wrong for Frank back when he was still in his first years on the force, where he was drugged, assaulted and raped, and the perp walked after the trial was concluded. It was something that me and Thistle came up with for another story, and later after I finished writing that one, I suddenly decided to include that angle in this one too.
It turned out a bit longer than I expected it, but don't they all?
Standard warnings in this case that apply are that the non-con bit is only referenced when Frank tells Danny about the op. Nothing specifically described, just general description of the situation.
Also there is a headcanon I have about all of them having codenames for each other and couldn't resist having Danny use his and Erin's in trying to communicate with her because the cell towers were down.
I couldn't help but add a little bit of soft in the headcanon that Mary knitted him some of the sweaters. Half the time my imps are hurting this poor man, and the other half they give him soft.
Without further ado have the what we dubbed "the rain fic".
Thank you N1ghtshade for holding my hand while I was writing this and encouraged me to go where I never thought I would, not with this character anyway, and for the help in brainstorming and feeding the imps.

Bury Me Low Snippet 2
Rylie groaned as she flopped into her chair. A strand of her dark hair fell in her face as her gaze landed on the simulation she had been running. FAILURE blinked across the screen in bold red lettering. The last thing she wanted to see.
“Not again…” she muttered, running a hand over her face. This was the tenth time the simulation for project REGOO, a renewable energy project involving ectoplasm, had failed. Her chair spun in slow circles, her fingers drumming against the armrests. If the ectoplasm would stop burning out the fuel cells within five minutes of being turned on…
The thought pushed her back into work mode. “If I recalibrated the cells… No, they’re already calibrated for max output…” Leaning her head back, she closed her eyes. It only took her a second to stiffen and turn back to her computer, however. Solar panels were always more effective in the cold, what if the same concept worked here?
“What if I…” Making sure the door to her lab was locked, Rylie took one of her gloves off. Flexing her flesh fingers, she let frost and ectoplasm gather in her hand. Using her prosthetic, she grabbed a spare fuel cell and pushed it close to her ghostly ice and ectoplasm.
The blue display on the side of the cell instantly started glowing brighter. She let her chair start spinning again as she threw her glowing fist in the air. “Yes!” she cheered, slamming her powered up hand into her armrest. Which instantly froze over and then broke. She couldn’t help but let out a giggle, letting her powers slip back under her skin. “Wh-Whoops,” she breathed, another chuckle slipping past.
As her spinning slowed down, she noticed she wasn’t alone anymore. Stopping her chair, she found herself staring into two pairs of eyes that she didn’t immediately recognize.
This wasn’t good. “Ah, shit.” Hadn’t the door been locked? How did these two get in? Similar questions ran through her head as she tried to figure out what to say. She couldn’t tell them to just ignore what they had seen, could she? Could she trust them to stay quiet? And wasn’t that Dr. Ridley?

Daniel “Danny” Reagan hated bullies. He absolutely hated them. As a small boy, he was teased for the way he talked: brashly, impulsively. As a young, elementary school boy, he was teased because he didn’t learn as fast as the other kids; which was confusing to him, because everyone in the neighborhood told him he was smart. So why couldn’t he learn like the other kids? As a junior high student, he was teased for having “a girl’s butt”. As a teen, it was anything the bullies could get ammo on. The fact that he could play the piano? Bullied for it. He knew how to hem and sew on buttons? Bullied for it. Babysitter for his dweeby baby brother? Bullied for it. By the time he was fourteen and a half, he had had enough of it.
Which was why he found himself sitting in the principal’s office with a bloody nose, swollen eye, split lip, and multiple scrapes on his face. He sat with his arms crossed, angry at the teacher who ratted him out. He didn’t see anything wrong with what he did; he was defending someone he cared for.... wasn’t that what Mom and Dad had always told him to do? He heard the door open from behind him, and got very nervous. The footsteps were soft, so that meant it wasn’t Dad. Phew. Mom got mad and sent them to their rooms.... Dad yelled and spanked and sent them to their rooms.
“Is something wrong? What happened?” Mary Reagan, that sweet-angel lady, walked in front of her son’s chair. She immediately grew concerned, touching the opened scrapes gently. “Danny? Are you alright? What happened?” She smoothed his hair back, even though it was fine. Years down the road, he’d realized that was something he had inherited.
As stubborn and pig-headed as he was, he couldn’t help the apology falling from his lips, “I’m sorry, Ma! I really am! But they were being mean to Joe!”
“Who?”
“Damn bullies, that’s who!”
“Watch that tongue.” She sternly scolded. “Who was being mean to Joey?” Because, no matter how much Joe may protest that nickname, he would always be Joey to his mother.
“Pete and his da- dumb gang,” he corrected himself. Maybe if he told her how they were being unfair to her Joey, he’d get off easier. “They were punching him and pushing him, and he couldn’t do anything ‘cause he’s tiny.” Joe and Jamie were on the smaller side for the moment, and Big Brother Danny felt the need to protect them— even his annoying sister Erin. “And I had to protect him! I had to. You an’ Dad always say protect the one you love. And Joe’s family, an’ I was doin’ my job! And I’m gon’ get in trouble for it an’ it’s not fair!” He didn’t mean for the last of it to sound whiny.
“Where’s your brother?”
“He’s in the other room,” the principal’s aide announced, standing up to retrieve the young boy.
“I really didn’t mean to get into a fight,” Danny tried to help his case. “I asked them to stop, I did. An’ I did it nicely. But they di’n’t listen! So I made Joe stand somewhere outta the way. He didn’t look too good, Ma. An’ I told them boys to stop an’ pick on someone their own size. So they started punching me, so I punched back.”
Mary’s face was unreadable. She wasn’t sure if she was angry with him for fighting, or happy that he stuck up for his brother. She sighed and gently rubbed his cheek bone- another habit he would come to discover he’d inherited.
Despite his very best efforts, a single tear slid from his eye. Sniffling, and wiping it away vigorously, he mumbled, “I really hate bullies.”
That was when Mary knew she wasn’t going to punish him too badly. She hugged him tightly, and kissed his cheek. “We’ll figure this out, Danny Boy. I’ll talk to Dad, and we’ll talk to Joey.”
At that moment, Joe came in with the nurse, looking only slightly better than his older brother. He was on the verge of tears, which he hated. “I’m sorry, Mama. I didn’t mean to get dirty an’ all.”
Mary shook her head and hugged her second son. “Oh, it’s okay, Joey.” She smoothed his hair back, “Danny told me the whole story.... you didn’t do anything to provoke them, did you?”
“Povokee?” He mispronounced the word as he sniffled, rubbing a fist over his swollen cheek.
“It means get them pissed.” Danny frowned when Mary shot him a look, “Sorry, Ma. She wants to know if you made ‘em mad.”
“No! I didn’ do nothin’!” The tears that had been held back started coming, much to his dismay.
“Oh, it’s okay, honey.” Mary hugged Joe, and straightened to talk to the principal. “I’d like to see him, now.”
Once Mary had gone to the other room, Danny slid from his chair and walked to his brother. He studied him for a few moments, then hugged him. “Listen, Joe. When Jamie’s old enough to go to school, you an’ I, we gotta look after him. Erin, too. But I’m not gon’ be in the same school for a while, y’know.”
“Yeah, college.” The idea was still a little foreign to the eleven year old, but he understood it enough to know that Danny wouldn’t be with them all the time.
“So you gotta take care of Erin and Jamie, and even Ma, understand? When I’m not around, an’ when Dad ain’t, either.... you’re the man. An’ that means you gotta look after everyone.” The fourteen year old had no idea that his speech would way so much more in four years.
“I understand. I protect.” Joe puffed up some, all the tears gone.
Danny chuckled and ruffled his hair, “right. And you better start practicin’ if you wanna be a cop like Dad, an’ me eventually.”
Joe nodded in all seriousness, knowing he could do exactly that. Just like his brother, he had no idea how much this conversation really meant. “I promise to look after Erin and Jamie and Mama. And even you an’ Daddy. Like Jamie said, Daddy needs more hugs.”
Danny smiled and put an arm around his brother, “we could all use more hugs.”

Detective Maria Hill
Maria is one of the most bad ass chicks in “The Zoo.” Nick Fury actually brought her to the apartment building after he meet her at Luke’s. They’ve been long time friends and Maria is somewhat hard to make friends with. She served in the Marines before she came home and joined up with NYPD and rose through the ranks. Her partner is Police Comissioner Frank Reagan’s, son Danny Reagan. After being in a horrible relationship, that she doesn’t like talking about, Maria took up teaching Self Defense at Castles twice a week to woman and teens. She has a weakness for a good cup of coffee and all the dogs in the building. If you ask her nicely you can probably get her to babysit for free.
