There came a point where Danny realized his future dreams could never be accomplished while he's protecting this city. Especially now that everyone knows how to contact him.

More Danny Phantom thoughts

Okay so, the GIW and Danny’s suit. I know that the GIW show up way later and probably were not a thought at the time, but it’s… interesting that Danny’s suit, before it got color inverted and then—disappeared from his human form?—, it was white then, with black details. It’s noticeably different from his parents, yes, but ALSO different from the ones Jack put aside for Jazz. So why was the one Danny grabbed white? (I mean, other than aesthetic.)

Was it just an undyed (ha) jumpsuit? Do the dyes do anything for ecto protection? Did the GIW exist before hand and supplied some of the things the Fentons had in their lab? And some stories like to say that Maddie and Jack majored in ecto biology—so who established that? Or was it paranormal studies, which irl is an offshoot of psychology (at least in the educational sphere)? Because THATS an interesting angle for Jazz actually.

Further, let’s say Danny, as Phantom, says that ah yeah, his clothes are what he died in just color reversed, so go be fashion aware because it might become your ghost outfit forever! He’s probably joking, especially as we know ghost outfits CAN change without the convoluted mess with Sam and Desiree.

And so while they don’t think to apply that to his face and hair, for whatever reason you wanna give, but they note that this meant he was wearing all white.

And, you know, those GIW… are QUITE fixated on Phantom. And ghosts weren’t a well known phenomenon before then, so. How did they study ghosts? How did they study death?

… and, who was Phantom before he was Phantom?

But what about Space Exploration Obsession Danny?

Danny who got his Obsession because it was a mix of his two biggest interests at the time: Space and Mechanics

Danny who is just building increasingly larger models of space shuttles/rovers until they’re barely models anymore

Danny who feels a kinship with Oppy, who Just Knows what NASA and other space programs are achieving at any given time

Danny who knows when an astronaut or rover/satellite is in danger and has to stop himself from flying there at the speed of sound to help

Danny that just…floats through space sometimes, when everything gets too much

Maybe he floats by the watchtower, or he sees thanos coming

I Can Still Hear His Voice

Dani likes to travel, rarely staying in one place for too long.

But Danny worries for her being by herself especially with how young she is it doesn't matter how old she physically looks,

So Danny likes to drop by and spend time with her, but to not overly interfere with her adventures and the people around her, he tends to make sure he's always invisible to everyone and only talks to her in Ghost Speak.

So no one around him but Dani can tell he's even there.

Dani not caring about how it would look like for other people tends to interact with Danny just like anyone else.

To other people it looks like she's speaking to thin air, kinda in the same way a young child does with an imaginary friend.

Dani tends to jokingly refer to Danny as dad, with all his nagging and mother hen self.

People think Dani did not cope well with the death of her dad and these are the results.

Dani and Danny are just having fun exploring new places and meeting new people.

DPxDC prompt idea thing #11

Danny had always admired and looked up to the Green Lantern Corps. He grew up hearing and reading about the adventures of the original Green Lantern, and was always eager to see John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and all of the other Green Lanterns tasked with protecting their sector on the news, no matter how scary the threat they were tasked to go against.

As a little kid, Danny wanted to grow up to be a Green Lantern, just like his heroes! But as he got older and learned more about the job, he thought that he should set his sights a little lower. There were, what? 8 billion people on Earth, and through some freak coincidence, how many Green Lanterns were chosen here from here? Danny highly doubted that the Guardians of the Universe were looking to recruit any more humans from Earth to the Corps. But that was fine. He may not be able to be in the Green Lantern Corps, but he COULD still strive to be an astronaut and to explore space, traveling through the perils of the final frontier to help the Earth learn more about this universe they lived in and shared! And with the Watchtower in orbit, while Danny highly doubted that he would ever be a hero like the Green Lanterns, he might be able to work alongside them!

So imagine Danny's surprise when, as the result of one small accident, he now had superpowers where his eyes shone green and where he could shoot beams of green light from his hands. Sure, he was no Green Lantern. He probably would never be one given his luck and willpower. But he was damn close!

I could go on and on about how much I personally love shifting Danny's focus of wanting to be an astronaut to wanting to explore the Zone-- and wanting to explore and appreciate his own world just as much.

Having this massive wanderlust in his heart and core that is so thoroughly satiated by having a realm of infinite possibilities at his fingertips.

Having a newfound love and respect for the material world and every inch of life within it.

Each a part of him, his home and haunt.

The symbolism of a desire to explore the vast emptiness of space in life, flipped with the desire to stay grounded and make the most of everything the world has to offer in death.

I have a lot of feelings about this.

Looking for a dp x dc prompt

does anyone know about that one dp x dc prompt where the justice league finds a natural portal to the realms in space?

hal and co (some astronauts) go through and explore and encounter danny. danny doesn’t want to go into their ship without permission so he taps on the glass whilst invisible. which leads to them (hal and co) being frightened.

I literally just saw the post and proceeded to accidentally click off. So if I can get the link of said prompt, I’ll be extremely grateful. 😭

I was discussing this with @djbunnie recently. But I was thinking about what I’d do if I were to do a redo of DP. But really this is mostly how I’d make Sam better.

Before I get further, I want to make a disclaimer: this idea would include Danny and Sam being endgame. They would be together in the end. However before that would happen, Danny and Valerie would actually have a relationship. They would be an established couple but they’d ultimately have an amicable break up. But they would have been together for 2 years I’m thinking?

This redo would also include bits and pieces of some of my earlier DP posts.

That said, let’s get into it.

So we would just ignore the entire third season and Phantom Planet. Let’s just get that out of the way.

The series would have go through several years of their lives.

Sam and Tucker would be a lot more fleshed out and go through character development. We would see more about the significant characters personalities and likes and dislikes.

First, Sam. Given how political Punk is, I’d make Sam more Punk than goth, tbh. Sam being political just makes sense. She still would be filthy rich, beyond anyone’s imaginations rich. But she uses that wealth and reputation to help marginalized groups and speak in injustices. She would also acknowledge her own wealth and privilege. I’d explore more about how she is athletic and her writing and her love of anime and manga, and her art.

Yes she would start out as looking down or just really disliking girly things. And this does stem from her mother putting her down for not being her picture perfect daughter. However she’d also have Grandma Ida to humble her. Sam wouldn’t hate girly girls themselves. Just that society will promote that image as being the way girls should be. But she’d look down things so much that it’s actually problematic. But she’d outgrow it .

And like my earlier posts about cringe Sam liking mediocre guys and saying dumb edgy things like “you laugh because I’m different, I laugh because you’re all the same”

But she also would be the one to put her foot down and say “no, Danny, you’re not going to risk and you’re going to be an astronaut” and along with Tucker and Jazz’s help, she’d help him study, make study guide and flash cards.

Another thing I’d explore is her feeling guilty over Danny being Phantom. This is guilt that eats at her but she refuses to discuss it because she knows Danny would tell her not to worry about it.

And in a way, Sam is doing this because she feels she deserves to wallow in that guilt. Almost like she’s punishing herself.

Sam was just done such a great injustice.

Tucker. Tucker would also go through significant development and we would also see more of his personality and likes and dislikes. I’d describe his character development to be much like Sokkas from A:TLA.

Tucker is a whiz when it comes to tech and computer related subjects.

Sorry I don’t have much more to say about him.

Sam and Tucker both take on bigger roles in helping to fight the ghosts. Much bigger.

For episodes like the Lunch meat episode, Sam would have just advocated for better vegetarian options and a salad bar. And when the school asks where they can get the funds to do so, she’d just be “I’m glad you asked”

She’d still think meat is murder and that they should use robotic or virtual frogs for dissections but again, she’s a work in progress.

When Danny and Val are dating, she’s obviously heartbroken. She asks Ida for advice. Ida tells her while she gets her pain, that she shouldn’t be one of those girl best friends who is mean to their best friend’s girlfriend or violates boundaries. Especially since she has feelings for him. That if she cares for Danny, then she would want him to be happy even if that means standing aside. And so, she does. She’s kind and friendly and respectful to Valerie. In fact she even gives Valerie some gift ideas that would be so meaningful for Danny. In the beginning, Sam even tells Valerie that she knows that Val knows about her crush. But she swears that she will never make a move or disrespect her or her relationship with Danny. And that if ever Val needs her to back off, she will. As long as it’s respectful.

This actually winds up being a bonding moment for Sam and Tucker because he helps her cope with her heartbreak. This relationship between them is platonic. They come to see each other as siblings. And that includes acting like siblings and being shits to each other and pissing each other off.

Oh and of course, the series would be more mature. They would act like teens and they would also engage in more mature behavior as their grow older.

There would also be more hilarity with trying to hide Danny’s secret (I’ve made a post about this).

And there would be darker moments as well.

We would also explore more of the Ghostzone itself. The lore, the science. What are ghosts. Where did non human ghosts come from. Who and what is clockwork and were did he come from. More on the ghosts’ backstories. Their lives when they were still alive. Just all that

Sam is the one who is the nurse of the group. Even for Valerie, once her and Danny begin to date. Sam can get all the medical supplies they need. She is also gentle and can do great stitches and has a steady hand and isn’t squeamish. She’s patching up everyone .

Oh and Sam and Valerie would become best friends. Even though at a point, Val would be Danny’s Ex and Sam his gf he winds up marrying. They would be best friends.

Look. DxS is my OTP and they’ll be endgame. But I think I’d want them to have more of a Ron and Kim vibe. With subtle hinting of the feelings they have.

Let’s explore DxV. Well, I think it would come to a point that Danny just realizes he needs to confess to her. He tells her the truth and while she needs to take a step back for a moment, she is able to think it through and she comes to Danny. They talk things out and decide to hang out to just clear things and get rid of those tensions. And they decide to date. They date I’m thinking atleast sophomore and junior years. They go through significant firsts together. Like serious relationship, that first time and so on. But ultimately they end things amicably because they outgrew each other and differing goals and all that. They remain friendly and respectful of each other

Sam herself goes on a few dates here and there but I really picture Sam as someone who is demisexual. She only becomes attracted to a person after she gets to know them. She actually winds up having a significant relationship with a guy who is actually on the football team but he kinda always just was there, when it came to the popular kids. He was just there because he too played football but he didn’t really interact with them and never was a bully. He and Sam start to date after they work on a project together. They date from junior year and into Senior year but break up amicably. They don’t want to do the long distance thing and have different goals and desires for the long term

Danny and Sam after high school begin to hang out more than before. Or more like they used to. Now Danny is living that college life and doing the typical hook ups. Sam isn’t because she’s not into it. And she is at a point where she knew Danny is gonna be hooking up and she’s indifferent. But they’re having out more and more and it’s nice and oh. Hey. Hello feelings for each other my old friend.

If you ever watched scrubs, the way Jake and Elliott get (back) together in later seasons, that’s basically what happens with them.

Ghost!Robin Part 4

Here's your next part of the Ghost!Robin fic for WIP Wednesday. I'm gonna start putting fic designation in the title field rather than WIP Wednesday because I think it makes it easier to read.

Also, everyone came out in numbers for last week's segment! Damn! Thank you and I'm glad so many of you are enjoying this little fic of mine. We'll probably get one more week of this before I go back to Bring Me Home, but it'll depend what I feel like. I want to rework some of what I have written next.

Tim asked more details on the specs of the PDA which Danny happily answered. The things he built with Tucker were always his favorite inventions.

“So are you in school to become an engineer or something?” asked Dick who’d gotten Damian calmed down and sitting. The boy had gotten his knife back and was spinning it in his hands. Bruce seemed to be fondly exacerbated by the scene. Robin had pulled out a ghostly weapon and was trying to copy Damian’s movements, though he wasn’t quite as adept.

Danny shook his head to Dick’s question. “Nah. Hard to get into engineering school when you fail high school.” Danny narrowed his eyes as Damian’s mouth opened, but Dick whispered in his ear again and the boy didn’t say anything.

“I ended up dropping out of high school and getting a GED,” said Tim. “It can work just as well.”

Robin was nodding along and pointing at himself, too. Had he died before he could complete his schooling, too?

“I’m sure. It’s just not a priority for me right now. I don’t need one for my job and I can’t become an astronaut because of my accident when I was fourteen.”

Dick was nodding, but Tim looked confused and asked, “Fourteen? I thought you had your accident when you were older?”

“Why would you think that?” Had he or Jazz made any reference to when his accident was? “No, it happened when I was fourteen. A few weeks before I started my freshman year of high school.

Before Tim could ask anything else, Steph called out from the other side of the room. “Did you say you wanted to be an astronaut? Totally awesome. What made you pick that?”

“I honestly don’t know why everyone doesn’t want to be astronauts! Space is so cool. We can learn so much about the universe by studying it in closer detail. And with how many aliens are now living at least part time on Earth, it only makes sense to explore and see what else might be out there.”

Bruce nodded at him. “I am sorry you aren’t able to become one.”

Danny just waved a hand in the air. “I came to terms with it a long time ago. And my current job is fine. Might not be what I would’ve chosen, but I’ve made it work for me.” Deciding he should change the subject before someone had the brilliant idea to ask more about his accident or job, he asked, “So what is for dinner, anyway? You’ve all talked about how amazing the food is, but what are we having?”

Someone tried to speak up, but Jason held up a hand. “I’m the one who helped Alfie cook. Demon-brat is vegetarian so we have a vegetarian curry. If you like meat, there’s a prime rib roast. Then a half dozen different sides—vegetables, rice, potatoes. Huge salad with all the fixings and a dozen different dressings to choose from. And dessert after.”

“Damn, that sounds amazing. I haven’t had a good home cooked meal in ages, so I’ve been looking forward to this.”

“Has your Grandpa been keeping you that busy?” asked Jazz.

“That, but also getting things in order to take this evening off. There’s just been a lot. I’m spending the night at yours, by the way.”

“I’d be offended if you didn’t.”

Danny knew he could rely on Jazz.

“Ooh, do you have any good stories about Jazz as a kid?” asked Jason.

Laughing, Danny said, “So many! But I don’t think we’ll be able to get to those tonight. I’ve a feeling you’ll be interested in other things by that point.” At his words, Robin grinned and pointed at himself. Danny gave him a slight nod to confirm that yes, they’d be talking about him.

Before Jason could ask for clarification, Alfred came in to announce dinner was ready.

Robin cheered and flew over to sit on Alfred’s shoulders, hand extended, to lead the way to the dinning room. Danny couldn’t hold back the chuckle and Jazz shot him a look which he ignored.

“There better be a place setting for you, Alfie!” called Jason as they followed.

“You made your opinion quite clear, Master Jason. And as I wish to meet your young lady and her brother as well, I have set myself a plate at the main table.”

Tim leaned over to whisper to Danny. “Alfred considers his role as butler very important. He rarely eats with the rest of us unless we join him in the kitchen.”

Danny nodded to show he understood, but had no idea how to actually reply to that. It seemed needlessly complicated.

Once they made it to the dining room, Danny grinned as Robin did a flip off of Alfred’s shoulders and landed sitting down on one of the place settings facing the associated chair. He bit his cheek to keep from laughing as Jason sat down at that same place. Jazz took a seat next to him and Danny sat to her other side. Dick ended up sitting next to him.

The scents of all the food wafting off the table made his mouth water and he closed his eyes just to breathe it in. “This smells amazing. Thanks Alfred. And Jason.”

Even Robin had moved to look over every dish, reaching out a hand to try and take something and sighing when he just phased through it.

Even Jazz looked a bit overwhelmed at the quantity of food. “This is so much effort. You didn’t have to do all this just for Danny and me.”

Bruce smiled at her. “It is so rare for all of us to be together for dinner so we make a spectacle of it any time it happens. And this is the first time Jason has ever brought anyone with him which makes it an even bigger event.”

Danny nudged her. “So, Jazz, what’s it like living with someone who can cook?”

Jason laughed. “Jazz isn’t allowed in the kitchen. You know, I caught her grabbing my chef’s knife before going into the fridge the other day!”

Danny furrowed his brow. “Of course she did. It’s a fridge.”

“Wait, is that a family trait? Why do you grab a knife to open the fridge? There’s gotta be a good story behind that.”

Before Danny could make the obvious statement regarding attacking food, Jazz elbowed him. “We’ll tell you later. It has to do with our parents and that’s a large topic and not one we should get into now.”

Before Danny could ask any questions about what the big deal was, Dick nudged him. “Which do you want—curry or beef?”

Omake

Ignoring all of it, Danny shook his head and answered Dick. “Nah. Hard to get into college when you fail high school and are legally dead.”

Multiple people, including Jason, exclaimed at that statement and he looked to Jazz.

“Did Jazz not tell you about that? Our parents swear they saw my ghost and had me declared legally dead. I was missing at the time so the coroner agreed. Sighting the ghost of a missing person is all you need to confirm death in Amity.”

Under her breath, Jazz added, “You were only missing because they had you.”

Danny elbowed her and quietly chirped a Safe now.

Bruce was no longer smiling and was looking at Danny with narrowed eyes. “Your parents had you declared dead.”

“Yeah. It’s fine, though. I’ve an amazing doctor if I get into trouble. My grandfather is watching out for me. I’m financially stable. My partners are able to rent an apartment large enough for all three of us. I have other places to stay when I’m traveling. Honestly, it doesn’t impact my life all that much. Just means I’m not gonna go to college. And only reason I wanted to go to college was to be an astronaut, but my health makes that impossible.”

“Hn…” Bruce hummed.

And Danny had no idea what that meant, but Robin was now laughing, and Dick was exchanging grins with Tim, and Steph and Cass were whispering together. Damian was glaring at him even harder, blade hilt gripped in his hand. These people were strange.

Danny looked over at Jazz who shrugged. Jason was glaring at Bruce and said, “Don’t you dare.”

“Look, it’s really not a big deal. I know it’s kinda a messed up situation, but ghosts are generally treated really well in Amity. As well as any living human, at least. So long as you avoid the Guys in White and my parents that is. So outside of interactions with them, nothing has changed.”

“If you are ever in need of a place to stay or a meal or anything, you’ll have a room here,” offered Bruce.

Robin landed on Danny’s shoulders and was sending out happy-celebrate feelings. Steph handed Cass a few bills. Tim and Dick mimed giving each other fist bumps. Jason put his head in his hands and groaned. Duke was grinning at them all.

Damian half stood and said, “Father—!”

But Dick was at his side and pulling him back down to the couch with an arm around his shoulders, hand over his mouth, and whispering into his ear before he could do more than say the one word.

“Seriously, it’s not a big deal.” Trying to think of anyway to change the subject, he asked, “So what’s for dinner, anyway?”

The celebration post for 100 followers will be going out in another day or two! I've just had a really busy few weeks and didn't do as much writing as I was hoping for. But I hope to finish writing today and then I'll just take a few hours to edit.

Glitch in Time replacing Phantom Planet

A Glitch in Time could definitely replace Phantom Planet in the canon timeline with frankly easy changes. Danny’s powers wane because he’s lost passion and purpose once everyone has Fentontech to hunt ghosts? Dan (hereafter called Dante) comes back because Vlad wanted time travel? Major lore dump leading to emotional growth and a set goal for Danny? We can work with this as either a season 3 ending or season 4 opening.

Danny wants to be an astronaut. It’s the visual thematic consistency in his bedroom, it’s the only thing his mother remembers in the episode about her wanting to bond with him and reminiscing about the time when he told her ‘everything,’ and it’s likely the first or second reason he cares so much about his grades and about earning them. (The other reason being his desperation for his parents’ approval and the way the Fentons tie value to intelligence.)

Being a ghost hunting hero is nice and all but it consumes his every waking moment and cuts into his sleep. He can’t study because he’s hunting ghosts; he can’t sleep because a ghost escaped the lab right as he drifted off; he can’t finish a test or a class both because he’s exhausted and underprepared and because he’s off fighting ghosts who pop up in the middle of the fucking day, too, and if he’s quick and good enough about it then his teachers aren’t sympathetic because far as they’re concerned nothing really happened besides Danny ditching class.

Danny’s actual passion in life, what fuels his spirit, is slipping through his fingertips and it kills him, and it’s beginning to kill his powers. He’s getting weaker and weaker, forcing his parents, Valerie, Jazz Sam and Tuck, and even the GIW to pick up his slack, but only he, Jazz, Sam, and Tucker are even vaguely humane about the treatment of ghosts so that’s unacceptable! What if one of them catches Cujo?

Danny’s powers are failing him because his passion in/for life is fleeing him and his spirit is running out of fuel. Sam, and Tucker point out that even if Danny doesn’t have the grades to make it into Nasa, he could start a space exploration branch of Fentonworks. The Specter Speeder™️ works in 0G after all, and the Fenton Bazooka™️ can open short term portals between Earth and the Spirit world for more rapid travel to the moon and beyond. It can surely be modified for intra-dimensional travel. Danny laments that the conflict between Ghosts and Humans will keep him away from space for the rest of his life.

Vlad has decided to track down Clockwork, Master of Time, so he can go back and fix his life. If he could just find out what’s in Ecto-Dejecto and use it to stabilize his “perfect” clone; if he could go back and properly sweet talk Daniel into joining him; if he could go back and stop his accident from happening in the first place or at least change the part of it that left him with ecto-acne! If if if!

He barges in, he makes his demands, Clockwork tells him to fuck off in riddlespeak. They fight, but before Clockwork decides that it’s time for Hax since Vlad is pretty powerful, Vlad knocks Clocky into the pedestal holding Dan’s thermos. The thermos falls and the pedestal lands on just enough of it to break the thing.

Dante is free.

Clockwork is horrified, and confused about the fact that he didn’t see this coming. That split second of shock is all Dante needed to phase into Clockwork, pushing Overshadowing to and beyond its limits and absorbing the Master of Time into himself. This horrifying abomination violently destabilizes the timeline simply by existing, and just like that the end of everything

Jazz, Jack, Maddie and Valerie, along with the local army’s worth of GIW agents, face off against Dante while The Trio and Vlad go to his mansion for a map/clue to ultimate power in the Spirit World. They note Vlad is Still cloning Danny and Danny at minimum should worry that since Vlad could very easily get Jack to tell him what’s in the ecto-dejecto, the clone is likely stable.

Ghost squad go through everything at Pariah’s Keep, time jump shenanigans included, and discover the lore secrets of the Spirit World.

Along the way, Vlad comments on how he could’ve taught Danny so much about holding onto his powers and Danny remarks that if Vlad had let go of his bitterness toward the only person in the world who actually cares about him and obsession over a woman who made her choice in marrying Jack, he’d’ve been a beloved part of Danny’s family and life.

Danny and Vlad both gain a boost from learning they aren’t freaks but are in fact the way nature intends people to be.

Danny concludes that if he can bring harmony between the Spirit World and Earth, he won’t have to keep all of his focus on defending them from each other. Resolute in his decision to be the bridge between worlds, Danny’s power is restored and boosted beyond his previous limits.

The amped HalfGhost duo faces off against Dante and defeats him with violence and the power of friendship. Clockwork is removed from Dante, tosses him into one of the clone bodies, and sets about repairing the several Realms destroyed by their battle.

Vlad returns to his home to find the half-ghost son he always wanted - the clone isn’t truly a clone, made with half of Danny’s genes and half of Vlad’s, the perfect vessel for Dante - and Danny resolves to tell his parents the truth.

Danny had always loved space. As a kid, he  had dreamed of being an astronaut. But after the portal, he wouldn't be able to pass the health exams.

But Dann consoled himself by watching the stars every night. With his ice core, the cold didn’t affect him so he wav able to lay on the roof late into the night even in the winter.

At first he’d only spend about an hour every night. Then one hour became two, became three, then he was spending practically all night looking at the stars.

But it was fine. Sure, he liked looking at the stars, but he wasn’t obsessed. It’s not an obsession if he can keep it under control. Right?

But pretty soon, he found himself not sleeping at all at night which led to him falling asleep in his classes and struggling more with his ghost fights. But it was fine. He had it under control. He could stop whenever he wanted to. 

And on cloudy days, he could just fly above the cloud level to see the stars. And they were so much brighter the closer he got.

So instead of lying on the roof, he’d fly up into the sky and see the stars. And he found himself flying higher and higher as he discovered he didn’t actually need to breathe.

And there was nothing wrong with flying just a little higher. Then just a little more. He wasn’t obsessed, the stars were just clearer the farther up he went.

And he was already at the edge of the atmosphere, it wouldn’t do any harm to venture into actual space.

Flying to space at night didn't hurt anyone. He just wanted to see the stars free from pollutants.

Just for a little bit.

Just for a little bit longer.

Just a little bit farther away.

He could control it. He could stop whenever he wanted.

And look, the moon was so close. He could be the first ghost on the moon.

And wasn’t the moon just lovely. No one had ever really explored the moon on foot before. 

He just wanted a quick look.

He could get to the moon and back before morning.

And since he didn’t have school on the weekends, it didn’t do any harm to explore on the weekends.

Just a little bit more.

Just a little bit longer.

He’d just go over this one last hill. Well one more wouldn’t hurt. That crater was just right there, it wouldn’t take long to explore.

Mars just looked so close. It was summer vacation, no one would miss him.

Just a little farther.

Just a little more.

He wasn’t obsessed, he could go back to Earth whenever he wanted.

So I just read Danny Phantom: A Glitch in Time and...it was ok

Had this come out when I was a kid and just watched Ultimate Enemy I would have gone absolutely feral over it

this show came out in 2004 so not quite sure how to feel about the updated technology IMO it would have been cool to have a time capsule of the show than the common floating timeline you see in comics

unlike with DC graphic novels you can tell the person that wrote this is actually a fan of the show and not a rando corporate pick the plot is plausible and the characters stay in character

A loyal tribute that brings in new lore and character growth

it also retcons the hated movie Phantom Planet

And it leaves enough to be curious for the sequel

People either seem to love it saying it's a good continuation the more serious take they wanted or hate it saying they're tired of villains being complex and redeemable and not pure evil anymore and the plot seems too much like tumblr fanfiction

Danny just forgets humans are the ghosts in the Ghost Zone (in line with how often he forgets what powers he has)

Vlad is such a loser he keeps getting his shit kicked

The Ghost Zone and human world were split in half an unnatural divide 

Danny is still a C student (io don't think he's going to be an astronaut)

They figured out all ghosts run on some emotional drive or purpose  

Danny realizes his purpose is protection but now there’s no longer the monster of the week threat or his parents he never asked himself what he wanted 

Now instead of constant fighting he’ll help the ghost achieve their desires they just want to keep doing in death what they did in life and heal the rift 

Fight for control Clockwork 

Vlad finally grew as a person realizing it was his action and drive for power that drew everyone away and has making amends as his new purpose 

Dan just doesn’t want to be alone (makes sense the “no more painful human emotions” +Vlad’s anger and abandonment issues so he’s all the emotions and pain) 

Dan is destabilizing flashing back to his pre Dark child form because he’s a being outside his destroyed timeline  

Danny is the GOAT 

Clockwork needs to fix what he can of the time streams and Danny has two choices Post Disasteroid+no powers or Pre Disasteroid+powers  

Danny gives up being accepted so he can fix the realms “I’m Danny Phantom, proctor of humans and ghosts!” 

They are back to being invisible losers and Sam is just happy goths aren’t popular anymore 

The city doesn’t know how they avoided the Disasteroid but the Mayor declares ghosts are responsible for everything the city will now have a branch of ghost hunters and Danny Phantom is again public enemy #1 

Clockwork transfers Dan from Vlad into one of the empty clones he’s Vlad’s responsibility now he’ll be too busy to help again 

Clockwork’s powers are finite (so he isn’t omnipotent and all powerful) but he still feels something wrong in the stitches he feels weaker now 

And Valerie has a Time Medallion and is pissed (but there was a Valerie in the crowd at the Mayor’s speech so the two Valeries might meet up in the sequel)  

Jazz is ecstatic she was right about ghosts being emotions based

Abt ur au danny poll, can we have some hints as to what direction u would take for each career? Like for singer, what genre of music would he do/what would his songs be about? characters he would play in shows or movies? And would he be a runway model or model clothes to be photographed / be an influencer?

Or let us know if his career is just a side thing that's not super important to the au 😅

So there are a couple different directions each type of AU could go. It's one of the reasons why I'm asking in the first place, because there are already so many versions, at least this way I can narrow it down to one, you know? XD

But for a Singer!AU, I could have it go in one of two ways. In LL's Ascent I do headcanon that Danny can sing really high notes thanks to his Wail, and it would likely carry over onto this fic. So this means he could technically do more vocal-based genres, like ballads. But I have been told he could totally rock... well, the rock genre, which I do think would be more his style since he canonically listens to Dumpty Humpty in the show.

As for Actor!AU, I did make a post about this a while back, which you can find here. In that post, Danny was more of a newer actor, that was brought in to play a young Bruce Wayne for a biopic, short-series. However, I do really like the idea of Danny being a childhood actor that stopped acting when he realized he wanted to be an astronaut, but after The Accident, he realized he never could be so he went back to acting. This kind of AU does have the added advantage of one of the Batkids having a huge baby crush on him when they were all little, so when he comes back, they are having the time of their life.

For the Model!AU, he would probably be more like a runway model, because I cannot imagine he would enjoy being an influencer. Of course, we could always mix a Model and Actor!AU since a lot of famous actors/actresses do get brand deals. There are also brand ambassadors, which- if you're famous enough- you could also have. If you don't know what that is, usually it means you wear your brand's clothes to all major events to promote the company.

I did already have an idea for this AU, which is: At some point in his career, Danny gets pressured to do shirtless or topless shots, and Danny- who is heavily scarred- keeps fighting it until one day the paparazzi manages to catch a shot of him without his shirt on and blasts it across the internet. So now he has to deal with the fallout from that. And in this case, since this is a crossover, that would prompt the attention of a great deal of heroes, who are concerned why a supposed civilian has that many scars. So that would be an interesting storyline to explore.

Since this is a social media fic, this mostly controls how the story is set-up and how the characters (and perhaps chosen ship) meet each other. So while the overarching storyline is probably not going to be all about his (possible) fame and career, it is a deciding factor in how the fic will look. I don't want this to be solely a social media, I would like for there to be prose interspersed with the social media, but depending on the AU, it might not be long enough to make happen. So choose wisely!

This got really long, but I have a lot to say about these AUs XD I hope this helped somewhat!

Even more Danny Phantom headcanons and Pink Astronaut headcanons.

Danny Fenton was mostly rasied by his sister Jazz. His parents barely pay attention to him. And when they do they're either overcompensating and being suffocating or they compare him to Jazz. It gets worse the older he gets, and more worse when he becomes Phantom.

Growing up Danny spent a lot of time over at Tuckers house. They've known each other since they were babies.

No point in calling the cops on the Fentons for anything because they have serious government funding. Anything that's serious gets sweeped under the rug when it involves them.

Sam moved to Amity park because she got kicked out of a boarding school for stalking(and harassing) boy who didn't like her back and was her friend. Her parents manage to pay the school off and the boys parents. This is Sam's big dark secret. She gets jealous and possessive very easily. She has issues, trouble letting go and dislikes anyone who disagrees with her.

Danny before the accident got good grades. Not as good as Jazz, but Danny is not stupid. He's good at math and science, and loves art class. Is other classes he got Bs. After the accident he's sleeping in all his classes. Skipping school. Or getting to class late. His grades of course are affected. Danny's still smart. And once a few people know. Things get better.

Danny still sees space. He may not be able to be an astronaut. But he gets to see space and the stars. Mostly because he becomes the ghost king.

Danny didn't want to be ghost king but he eventually does accept the title.

Danny sees clockwork as a father figure/grandfather figure.

Danny's relationship with Paulina is complicated at first because she only knows and loves one part of him. But she does eventually finds out and accepts all of him.

Danny when he grows up fully comes into his power and goes into his roll of ghost king. But he explores space, watches the ghost zone, protects amity park( though now as the ghost king it doesn't need as much guarding) hangs out with his family(Jazz, Ellie, Paulina, Tucker, Clockwork) later starts a life with Paulina.

Danny has always loved space and everything having to do with it. The stars, the moon, the planets the sun. Galaxies and blackholes. Rockets going into space, and the astronauts who go up there.

Paulina loves stars and meteors because of being able to make wishes on them.

Most of the (the little and not always right) knowledge Paulina has of space comes from the sailor moon anime and manga.

Sam hates sailor moon and most anime. She mostly reads a lot Stephen King. But is also a secret Twilight fan.

Sam only develops a crush on Danny after he has ghost powers/after she killed him. She likes his undead appearance and how he's cool now in her eyes. She gets a secret thrill that only she (and Tucker but she doesn't think about that) knows about Danny's full identity.

Tucker doesn't really like Sam. He especially doesn't like her after killing his best friend(twice. One by accident one on purpose).

Tucker is actually really a genius if he applied himself and wasn't just focused on tech and computers, code hacking. Smart enough to skip a couple grades even. But he could never leave his best friend behind.

Tucker owns so much tech and knows so much about it because his parents work in a computer company that creates iphones and laptops/ipads.

Tucker's favorite movie is the Matrix.

Tuckers parents spoil him a little because he's an only child and was their miracle baby. They had him a lot later in life.

Danny was the one who approached Sam and became her friend when they were all 12. He saw that she was all alone and felt bad for her.

In Danny's darkest thoughts and moments he regrets becoming friends with Sam sometimes. Especially after him and Paulina start dating.

Sam really gets bad after he and Paulina start dating. She gets moody. Possessive, and is constantly trying to sabotage their dates. She doesn't really talk to Tucker at all anymore unless they're in a goup thing with Danny, or just hanging out all together. It gets even more worse when Danny tells Paulina who he really is and it ends up working out.

Write November 2024 23 Isekai | Genre Swap [Tropes]

While wandering in the Ghost Zone, Danny and Chelsea get deposited somewhere new.

During their wanderings of the Ghost Zone, Danny and Chelsea discovered a gaping cave made of craggy gray stone. The odd formation drew Chelsea’s gaze and she floated up to it.

“Careful,” Danny warned, following her. “You never know what you’ll find around here.”

The cave seemed endless. Chelsea didn’t go in but examined the edges. She saw a five-pointed star etched into the wall, and below that, a list of words. She recognized “Earth,” but that was it. The rest were gibberish. And why were there three Earths listed?

She sounded out one of the words, her fingers tracing the letters. “Denduron…”

To her surprise, a light shone inside the cave. With it came harmonious musical notes, like you’d hear from tuning forks. The rocks started to clear like they were made of crystal. She felt a tug that grew stronger with the light and the sounds.

“What did you do?” Danny asked frantically, floating beside her.

“I just read a word,” Chelsea said, pointing. The light was getting so bright they had to shield their eyes, the music notes so cacophonous they had to cover their ears.

“Hurry!” Danny shouted. “I feel it sucking me in!”

“Me, too!” Chelsea replied, but she couldn’t escape the pull. Try as they might, Chelsea and Danny couldn’t fly away. They were trapped.

The bright light flashed, and the two found themselves in a strange tunnel made of crystal-clear rocks. Beyond the rocks were thousands of tiny stars. Were they in outer space? But how? The Ghost Zone didn’t connect to outer space. Or did it? The music notes continued, but now they wooshed past, fading in and out quickly.

“What is this?” Chelsea asked in awe.

“I don’t know…” Danny replied.

Chelsea whipped her head to look at him. “You don’t know?”

“Hey, I’ve only explored a fraction of the Ghost Zone,” Danny said. “This could be anything.”

“Alright, alright,” Chelsea said. “So… what do we do now? Just ride this out and hope for the best?”

“If you want do to that, then fine,” Danny said. “Me, on the other hand, I’m going to bust my way out of here. As… soon as I get my powers working.”

“Your powers aren’t working?” Chelsea asked, alarmed. She tried creating an ectoball to no effect. “Mine aren’t either!”

Danny crossed his arms and frowned. “I hate this floating feeling.”

“But…”

“I know, I know, I float all the time,” Danny said. “But that’s my choice. This isn’t. I don’t like it.”

“You’re just miffed that you can’t blast your way out of here,” Chelsea said with a smirk.

“Aren’t you concerned?” Danny asked.

“Nah,” Chelsea said. “We’re not getting hurt, and it’s pretty. Just relax and enjoy the ride.” She put her hands behind her head and kicked up her feet.

“How can I when we don’t even know where we are?” Danny countered. “Or where we’re going.”

“We’ll figure it out,” Chelsea said. “Just enjoy the view.”

Danny looked up and around. “Yeah, I guess it is pretty.”

They didn’t know how long the ride lasted, but they could tell they were moving fast because of the music notes whizzing by.

After a moment of silence, Danny spoke up. “Have I ever told you that I wanted to be an astronaut growing up?”

“No!” Chelsea said. “It sounds like you gave up on that dream. Why?”

Danny gave her a flat look and motioned to his body.

“Oh, right,” Chelsea said, blushing. “I guess being a ghost puts a damper on things. I don’t know what I wanted to be, other than a princess of course. I never saw a future for myself. No wait, I take it back. I wanted to be a mommy, but that was when I was really young.”

Danny looked away. “Can you… Do you mind telling me how long you were sick?”

“I don’t mind,” Chelsea said. “I was in kindergarten when I had my first seizure, but I wasn’t diagnosed for another two years after that.”

“Did you… always know you were going to die?”

Chelsea tilted her head in thought. “No. I don’t any child knows that. Then my grandpa Parley passed away when I was six. That’s when I learned about death.”

“You know,” Danny said thoughtfully, “my parents have always been obsessed with ghosts, but it wasn’t until I became one that I thought about death.”

“I think we’re at the end,” Chelsea said as the light and music swelled. “Sorry to cut you short–”

The two were deposited gently on their feet. Behind them, the tunnel quieted to a normal cave. They looked around for any sign of where they were, but all they saw was more cave.

“–But I think we’re here,” Chelsea said. “Wherever here is…”

“So… how do we get back to the Ghost Zone?” Danny wondered.

At his words, the tunnel came alive once more. The lights and music started up again, and they felt tugging at their bodies.

“That seemed to do the trick,” Chelsea said. “I wish we could have looked around a bit…”

“I don’t,” Danny said.

“Hey, I think I see someone!” Chelsea said, squinting. She waved. “Hi!” Then the tunnel picked them up and they were on a journey again. “Darn it!”

Bobby Pendragon watched the two figures disappear into the flume. Who were they? Where did they come from? Were they more of the Travelers that Uncle Press told him about? So many questions and no answers. Such was Bobby’s life right now.

Well, I did it again. I mashed Danny Phantom with Pendragon. I hope you enjoyed this little trip through the flume! If you haven’t read Pendragon yet, then you so should! It’s my favorite book series. D.J. MacHale is a huge influence on my writing.

If you want to get into fanfiction you just have to accept that flanderization and popular fan interpretations of characters are something you're going to have to wade through even if you don't like them

I can understand the frustration of some people who get really into something (movie, book, show), and thus try and dive into fandom but then find that a considerable portion of fic has the characters being wildly out of character.

Especially if they find that an extremely popular fanon interpretation of a character, majorly conflicts with how said character is in canon.

For an easy example that's on my mind because it's the 20th anniversary of Danny Phantom, and also dannypocalypse.

Danny Fenton has a number of extremely flanderized fanon interpretations, which all conflict with who he is in canon, and the other fanon versions of him floating around.

A lot of fics will have Danny actually be just as much of a science/math genius as the rest of the Fenton family, and his bad grades are actually entirely due to the fact that he's too busy being Phantom to do anything related to school.

This directly contradicts with the show, which has more than one instance of Danny being so bad at math specifically, that it's completely valid to think he literally has dyscalculia.

Along with there literally being no evidence that Danny has any interest in math or any of the sciences beyond his desire to be an astronaut.

[Which when I learned the requirements for becoming an astronaut, I always thought Danny would be going the 1,000+ hours of pilot-in-command time on a jet aircraft route vs the degrees in a STEM field route. Considering how many hours he apparently put into the shuttle flight simulator already.]

A lot of fics will have Danny be a feral little gremlin kind of character, who does things like bites people, doesn't care how dirty he or his surroundings are, and will eat spoiled food.

Completely unlike Danny in the show. Who in spite of his weird smoothie experiments, refuses weird looking but completely edible food offered to him on more than one occasion. Along with his habit of vacuuming the walls when he cleans.

Then there's the whole Danny as the ghost king characterization, which has no basis in canon. Considering there isn't anything in canon that says the title is won by right of conquest, because we aren't given any information about how Pariah himself became the ghost king, or even if there were ghost kings before him.

Then there's the interpretation of Danny being too noble to use his powers for selfish gain, or commit crimes.

Even though in canon he uses his powers to prank Dash multiple times in the series with no repercussions for most of what he does. Along with being 100% willing to use his powers to cheat the haunted house contest, and also just straight up steal an ancient ghost artifact to make said haunted house scarier.

The thing about fanfiction is that characters are going to be different from what they're like in canon be default for a variety of reasons.

The author is changing the character to suit the story they wanna tell, the author is magnifying a canon trait of a character to explore it more, the author is inverting a character trait to see how that would change the rest of the character's story-

And 80 billion other variations of that idea.

Like I'm sorry if you turned to a bunch of hobbyist writers on the internet who write primarily for their own indulgence in search of more canon quality content, but you're not going to find it in 99.999999999999999% of fics you will ever find.

Sure you might find one specific fic or one specific writer, who you feels absolutely nails how a character acts in canon.

But also, not really, because your own perspective of how that character is supposed to act is tainted by your own opinions about that character.

Or for another example, if you go to the Miraculous fandom...

There's people who genuinely see Marinette as a kind of deranged stalker, and hate her to the point of wanting Adrien to end up with literally any other girl. Including the ones who want to use him for their own gain, like Lila, who doesn't even really like him romantically.

Because they hate Marinette, and want Marinette to suffer losing out to the girl she thinks is a bad person. More than they want Adrien to end up in a happy and functional relationship with a girl who would treat him well.

[Literally, I've seen Marinette haters insist Adrien needed to end up with either Lila or Chloe specifically, because Marinette approves of Kagami and willingly handed Adrien over to her. They want whoever Marinette likes the least to be who Adrien ends up with, even if he wouldn't be treated well by whoever that is.]

And there's people who genuinely see Marinette as the constant victim of unjustified cosmic karma, who would have solved the Hawkmoth thing and won over Adrien ages ago if it weren't for plot contrivances insisted upon by the writers. Who insist upon doing this to keep from solving the love square, to keep the will they/won't they plot going, which is one of the main focuses of the show.
