Sony in negotiations to purchase Kadokawa

Anime and Manga fans know that Kadokawa is a hell of a lot more than just the publisher of Elden Ring. Although this WOULD give Sony 69.6% ownership of FromSoftware.

But Kadokawa is also they're a manga/anime/gaming giant that owns tons of franchises and companies. Given that Sony already owns Aniplex and CrunchyRoll, this would further solidify Sony's massive control of anime properties.

Similarities of Murder On Orient Express / Calais Coach to Danganronpa Despair Time

So like. Hi. I’m Starri. And uh. I’m not very much of a theorist but a few days ago i began to read Agatha Christie’s Murder on Orient Express, also known as Murder in the Calais Coach in America. I’d been searching for a copy for a while until i finally found one from my local library.

For the record, I’ve only been able to read half of the book so far (i have to put it on hold to finish another book which i need to return soon (i can’t renew it as someone wants it)), so I’ll most likely make an updated post that elaborates more on it.

Murder on Orient Express has been mentioned a few times in the DRDT franchise, most notably being in Min’s execution as the last question (Who wrote Murder in the Calais Coach?). A page of it also appears in the Literature Girl Insane (fun fact ive been calling it nonsense literature girl the whole time smh i’m a fake vocaloid fan i’m sorry) MV.

In fact, Agatha Christie herself has been mentioned multiple times in the story. For example, in chapter one, Teruko mentions her (although her name is considerably censored)

This also reveals that Teruko reads mystery novels (slay!!) which I think is pretty neat lol

For the record, Strychnine isn’t used in Murder on Orient Express, but it’s used on one Agatha Christie’s earlier mystery novels, that being The Mysterious Affair At Styles. I actually haven’t read that yet though since I can’t find a copy myself.

She is also, of course mentioned in the Literature Girl Insane credits. Although the original vocaloid MV has mentioned a ton of Authors (eg. Dazai Osamu, Kaiji Motohiro) that do appear in the DRDT ver, Agatha Christie does not appear in the original vocaloid MV whatsoever, meaning that she has been added deliberately, along with Lewis Carroll (i haven’t read alice in wonderland because i’m a little dipshit sorry i can’t do anything with him) and possibly a few others.

To be honest I do think Agatha Christie herself is somewhat related to the plot, along with other books of hers that aren’t Orient Express.

But I digress. My main topic here is how Murder on Orient Express has similarities to DRDT. Even if I’ve only read half, there’s a few similarities I can find:

1. There are 16 passengers aboard the train

In the novel, there are multiple compartments, however, in the main one, there are 16 people. You know what else has 16 people?? The danganronpa series, mainly, which includes DRDT.

2. The victim has somewhat ulterior motives/secrets

The man who died is revealed to be a murderer, who has changed his name to avoid being identified. At the beginning of the story he asks Poirot/The protagonist to protect him from someone who has been targeting him, which Poirot declines.

How is this similar to DRDT? Well, firstly, Xander, like the victim, died mainly because of their own actions. Xander died attempting to kill Teruko, while the victim died because he was a scumbag that killed. It’s quite far fetched but. Yeah.

3. ‘Charles Cuevas Motive’ and the Handkerchief

The handkerchief from the novel has been embroidered with the letter H. However, H in russian is N. Do you see where I’m going?

In the story, the handkerchief is revealed to belong to a russian woman by the name Natalia because of this.

In DRDT, ‘Charles Cuevas Motive’ or C CU MO is misread as 3MOC until Rose tells everyone to turn the disc.

Both stories have a sort of misreading of possible evidence that end up being clarified after a while.

4. People fainting after seeing blood

In both stories, someone faints from seeing blood: Charles after seeing Teruko on the ground, and Mrs Hubbard (a character) after finding a bloodied knife in her purse (?). Mrs Hubbard says that, just like Charles, it’s due to her fear of blood.

This one I’m almost sure is somewhat referencing the novel.

The end (because i’m stupid and haven’t read the whole book)

Ultimately there’s probably more similarities that I’ve overlooked (there’s most likely something to do with the ‘woman in the scarlet kimono’ ) so I promise to update this soon. But for now. uh. toodles

If anything, i think the references to Orient Express only go as far to the end up Chapter one. I think chapter 2 might be centric to another Agatha Christie book (i have a few theories on which one but like. i’ve only read 6.) so yay i guess

While I'm waiting to see where you go next with this, I figured I may ask something unrelated to the AU. So, outside of FNAF, what other series do you like or enjoy? I can imagine you share my love for Sonic at least, if your banner is any indication there...

I do indeed, love the Sonic franchise! It's been a major part of my childhood ever since my sister introduced it to me, very hyped for the third movie. More answers below as usual!

I also enjoy other game franchises like Poppy Playtime, Danganronpa (uh, to an extent, I used to be really into the franchise around the pandemic times, now the only reason I even draw DR anymore is for Naehiro/Naesaki, AKA the best DR ship), Pokémon (also to an extent, I've never played the games or watched the series or anything, I don't know anyone's names, I don't know any lore, I only like/know a handful characters because they're silly and cute, Allister, Maushold, Ghost Types and Pichu my beloveds), Papa's Gameria, Ace Attorney, and of course, Twisted Wonderland (I am very insane for that franchise! Seriously it's a little bit of a problem...)

(Also I don't think this counts, but I have no where else to put it, Ronpa And Friends by EmpireSpade, it's an old Disney/Danganronpa project on IG that hasn't been updated in 2 years...I JUST WANT CHAPTER 2 MAN I WANT MY BOY KIT AND KARNAGE TO LIVE 😭😭)

Speaking of TWST and Disney, have I mentioned I like Disney properties? (I hate Disney as a company, but I love the movies and shows from them...usually. Reminder to pirate anything that company makes!) I like Ducktales 2017, Darkwing Duck, Wreck It Ralph, if I keep going it's gonna be endless 😭 Onto non-disney stuff, Scooby Doo, Spooky Month, He-Man, Arcane, ATLA, Soul Eater, FMAB, Demon Slayer, Sanrio (not the company) again, if I keep rambling on about my interests we'd be stuck forever. I'll probably just make a carrd thing eventually (and also, I'm not even sure if I listed even half of what I like lmao)

the first oc is mei lynn, her whole backstory is basically that she's SUUPER unlucky, like really REALLY bad luck, and on her way 2 school she did isekai'd, fell through the air, landed in a lake and broke her leg ^^

n the second oc is florian, his nickname is driam, hes a dragon shifter, meaning he has a full dragon form (which i haven't drawn yet), a half dragon-half human form, and a fully human form (i haven't drawn this yet either), n his backstory is that his parents who were also dragon shifters [and unapollogetically so] were killed by discriminatory humans who beleive shifters shouldn't be aloud rights called hunters, so he usually just parades around as a human, the only people who know hes a dragon shifter are his partners, (havent drawn them yet but he has 2 partners; his boyfriend abbie who's a cat shifter and his girlfriend mira, whos a mage that specializes in ice, water, and healing magic) and bestfriends, (elliott, a freelance programmer who beleives everyone deserves rights, shifter or not and protests these rights happily. piper, florian's roomate before he moved in with his partners, a human who lightly dabbles in plant magic but she wouldn't consider herself a mage, her apartment is above her flower shop which she named ' The Bluebell ', its her pride and joy and she hired mira to set up protection runes around the shop that activate when they close up for the night. and mikhail, whos a demon that refuses to make a deal with anyone for anything out of fear theyll hurt them because a deal with a demon always backfires on the person making the deal with them because a demon always wins in the deal they make, and demons are just angels who were abandoned by their patron god/goddess, mikhail's patron goddess was the goddess of the night and stars, he was abandonded by her out of hope that the mistreatment he got for being an angel would lessen and in a way it did because in the end he found a family.)

Danganronpa Wonderland: A Masterpost

The Danganronpa Wonderland franchise is a fanmade series by Yume based off of the Danganronpa video game series. However, the franchise has no relation to the canon series, and only takes on the loose story structure and plot elements of the Danganronpa franchise.

The story is themed around the popular fairytale Alice in Wonderland, with the constant idea of the story being the contrast between change vs. complacency. The story consists of three individual series: Danganronpa Wonderland, Danganronpa Underland, and Danganronpa: Wonder's End.

An important thing to note is that while Wonderland is technically the first in the series, Underland comes before it chronogically, and the two can be read in any order, although each story will contain major spoilers for the other.

1. DANGANRONPA WONDERLAND

Danganronpa Wonderland is the first installment of the series - although it comes second chronogically.

Synopsis:

Marmoreal Academy - a prestigious school famous around the world due to its unique criteria: accepting an extremely small amount of "Ultimate" students: the most talented students on the planet. The school strives to raise the "changes" of the future, and for as long as the world can remember, the school has always been a shining example of wonder, with a charming, almost magical aura and an unclear but intriguing past.

However, this all changed five years ago, after the recent announcement of the academy's monumental 100th class of Ultimates. Following a "mysterious incident" at the start of the year, the academy suddenly withdrew itself from the eyes of the world. The school started scouting out their Ultimates in secret, afraid to show their students or intentions due to said "incident". The why and how of this sudden change in the school has always been a mystery...but soon, all will be revealed.

When Mao Akizora gets accepted into Marmoreal Academy's new - and supposedly secret - 105th class, as the Ultimate Cheerleader, she expects to finally become more than just a "simple cheerleader on the sidelines". But when she's suddenly taken to a strange and fantastical "Wonderland", where two twin rabbits and horrific slaughter await her until only the best Ultimate remains, Mao realizes what exactly a “simple cheerleader” can become in a killing game.

2. DANGANRONPA UNDERLAND

Danganronpa Underland is the second installment of the series, although it comes first in the overall timeline of events. The series is currently being written on Ao3.

Synopsis:

Fumihito - "Fumi" - Misumi has been described as a "genius", being well-versed in everything that has to do with the phenomenon that is known as "death". Cold, intelligent, and sharp-tongued, Fumi is deeply fascinated by strange questions such as: why is death so feared? Why does death leave such a lasting and large impact on others?

When Fumi receives an invitation to the prestigious Marmoreal Academy, invited to join the school's 100th class as the "Ultimate Thanatologist", he thinks little of it. But when Fumi is swept up into a terrifying killing game known as the Killing Wonder, where horrific slaughter awaits until only the best Ultimate remains, his life takes a terrifying turn. As more of his classmates die, and as Fumi's heart inevitably softens, will he finally understand why so many people fear the very idea of death?
