If anyone is interested, last week Danny Masterson's team moved for him to be freed on bail. It will go to the judge now.

It's pretty funny.

Among their arguments:

He's lived an 'exemplary, law-abiding life' (except for all the raping, I guess??), and he isn't a threat to anyone, including the Jane Does from the trial (they have an ongoing Civil case against him claiming he/Scientology have harassed and threatened their families for years, including poisoning one of their dogs).

He's very close to his family - mother, siblings, wife and daughter - and they depend on him (Maybe true, idk - but also true that they're all Scientologists and DM has officially been declared as a 'Suppressive Person' in the wake of his conviction, which means they are to cut him out of their lives completely. In the wake of this, his ex-wife quietly left the organization. This is a whole rabbit hole, y'all).

And of course, Danny's philanthropic efforts to aid a charity for firefighters in the aftermath of 9/11 is heavily emphasized. Because, you know. That's really fucking relevant.

This goes in front of Judge Olmedo next. I, uh. I don't think it's going to get a whole lot further than that. But we shall see!

don't know much about the Danny Masterson situation but it thoroughly disgusts me when people come to rapists aid because "their children will suffer without a parent." As if the victims haven't suffered enough and as if the potential suffering of a child is more important than the very real suffering the victims have already faced. Also just proves that they don't truly believe in the suffering of these women and idk seems a little patriarchal mom-ism to expect these women to sacrifice for this child that they know nothing about.

And not to say they aren't right that the child will be negatively affected by all this, but maybe the rapist should have thought about how their actions affect other people. Also not to be weird but many a people grow up without a father, I did. It's definitely not as bad as being raped. So yeah idk think about your shitty logic Ashton Kutcher and flush yourself down a toilet. You too Mila Kunis.

There's the stereotypical rape apologist where they hear that a friend or coworker or loved one sexually assaulted someone and they defend them with, "but he's a good guy!"

And it's so disappointing and disgusting that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher did that. While still claiming to care about sexual assault victims.

You cannot try to get a rapist out of jail sooner and then claim you care about rape victims.

So Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis both wrote character letters for Danny Masterson, and while there is a lot for me to absorb here, the fact that Ashton Kutcher thought to mention that Danny was always on time to work is just flummoxing me. I know that you don't need to be smart to be an actor, or be a good writer to be an actor, but I just can't grasp how this man wrote a letter defending a serial rapist that he almost certainly knew would become public and actually thought "please factor in his punctuality when you sentence him for multiple violent rapes."

To be clear, although I don’t feel sorry for Chris Rock due to his misogynoir and weird obsession with Jada, in a perfect world I’d like everyone to keep their hands to themselves. Still, it’s interesting to see so many of the folks who swore up and down that Will Smith traumatized them put on their capes for actual abusers and rapists. Or like Sean Penn have their own history of being abusive.

There’s something extremely sketchy about being on the board of a charity intended to support children who have been sexually abused, while also privately writing letters to a judge in defence of your buddy when he’s in court on rape charges. Like, idk man, maybe read to room a bit on that one.

yes. you can see the letter of support for d*nny m*sterson here. there’s a few more printed, including one from eric balfour, but you can search jonathan by name if you only want to find his. you can find proof of jonathan being linked to the same charity he uses in this letter here, as well as proof of his name being tied to the boston garden here. on top of that, i can confirm jonathan hasn’t made any new posts (unless via his story which i haven’t been monitoring because i unfollowed real fast) since these letters became public, but he or whoever manages his social media have found the time to log on and delete comments like the one under this read more.
