There's the stereotypical rape apologist where they hear that a friend or coworker or loved one sexually assaulted someone and they defend them with, "but he's a good guy!"
And it's so disappointing and disgusting that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher did that. While still claiming to care about sexual assault victims.
You cannot try to get a rapist out of jail sooner and then claim you care about rape victims.

Last time I’m talking about this, but that video with MK & AK “explaining themselves” literally was just like the Colleen Ballinger ukulele video.

The best friend really wanted to watch a delightful film made with love, so we decided to sit down and watch Jupiter Ascending.
We'd both only seen it once before, though we did remember certain parts very clearly. We're definitely not of the "actually it's good" school of thought, but we do think it's generally beautiful, sometimes intriguing, and there are occasional glimpses to another reality in which a good Jupiter Ascending exists. But in a way, it's more of a joy as a bad film—not just because it's bad, or so bad it's good, but because it's bad in such a unique and charming way while very committed to its vision. So it was definitely the experience we were looking for.
Best friend's response: "it's like an adorable three-legged dog. You can't help but love it."
My response: "I feel like I've been hit by a metric ton of cotton candy."
Highlights: Eddie Redmayne CREATING LIFE and destroying it; Channing Tatum's anti-grav rollerblading; the honesty of royalist bees; Eddie's dragonman guards; Mila Kunis's wardrobe as god empress CEO of space; and the bizarrely great performance delivered by the Aegis commander.

PSA, for the casual viewers of That 90s Show.
Since Hollywood journalism has failed spectacularly in this regard, other than a brief backlash shortly thereafter, here is why Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith should be blacklisted. And have no roles in That 90s Show, currently and in the future.
They both wrote letters asking for leniency for Danny Masterson, a convicted rapist serving thirty years in prison. In a court of law. Debra Jo Rupp, along with Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, also posited that Masterson was a good guy for being anti-drugs. Which is absolutely ridiculous. To pick loyalty to their despicable friend rather than picking basic moral decency is absolutely unacceptable, and they should not be rewarded in Hollywood. In any way, shape, and form.
Here are some quotes from the letters (I am linking them here):
"So thank you for allowing me to tell you about the Danny Masterson that I love." -Debra Jo Rupp
Debra also called him "respectful and kind." Maybe to her, but not to his victims.
"I consider myself to be fortunate to have had Danny Masterson in my life." -Kurtwood Smith
Kurtwood did not use the drug argument like the others, but still. He also said, "I found that Danny treated women on the show with respect, not only the women in the cast, but women on the crew as well." Wasn't one of Danny's victims one of the girls on the episode, "Hyde Gets The Girl (season 4)?" That's the opposite of treating women, both on and off the stage, with respect.
*****
So, spread this as far and wide as possible. Neither of them, along with Kutcher and Kunis, should work in Hollywood. Never again.
*****
Notes:
1. I am no fan of That 90s Show. Yet, even if this was my favorite show, I'd feel the exact same way.
2. Some argue that people are aware of their terrible actions, and/or are simply defending a friend, but have moved on and are okay with it. There is a minority that feel this way, but I firmly believe that most of the casual audience is wholly unaware, because many would agree with the inclination that they (along with Kutcher and Kunis) should never act again. Akin to Roseanne Barr.
3. Watching their past shows is fine, as is watching season 2 for the kids and such. But to actively support them is a whole other can of worms.

Why can't the writers just let these two go, like keep beating an already dead horse.
They've already shown in the previous show that their better off as friends than lovers, what is it about them that makes the writers go gaga.

ashotn kutcher and mila kunis letters - idk if you've seen more about it, but among standard he's a good guy stuff, they emphasized how much he's anti drugs and how that makes him a good person apparently, as if he didn't drug his victims. and it doesn't seem likw they even try to deny he did commit rape, just like, he shouldn't go to jail. just appalling. and i saw a video of ashton and mila talking how the letters weren't supposed to be public, to paraphrase a tweet - they didn't think they were gonna get caught.
Shameful
I hate most video " essays" but I saw this really interesting one in Ashton Kutchers I'm a good guy act. He knows exactly what Danny was accused of and even filmed something with him
You're right they didn't think they'd be caught and the church of Scientology was well aware of what Danny was doing .
His crimes are gut wrenching. He's such an animal

Ashton Kutcher resigns from anti-child sex abuse organisation amid Masterson controversy
Ashton Kutcher resigns from anti-child sex abuse organisation amid Masterson controversy Ashton Kutcher has shared that he has resigned from his position at an anti-child sex abuse organization after facing severe backlash and then apologizing for supporting a now-convicted rapist, his The 70s Show co-star Danny Masterson. Ashton and his wife, Mila Kunis, sent letters to the judge in support of…

#15!
I’m so incredibly sorry, I completely missed this between porn bot spam dating back to the dark days!
Favourite Movie: difficult to answer because my attention span averages on that of a sparrow on crack, but I have a handful of movies I turn to when I’m in need of comfort!
- My neighbour Totoro (which Siri steadfastly attempts to correct to My Neighbour Toronto, which gives the whole thing an unfortunate postmodern American vibe instead of the overall wholesome children’s movie)
- the 1999 cinematic masterpiece with Brendan Frazer and Rachel Weisz, which has also served as a rude bisexual and monsterfucker awakening to a yet uncounted number of people in my and the previous generation. I am talking about The Mummy
- Star Trek (AOS) (McSpirk is strong in that one, ngl)
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnessss but with that delightfully grunge exterior and the excruciating existential dread — also, never forget, such a WEAK anti-Russian propaganda film. It‘s like they didn’t even try.)
- The Addams Family (I‘m just a modern woman trying to have it all)
- Sharknado. (Sharks and Tornadoes. Need I say more?)
- Jupiter Ascending (Channing Tatum‘s stunning bare forearms and also Eddie Redmayne‘s portrayal of insanity. And Mila Kunis.)
- that one documentary about birds of paradise narrated by Sir David Attenborough. Actually any nature documentary narrated by Sir David Attenborough, much to the chagrin of my colleagues who will be forced to watch me listen to a series of movies for 11-13 hours
- the 007 franchise — dumb spy movies with overused tropes and thinly veiled political messages just hit different. My favourite out of those has to be Octopussy because it is so hilariously over the top.
- Glass Onion & Knives Out: tired detective meets a convoluted murder plot — also known as: the ones where I actually learned to adore Daniel Craig as an actor. Yes of course there was that one Vodka ad but the Knives Out Mysteries really brought home the point that Craig is a fantastic actor
- Ocean‘s 8: gentlemen thieves and spies but played by beautiful women, also biting commentary on the role and perception of women in modern society. I wouldn’t call it a feminist film at all but it certainly is fun and it does at least mention why it sucks to be a woman in a man‘s world
- Transformers (mostly because the soundtrack is just… Steve Jablonsky really put his Jablonskussy into that one. Mein God. Also I am a simple creature — big trucks/ cars and big booms do create one hell of a good time)
- of course the time-honoured classic shortfilm on YouTube Kung Fury
#ask a plant#again my apologies for the late answer#tumblr doesn’t always deem it necessary to show me all the inbox msgs#also take this list with a grain of salt#most of these aren’t objectively good movies#they‘re tied to good times tho

Hi! Can you give a bit of context on what happened with DJR and KR? I'm curious on why there are people saying they should not continue in the show. Ty!
They both, along with Ashton and Mila, wrote letters asking for leniency for Danny Masterson in a court of law, following his rape conviction. Ashton's is the worst, very explicitly asking for such. Minus Kurtwood, the other three tried to paint him as a good person because he's anti drugs...which, what? Even hard drugs aren't as bad as rape. Duh.
Thus, they need to be held accountable for their actions. Ashton and Mila are being shunned and blacklisted, and Debra Jo and Kurtwood should be receiving the same treatment. But instead, they're being rewarded with another season of That 90s Show, with both of them at the helm. It's disgusting.
