Danny Elfman Fandom, I have a question:

Are we sure Danny and Bridget are still married?

I was looking at Danny's Insta and the ring he wears on his ring finger is definitely not his wedding band (went back on Google to pics of him and Bridget after they got married and, yeah, it's a completely different ring.)

Also, in the supposedly new photos of Bridget that were released a while back, she isn't wearing a wedding band or an engagement ring.

Also, Danny posted about an "Elf-Gang XMas" last yr and Bridget is neither mentioned nor in any of the pics...

Danny Elfman deserves that benefit. Nomi Abadi has no talent, no case, no proof, no decency, no morality and, from what I’ve heard from those who know those closest to her, not a chance of winning. Hasn’t the last 6 years taken enough movies and shows from people? Enough fandoms and escapes? The last thing we need is to give up this man’s body of work for the likes of a selfish, lying, extortionist hack like Nomi Abadi. Whatever price she has to pay in the end for raising her toxic, inane voice to the world, know that it’ll never, ever be steep enough.

Hey so I don't want to be the one to break this new on here, but it isnt doing much good on my conciousness rn and I really need to let this out.

TW: Sexual Harassment

This article was just published by rolling stone, and I wanted to gently put my thoughts on the matter down.

I am very very shocked and quite upset by this story. This is awful, and it has immeasurably soured my day.

Firstly, I am not going to, nor can I in any capacity, speak to the validity of any of this story. In truth, no one can until a court decision has been reached.

That said, I would like to voice my thoughts on this (very delicate) situation.

1. This situation, and the story told by this article, has a lot of moving parts and unknown variables.

2. I don't think this case can be treated the same way that many similar ones are, if we are to consider the individuals involved. This seems very out of character for Elfman, and while that's no excuse, everything I know of his history and previous behavior makes me question the extent of the allegations. Additionally, his apparent cooperation with the investigation/article is something to further question.

3. This article, while very factual and information-driven, is substantiated mostly by personal sources on the side of Abadi. Not to judge for or against, just something I noted.

4. I am shocked and it feels like my world is crashing down. The closest thing I've ever had to an idol is now embroiled in this and may in fact be guilty. This is tough. Danny Elfman marks, for me, my first moments of self acceptance and celebration of my neurodivergency as well as a plethora of other things. I feel an incredibly close connection to him and to Oingo Boingo, much more than any other band.

5. Again, I can't say if any of this is true or not based on the contents of this article. I am not going on a witch hunt, nor will I aggressively defend a celebrity. I am not choosing a side definitively, and I encourage others to reserve judgement as well.

My immediate bias is on the side of Danny, and amittedly, a part of me can rationalize the allegations if I try. HOWEVER, I SHOULDN'T DO THIS.

I, and we as a fandom, have to remember that this is a real situation, with a real victim. This fandom romanticises and sexualizes this man very much, and I do worry that with that bias it will be difficult to see both sides of the situation.

I am not looking to discuss or deliberate the merits of either side's stories. None of us were in that room, and without moderation I do not want to see this space turn into a 4chan forum.

I am so sorry if you found out this way. As a fan, this breaks my heart.

I might as well repost this twitter thread i did of my thoughts on the whole matter with Danny Elfman. We had an Oingo Boingo / Elfman fixation all throughout 2021-2022, and we've listened to Elfman's scores for years now. I've been a part of this fandom. There are addendums noted like this, (#) full addendums are located at the bottom of this post under the cut. So. The whole Danny Elfman situation. I see people are entirely disowning their interest in Oingo Boingo when there's literally a bunch of other talented people (WHO ARE STILL ALIVE) that were apart of the band and made the band's sound. the frontman isn't the entirety of the band. (1)

Personally, I see nothing wrong with still liking Oingo Boingo. that's fine and alright with me y'know? the allegations are BAD, but I'll just say, I'm neutral at the moment because there's not much evidence for either side yet. (2) The allegations are upsetting but I find myself quite unsurprised. many things can slip through the cracks with celebrities. their status helps them to cover up malicious things they've done. like, even if the allegations are not true, they are VERY believeable. If the allegations wind up being true, this is a lesson for a lot of people. People need to be more wary of celebrities and how they present themselves to the public. because that is an act. we do not truly know how someone is as a person until allegations like these come up. (3)

(#1: Steve Bartek, Johnny Hernandez/Vatos, John Avila, etc.) (#2: I thought it would be appropriate to note that the court case hasn't even been sorted out yet.) (#3: Luckily, we got out of OB and Danny's work and severed our personal attachment at a good time, otherwise we would be completely devastated, instead of just numb. Our view comes from a place of personal experience from making these same mistakes.)

4. So much ( for ) Stardust ( this song is literally SOOO GOOD but also makes me sad cus to me the songs like,,, So much ( for ) Stardom. Like they’d been craving fame like every band but when they got it they were in peak paparazzi stalker era and were like man this is kinda,,,, Bad )

5. Hold me like a Grudge ( ok don’t be mad at me but for whatever reason I had a gut feeling this album was gonna sound generic af but then this song started playing and I was like “ WAIT WAIT HOLD ON WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAAAAAIIT” Luv the guitar/base idk I don’t know music )

Ah, I'm so happy that my posts got you curious about it ✨ (I’m also so sorry for the super late reply, but this week stuff just kept happening and I haven’t had a moment to write anything) Anyway! Thanks for allowing me to indulge in more obnoxious gushing u.u

Favorite thing about her: that she's devoid of any sentimentalism, even if the plot constantly puts her through super angsty scenarios. And that in her character arc of opening up to others and accepting the Mortifying Ordeal of Being Known, this part of her never really changes; she comes to realize that feelings are not necessarily melodramatic, that she can love and love deeply, but always in her own way

Least favorite thing about her: even though I really like the general theme of Thorn’s wounds running too deep to be magically cured by him falling for Ophélie, at times in tome 3 I did wish she wasn’t that accommodating to him. Which, again, is a fundamental point of her personal growth and objectively well done (and he’s like. very much accommodating to her as well), but there are a couple of specific scenes where it rubs me the wrong way a bit, can’t help it

Favorite line: Il n’avait pas le droit!!!! Character thesis statement. Iconique. Also, given that the whole series is her internal monologue, honorary mention to the resolve moment in the final paragraphs of tome 1

brOTP: so many to choose from, so I’ll go with: the scarf. Unironically one of my favorite characters.

OTP: Thorn, of course. I love that they’re one and the same obstinate communication disaster, that he realizes it almost immediately and does nothing at all to shy away from or hide his feelings, while she needs to go through her whole journey to understand and accept this new part of herself. Excited to read in which other way they’ll misunderstand each other in tome 4! (I’m not actually. Let them be content, at least for a while, please)

nOTP: given that Ophélie notp-ies herself with everyone aha I'd say Renard, Archibald, anyone of the dudes she forms a strong friendship with, basically (I’m not as opposed with the gals for some reason? But I’m also very monogamous with my ships, so still ain’t it)

Random headcanon: this may be more of a general lore thing because I also apply it to other characters, but the use of "of Anima" - ie the place she comes from - as a surname stand-in, Middle Ages style (mainly because I hate tagging characters with only their first name so I had to make something up aha)

(Wait, now that I think about it, they do use the Family Spirits names in the wedding ceremony... that's pretty much the canon equivalent of a surname... well, there goes my headcanon)

Unpopular opinion: welp, I don't even know what the popular opinions are, the fandom here is so minuscule aha. One thing may be that I'm very adamant about her being in her early twenties, or 19 at least? If she was a teen her uneasiness about romance/sexuality and frustration at feeling "half a woman" and "a child" simply wouldn't hit as hard

Burton has said that he considers this a Halloween Christmas hybrid. Sellick says it's just a Halloween movie. Therefore if you credit the latter you have to pack it away on November 1st and wait until next year. Sorry but it's word of God. and people don't believe in death of the author anymore

I’m probably not the best person to come to about this, because I’ve always found the “Is TNBC a Halloween or Christmas movie?” a redundant and kind of pointless conversation about the movie. It’s become the fandom’s dreaded “Scooby-Doo teaches us that the REAL monsters are humans.”, lol.

Selick had stated his stance. Tim Burton has as well. Even Danny Elfman commented what he considers the movie as. But regardless - you can watch it at any time of the year, even out-of-season. I think me running a 24/7 TNBC blog proves that the appreciation for this movie spreads beyond Halloween & Christmas - and you can enjoy it all-year long, if that’s your thing!

I’ll always consider the movie as a wonderful mixture of both Halloween and Christmas. It spends a good time with each of them, and TNBC’s world is dedicated to housing and celebrating ALL the holidays, despite them not yet being properly explored.

From my insta 👍 ik there's 6 but you can just ignore the strykalo one. This is all just my subjective feelings and opinions as always. I'm not saying that these are the best albums ever made but the ones that I personally enjoy the most. I listen to music as background noise mostly

1. MARINA THE FAMILY JEWELS FOREVERRRR I'm a marina girlie she made me who i am and it's still the most relatable album I've ever heard in my entire life 😭 it's too special and personal to be lower

2. Depeche Mode black celebration. I used to say my favourite dm album is ultra but I think black celebration has grown on me more and it evokes very special feelings in me that I don't know how to explain. I'm obsessed with their themes of (a bit fucked up) intimacy and some of their best songs are from this album. It's great from start to finish and the lyrics are so picturesque that I cannot listen to them and not immediately start thinking about an animated lyric video of some sort like the one I made for here is the house

3. Oingo Boingo weird science is fucking AWESOME and I'm obsessed with them in general but the way this album talks about life and death and afterlife combined with their very specific sound also evokes a lot of feelings in me and I just like it, I love Danny Elfman and I love this album

4. Cocteau twins Heaven or Las Vegas... the cocteau twins fandom is dying reblog if you're a real cock. I don't understand shit from what they're saying but the Vibes are immaculate. Genuinely haven't heard anything remotely similar to what they managed to achieve with this one

5. David Bowie 1. Outside. I'm not a very big Bowie fan but this is my favourite album of his. I think the concept and narrative is very interesting and the sound is one of the more daring from him I've heard. 👍

All right, fandom confession time. The only reason why I’m saying this because I feel like I need to get this off my chest before I forget.

I’ve been holding out on the very weird off-chance that there is at least one recording out there of Danny Elfman singing Sally’s Song for years. Ever since I figured out that this man made and sung a demo for every single Nightmare Before Christmas except that one, my curiosity for how that would sound has been on-and-off, but strong.

And, given how there was a previously never-before-heard versions of a few Hunchback of Notre Dame demos in a certain soundtrack repackage a while back (I think).. I dunno, I just feel like it’s still there on some work-in-progress version of the film somewhere.

If I’m right down the line, however, expect me to post a follow-up with a related GIF... After my years-ago self revives and screams in pleasant surprise.
